Mobile Computing Technology
Monitoring Patient Vital Signs Monitoring patients with vital signs using mobile computing
technology had substantial growth for physicians. They are able to access information, resources and
people at the right time and place. What is so essential about mobile computing is the feature of the
healthcare delivery. Faster communication between the patients, wards, clinics, laboratories, operating
theaters and offices are very important. Physicians are able to complete these tasks with their patients
at a faster rate. This means the patient(s) are able to get the treatment they need faster and the
physicians are to take care more individuals than before. The mobile computing technology is an
emerging technology, which consist of wireless sensor networks. The wireless sensor is the smallest
unit of a network and some of the features supports large scale deployment, mobility, reliability and
other applications. According to (Hoon Jae, 2011), the main goals of WSNs are to deploy a number
sensor devices over an unattended area and transmit to certain locations.
Compare and Contrast Monitoring According to (VANCOUVER, 2012), Pairing medical diagnostics
with mobile phones will greatly advance the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of critical diseases in
developing countries, Ansermino said (para.4). The main focus on comparing and contrasting
monitoring mobile phones for vital signs is the quickness in the whole operation. Users can simply

Death 24x A Second Stillness And The Moving Image Analysis
1. The Possessive Binge viewer In her book Death 24x a Second: Stillness and the Moving Image,
Laura Mulvey (2006) illustrates the sense of balance between stillness and movement, life and death
that follows film, placing the film star within a context of uncanny fusion between the human body
and the machine (p. 171). By examining new media viewing practices and their effects on the
spectators relationship to the cinematic body, Mulvey argues that the ability to control the flow of the
film by stopping, replaying it, etc., leads to a possessive spectatorship; a domination of the filmic form
and its stars, regardless of the gender, the motivation for which lies in the viewer s act of fetishizing
the cinematic object (p. 166). In a similar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The television serial as a filmic object is being worshiped by the binge viewer through the binge
watching experience and therefore, the watching experience is being possessed and fetishized by the
spectator. Today s mode of possessive spectatorship as analyzed by Mulvey can be remediated in the
tradition of early cine eroticism. With this in mind, the very elements of momentum and stillness,
elusiveness and possession are incorporated into the filmic body itself. Furthermore, Johnathan E.
Schroeder (2002) suggests in his book Visual Consumption that the fetish relationship of object
worship, delusional belief in the power of the fetish, and substitution of human relations with fetish
relations are also invoked in the broader dimensions of consumer culture and its aggressive object
worship (p. 157). By being enabled to binge watch not only fragments of the filmic body, but to
consume it as a whole, the possessive binge viewer fetishizes the object, here the object being the
binge watching experience, because it creates different spectator television show relationship. This
different relationship is realized in what the possessive binge viewer sees as no longer traditional, but
rather exotic and erotic. And because he or she is in possession of the whole filmic body, rather than

Diabetes In Diabetes
The burden of chronic, non communicable diseases, such as diabetes, is developing quickly in low and
middle countries. This research found that there is an extent to people lacking in knowledge about
diabetes and its complications, access to diabetes related health care and treatment, dietary and
lifestyle changes; and family and social supports from individuals living with diabetes (Anita,
Miranda, Cody, Peter, 2012). Actualizing administration programs for diabetes for underserved
populations, in this case, the indigenous populations in Guatemala are consequently a global health
challenge. Population Authors Anita, Miranda, Cody and Peter constructed a mixed methods

duration of diabetes), Fisher s exact test for categorical variables (gender and language), and the
Wilcoxon rank sum test for nonparametric variables (years of schooling). Results Substantial

Essay on Osmosis in Onion Cell
The aim of the sixteenth of November experiments was to observe how three different solutions with
various sucrose concentration influenced osmosis in relation to three onion cells and the impact on the
cells structure. A small square of a red onion skin (membrane) was observed under a microscope at
high power (X40) magnification. The observation showed a large number of onion cells. The structure
of one onion cell had a general rectangular shape with a developed cell wall, which gives the
rectangular shape to the cell and a cell membrane just beneath it.
The observation under the microscope of a cell of an onion skin soaked for 15 minutes in distilled
water showed that the cell membrane was pressed against the cell wall. The cell ... Show more content

The lost of water from the vacuoles and cytoplasm pulled the cell membrane away from the cell wall.
The water was diffused from a hypotonic solution to a hypertonic solution. Because the water flowed
out of the cell by osmosis, the cell became more flaccid and then plasmolysed.
The observation under the microscope of a cell of an onion skin soaked for 15 minutes in a 0.5 molar
sucrose solution showed a cell membrane just beneath the cell wall. The cell wall had a rectangular
shape. See diagram 3 for sketch. The cell and its surrounding were in an isotonic solution. The two
solutions in the cell and out (0.5 molar sucrose solution) of the cell were homogenous. No net
movement of water and change in the cell structure was observed. The components of the solute and
solvent were evenly intermixed. The concentration of solute and solvent on either side of the cell
membrane was equalized. Because the onion tissue didn t get any water the cell was flaccid and
nonturgid.
Those three experiments showed that the way onion cells are dealing with the movement of water in
and out of the cell is by osmosis. That Osmosis is the diffusion of water across a membrane into a
solution having a greater solute concentration. The cell

