Why Rumor Is Defined By The New York Stock Exchange
Rumor is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as an unverified or unconfirmed statement or
report circulating in a community. In the financial community, rumors have an effect on the direction
of markets. The New York Stock Exchange in the United States is the epitome of how rumors can
impact trade. The fluctuation of stock and commodity (raw material) prices on a daily basis is, in part,
due to the daily news cycle. Although reports by news companies are supposed to be factual,
statements made can be unverified. Because of the large scale of social media, anyone can make up
rumors that can go viral. Stock traders rely on the news to determine what stocks they will buy or sell.
News reports include important information such as: new product developments, company
restructures, commodity reports, and scandals. Because of the rapid news, trading on the stock market
happens very fast and it gets chaotic. As the buyers and sellers interact their process sets the stock
price. The news effects the stock price because if a positive story circulates, there will be more buyers
for a stock, which will raise the stock price; if a negative story circulates, there will be fewer buyers,
which will lower the stock price. This constant process can either earn a big payday or be a total loss.
Because of the money that people stand to either make or loose, rumors have an effect on the way
individuals behave on the stock market.
To better understand how rumors work within the financial

How would you feel if you find out all the pictures you took didn t actually go to the receiver you
sent? I m sure all of you are familiar with snapchat right now and I know all of us sent many pictures
to our friends just for their own amusement and to make their life better with our amazing faces.
I m sure we have all heard though whatever we post online will stay with us forever, but snapchat is
safe because their policy is to allow a temporary picture, right? Today I will explain how their pictures
actually stay with you forever, with snapchat basic policy, how it affected one college student and
ways to protect yourself. So, Snapchat pictures disappears in 10 seconds or less right? Not really! I
mean of course there is a screenshot and we are notified when that happens. And our generation we all
have this app. In fact this app has 100 million users as of May last year according to Craig Smith a
writer for the digital assistant on apps. And it has being very enjoyable to us, cause their policy even
states that this is an amazing thing, it makes our lives better and its very enjoyable. But I m sure we all
want to know if our pictures did disappear, in their update say allow for the picture to actually not

Jazz Music Race And Culture In Urban America
As Jazz grew out of blues and slave music to become independently popular in the 1940 s and 50 s, it
also facilitated a conversation about racial equality and black peoples place in American society. Jazz
was recognized by many as black people music due to its roots in slave music and the blues. This
controversy not only brought jazz to the attention of a larger audience, but also, gave it cultural
relevance as music that acted as resistance music and, alternately, brought the warring skin colors
together in harmony. Without the political air that surrounded jazz, the genre would not have carried
the same musical or social influence, as many white people loved the music, but did not necessarily
love the people making it; this is exemplified by the music itself and described in the writings of many
prominent jazz scholars. Jazz music began in the Deep South as the product of African American
discrimination and struggle, and was able to develop due to their eventual independence after the Civil
War. For a long time, blacks weren t being recognized. Their talents and capacities were debased,
devalued and degraded (West 501). Peretti s novel, The Creation of Jazz: Music, Race, and Culture in
Urban America, discusses the racial and cultural dynamics of jazz music. He argues that it is possible
to gain an understanding of jazz by examining the social changes that occurred as a result of the genre
s development. Peretti addresses the controversial belief that jazz is more

pGLO Transformation: A Look into Our Future with DNA and Genetics
Abstract
This lab investigated the central dogma of molecular biology by studying the expression of jellyfish
Green Fluorescent Protein in E. coli (Mardigan, 2011). After transforming E. coli with the GFP gene
under the arabinose operon promoter, GFP expression was analyzed with and without arabinose.
Induction was seen only in media with arabinose. To further study GFP protein and structure, an SDS
Page or gel electrophoresis was conducted where proteins were charged to allow them to move in an
electrical field in terms of their size. To further study the role of the arabinose operon in GFP
expression an overnight culture was done where the plate was frozen and incubated to induce optimal
protein folding. The GFP was then purified. Centrifugation, use of buffers, and a column was used to
separate the GFP and bacterial cells.

coli the bacteria that will be used to house the GFP is the competent cell. They are called competent
cells because they are able to accept foreign DNA or plasmids. They are first observed in 1928 by
Frederick Griffith where he proposed that bacteria are capable transferring genetic information
(Havarstein, 2010). These cells such as E. coli are normally made competent by exposure to a rich
calcium environment, where the mixture calcium chloride will be used in. Calcium chloride s positive
charges will cancel out the negative charge of the plasmid and E. coli s cell wall weakening it, making
it easy to pass.
By subjecting these bacteria through sudden temperature changes or heat shock, a difference in
pressure in the outside and the inside of the cell is made, that causes pores, through which the mobile
supercoiled plasmid enters. After normalizing the cell temperature, its walls will heal. When the E.
coli has now taken up the plasmid with GFP, it will be able to grow in agar plates with ampicillin, an

Essay On Borderline Personalities
Borderline personalities are impulsive and have extreme views of people as either good people who
have their best interest, or bad people who do not have any good intentions. These people are unstable
in relationships and have a strong fear of being abandoned. They may form an intense personal
attachment with someone they barely know and end it without no apparent reason. They might also
engage in a pull and push behavior that usually ends with their partner leaving permanently. Self
mutilation, suicidal gestures or attention seeking destructive behaviors are not uncommon. Borderline
personalities are three times more likely to be female, rather than male. They say that it is more
common in women because, . Others blame BPD on early onset incest, other sexual abuse, or Post

