1977 Halifax Explosion
The city of Halifax provokes the tragic memories of the 1977 Halifax Explosion (Halifax History
Facts and Timeline, 2016). However, Halifax is the provincial capital of Nova Scotia and it is famous
for its magnificent Atlantic coast. Also, Halifax has undergone huge urban development and economic
growth and is now recognized as one of the largest coastal cities in Canada regarding its historical,
physical, economic and cultural diversities.(62) Halifax has a long settlement history. Centuries ago,
Halifax was occupied by the native, Mi kmaq and the French speaking Acadians who lived alongside
the east Atlantic coast. In 1749, British colonel, Edward Cornwallis with about 2500 first ... Show

the city through Mi kmaq Friendship Centre which helps them adapt to modern life. This preserves
native traditions, stories and skills. The cultural diversities of many different countries make Halifax a
unique city. Immigration plays a crucial role in creating cultural diversities such as different races,
languages, and religion. According to the government statistics, from 2008 to 2012, Halifax received
about 9000 immigrants (Nova Scotia Immigration Trends 2008 2012, 2013). the top three countries
were China, United Kingdom and United States. The most common religions were Roman Catholic,
Protestant and Orthodox Christian (Recent Immigrants in Metropolitan Areas: Halifax, 2005). The

United States Governor Case Study
The Governor, as defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary, is a person who is the leader of the
government of a state or a province. They come into power by popular election within each state, and
their terms last for four years, excluding New Hampshire and Vermont. The largest, and most essential
responsibility of a Governor s job is to represent chief legislation over their state legislature. It is
important to distinguish that a Governor is not actually apart of state legislature; moreso they are a
tool and an overseer to the state legislature. Here the Governor is granted several abilities/powers that
can help control the level of activity of lawmaking, as well as focusing on certain political issues
deemed necessary to give attention to. This includes approving state budgets, vetoing state
legislations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In comparing the candidate s stances of the criminal system, Northam intended changes seem to be
more detailed, expansive, and costly. They also appeal to the increase of the legal rights of minorities
and criminals, whereas Gillespie s plans are more focused on expanding prevention strategies and
restitution centers to victims of criminals. For example, Northam wants to decriminalize marijuana, as
he claims that it disproportionately hurts people if of color. He cites on his campaign website that
African Americans are 8 times more likely to be arrested for marijuana possession in Virginia under
current conviction laws. He also points out that the commonwealth spends more than $67 million on
marijuana, which he believes would better be repurposed for rehabilitations to promote the general
welfare of Virginia. Northam also supports policies that allow felons to vote after serving in prison,
and creating alternatives to juvenile

findings thus demonstrate that the Atlanta Police Foundation is a private organization not a state

Essay On Parking Place
Finding a parking spot in Santa Monica Pier was one of the most difficult things ever, especially with
all the heavy traffic it made it even more tedious. With the awful driving of my cousin Oscar, it took
us around 20 minutes to find a free spot in two huge different lots.
When we finally parked we decided to go separate ways since we did not want to do and see the same
things. After getting off, the two separate groups went their own different ways, my two cousins, Adair
and Oscar went to grab something to eat. While my cousin, cousin in law and I went to walk around
the different stores there was around. First we walked to Downtown and 3rd Street Promenade, a
shopping outlet which includes dining and entertainment complex. It was a ... Show more content on

I bought my cousin Zuleyma and I matching necklaces. The rock was purple and shiny, shaped like a
long diamond with a black lace. The lady told us to not let anyone touch it because we could get their
negative vibes, she also instructed us to clean it with ocean water since it had been touched before by
other people.
As expected, there was souvenir stores. They sold t shirts, sweaters, postcards, mugs, magnets, etc.
Nothing special, stuff you could find at any store.
Getting closer to the pier, we could hear a hispanic church singing choir. They were all dressed in
black and white, they seemed really passionate about their singing because they didn t let all the noise
around them distracting from giving a perfect and outstanding performance. There was a small crowd,
some of them listening and some of them recording, there was also kids laughing and running around.
The environment they gave was very church like.
There was also several lively street performances. The one that caught my attention the most was this
super funny guy jumping over 5 people who were bending over. He kept making everyone laugh while
jumping and doing amazing backflips. When he was about to jump over the five people he kept
screaming trying to get the crowd hyped. Come On, look at the black guy over here! He said. Getting

How Does Anne Frank Overcome Adversity
A person whom I have read about who had to overcome significant adversities in her life is Anne
Frank. As a comparison, I feel as though Anne Frank and I are somewhat similar, yet also very
different. This is why I chose her for this writing sample. She is someone who has gone through
significant adversity in her life and has had both unlike and yet somewhat relatable experiences to
myself. Anne Frank and I are in a very similar age group. She was in hiding for 2 years and died when
she was 16. Which means she first went into hiding, when she was 14. This is where she faced her
most significant adversity. She was 14 when her experience started and 16 when it was overcome. I
am 15 years old, therefore, my age is between both of Anne Frank s biggest moments in her life. ...

