The As A Member Of Ancient Roman Society
As a member of Ancient Roman society there are many things I have to look forward to. There s
always music being played, people gallivanting in the street, beautiful things being built, and
wonderful art work popping up all over the place. One other thing I always get to look forward to is
that today someone will die. I know it seems a bit morbid to say that but it s my job. If people didn t
die I wouldn t make money out of it. I m a mourner. I get paid by families of the deceased to make a
scene, so to say, at a funeral. Each and every day when I wake up the first thing I do is go to the crier
to find out if anyone has died. Once I find out the name of the deceased I find their family and discuss
with them if they need my service or not. It s not every single time I have to search for the dead. There
have been multiple occasions where the family knows that I m a mourner and they seek me out while
their loved one is on their death bed and once that person dies they come back to me and tell me it s
time that they need my services. It s very rare that I get turned away. Even the poorest of the poor
families want at least one of us. It is believed that by us causing such a fuss that someone has died that
it will keep the spirit happy and they won t haunt the world of the living. If the family decides to hire
me, and it s very rare that they don t, I get the information I need about when the service will be held
and I return home to get ready. Once home it s the usual

The Electric Car
In 10 years, it is believed that the electric car will slowly start to push the gasoline/petrol vehicle to the
curb, and it will do it with style and swagger. In this ever growing age of technology and
advancement, more and more people are either looking very seriously into or have already transitioned
from ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles. The transition is seemingly a slow one for the
majority of the public and although it is understandable, it is also inevitable. Combustion engine
vehicles have been around for over a century and have dominated the car industry greatly. The
reliance on ICE engines can be visible in any direction someone turns, walking through the streets of
any city. The mindset that ICE rules, and is the only efficient and viable method of transportation is
slowly being replaced by the ever decreasing well of fossil fuels and oil on earth. Oil has been the
spine of the Earth and the gasoline car, it s pumping heart.
There are many reasons that more and more people are turning to electric. Some of the advantages are:
Higher efficiency by as much as 400 to 600 percent over an internal combustion engine
No polluting byproducts because this car gets its power from batteries, the wind or the sun
Three times as efficient as gas engines
Is extremely safe
Gets better mileage than any other car on the road
Quiet to drive
Convenient
Durable
Although everyone has his or her personal motivations to owning and driving electric, some

Edward Jones in 2006
Executive Summary
This memorandum addresses some of the key issues with Edward Jones, which includes the lack of an
online presence, possible cannibalization from larger firms, and the inability to manage funds from
institutional investors. I conclude that the most effective of all of the theorized strategies would be a
combination of Edward Jones original business model with an online platform. This plan would allow
Edward Jones to stay true to its fundamentals, as well as attract new clientele and provide better
service to its existing clients.
Introduction
Edward Jones has become the fourth largest brokerage firm in the United States. By holding on to a
fundamental business strategy based on the core concepts of close client ... Show more content on

Edward Jones average assets per account were $45,556 while Merrill Lynch amp; Morgan Stanley was
$163,667 and $137,111 respectively. Edward Jones leaves revenue on the table by not managing
higher net worth institutional accounts.
Available Strategic Options
Edward Jones strategic direction in 2006 had to respond to competitors like Merrill Lynch if the
partnership wanted to maintain its exceptional performance and growth. The first option focuses on
staying true to Edward Jones small town roots and demonstrating the value of strong personal
relationships with one s financial advisor in planning for the distribution phase of life (Faux, 2014).
FAs can take advantage of face to face interactions and close relationships to communicate to clients
the importance of planning for the distribution phase as soon as possible and hopefully encourage
client referrals. Also, a professional advisor who personally knows the clients and their needs provides
critical support to keeping long term retirement plans on track while still focusing on time sensitive
decisions. This defensive move could stunt the firm s growth, and if it fails, could leave Edward Jones
even more vulnerable to cannibalization.
The second option shifts the company s original policies of strictly face to face interaction to a hybrid
model, which includes online account and portfolio tracking and current news and research. This
option adds value for existing customers because they can view

Rick Perry s Decision On The Hpv Vaccine Essay
Rick Perry s Decision on the HPV Vaccine
Abstract
A very significant portion of a well functioning democratic society is obtaining individuals who will
be obligated by moral decision making regarding political and personal policies. This paper is going to
discuss Rick Perry s decision to mandate that all girls eleven years and older receive the HPV vaccine
before entering the six grade which has caused some controversy among the people of Texas. Positive
and negative features of the decision will be discussed from four different articles that help provide
clarity on the matter.
Introduction
Throughout the years, democracy has been the system of government in The United States of
America. Democracy is a society in which individuals participate in the decision making process of
establishments that make decisions or execute actions that affect them. A democracy also holds the
establishments or organizations fully accountable for the decisions or actions that may infringe on
their human rights. A perfect example of democracy in action is recollecting the law passed by
Governor Rick Perry, in Texas, that mandated that all girls, eleven years and older, receive a vaccine
for a sexually transmitted disease, also known as the HPV vaccine. This stirred a lot of controversy
among many Texas residents deciding whether or not it was the right move in order to progress as a
state.
Positives
Governor Perry s decision concerning the HPV vaccine is highly controversial, but there are

