2. Deontological Ethical Analysis of Direct-to-Consumer...
Deontological Ethical Analysis of Direct to Consumer Pharmaceutical Marketing
In Deontological ethics, morality of an action is based upon the particular action s
adherence to moral laws independent of their consequences (DeGeorge 62). Direct to
consumer marketing of pharmaceuticals has had heated debate with logical
arguments from those for, and for those against allowing such practices to exist. I do
not believe the marketing of the prescription medication to be solely unethical but
more of as a shade of grey in between ethical and unethical moral standards dependent
upon the actions of the individual pharmaceutical companies. Advertising to the
general public can be ethical if the medication truly benefits those in society ... Show

This false sense of security held by the public at large leads the masses to believe in
the complete truthfulness of drug advertisements which could and will lead many
consumers to not do their research on a medication before seeking it out to get it
prescribed.
The other area of moral concern for many is in regards to the safety of the general
public. The question being; is it safe for public health to allow pharmaceuticals to
advertise and push new drugs directly to the public? The answer to this isn t clear,
in May of 2011 the Congressional Budget Office released its study; Potential Effects
of a Ban on Direct To Consumer Advertising of New Prescription Drugs. The study
was inconclusive, it stated that a moratorium on direct to consumer advertising could
benefit public health by providing more time for possible safety problems with some
drugs to be uncovered, but could also harm public health by delaying the widespread
adoption of useful new drugs (Procon.org).
From an ethical standpoint this depends upon the company advertising the product. If
they create a medicine to help relieve a certain ailment, as long as they disclose the
facts, dangers, and risks of the drug, I believe that they are doing a public service
because the advance in modern medicine can help society as a whole, but if a
company produces a

Development of Optical Imaging Tools for Synapse Typing
Restructure of synapse types and alternations of dynamics of neurotransmitters and
neuromodulators have been implicated in a number of human neurological and
psychiatric diseases, including autism, Alzheimer s disease, Parkinson s disease,
schizophrenia, and addiction1,2. However, little is known about how molecular
compositions define different types and functions of synapses and how different
synapses organize in micro and macroscale to give rise to complex brain functions
and disorders, due to lack of appropriate tools to characterize synaptic biomolecules in
situ in large scale. Here, I propose a novel research program to develop transformative
tools for large scale mapping of synaptic biomolecules, functional imaging of
neurotransmission and neuronal signaling. Specifically, it will evolve along three
main themes: 1. Expansion pathology for highly multiplexed, in situ and nanoscale
biomolecular imaging. 2. Optogenetic neurotransmitter indicator; 3. in situ imaging
tools for endogenous protein protein interaction; This program will expand on the
themes of my previous work on engineering optogenetic indicators for neuronal
activities, such as calcium ions3,4 and voltage5,6 indicators, as well as my current
work on devising a clinically optimized form of expansion microscopy7,8, which
contribute new capabilities to the broader communities of neuroscience, cell biology,
pathology and medicine.

5. Why I Play Basketball
Why I Play Basketball
Basketball. A great game that was originated in Springfield, Massachusetts in
1891. Basketball was created by a canadian gym coach who used peach baskets
when it was raining and snowing outside. Now the sport is played all over the
world. One of the most popular sports in the world, and I hated it. I hated this God
given sport, until 4 years ago. When something great happened to me on April 17
2010 I turned my perspective on basketball. I really hated basketball from the
beginning but then I changed throughout the way.
When I was really young around 4 10 I really loved soccer because it required
endurance, speed, and it was really fun to play. And from that time I really didn t
like basketball. I thought that this sport was the epitome to the league of sports. I
thought that tennis was way better at the time. And I wasn t a big fan of tennis.
But I really didn t like the sport at all. I was athletically gifted at the sport, like
most other sports. I had the fundamentals from my father, and he tried to convince
me to play, but I still refused to associate myself with basketball. I even disliked to
watch basketball I would refuse to play with my siblings. And all that I encouraged
other people to play was soccer. The reason that I loved soccer was because my first
gift was a soccer ball. Since that time I was infatuated with soccer. I played it in my
backyard and in the park. I never stopped playing for anything even when it was dark

Although Asian Americans did not face as much racism as the African Americans
in the late 1960s, they still felt that they needed to break out of the restraints placed
on them by the white community, as the Black Power Movement pushed had for in
the late 1960s. African Americans of the Black Power Movement felt that their
lives were being determined and manipulated by the whites who had control over
American society. In the first declaration of The Black Panther Platform, they
explain, We want freedom. We want power to determine the destiny of our Black
Community. We believe that black people will not be free until we are able to
determine our destiny. (Bloom and Breines, 146). The members of this movement
believed that whites always had power over them because African Americans were
never allowed the opportunities to show their full potential without the interference
of the white community. In an SNCC essay, entitled The Basis of Black Power,
Stokely Carmichael proclaims that, Negroes in this country have never been allowed
to organize themselves because of white interference. As a result of this, the
stereotype has been reinforced that blacks cannot organize themselves. (Bloom and
Breines, 120). The Black Power Movement believed that the only way to break free
of these ties and these stereotypes was to isolate themselves from the whites,
including the whites involved in

Organisational culture is a source of competitive advantage and according to
education portal (2015), organisational culture is defined as a shared system of
assumptions, values and beliefs, which governs how people behave in organisations .
These shared values will influence how employees of the organisation will perform,
act and dress. Furthermore, Every organisation develops and maintains a unique
cultureand this will create guidelines for how members of the organisation will
behave. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) (2010) refers to
organisational culture as an organisation s personality . The IAEA also states that
culture is not only important for keeping organisational goals, but it appeals to
attracting and keeping desirable employees which in turn improves the company s
public image and the company s cooperate relationships.
In order to further support my answer, this essay will explain and discuss the models
and theories of organisational culture. This essay will also link these models and
theories to two UK based companies to authenticate the models and theories.
Bosch (2015) is an example of a UK based company that knows the importance of
organisational culture. The company claims their corporate culture makes [them]
unique and is reason for why their associates are proud to work for Bosch. The
company also claims that the culture forms a special bond that guides actions and