At a young age, around 8, my grandfather died. The majority of the family including myself took our
times to mourn and then continued to build our lives. My mother, however, did not, she was broken.
At the time, I remember being alone. I remember cooking for myself. I remember occupying myself.
And I remember doing my studies by myself. During that, I didn t know what was happening, and I
still don t know everything. I remember going to summer camp, being dropped off by a man I didn t
know. It was boring anticlimactic, and again, I was alone. I was never any good at making friends. I
remember being picked up from camp by my father, who at the time, I did not live with, and rarely
saw. I was told that my mother went missing and that I would be staying with my father. Later I
learned that my mother was doing drugs. And during the time she went missing, she was evading a
warrant. I grew up living with my father, who at the time was living with his parents, (my
grandparents), who I didn t get along with all that

Comparing The Lives Of Sheila And Eva Smith
In 1912, the time in which An Inspector calls is set, British society was in a state of great unrest. Even
though the play was written in 1946, Priestly reveals his opposition to materialism in society by
attacking an Edwardian family with his criticism. He writes about his worries about society at the time
and how they affect the community. By setting the play back in the Edwardian times, Priestly seems to
be warning everyone about how the way things used to be and the dangers of the same system
returning to our present society. The rich were getting richer and the poor were getting poorer. There
were genuine fears of a revolution. The community was divided into three different classes. The
Aristocracy, the Middle classes and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She refuses to notice all the pain and suffering in the outside world, just like her father. Mr Birling,
who is rather portentous , is so morally blind that he rules out any possibility that there will be a World
War two and that the Titanic will sink. Priestly makes this very ironic because at the time that the play
was written, the titanic had sunk and the World War Two had finished. Not only was Mr Birling
content with his life, but also his wife, Mrs Birling is very much the same. She is even more
hypocritical and arrogant than her husband and is a rather cold woman . She considers anybody in the
class below her to be impertinent and worthless; almost as if they are another species. Girls of that
class Therefore she cannot see how the death of a lower class person can be of any importance to the
Birlings. Mrs Birling is so morally blind that she seems genuinely shocked by her son s drink problem,
and also refuses to believe that Alderman Meggarty is a womaniser simply because of his status. Well,
really! Alderman Meggarty! I must say, we are learning something tonight. Sheila also seems to
follow in their footsteps at the beginning of the play. She uses her wealth and power to lose Eva Smith
her job just because she was jealous. She even lacks sympathy with her; But she was very pretty and
looked as if she could take care of herself. I couldn t be sorry for her . All throughout the play, Sheila

We used organizational chart to illustrates the organizational structure in showing the different levels
of management.
The 3 core dimensions of an organization structure are Complexity, Centralization and Formalization.
Complexity
Gareth R (2010) define Organizational complexity, the number of different function and divisions
possessed by an organization, determining the level of differentiation,. in this organizational structure,
differentiation is high. Basically there are 2 types of differentiation Vertical and Horizontal also known
as Tall Flat Structure.
Vertical differentiation, the way an organization designs its hierarchy of authority and creates
reporting relationships to connect organizational roles and subunits. Lower levels report to higher
levels. In Ghee Hoe, Mechanic is to report to workshop foreman and foreman is to report to Manager
and Manager is to report to Chief Director (the man who has the most power and authority).
Horizontal differentiation, the way an organization groups organizational tasks into roles, and roles
into subunits, establishing the division of labor. In Ghee Hoe, the spare part and workshop function

The Number Devil Book Report
The Number Devil A Mathematical Adventure is a trade book by Hans Magnus Enzensberger that
talks about the dreams of a boy named Robert. Robert is a typical boy who is in an algebra course. He
hates anything involving numbers and feels intimidated any time that numbers are brought into the
equation so to speak. Robert begins to dream about a Number Devil who starts to teach him the ways
of numbers. Throughout the book, we see the transformation of Robert from a boy who hates working
with numbers to a boy who yearns to learn more about why mathematical properties are true. The
Number Devil slowly begins to introduce to Robert various tricks that he can use in order to solve
problems. The Number Devil begins slowly by talking to Robert ... Show more content on

He started to spend more of his time in doors trying to work out complex math equations and spent
less of his time outdoors doing the things that any boy his age does. While this occurs, the dreams
involving the Number Devil start becoming more complex and involved. Eventually, Robert has
become a very good mathematician and has access to the society of Number Devils . The story ends
with Robert wishing to continue on his journey to mathematical enlightenment. This book, based
solely on appearance, looks best suited for younger readers. Having read the book, I still feel that this
a very good book for younger readers based on the font size of the book and the added illustrations
present. However, some of the content presented in the book could easily be supplemented in an
advanced mathematics course in high school (such as Calculus). I feel that this is a very good book
that can be used in order to introduce younger students to various concepts in mathematics. In
addition, this book can also be used in order to differentiate instruction in more advanced math
courses. Either function is an effective use to teach students more about mathematics in my