Charles Bukowski The Bluebird
Charles Bukowski was an American poet, short story writer and novelist, responsible for thousands of
poems in the dirty realism literacy movement and was heavily influenced by the social, cultural and
economic ambience of his home city of Los Angeles. Bukowski s childhood was marred by a violent
father, who would beat him regularly, up until his teenage years. Through adolescents, Bukowski
developed an awful case of acne vulgaris, which disfigured his face and made him feel like an
outsider. During the great depression, his father was frequently out of work and would take out his
pain and anxiety on his son. Bukowski took to drink at a young age and become a rather listless,
underachiever as a means of rebellion against not only his father, but the society ... Show more content

This is strongly reflected in Bukowski s poem, The Bluebird , written in 1992.
The poem, The Bluebird is an extremely powerful written piece of which strongly conveys the
message that despite the hard exterior, inside every human, or man more specifically, there is a
persona filled with sentiment and emotions. The great vulnerability that is possessed by men is
oppressed under the social structure where tears are weakness and vulnerability is a disadvantage.
Though through the poem, Bukowski brings out the feeling of the deep corners of our hearts;
breakable and sensitive. Along with it s thought provoking, underlying meaning, Bukowski uses an
array of powerful poetic devices to evoke emotion in the reader. In fact, the Bluebird itself is the use
of imagery. The first few lines of the poem depicts an image that the Bluebird is a part of him. A part
that is untouched, untold to anybody else. Bluebirds are usually birds with frail feathers and thus, the
poet creates an image of his vulnerable heart with the help of

Ways to Establish a Small Business Essay
In this modern era, being smart academically, having a bachelor or master title cannot guarantee a
person from having a good job with a good salary. Some people don t satisfy with their current work
because they think that the salary is small and they should deserve more, no wonder there are many
people work in places that are very contrast with their study in the past. Nowadays there are many
independent businesses running both online and offline such as online shops, restaurant, saloon, etc.
Some may think that it is just a part time job to have an extra salary, but the truth is, we can get a large
amount of incomes if we have a good management skill. Establishing a small business can be easy or

Desires that entrepreneurs possesses can be used as motivations for establishing the business. ( 7
Langkah Membuat Usaha Sendiri , 2012) desires that a person possesses may be a short term such as
successfully establish the business, have clients, to be known by many people or a long term desire
such as having an increasing income every year.
The next crucial thing that needs to be looked at is managing budget for the soon to established
business. A good businessman should be able to calculate on how much money he or she would spend
his or her career. In many cases an amateur businessman tends to miscalculate the budget, and ended
up getting no profit at all. For beginners, there are many ways to obtain enough budgets to start a
business. A small business may require small amount of budget ( two to tem millions) and it is
possible to obtain the money from his or her own savings.( tips mengawali usaha dengan modal kecil,

from close friends, family, or even bank. Some people may think that asking for a loan is somewhat
inappropriate, so another way to acquire the budget is to cooperate with someone else, in other word
having two founders in one business, and automatically the budget will be split in to two. ( Lima cara

Descriptive Essay About Homework
Gemless As I parked in the gravel filled lot I settled in my car for a few minutes contemplating
homework from each of my classes. I stepped outside with my belongings; there was a slight breeze
from the remnants of Hurricane Harvey. Clouds dotted the orange tinted sky as the sun tried to climb
up to be fully seen. The day right from the start seemed like a good day so I went about smiling and
walked blissfully to my normal seat next to my friends. We prepared for the coming classes that day.
The deafening bell sounded and we were on our way to start the actual day. My classmates and I
walked joyfully through the hallways, joking and laughing before reaching our first period destination.
I made my way to the front of the classroom and sat down. The air was crisp so I took out my jacket
and put it on. Our teacher walked in a few minutes late and started to take attendance. The whole
classroom focused on him. After he finished taking attendance, he slowly reached down into a drawer
and pulled out a stack of papers. I stared in disbelief. The stack of papers he pulled out was actually a
pop test. I took the pop test trying to recall everything that we had learned over the course of two
weeks. I focused on the test for most of the class period and finally turned it in. The morning weather
seemed to just be a ruse. This was not a blissful or good day; it took a turn for the worst. I sat there in
the chilling room trying to think of something else to keep