Adolf Hitler and his role in the Third Reich
The topic that I chose was Identify Adolf Hitler and his role in the Third Reich.
Adolf Hitler was an Austrian born German politician that was also the leader of the
Nazi Party. He was a decorated veteran of World War 1. Hitler joined the German
Worker s Party in 1919. Hitler had a side of him that was good and during his
imprisonment in the mid 1920 s he wrote his memoir, Mein Kampf which means (my
struggle). Hitler had gained his popularity from the support on attacking the Treaty of
Versailles and promoting the Pan Germanium for the Nazi Propaganda.
The Third Reich was Hitler s Government. After Hitler was appointed Chancellor of
Germany he had begun to eliminate all political oppositions and their powers.
Hitler s role is the Third Reich was leader. He is the one who brought the
government to Germany and made it possible. Adolf s rise in power wasn t of the
quick side. He ran for control three times and out of those three two times he lost to
his opponent who was president at that time Paul von Hindenburg. Hitler took office

people taking these supplements and it affected their bodies. But the main point of
this text is that there are no shortcuts to change your body and the only thing that
works is a persistent diet.
The third text, How food can improve your mental health shows the possible
connection between your diet and your mental health. Emma who is 34 years old was
suffering from anxiety, depression and mental health, but after meeting up with a
doctor they changed her diet from fast foods and general poor eating habits to more
fresh foods and less sugar. After this change she noticed an improvement in her
mental health.
Secondly, about healthy and unhealthy eating, from having read/listened to the texts.
You can e.g. write about the dos and don ts about diets that we can discern from these
texts.
If you would create the perfect diet based on the facts of these texts, it would
probably be a diet based on fresh foods. I ll break it up into two different parts, the
things you should do and the things you should avoid.

There are certain customs based on the specific country a person should follow when
entering a country that is not familiar with them. This means that if a person is about
to operate or visit a country, they should study their specific customs so there isn t
any miscommunication. For example, when greeting someone, man to man, a
handshake with the right hand is a common form and will possibly linger a bit
during the conversation. To women to women, a verbal greeting or even a handshake
is also common. Between a man and woman, verbal greetingsare also welcome, along
with a handshake in a more formal or business situation. In Senegal, greetings are
very important and questions about your health, family, and different pleasantries.

12. The Breakdown of Ithaka
In the lands of Pylos and Sparta, the kingdoms are prospering and in the favor of
the gods. However, in Ithaka, the kingdom is falling to pieces. Why are the
kingdoms so different in their success? Homer puts these three kingdoms side by
side in The Odyssey, making it easy to find similarities and differences between the
three. Pylos and Sparta, ruled by Nestor and Menelaos, could not be more
successful. Ithaka, currently has no king in its throne and chaos is resulting from the
battle for the coveted seat. Compared to the kingdoms of Nestor and Menelaos,
Ithaka is breaking down from the loss of order and their leader, Odysseus.
Sparta and Pylos are successful, thriving kingdoms, so what makes Ithaka break
down? Menelaos has a mansion that is the way the court of Zeus must be (4.72).
He has no end of riches, and Sparta is prospering right along with him. Menelaos
rules with compassion and this makes him a great ruler. In Pylos, Nestor sacrifices
an impressive heifer for Athena; his goldsmith gloved each horn in a pure foil
beaten out of the gold that Nestor gave him (3.437 438). This costly sacrifice is no
expense, because Pylos is a wealthy country. Also, what is added to the success of
Pylos, is the great rule of Nestor. He is a wise and generous soul, who strides to
keep his kingdom under the favor of the gods. Athena truly favors Nestor in which
she wishes honor to Nestor and his sons (3.58). There is no mortal half so wise
(1.64) as Odysseus, the ruler of
13. Rhetorical Devices In Mark Antony
Mark Antony s use of emotional rhetoric to sway the plebeians against the
conspirators proves far more powerful than the logical rhetoric of stoic philosophy
used by Brutus. When Mark Antony is given time to speak, he is faced by a hostile
audience that believes whole heartedly in the words of Brutus. Mark Antonystarts by
saying he has come to bury his friend Caesar, not to praise him. He is trying to
assure the Romans that he is on their side, and begins to indicate that he will ignore
all of the great deeds Caesar preformed in his lifetime. Already he is appealing to
the emotions of the Romans, as most people could relate to the pain of burying a
friend. He then progressively starts to break down Brutus argument through
repetition. Mark Antony references Caesar s ambition and Brutus honor in a
cadence that soon calls both terms into question. He repeats the phrase, for Brutus
is an honorable man (act 3, scene 2, line 82) or a slight variation of it four times in
his speech, and each time the ironic tone of his words become clearer. By this
technique, Antony asserts that Brutus is not an honorable man and hence implying
that Brutus was either misguided or lying, while leading the citizens to conclude
his assertion seemingly on their own. In reference to Caesar s ambition, he says,
The noble Brutus hath told you Caesar was ambitious. If it were so, it was a
grievous fault (act 3, scene 2, lines 78 79). He is shedding his doubt that Caesar was
in fact an ambitious man
14. Managing And Securing Unstructured Data
With a massive growth in Internet, there has been an enormous increase in the
amount of information generated and shared in social networking sites and across
various industries. This has led to storing and access issues with regards to
unstructured data.
Firstly understanding what unstructured data is of primary importance before trying
to handle it. In simple terms unstructured data can be understood as data that can t be
stored in the form of rows and columns. It can be anything including email files, text
documents, presentations, image and video files.
Studies carried out by IDC and EMC forecasts that data will grow to 40 zettabyes (1
ZB = 1 billion TB). As of now more than 80% of all stored data in organizations is
unstructured and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also backup and restore will take a lesser time
Major disadvantage is that storing unstructured data will significantly increase the
size of databases which will lead to more time for backup and restore of these
databases and can cause performance issues with I/O subsystems
The big disadvantage of this approach is that we have to create and maintain manual
links between database and external file system files which can potentially go out of
sync. Also since data is stored outside the system the backups are not consistent and
unstructured data is not a part of the transaction.
Hybrid Approach: To overcome the disadvantages of the methods discussed above,
another method was the Hybrid Approach, which proposes Database engine to
support a new data type filestream . Filestram help consolidates the profit of getting
to BLOBs specifically from the NTFS document framework with the referential
integrity and simple entry offered by the conventional social database engine. In SQL
Server, BLOBs can be standard varbinary (max) information that stores the
information in tables, or filestream varbinary (max) protests that store the information
in the document framework. The major advantage of this approach is BLOB s are
under database transactional consistency. By carrying out research with different
datasets, it was clearly observed that hybrid and filestream data type approach is faster
15. MRI Vs Ultrasound
An ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging, more commonly known as an MRI,
are two common ways doctors obtain pictures of what is happening in one s body. An
ultrasound uses soundwaves to penetrate human flesh. As these waves encounter
things of varying density in the body, the waves are reflected back differently. Due to
these waves reflections, the ultrasoundmachine can formulate an image in real time,
and physicians can interpret these pictures to give diagnoses (No Author, 2008). On
the contrary, an MRI uses a powerful magnet to align atoms in the body. These atoms
create their own rotating magentic field which a scanner can identify and create a
picture from (Lewis, 2014). Although an MRI gets higher quality images and scans
through bone and air, an ultrasound is ultimately better and more commonly used
because it is cheaper and more accessible.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the ultrasound s use of sound waves to create its images, it cannot scan
through air or bone because the waves cannot be reflected back; therefore, no
image can be created when scanning air or bone. On the other hand, since an MRI
uses a magnet to pull hydrogen atoms from water to create a new magnetic field, it
can take high quality pictures of air and bone. For example, an MRI can take a
fantastic picture of the lungs, while an ultrasound cannot scan the lungs because they
are huge air pockets with nothing to bounce sound waves back to the ultrasound
machine. MRIs are also better for taking pictures of parts of the body obscured by
the bowel (Rubin, 2016). Furthermore, while the MRI procedure takes longer due to
the magnet s rearranging magnetic fields, the picture is much better than an
ultrasound s live feed. For these reasons, an MRI has benefits over an ultrasound as
seen in the clearer images and the scanning through bone and