Reflection On Volunteering At Ruth Fyfe Elementary School
For my community service project I will be volunteering at Ruth Fyfe Elementary School. After
contacting the school s administration I was assigned to 3 different classes. My first challenge was to
work with 3rd graders, in my first assigned class, and help them with their multiplication. I also had to
help two other different 4th grade classes. I had to be extremely outgoing for students to listen. I was a
personal tutor for mere minutes because there were many students to give my attention to. Ruth Fyfe
is an elementary on W Bonanza Rd, pretty much on the other side of town. In my assigned 3rd grade
class I didn t exactly participate with every student equally. I felt a bit biased towards some of the
students because some students cared more than others. I loved how some students were mentally
engaged. I talked to all of the kids, however, I mainly helped those who actually showed effort even if
they were incorrect. The 4th grade class was slightly more advanced but not too much of a difference
in regards to maturity. I was assigned two 4th grade classes for a total of 4 hours (2 hours each). The
4th graders were more literate, however they still struggled. I tried my best to help them with their
reading, but I can only help to an extent because I have a problem with reading fast as well. In

them to be exposed to successful people. Successful meaning the person has made it to college. In the
4th grade class, college was a huge focal point (well while I was there anyways). Students can use me

Individual Sense Of Coherence
The current study elaborates on the experiment conducted by Sansgiry and Kavita (2006) by seeking
to identify if an individuals sense of coherence and coping mechanisms are predictors of testing
anxiety amongst college students. Sense of coherence is considered to be a key faculty contained with
an individual s personality, which responds to a stressful event. Furthermore, an increased sense of
coherence allows an individual to effectively cope with negative events or outcomes. Participants for
this study were given questionnaires prior to the final exam of the school year, which measured their
anxiety levels. Researchers for the experiment compared their anxiety levels with their final test
scores. The outcome of the experiment indicates that students who utilize emotions to cope with
stressful situations had a lower sense of coherence. Alternatively, those with higher sense of ... Show

Anxiety for this particular experiment is measured utilizing the German version of the Test Anxiety
Inventory which contains 15 questions to assess the subjects interference, confidence issues, worry
and excitement. Half of the subjects were briefed prior to taking the test on how adaptive testing
operates; specifically for each correct answer given, the next question will increase in difficulty.
Results of the study indicated that individuals who had higher test anxiety prior to the start of the
experiment faired poorer than those who had lower anxiety scores. Alternatively, individuals with high
anxiety levels who were given a traditional fixed item test faired similarly to their low test anxiety
counterparts. One potential limitation of the experiment is that the results did not take into account the
potential cause of the anxiety, such as stereotype

The Legacy Of Vincent Van Gogh
A man who suffered his entire life with mental illness and a lack of love and support, Vincent van
Gogh had no easy life. Yet, his works of art not only paint the walls of museums across the world, but
also continue to influence the lives and visions of artists 126 years after his untimely death. Vincent
van Gogh died poor while never selling more than one painting. He died while never reaching his goal
of an artistic community in Arles. Nevertheless, the legacy he leaves behind as one of the greatest
artists in human history is nothing shy of Leonard da Vinci or Michelangelo. However, would it be
appropriate to say Vincent van Gogh had a good life? This question sums up to whether the greatness
of his work and the legacy he left after death overshadow the sufferings he endured while living.
A man who spent 27 years in prison for anti government activity and only at 76 years old was his
vision realized, Nelson Mandela had no easy life. Yet, Mandela s anti apartheid movement in South
Africa not only brought equality and peace to his people, but also made him a Noble Peace laureate
and the first democratically elected President of South Africa. Throughout the world, many people see
him as a hero and an icon, there are also those who take inspiration from his life and aspire to be like
him. In comparison to van Gogh, Mandela appears to have lived a better life reaching his success
while living and leaving an equally great, if not much more impactful, legacy after his death.

Evaluate relevant positive effects of adult support for children, young people and their families
There are many was that adults can help to extend children s speech, language and communication.
Children who are in a nursery aged between 0 5 and 5 11 carry out phonics activities. Phonics enables
children to experience regular, planned opportunities to listen and talk about what they hear, see and

Spelling needs children to recall the word from memory and recompose it without being able to see it.
Children who are in secondary school aged between 11 16 carry out spelling activities. During nursery
and primary school they learnt the basic phonics to help them read, write and spell. Spelling help to
further develop each child and young person s skills. For example within my setting I was working
with the nurture group and they received ten spellings every week. Most of the children within the
nurture group had SLCN. The children with SLCN always struggled with their spellings, so therefore I
provided my support to whoever wanted it. All the spellings they received every week had the same
sound in common, e.g. heat, meat, cheat, great. All of these words have eat in common. Within my
support I explain to the children that the words may sound differently but the spellings they always
received had sounds in common so therefore pointing this out they was able to think of the starting of
the word and knew each work has the same sound in and was then able to achieve more marks out of
ten on their spellings. This helped to boost their confidence and self esteem because they knew they
could do it.
Young people that attend college and university aged between 16 25 may carry out key

The Causes And Effect Of Resistance On The Government...
This dissertation reviewing the results of research by academic writers on issues of resistance to
change, which occurred both in the public and private sectors. Significantly, special attention will be
given to writings that discuss the causes of the emergence of resistance to change. In this case, the
works of Anis Khassawneh, and Rosemond Boohene and Asamoah Appiah Williams will be critically
reviewed.
1. Anis Khassawneh
Khassawneh works considered relevant to the part of this study because it has been investigated and
identified the main causes of employee resistance to changes in government organisations in Jordan.
He discusssed the causes of resistance to change in developing countries. He cited the experience of

Meanwhile, Khassawneh (2015: 26 27) has conducted a research and found that there are four factors
that trigger the rejection of the employee to change in government organisations in Jordan. There are
due to the lack of participation of employees, inadequate incentives, distrust between higher
management and workers, and lack of clarity in the goals of change. He formulated these results by
selecting the top four answers of respondents.
The works of Khan (1989), Jreisat (1988), and Khassawneh (2005) carried out in different time
periods, which is about 17 years. Nevertheless, there are similarities research findings about the
reasons that led to the employee refuses to change, namely the lack of commitment of the leadership
in making changes. This work has provided insight into some of the research questions on the causes
of resistance, so it is considered relevant to this dissertation.
Moreover, the work of Khassawneh can be relied on. He is a former government employee. He also is
a lecturer in the training programs conducted by the Institute of Public Administration, so it is already
familiar with the change of administration in the public sector in Jordan. Although not mentioned how
long he was active in the field of study of bureaucratic reforms,