However school organisation and curricula have not been sensitive as yet to fundamentally different
economic situations, life aims and social circumstances of children belonging to poorer strata
households or communities in the shaping of the school structure. Culturally, school norms of
attendance, discipline, homework, tests and exams, and cognitively ethnocentric demands of
concentration on and memorisation of the content of the text by `rote , all prove problematic for
SC/ST children. Furthermore, the curriculum itself as a tool of cultural dominance and hegemony has
an alienating and intimidating impact.
Curriculum and the Scheduled Castes:
For the Scheduled Castes who have sought education as a mechanism to transform as well as enter
mainstream (read dominant) society, the central questions are of representation of their knowledge and
culture and the critiquing of dominant knowledge and value systems of their lived reality and of social
relationships based on dominance/subordination and exclusion. Dominant forms of inequality and
hierarchy are made invisible in the discourse on common nationhood and common and equal
citizenship, which the school curriculum propagates. But for the Scheduled Castes the heart of the
matter is structural oppression, not cultural difference. Thus understandings of oppressive aspects of
our traditional and contemporary structures, the historical construction of groups and communities are

The Transformational Leadership of Coach Carter
Coach Carter also displays transformational leadership. Transformational leadership is the ability of a
leader to get people to do more than they originally expected to do in support of large scale innovation
and change; the leader inspire and excite followers to high level of performance (Nelson Quick, 2013).
According to Marquis Huston (1992), there are five key qualities of a transformational leader. One of
the qualities is having the passion and ability to inspire. Transformational leaders show passion in
their work and have the capacity to pass this passion on to others. Coach Carter is successful in
achieving this through setting clear expectations and demonstrates passion when doing this. At their
first team meeting, Carter hands each student a contract, setting out his expectations of the contracts.
If they do not sign and follow it, they do not play. Coach Carter aims to pass on his passion to the
players enabling them to succeed in playing sports and succeed in their education. Another quality
transformational leaders possess is the ability to pass their values on to others. According to Marquis
Huston (1992), people admire leaders that support their own values and beliefs by enabling others to
understand how their own values make them who they are. Coach Carter encourages a team ethic
throughout. Carter ensures his team takes this on board by stopping everyone from playing academic
achiever or not. He s teaching that successful teams succeed because of

The And Of The Tolkien s Magnum Opus
Rowling has written one of the most recognizable and iconic pieces of literature. Harry Potter series
differs from the works of Lewis and Tolkien. Yet they still have the same impact on the readers. In this
essay I will evaluate Rowling s magnum opus in order to compare her implementations of the gospel
to that of Tolkien and Lewis and to determine whether or not her work is worthy of pertaining to the
western canon. Also, I will describe the implications of her novels on the platonic worldview
according to Rowling s use of the themes of death and the afterlife. Additionally, I will be relating
Rowling s utilization of both death and the after life to that of Tolkien and Lewis in order to analyze
its causation of arousing hope and setting justice. The novels crafted by Tolkien and Lewis seeks not
only to entertain the reader but also to project their religious ideologies. Much like Tolkien and Lewis,
Rowling inserts small hints of her Christian faith subtly into the Harry Potter series. The primary
source for their material is the Gospel. Tolkien, in On Fairy stories writes, fairly dare to guess that in

Farewell To Manzanar, And The Bracelet By Yoshika Uchida
Japanese Americans were sent to internment camps after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. This is when
Americans focused their fears of Japanese Americans turning against them. Perspective is significant
to this particular event due to how it reveals the characters attitudes throughout his or her experience.
The accounts that coincide with each other, although differ in perspectives are, Farewell to Manzanar,
and, The Bracelet . Farewell to Manzanar is a memoir written by Jeanne Wakatsuki who discusses
how her and her family had hardships during the time of the Japanese American War. The Bracelet is a
short story by Yoshika Uchida. The author wrote about a Japanese adolescent, Ruri, who learns a life
lesson while going through traumatic times. Based on a comparison of multiple events, Jeanne and
Ruri have undergone the same experiences. However, those events defined how their and other
individuals attitudes contrast. Likewise to Ruri, Jeanne was forced into an internment camp because
Americans feared them turning against the United States. Jeanne and Ruri s attitude towards the event
were alike due to how they were called enemy aliens. Ruri believes that her father was loyal to the
United States, so it was funny to her how he was being taken away and considered an enemy alien.
This relates to Jeanne because she states that President Roosevelt approved and gave permission to the
War Department authority to take her father. In the short story, Yoshika Uchida says, The FBI had

Apple has done well in focusing on the customer s needs and wants as it is related to the quality of the
product or service as well as price. Apple uses promotional and advertising tools to capture the
attention, interest, and desire of the consumer. Apple captures our attention and interest through
innovating and sleek imagery of their products on Apple s official website as well as keynotes and
other publication (Villefranche, 2011). For example Apple just released the I phone 5 which was
highly anticipated and the publicity that Apple had prior to the release was tremendous and also
brought in many new customers. It has been said that the first weekend the I phone 5 was available
they sold 5 million phones. Apple made a plan and set up objectives and goals that they desired.
Through integrated marketing they have met those goals and it allows for them to set higher goals and
reach them as well. Apple also knows their competitors very well and this allows them to be in this
market and compete very well. Communication is an area that all companies must value. If a customer
has a need or want they must be able to communicate that to the company. This will allow the