Barttleby s Physical Characters In Bartleby The Scrivener
Directions: Record your answers in paragraph format.
Why do you think Turkey, Nippers, and Ginger Nut are introduced to the reader before Bartleby?
In Bartleby the Scrivener, Melville chooses his order of character introduction in order to illustrate
what kind of man the lawyer is. The entire story depends upon the lawyer s reactions and responses to
Bartleby and upon the reader accepting the lawyer s reactions, responses, and actions as wholly
sincere and in keeping with his character. The descriptions of these characters are also really part of
the setting. The office is cramped and uninspiring, and those who work there could be considered
misfits. Turkey and Nippers together make one effective worker, and Ginger Nuts is nothing but a
glorified errand boy, though he s supposed to be an apprentice. Once we meet them, the tone of the
office is set and helps prepare us for the inimitable Bartleby the scrivener who would prefer not to.
Describe Bartleby s physical characteristics. How is his physical description a foreshadowing of what
happens to him?
Bartleby s physical characteristics foreshadow his death. Bartleby is described as pale and thin. For
Bartleby, his life itself is pointless and he cannot pretend enthusiasm as expressed by his actions. For
example, when he is told to do something his response is I would prefer not to, and when he got fired
from the firm he acted as if nothing happened. His lack of action showed that he didn t care for what
was going on

Human Rights Violations of North Korea
INTRODUCTION North Korea is possibly the least accessible, and the most brutal and repressive
country in the world. (Martin, 2006) Since its formation after World War II very little information has
left the country. What has left are the defectors and the stories of horrible atrocities against humanity
the government is bestowing upon its citizens. Classified as a democracy, it is just a mask hiding the
Kim Dynasty s totalitarian ways.
With its ideology of Juche, they have relied as little as possible on outside help. They rule and produce
on the inside, with only the close to communist China being its biggest factor for production of
money. Human rights are completely unheard of, and reports of torture within its reform camps are ...

As well as having many similarities with Marxist and Stalinist ideologies, Maoist ideologies show
their influence as well. Today, outside analysts see little of Juche in North Korea. Much outside help
has come as far as economics. North Korea survives heavily on imports and exports through China
and other countries. Also, people have little influence on the choices made in government. (Kang,
2001) The ruling party in North Korea is the Workers Party of Korea. This party has been the only
ruling party since the formation of North Korea. While other minor parties exist, they are bound by the
ruling party and their law. Elections within the party due occur, but there is never more than one
candidate that is selected by the party beforehand. The first and only president of North Korea, Kim Il
Sung, is the Eternal President. To this day no one takes his seat as President, and the position is
formally left open and empty. The next highest position in North Korean office according to the
Constitution is the Chairman of the National Defense Commission. The Chairman commands the
military and directs national defense for the state. Kim Jong Il, Kim Il Sung s son, has taken this
position since his father passed away in 1984, abolishing the reelection requirement for the National
Defense Commission, as well as commenting on there being no need for the return of a presidential
body. Kim Jong Il also

The Pros And Cons Of Representative Democracy
We chose to institute a direct democracy instead of a representative democracy. A direct democracy
occurs when all of the citizens propose and vote on laws. This is modeled after the Assembly in
ancient Athens. In contrast, a representative democracy happens when the people elect a representative
who proposes laws for them and a group of government officials vote to pass or reject the law, which
is similar to the current government of the United States of America. One of the biggest issues with a
representative democracy is that it s very easy to influence or bribe the officials. As a result, the
bribers nearly always have the officials on their side. These bribes are in the form of campaign
donations. An example of this bribery would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not all of the positions for government offices are filled through an election; many are filled simply
by an important government official deciding who gets the job. This correlates with the issue
mentioned previously about bias. In the United States of America, the seats for the Supreme Court are
filled by the President rather than an election. Therefore, if the President is very conservative, he will
appoint judges to the Supreme Court who have rulings which contain more conservative than liberal
ideas. In addition, many other governmental posts are filled with people who are liked by those in
higher positions. This proves one of the biggest arguments against a representative government. Even
though people choose the representatives, there are so many positions that are filled without an
election, the people don t actually have a voice in the selection process. But the biggest benefit of a
direct democracy is that the people actually get a say instead of appointing a representative and hoping
that the representatives won t end up being close minded to the needs of all the people. Also, because
the people will actually get a say, then there won t always be complaints that someone didn t get a
voice. Of course there will still be people who are unhappy, but this is to be expected in a democratic
system. A direct democracy dismantles almost all of the other