Acute Lupus Pneumonitis
Interstitial lung disease is much less common in SLE, being more frequent as disease duration
increases. Nonspecific interstitial pneumonia is the most common histological pattern found in
patients with SLE (Torre and Harari, 2011). Acute lupus pneumonitis is a rare manifestation of lupus,
with an incidence ranging between 1 12%. Patients with acute lupus pneumonitis usually present with
fever, dyspnea, cough, tachypnea, and pleu¬ritic chest pain. Physical findings commonly include basal
crackles, and, when severe, central cyanosis. Chest radiographs and CT scans show diffuse alveolar

SLE. The most common forms of anemia are autoimmune hemolytic anemia, iron deficiency anemia,
anemia of chronic disease, drug induced myelotoxicity, anemia of chronic renal failure and rarely
types such as pure red cell aplasia, B12 deficiency anemia and myelofibrosis (Samohvalov et al.,

Why People Have Joint Pain
Why Many People have Joint Pain and How to Help Ease It As people age they begin to feel that they
are experiencing pain in their joints more so than they did during their youth. There can be many
reasons for this pain. Or can it be just a part of ageing. During our youth we don t pay much attention
to how hard we played, what we eat, or if we took vitamins. Our mothers for the most part were
responsible for what we eat, how much sleep we got, and in general how well we take care of
ourselves. As children our bodies are pretty resilient and other than broken bones, skinned knees,
bumps, and bruises pretty much heal and go away without any need or concern to see a physician.
Years ago mothers made sure that we got the proper amount of sleep, which for the most part once we
got to sleep our bodies took care of how much sleep we got all by its self, for most children that was
anywhere from 8 to 10 hours a night if undisturbed. Most children got a balanced diet, some even got
a daily vitamin or eat foods that were enriched in vitamins such as cereal and milk. A lot of kids ate in
the cafeteria at school. Schools did their best to make sure that the lunches were well balanced.
Children for the most part played outside for recess which usually involved some sort of running,
hopping, skipping, or throwing a ball. And when they got home after some kind of snack they couldn t
wait to get out to ride their bike, or play some sort of game that normally again

Mc Organic Acid
After exposing the sample to UV radiation the visible band is determine to be at the maximum
absorbance, as shown in Figure 1. This absorbance band at 563 nm and 579 nm corresponds to the
reaction SP → MC. By monitoring the exponential decay function of MC, we are able to construct a
linear fit of the data, as shown in Figure 3, which confirms a first order decay. The corresponding rate
constants were determined from the slope of the fit, and it was found that as we increase [SP] the rate
is relatively constant. Further, this reaction was done on different solvents, which includes acetone and
cyclohexane. Following Table 2, it seems that with the addition of cyclohexane, the rate of decay of
MC is faster. This indicates that due to the non polar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the inclusion of an organic acid, it protonates the MC to form MCH+. This compound itself has a
different absorbance band relative to MC, which was found to be around 408 nm in acetone and 453
nm in cyclohexane. Because the reaction must follow this sequence MCH+→ MC → SP, the
corresponding rate of decay must be slower. As shown in Table 1 and 2, the decay rate with the
addition of TFA is significantly lower relative to just SP in the solution. However, increasing acid
concentration slows down the decay rate because more of MC is being converted to MCH+. Ergo, it
will have a longer process to convert all of the MCH+ back into SP. Again, comparing the rate of
decay of MCH+ at different solvents, it was determined that the environment did not have a drastic
effect on the conversion. In addition, the average of the rate of decay was calculated for the first four
samples and was found to be 0.00630 s 1 and 0.0243 s 1 for acetone and cyclohexane, respectively,
which gave an error of 26.0 % and 40.3 %. The inconsistency with these values was most likely
caused by the insufficient time interval for the monitoring of the decay of

Analysis Of Laura Mulvey s Essay, Visual Pleasure And...
Many things have changed over the past few decades. Gay marriage is becoming more accepted as a
legitimate relationship, men and women are no longer being held captive to their roles of masculinity
and femininity, and sexuality is becoming an even more accepted topic of discussion. While all of
these changes are moving in the right direction, and everyone should be treated equally even on
account of their race, gender, or sexuality, the one thing that has not changed is very much evident in
today s music scene. Today, women are still being objectified as part of good publicity as well as to

originally published in 1975, Mulvey makes many claims that are still relevant to today s media, and
especially relevant to the music industry. Many of the claims that Mulvey makes are very heavily
supported by the kinds of messages that a popular hip hop song, Get Low by Lil Jon, makes. The
messages that the song sends speak volumes, and as the song aligns with claims that Mulvey makes,
the song becomes increasingly more objectifying.
Before delving into media, one must understand a little bit about the psychoanalytic theory that
Mulvey makes her claims from. First, Freud suggests that because women are without a penis, they
have a castration complex, so they compensate for this by having children. The child s first love
interest is their mother, and this is where desire begins. Later

that when the shot changes we are looking from his perspective. This particular moment in the clip
represents the Hitchcockian voyeuristic theme that the film is based on. The scene then fades out (to

in the audiences initial perception of the mysterious woman. The close up utilizes the entire frame to

her way of greeting Jefferies, which in turn, immediately establishes their romantic relationship. She
then seamlessly makes her way around the apartment turning on three lights while introducing herself