Build Up of Suspense in the Film Jaws
The film is called JAWS and is successfully directed by Steven Spielberg. I will be analyzing how
Spielberg builds up suspense and scares the audience throughout this film, considering how camera
shots, music and characters reactions help to build this effect. The film is purposely named JAWS as it
is about a supernatural predator that killed many people with his deadly jaws without prejudice and
discrimination. JAWS is a masterful, visceral and realistic science fiction suspense, horror disaster
film tapping into the most primal of human fear. The film is set in 1975 on a fictional island called

At the same moment, as the first note is played, we see the first images of the film like the shark
looming out of the darkness and catching its prey unaware. Spielberg again gives the idea of the
unseen enemy, hunting, scraping perfection in his domain. As the camera smoothly shows the point of
view of the shark moving throughout the weeds, the music gradually builds up and gets louder as well
as faster, giving the impression that this shark is gaining confidence pushing its way through the
weeds with force and determination. The music gradually increases and a brass instrument plays over
the deep cello. At the end of this sequence a screech is heard tearing our ears, which reminds us the
fate of helpless people caught in the jaws of misfortune. Instinctively we are made to remember this
music. Spielberg intelligently makes us see the point of view of the predator. By not seeing the shark,
suspense is created leaving our imagination to wonder. The music provides a sense of hostile presence
as if an unseen, persistent predator is around the corner and both the music and hunter cause panic and
chaos without being seen.
Music and silence is again used effectively to build up tension

The Pros and Cons of Reptiles as Pets
How many people can say that they have a pet that has been around, in some form or other, for 300
million years? Reptiles are fascinating animals that have been around since the Carboniferous Period,
300 million years ago. Many different species of reptiles have come and gone over the course of time
and there are five main groups. Turtles and tortoises are distinguished by the presence of their
carapace, or shells, which is also their main defense against predators. Lizards are the most diverse
and varied among the reptiles with many different types from chameleons, to iguanas, to geckos, to

There are many interesting things people can learn about reptile behavior from their pet like how their
reptile eats, how it moves, how it hunts, how it reproduces, how it mates, how it defends itself, and
how it s born. One fact that can be learned is that not all reptiles are born from eggs some, like boas,
are born live. There are many benefits to keeping a reptile. For example, people who are allergic to pet
dander from furry animals like cats and dogs can keep a reptile as a pet. Reptiles aren t furry, so there
aren t any allergy problems to consider. Reptiles also don t really require the intense care that is
needed for many other pets as their cold blooded metabolism makes them less active. Many reptiles
also don t need to be fed daily as a good meal will often keep them for days or even months in the case
of many snakes. Reptiles are also good for people who like quiet pets as many are relatively silent.
(PetLife) When choosing a pet reptile people also need to be aware of the advantages and
disadvantages of keeping a reptile to be sure it is suitable for them. For example, the experts at Reptile
Expert.com recommend that Corn snakes make a good snake pet for beginners. They are docile and
respond well to human handling. (Hsin Yi) The owners have to be aware that some pet reptiles have
killed people and take into consideration the fact they will be solely responsible for anything that

The Poem
Samuel Johnson s The Vanity of Human Wishes imitates, as its subtitle states, Juvenal s tenth satire.
The 368 lines of iambic pentameter in rhymed couplets do not claim to provide an exact translation
but rather to apply the poem to eighteenth century England. While Johnson therefore feels free to
modernize the allusions, he follows his model closely. The poem opens with the proposition that
people ask for the wrong things and points out the folly of the first common request, riches. An
interlude follows during which the poet invokes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This avian imagery is more explicit earlier in the poem when he describes Rebellion s vengeful talons
[that seize] on Laud (line 168).
Johnson constructs his argument through synecdoche, offering a few examples to stand for the infinite
number of wishes one might make. So, too, the few people cited suggest the many others the reader
can imagine.
Preferring the general to the specific, Johnson finds synecdoche a convenient device for description.
He does not paint a beautiful face but offers rosy lips and radiant eyes (line 323). The gifts of nature
are suggested by The fruits autumnal, and the vernal flower (line 262).
Personification abounds from the first line, in which Observation surveys humankind, to the last:
Wisdom calms the mind/ And makes the happiness she does not find (lines 367 368). Hope, fear,
desire, and hate spread their snares. Preferment has a gate, History speaks, Pride and Prudence take
her [Virtue s] seat in vain (line 336). Like synecdoche, this device keeps the poem at the level of
general truth that the author seeks. As he would write a decade later in The History of Rasselas, Prince
of Abyssinia (1759), The business of the poet...is to examine, not the individual but the species; to
remark general properties and large appearances. Much of the poem s power derives from the strong