children were using the same bowl of water to wash their hands and in Maureen s
Childcare Centre time out had been used (see appendix 1). This time out was not
deemed to be a negative behaviour management approach by the inspector, but the
uncertainty amongst staff on whether it was a strategy they used was highlighted as
needing to be addressed. In one setting they were instructed to add more clearly

woman get married and live happily ever after. Over time, we have seen men and
women of different colors and get married, as well as people of the same gender.
Marriagehas changed and has become such a huge topic of conversation and debate.
Homosexual marriages have now become legal in all the U.S. I do not support gay
marriages because homosexual couples should not have the right to get married,
homosexual couples should not adopt without being judged, and also should not have

Whenever a gay couple adopts a child, the couple should think about the child s
stability. Adopting a child while being homosexual can have many effects on the
child and how the child view things. A child that grows up in a gay house hold may
grow up and think that it is okay to date someone of the same gender. Homosexual
couples cannot produce children, so therefore they must adopt if they want
children. A homosexual couple who adopts children does not take the children in
consideration. In the article, In the Best Interests of the (Silenced) Child, the
author says, to include children s voices would be to acknowledge children s
agency and individuality and in doing so would undermine the figure of the
passive, innocent and powerless child which sustains the best interests rhetoric.
The author is basically saying that a child that is for adoption does not have a
voice and no one takes in consideration of the child s feelings. A gay couple that
adopts does this for their satisfaction instead of the child. Many heterosexual couples
would argue that a child needs a male figure in their life as well as a female

another strategy: globalization, aimed at integrating operations at an higher level.
GM s ultimate goal from the 1990s was to produce a World Car, as announced
through their Master Plan in 1996 (Bordenave and Lung, 2002). The idea was to
cut costs and achieve greater economies of scale by halving the number of car
platforms from 14 to 7, and sharing these platforms as well as parts among the
various brands within the General Motors family. In reality, however, this
programme failed.due to regional differences, such as Europe and Asia preferring
smaller, diesel powered cars as opposed to the large, petrol engined models of North
America. GM was thus forced to continue supplying different models to their various
markets around the world. | | |1992 : Senior management changes (J. Smith). | |1992:

21. The Impact Of Syncretism On Religion And Culture
Syncretism is the unity of different religions, cultures, or ideas. The spread of Islam
to other regions initiated syncretism of Islam with other religions and cultures. Most
notably, in Turkey and in Indonesia. Languages evolved, religious beliefs were
altered, and art, architecture, and literature closely related to those from the Islamic
world.
In modern day Turkey, syncretism has had a vast impact on traditions, culture, and
language. Almost all of the Arabic speaking lands and civilizations were included in
the Ottoman Empire, also including Anatolia and southeastern Europe. Turks in the
Ottoman Empire accepted the Sunni Muslim traditions and beliefs, including some of
the language spoken by the Muslim people who migrated to the Ottoman Empire, in
fact, Ottoman Turkish was a mixture of Turkish, Persian, and Arabic. In Turkey today,
about 90% of the population is Sunni Muslim, showing how syncretism that occurred
many centuries ago still has an impact today. The capital city of Turkey, established in