Critique of Bentham s Quantitative Utilitarianism
Over time, the actions of mankind have been the victim of two vague labels, right and wrong. The
criteria for these labels are not clearly defined, but they still seem to be the standard by which the
actions of man are judged. There are some people that abide by a deontological view when it comes to
judging the nature of actions; the deontological view holds that it is a person s intention that makes an
action right or wrong. On the other hand there is the teleological view which holds that it is the result
of an action is what makes that act right or wrong. In this essay I will be dealing with utilitarianism, a
philosophical principle that holds a teleological view when it comes the nature of actions. To solely
discuss utilitarianism is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The interest of the community is said to be a sum of the total interests of its several members. It is
never specified what how exactly this total is acquired or even if the members of the community
would agree on whatever is considered the community s interest. If the members would agree then that
means that everyone in the community had the same interest to begin with. If the members would not
agree, then how can you go about adding up their conflicting interests? These interests, when
attempting to get a total seem like they would cancel each other out which wouldn t make for much of
sum total. Things of this nature (individual interests) are so relative that it would be impossible as well
as pointless to even try to place any kind of concrete value, which brings up another point. What kind
of value are these individual and community interests supposed to have? In order to add things up they
must have some sort of value. Because of Bentham s failure to offer some sort of method for
combining individuals interests and since he failed to offer some sort of concrete value for these
abstract things, his perspective on the interest of the community remains unclear to me.
The second issue that I am going to take up lies in Bentham s method of calculating the general
tendency of an act that affects a community s interest. For starters, the process itself is too

knew I might have a chance with the new coaches. Unfortunately I was wrong about that as well, due
to the fact that the new coaches never gave me a chance to be on the team and I was once again faced
with a dilemma if I should just quit football and move closer to home. The situation wasn t all bad
however, the new coaches at Georgia Southern told me they would give me an opportunity in the next
fall semester of 2016. This in turn gave me hope again and I began to feverishly workout and study

football team and began living out my dream, but once again I was faced with another setback. The
new staff informed me that they didn t have any open roster spots. With this news I began to realize
that due to the fact that they didn t recruit me they simply didn t know me and weren t willing to give
me a chance to show what I could do. Once again I missed out on the football season and began to

Gender Stereotypes In Aladdin
The aim of this essay is to investigate the race, sexuality and gender stereotyping that is expressed
through the Disney film Aladdin and how these elements affect the characters. These elements will be
represented within the characters personality and back story which is then visually represented in the
characters design.
In this Disney film there is a great importance to know the history in the world during the time that
this film was established. The history during 1991 is shown through the characters. The filmmakers
established Aladdin in 1991 Gulf War that lasted six months. Conflict was present between Iraq and

Not only do the stereotypes expressed through the characters and the play a vital role, but the
representation through body structure, style and design help create and grant these characters to be
more unique and individualistic. This allows them to contrast with other background characters and
the environment in which they live.
The way in which Disney films help maintain a respectable name for the hero is through justifying the
characters negative actions. This is present in Aladdin as he is portrayed to be a thief as he steals a loaf
of bread, just before he was about to eat the bread he then sees two children scratching through trash
to feed themselves. Aladdin in turn, gives the children the bread therefore justifying his actions of
thievery. The reasoning behind his actions help to reduce his Arabic decent and the stereotypes related

Volcano Is A Volcano, Volcanic Eruptions, Earth, And Earth
What is a Volcano: A volcano is a rupture in the crust of planets such as Earth. They allow hot lava,
volcanic ash and gasses to escape from a magma chamber. Magma is formed from the melting of
rocks in the Earth s lithosphere, which is part of the Earth s crust and is broken up into giant puzzle
like pieces, and also from the shell below the lithosphere which is the asthenosphere. The
asthenosphere is a soft, fluid part of the Earth that can be pushed around because of the Earth s
warmth. Volcanoes form from eruptions. Once the eruption occurs the lava from the eruption cools to
form a new crust. After several eruptions, the rock builds up and forms the cone shaped mountains or
hills in which we call volcanoes.
What causes an eruption: A volcanic eruption is just a natural way that the Earth cools down and
releases internal heat and pressure. In an eruption, super heated magma from deep within the Earth s
interior works its way to the surface. They most often occur at the tectonic plate boundaries but can
also occur over hotspots or weak areas in the Earth s crust. The two most known types of eruptions are
effusive eruptions and explosive eruptions. Effusive eruptions are eruptions where magma rises
through the surface and flows out of the volcano as the thick liquid that is lava. Explosive eruptions
are eruptions where the magma is torn apart as it rises and reaches the surface in pieces known as pyro
clasts. Effusive eruptions are caused when hot basalt magma reaches the