The Capitalist Class And The Proletariat Essay
Adam Smith and Karl Marx both examine the capitalist mode of production as an issue of central
theoretical concern. I will be addressing many issues regarding capitalism from both theorists that will
demonstrate the general theoretical orientation that each has towards the nature of capitalism and the
roles of the capitalist class and the proletariat. This includes the moral character of the capitalist class,
the tendency of capitalism towards crisis, the effects of the division of labour, and the permanence of
the system in a historical context. Further, I will also demonstrate why these issues are relevant today,
and how many of the arguments made by these theorists are still being used.
The first issue surrounding the nature of capitalism I will address is the moral character of the
capitalist class as perceived by Adam Smith and Karl Marx. The overall position that Adam Smith
adopts in the Wealth of Nations is that the pursuit of self interest for personal gain of the capitalist can
be beneficial for the general welfare of society, so long as it is channeled through the market rather
than through the interference of the state (Baumol 1976; McNally 1998). However, this does not
imply that the interests of the capitalist class should be the guiding interests of the market. Baumol
(1976) argues that Smith repeatedly attacks the personal morality of the capitalists, arguing that the
intentions of the individual should not determine the economic fate of society. Smith

Indian Cold Chain Scenario
INDIAN COLD CHAIN SCENARIO
Indian cold chain: modeling the inhibitors
Rohit Joshi, Devinder Kumar Banwet and Ravi Shankar
Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, New Delhi, India
Abstract
Purpose The cold chain has become an integral part of the supply chain of perishable items. Recent
studies have shown a critical absence of a strong and dependable cold chain in developing economies.
The purpose of this paper is to set out to identify and inter relate the inhibitors that significantly
influence the efficiency of a cold chain in developing economies like India.
Design/methodology/approach The synthesis and prioritization of inhibitors are done on the basis of
an extensive literature review as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

refrigerated carriers, packaging, warehouse, traceability, retailer, and consumers, under the aegis of
information management systems (Montanari, 2008). A typical cold chain is shown in Figure 1. The
integrity of the cold chain must be preserved from the point of production, processing, through each of
the transport stages handling, loading, unloading, and storage and extends to storage at the consuming
household (Salin and Nayga, 2003). An efficient management of the cold chain is the key to prevent
unnecessary losses and maintaining the bottom line. Literatures on cold chain management have
discussed about various performance variables and factors that influence the cold chain efficiency and
integrity. Donk et al. (2008) have explored the specific problems of food manufacturers seeking

What Role Does The Chorus Play In Medea
Discuss the importance of the role that the Chorus plays in Euripedes Medea.
br
br The Chorus is very much an important part of Euripedes Medea, and indeed many other works
written in the ancient Greek style. In this play, it follows the journey Medea makes, and not only
narrates, but commentates on what is happening. Euripedes uses the Chorus as a literary device to
raise certain issues, and to influence where the sympathies of the audience lie.
br
br In the list of characters at the beginning of the play, the Chorus is stated to be a chorus of
Corinthian Women. This draws the first link between them and Medea. The Chorus follows Medea on
her journey through this play. They act as narrators on important occurrences in the play; ... Show

When Medea married Jason, she married herself to him for life. She was expected to be totally
obedient and to accept whatever her husband willed. For her to look upon another man other than her
husband would have been totally unacceptable. Whereas Jason marries another woman while he is still
married, and then it is Medea who is banished from Corinth. However, the audience s response to this
type of situation would most likely have been different in Euripedes time, to today. Obviously one can
t know this for sure, but one can deduce it from what we know of that era. Although some wouldn t
have condoned Jason s actions, many would have seen it as normal because it would have been a
much more common occurrence then than today. Nonetheless, in presenting these sort of issues in a
moralistic play to the audience of the day was a brave and controversial thing to do. Obviously, the
views on the these issues have come along way since the time when this play was written, so today s
audience adapts the messages in this play to their own morality. The treatment of women, and of
Medea, and the circumstances that Medea is faced with, help the audience to, not condone, but
understand the reasons for Medea s actions at the end of the play.
br
br The opinion of the audience on characters other than Medea is also influenced by the Chorus. After
the audience hears what Jason has done to Medea in the way of marrying another

