2. Working Title
 Dynamics – Dynamics means change and this is an effective word to use for a
title as it gives the impression that the content of my magazine is current and
up to date. However it is not very catchy and this means it is not as effective
as some of my other potential titles.
 Beat – I like this title as it is short, snappy and most importantly music
related. It would mean that my magazine would be instantly recognisable as a
music magazine and this is important for catching possible new readers
attention.
 Riff Magazine – Out of my 3 ideas this is my favourite as it is music related
but also different to other magazines titles. It is memorable as it snappy and
unique, and I could also shorten it to ‘RM’ and use that as a logo.

3. Genre
I want my magazine to be quite musically diverse so that it will appeal to
as many people as possible. However the genres I am going to focus on
mainly are pop and indie, mainly because I know the most about these
genres and they were the two most popular genres from my survey
therefore I know that my target audience enjoy them.

4. Price and Publication
 I am going to price my magazine at £1.99 because this was the price range
that my survey results recorded as the price people would be most willing to
pay for a magazine.
 I think £1.99 would be a suitable price as it is not too expensive that people
would struggle to pay for it but with this price I will be able to ensure that it
is a good quality magazine and that I can include more freebies.
 I have decided that I am going to publish my magazine fortnightly. I didn’t
want to publish it weekly because I don’t think there would be enough
content to publish weekly and if I published monthly I think readers may lose
interest. £1.99 as a price would suit my fortnightly publication too as the
price is half way between a weekly price and a monthly price.

5. Reader Profile
 My magazine is going to be directed at middle class readers who have a
passion for music but also enjoy reading about other new related to
music/celebrities. The average reader age is student age (16-19) so I will
include content that I know will attract readers of this age, I am going to
make my magazine as gender neutral as possible as this will attract a wider
audience.
 Although I have a relatively young target audience I am only going to publish a
physical paper copy of my magazine as my survey showed that people would
much prefer to have this format rather than read online.

6. Magazine Style
 My magazine is called Riff Magazine, it will be published fortnightly and will
focus on current, popular music and artists. My magazine will touch on all
genres of music but focus mainly on pop and indie, this is because I think that
a large number of my target audience of 16-19 year olds enjoy this kind of
music and this was backed up by the research I collected through my survey.
 Riff Magazine will be sold in newsagents and supermarkets at a price of
£1.99, however this will be the only place and format in which readers and
can purchase RM as I have decided to only publish paper copies, as this format
came back as the most popular from my survey.
 The articles in my magazine will be interviews with artists about their music
as well as stories about the artists themselves, I found this was common in a
lot of music related magazines that already exist. Finally, the style of my
magazine will be relaxed and youthful as I feel this will best suit my target
audience,