How Is Adversity Shown In The Great Gatsby
Napoleon Hill once stated, Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an
equal or greater benefit. From George Washington to Nelson Mandela, greatness is cultivated from
adversity during turbulent times. Horace s assertion is correct in view of the fact that adversity causes
people to act, reveals vulnerabilities, and forces people to adapt. Notably, people are disinclined to fix
what is not broken, only when faced with an obstacle do they act. For example, in the novel The Great
Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Gatsby s desire for the love of Daisy Buchanan was the impetus for his
quest to live an affluent life through any means possible. He would not have taken advantage of his
resources if not faced with the complication of how to procure Daisy s attention. In brief, without a

Aftereffects Of The Las Vegas Shootings
I will be providing information from three articles. The three articles I have chosen are about the
shooter of the Las Vegas shooting on the country music festival that happened on the night of October
1, 2017. From what we have been told by the media, the shooting that happened during the concert
was from the Mandalay Bay Hotel window just across the street from the concert. The aftereffects of
the concert left about 500 people injured and almost 60 people killed, which includes himself. The
shooting has affected everyone in the United States because almost everyone is scared that it was a
terrorist attack and that there will be more closer to their homes. Some people think the shooter was
working alone and some people, such as the people that were attending, say that there was more than
just the shooter from the hotel. I will examine and analyze how the three authors have written about
the Las Vegas shooting. I will examine each author s credibility, the evidence that the author uses, and
logical and/or emotional points of the story. My essay will also include assessments on the potential
biases from the the Media Bias Fact Check site for the three article I have found.

general of companies. The response rate was very high with an average of 96.4 percent. The exclusion
of these observations might lead to sample selection bias, but in our case this is not a concern as the
non response rate is very small (around 3.6 per cent of total cases) and also our sample remains still
representative (see, Cameron and Trivedi, 2005). Pooling data. The pooled data technique is used to

independent surveys from the period 2002, 2003 2004. An independently pooled cross section
technique is obtained by pooling randomly sampled cross sections at different points in time
(Wooldridge 2006).

Feminism And The Second Wave
Unlike the First and the Second waves the Third wave does not have a starting point or a particular
moment. The period from early 1990 s to present is often defined as the Third wave. This wave is
considered as the backlash of the movements and achievements made in the second wave. Many
issues like Webster decision in 1989, that made a way to create abortion laws and Planned Parenthood
Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania v. Casey made a law that women should get counseling
before abortion led to the lesser chances of availability of abortion. Since then, even the education in
abortion was also seemed to gradually decrease. By 1990, there had been bombings on the abortion
clinics. Also in 1976 , Snuff, a porographic film pushed women to form a Women against Violence in
Pornograohy and Media as they realized that pornography degrades women of her standards and
ultimately leads to rape and violence. Many feminists believed that pornography violates women s
rights. Media played a major role in reflecting the views of women to be called feminists. This wave
particularly focuses on intersectionality. Women of color also expressed their thoughts of being
divided on the basis of color and what it means to them to be a feminist. Some of the papers like This
Bridge Called My Back, took birth which portraits the concerns of women of color and third world
women and are also significant to those involved in the third wave. Many feminist writers like Bell

Human Potential In Annie Dillard s Living Like Weasels
Mark Twain once said, The two most important days in your life are the day that you are born and the
day you find out why. Everyone has their own priorities in life. Each person finding his or her own
passion in order to reach one s full potential. Regardless of whether it is a occupational, spiritual, or
emotional goal, everyone should find that aspect in his or her life that sets fire to their soul so much
that he or she is willing to do absolutely anything in order to achieve it. Annie Dillard s piece Living
Like Weasels from emphasizes the human potential in everyone by preaching for everyone to follow
his or her dreams. The essay begins with a brief explanation of weasels including an example of how

Her first example occurs in paragraph four when she is describing the pond. By using a remarkable
piece of shallowness, the author not only emphasizes the significance of the pond but also describe the
depth of it. The reader can literally picture a shallow pond in his or her mind while also understanding
how much life it can support, hence the term remarkable, as further explained in the paragraph. Once
Dillard finally encounters the weasel, their look was described that of two lovers, or deadly enemies.
By using this comparison, she exemplifies the strength of the connection, even though it is described
using near opposite manners. With the use of this paradox, Dillard succeeds at showing the inability to
remove oneself from a powerful moment. As one moves further into the story, it is evident to any
reader that her use of learn something of mindlessness truly wraps her story together in a sense that it
continues her style while still relating it to the theme. The idea of learning from nothing emphasizes
the thought that simplicity is acceptable when one is chasing his or her dream. Without a focused

Shostakovich Essay
The symphony is a large and complex musical piece that has the potential to express a wide breadth of
experiences and emotions. While the symphony was developed intensely in the eighteenth century in
Vienna, the tradition of symphony has long since spread to other countries, providing the composers
of different nationalities the opportunity to introduce their own colors into the symphony.
Consequently, as different countries develop musical characteristics in the symphony to create their
own symphonic tradition, these symphonies can be seen as an expression of national identity. Whether
voluntarily or involuntarily, the circumstances surrounding the works and the composers intentions for
their work have a profound impact on the relationship between a symphony and the national identity it
expresses. Some symphonic composers, limited by the rules set forth by the government, were forced
to compose symphonies that strongly expressed the identity of a nation. An example of such a
composer is Dmitri Shostakovich. A Russian composer in a time when the Soviet Union controlled all
aspects of life, as well as music, Shostakovich was once criticized for some of his works for not
adhering to the expectations of the government. Shostakovich s opera The Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk
District and his ballet The Limpid Stream were both denounced, which placed great pressure on
Shostakovich because such denunciation could lead to violent consequences (Taruskin 22). As a result,

What Is The Similarities Between Yeats And Sailing To...
William B. Yeats , Sailing to Byzantium and John Keats s Ode on a Grecian Urn deal with the themes
of art, nature, and spirit. Each poem is rich in symbolism and imagery, which help the fabric of the

Both poems are examples of art containing much imagination and romantic lyricism. The works of W.

shallow and odd for Yeats speaker to craving to be a brilliant creation instead of human, however
looking further, it is not about the gold itself. It is about the speaker having the capacity to be a
statement of craftsmanship for all ages. The utilization of the interminability is for the benefit of other