Chicopee Public Schools Hr Assessment Essay
Chicopee Public Schools HR Assessment
Background
I have been working for Chicopee Public Schools for 2 years. I truly believe this is the best job I ve
ever had. The flexibility of my job is what I love the most. The only interaction I ve had with Human
Resources was when I got hired and when I have questions about benefits. We will dig deeper into my
human resources department. We will explore issues involving retention, organizational growth,
employee morale, and workplace demographics. I will narrow these four areas down to one and
discuss ways to fix the issues.
Target Crowd
I wanted to get an unbiased view of Chicopee Public School System s Human Resources department
through the eyes of different workers. I targeted workers from different departments. CPS has a unique
organization structure. CPS has a central office, this is where I work on a day to day basis. The central
office could be considered the main hub for CPS. The public schools in Chicopee could be considered
the sub organizations. This is what made it difficult to find a target audience in my organization. For
this reason, I only focused on employees in the central office. My final decision was target two
individuals from my human resources department, the Assistant for English Language Learners and
Teacher Support, and the Assistant for Curriculum. I felt these individuals would give me a 360 degree
view on our human resources department.
Surveys
I figured the best way to reach my targeted individuals was

Samurai Male Prostitutes
Male prostitutes, or kagema, helped relieve the sexual tension built up within the samurai. The
kagame looked theatrical performers who normally took part in kabuki plays due to their heavy use of
makeup and feminine appearance. There are cases of Noh performers resorting to prostitution after a
show in order to please an important person. The substantial difference between the samurai s
relationship with a chigo and a kagema is that the kagema system was based on gender differentiation
as the beauty of the kagema, namely, was compared to that of a courtesan: it trespassed on
heterosexual ground. (Furukawa Makoto 3) Even though it crossed into heterosexual territory, kagema
were not actively sought out and prosecuted for their acts until ... Show more content on

Kills with bow and arrows was much more valued than courtly arts such as composing waka poems
and playing music. (Sachi Schmidt Hori 90) Hypermasculinity was a major issue before the creation
of Bushido as every man was expected to fit a certain standard of physical strength and kill potential.
In the land of Yamato, the stronger the samurai was and the more threatening he looked, the more
likely he would be hired. This is also true for the literature produced during the early period of Japan.
Authors exaggerated the image of a samurai in this time period to make them seem more honorable
and masculine. In reality, they were farmers, artisans, and common folk. It was not until after the
Genpei war that samurai began to become a integral part of society. At first they were hired
mercenaries, then a hired army, and then the warriors made known by writers standards, such as seen
in the Tale of the Heike. With homosexuality, samurai were always the dominant in the relationship.
Even though homosexuality was not looked down upon, if a samurai submits himself to a person who
is more feminine than him, then he is demoralizing and shaming his samurai

Black Hole Research Papers
Black Holes This paper will introduce you to the incredible topic which is black holes. A black hole is
a region of space time exhibiting such strong gravitational effects that nothing can escape from inside
it. (NASA) No human has ever entered a black hole and there is still a large mystery about them; we
have very little idea of where the matter that enters them goes. A black hole cannot be looked into
either, as it sucks all the light into the middle of it. Space programs use special satellites with certain
features that allow them to see these black holes. A black hole can be big or small, sometimes forming
when a star is dying. Some scientists speculate that there can be black holes just 1 centimeter large.

Scary right? Well what about a black hole sucking in the earth, is it possible? Thankfully, black holes
do not go around eating stars, moons, and planets. There is no black hole close enough to the earth for
it to be able to be sucked into. If a black hole the same mass as the sun were to replace the sun, earth
would still not be able to fall into it. The black hole would have the same gravity as the sun and the
planets would orbit it, just as they do the sun. Also, the sun will never turn into a black hole, as it is
not a big enough star to create one.

Taking a Look at Personality Testing
Personality testing allows psychologists to assess and describe an individual s personality on a
systematic and scientific level. Personality testing is used for the assessment of proposed theories,
track personality changes, to evaluate the effectiveness of therapy, diagnose psychological issues and
many more things. This essay will demonstrate how objective and projective approaches to
personality testing have different results and outcomes, thereby reason why objective is the better
form of personality testing. Given the different nature and formats of the two methods of personality
testing, it is clear that wither side has strengths and weaknesses Principles of Personality Testing
Loevinger (1955) has proposed five principles for personality assessment. The first is concerned with
the structure of the test. This suggests a greater degree of test structure ; do identify similarities and
differences in test results and to allow the test administrator to draw conclusions for these results. The
next principle is the disguise principle, which allows for more valid testing. The principle of least
stress creates a valid result, as the participant is comfortable and relaxed with minimal stress under the
test conditions. The fourth principle, the principle of the dynamic continuum highlights how test
results should be measured empirically such as common traits. The final proposition is the principle of
emotional limitation is that the emotions of the administrator are

