The Water Crisis In Flint
The water crisis in Flint, Michigan shocked and outraged many Americans. It was true, a simple water
source change from one source to another in the city of Flint turned into a State of Emergency as
declared by the governor. Toxic water from the Flint River had filtered into thousands of homes in the
town near Detroit. Keeping lead out of the drinking water is something modern society view as a
fundamental and common sense action. As such, countless citizens wondered how something like this
could ever happen in the United States. Indeed, the missteps by the city of Flint, Michigan must be
examined in terms of both decision making and chemistry in order to make appropriate adjustments
for the future.

Reasons For Juvenile Delinquency
Juvenile Delinquency and why they do it
Juvenile delinquency is a big thing in the United States of America. The reason for this is that it
accounts for a good portion of the percentage of crime, and it can lead to them committing crimes as
an adult. There are many theories that we will discuss as reasons why these kids will end up as a
statistic in juvenile delinquency and ways to slow down, if not stop, the numbers from becoming
higher.
What is Juvenile Delinquency
First of all, you may be wondering, what is juvenile delinquency? Juvenile delinquency is crime
committed by a child at the age of 18 and younger, that if committed by an adult would end up in
court or prison (Wilson,2000). That means that just because a kid skipped school does not mean he or
she would be considered a juvenile delinquent, but if that same child committed murder, rape, robbery,
assault, etc. he or she would be considered a juvenile delinquent(Wilson,2000). Be careful with this as
every state, federal government, etc. may have their own definition that may be a little different in the
writing or the age at which they follow.
Juvenile Delinquency Statistics
There are many statistics out there for juvenile delinquency from what age or grade they are most
likely to commit a crime to what race, sex and if there is a better chance to commit a crime do to
divorce, being around drugs or gangs, and etc(Hawkins,2000). All of these different things could be
causes or risk factors for juvenile delinquency, but does not guarantee that these kids would be
criminal s later in live.
One of those is the reason that juvenile delinquency needs to be looked at more and fixed is, juveniles
are involved or committed at least a quarter of all serious violent act, not to include murder in the past
25 years.(Juvenile Justice) In 1999 around 2.5 million juveniles were arrested and 104,000 were due
to violent crimes. There were 1.7 million juvenile delinquency cases in the courts in 1997. (Juvenile
Justice) About 2,000 were from homicide, 6,5oo for rape, 67,900 for assault and the rest were things
related with drugs. (Juvenile Justice) With these numbers it shows why considering juvenile
delinquency is very important to get that number down that it will

How to Write Case Study
http://www.cpcug.org/user/houser/advancedwebdesign/Tips_on_Writing_the_Case_Study.html
HOW TO WRITE A CASE STUDY by Charles Warner
There are two types of case studies: (1) factual ones depicting real organizations, people, and
situations and (2) fictional ones that, although usually based loosely on actual people and events, do
not use real organization s or people s names.
The advantages of factual case studies are that they can provide a wealth of detail, give credibility to
situations and problems, and, most important, provide real outcomes. Actual results give those who
analyze a case real world solutions: How did the organization or manager solve the problems? Did the
solutions work?
Although factual cases furnish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often the best teaching cases are those that contain both appropriate and inappropriate problem
solutions. By using this technique, writers do not signal to readers that all the solutions are either right
or wrong case analysts have to figure it out for themselves.
The next step is to select or create situations that give readers a clear delineation of the problems and
point the way to a discussion about possible solutions. The most effective way to depict a problem is
to write situations or scenes that have conflict in them: scenes in which the characters have opposite
points of view, disagreements, or different solutions. Each situation or scene in a case study should
either: (1) carry the narrative forward, (2) relate directly to one of the major problems in the case, or
(3) provide insight into the personality and motives of one or more of the characters. The ideal
situation is one that the writer knows will elicit conflicting opinions about potential solutions.

Medical Case Study And Analysis
Medical Case Study and Analysis A lot of people around us suffer from different medical conditions
each day. It is important for everyone to be able to assess basic medical reports and make a quick
diagnosis. In this paper, we will be conducting three different case studies relating to
pathophysiological case studies, in order to understand different medical terms related to some very
common medical conditions.
Case Study 1 The first case study we will be analysing is a 60 year old male patient named Mr. John
Smith. It was noted that recently he has been experiencing strong chest pain, and the onset pain was
described as sudden. Also, no vital signs were noted and the patient had no previous medication
history. And also, it has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further, we would recommend to the patient to have an electrocardiogram (ECG) test, in order to be
sure that the pain is not a cause of any heart related problems. We would also recommend the patient
perform basic physical exercises, as this would be helpful to relieve them of anxiety and panic
(Richardson, 2012). The patient s caretaker should monitor him carefully and contact the health care
center if he displays any sudden condition of anxiety or panic attack.
Case study 2 The subject of our next case study is a twenty one year old female, who is presented with
a shortness of breath after completing a training session. The patient is noted to be producing an
audible wheeze when breathing. The patient is noted to be currently suffering from asthma and speaks
only in short sentences. Her vital signs include using Ventolin inhaler. Paramedic report shows that her
pulse rate is 140 bpm, which should have been between 70 100 bpm. Higher pulse rate indicates that
the person is prone to sudden asthma attacks (Dawson, 2014), especially after any physical event. Her
blood pressure is 130/70, where we can see that her diastolic pressure is low. Her respiratory rate is 40
bpm, this is a highly dangerous rate for any adult, as respiratory rate should be between 12 20 for any
adult. This indicates that she is suffering from Tachycardia, which is verified through her ECG reports.
Tachycardia is a common type of heart rhythm disorder, where she beats faster than usual