Freak The Mighty Comparison
In the book by Rodman Philbrick, Freak the Mighty , and the movie, The Mighty , starring Kieran
Culkin (as Kevin) and Elden Henson (as Max), there are many differences between the two. The book
and the movie are both about two boy s friendship and adventures together. Some of the differences
are like Kevin s death, the ornithopter being flown at the end into the medieval ages with King Arthur
s knights, and the empty book. In the movie, Freak dies in his own home over night, while in the book
Freak (Kevin) dies in the hospital. During the morning, when Kevin or Freak, is dead with his mom
alive in the back of the ambulance, Max comes out and chases the ambulance that holds Kevin, dead,
and then the ambulance stops. Kevin s mom, Gwenevere (or the Fair Gwenevere), Kevin s mom opens
the back ambulance door and explains to Max that Kevin was dieing and he knew he was going to die,
but he didn t want to tell Max about it. Max started to cry when he heard that. Then, the Fair Gwen
closes the back door to the ambulance and the ambulance drives off and away to wherever was the
destination of the ambulance. After that, Max ran, and ran, and ran until he got to the building Kevin

Meno s Theory Of Virtue Knowledge
Arête, translates to the Greek word virtue. Within Meno, Plato puts forth a question, MENO: Can you
tell me, Socrates, is virtue something acquired by teaching? Or is it something acquired not by
teaching, but by practice? Or is it something acquired neither by practice nor by learning, but
something human beings possess by nature or in some other way? (Plato; Meno, Page 159). In other
words, can virtue/arête be taught? In a way that Geometers conduct their investigations, Plato, too, has
conducted one, through a hypothesis. A hypothesis in which concludes that if virtue can be taught one
thing will happen, and if it cannot, a different thing will happen. Wait, what is meant by this? Meno, in
particular, thought that individuals/men cannot be taught anything, except for knowledge. ... Show

Okay, if virtue is knowledge, than it can be taught. However, if it is not knowledge, than virtue is
impossible to teach. Doesn t this correspond with the hypothesis? But wait, is virtue knowledge?
Within Meno, if knowledge/wisdom includes all aspects of reality, than, virtue would be knowledge.
Let s for a minute consider that virtue, is good. If there is anything good, not included, if you will, in
knowledge, virtue, then couldn t be knowledge. So, is virtue knowledge? Individuals are not good, by
nature. SOCRATES: So, since good men are not good by nature (Plato; Meno, Page 173). Therefore,
each individual must have been taught to be good, since virtue is something good, there is a chance
that is can be taught. However, can individuals be virtuous by nature, eliminating the need to be

Babylon Revisited Relationships
A family is the most important thing that an individual possesses as they are the foundation of whom
the person is, and who they will become. This is especially true if the individual lives far from where
the family resides. In Babylon Revisited, this is the case. Charlie Wales lives in Prague,
Czechoslovakia; while, his daughter, Honoria, lives in Paris, France with her uncle and aunt. However,
their unconditional love is so immense that no distance or time apart can break such. In this paper, the
relationship among Charlie and his daughter will be analyzed, as well as the relationships between
Charlie and his late wife Helen, and Charlie and the Peters family.
Fitzgerald introduces three kinds of American familial relationships in his novel. However, none of the
relationships is as pure as the love from a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although their marriage is ideal compared to Charlie and Helen s, their relationship is strained by
financial and familial matters. In financial terms, the Peters family is not as fortunate as the
Campbells. This is evident as every time that Charlie wants to speak about his financial success, he
stops and notices that Lincoln is not really interested in hearing it. The Peters family s financial
situation is clear when Lincoln tells Charlie that, While you and Helen were tearing around Europe
throwing money away, we were just getting along (516). The financial strains in the relationship has
certainly caused problems in what seems an ideal marriage, as Charlie does go to point out that they
are not a boring family at all. As for familial matters, the Peters had the misfortunate of still dealing
with Marion s mourning of her sister Helen, the possibility of losing Honoria, and to see their brother
in law as an adversary. In spite of both the Peters and Charlie viewing themselves as opponents, it is
clear that both do have some level of love and respect for each

The Historical Inquiry Of The Greek World
After 800 B.C, the historical inquiry of the Greek world changed tremendously, as did Greek life that
opened up an intellectual revolution of energy. The sixth century B.C. was the beginning it this
revolution with Thales of Miletus and continued with other philosophers (Breisach, 2007). The New
Greek philosophers pursed the basic substance from which all things known in the universe was made
up of. Historical writing was beginning written as poems by the philosophers. Writing poems in a
historical approach had the philosophers exploring the mystery of the cosmos instead of the common
problems of human existence. The fourth century is when the Sophists discovered that their attention
was connected to the phenomena that dealt with everyday human life. The Greeks grew more
confident in the practical and intellectual mastery of the world and the ways to record it (Breisach,
2007).
Herodotus and Thucydides had different views on war and their approach to the accounts of the wars.
Both aimed to write historical accounts of the wars they wrote about. Herodotus ended his cultural
history by celebrating his favorite city state Athens along with other Greek city states. In several ways,
Herodotus differed from other historians and mythologist from precedent eras. He did not completely
banish the supernatural from his Histories. His accounts of the Persian Wars he verbally expressed was
mostly due to past events to natural causes (Richard, 2003). Thucydides focused his works just on