Military Discipline
1. General. The word discipline comes from the Latin word disciplīna which means to instruct .
Discipline is a specific form of instruction which develops self control, character, and efficiency.
Military discipline is that mental attitude and state of training which renders obedience instinctive
under all conditions. It is founded upon respect for, and loyalty to properly constituted authority.
While it is developed primarily by military drill, every feature of military life has its effects on
military discipline. It is generally indicated in an individual or unit by smartness of appearance and

Maybe a whole squadron deserted its post. In this case, the court handed down the famous, the ghastly,
sentence of decimation. The tribune called the legion on parade and ordered to the front those who
were guilty of desertion of their ranks. He reprimanded them, called them every name he could think
of. This was not just another sermon. Everyone knew how it was going to end. Now I want each of
you to choose a number, he told them. And by lot one out of every ten men was chosen to pay the
penalty. What penalty? On the tribune s order, the army fell on these men their comrades and clubbed
them to death, mercilessly.
The rest of the guilty men were allowed to live, but possibly they thought death was preferable to the
humiliation they had to suffer then. They were told to quarter themselves outside the camp walls,
where they were unprotected; and they were given rations of barley horse food rather than wheat for
sustenance. Their disgrace would live as long as they did. But it isn t only your severe punishments

Women Hollering Creek And The Boarding House Essay
What is a good relationship? Many people get asked this question every day and there are many
different answers. Throughout history love and lust has been a very interesting topic to write about or

Boarding House by James Joyce and Women Hollering Creek by Sandra Cisneros. These so called
love stories main theme is disillusionment. The Boarding House and Women Hollering Creek both
have a conflict, thematic development, and the epiphanies.
The Boarding House is a story that starts off in the beginning with complications, but the main
conflict of the story is that Mrs. Mooney, Mr. Doran, and Polly all want different thing. Mrs. Mooney,
mother of Polly, want to find a husband for Polly. She wants to bring Polly out of the lower social
class and to find her a marriage that will not end in failure like Mrs. Mooney did. Polly also wants a

Comparing Dante s Inferno And Shakespeare s Play King Lear
Dante s Inferno and Shakespeare s play King Lear have many similar motifs within them that allude to
human suffering. One such motif is as long as you can find the words to describe how bad a situation
is, things can get worse. We see this concept in Dante s Inferno when Dante the Pilgrim is traveling
deeper into the depths of hell and he exclaims, If I had words grating and crude enough that really
could describe this horrid hole...I could squeeze out the juice of my memories to the last drop. But I
don t have these words, and so I am reluctant to begin. While travelling through hell, Dante has seen
the worst humanity has to offer, and the farther he goes, the less he can describe exactly what he is
seeing, much like how in our lives, the deeper we travel within ourselves, the less we are able to
describe what we are feeling. In King Lear, we see the same problem outlined through the fool when
he warns Lear, And worse I may be yet. The worse is not so long as we can say, This is the worst.
Both the Inferno and King Lear, explore the deepest parts of humanity in order to demonstrate that we
may not always be able to explain what is within us because what is within us, is oftentimes
unrecognizable to ourselves, so much so that even our language cannot put forth the words. Another
motif found in both works is the matter of blindness, and when we are blind to the consequences of
sin, it is much easier to jump into the unknown. In King Lear, Gloucester accepts death as a

deeply related to the tourism, hospitality and leisure industry. Besides this, it is a major contributor to
the current development of the cultural and entertainment sector in the state of Qatar. Furthermore,
QIM is meant to bring in more tourists into Qatar. One more thing, Qatar s Islamic Arts Museum is

Effects Of Fibonacci Sequence In Nature
Fibonacci Sequence in Nature Introduction: Nature is interesting, wonderful and fascinating. In a state
of equilibrium, animals, plants, insects, and many other things create amazing habitats suited to their
environment and living condition. This is just one of many reasons why nature is so wonderful and
fills one with curiosity and fascination. For example, the design of a shell for a shell gives them
protection and survive in though environment where they have to deal with several different predators.
There are significant amount of species that has ability to camouflage which helps them to create
fascinating habitats. A reindeer eyeballs turn blue during winter to help them see at lower light levels.

Drug Problems in The U.S.
Drug Problems in The U.S. The fact that war is the word we use for almost everything on terrorism,
drugs, even poverty has certainly helped to desensitize us to its invocation; if we wage wars on
everything, how bad can they be? Glenn Greenwald. The use of drugs through out the United States
has gotten worse and worse every year, and I know that in the U.S. it is both a health problem and a
crime problem. But I feel like that we should treat the abuse of illegal drugs as a matter of public
health. It should be treated as a matter of public health over a matter of criminal justice because we
can help people that abuse drugs and are addicted. Also well be able to get their lives on track so they

