It discusses the role and purpose of a literature review, which is to select and evaluate available documents on a topic to fulfill certain aims and express views on how the topic should be investigated. Various types of research are defined, including basic research, applied research, summative research, and more. The document also discusses methodology, theoretical frameworks, structuring a thesis, writing problems and solutions, how to create a literature review plan and proposal, citation styles, and dos and don'ts of literature reviews.