Media Coverage Of Crime Statistics
Crime statistics are been used by individuals, groups in society and government as a source of
information about the nature and extent of crime, locally and nationally. Crime statistics and media
coverage of statistics is used by government as a basis and justification for their criminal justice
policies in order to respond to crime effectively. A good example of this is the drug classification
policy in England and Wales whereby changing media coverage of incidents of the usage of cannabis
influenced the government to move the drug from class B to C in 2004, and back to class B in 2009.
Crime statistics helped the public to know how much crime, and which particular type of crime are in
a particular area. For example, how much crime is in

The Four Functions Of An Economic System
An economic system is the result of individuals (consumers and producers), groups (firms, trade
unions, political parties, families etc) and the government coming together and interacting in a legal
and social society. The function of an economic system is to resolve the basic economic problem
scarcity which means that the resources are limited but wants are infinite. This distribution has three
dimensions:
* What is to be produced
* How is it to be produced
* For whom is it to be produced.
There are 2 economic systems which are commonly used world wide. There are: the free market
system in which the role for the government is limited and the planned system where the government
takes viturally total control. In both of these systmes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The resources are allocated through a planning mechanism. Some goods and services are prvided free
and some rationed or sold
The characteristics of a command economy:
* Factors of prodction are owned publicly by the government
* No one think of himself Everyone is assumed to be working for the common good
* There are no free enterprise
* There is very little competition which gives rise to black markets
* Since there is no competition there is no price mechanism. The authorities set the prices, and they
are forced to set the prices low to make sure that it is affordable to everyone
* The government has the responsability of planning how all the resources should be used. The decide
what should be produced and in what quantities. In other words they set the output and price levels.
What is to be produced?
The consumer does not have any control at all on what will be produced. The planners or the
government decide what will be produced, but the main problem which arouses is that the government
does not know what exactly the consumers need. In other words supply is dictated by a governing
body which tries to predict demand however this process is very difficult and it leads to heavy losses.
How will it be produced?
There is no such thing as firms in a planned economy. The government direct the resources into
producing units They have no autonomy, so basically the government decides the quantities of output
and the methods of production

Lukashenko: Political Control Alexander Lukashenko was nominated in 1994 as Belarus first
President. His presidential term should have lasted five years, but in 1996, he extended his term to
2001 with a referendum. He won an additional five years in the 2001 election, which Western
observers have called undemocratic (BBC News, 2010, para. 15). Yet another referendum in 2004
lifted the two year rule, which allowed him to run again in 2006. There was considerable outrage
when he won the 2006 election with over 80% of the votes. Lukashenko is very controlling and went
to great lengths to prevent losing the election. Lukashenko denied the opposition access to state owned
media so they could not advertise or campaign against him. In 2004, he even went so far as to send his
biggest potential rival to jail (About.com, 2010: para. 2). After his 2006 landslide win, people became
very angry and began protesting. About 10,000 people braved a heavy snow storm, freezing
temperatures and threat of government reprisals to show their support for the opposition (BBC News,

Solving The Problem Of An Aging Prison Population
Solving the Problem of an Aging Prison Population
Joshua N. Handy
American Military University Abstract
The American correctional system is facing many emerging issues. One of these issues is the
exponential increase in aging offenders. In the past few decades, the number of geriatric offenders
incarcerated has multiplied at an increasing rate. This essay addresses the issue of aging offenders in
the correctional system; the problems that these offenders create and the underlying issues related to
the aging prisoner population as they relate to correctional management. This essay also proposes a
solution to the problem.
Solving the Problem of an Aging Prison Population The United States of America has the largest
corrections system in the world. The incarceration rate in the U.S. is over one in every one hundred
citizens, the highest ratio in the world. The population of prisoners is expanding at a rate at which the
U.S. correction system can just manage. The introductions of three strikes , tougher sentences, and
mandatory minimum sentence laws have vastly contributed to growth in prison population. Inmates
serving mandatory longer sentences are a part of one the biggest growing concerns with the American
correctional system, an aging population with increased needs. Between 1981 and 2010, the number of
U.S. prisoners age 55 and over increased from 8,853 to 124,900 (Criminal Justice Hub, n.d.). If the
problem is not addressed and the rate continues to grow, by

The Empire Of The Ottoman Empire
Three of the greatest empire in the history the ottomans in turkey, the Safavids in Persia and the
Mughals in the Indian subcontinent emerged in the Muslim world between the 14th and the 18th
centuries. These three greatest empire resulted in a powerful cultural interaction. The empires
expanded their power and thus Turkish, Mongol and Arab ways of life blended. It resulted in a
flowering of Islamic culture that raised higher in the 16th centuries. The empires ruled through Islamic
Sariah s. They based the authority on Islam. Their basement of power were strong armies, advanced
technology and legal administrative officers. The Ottomans Build a Vast Empire The ottomans
established a vast empire that lasted for a long time, more than 600 years and blended many cultures
in one. The empire s history is still important as many modern societies, from Algeria to Turkey,
originated from the Ottomans rule. Setting the Stage By 1300, the Byzantine Empire was declining.
The nomadic Turks were invading the lands. They had a long history of invading others. But they
were not united. From this place, a strong leader will emerge in and rule the empire strongly. Turks

HIPAA Security Rule The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) is a national act
that was signed into law by President Bill Clinton. The Act was meant to establish standards that are to

For example, if the monster had been destroyed earlier, Justine would not have been blamed for the
murder of William. She would not have been killed for something she was not guilty of. The monster
did not fit in. The story tells of how he was tall, had a big stature, great strength, scars, and generally
looked scary. Because of these features, he scared everyone he met, causing him to be utterly alone.
Rather than face the cruelty of the world and be cast out from the population, it would have been
better for the monster if he was just destroyed. The monster didn t have a purpose to live his life. He
was created so that Victor could make an advancement in science, but he was not brought to life with a

Dow’s Expansion into Nuclear Weapons and the Aftermath Essay
Dow s Expansion into Nuclear Weapons and the Aftermath
Rocky Flats Plant, a nuclear weapons production facility managed by Dow from 1951 to 1975,
produced plutonium triggers for hydrogen bombs. A number of accidents took place under Dow s
management during this period. In 1957, radioactive particles were released into the atmosphere due
to the burning of plutonium dust by a fire in the facility. In 1967, 3,500 barrels (560 m3) of lubricants
and solvents, laden with plutonium, leaked into the ground. Another fire took place in 1969 and it was
the costliest industrial accident in the USA up to that time. Finally, Rockwell International took over
the management of the facility in 1975.