The Four Reasons Why Greed Is Harmful To Society
50 percent of Americans believe that being greedy leads to success. However, the other 50 percent of
Americans believe that not being greedy causes one to prosper. (CBS 2017) We as Americans, live in
a time of having to choose between being ate or be eaten, and the difficulty of these issues derives
from the backbone of greed. Greed is clearly seen to be both a good thing and bad thing, but should it
really be seen as both? To begin with, according to Four Reasons Why Greed Is Harmful to Society,
greed effects a person s character and spiritual life leading to vices that harm society and economy.
(John Horvat, 2003. Being greedy effect one s character through the assumption, that they are selfish.
Being greedy also is also a result of bad economy. Because CEO s and the amount they make
compared to their workers, this clearly displays an outline of greed. According to fortune, top CEOs
make more than 300 times the average worker. (Fortune, 2017) Just do the math. If the average CEO
is making 300 more times than the average worker, then what does this do to the workers? It drives
them to leave their jobs, which then makes an impact on our economy. With being materialistic comes
many issues aside from just simply being possessive. It s similar to a snowball effect in which being
possessive leads to bad character, to which then leads to less social interactions and finally causing a
miserable life. Not being greedy provides opportunity and better character, and

Oskar s Journey In Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close
At first glance, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close may appear to simply detail the story of a young
boy aimlessly searching for a reason that his father was taken from the world. Once the reader digs
deeper however, the symbolic nature of Oskar s journey really comes to fruition. At only nine years of
age, Oskar Schnell experienced a tragedy that would be tough for most adults to understand. Without
health problems, bad habits, or any forewarning whatsoever, Oskar s father was gone, and as a result
Oskar was mentally battered. As his relationships with friends and family began to sour and he
struggled to find the meaning of his own life, Oskar desperately searched for something, or someone,
to bring back the spirit of the man he adored so much. Oskar found this, in the form of a key. While
finding this key s home seemed to be the top priority for Oskar, little did he know that this small piece

dad was there in spirit. Oskar wanted nothing more than to solve the mystery, open the lock, and make
his father proud. As he visited person after person and traveled through borough after borough, the key

the contents of any safe, storage room, or apartment the key could possibly fit into, was the idea that

E. E. Cummings Essay
E. E. Cummings: A Man of Poetry
The background of E.E. Cummings, who was a distinctive, American poet, greatly influenced his
literary achievements in poetry. This can be seen in the experiences of his early childhood.
amp;#8220;Cummings was born Edward Estlin Cummings in Cambridge, Mass., on Oct. 14, 1894 ;
(Ulanov 565). He was born into wealthy and creative surroundings. amp;#8220;Dr. Cummings was a
woodsman, a photographer, an actor, a carpenter, an artist amp;#8211; and talented in all that he
undertook. Mrs. Cummings [however] was a shy woman who overcame conventional influences to

After a lifetime of literary achievement, amp;#8220;Cummings died in Conway, NH, on Sept. 3, 1962
; at the age of 68 (Ulanov 565). Thus, his early childhood and his later years helped to shape him into
such a well known literary poet.
The themes and techniques used by E. E. Cummings distinguish his unique writing style from all other
average poets of his time. In his writings, Cummings amp;#8217;, expressed many different themes.
amp;#8220;He attacks many aspects of American life, especially Puritanism and Philistinism
amp;#8230; (Cummings, Penguin, 470). In some of his poems, he favored toward the spiritual outlook
of man.
The poems showed his transcendental faith in a world where the self reliant, joyful, loving individual
is beautifully alive but in which mass man, or the man who lives by mind alone, without heart and
soul, is dead (Cummings, Microsoft, 154)
Cummings usually stayed pretty basic with his themes, amp;#8220;A number of Cummings
amp;#8217; poems praise the simple pleasures of nature, love, and spring ; (Ulanov 566). Another
quality Cummings had that pushed him aside from other poets were the techniques he used. By just

Taji is very logical and level headed, while her husband is more emotional. This creates a nice balance
between the two parents, for the emotional side of the father is as important as the logical side of the

affect his judgment and sway his opinions in situations, such as the time when Marji got in trouble at
school. Marji had corrected her religion teacher s lie about political prisoners which went against the
Islamic regime and resulted in the teacher getting upset and calling Marji s parents. When Marji s

