Lean- Six Sigma Meaning
• Lean- Speed- efficiency –principles of
elimination waste. Its accelerates the speed of all
processes across the organization.
• Six Sigma-Accuracy-Quality-reduce defects and
having it right the first time. It is a philosophy
that higher quality results in lower cost,
increased productivity and enhance customer
service.
Six Sigma Philosophy
• Vision: employees relentlessly drive to learn
their processes, satisfy customer and improve
business performance.
• Strategy: A data driven process/structure
approach to problems solving and process
improvement.
• Goal: To pursue higher performance levels
Waste
• The are seven types of waste. The include:
Transportation, Inventory, Motion, Waiting,
Over production, Over processing and defect.
• Some typical causes of waste are:
 Conveyance of work requirement (Lack of Communication)
 Reprioritization of work
 Multiple work flow
 Lack of training
 No structure or process in place
 Ineffective and outdated policies and procedures
Added Value Measure
• Does the customer value the end result?
• Does the activity change the product/service?
• Was the activity performed correctly the first
time?
 Without a structure/ measure/ governance and
control processes will decay overtime.
 Do not accept the status quo because there is
always room for improvement.
 Lets generate the desire to start eliminating
waste.
Is there a better way to do things?
Yes!
 Better Communication, collaboration and corporation
 Be Proactive
 Cross Train your staff
 Strive to add value to your work
 Make data driven decision (Facts backing decision)
 Recognize and identify waste and have the courage to call on it.
 Teamwork
