Kids company radio advert analysis
1. Kids Company radio advert analysis
The advert has a few styles I noticed one was that it’s very serious because it’s based on
something quite disturbing talking how the little boy gets abused also its very persuasive
using a little boy voice talking how she spends his Christmas being used and abused so it
talks straight to the viewer to donate and help the poor boy. The overall message is to
persuade the listener to donate a little bit of money to help poor children, who get abused,
by using the voices of a sad boy talking about how she gets treated on Christmas speaks out
to the listener, they use her voice to show that he’s upset which then the viewer feels for
him thus donating. After that they use a very plain woman’s voice to clearly speak about
how to donate etc…
The tone off language used was a very serious tone from the little boys because he’s sad
and need people to donate, I think that the woman who explains all the details to donate
has quite aggressive tone of voice, I think they use this tone of voice to show that she is sad
for the little girl and angry at what some people do to their children during Christmas. So it
suits the style of advert and adjusts to the audience. There wasn’t really any slogans used
besides the boy repeating himself saying “and then, and then” before each sentence
showing that he has so many problems during Christmas and it speaks to the viewer. The
advert said the company’s name ‘Kids Company’ twice just explaining the company’s name
so the audience will know who they’re donating to.
There contact details where used during the advert, the woman’s voice explained that for
more details visit Kids co.co.uk just telling the audience where to look for more information
and to donate. From listening to the ad I couldn’t hear anything which could have been
taken as an offence so what the creators of the advert do is they confirmation from a
professional company (RACC) for example would confirm if the ad has no signs of offence
used. No music or sound effects were used throughout the whole advert only talking and
explaining. The main overall purpose for the advert is to speak and persuade the audience
to donate a little bit of their cash to help kids around the UK who are mistreated and left
alone on Christmas, that’s why they use a little boy’s voice which is very drab and weak to
try and convince the listener.
What I like personally about this advert is that when listening to the poor boys voice
explaining all the bad things that happen to him during the holidays does get emotional and
convinces me to donate to the adverts company. Also the advert doesn’t drag on and go
into depth which I like it just tells you everything you need to know to donate and a very
persuasive story about how kids get treated. What I didn’t like was that it was a little bland
and I think a use of sad music in the background would have been more convincing and
emotional to the audience, other than that the advert is very much suited to what the
company are trying to raise money for.