While Marji s father priding in his daughter s outspokenness, saying that it reminded him of his

Options For Implementing Intrusion Detection Systems Essay
Options for Implementing Intrusion Detection Systems Signature based IDS These IDS possess an
attacked description that can be matched to sensed attack manifestations. It catches the intrusions in
terms of the characteristics of known attacks or system vulnerabilities. This IDS analyzes information
it gathers and compares it to a database of known attacks, which are identified by their individual
signatures. The rules are pre defined. It is also known as misuse detection. The drawbacks of this IDS
is that they are unable to detect novel or unknown attacks, Suffer from false alarm and have to
programmed again for every new pattern to be detected. Anomaly based IDS This IDS models define
the baseline to describe normal state of network or host. Any activity outside baseline is considered to
be an attack i.e. it detects any action that significantly deviates from the normal behavior. The primary
strength is its ability to recognize novel attacks. The drawback is that it assumes that intrusions will be
accompanied by manifestations that are sufficiently unusual so as to permit detection. These generate
many false alarms as well and hence compromise the effectiveness of the IDS. Network based IDS
This IDS looks for attack signatures in network traffic via a promiscuous interface. It analyzes all
passing traffic. A filter is usually applied to determine which traffic will be discarded or passed on to
an attack recognition module. This helps to filter out known un malicious

Foreign Affairs During The Civil War
Throughout this past semester this class has brought to my attention of what this country is going
through with the current election as well as the fight against Isis, and that is we have been through it
all before. We started from the ending of the Civil War examining how it has changed our country for
the better as well as how the war started a push on domestic affairs within this country. From then to
present time many of the roles of government has been equally overpowering as well as barely caring.
This nation now needs a federal government that is there for the country s benefit, but able to keep out
of the affairs of citizens at home. Maybe its time that the federal government put more of a focus on
the foreign affairs and let state and local government handle smaller situations that waste to much time
in federal court. With the time wasted in federal government in domestic affairs we are losing ground
in our foreign affairs, our military is loosing support and our economy is going down domestically and
internationally. Our history of foreign affairs has only become more of a recent need since WWII. As a
country today we are currently in a domestic battle against having more or less focus on foreign
policy. Honestly the best thing for this country now is to keep focusing on growing our economy by
strengthening our ties with our allies and not worrying to much about our affairs at home, we have the
state and local government to take care of our domestic needs. From

Characters of Ragtime Each one of the characters in this book have a completely different personality
than the others. E.L. Doctorow portrayed all of these characters really well. What makes this book
interesting is that the characters are a mix of actual historical figures, and imagined characters made
up by Doctorow. Not many authors could blend both types of characters and get a successful result,
but Doctorow pulled it off and created a fantastic book. Baron Ashkenazy otherwise known as Tateh a
fictional character, first came into sight as an artist who sold silhouettes on the streets. He has a little

SNAP Benefits
SNAP benefits in New Mexico
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a program for food and nutrition
assistance in the form of food stamps to New Mexicans. Whereas the program is intended to ensure
food security, it is highly flawed due to its ineffectiveness. There is a lot of mismanagement of the
SNAP benefits such that the quality of their services is normally very poor. Moreover, most of the
people who rightfully qualify for the benefits do not access them whereas the less qualified ones get
access to the benefits through means that are not transparent. The SNAP benefits in New Mexico
require to be reformed because they have so many flaws (Rector Bradley, 2012).
Introduction.
First, the SNAP benefits are very ineffective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to reports obtained from the Government Accountability Office, the amount of SNAP
benefits paid in error is substantial, totaling about $2.2 billion in 2009 (SNAP/Food Stamp
Participation Data). This was according to figures tallied in 2009. The error margin has grown since
then and in 2015 the program is incurring errors worth almost double that amount. Moreover, the top
officials that manage these programs are very fraudulent. This is evidenced by the fact that the highest
beneficiaries are not the most eligible, but the best connected. The program has become more of a
scam to benefit the people that are well connected to the management. The fraud and errors that have
marred SNAP benefits programs are not only costing the taxpayers too much money, but also
mismanaging it.
The third flaw of SNAPP benefits is that they lack transparency. The programs do not disclose the
value or particulars of the products they purchase. Moreover, they do not even disclose the amount
that retailers make from trading with SNAP. This increases the challenges associated with the need for
investigative research that would have otherwise identified the fraud and errors involved. The fact that
the programs do not reveal the details of their business deals whereas they are public entities raises
issues of transparency (Maass,

The Federalist No. 10 Summary
The Federalist No.10 was written by James Madison. The main purpose of this paper was to make
people see that there was a different kind of factions. This essay talks about how Republican
government is taken in consideration by the constitution .Having a republic and looking at democracy
is important in many ways. It all depends on how large a republic is and what the results it can have.
In the first paragraph, it talks about how a well constructed union needs to be able to control the
violence of a faction. There are problems in factions ,for example the governments are too unstable,
public goods are disregard in the conflict of rival parties, measures are too often decided not according
to the rules of justice and the rights of the minor parties, but by the superior force of an interested and
overbearing majority . Majority rule overruns minorities or the rights of minorities. ... Show more