23. Economic Status Of The Middle Class
After the Financial Crisis of 2008 the economic status of the country began taking a
toll on the middle class. As the years have progressed, the increase in inequality
without any aid to these hard working middle class families has grown to be a
problem for Americans. Currently, the attitude of the American middle classis that
they are being ignored by the United Statesgovernment. This comes from many
factors that have diminished the value and definition of a middle class American,
in addition to forcing these Americans to struggle to make ends meet. The sense of
pride of being a working middle class American has lost its appeal and has changed
the predisposition of what it means to live above the means. Middle class families
are struggling to provide necessities for their children. They are constantly worrying
about how they will stretch their incomes and provide a comfortable lifestyle for
their families. In order to provide immediate relief to the middle class action must be
taken directly by the United States government. This concern for direct impact is
shown with the initiatives by Democratic partyleaders to aid the middle class. The
Democrats have been strong proponents of pushing the middle class back up to its
previous standard. They have actively defended the middle class, showing their
support for immediate reform that would benefit specifically middle class workers.
The middle class has continued to shrink and without action taken immediately this

Gynecomastia is the medical term for female like breasts on males. The word is
derived from the Greek language and actually translates to womanly breasts. Most
guys don t talk about it but many more of them suffer from it than one might

population. To get rid of these soft appendages, guys can opt for surgical
intervention. Here are some things to think about. What causes it? There are various
ways gynecomastia can occur, including being overweight, taking drugs (recreational
or prescription), genetic predisposition or bad luck. Some evidence points to use of
steroids in body builders, or marijuana in pot smokers. Many adolescent boys exhibit
these surprising mounds on their chest as they re experiencing the hormonal changes

The first thing a sufferer of gynecomastia should do is see his doctor. The physician
will rule out tumors in the chest and prescription medicine side effects, and may
put him on a diet to get rid of some weight. If none of these fixes alleviates the
problem, his next step may be to see a cosmetic surgeon. Other than that, his only
options would be to wear a flattening garment over his man boobs for life or live
with slight cleavage. If a man really does not like his appearance, cosmetic surgery
can be an option. Surgical intervention: In order to return the patient s chest to a
more manly appearance, the plastic surgeon may perform a combination of
liposuction and breast reduction. These would be outpatient procedures performed
in a hospital or clinic setting. Liposuction: Lipo is a technique which removes fatty
deposits that haven t responded to dieting or exercise. The MD will make tiny

openings. A cannula is a slender wand that is hooked up to a lipo machine in order

25. The Value Of The Vat Returns
The VAT returns are on the rise as consumers increase spending on cars, furniture
and white goods. The €341 million over performance in VAT revenues in the first
11 months of the year have to be analyzed alongside the €312 million corporate tax
over performance in November alone. An €800 million surge in October shows just
how corporate taxhas taken off this year. With unemployment lower than anticipated,
at 8.9% in November, income taxreceipts were still below target in this month. The
buildup of €16.56 billion in income tax since the start of the year is €801
million stronger than in 2014 and €51 million ahead of target. This shows the
exchequer is taking the benefit of the return to drudgery. However, the failure to
reach the November target even as employment growth accelerates raises questions
as to whether job growth is coming from low paid work outside the income tax net.
Health spending to end November was €465 million ahead of target. Problems in
the health sector are not going to go away before the election, but this data puts the
public finances in very positive posture ahead of the campaign (Beesley, Arthur).

Very few songs retain the inimitable aptitude to tell a story, let alone create a
platform in which the central idea of that story is juxtaposed between the lofty
heights and the crushing depths of the presence and absence of that idea. Unlike
most of its contemporaries, Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood, tells its own
story that of a fleeting romance, and provides a stage to contrast the facets of love
that are both exalted and despised. The Neigbourhood s Sweater Weather, utilizes a

The lyrics of the main body of the song are rapid and roll off the tongue as lead
singer Jesse Rutherford swiftly rattles off the lines, creating an enveloping sense
of the lust that is present at the beginning of a relationship. However, as the song
progresses, Rutherford s poignant vocal talents seep through as the song becomes
less of a praise of love and more of a lamentation of it, and the deep scars it leaves
behind as it comes to a close. The beginning of the song is riddled with
juxtapositions like, Head in the clouds but my gravity s centered which provide a
unique insight into two component of love, the pure ecstasy of lust coupled with
the grounding force of complacency and reality that cements the relationship. While
the lyrics often exalt the conquest of love, as it evolves the song provides a
evocative lamentation of that lost in the pursuit of love. The lyrics become darker
and more cacophonous, shifting from the upbeat, The goose bumps start to raise to,
it too cold, it s too cold. The protracted feeling that creeps into Rutherford s voice
conveys a demeaning view of that lost, and leaves a lasting impression of
hopelessness that persists long after the song finishes. While simple syntactically, the
closing lines of the

Set in Berkeley California, Dan Millman a college student struggles to find the part
of himself that has always been missing. One night while out walking from his
dorm, Dan comes across a gas station and a strange man that is soon to turn his life
upside down. This man, known as Socrates, shows Dan a side of existence that only
few people had ever seen. To become a warrior like Socrates and have the mind to not