Sharia In Canad The Pitfalls Of Diversity
Islam is now the second most practiced religion in Canada, only behind Catholicism. Approximately
one million people living in Canada identify as Muslim, making it one of the largest minority groups
within Canada. Internationally, Canada can be identified as a multicultural country, known for its
diversity of population and for its policies which enforce toleration for those living within Canada.
The film Sharia in Canada The Pitfalls of Diversity explores the debates around allowing for Sharia
law to exist as a legitimate law form within Canada. This is a point of contention throughout various
groups of people in Canada. In the 1990s, the idea to first introduce sharia law in Canadian society
was presented. Sharia law is the rules outlined ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, with the emergence of multicultural policy, some difficulties have developed in the attempt
to in place these policies. The challenges which have emerged include the problem of how to properly
categorize minorities, the problem of conditions and sequencing, and the relationship between justice
and security, (Kymlicka, 2013, pp. 8 9). Examining the relationship between justice and security, the
question of to what extent should minority rights be preserved, and what risks are worth taking is
brought forward, (Kymlicka, 2013, p. 9). Putting Sharia law into practice is controversial because
while it follows multicultural, the practice also differentiates from Canadian law, and puts some

The Compromise Of 1877 Was The Compromise Of The...
The Compromise of 1877 was a very effective time period in history. Its main focus was to rebuild the
South physically and as a nation. It was the compromise of the Reconstruction Era and the U.S.
presidential election of 1876. Problems now went from the battlefields to politics. After the Civil War
over, 3.9 million slaves were freed and given rights. This then created tensions between black and
whites. The presidential election was another conflict that was resolved. Democrats and Republicans
had many different opinions when it came to them being a bipartisan government, which created some
tensions. Nevertheless, the Compromise of 1877 was the a compromise of the Reconstruction Era and
the U.S. presidential election of 1876. Problems for the South now went from battlefields to politics.
Former slaves were now freed and had rights granted to them by the Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and
Fifteenth Amendment. The Thirteenth Amendment abolished slavery, the Fourteenth Amendment gave
them equal rights and protection under the law, and the Fifteenth Amendment gave them the right to
vote (Landmark Legislation). Now, this stirred up tensions between blacks and whites. Due to blacks
being able to vote intimidated the whites because it could affect who was elected for president. One of
the oldest hate groups, founded in 1865, was known as the Ku Klux Klan or KKK (Ku Klux Klan).
The group intimidated and threatened African Americans to ensure that they would not vote. Along
with voting, the U.S. presidential election was another conflict leading up to the Compromise of 1877.
Democrat Samuel J. Tilden, and Republican Rutherford B. Hayes were both candidates. The
candidates began to have tensions after Hayes sent federal troops to South Carolina, Louisiana, and
Florida to enforce laws containing to race. The states were originally Democratically ruled. After the
federal troops were sent from Hayes, Tilden did not like this. As the Reconstruction Era began, a plan
was already thought of to put an end to the the Era. A plan was proposed by Abraham Lincoln was

between religions in Malaysia. Religious differences contributed to the complexity and inter ethnic
conflict. In Malaysia, the level of social interaction in a pluralistic society is minimal. Residential
isolation and different working environments also help to create a huge gap between ethnic groups.
For that reason, many conflicts arise before and after the Independence Day of Malaysia The situation
is predicted to get worse if there is no attempt to reduce the gap between ethnic groups. Among the
steps that can be taken to resolve this conflict is the discussion of inter ethnic dialogue. Through
dialogue, discontent and stress among people or ethnic group can be minimized. Therefore, this paper
attempts to discuss the formation of a plural society in Malaysia, with the level of inter ethnic look.
This paper proposes the solution through dialogue approach. This solution can be used in the
Malaysian society to develop a more harmonious relationship between the races.

Why Do We Grow Up Differently
We all grow up differently. We have different parents, siblings, houses and experiences that shape us
into the people we are today. We interact with different people and we watch those who are around us.
Everyone can impact our life but it is you who chooses who. Everyone is different and I am no
exception, this is who I am.
I am one of the few people that get to experience having a twin. We were born in Springfield,
Missouri on October 14th. I was 5 pounds and my sister, Mariah, was 4. We were a month premature
so we had a few health problems. Mariah and I were both born with holes in our hearts. As we grew,
the holes fixed themselves. Unfortunately, this was not the end. Mariah was kept in the ICU for a few
months after we were born. When I was about 6 8 months old, I came down with whooping cough. I
fought through and barely made it. I grew up in Marshfield. My favorite thing to do was read. I would
read instead of watching tv or I would go outside and play with Mariah in the mud. When my brother,
Jordan and my nephews and nieces started to be being born. I became a mother hen. This is where I
believe my care and love for children came in.

Racism And Segregation In James Baldwin s A Raisin In The Sun
A Raisin in the Sun and Stranger in the Village are both stories that deal with how racism and
segregation affect blacks and whites. A Raisin in the Sun deals with racism on a small scale, and how
it affects one family, specifically in Chicago. The family in the story tries to buy a better house in a
white neighborhood, and they have to deal with racism from the white people who live in the
neighborhood who are accustomed to segregation. Stranger in the Village deals with racism and
segregation on a broader and worldwide scale. James Baldwin, the author, recounts his experience in a
European village where he deals with racism from people who have never seen a black person before.

One of the argument the essay tries to make is that racism is the reason the Youngers, the family in the
play, live in in horrible economic conditions. In the same vein, A Raisin in the Sun represented the
calamities that African American workers confronted with in Chicago during the years of 1920s to the
1950s (Nowrouzi 2271). In the play the Youngers are forced to work low end jobs like being maids for
white families or being a chauffeur for white people. Since racism restricted black people from getting
higher end jobs, they were forced to work low end jobs, which put them in terrible economic
conditions. This supports my argument that racism effects people psychologically because Walter, a
character in the play, feels like less than a man for working a low end job with little pay, and it also
causes him to have depression and not show up to work. He spends the whole story drinking and
arguing with each member of his family because he doesn t make enough money to support his

To start, it is vital to clarify the concept of a supply chain. It consists basically of all the process that
the materials suffer as they flow from the source to the final customer. There are many concepts linked
to this term, purchasing, warehousing, manufacturing, etc. Or more precisely: a supply chain is a
system of business enterprises that link together to satisfy consumer demand. The elements of a
supply chain can be contained in the same business or be part of different companies (Riddalls et Al.,

stores. The fact of having the factory in Europe and not in other countries such as China is high, but it
is something that is covered by lower transportation costs as well as the capacity to supply demand
almost immediately, which its translated in big amount of sells. It is a very flexible demand based
production. Another positive point of Zara, due to high frequency of changing clothes is the low risk