Madison thinks that the majorities are going to take over and go over the rights of others and he says
that participatory democracy is not good. For Madison, there were only two ways to control a faction,
this was by removing the cause and controlling the effect of a faction. When Madison says that liberty
is to faction as the air is to fire , it means that air can feed the fire and liberty cannot be controlled by
anyway with factions is the same because it cannot be controlled. Federalist papers are more focus on
how it is going to control the effects of the factions. A way to control an effect of a faction was with a

Relationship Between Intelligence And Creativity
What is the relationship between intelligence and creativity?
In this essay I will explore the correlation between intelligence (IQ) and creativity (DT), and whether
one is influenced or can be predicted by the existence of the other. The relationship between IQ
(intelligence quotient) and creativity has been an anchor point for psychological research. Numerous
amounts of psychologists have carried out research in order to find evidence to support this idea of a
correlation or evidence to disprove the hypothesis that IQ and creativity could be related.
IQ is defined as a measure of intelligence that shows the ratio of an individual s mental age to their
chronological age, this is then multiplied by 100 (Cattel 1972). Creativity cannot be measured by
undertaking an IQ test, creativity is subjective and the simplest way of defining it is the ability to
create original, useful and surprising new things. However, over the years pioneering research has
inspired psychologists to devise tests to measure creativity. The most famous Divergent Thinking test
is Guildfords Alternative Uses Task established in 1967. This test proposes that the individual
involved should think of alternative uses for a common item such as a brick. This way of measuring
Divergent Thinking is universally used in contemporary testing of creativity.
In order to analyse and examine whether or not creativity and IQ have a relationship and whether its
influential on each other, I looked at the founding

The Minimum Wage
There have been multiple debates on whether or not the minimum wage should be raised. Minimum
wage can produce an impact on everyday life more than most may think. It is not just about more
money in a person s pocket; it can affect the economy in multiple ways. Many people think it would
be a good idea to raise the average minimum wage, but they do not understand or take the time to
think of the disadvantages. The minimum wage is the least amount a worker can be paid at a job, by
federal law. The present minimum wage is set at seven dollars and 25 cents. The wage can be
determined by votes of the public or the average living cost. Before the Fair Labor Standards Act,
corporations were free to choose any pay rate of their choice. This ... Show more content on

Another disadvantage to a rise in pay includes the possibility that some people may lose their
government benefits due to their new annual income, such as food stamps or health insurance.
The loss of federal and state aids could produce a greater hardship on people and their families than
the preexisting minimum wage. For those who have already earned a higher pay due to noticeably
hard work or time spent working for a company, the raise of minimum wage would cause the
experienced workers to demand more. If the company is already struggling to pay the difference of the
raised minimum wage, there will be no option but to either refuse the request of an experienced
worker or fire employees. Even though workers have dreamed of a pay raise for years, it has been
concluded that the money will not be coming very soon. It is expected to be a few years until an
increased minimum wage could be developed (Mcgeehan). This does not include all of America due to
larger cities usually having higher wages. Some states have more of a demand due to the different
living conditions and different prices of products. Smaller towns have been known to produce smaller
prices for average products due to supply and demand. This means the ratio of pay to living expenses
averages out. The outcomes aren t all bad. There are also some good

Most Efficient Method Of Quantifying Radioactive Strontium
Summary This report, Most Efficient Method of Quantifying Radioactive Strontium , determines what
the most efficient method is for quantifying radioactive strontium when analyzing samples for
radioisotopes of strontium, specifically Sr 89 and Sr 90. The analysis was performed from information
collected by studying journal articles, recalling personal experiences at work, and reading textbooks
about the different types of particle detectors. Information collected from the referenced sources and
personal experience show that the Cherenkov counting method is the most efficient method for Sr 89
determination and the proportional counting method is the most efficient method for Sr 90
determination. The report finds that proportional counting is the best method for Sr 90 determination,
Cherenkov counting is the best method for Sr 89 determination and a method that incorporates
different detectors is the most efficient method. It is recommended for an analytical laboratory to
always first use Cherenkov counting or proportional counting for strontium analysis. It is also
recommended to create technical work instructions for a multi detector method that is updated every 6
months with improvements on the method. 1.0 Introduction The analytical chemistry laboratory at

Shakespeare s Macbeth-Tragic Hero
The Tragedy of Macbeth
The Tragedy of Macbeth is one of Shakespeare s greatest stagewrites. He shows Macbeth in many
different forms as a character. Macbeth is an ever changing character. Lady Macbeth adds on to this
changing personality. Shakespeare hits all these points in three categories, known as tragic hero,
dynamic character, round character.
Macbeth is best known as a tragic hero because he fits into all the elements of a tragic hero which are,
high social rank, tragic flaw, suffers complete ruin or death and faces downfall with courage and
dignity. Macbeth has a high social rank in the beginning of the play he started out as the Thane of