This way of separating these two simple words allows one to think about what the
book is saying, and to figure out if there is truth to what the book says. The
difference between the mind and brain is not something most think about in their
regular lives. But as I read each word I found truth to what Socrates was saying.
You read this book and try to realize the hidden messages being put across. The
message between the mind and brain is to not let your brain be attacked by
random useless thoughts. In other words, to not let your, `mind , get in the way of
your brain. People think millions of useless thoughts each day. Without these
thoughts a persons brain would be clear and their emotions would be easier to
control. Dan tries to explain to Socrates that he will control his mind and change
himself in the process. The main character is a young man who has been set to see
the world the way most have. He is ignorant when it comes to seeing the other side
of the picture. Readers can relate to him because they share a lot of the same
qualities and ignorance. After reading this book I looked at class notes which might

talks about language and how it limits our mind and keeps us from looking outside

31. Categorical Imperative Kant
The ethical philosophy of Immanuel Kant regards moral actions as right or wrong
regardless of context or circumstance. This approach to ethics is known as
deontological as it considers the actions themselves as opposed to the consequences;
what one should do in practice should be thought of as substantive concepts. Along
with our fundamental ability to recognise this, Kant strongly believed that it is our
duty as individuals to utilize our ability to wield reason and rationality as morally
autonomous beings. These obligations manifest to Kant in two distinctive forms:
those that are Hypothetical Imperatives and those that are Categorical Imperatives.
The Hypothetical Imperative is conditionally applied, as it demands execution of an

It was Wolff s belief that moralityconsisted of perfecting ourselves, and those
around us. Wolff perceived perfecting ourselves as an improvement on us mentally
and physically and perfecting others by helping and not causing harm to them. The
fundamental rule by which Wolff believed our actions should be directed is: Do
what makes you and your condition, or that of others, more perfect; omit what
makes it less perfect. [5] Human reason, he argues, informs us of this and offers
guidance with its practical application. Interestingly, Kant argues that no one, not
even God, can be the author of the laws of morality, since they have no origin in
will, but instead a practical necessity [6]). This formulation of morality is an
objective rule that exists secularly; they would be obligatory even without the
existence of God. Wolff also states: Because this rule is a law because it obligates,
and the obligation comes from nature, the law of nature is validated by nature itself
and would hold even if man had no superior who could obligate him to it. In fact it
would hold even if there were no God. [Reasonable Thoughts on Human Action [7]] It
seems that there is logic to both Wolff and Kant, which is difficult to fault. Although
they are not entirely the same with regards to their moral philosophy, Kant adopts
various components of the morality proposed by Wolff. Like Wolff, Kant believes
that we do indeed harbour the ability to individually employ reason and rationality as
autonomous beings, which should be utilized when confronted with a moral
dilemma. There should be an obligation to our own development and knowledge as
human beings in whom we necessitate our abilities, which include the ability to
reason and act rationally, using a single principle. However, Kant rejects the specific
moral principle that Wolff holds,

Helping out at home raises self esteem when parents insist that kids do their
chores, they are letting them know they are not just loved, they are needed claims
Wendy Mogel about chores. Many parents deal with conflicts where they think that
their kids don t work hard enough and don t care much about their grades or not
taking things seriously. Regrettably, they don t realize that it s because they aren t
giving chores to their children. These chores may seem very small but help kids
learn how to deal with problems in the future with the real life experiences they
faced in the past while doing chores. Chores can benefit kids in many different
ways with perseverance, taking responsibilities (5 Reasons Why Kids Should Do
Chores), and they ll get better at teamwork (The Benefits of Chores). However, it is
also important to keep in mind what a childis capable at a certain age.
It s very remarkable to not be a quitter. Having perseverance helps you to find
success in things. But it s very hard to get into the habit of it. Therefore, many
people struggle with not having perseverance. Even parents get very worried about
their children not working hard or their kids quit more often. The solution to this
problem is assigning chores (5 Reasons Kids should do chores). Assigning chores

33. Decentralization Of Corruption In The United States
Definition
The first and foremost problem in dealing with corruption is trying to define the
term. There is plenty of literature out that describes a general definition: Tilman
(1970) first defined corruption as the result of the adoption of a market pricing
mechanism for government goods and services rather than a mandatory pricing
model of allocation Shah (2007) broadly describes corruption as the exercise of
official powers against public interest or the abuse of public office for private
gains. Other authors delve deeper in their description of corruption as the illegal
privatization of state property and the selling of state power by public officials.
This often takes the form of creating private gain by said public officials through
classic rent seeking activities, which will be described in the next section (Vasavakul
2008; Gainsborough 2009; Bai 2013; Morris 1991; Lancaster 2001; Rock 2004; Rose
Ackerman 2000; Treisman 2000).
Other scholars have attempted to take different approaches to defining corruption in
terms of a centralized versus decentralized nature. Shleifer and Vishny (1993)
conclude that government bureaucracies and agencies act as monopolists selling
complementary government produced goods that are legally required for private
sector activity. Waller, Verdier and Gardner (2002) go further by explaining that
decentralized corruption is a system in which higher level officials collect a fixed
amount of bribe income from each bureaucrat who collects a

Water Pollution isn t going to be stopped by regulations, scientists are going to have

surface water pollution, scientists have come up with ways to reduce it. Recent
research from the University of Sinaloa has found a plant that is used to get rid of
some of the water pollution. Typha domingensis is reducing pollutionfrom bacteria
from mammals by ninety eight percent ( Common Weed ). This weed is quite tall
and can be found in either shallow or deep water. In a study, the plant found nearly
several types of bacteria that was causing pollution in the water ( Common Weed ).
This plant is just a start to stop water pollution or at least contain it. Scientists have
come up with new systems that can remove water pollutants from fields. Laura
Christianson is an expert in what kind of woodchips would react with the field
pollutants ( New System ). The woodchips help get rid of the nitrate in fields. They
woodchips can consume the nitrate which is then removed from the water. To get
rid of the phosphorus, they created a system called a p filter ( New System ). There
are two different types of filters, acid mine drainagetreatment residual and steel slag
( New System). The acid mine drainage also called MDR for short, removed
roughly eighty to ninety percent of phosphorus ( New System ). The MDR filter is
by far more productive in removing phosphorus compared to the steel slag. The steel