Analysis Of Gwendolyn Conley s Kitchenette Building
Works of literature are not independent of each other or of the world, this is a basic truth. Each piece
of literature has ties to other works, even with no intention of doing so. These ties can be as broad as
to do with racism, or as narrow as to do with the death of Abraham Lincoln. kitchenette building by
Gwendolyn Brooks exhibits a tie with Robert Conley s Plastic Indian and both literary works exhibit a
tie to the article Poetry, Transformation, and the Column of Tears by Jane Hirschfield. This tie is one
that many people from all around are familiar with which is the unfortunate state of unmet dreams
Gwendolyn Brooks has extremely interesting messages over messages presented throughout her poem
kitchenette building . In the very beginning, she presents a very disparaging image of We are things of
dry hours and the involuntary plan, /Grayed in, and gray. (Brooks). As if to say that life is not of our
control, nor is our life meant to be anything more than just some dry hours of just living and trying to
get by. She says that dream makes a giddy sound (Brooks), as if to say that the notion of a dream is
childish and not worth her time as she has more important and necessary things to worry of Like rent,
feeding a wife, and satisfying a man (Brooks). This is a crushing notion that a dream must take second
place to so many things, but unfortunately Brooks speaks true, we cannot survive if we are only

Though average length of hospital stays has decreased for those over 65, their visits to physicians are
over twice as frequent as those under 65. With increases in age, the intensity of using health care
resources increases: Those over 75, though only 5.5 percent of the total population in 1993, accounted
for 28 percent of all hospital days. At the same time, the caregiver population comprised of both the
elderly and non elderly will be impacted by these changes.
Aging is also an aspect of population dynamics that affects the level of poverty also. As fertility
declines and the population ages, traditional family based systems for providing old age care may
weaken, leaving the elderly vulnerable. The income security of older persons is a policy concern not
only in developed countries but increasingly as well in developing countries such as China that have
passed through the demographic transition. Between 2000 and 2050, the proportion of the population
aged 65 and older will have doubled in most developing regions. This exponential increase in the
aging populous could leave that generation drastically vulnerable. Not only would the health standard
be effected but also the income producing majority. Forecasts show that policy makers must address
the impact of our aging population in the next decade to stay ahead of the demand on resources
required by a population

The intelligence scores of identical twins reared together are more similar than those of fraternal

it is said to be polygenetic. The intelligence test score of fraternal twins are more alike than the

fraternal twins, being the same age, are treated more alike. Studies of adopted children and their

Although normal brain development can be retarded by sensory, social isolation, and deprivation,

called its heritability. For intelligence, this has been estimated at 50 percent. If we know a trait has
perfect heritability, this knowledge does not enable us to rule out environmental factors in explaining
differences between groups. Because of the impact of environmental factors such as education and
nutrition on intelligence test performance, even if the heritability of intelligence is high within a

The Sociological Aspects Of Hilter s A Social Context

comprehensive socio historical or sociological evaluation of Hitler, which will define the charismatic
effects of Hitler s leadership in the rise of Nazi power. In a historiographical context, various
biographers and social historians have examined Hitler, but the overarching social background of
Hitler s rise through class analysis and an examination of psychological states is an important variable
in Kater s article. For instance, one famous biographer of Hitler, Alan Bullock, is criticized for not
providing a more comprehensive sociological examination of Hitler in terms of class status,
psychological background, and the social environment: Although it is difficult to rank the existing
treatises on Hitler on a scale of values, it is clear that even the best of them, including Bullock s

Jim knocks him out. Jim is then arrested and the Joads relocate to another camp where they are treated
with more hospitality than the last. They stay in the camp for a while until the lack of a steady income
forces them to move yet again. The family then gets a fruit picking job, where they run into Jim Casy,
who has been organizing workers and, in the process, making enemies of nearby landowners. The
police kill him in front of Tom, which provokes Tom to kill the police officer. Tom retreats after this

How Did Abraham Lincoln s Influence On Religion
Introduction
Abraham Lincoln has been remembered, both in his own lifetime and thereafter, by the nickname,
Honest Abe. His characteristic trustworthiness, nevertheless, has not necessarily permitted historians
to easily interpret all aspects of his personal life and political career. One such topic that has been
somewhat shrouded in mystery is Abraham Lincoln s religious views. The prolific American
theologian, Reinhold Neibuhr once referred to Lincoln as unquestionably our most religious president,
who was superior in depth and purity to those, not only of the political leaders of the day, but of the
religious leaders of the era. [i] On the other hand, a contemporary of Lincoln, William Herndon,
attempted to combat the idea that Abraham Lincoln changed his views about believing in a personal
God by dismissing the existence of any evidence for such a claim.[ii] However, Wayne C. Temple s
more recent tome, Abraham Lincoln: From Skeptic to Prophet, has compiled scores of evidence to
outline the religious views of Abraham, which were by no means static throughout ... Show more

Lincoln had moved away from the naturalistic Doctrine of Necessity for several years, and at the
beginning of his presidency his view of providence might be best understood by the phrase, divine
assistance. In other words, God was available to intervene in the affairs of mankind, contrasting with
the impersonal Doctrine of Necessity, but the relationship between Creator and created was not quite
Calvinistic in the sense that the world is to be seen as God s glorious theatre where God s will
surpasses man s plans.[xxvi] Nicholas Parillo substantiates this claim by stating, Literary analysis
reveals that, even though Lincoln always subscribed to the same technical definition of providence,
the role that this concept played in his rhetoric underwent a gradual but dramatic change during his
presidency. [xxvii] Lincoln, in his acceptance letter for the Republican presidential nomination,