SPA On A Nacl And H2O Solution With Varying
The Effect SPA on a NaCl and H2O Solution with Varying Amounts of NaCl Ranging From 0.50g
0.62g Sodium Polyacrylate (SPA) is an absorbent. If poured into the right amount H2O, the SPA will
absorb the H2O to the point where, if tipped upside down, the solution will hold. What will happen if
this reaction is disrupted by a compound such as table salt (NaCl)? Physical properties of SPA include
the fact that it is a white solid and that it is insoluble. Chemical properties of SPA include the fact that
it has a pH value of 5.5 6.6 (1% in H2O)1, meaning that SPA is slightly acidic. Pure H2O has a pH of
7, or neutral (neither acidic nor basic)2. The pH indicates the concentration of H+ and OH ions in
H2O3. SPA is reactive with H2O because the H2O is polar, so the farther away the electrons are, H is
more positive and O is more negative. A substance, such as NaCl, would affect the SPA s ability to
absorb H2O because it attracts the positive and negative ions in the H2O to itself and pulls them away
from the SPA. The Cl attracts the H+ ions and the Na+ ions are drawn to the O ions. The purpose of
this experiment is to see how NaCl affects the absorbency of SPA in H2O. If NaCl is added to H2O
then SPA will be less effective in absorbing the H2O because NaCl pulls apart the bonds between the
SPA and the H2O. The experiment begins with massing 2.0g of SPA in a weighboat. In a separate
weighboat, mass 0.50g of NaCl. Then, fill a 200ml beaker with 175ml (175g) of tap H2O.

Adoption Pros And Cons
realize there are consequences and birth parents should realize when they choose adoption, no matter
how sound their reasoning, this is a possibility. When did the welfare of the parent become more
significant than the welfare of the child?
We re not trying to make anyone look bad. We re just trying to get some answers. Every adopted child
has questions. We deserve some answers, (qtd. in Franko and Sanz n.p.) These are the words of
Melinda Elkins Dawson, a woman who was adopted as a child who is searching for her family and
answers. The parents do have a right to privacy and confidentiality that is true, but adoptees deserve to
know the truth about where they came from. It has been proven through research that not all adoptees

family, to a young child who wonders who his real mother and father are and why they did not want
them, to full grown adults in a life consuming search to find their roots, a search that may never end.
Every person deserves the right to their identity and their past. How can we, as fellow humans, deny
another human their most basic and fundamental part of who they are: their name and their roots? Put
yourself in the shoes of these people. Imagine having no clue who you are or where you came from.
Do you have your mother s eyes? Your father s sense of humor? Are you at risk for genetically
transmitted diseases? What is my story? Who am I? Your adoptive family may well still be your
family. No matter what the DNA says otherwise, your adoptive mom may be your real mom to you.
But your story did not start the day you were adopted, it started the day you were born. And no matter
how much you try to suppress it, you need that piece of the

The Culture of Somalia The country of Somalia had a colorful past, in that plenty of conflicts went on
throughout its history. The government of Somalia improved throughout the years. It has overcome
corruption, but even though Somalia is ran different today, the issues of fraud still arise. Government
fraud, Civil War, and American difference have been steady throughout Somalia s peak of destruction.
We look to the present day Somalia and see that terrorism and fraud still try to disrupt the clean

What Is John Bowlby Attachment Theory
Attachment theory. In 1958, John Bowlby proposed the idea of attachment theory (McLeod, 2009).
This theory identifies the infant s need to seek closeness and proximity with the caregiver when he/she
feels scared or threatened. The caregiver provides safety and security. The caregiver and infant s
relationship form four possible attachment styles: secure, avoidant, ambivalent/anxious, and
disorganized (McLeod, 2009). Secure attachment occurs when the caregiver meets the child s needs.
The child feels safe and secure. In contrast, avoidant attachment occurs when the caregiver is
emotionally avoidant, insensitive, and unaware of the child s needs. In this case, the child learns to
care for himself/herself. Avoidant attachment children become independent

Essay about Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation
Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation was founded in 1863 when Mr. Henry Williams purchased Old Fort
Park and donated it to the city of Fort Wayne. Since then, Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation has
continued to grow acquiring 85 more parks which include Reservoir Park in 1880, Foster Park golf
course in 1928, Fort Wayne s Children s Zoo in 1962, the Botanical Conservatory in 1979 and more
recently Robert E. Meyer s Park in 2008. This organization does much more for the community than
just taking care of the city s parks. Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation also hosts many activities in

(City of Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, 2013) Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation organization
budgeted for and planned a way to help save this tree species. For the past couple years, biannual Ash
tree treatments have been in place to help save the Ash trees of Fort Wayne. This past summer 647
Ash trees in Fort Wayne were treated to prevent the Ash Borer from killing them. Because this
treatment is a biannual treatment, only half of the population of Ash trees was treated the summer of
2013. The other half of the population was treated the previous summer and will be treated again in
the summer of 2014. (City of Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, 2013) Davey Resource group was the
lowest bidder and took on the project of treating the Ash trees. Davey Resource Group provides a full
range of natural resource and utility consulting services to the commercial, residential, municipal and
governmental markets. (Davey)
The question arose about the cost benefits of treating the tree versus cutting them down. It cost
approximately $43.00 to treat one tree versus the $400.00 to cut the tree down, grind the stump away,
and plant a new tree in its place. Even though many Ash trees have been saved by this treatment, it
was too late for some. So far 10,500 Ash trees have been cut down in the city of Fort Wayne because
they were attacked by the Ash Borer. This year another 2,447 will be cut down also. Mudrack Tree

