• Located on NC State University’s Centennial Campus
• Opened in November, 2007
• Our Building of Ideas has spaces and state-of-the art
  technology for:
   – conducting research
   – teaching both face-to-face and online
   – developing multi-media educational resources
   – working collaboratively
   – convening meetings related to our mission

North Carolina 1:1 Learning Technology Initiative • A strategic approach to creating future-ready schools • Goals of – Engagement – Equity – Economic development • Creating a new learning ecology in our schools • To prepare future-ready students, we must provide future-ready environments, tools, learning processes and content

In the world of our students • All information is instantly available • Distance and time do not matter • Communication via multiple means is free, easy, and instant • Multimedia interactive entertainment is omnipresent • Powerful tools for creative work are taken for granted • Machines have “intelligence” • Change is constant and rapid • Options are abundant • Diversity is assumed • Everything is interactive and collaborative • They have control and autonomy

Where are we? • Friday Institute for Educational Innovation • Located on NC State University’s Centennial Campus • Opened in November, 2007 • Our Building of Ideas has spaces and state-of-the art technology for: – conducting research – teaching both face-to-face and online – developing multi-media educational resources – working collaboratively – convening meetings related to our mission