The Responsibility Of Organizational Effectiveness
Leadership Style The responsibility of organizational effectiveness is in the hands of the institution s
leaders. Leaders develop business strategies to maintain relevance or launch the business into the next
generation or category. An important factor of strategic success is how managers and supervisors lead
followers in a new direction. The foundation of the relationship will determine if the employees will
give total commitment to the organization s strategy or do the minimal tasking.
Organizational Effectiveness Organizations are continually evolving to meet the requests of the
stakeholders, customers, and the environment. Strategic renewal is revamping an organization s
business model, target audience, or products or services to meet the demands put on the leaders
(Spector, 2013). Therefore, the success of the company s new strategy is dependent on the leaders
capability to support the new internal processes with the external requirements (Spector, 2013).
Strategic Leadership Strategic leadership is the capability to incorporate forward thinking ideas and
concepts into a business s functions while simultaneously influencing employees to accept the new
processes (Malewska Sajdak, 2014). Consequently, leaders cannot announce a change or new strategy
and expect the staff to understand the latest expectations; it takes a more in depth, hands on approach
to make the system work. In a 1998 study, chief executive officers (CEOs) from American businesses

Genetic Modification Of Designer Babies
I support that the danger of the misuse of genetic engineering is too great and development and use of
technology should be halted. The first reason I don t support the creation of designer babies is that
some important historic figures had sickness. Another reason why I don t support the genetic
modification of babies is that the scientists can make mistakes. Finally, the last reason I do not support
the genetic engineering is so that people don t enter a bad emotional state. The first reason I do not
support the creation of designer babies is that some important historical figure had mental sickness.
For example, Albert Einstein had Asperger s syndrome. According to the website Webmd.com is The

gene containing the DNA of the baby s height might also control the length of the baby s arms. From
this process this can make the baby look deformed. For the most part, geneticists are not perfect.
Finally, my last reason why I do not support genetic engineering is because it will make some people
enter a bad emotional state. In the movie GATTACA,when a person was perfect, but then later found
out he had mistakes they would enter a suicidal state of mind. This happens because the person thinks
they re perfect but when they realise they are not they think they re a failure. If we start genetically

Conflict Styles With Face Negotiation Theory
Conflict Styles With Face Negotiation Theory
Introduction:
In many aspects of our life, it is pervasive to work in a team. No matter in company, school, or another
type of team it is necessary to be a part of a team and to achieve a team goal by corporations. People
join a team with different personalities, goals, values, beliefs and needs. On the one hand, these
differences can be a valuable quality of teams. On the other hand, these same differences inevitably
lead to different levels of conflicts as well. This paper analyzed the conflicts communication by styles
and types of conflict. There are five distinct types of conflicts, while this paper will only focus on
collaboration conflict style and accommodating conflict style. These two types of conflict styles are
more useful under corporative work environment. Additionally, my personal best and worst team
experiences respectively illustrated how collaboration effective for my team work, and how overly
accommodation influence my corporate outcomes. This paper is designed to offer a better
understanding about conflicts styles, and intercultural communication and conflict within
organizations. In terms of the paper structure, first, this paper gave a short explanation about the
conflict styles. Then, some related concepts of Face Negotiation Theory explored in this paper as well.
Additionally, it evaluated the effectiveness/ineffectiveness of collaboration conflict style and
accommodating conflict styles in organizations.

Argumentative Essay On Metal Music
Metal music: Noise pollution of today Metal music is a genre of rock music that developed in the late
sixties and early seventies. It is characterized by its loud distorted guitars, dense bass and drum sound
and vigorous vocals. Because of its different and a bit aggressive sound, metal music is not everyone s
cup of tea. Sadly, metal community is often faced with a lot of stereotypical opinions. The most
widespread stereotypical opinion is that all metal songs are about the devil and hell. One more
stereotypical opinion is that all metal songs are just pointless screaming. All these stereotypes are
wrong because metal music has a very wide range of lyrical themes and, next to usual loud songs,
there are also some very nice and emotional ballads. Only problem with metal music is the fact that
this kind of music is often associated with drugs, alcohol and violence. It is true that some metal fans
consume drugs and alcohol, but that does not mean that all fans of metal music should be categorized
as drug addicts and alcoholics because those people s addiction is a result of their bad choices and it
has nothing to do with the music they listen to. Talking about violence is pointless because if you

The Context Of Growing Economic Interdependence
This paper will endeavour to explore the context of growing economic interdependence
(globalisation); inequality is both growing within and between nations. In turn, analysing the
following the following statement that Inequality can undermine economic, social and perhaps even
political stability. It can tear the very fabric that holds society together. We now have firm evidence
that a severely skewed income distribution harms the pace and sustainability of growth over the longer
term. The growing gap between the rich and poor is now at its highest levels due to wealth disparity,
income inequality and education. Reference to the term the gap between the rich and the poor also
refers to inequality among groups in society as well as countries and is related to equality in
opportunity and outcomes. Although there is no standard in measuring the gap between the rich and
poor, indicators such as wealth disparity, income and education are threats to the growth of economies.
The debate on whether the gap is widening between the rich and poor; it is important to understand
what causes inequality. For example: whether inequality exists because of opportunity, in other words,
those that cannot access education. For those opposing the debate on the widening gap between the
rich and poor note that individuals who work hard and receive a higher income are not market failures,
that in fact, higher wages are important in encouraging more effort and thus by rewarding hard work

Cross Country Season Analysis
Hello yellow jackets! This week was an off week for us. What I mean by this is that during the cross
country season we have meets every other week. When I first came from high school, where I had a
meet every weekend, I wasn t used to this, but now that I am in college I realize how beneficial this is!
In college our races are longer, the training is more rigorous and we also have an increased academic
load as students. Having races every other week also allows us to give our bodies rest and then when
we race we can really give our all. Next week we will host the Friendship Invitational and we have a
lot of schools coming this year that haven t in the past, so we are looking forward to the tougher
competition!
Coming off of Labor Day weekend this week, we had a workout on Tuesday. We did mile repeats on
the cross country course. Although some people were tired, as a majority our team saw improvements
from the last time we did this workout and we even increased the volume. It was encouraging to see

What Role Did Women Play In The Early Development Of...
Christianity in the Roman era appealed to both women and men. Its sense of inclusiveness,
forgiveness, and other aspects of it changed the lives of many Roman people. However, there were
many different qualities of Christianity that led women to convert. Particularly in Jesus s life and some
time after his life, women were key figures in the development and spread of the religion. Women had
the important role of helping develop Christianity and spreading Jesus s teachings, and this was
important because they aided the survival of Christianity.
Firstly, women helped Jesus in his search for the nature of the divine, and his teachings. In the early
development of Christianity, disciples were persecuted by the Roman Empire (Strayer, 174).