Both films are musicals about cabaret dancers except Gentlemen Prefer Blondes stars two leading
ladies whereas Cabaret only has one leading lady. Another similarity between the two films is the gold
digger aspect, Lorelei being the gold digger in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes are only interested in
materialistic things which is very similar to Sally s interest in a wealthy man except Sally is also
interested in what a wealthy man can do for her acting career. A few of the differences in the two films
were that they are filmed during different era s and so being that Gentlemen Prefer Blondes was
filmed in the early fifties, it is much more conservative and even though Cabaret is set in the thirties
the film was actually filmed in the early seventies when it was popular to really push the envelope and
so this films plot is much more risqué. Another difference with these two films is that in Cabaret the
plot is more dramatic really focusing on the rise of Nazism and the topic of sexual preference by
having the three main characters becoming involved in a love triangle. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes was
more of a carefree comedy with not a lot of the plot. Overall I would have to say that the plot for
Cabaret had more substance, therefor keeping me more interested than Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

Echo 550
Echo 550 and Acoustic Liquid Handling Technology
High throughput screening (HTS) is essential in the process of finding a potential drug candidate, and
automation is key for a good screen both in terms of robustness and reproducibility.
Since the day I joined Perlara, I kept hearing about the Echo machine on one of our benches back
there but it is only a couple of weeks back that I actually got to learn and use it. I knew that the Echo
550 from Labcyte Inc. was one of the most prized possession of Perlara s automation pathway. I was
truly amazed at the fact that it transfers small amounts of compounds from our drug library source
plates on to destination plates using sound energy. It was fascinating that the transfer was made

ADE can be used to transfer a range of solvents with viscosity ranging from 0.3 to 10 centipoise. The
technology is also capable of working with volatile liquids such as ethanol and acetone which have
low viscosity and surface tension. The ADE technology can effectively transfer a range of solvents
with varying viscosity effectively with low coefficient of variation (CV). The CV is as low as 8%
when the plate has unknown water and/or DMSO compositions. Since transfer by ADE technology
does not involve any physical contact, it minimizes the risk of contamination and/or cross
contamination. This technology also proves to be cost effective in the long run because it does not
involve the use of pipette tips. In conclusion, the Echo 550 using ADE technology is a very effective
tool in the drug screening automation

Why Have Conscription Made Vietnam Unpopular
Why the use of conscription made Vietnam unpopular The Vietnam War was a war that took place
because America want to stop the spread of communism from Russia and china that had happened in
North Korea from happening in Vietnam as their leader was communist. My topic for this speech is
conscription. Conscription was used in Vietnam so that the U.S.A and Australia would have more
soldiers to fight a war that they were losing to a country with outdated weapons. They were losing war
that they had no business being in the first place. You can kill ten of my men for every one I kill of
yours. But even at those odds, you will lose and I will win. ( HO CHI MINH, a warning to French
colonialists, 1946) What is Conscription? Conscription is a law that states that if you are from the age
18 to 41 and are not a single parent or married with kids and you are over the age of 39 this was used
during the Vietnam War. Hell no, we won t go! ( ANONYMOUS, Anti Vietnam War slogan) ... Show

war that people were able to watch from their televisions at home live so they could see all the villages

conscription unpopular was because the media was showing protest songs like fortunate son by

The horn sounded, and that s when chaos had ensued. I ran swiftly towards the Cornucopia, and when
I heard two cannons sounded throughout the arena. I had decided to risk a small glance behind me,
trying to find out what that noise had made. When I turned, I found Russia standing proudly over
Belarus and Denmark s corpses. My breath caught in my throat, and while tripping over my feet I
grabbed an alcohol bottle and a rag. After another cannon sounded, I spun around to view the entirety
of the arena. Lithuania was running off with Estonia, who had fishing gear. Hungary was dead, lying
on the ground with a knife in her chest. Russia made eye contact with me, and I ran out as fast as I
could, nearly puking as I passed Den s mangled corpse. Italy,

Characteristics Of Montessori
Society is the aggregate of people, in general, thought of as living together in more or less organized
communities with shared laws, traditions, and values. It is based on relationship among people, and if
more than two people are gathered, it can be a society. and Furthermore, social life may refer to an
individual s interpersonal relationships. Each individual in the world belongs to a society and has a
responsibility not to derange the order of the society as a part of it.
People label themselves to identify themselves; compared with others to find out who they are, such as

bonds of social life, deprives it of nourishment. Younger children absorb many things from older
children by observing them in the environment, and older children learn to take care of younger

experiment at Cavendish laboratory was a easier and simpler way of detecting radio waves. Ernest
Rutherford made a vast discovery with uranium. He discovered that if u place uranium near foil, there
was one type of radiation being easily soaked up or blocked. While a different type had no trouble

