Dogsong by Gary Paulsen is a very enjoyable book. This book follows a 14 year old eskimo boy name
Russel Susskit. He lives with his dad in a village in the winter. During the summer they live in fish
camps together. Russels mother had abandoned him and his father years ago. Russel has a lot of
questions about life that he hasn t had answered yet. Every day is about the same for the village and
Russel, he wakes up to his dad coughing and the smell of diesel fuel. One day when Russel tells his
dad his opinion about snowmobiles his dad sends him to talk to a village elder named, Oogruk.
Oogruk is a wise,blind, man in the village and he knows the old ways of the eskimo people and how it

I would like to have some of his qualities, but I don t, yet. Oogruk is an old, blind, wise man. These
are just a couple of differences between us. I m not old, yet, i m not blind, and i m not wise, yet. These
are all things that Oogruk has but not me. Some other differences are that he is an eskimo, he lives in
government owned houses in a village, and he is a shaman. Some similarities are that we both think
that the old eskimo ways are good, and we both like to see beautiful things. I think that the older