Surfactant Essay
Surfactants!
A surface active agent, also known as a surfactant is a substance that surrounds the inner surface of the
lung and consists of four proteins and six phospholipid fats that are manufactured inside of the lung of
the human body, however this substance can also be created artificially. The four proteins include the
hydrophilic or water attracting proteins SP A and SP D and the opposite hydrophobic or water
repelling proteins, SP B and SP C. The main purpose of a natural surfactant found in the body is to
decrease the amount of surface tension of fluid (attraction of surface particles found in a liquid) that
can be found in an organ. In the lungs for example this is achieved by securing the small air sacs
inside of the alveoli (lungs). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This substance is produced when a human digests lipids or fats. According to Sareen Gropper and Jack
Smith s Advanced Nutrition and Human Metabolism bile is produced through the process of
chemically altering cholesterol, which is a type of fat found in a human s blood. This process takes
place in the liver and bile acids are produced. These bile acids are then conjugated or united with
taurine and glycine to produce biosurfactants known as bile salts. The existence of bile salts inside of
bile gives the substance the capacity to amalgamate lipids and fats with their aqueous (watery)
environment inside of the gallbladder. According to Sareen Gropper and Jack Smith s Advanced
Nutrition and Human Metabolism bile is released from its origin (gallbladder) into the small intestine.
Through the process of emulsification the bile substance in the small intestine disintegrates fats into
much tinier particles which can be digested and absorbed at a much more efficient and quicker rate.
This evidently shows that without bile and in turn bile salts the digestion of fats will not be

madness. The play does include characters that add to the disarray of the town more than others.
Abigail Williams is the character that is most responsible for the chaotic happenings in The Crucible.
A major reason Abigail is most to blame is she is vengeful and jealous of others. Abigail is envious

Joseph Heller s Catch 22
Joseph Heller s Catch 22 embodies the idea of the corrupt selfishness of the military system that
dehumanizes the men of it s ranks. Often, the bureaucratically inclined superior officers focus only on
personal advancement. In doing so, they eliminate any shred of humanity of the men who serve under
them. Ultimately, each commanding officer demonstrates a complete lack of moral judgment that
considers only their own personal agenda at the cost of the common soldier. Heller s treatment of a
corrupt bureaucratic system first emerges in his portrait of Major Major. Among the most pathetic
characters in the book, Major Major holds a position of immense authority. Unfortunately, he was
promoted to squadron commander. Colonel Cathcart directly pointed out, But don t think it means
anything, because it doesn t. All it means is you re the new squadron commander. (88) The men of the
squadron, almost on cue, begin to avoid Major Major. He is no longer seen as the same person prior to
his promotion, but only as the rank. As the men begin to avoid Major Major, he begins to avoid
responsibility. In fact, he implements a system to help avoid contact with others. He says I don t want
anyone to come see me while I m here. (Heller 98) Major Major s accidental advancement in the
military ranks was due to an, I.B.M. machine with a sense of humor almost as keen as his father s,

ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, is the nation s largest
community organization of low and moderate income families, working together for social justice and

Dominican Republic and Peru (Acorn.org). ACORN is a big proponent of the living wage and has
fought (and won) for many cities including San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland, and Chicago to only
name a few. The living wage was introduced in order to provide workers with a wage that can endure