This predicament, after all, has been sufficiently glamorized on screen and in Romantic poetry. The
rub, however, is that before long this quest turns into a full time occupation, with your need for an
alternative coming to match a drug addict s daily fix. (pg.2) Listening to Boredom
What interests me is that all these teenagers and adults all probably said before becoming drug abusers
was yeah ill just try it once but ended up using more than once. The reason I find this interesting is
because it shows how someone is slowly becoming an addict, they say they re only going to do it
once, then that turns into only one more time ill do it and so on. Thus our economy and society have to
depend upon the constant cultivation of new needs the production of new desires. That just goes to
show what effect drugs can have on your health after one time because obviously your mind and body
is starting to develop a need for these drugs to keep you happy which takes a toll on a person. In the
article Use Becomes Abuse and Abuse Becomes Addiction by David Sheriff, he said experimenting
means you try something two or three times. Anything more than that is using. (pg.78)
Focusing on drug abuse as a public health issue is also good because the more we focus on getting
people off drugs the less people we have to worry about over dosing. This is good

Colorism And African-American Culture
Colorism is a form of prejudice in which people are treated differently based on skin color. The
subject matter of colorism can be greatly argued amongst the African American culture. Because of
the direct biased attitudes towards skin color there has been a manifestation of internal oppression
within the Black race. According to the article, The Persistent Problem of Colorism: Skin Tone, Status,
and Inequality (Hunter 2007), researchers confirmed that fair skinned people have clear advantages
over dark skinned people in areas such as education, politics and income. Nevertheless, dark skinned
people of color are more genuine and approved than fair skinned people. Colorism has had a
tremendous impact on the African American culture and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Self esteem plays a major role in colorism because it affects how you see and feel about yourself, how
you treat yourself, and your actual behaviors in various situations. Studies that examined skin color in
the lives of 123 African American adolescents (aged 11 19 years) found complexion to be related to
self esteem, but the study also brought additional complexity to the issue. Students who self reported
as lighter or darker had lower levels of satisfaction with their skin color than did students whose skin
color was classified as somewhere in between . (Davis, 2015). Colorism can affect how we are judged
by other African Americans. For African American girls, self evaluation may be seen as a liking for
physical characteristics that they believe will be judged more favorably (i.e., lighter skin color, longer
hair, and passionate features, etc.). This might cause a risk for African American girls who may not
follow this standard. Higher sexual risk and substance abuse behavior by African American girls can
be contributed to internalizing colorism attitudes. Skin bleaching is another important risk behavior.
Skin bleaching is widely known throughout the Caribbean, Africa, and in the United States, posing
several serious and negative health effects on the human body, including mercury poisoning,
permanent thinning of the skin, premature aging of the skin, increased risk of skin

that specialist must make a two point measurement, which means, take two unmovable objects of that

detective will have to carry out all these tasks while also interviewing witnesses and tracking down
suspects to solve the crime. For detectives to get DNA from a person the detective must get a warrant

have enough evidence to get a warrant for DNA sample the detective can gather evidence from objects
the suspect may have come into contact with in the interview room. When the detective interviews a
suspect they will give the suspect a glass of water hoping that the suspect will drink out of it and the
detective can then send that glass to the forensics and get the DNA tested that is on the glass and see if
it is a match to the crime. Other methods detectives will use is asking the suspect to lick an envelope

The Ishtar Gate Was The 7 Wonders Of The Ancient World
The Ishtar Gate was built by constructed by King Nebuchadnezzar II in 575 BCE. It was one of eight
gates built of the inner city of Babylon which today is Iraq. This gate was the main entrance into the
great city of Babylon. The Ishtar Gate was so well known that it made the list of the seven wonders of
the ancient world, but was later replaced with the lighthouse of Alexandra. Some people to this day
still say that the Gate of Ishtar should still be one of the seven wonders. What makes this gate so
wonderful and great that it used to be considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world? The
Ishtar gate was dedicated to the Babylon goddess Ishtar. Ishtar was the goddess of fertility, love, war,
and sex. On the gate there are three types of animals a lion, dragon, and a bull. The lion is represented
of the goddess Ishtar. The other two the bull and the dragon Nebuchadnezzar had put in to pay homage
to two other gods. The young bull represented Adad and the dragon represented Marduk. Adad was
the god of the weather and Marduk was the national god of Babylon. The goddess Ishtar is a
Mesopotamian goddess that stands for war and sexual love. In the Sumerian tradition the goddess
Ishtar takes the role as a fertility figure. But she is also a much more complex character she is always
surrounded by death and disaster within her myths. The Akkadian Ishtar was the protector of
prostitutes and the patroness of the alehouse. Her worship in this religion

Summer Is Better Than Summer Essay
Just think of tanning in the sand on a beach and sipping a sweet drink. To some, that sounds like the

traits than Winter. Some find themselves even getting depressed in the Winter. Although, I do thank
mother nature for giving Summer. The summer season appears to be more appealing in not just the
weather category, but the foods and drinks! I believe that the summer s typical food and drink trends
are so much better. During the summertime most can find themselves enjoying light, cold, or grilled
foods. Unlike winter s casseroles and warm coffees, summertime gives pasta s, fruits, fresh

opportunities to be active in sports. One can find oneself participating in sports like, softball, baseball,
three on three street basketball, crossfit outdoor classes, running, fishing tournaments, and so many
more. Could one do everyone of these things in the Winter too? The temperatures that the Summer
season has to offer allows people to be able to be outside and be involved in the summer activities.
Because of the low and dangerous Winter temperatures, it is not safe for elders or adolescents to be