One s perception on the problems in the society changes as new perspective are
introduced, and the consequence of an altered perspective results in different
outcomes both positive and negative. The film, The Matrix produced by the
Wachowski Brothers in 1999 and the poem Suicide in The Trench by Siegfried

power of authority to manipulate to challenge each individual s perception on what

perspective from glorifying war to realising its full horror. In the first stanza, a

The harsh condition and the mental state of these young soldiers was represented

loneliness or an end, and trench represent somewhere filthy and confined. Sassoon
used winter trench to symbolise the harsh reality of the war, the depression of the
young soldiers and their belief that they were confined and that there were nowhere

Fairytale, Folklore, Myths and Fantasy: A Case Study based on JK Rowling s Harry
Potter series
Abstract
Fantasy is a genre of literature which gives flexibility and scope to the writers to
explore their thoughts. Fantasy depends upon the imagination and creativity of the
writer. We can define fantasyas a genre of literature that is far removed from reality,
set in a world beyond our thinking such as house on moon or any other planet, a
place in the middle of ocean etc. The characters of fantasy are often uncanny means
these are non human creatures such as elfs, werewolves, giants, trolls, dragons. Many
fantasy stories include the elements of folklore and based upon the ancient or cultural

We can say that myth plays an important role in constructing the plot of the fantasy
work. Myth means ideas, thoughts, and images that have the relationship with
folklores, fairy tales, spiritual stories, stories of Gods and legends. Donna
Rosenberg has expressed her thoughts on myths in her introduction to the World
Mythology, Myths symbolize human experience and embody the spiritual values of
a culture....Some explain origins, natural phenomenon, and death; others describe
the nature and function of divinities; while still others provide models of virtuous
behaviour by relating the adventures of the heroes or the misfortunes of arrogant
humans.(xv) Myths and folklores have a broad range of functions in fantasy
literature. In his article Folklore and Fantastic Literature, C.W. Sullivan III
mentions the functions of myth that is particularly important to second world, or
high fantasy. J.R.R. Tolkien has made a great use of fantasy in his On Fairy
Stories. It is not easy for one to think fantasy literature without taking into
consideration the fairytale. Max Luthi states that The fairytale is a universe in
miniature. (25) Fantasy is a very creative art which requires skills and perfection
otherwise it would convey adverse effect. Tolkien thinks that fantasy is not a lower
but a higher form of art, indeed nearly the most pure form, and so (when achieved)
the most potent. (On Fairy Stories 45) When creating a fantasy, writer uses it as an
art and takes the fantasy very seriously. Fantasy must not to be made fun of, in doing

Listening to classical music stimulates the creative pathways in the human brain.
Classical music has been found to reduce tension and enhance brain power and
specific types of intelligence such as verbal ability and spatial temporal reasoning.
Because of this, Classical music has been found to be extremely beneficial for
pregnant women. Studies have shown that babies listening to classical music in
the womb could benefit the baby by raising their intelligence and mental
development. Not only is classical music a calming method for both mother and
child, the music can help to prepare an unborn infant s ears and brain for the
outside world. Mothers can play the classical music for their baby by placing
earphones around her belly. This theory of letting babies listen to the classical
music by classical music genius Mozart in the womb became known as the The

about The Mozart Theory, which came to be called the Mozart Effect: an observed

Mozart s music. The Mozart effect has been the subject of much research in recent
years, after it was found that listening to Mozart s music may increase specific types
of intelligence. The approach has been popularized in a book by Don Campbell, and
is based on an experiment suggesting that listening to Mozart temporarily

Irritable...
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) occurs when muscles in your large intestine contract
faster or slower than normal. This causes pain, cramping, gassiness, sudden bouts of
diarrhea, and constipation.
Symptoms of IBS may include:
Cramping pain in your lower abdomen
Bloating and gas
Mucus in your stool
Immediate need to move your bowels when you wake up or during or after meals
Relief of pain after bowel movements
Diarrhea or constipation, or bouts of both
Feeling of incomplete emptying after bowel movements
Normally, food moves through the digestive system by muscle contractions in the
intestines. In people with IBS, the contractions are no not coordinated. The
contractions may last for too long or not long enough. The contractions affect bowel
movements and result in uncomfortable and painful symptoms. This also affects the
ability of the colon to be able to absorb water and other nutrients from the food being
digested.
Researchers are not certain of the causes of IBS. However some scientists believe
that people with IBS tend to be oversensitive to the digestive nerve signals. This
means mild indigestion that is hardly noticeable in most people becomes distressing
abdominal pain in those with IBS.
Other scientists believe that psychological factors play an important role in IBS.
Intense emotional states such as stress and anxiety tend to trigger chemical changes
that interfere with the digestive system.
It has also been discovered that many people with IBS

It is custom for people reach out and touch the mezuzah and then kiss their fingers.
In Orthodox synagogues the males and females sit separate from one another, the
females usually sit in the upstairs corridor. Reform and many Conservative houses
of worship generally have mixed seating. For a service to take place there must be
at a minimum of ten Jewish males. Services are conducted entirely in Hebrew and

This cap is a reminder that God is above all. A dedicated minority of Jewsprays in

houses of worship though some synagogue buildings double as community,
educational and cultural centers. An important part of certain prayer services is a

cover the entire Torah in a year every

ow effective is the medication for Alzheimer s disease?
In 1906, Alois Alzheimer was a German doctor who connects his patient s symptoms
to microscopic changes in the brain. Dr. Alzheimer describes his patients who
suffered from profound memory loss, paranoia, and other worsening psychological
changes. He studied the patient brain through autopsy and saw a remarkable change
in the patient s brain size. These dramatic changes in her brain at autopsy is due to
abnormal accumulation around the perimeter of the cells. He first described this
condition as a peculiar disease . The name Alzheimer Disease was given by Emil
Kraepelin, another a psychiatrist who worked collaboratively with Dr. Alzheimer in
1910 (Alzheimer s Association, 2016).