A Comparison of Multiple Research Designs
Reversal design involves repeated measures of behavior in a given setting requiring at least three
consecutive phases: initial baseline, intervention, and return to baseline (Cooper, 2007). As with any
intervention, baseline data is a typical primary condition for beginning the process. With reversal
design data is collected, until steady state responding is achieved and then intervention is begun. The
condition is applied in the form of treatment and then reversal of the treatment is performed. This
procedure is described as A B A or baseline, treatment, baseline. The operation and logic of the
reversal design involves the prediction, verification, and replication of the treatment reducing the
target behavior. The reversal of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Irreversibility can be a significant factor of this treatment design. Reversal design is not appropriate
when independent variable cannot be withdrawn. The level of behavior from earlier phases cannot be
reproduced again under the same conditions. Reversal phases can be relatively short. Reversal of
intervention may not be appropriate in harmful situations
Measuring the validity of reversal design takes into consideration the social significance of the
behavior to be modified, the results that can be improved through replication, and will the
diminishment of the behavior be meaningful to the individual. An appropriate intervention using
reversal design would be for a student that is struggles to stay in his seat during classroom instruction.
The teacher records that the student is out of his seat five times during a 60 minute class period.
During the intervention period, the teacher offers the student free time passes for every 15 minutes
that he remains in his seat.
Multiple baseline design takes three basic forms to change target behaviors. The multiple baseline
across behaviors design, consisting of two or more different behaviors of the same subject. After the
baseline data has been recorded the independent variable is applied to one behavior until one criterion
level is met for that behavior before moving on to the next behavior.
The multiple baseline across settings design, consisting of

The Groundwater Of California Is A Serious Policy Matter
The groundwater of California is a serious policy matter in legislation. If there is drought, such as
years like this, then management is necessary because it may encourage more pumping to supplant the
water not gathered from other resources. Groundwater can account for as much as 35% of all the
water used by California (cite). Unfortunately, there are not many laws established to regulate
groundwater. The basins can replenish if they are pumped on a limited basis during normal or peak
years. Luckily, proposals have been brought forth to help regulate ground water basins to insure their
use is efficient and does not harm the environment.
Groundwater basins are able to store massive amounts of waters and are great to have during droughts,

The local agriculture groups do not want the state to manage the groundwater based on their

charge of their groundwater. Governor Brown has proposed his Water Action Plan , which is a series

Christians are all prescribed the same things in our spiritual lives to get closer to God, which consists
of quiet time and going to church. But, what if that is not working for you in your spiritual journey? In
this book Sacred Pathways, it addresses different ways we can rekindle our relationship with God
through the nine spiritual temperaments.
The first of the nine spiritual temperaments is a naturalist, they love to be outside in nature, they learn

adoration like the people who have the contemplatives spiritual skill. It is necessarily for them to

devotion, they meditative in prayer, and do daily devotions.
The last spiritual gift is intellectual, by loving God with the mind. These type of people with this gift
like to study the bible like on certain topics, they are influenced by personality and feed on intellectual
activities. They tend to invest in a bible study, read understanding scripture books, listen to theology
tapes and study the 7 basic topics of theology.

Automobile Comparison
The products ten years ago compared to today s products are completely different. Additionally, these
changes are due to an increase in technology, specifically in cars. However, the older Toyota Camry is
comfortable, reliable, and spacious. Additionally, there are over 10 million Camry s sold worldwide
and over 6 million in the United States. The bells and whistles of modern automobiles compared to
older vehicles like the Toyota Camry is less valuable in terms of reliability and safety.
The bells and whistles of modern automobiles is technology developed by automotive industries.
Although new cars offer numerous technological changes and features like starting itself, regulating
the temperature, and 268 horsepower, there are also dangerous risks. For example, if General Motors
can unlock a car door when the driver accidentally leaves the keys in the car, thieves cannot only hack
a car using technology, but can steal the car without any damage to the vehicle. In other words, a
hacker does not need the typical bat or hammer to break the window and get into a car, just an iPad.

driver is on the freeway, a car could slam directly into the back of the car depending on how close the

Cigarette smoking is now becoming a big issue throughout the cosmos and particularly in Oman.
Scientist and medical researchers say that the bullet from a cigarette contains more than 4000 deadly
chemicals, which could have various toxic, mutagenic effects. The capacity and concentration of
chemical elements can vary widely from one brand or type of coffin nail to another single. More or

Even though smokers do choose to smoke, the size to which these choices can validate the effects of
their own wellness. An analysis of the empirical literature reveals a diversity of components such as
targeted advertising, unequal dissemination of information about the health hazards of smoking and
inequalities in smoking norms that make the disadvantaged more likely to become smokers and less
potential to stop successfully. The paper then considers a range of common tobacco control policies
from the perspective of social justice. The social justice perspective developed here poses a challenge
for policy makers: on the one hand, social justice concerns strengthen the case for tobacco control
policies because such policies disproportionately benefit the wellness of the disadvantaged. At the
same time, all the same, we must be especially tender to any harms associated with such policies
because such burdens, too, will come down largely on the disadvantaged. Looking at other researches,
this research didn t cover a wide region in the sultanate. It hardly hid a small sample in the MTC. The
results weren t really accurate. It didn t show any threatening results that we should be mindful of. In
America, however, Researchers said they were surprised and even embarrassed to find that smoking