  • 2. Why Rumor Is Defined By The New York Stock Exchange Rumor is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as an unverified or unconfirmed statement or report circulating in a community. In the financial community, rumors have an effect on the direction of markets. The New York Stock Exchange in the United States is the epitome of how rumors can impact trade. The fluctuation of stock and commodity (raw material) prices on a daily basis is, in part, due to the daily news cycle. Although reports by news companies are supposed to be factual, statements made can be unverified. Because of the large scale of social media, anyone can make up rumors that can go viral. Stock traders rely on the news to determine what stocks they will buy or sell. News reports include important information such as: new product developments, company restructures, commodity reports, and scandals. Because of the rapid news, trading on the stock market happens very fast and it gets chaotic. As the buyers and sellers interact their process sets the stock price. The news effects the stock price because if a positive story circulates, there will be more buyers for a stock, which will raise the stock price; if a negative story circulates, there will be fewer buyers, which will lower the stock price. This constant process can either earn a big payday or be a total loss. Because of the money that people stand to either make or loose, rumors have an effect on the way individuals behave on the stock market. To better understand how rumors work within the financial ... • 4. Jazz Music Race And Culture In Urban America As Jazz grew out of blues and slave music to become independently popular in the 1940 s and 50 s, it also facilitated a conversation about racial equality and black peoples place in American society. Jazz was recognized by many as black people music due to its roots in slave music and the blues. This controversy not only brought jazz to the attention of a larger audience, but also, gave it cultural relevance as music that acted as resistance music and, alternately, brought the warring skin colors together in harmony. Without the political air that surrounded jazz, the genre would not have carried the same musical or social influence, as many white people loved the music, but did not necessarily love the people making it; this is exemplified by the music itself and described in the writings of many prominent jazz scholars. Jazz music began in the Deep South as the product of African American discrimination and struggle, and was able to develop due to their eventual independence after the Civil War. For a long time, blacks weren t being recognized. Their talents and capacities were debased, devalued and degraded (West 501). Peretti s novel, The Creation of Jazz: Music, Race, and Culture in Urban America, discusses the racial and cultural dynamics of jazz music. He argues that it is possible to gain an understanding of jazz by examining the social changes that occurred as a result of the genre s development. Peretti addresses the controversial belief that jazz is more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pglo Transformation Lab Shaddi Martinez Ms. Herrera LSC 348 Lab 12/3/16 pGLO Transformation: A Look into Our Future with DNA and Genetics Abstract This lab investigated the central dogma of molecular biology by studying the expression of jellyfish Green Fluorescent Protein in E. coli (Mardigan, 2011). After transforming E. coli with the GFP gene under the arabinose operon promoter, GFP expression was analyzed with and without arabinose. Induction was seen only in media with arabinose. To further study GFP protein and structure, an SDS Page or gel electrophoresis was conducted where proteins were charged to allow them to move in an electrical field in terms of their size. To further study the role of the arabinose operon in GFP expression an overnight culture was done where the plate was frozen and incubated to induce optimal protein folding. The GFP was then purified. Centrifugation, use of buffers, and a column was used to separate the GFP and bacterial cells. Introduction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... coli the bacteria that will be used to house the GFP is the competent cell. They are called competent cells because they are able to accept foreign DNA or plasmids. They are first observed in 1928 by Frederick Griffith where he proposed that bacteria are capable transferring genetic information (Havarstein, 2010). These cells such as E. coli are normally made competent by exposure to a rich calcium environment, where the mixture calcium chloride will be used in. Calcium chloride s positive charges will cancel out the negative charge of the plasmid and E. coli s cell wall weakening it, making it easy to pass. By subjecting these bacteria through sudden temperature changes or heat shock, a difference in pressure in the outside and the inside of the cell is made, that causes pores, through which the mobile supercoiled plasmid enters. After normalizing the cell temperature, its walls will heal. When the E. coli has now taken up the plasmid with GFP, it will be able to grow in agar plates with ampicillin, an ... My first challenge was to work with 3rd graders, in my first assigned class, and help them with their multiplication. I also had to help two other different 4th grade classes. I had to be extremely outgoing for students to listen. I was a personal tutor for mere minutes because there were many students to give my attention to. Ruth Fyfe is an elementary on W Bonanza Rd, pretty much on the other side of town. In my assigned 3rd grade class I didn t exactly participate with every student equally. I felt a bit biased towards some of the students because some students cared more than others. I loved how some students were mentally engaged. I talked to all of the kids, however, I mainly helped those who actually showed effort even if they were incorrect. The 4th grade class was slightly more advanced but not too much of a difference in regards to maturity. I was assigned two 4th grade classes for a total of 4 hours (2 hours each). The 4th graders were more literate, however they still struggled. I tried my best to help them with their reading, but I can only help to an extent because I have a problem with reading fast as well. Individual Sense Of Coherence The current study elaborates on the experiment conducted by Sansgiry and Kavita (2006) by seeking to identify if an individuals sense of coherence and coping mechanisms are predictors of testing anxiety amongst college students. Sense of coherence is considered to be a key faculty contained with an individual s personality, which responds to a stressful event. Furthermore, an increased sense of coherence allows an individual to effectively cope with negative events or outcomes. Participants for this study were given questionnaires prior to the final exam of the school year, which measured their anxiety levels. Researchers for the experiment compared their anxiety levels with their final test scores. The outcome of the experiment indicates that students who utilize emotions to cope with stressful situations had a lower sense of coherence. Alternatively, those with higher sense of ... Yet, his works of art not only paint the walls of museums across the world, but also continue to influence the lives and visions of artists 126 years after his untimely death. Vincent van Gogh died poor while never selling more than one painting. He died while never reaching his goal of an artistic community in Arles. Nevertheless, the legacy he leaves behind as one of the greatest artists in human history is nothing shy of Leonard da Vinci or Michelangelo. However, would it be appropriate to say Vincent van Gogh had a good life? This question sums up to whether the greatness of his work and the legacy he left after death overshadow the sufferings he endured while living. A man who spent 27 years in prison for anti