Specific: Is there a clear aim
To get noticed and become popular among my target audience to make
target sales of the album. Make it noticed by everyone not just the target
audience.
Measureable: How will you measure the effect?
Amount of song and album sales. Promotion from radio stations and how
popular they are on music channels and radios.
Achievable: Is it something that you can do?
Yes if the band is promoted properly and people notice them and also if he
music is good enough to get noticed by everyone.

Realistic: Is this something that would actually happen?
Maybe because the band would be similar to alternative bands that exist
now that are popular.

Young Adults/Teenagers male and female.

Typical teenagers and young people.
Why do they like this band?
Because they the like the type of music they play and listen to a lot of
alternative music.

The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, Two door cinema Club

NME,
What TV channels would they be on?
ITV or BBC for live performances or interviews, MTV Music channels

Celebrities, musicians, TV channels, YouTube Channels

Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Public events,
How would you use social media?
I would use it to promote the band and give information about songs and tour

What merchandise would you use to promote this band?
T shirts, mugs, posters, accessories (hats, bracelets etc), Phone cases,
badges.

Manage the message
What is the message you want to communicate about this band?
That they are young positive and funny people that are capable of making good
music for the target audience and a lot of other people to like.
What is the main selling point of the band and the album?
This could be that it’s new, exciting music, challenging established genre rules.
They are young men with good dress sense that appeal to young
people/teenagers. They are also different to the regular alternative band which
makes the more individual and stand out from the crowd.
It could be a return to form from an older, more established artist.

You could choose to use quotes from critics.

You could foreground good feedback in your adverts or your social media.

Hyperbole
Every marketing and PR campaign uses hyperbole. Its role is to
make things seem better than they really are by using exaggeration
and emotive words or imagery.
What are the words you will use? What words will help you sell and
will appeal to your audience?
Huge, Massive, humongous, extreme,

Events
What events would you put on as part of the promotion of this band
and album?
Performances at charity events or festivals to get them noticed. Also CD
signings in shops.
Would they play small secret gigs?
If it meant the got noticed or promoted then yes, it could appeal to people
there and help them get more publicity.
Would they appear for a signing in a flagship record store?
Yes because it would attract fans and increase and give off a positive
effect on the public. It will make people unaware of the band interested
about them because they might want to know who it was that was signing
CD’s outside the store. Also the fans could show their friends their signed
CD which would spread the bands information through word of mouth.
Would they play on TV chat shows?

Yes because it gives them a chance to talk about the new album and get

What is the motivation behind this project?
The motivation is the fact that if we try hard enough we could make the
band very popular in the music world.
What is it an important project for you?
Because it will show that I have good marketing and PR skills and I can
show that I can promote a band well. Also if the band reach the target
then it shows I am able of reaching targets.
Why is it an important project for the band?
Because it will get them more publicity which then brings in more fans and
more people to support the band which will then help reach the 1 million
record sales.

Motivation of media
Why would the media be interested in this project?
Because it is a fresh new alternative band. They are different to everyone
else which appeal to different kinds of people not just the alternative fans.
Which parts of the media or media products (be specific) would be
interested in the project?
Digital and print as people will want coverage of the band on TV
(interviews, live performances etc). The media will also want interviews in
magazines and promotion through print adverts on billboards, in
magazines, on bus tops etc. They will be on the internet as well with
videos of them being on YouTube and also adverts of the band before a
YouTube video, also promotion through social networking sites.

Yes if the band is promoted properly and people notice them and also if he music is good enough to get noticed by everyone. Realistic: Is this something that would actually happen? Maybe because the band would be similar to alternative bands that exist now that are popular. Time-related: Are there timescales for your project? 4
  • 5. Audience Who is the audience for this band? Young Adults/Teenagers male and female. What age are they? 14-25 What do they look like? Typical teenagers and young people. Why do they like this band? Because they the like the type of music they play and listen to a lot of alternative music. Who else do they like? The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, Two door cinema Club 5

That they are young positive and funny people that are capable of making good music for the target audience and a lot of other people to like. What is the main selling point of the band and the album? This could be that it’s new, exciting music, challenging established genre rules. They are young men with good dress sense that appeal to young people/teenagers. They are also different to the regular alternative band which makes the more individual and stand out from the crowd. It could be a return to form from an older, more established artist. You could choose to use quotes from critics. You could foreground good feedback in your adverts or your social media. 8
  • 9. Hyperbole Every marketing and PR campaign uses hyperbole. Its role is to make things seem better than they really are by using exaggeration and emotive words or imagery. What are the words you will use? What words will help you sell and will appeal to your audience? Huge, Massive, humongous, extreme, 9
  • 10. Events What events would you put on as part of the promotion of this band and album? Performances at charity events or festivals to get them noticed. Also CD signings in shops. Would they play small secret gigs? If it meant the got noticed or promoted then yes, it could appeal to people there and help them get more publicity. Would they appear for a signing in a flagship record store? Yes because it would attract fans and increase and give off a positive effect on the public. It will make people unaware of the band interested about them because they might want to know who it was that was signing CD’s outside the store. Also the fans could show their friends their signed CD which would spread the bands information through word of mouth.   • 11. Internal motivation What is the motivation behind this project? The motivation is the fact that if we try hard enough we could make the band very popular in the music world. What is it an important project for you? Because it will show that I have good marketing and PR skills and I can show that I can promote a band well. Also if the band reach the target then it shows I am able of reaching targets. Why is it an important project for the band? Because it will get them more publicity which then brings in more fans and more people to support the band which will then help reach the 1 million record sales. 11
  • 12. Motivation of media Why would the media be interested in this project? Because it is a fresh new alternative band. They are different to everyone else which appeal to different kinds of people not just the alternative fans. Which parts of the media or media products (be specific) would be interested in the project? Digital and print as people will want coverage of the band on TV (interviews, live performances etc). The media will also want interviews in magazines and promotion through print adverts on billboards, in magazines, on bus tops etc. They will be on the internet as well with videos of them being on YouTube and also adverts of the band before a YouTube video, also promotion through social networking sites. 12