Asia has been a growing force since about 1960. With population dynamics being the biggest

Comparison Of Receptors And Olfactory
Odors are a distinctive smell, especially an un unpleasant one. Odors attach to receptors of olfactory
cells in the nasal mucosa. Olfactory cells in the nasal mucosa are where they activate nerve signals.
These signals are processed in the olfactory bulb, a structure at the base of the forebrain that transmit
the signal to other brain areas. People have about 450 olfactory receptors. Each receptor can be
activated by many different odor molecules, and each odor molecule can activate several different
types of receptors. However, the forces that bind receptors and odor molecules can greatly differ in
strength, so that some interactions are better fits than others. The complication of receptors and their

How Did Samuel De Champlain Affect The World
Ever wonder what marriages were like in the 1600s? Well it was legal to date someone that was 31
years younger and at the age of 12 and that is exactly what Samuel De Champlain did.
(https://apecsec.org/interesting facts about samuel de champlain/) When Champlain reached the age of
43 he married Helene Boullé when she was 12 years old on December 30, 1610. Champlain was born
in 1574 in Brouage, France and died in 1635 in Quebec City, France. Samuel De Champlain did many
things that have affected the way we think about the world today. One of these reasons is that he
mapped the Great Lakes. Another reason is that he mapped the Atlantic coast of America. The final
reason is that he established and governed New France and the City of Quebec.

One reason why is that is was very important to the growth of Canada and America. This is because
without the establishment of New France and Quebec than a big part of North America would either
not be governed by any country or could be governed by a different country which would completely
change how North America is today. Another reason is that it is important to the location and way that
Quebec is today. Without Samuel De Champlain to govern and establish it, Quebec may have been in
a completely different place, very different based on who established it, and could potentially be
nonexistent. This is why the establishment and governing of New France and Quebec has contributed

The extent to which Wooden s pyramid of success fits today s business environment
Touching on some key tenets of his pyramid of success, he provides what is ideal, what if followed
would lead to great success. The pyramid ideals don t really aptly fit in today s business environment.
Most of the times, the flag is usually highly held up by the leader, a C.E.O or the managing director of
an organization. The staff usually does not follow through with these aspirations. Workers are not
enthusiastic about their job roles; they are there because they needed a job. They thus do not care
about being their very best in what they do. Leaders also have no time to make the staff work as a
team; to some leadership is not a calling. It is something they have to do to earn a living which is a
really pitiful situation.

building, providing an organized structure for the departments while simultaneously creating an east