The plates are in constant motion. Where they interact, along their margins, important geological
processes take place, such as the formation of mountain belts, earthquakes, and volcanoes (Spall 1).
Plate tectonics are one of the most influential factors of earthquakes. When tectonic plates slide past
each other an earthquake occurs. Typical plate tectonics move at about the same rate your fingernail
grows. The process is extremely slow before the plate moves significantly enough to cause an earth
quake but it does happen. These tectonic plates are on the fault lines which are considered earthquake
hot spots.
Earthquakes typically occur in relation to other earthquakes. After shocks that follow earthquakes,
typically occur around the same fault break as the original earthquake or can occur on nearby fault
lines as well. Earthquakes can also be triggers for future earthquakes occurring on the same fault line
or neighboring fault lines anytime from seconds to years after the orginal mainshock. In recent
decades, scientists have learned that faults and earthquakes communicate with one another in far more
diverse and interesting ways than the classic foreshock mainshock aftershock (Hough 1).
A specific type of catastrophic earthquake that comes to mind is a tsunami. A tsunami is considered an
undersea earthquake. Tsunamis are caused

physical therapy (PT). Specifically, McGibon et al (2009) observed reduction of increased muscle
tone.(McGibbon, 2009). For this reason, we understand that hippotherapy is more cost efficient and
offers a better long term profit. Finally we come to the last point is the large number of therapists
needed for making a single session. But on the other hand, we have the creation of new jobs and thus
cost efficiency. Conclusion: We can claim that hippotherapy as a treatment may be more accurate as a
method of rehabilitation but it must be remembered that it produces positive and faster results in
children with cerebral palsy (CP). This balances the cost

How Does Faulker Present The Change In A Rose For Emily
Changing times in the South in A Rose for Emily William Faulker, the author of A Rose for Emily,
uses this story to address the themes and symbols of progress and change in the South, during the post
civil war era. The author William Faulker uses his short story, A Rose for Emily to discuss how the
South s refusal to accept the thought of change within the social structures and historical change. If the
South does not change with the changing times, it will suffer and will die a slow long, miserable
death, similar to Miss Emily Grierson s. One large aspect of how the south is bound by history and
tradition is because of the social classes during the post civil war era. Throughout the story, influences
of social class show what the South was truly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The elites were the highest someone could be; the best of the best. These people were normally
wealthy, upper class people/ families. The elite were mostly rich because they owned at least 20
slaves, who worked on their land cultivation it and selling their owners crop. Elite families had the
most political power because they were the wealthiest. This meant, that similar to today s time, if you
have money, you have power as well ( Lifestyles During the Civil War ). The social class below this
one was the middle class. The middle class were the tradesmen, shop owners, doctors and lawyers in
the town. These people had some political power, but only within your close communities ( Lifestyles
During the Civil War ). The next lower tier of the social divisions was the lower class. These people
were unschooled and untrained. Most of these people were in this category, because they came from a
family who owned no land and retained no power. It was extremely difficult for lower class people to
find jobs. This was primarily because they could only do about as much work as a slave and many
elite people would rather have a slave work for them, because they worked for lower wages. The

where formed in July 1944 by the United Nation in Bretton Woods, United States. They are sometimes
referred to as The Bretton Woods Institutes. They are both landers of last resort and they both offer
loans and help countries design policy programs to solve balance of payments problems when
sufficient finance cannot be obtained by the country. IMF offers short and medium term loans whilst
World Bank offers long term loans.
The World Bank, as an institute that offers loans and help countries design policy that will improve
human wellbeing, offered to help Zimbabwe improve its economy and balance of payments in 1992.
The program was referred to as Economic Structural Adjustment Program (ESAP) and it was a policy
designed by the World Bank itself. After independence, the government of Zimbabwe invested heavily
on education and health sectors through parastatals, in rural areas development and the productive
sectors. This led to an increased public sector which made up of forty five percent of the gross

issued US$125 million as Structural Adjustment Loan and another US$50 million as Structural
Adjustment credit. The program was suppose to run for five years and the goals where to reduce

Émile Durkheim Suicide Summary
Suicide by Émile Durkheim is well known text in sociology that is extensively taught to students
within the field. Suicide was published in 1897, the work is considered cutting edge both for showing
detailed research of suicide that revealed there can and is social causes to suicide. Based on Durkheim
s research he said that suicide can be caused by social factors, not just individual psychological ones.
Durkheim reasoned that being apart of society and integrated into groups in particular is a main factor.
The more involved in society and connected to others the less likely they are to commit suicide. As
this sense of belonging decreases suicide increases. Durkheim s theory is formulated by four types of
suicide (Egoistic, Altruistic, Anomic,

Stereotype Threat Theory And Its Effect On Society Essay
Is it possible that the way society sees a group can influence how that group performs on tests of
intelligence? According to the Stereotype Threat Theory, it can. Stereotype Threat Theory refers to the
conscious or unconscious belief that one belongs to a group stereotypically known for specific
performance deficits. The hypothesis is that these beliefs lead to suboptimal performance on tasks
specific to the stereotype (Stoet 94). Stereotype threat leads to a large gap between privileged, un
stereotyped groups and affected groups in society with regards to jobs, education, and social
interactions. This gap comes from stereotyped groups feeling they need to act in the way society tells
them to, creating societal chains on these groups, essentially an unstated law telling them what they
can and cannot do. This is because stereotype threat causes groups to identify with what society
provides their status to be Experiments show commonly stereotyped groups perform worse on
intellectual tests they are told their group generally does bad on. Therefore, commonly stereotyped
groups suffer from the stereotype threat on intellectual tests.
The planting of an idea in someone s mind can lead to that idea blooming into reality. When someone
is susceptible to being influenced by society s standards, it shows in how they handle everyday
activities. Davis hypothesized that if African American students were race primed , meaning they were
told African Americans do not do well a certain