The most recent treatment research focuses on the accurate clinical diagnosis, and
early use of cholinesterase inhibitor and NMDA receptor targeted receptor therapy

Alzheimer. The researcher combined the non competitive NMDA receptor antagonist
called Memantine with any of the receptors of ChEi s. The results show strong a
strong evidence to support the efficacy of combination therapy in AD. The CT is
safe and well tolerated. This may represent the gold standard treatment for moderate
to severe AD
41. Saint Thomas AquinasPhilosophy Over God And God
Saint Thomas Aquinas was a priest and a theologian. He was also known for his ideas
and thoughts about philosophy. He investigated the philosophy over God and human
beings. Aquinas connected scriptures and scriptural theology to his philosophical
findings. Thomas treats most of the major sub disciplines of philosophy, including
logic, philosophy of nature, metaphysics, epistemology, philosophical psychology,
philosophy of mind, philosophical theology, the philosophy of language, ethics and.
Political philosophy (iep). He was the most influential contribute to theology and
philosophy, as well as placing in his views to connect God in with those two topics.
One thing that St. Thomas Aquinasestablished truth on, was whether an object can
exist, cease to exist, and re exist. He believed in gappy existence and drew limits that
explained that not everything can manage gappy existence. St. Thomas stated that
anything that is destroyed, God could make another thing to take its place
(Gappy,95). He distinguishes between the form of the whole and form of the part.
Former is the substances essence, while the latter is substantial form. In the case of
human beings, the whole is humanity and the form is their soul. Humanity is that
which is signified by the definition of man. But the definition of man signifies not
form alone but also matter, since matter must be comprised in the definition of
material things. Hence both soul and body are included in the notion of humanity
42. The Triage Assessment Form
The Triage Assessment Form (TAF) is an assessment tool used to measure an
individual s behavior, emotion and thought process during a crisis. This assessment
tool provides helping professionals with an understanding of the type of reactions
individuals are experiencing as well as the intensity of these reactions during the
crisis situation. Unlike many assessment tools that can only be given by licensed
professionals, such as psychologists and psychometrists, the TAF can be
administered by police officers, school counselors, crisis workers, and many other
helping professionals. I decided to use the TAF on myself for this discussion. I found
the TAF to be an adequate assessment for a crisis intervention. The TAF allows
helping professionals

at Durango Jail. You are able to handle the extra workload with minimal effort or
instruction. You are always eager to complete assigned tasks and duties on or
before they should be completed. You have demonstrated the ability to multitask
and to keep up with a large amount of work. You can be relied upon by both your
supervisors and peers to lend an extra hand whenever assistance is needed. You
have a good understanding of your assigned tasks and are well aware of the
responsibilities of the duty post whether you are assigned to a housing unit, court
desk, or medical. 2. Quality of Work: I have reviewed only a few Disciplinary
Action Reports (DAR s) that you have written in the past year. All of them have been
well written with enough details to support the rule violations. I would encourage
you to write more DAR s as they are an effective and important way to document
inmate behavior. Your Online Journal entries are accurate, clear and complete. This is
important as the OJ entries are considered
44. Longitudinal Study Essay
ABSTRACT
This study describes two types of research methods frequently used by researchers to
conduct their study. The two type of research methods undertaken for this study are
the Field Experiments and Longitudinal Study. The aim is to promote a better
understanding of each of the two research methods. This study also compares and
contrast the two methods and study advantages and disadvantages of each one.
INTRODUCTION
A research method refers to a way of conducting and executing a research.
Researchers frequently use a single or a combination of methods in their studies. The
two methods, that is, the Longitudinal study and the Field experiments have different
methodologies. A Longitudinal study involves studying a sample or a subject
repeatedly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most crucial demerit of Field experiment is the ethical issue pertaining it. Since
the subjects are often unaware of the fact that they are observed for an experiment,
the morality of field experiments is always questionable. The second disadvantage is
that in field experiments random variables may adulterate the results since its very
difficult to control external factors in natural settings. Also if the subjects may get
aware of the study being conducted they may change their behaviour thus invalidating
the results. Field experiments may be very hard to replicate since environment and
subjects may differ at different

Time: the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present,

of the same day. The plot mainly consists of Jack Bauer racing against the clock to