government activity and only at 76 years old was his vision realized, Nelson Mandela had no easy life. Yet, Mandela s anti apartheid movement in South Africa not only brought equality and peace to his people, but also made him a Noble Peace laureate and the first democratically elected President of South Africa. Throughout the world, many people see him as a hero and an icon, there are also those who take inspiration from his life and aspire to be like him. In comparison to van Gogh, Mandela appears to have lived a better life reaching his success while living and leaving an equally great, if not much more impactful, legacy after his death. ... Most of the children within the nurture group had SLCN. The children with SLCN always struggled with their spellings, so therefore I provided my support to whoever wanted it. All the spellings they received every week had the same sound in common, e.g. heat, meat, cheat, great. All of these words have eat in common. Within my support I explain to the children that the words may sound differently but the spellings they always received had sounds in common so therefore pointing this out they was able to think of the starting of the word and knew each work has the same sound in and was then able to achieve more marks out of ten on their spellings. Why People Have Joint Pain Why Many People have Joint Pain and How to Help Ease It As people age they begin to feel that they are experiencing pain in their joints more so than they did during their youth. There can be many reasons for this pain. Or can it be just a part of ageing. During our youth we don t pay much attention to how hard we played, what we eat, or if we took vitamins. Our mothers for the most part were responsible for what we eat, how much sleep we got, and in general how well we take care of ourselves. As children our bodies are pretty resilient and other than broken bones, skinned knees, bumps, and bruises pretty much heal and go away without any need or concern to see a physician. This absorbance band at 563 nm and 579 nm corresponds to the reaction SP → MC. By monitoring the exponential decay function of MC, we are able to construct a linear fit of the data, as shown in Figure 3, which confirms a first order decay. The corresponding rate constants were determined from the slope of the fit, and it was found that as we increase [SP] the rate is relatively constant. Further, this reaction was done on different solvents, which includes acetone and cyclohexane. Following Table 2, it seems that with the addition of cyclohexane, the rate of decay of MC is faster. This indicates that due to the non polar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the inclusion of an organic acid, it protonates the MC to form MCH+. This compound itself has a different absorbance band relative to MC, which was found to be around 408 nm in acetone and 453 nm in cyclohexane. Because the reaction must follow this sequence MCH+→ MC → SP, the corresponding rate of decay must be slower. As shown in Table 1 and 2, the decay rate with the addition of TFA is significantly lower relative to just SP in the solution. However, increasing acid concentration slows down the decay rate because more of MC is being converted to MCH+. Ergo, it will have a longer process to convert all of the MCH+ back into SP. Again, comparing the rate of decay of MCH+ at different solvents, it was determined that the environment did not have a drastic effect on the conversion. In addition, the average of the rate of decay was calculated for the first four samples and was found to be 0.00630 s 1 and 0.0243 s 1 for acetone and cyclohexane, respectively, which gave an error of 26.0 % and 40.3 %. • 17. Analysis Of Laura Mulvey s Essay, Visual Pleasure And... Many things have changed over the past few decades. Gay marriage is becoming more accepted as a legitimate relationship, men and women are no longer being held captive to their roles of masculinity and femininity, and sexuality is becoming an even more accepted topic of discussion. While all of these changes are moving in the right direction, and everyone should be treated equally even on account of their race, gender, or sexuality, the one thing that has not changed is very much evident in today s music scene. Today, women are still being objectified as part of good publicity as well as to get more views on videos. In Laura Mulvey s essay, Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema, that was originally published in 1975, Mulvey makes many claims that are still relevant to today s media, and especially relevant to the music industry. Many of the claims that Mulvey makes are very heavily supported by the kinds of messages that a popular hip hop song, Get Low by Lil Jon, makes. The messages that the song sends speak volumes, and as the song aligns with claims that Mulvey makes, the song becomes increasingly more objectifying. Before delving into media, one must understand a little bit about the psychoanalytic theory that Mulvey makes her claims from. While the symphony was developed intensely in the eighteenth century in Vienna, the tradition of symphony has long since spread to other countries, providing the composers of different nationalities the opportunity to introduce their own colors into the symphony. Consequently, as different countries develop musical characteristics in the symphony to create their own symphonic tradition, these symphonies can be seen as an expression of national identity. Whether voluntarily or involuntarily, the circumstances surrounding the works and the composers intentions for their work have a profound impact on the relationship between a symphony and the national identity it expresses. Some symphonic composers, limited by the rules set forth by the government, were forced to compose symphonies that strongly expressed the identity of a nation. An example of such a composer is Dmitri Shostakovich. A Russian composer in a time when the Soviet Union controlled all aspects of life, as well as music, Shostakovich was once criticized for some of his works for not adhering to the expectations of the government. Handy American Military University Abstract The American correctional system is facing many emerging issues. One of these issues is the exponential increase in aging offenders. In the past few decades, the number of geriatric offenders incarcerated has multiplied at an increasing rate. This essay addresses the issue of aging offenders in the correctional system; the problems that these offenders create and the underlying issues related to the aging prisoner population as they relate to correctional management. This essay also proposes a solution to the problem. Solving the Problem of an Aging Prison Population The United States of America has the largest corrections system in the world. The incarceration rate in the U.S. is over one in every one hundred citizens, the highest ratio in the world. The population of prisoners is expanding at a rate at which the U.S. correction system can just manage. The introductions of three strikes , tougher sentences, and mandatory minimum sentence laws have vastly contributed to growth in prison population. Inmates serving mandatory longer sentences are a part of one the biggest growing concerns with the American correctional system, an aging population with increased needs. Between 1981 and 2010, the number of U.S. prisoners age 55 and over increased from 8,853 to 124,900 (Criminal Justice Hub, n.d.). After doing some further experiments at Manchester university involving firing alpha particle at high speeds into foil, Rutherford made a groundbreaking discovery. He discovered that nearly all of the mass of an atom is in the nucleus. Later on while at Manchester university, Ernest Rutherford discovered the nuclear model. This discovery marked the establishment of nuclear physics and was the starting point of the invention of the atomic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