It was true, a simple water source change from one source to another in the city of Flint turned into a State of Emergency as declared by the governor. Toxic water from the Flint River had filtered into thousands of homes in the town near Detroit. Keeping lead out of the drinking water is something modern society view as a fundamental and common sense action. As such, countless citizens wondered how something like this could ever happen in the United States. • 5. Reasons For Juvenile Delinquency Juvenile Delinquency and why they do it Juvenile delinquency is a big thing in the United States of America. The reason for this is that it accounts for a good portion of the percentage of crime, and it can lead to them committing crimes as an adult. There are many theories that we will discuss as reasons why these kids will end up as a statistic in juvenile delinquency and ways to slow down, if not stop, the numbers from becoming higher. What is Juvenile Delinquency First of all, you may be wondering, what is juvenile delinquency? Juvenile delinquency is crime committed by a child at the age of 18 and younger, that if committed by an adult would end up in court or prison (Wilson,2000). That means that just because a kid skipped school does not mean he or she would be considered a juvenile delinquent, but if that same child committed murder, rape, robbery, assault, etc. he or she would be considered a juvenile delinquent(Wilson,2000). Be careful with this as every state, federal government, etc. may have their own definition that may be a little different in the writing or the age at which they follow. Juvenile Delinquency Statistics There are many statistics out there for juvenile delinquency from what age or grade they are most likely to commit a crime to what race, sex and if there is a better chance to commit a crime do to divorce, being around drugs or gangs, and etc(Hawkins,2000). All of these different things could be causes or risk factors for juvenile delinquency, but does not guarantee that these kids would be criminal s later in live. One of those is the reason that juvenile delinquency needs to be looked at more and fixed is, juveniles are involved or committed at least a quarter of all serious violent act, not to include murder in the past 25 years.(Juvenile Justice) In 1999 around 2.5 million juveniles were arrested and 104,000 were due to violent crimes. There were 1.7 million juvenile delinquency cases in the courts in 1997. (Juvenile Justice) About 2,000 were from homicide, 6,5oo for rape, 67,900 for assault and the rest were things related with drugs. (Juvenile Justice) With these numbers it shows why considering juvenile delinquency is very important to get that number down that it will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How to Write Case Study http://www.cpcug.org/user/houser/advancedwebdesign/Tips_on_Writing_the_Case_Study.html HOW TO WRITE A CASE STUDY by Charles Warner There are two types of case studies: (1) factual ones depicting real organizations, people, and situations and (2) fictional ones that, although usually based loosely on actual people and events, do not use real organization s or people s names. The advantages of factual case studies are that they can provide a wealth of detail, give credibility to situations and problems, and, most important, provide real outcomes. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Often the best teaching cases are those that contain both appropriate and inappropriate problem solutions. By using this technique, writers do not signal to readers that all the solutions are either right or wrong case analysts have to figure it out for themselves. The next step is to select or create situations that give readers a clear delineation of the problems and point the way to a discussion about possible solutions. The most effective way to depict a problem is to write situations or scenes that have conflict in them: scenes in which the characters have opposite points of view, disagreements, or different solutions. Each situation or scene in a case study should either: (1) carry the narrative forward, (2) relate directly to one of the major problems in the case, or (3) provide insight into the personality and motives of one or more of the characters. The ideal situation is one that the writer knows will elicit conflicting opinions about potential solutions. http://www.cpcug.org/user/houser/advancedwebdesign/Tips_on_Writing_the_Case_Study.html Case Study Writing Tips 1. It is important for everyone to be able to assess basic medical reports and make a quick diagnosis. The patient s caretaker should monitor him carefully and contact the health care center if he displays any sudden condition of anxiety or panic attack. Case study 2 The subject of our next case study is a twenty one year old female, who is presented with a shortness of breath after completing a training session. The patient is noted to be producing an audible wheeze when breathing. The patient is noted to be currently suffering from asthma and speaks only in short sentences. Her vital signs include using Ventolin inhaler. Paramedic report shows that her pulse rate is 140 bpm, which should have been between 70 100 bpm. Higher pulse rate indicates that the person is prone to sudden asthma attacks (Dawson, 2014), especially after any physical event. Her blood pressure is 130/70, where we can see that her diastolic pressure is low. Her respiratory rate is 40 bpm, this is a highly dangerous rate for any adult, as respiratory rate should be between 12 20 for any adult. This indicates that she is suffering from Tachycardia, which is verified through her ECG reports. Tachycardia is a common type of heart rhythm disorder, where she beats faster than usual ... Former slaves were now freed and had rights granted to them by the Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendment. The family in the story tries to buy a better house in a white neighborhood, and they have to deal with racism from the white people who live in the neighborhood who are accustomed to segregation. Stranger in the Village deals with racism and segregation on a broader and worldwide scale. James Baldwin, the author, recounts his experience in a European village where he deals with racism from people who have never seen a black person before. In a historiographical context, various biographers and social historians have examined Hitler, but the overarching social background of Hitler s rise through class analysis and an examination of psychological states is an important variable in Kater s article. For instance, one famous biographer of Hitler, Alan Bullock, is criticized for not providing a more comprehensive sociological examination of Hitler in terms of class status, psychological background, and the social environment: Although it is difficult to rank the existing treatises on Hitler on a scale of values, it is clear that even the best of them, including Bullock s standard volume, have somehow failed to classify Hitler properly from a sociological or socio historical perspective (Kater 244 245). This is a major motivation for Kater, since he is attempting to decipher the underlying social factors that influenced Hitler s rise to power as a leader of the German people. More so, Kater attempts to show the influence of Hilter s charisma, which seen as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Grapes Of Wrath Summary Kenan Oestreich APUSH APUSH Book Review: The Grapes Of Wrath I think the main idea of this work was to show the bond of family, as it tells the story of Tom Joad and his search for his family after he gets out of prison. After he finds his town to be abandoned, he is informed by Jim Casy that everyone left and his family went to California to look for jobs. The next day, he meets up with them while they are packing up their possessions. As