Because the scene takes place in Korea, one can conclude that the torturers are of
Korean descent and torturing a man of Asian descent. The scene implicates that
because the torturers and victim are of Asian descent, the U.S. is not responsible
for these actions. The reality however, is that U.S. personnel are sitting in an
adjacent room waiting to receive the information extracted from the NSA. The U.S.
is able to receive the information necessary to protect its country without getting its
hands dirty. Many will argue that the U.S. is still, to an extent, accountable for
torturing a man. The show however cleverly justifies its involvement by the
scarcity of time. Alan Dershowits s ticking time bomb scenario comes alive in the
Fox Television series. The ticking time bomb scenario, poses the question of
whether a government is justified to torture a terrorist in order to extract
information on a time sensitive bomb, that will kill many lives. The creators use
Dershowitz s reasoning to justify the United States involvement. Because time is
scarce and American lives were in danger the U.S. is justified to torturing the
suspect. The creators of the show however are significantly clever because they
depict the scene so that no American is physically involved in the torturing process.
The show does this because the U.S. would never partake in torturing one of its own
or supposedly any human. The show convinces it s viewers
46. The Danger Of A Single Story By Chimamanda Adicie Essay
Single Stories are Problematic
In the world we live in now it has become easy to stereotype and create a single
story about certain people and situations, whether it s intentional or not. In 2009, a
Nigerian novelist named Chimamanda Adichie gave an amazing TED talk called
The Danger of the Single Story . A single story more or less means an incomplete
or inaccurate viewpoint of a person or culture based on a story created from a
single experience. When one hears the same story over and over again, we start
believing only that story. Adichie claims that creating single stories is problematic
and rely on power, a single story I decided to present is how people believe police
officers are abusing their power, and I believe the media is at fault. For one to
truly understand a story we must listen to the root of the story. Her speech made
me realize and view things differently. In the The Danger of a Single Story ,
Chimamanda Adicie tells her own personal experiences of a single story and how
that can become challenging. She talks about when she started reading and writing
at a young age. She read British and American children s books. When she started
writing all her characters were white and blue eyed just like in the books. It wasn t
until writers Chinua Achebe and Camara Laye that she realized people like her,
people of color, could exist in literature. Adichie s says what the discovery of African
writers did for me was this: It saved me from having a single story
47. The Big Bang Theory Of The Universe Essay
Evidence pointed towards that the universe was expanding, but this was not enough
to separate the Big Bang theory from its rivals. A few decades after the redshift
concept was discovered, scientists detected groundbreaking evidence that was
considered the smoking gun. Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson detected the remnants
of radiation created from the Big Bang. This cosmic background radiation was the
thermal radiation left over from the Big Bang. It was collected in the form as
omnidirectional microwaves, which was red shifted because of the expansion of the
universe. While they were not able to detect large quantities of cosmic background
radiation, the principle of overdetermination allowed them to make claims from this
evidence. They deduced that this radiation must of come from a Big Bang event were
protons and neutrons formed hydrogen atom. This was the smoking gun to the
beginning of the universe, it revealed that only an event like the Big Bang could
create this radiation. All the evidence collected suggested that an event like the Big
Bang would be the only explanation to what scientists had collected. The Big Bang
theory became the most probable theory against its rivals, but scientists were tasked
with an even more difficult problem. They needed to be able to explain how the Big
Bang resulted in the unique universe we observe around us. With the Big Bang
theory established, scientists needed to understand how this theory could create our
observable
48. Research Paper On Barclays Bank
Abstract
Security in information technology is a paramount feature which impacts on user
usage and efficiency. Security in organization such as Barclays bank is crucial since
it does protect the details of the clients as well assets of the bank. Services such as
electronic funds transfer, automated teller machines and mobile banking have
brought new security challenges. Security measures are an attempt to reduce risk as
well losses due to muggings, unauthorized users, insider manipulation, fraudulent card
use and many more (Hess, 2010).
Barclays bank started its operations in 1690 in London from a few connected
individuals who were influential in the start of the leading international financial
institutions. The bank had grown tremendously over years since its conversion to
public limited company. It has spread its operations worldwide and offers a range of
services to many financial clients.
When you look at security systems, fraud and interference occur mainly due to
failure in several issues. In banks where they are no controls at all, insecurity
becomes a major problem. Another feature is where there is assumption that controls
are effective yet there are not. Controls may also lack amendment which may prove
to be outdated by emerging technologies and advancements. Some controls may be
applied for compliance purpose, they do not have fundamentals. Financial institutions
have been facing attack from their own employees (Wilding, 2006). These could be
managers or workers

on the base that they work at. When they have vacancies that need filled they are
responsible for matching people and jobs together based on their compatibility.
Their basic understanding of all job functions allows them to put individuals in
jobs where they are happy and successful, while filling a manning requirement.
Their job involves skill in sales techniques and principles in many ways, however,
their pay is not reflective of most salesperson s jobs. They are not paid on
commission or any other incentive program. Their pay is only reflective of their

50. The Stages of Childhood Development
CHAPTER 01: Preschool child
1.1 Preschool child
Preschool age is basically identified as year three to six. In psychology this age
group categorize as early childhood . This early childhood stage is more imperative
in the child development and their learning procedure. That s why the concept of
preschool has come to play.
Preschoolers are always on the move, exploring their world with excitement, curiosity,
and an apparently endless source of energy. The capacity of learning in this stage is
enormous. They learn and develop from each experience, association, and adventure
that they meet. Having the enough space and opportunity to discover objects and
playing environments helps preschool child to develop their imagination and help the

Understanding the early childhood development means to understand the behavioral,
cognitive, psychosocial, language and motor development that children get through
their early childhood stage. Psychologists state about early childhood development in
according to different views. The theories by Sigmund Freud stressed out the
importance of early childhood actions and experiences that almost completely
focused on mental disorders than normal performance.
According to Freud s early childhood developmental theories it is clarify as a
progression of psychosexual stages. At Three Essays on Sexuality (1915), Freud
tells that stages as oral, anal, phallic, latency and genital. Every period connect the
fulfillment of a libidinal desire and be able to afterward play a role in adult
personality and behavior.
Erik Erikson says that each period of child development based on overcome a conflict.
As an example, the main conflict through the early childhood stage engages in
creating a feeling of personal identity. Success or failures within the conflicts at each
period can impact on the whole functioning. For an example, failure to develop a
personal identity results in role confusion through the adolescent stage.
Early childhood development can be discussed under five developmental areas. Those
are identified as;
Motor development
Behavioral