Today s mode of possessive spectatorship as analyzed by Mulvey can be remediated in the tradition of early cine eroticism. With this in mind, the very elements of momentum and stillness, elusiveness and possession are incorporated into the filmic body itself. Furthermore, Johnathan E. Schroeder (2002) suggests in his book Visual Consumption that the fetish relationship of object worship, delusional belief in the power of the fetish, and substitution of human relations with fetish relations are also invoked in the broader dimensions of consumer culture and its aggressive object worship (p. 157). By being enabled to binge watch not only fragments of the filmic body, but to consume it as a whole, the possessive binge viewer fetishizes the object, here the object being the binge watching experience, because it creates different spectator television show relationship. This different relationship is realized in what the possessive binge viewer sees as no longer traditional, but rather exotic and erotic. Essay on Osmosis in Onion Cell The aim of the sixteenth of November experiments was to observe how three different solutions with various sucrose concentration influenced osmosis in relation to three onion cells and the impact on the cells structure. A small square of a red onion skin (membrane) was observed under a microscope at high power (X40) magnification. The observation showed a large number of onion cells. The structure of one onion cell had a general rectangular shape with a developed cell wall, which gives the rectangular shape to the cell and a cell membrane just beneath it. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The lost of water from the vacuoles and cytoplasm pulled the cell membrane away from the cell wall. The water was diffused from a hypotonic solution to a hypertonic solution. Because the water flowed out of the cell by osmosis, the cell became more flaccid and then plasmolysed. The observation under the microscope of a cell of an onion skin soaked for 15 minutes in a 0.5 molar sucrose solution showed a cell membrane just beneath the cell wall. The cell wall had a rectangular shape. See diagram 3 for sketch. The cell and its surrounding were in an isotonic solution. The two solutions in the cell and out (0.5 molar sucrose solution) of the cell were homogenous. No net movement of water and change in the cell structure was observed. The components of the solute and solvent were evenly intermixed. The concentration of solute and solvent on either side of the cell membrane was equalized. Because the onion tissue didn t get any water the cell was flaccid and nonturgid. Those three experiments showed that the way onion cells are dealing with the movement of water in and out of the cell is by osmosis. • 6. Barttleby s Physical Characters In Bartleby The Scrivener Directions: Record your answers in paragraph format. Why do you think Turkey, Nippers, and Ginger Nut are introduced to the reader before Bartleby? In Bartleby the Scrivener, Melville chooses his order of character introduction in order to illustrate what kind of man the lawyer is. The entire story depends upon the lawyer s reactions and responses to Bartleby and upon the reader accepting the lawyer s reactions, responses, and actions as wholly sincere and in keeping with his character. The descriptions of these characters are also really part of the setting. The office is cramped and uninspiring, and those who work there could be considered misfits. Turkey and Nippers together make one effective worker, and Ginger Nuts is nothing but a glorified errand boy, though he s supposed to be an apprentice. Once we meet them, the tone of the office is set and helps prepare us for the inimitable Bartleby the scrivener who would prefer not to. Describe Bartleby s physical characteristics. How is his physical description a foreshadowing of what happens to him? Bartleby s physical characteristics foreshadow his death. Bartleby is described as pale and thin. For Bartleby, his life itself is pointless and he cannot pretend enthusiasm as expressed by his actions. For example, when he is told to do something his response is I would prefer not to, and when he got fired from the firm he acted as if nothing happened. Also, people have little influence on the choices made in government. (Kang, 2001) The ruling party in North Korea is the Workers Party of Korea. • 8. The Pros And Cons Of Representative Democracy We chose to institute a direct democracy instead of a representative democracy. A direct democracy occurs when all of the citizens propose and vote on laws. This is modeled after the Assembly in ancient Athens. In contrast, a representative democracy happens when the people elect a representative who proposes laws for them and a group of government officials vote to pass or reject the law, which is similar to the current government of the United States of America. One of the biggest issues with a representative democracy is that it s very easy to influence or bribe the officials. As a result, the bribers nearly always have the officials on their side. These bribes are in the form of campaign donations. An example of this bribery would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not all of the positions for government offices are filled through an election; many are filled simply by an important government official deciding who gets the job. This correlates with the issue mentioned previously about bias. In the United States of America, the seats for the Supreme Court are filled by the President rather than an election. Therefore, if the President is very conservative, he will appoint judges to the Supreme Court who have rulings which contain more conservative than liberal ideas. In addition, many other governmental posts are filled with people who are liked by those in higher positions. This proves one of the biggest arguments against a representative government. Even though people choose the representatives, there are so many positions that are filled without an election, the people don t actually have a voice in the selection process. But the biggest benefit of a direct democracy is that the people actually get a say instead of appointing a representative and hoping that the representatives won t end up being close minded to the needs of all the people. Also, because the people will actually get a say, then there won t always be complaints that someone didn t get a voice. The criteria for these labels are not clearly defined, but they still seem to be the standard by which the actions of man are judged. There are some people that abide by a deontological view when it comes to judging the nature of actions; the deontological view holds that it is a person s intention that makes an action right or wrong. On the other hand there is the teleological view which holds that it is the result of an action is what makes that act right or wrong. It is never specified what how exactly this total is acquired or even if the members of the community would agree on whatever is considered the community s interest. If the members would not agree, then how can you go about adding up their conflicting interests? These interests, when attempting to get a total seem like they would cancel each other out which wouldn t make for much of sum total. Things of this nature (individual interests) are so relative that it would be impossible as well as pointless to even try to place any kind of concrete value, which brings up another point. What kind of value are these individual and community interests supposed to have? In order to add things up they must have some sort of value. Because of Bentham s