6. What was the culmination of China s internal crisis by 1850? Why?

Options For Implementing Intrusion Detection Systems Essay Options for Implementing Intrusion Detection Systems Signature based IDS These IDS possess an attacked description that can be matched to sensed attack manifestations. It catches the intrusions in terms of the characteristics of known attacks or system vulnerabilities. This IDS analyzes information it gathers and compares it to a database of known attacks, which are identified by their individual signatures. The rules are pre defined. It is also known as misuse detection. The drawbacks of this IDS is that they are unable to detect novel or unknown attacks, Suffer from false alarm and have to programmed again for every new pattern to be detected. Anomaly based IDS This IDS models define the baseline to describe normal state of network or host. Any activity outside baseline is considered to be an attack i.e. it detects any action that significantly deviates from the normal behavior. The primary strength is its ability to recognize novel attacks. The drawback is that it assumes that intrusions will be accompanied by manifestations that are sufficiently unusual so as to permit detection. These generate many false alarms as well and hence compromise the effectiveness of the IDS. Network based IDS This IDS looks for attack signatures in network traffic via a promiscuous interface. It analyzes all passing traffic. A filter is usually applied to determine which traffic will be discarded or passed on to an attack recognition module. This helps to filter out known un malicious ... Foreign Affairs During The Civil War Throughout this past semester this class has brought to my attention of what this country is going through with the current election as well as the fight against Isis, and that is we have been through it all before. We started from the ending of the Civil War examining how it has changed our country for the better as well as how the war started a push on domestic affairs within this country. From then to present time many of the roles of government has been equally overpowering as well as barely caring. This nation now needs a federal government that is there for the country s benefit, but able to keep out of the affairs of citizens at home. Maybe its time that the federal government put more of a focus on the foreign affairs and let state and local government handle smaller situations that waste to much time in federal court. With the time wasted in federal government in domestic affairs we are losing ground in our foreign affairs, our military is loosing support and our economy is going down domestically and internationally. Our history of foreign affairs has only become more of a recent need since WWII. As a country today we are currently in a domestic battle against having more or less focus on foreign policy. Honestly the best thing for this country now is to keep focusing on growing our economy by strengthening our ties with our allies and not worrying to much about our affairs at home, we have the state and local government to take care of our domestic needs. Whereas the program is intended to ensure food security, it is highly flawed due to its ineffectiveness. There is a lot of mismanagement of the SNAP benefits such that the quality of their services is normally very poor. Moreover, most of the people who rightfully qualify for the benefits do not access them whereas the less qualified ones get access to the benefits through means that are not transparent. This was according to figures tallied in 2009. The error margin has grown since then and in 2015 the program is incurring errors worth almost double that amount. Moreover, the top officials that manage these programs are very fraudulent. This is evidenced by the fact that the highest beneficiaries are not the most eligible, but the best connected. The program has become more of a scam to benefit the people that are well connected to the management. The fraud and errors that have marred SNAP benefits programs are not only costing the taxpayers too much money, but also mismanaging it. The third flaw of SNAPP benefits is that they lack transparency. The programs do not disclose the value or particulars of the products they purchase. Moreover, they do not even disclose the amount that retailers make from trading with SNAP. This essay talks about how Republican government is taken in consideration by the constitution .Having a republic and looking at democracy is important in many ways. It all depends on how large a republic is and what the results it can have. In the first paragraph, it talks about how a well constructed union needs to be able to control the violence of a faction. There are problems in factions ,for example the governments are too unstable, public goods are disregard in the conflict of rival parties, measures are too often decided not according to the rules of justice and the rights of the minor parties, but by the superior force of an interested and overbearing majority . • 29. Relationship Between Intelligence And Creativity What is the relationship between intelligence and creativity? In this essay I will explore the correlation between intelligence (IQ) and creativity (DT), and whether one is influenced or can be predicted by the existence of the other. The relationship between IQ (intelligence quotient) and creativity has been an anchor point for psychological research. Numerous amounts of psychologists have carried out research in order to find evidence to support this idea of a correlation or evidence to disprove the hypothesis that IQ and creativity could be related. IQ is defined as a measure of intelligence that shows the ratio of an individual s mental age to their chronological age, this is then multiplied by 100 (Cattel 1972). Creativity cannot be measured by undertaking an IQ test, creativity is subjective and the simplest way of defining it is the ability to create original, useful and surprising new things. However, over the years pioneering research has inspired psychologists to devise tests to measure creativity. The most famous Divergent Thinking test is Guildfords Alternative Uses Task established in 1967. This test proposes that the individual involved should think of alternative uses for a common item such as a brick. This way of measuring Divergent Thinking is universally used in contemporary testing of creativity. In order to analyse and examine whether or not creativity and IQ have a relationship and whether its influential on each other, I looked at the founding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is not just about more money in a person s pocket; it can affect the economy in multiple ways. Many people think it would be a good idea to raise the average minimum wage, but they do not understand or take the time to think of the disadvantages. The minimum wage is the least amount a worker can be paid at a job, by federal law. The present minimum wage is set at seven dollars and 25 cents. The wage can be determined by votes of the public or the average living cost. Before the Fair Labor Standards Act, corporations were free to choose any pay rate of their choice. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another disadvantage to a rise in pay includes the possibility that some people may lose their government benefits due to their new annual income, such as food stamps or health insurance. The loss of federal and state aids could produce a greater hardship on people and their families than the preexisting minimum wage. For those who have already earned a higher pay due to noticeably hard work or time spent working for a company, the raise of minimum wage would cause the experienced workers to demand more. If the company is already struggling to pay the difference of the raised minimum wage, there will be no option but to either refuse the request of an experienced worker or fire employees. Even though workers have dreamed of a pay raise for years, it has been concluded that the money will not be coming very soon. It is expected to be a few years until an increased minimum wage could be developed (Mcgeehan). This does not include all of America due to larger cities usually having higher wages. Some states have more of a demand due to the different living conditions and different prices of products. Smaller towns have been known to produce smaller prices for average products due to supply and demand. This means the ratio of pay to living expenses averages out. The outcomes aren t all bad. Ultimately, each commanding officer demonstrates a complete lack of moral judgment that considers only their own personal agenda at the cost of the common soldier.