they are on their way to California, they find a couple with car problems and offer them a ride to California. The wife becomes sick, however, and they stop just before the border of California. As they edge closer to their destination, they begin to hear rumors of a depleted job market. Granma Joad dies ... They stay in the camp for a while until the lack of a steady income forces them to move yet again. The family then gets a fruit picking job, where they run into Jim Casy, who has been organizing workers and, in the process, making enemies of nearby landowners. The police kill him in front of Tom, which provokes Tom to kill the police officer. Tom retreats after this and hides while his family gets a job on a cotton farm. However, when Ruthie accidentally tells of Tom s location, Ma Joad warns Tom to run away. Tom then continues to organize workers in Jim s name. • 23. How Did Abraham Lincoln s Influence On Religion Introduction Abraham Lincoln has been remembered, both in his own lifetime and thereafter, by the nickname, Honest Abe. His characteristic trustworthiness, nevertheless, has not necessarily permitted historians to easily interpret all aspects of his personal life and political career. One such topic that has been somewhat shrouded in mystery is Abraham Lincoln s religious views. The prolific American theologian, Reinhold Neibuhr once referred to Lincoln as unquestionably our most religious president, who was superior in depth and purity to those, not only of the political leaders of the day, but of the religious leaders of the era. [i] On the other hand, a contemporary of Lincoln, William Herndon, attempted to combat the idea that Abraham Lincoln changed his views about believing in a personal God by dismissing the existence of any evidence for such a claim.[ii] However, Wayne C. Temple s more recent tome, Abraham Lincoln: From Skeptic to Prophet, has compiled scores of evidence to outline the religious views of Abraham, which were by no means static throughout ... Lincoln had moved away from the naturalistic Doctrine of Necessity for several years, and at the beginning of his presidency his view of providence might be best understood by the phrase, divine assistance. In other words, God was available to intervene in the affairs of mankind, contrasting with the impersonal Doctrine of Necessity, but the relationship between Creator and created was not quite Calvinistic in the sense that the world is to be seen as God s glorious theatre where God s will surpasses man s plans.[xxvi] Nicholas Parillo substantiates this claim by stating, Literary analysis reveals that, even though Lincoln always subscribed to the same technical definition of providence, the role that this concept played in his rhetoric underwent a gradual but dramatic change during his presidency. • 24. The Responsibility Of Organizational Effectiveness Leadership Style The responsibility of organizational effectiveness is in the hands of the institution s leaders. Leaders develop business strategies to maintain relevance or launch the business into the next generation or category. An important factor of strategic success is how managers and supervisors lead followers in a new direction. The foundation of the relationship will determine if the employees will give total commitment to the organization s strategy or do the minimal tasking. Organizational Effectiveness Organizations are continually evolving to meet the requests of the stakeholders, customers, and the environment. Strategic renewal is revamping an organization s business model, target audience, or products or services to meet the demands put on the leaders (Spector, 2013). Therefore, the success of the company s new strategy is dependent on the leaders capability to support the new internal processes with the external requirements (Spector, 2013). Strategic Leadership Strategic leadership is the capability to incorporate forward thinking ideas and concepts into a business s functions while simultaneously influencing employees to accept the new processes (Malewska Sajdak, 2014). Consequently, leaders cannot announce a change or new strategy and expect the staff to understand the latest expectations; it takes a more in depth, hands on approach to make the system work. It is characterized by its loud distorted guitars, dense bass and drum sound and vigorous vocals. Because of its different and a bit aggressive sound, metal music is not everyone s cup of tea. Sadly, metal community is often faced with a lot of stereotypical opinions. The most widespread stereotypical opinion is that all metal songs are about the devil and hell. One more stereotypical opinion is that all metal songs are just pointless screaming. All these stereotypes are wrong because metal music has a very wide range of lyrical themes and, next to usual loud songs, there are also some very nice and emotional ballads. Only problem with metal music is the fact that this kind of music is often associated with drugs, alcohol and violence. It is true that some metal fans consume drugs and alcohol, but that does not mean that all fans of metal music should be categorized as drug addicts and alcoholics because those people s addiction is a result of their bad choices and it has nothing to do with the music they listen to. Where they interact, along their margins, important geological processes take place, such as the formation of mountain belts, earthquakes, and volcanoes (Spall 1). Plate tectonics are one of the most influential factors of earthquakes. When tectonic plates slide past each other an earthquake occurs. Typical plate tectonics move at about the same rate your fingernail grows. The process is extremely slow before the plate moves significantly enough to cause an earth quake but it does happen. These tectonic plates are on the fault lines which are considered earthquake hot spots. Earthquakes typically occur in relation to other earthquakes. After shocks that follow earthquakes, typically occur around the same fault break as the original earthquake or can occur on nearby fault lines as well. Earthquakes can also be triggers for future earthquakes occurring on the same fault line or neighboring fault lines anytime from seconds to years after the orginal mainshock. In recent decades, scientists have learned that faults and earthquakes communicate with one another in far more diverse and interesting ways than the classic foreshock mainshock aftershock (Hough 1). • 52. Stereotype Threat Theory And Its Effect On Society Essay Is it possible that the way society sees a group can influence how that group performs on tests of intelligence? According to the Stereotype Threat Theory, it can. Stereotype Threat Theory refers to the conscious or unconscious belief that one belongs to a group stereotypically known for specific performance deficits. The hypothesis is that these beliefs lead to suboptimal performance on tasks specific to the stereotype (Stoet 94). Stereotype threat leads to a large gap between privileged, un stereotyped groups and affected groups in society with regards to jobs, education, and social interactions. This gap comes from stereotyped groups feeling they need to act in the way society tells them to, creating societal chains on these groups, essentially an unstated law telling them what they can and cannot do. This is because stereotype threat causes groups to identify with what society provides their status to be Experiments show commonly stereotyped groups perform worse on intellectual tests they are told their group generally does bad on. Therefore, commonly stereotyped groups suffer from the stereotype threat on intellectual tests. The planting of an idea in someone s mind can lead to that idea blooming into reality. When someone is susceptible to being influenced by society s standards, it shows in how they handle everyday activities.
