2. The images above and on the previous slide are of famous Hip Hop/R&B artists, who are usually featured in music magazines. The images on the left and right are of my friend Ellison which I used in my media product. The genre of my media product is Hip Hop/R&B which means that the stereotypical social group can be describes as: African American males, aged 15-30 years old, working class, interested in black culture, music, and urban fashion (baseball caps, large t shirts/jackets, baggy jeans worn low, latest trainers, and jewellery). To make my media product (magazine cover, contents page, double page spread) relevant to the Hip Hop/R&B social group I: used photographs of my friend who has a black ethnicity, who is a rapper/producer and is a model, which makes my media product more efficient and realistic as artists of a black ethnicity dominate Hip Hop/R&B music and magazines. To create the Hip Hop/R&B image I got my friend to wear particular clothes so that he looked appropriate for this genre of music. This included: a red baseball cap, a simple black designer t-shirt, a large red designer jacket, a pair of baggy designer jeans worn low, a designer belt and latest trainers. Another way I created the Hip Hop/R&B image was by getting my friend to do a particular pose that looked appropriate for this genre of music. This included: having his arms crossed/hands in pockets, looking straight at the camera, and having a moody and intimidating expression on his face. Another way I created the Hip Hop/R&B image was by using particular colours in my media product that looked appropriate for this genre of music. I decided to use a red, black and white/light grey colour scheme throughout my media product as they are all contrasting colours, that stand out, and relate to the urban fashion as they are vibrant colours. These colours are also popular with Hip Hop/R&B artists. To keep the images consistent with the colour scheme I ensured that most of the clothes worn by my friend were matching the the colour scheme. The stereotypical social group for my Hip Hop/R&B music magazine is dominantly 15-30 year old males so I have used a male artist in this age rage for the main feature of the magazine, however the front cover does show that there are many female artists are featured in the supposed magazine and therefore the magazine is not totally gender biased.