failure to offer some sort of method for combining individuals interests and since he failed to offer some sort of concrete value for these abstract things, his perspective on the interest of the community remains unclear to me. • 14. Volcano Is A Volcano, Volcanic Eruptions, Earth, And Earth What is a Volcano: A volcano is a rupture in the crust of planets such as Earth. They allow hot lava, volcanic ash and gasses to escape from a magma chamber. Magma is formed from the melting of rocks in the Earth s lithosphere, which is part of the Earth s crust and is broken up into giant puzzle like pieces, and also from the shell below the lithosphere which is the asthenosphere. The asthenosphere is a soft, fluid part of the Earth that can be pushed around because of the Earth s warmth. Volcanoes form from eruptions. Once the eruption occurs the lava from the eruption cools to form a new crust. After several eruptions, the rock builds up and forms the cone shaped mountains or hills in which we call volcanoes. What causes an eruption: A volcanic eruption is just a natural way that the Earth cools down and releases internal heat and pressure. In an eruption, super heated magma from deep within the Earth s interior works its way to the surface. They most often occur at the tectonic plate boundaries but can also occur over hotspots or weak areas in the Earth s crust. The two most known types of eruptions are effusive eruptions and explosive eruptions. Effusive eruptions are eruptions where magma rises through the surface and flows out of the volcano as the thick liquid that is lava. Explosive eruptions are eruptions where the magma is torn apart as it rises and reaches the surface in pieces known as pyro clasts. Effusive eruptions are caused when hot basalt magma reaches the ... • 18. Comparing Dante s Inferno And Shakespeare s Play King Lear Dante s Inferno and Shakespeare s play King Lear have many similar motifs within them that allude to human suffering. One such motif is as long as you can find the words to describe how bad a situation is, things can get worse. We see this concept in Dante s Inferno when Dante the Pilgrim is traveling deeper into the depths of hell and he exclaims, If I had words grating and crude enough that really could describe this horrid hole...I could squeeze out the juice of my memories to the last drop. But I don t have these words, and so I am reluctant to begin. While travelling through hell, Dante has seen the worst humanity has to offer, and the farther he goes, the less he can describe exactly what he is seeing, much like how in our lives, the deeper we travel within ourselves, the less we are able to describe what we are feeling. In King Lear, we see the same problem outlined through the fool when he warns Lear, And worse I may be yet. The worse is not so long as we can say, This is the worst. Both the Inferno and King Lear, explore the deepest parts of humanity in order to demonstrate that we may not always be able to explain what is within us because what is within us, is oftentimes unrecognizable to ourselves, so much so that even our language cannot put forth the words. Drug Problems in The U.S. Drug Problems in The U.S. The fact that war is the word we use for almost everything on terrorism, drugs, even poverty has certainly helped to desensitize us to its invocation; if we wage wars on everything, how bad can they be? Glenn Greenwald. The use of drugs through out the United States has gotten worse and worse every year, and I know that in the U.S. it is both a health problem and a crime problem. But I feel like that we should treat the abuse of illegal drugs as a matter of public health. It should be treated as a matter of public health over a matter of criminal justice because we can help people that abuse drugs and are addicted. This predicament, after all, has been sufficiently glamorized on screen and in Romantic poetry. The rub, however, is that before long this quest turns into a full time occupation, with your need for an alternative coming to match a drug addict s daily fix. (pg.2) Listening to Boredom What interests me is that all these teenagers and adults all probably said before becoming drug abusers was yeah ill just try it once but ended up using more than once. The reason I find this interesting is because it shows how someone is slowly becoming an addict, they say they re only going to do it once, then that turns into only one more time ill do it and so on. Thus our economy and society have to depend upon the constant cultivation of new needs the production of new desires. That just goes to show what effect drugs can have on your health after one time because obviously your mind and body is starting to develop a need for these drugs to keep you happy which takes a toll on a person. In the article Use Becomes Abuse and Abuse Becomes Addiction by David Sheriff, he said experimenting means you try something two or three times. Anything more than that is using. The subject matter of colorism can be greatly argued amongst the African American culture. Because of the direct biased attitudes towards skin color there has been a manifestation of internal oppression within the Black race. According to the article, The Persistent Problem of Colorism: Skin Tone, Status, and Inequality (Hunter 2007), researchers confirmed that fair skinned people have clear advantages over dark skinned people in areas such as education, politics and income. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Self esteem plays a major role in colorism because it affects how you see and feel about yourself, how you treat yourself, and your actual behaviors in various situations. Studies that examined skin color in the lives of 123 African American adolescents (aged 11 19 years) found complexion to be related to self esteem, but the study also brought additional complexity to the issue. Students who self reported as lighter or darker had lower levels of satisfaction with their skin color than did students whose skin color was classified as somewhere in between . (Davis, 2015). Colorism can affect how we are judged by other African Americans. For African American girls, self evaluation may be seen as a liking for physical characteristics that they believe will be judged more favorably (i.e., lighter skin color, longer hair, and passionate features, etc.). This might cause a risk for African American girls who may not follow this standard. Higher sexual risk and substance abuse behavior by African American girls can be contributed to internalizing colorism attitudes. Skin bleaching is another important risk behavior. Skin bleaching is widely known throughout the Caribbean, Africa, and in the United States, posing several serious and negative health effects on the human body, including mercury poisoning, permanent thinning of the skin, premature aging of the skin, increased risk of skin ... It was one of eight gates built of the inner city of Babylon which today is Iraq. This gate was the main entrance into the great city of Babylon. The Ishtar Gate was so well known that it made the list of the seven wonders of the ancient world, but was later replaced with the lighthouse of Alexandra. Some people to this day still say that the Gate of Ishtar should still be one of the seven wonders. What makes this gate so wonderful and great that it used to be considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world? The Ishtar gate was dedicated to the Babylon goddess Ishtar. Ishtar was the goddess of fertility, love, war, and sex. On the gate there are three types of animals a lion, dragon, and a bull. The lion is represented of the goddess Ishtar.