  • 2. The As A Member Of Ancient Roman Society As a member of Ancient Roman society there are many things I have to look forward to. There s always music being played, people gallivanting in the street, beautiful things being built, and wonderful art work popping up all over the place. One other thing I always get to look forward to is that today someone will die. I know it seems a bit morbid to say that but it s my job. If people didn t die I wouldn t make money out of it. I m a mourner. I get paid by families of the deceased to make a scene, so to say, at a funeral. Each and every day when I wake up the first thing I do is go to the crier to find out if anyone has died. Once I find out the name of the deceased I find their family and discuss with them if they need my service or not. It s not every single time I have to search for the dead. There have been multiple occasions where the family knows that I m a mourner and they seek me out while their loved one is on their death bed and once that person dies they come back to me and tell me it s time that they need my services. It s very rare that I get turned away. Even the poorest of the poor families want at least one of us. It is believed that by us causing such a fuss that someone has died that it will keep the spirit happy and they won t haunt the world of the living. If the family decides to hire me, and it s very rare that they don t, I get the information I need about when the service will be held and I return home to get ready. Once home it s the usual ... • 3. The Electric Car In 10 years, it is believed that the electric car will slowly start to push the gasoline/petrol vehicle to the curb, and it will do it with style and swagger. In this ever growing age of technology and advancement, more and more people are either looking very seriously into or have already transitioned from ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles. The transition is seemingly a slow one for the majority of the public and although it is understandable, it is also inevitable. Combustion engine vehicles have been around for over a century and have dominated the car industry greatly. The reliance on ICE engines can be visible in any direction someone turns, walking through the streets of any city. The mindset that ICE rules, and is the only efficient and viable method of transportation is slowly being replaced by the ever decreasing well of fossil fuels and oil on earth. Oil has been the spine of the Earth and the gasoline car, it s pumping heart. There are many reasons that more and more people are turning to electric. Some of the advantages are: Higher efficiency by as much as 400 to 600 percent over an internal combustion engine No polluting byproducts because this car gets its power from batteries, the wind or the sun Three times as efficient as gas engines Is extremely safe Gets better mileage than any other car on the road Quiet to drive Convenient Durable Although everyone has his or her personal motivations to owning and driving electric, some ... Edward Jones in 2006 Executive Summary This memorandum addresses some of the key issues with Edward Jones, which includes the lack of an online presence, possible cannibalization from larger firms, and the inability to manage funds from institutional investors. I conclude that the most effective of all of the theorized strategies would be a combination of Edward Jones original business model with an online platform. This plan would allow Edward Jones to stay true to its fundamentals, as well as attract new clientele and provide better service to its existing clients. Available Strategic Options Edward Jones strategic direction in 2006 had to respond to competitors like Merrill Lynch if the partnership wanted to maintain its exceptional performance and growth. The first option focuses on staying true to Edward Jones small town roots and demonstrating the value of strong personal relationships with one s financial advisor in planning for the distribution phase of life (Faux, 2014). FAs can take advantage of face to face interactions and close relationships to communicate to clients the importance of planning for the distribution phase as soon as possible and hopefully encourage client referrals. Also, a professional advisor who personally knows the clients and their needs provides critical support to keeping long term retirement plans on track while still focusing on time sensitive decisions. This defensive move could stunt the firm s growth, and if it fails, could leave Edward Jones even more vulnerable to cannibalization. The second option shifts the company s original policies of strictly face to face interaction to a hybrid model, which includes online account and portfolio tracking and current news and research. Charles Bukowski The Bluebird Charles Bukowski was an American poet, short story writer and novelist, responsible for thousands of poems in the dirty realism literacy movement and was heavily influenced by the social, cultural and economic ambience of his home city of Los Angeles. Bukowski s childhood was marred by a violent father, who would beat him regularly, up until his teenage years. Through adolescents, Bukowski developed an awful case of acne vulgaris, which disfigured his face and made him feel like an outsider. During the great depression, his father was frequently out of work and would take out his pain and anxiety on his son. The great vulnerability that is possessed by men is oppressed under the social structure where tears are weakness and vulnerability is a disadvantage. I stepped outside with my belongings; there was a slight breeze from the remnants of Hurricane Harvey. Clouds dotted the orange tinted sky as the sun tried to climb up to be fully seen. The day right from the start seemed like a good day so I went about smiling and walked blissfully to my normal seat next to my friends. We prepared for the coming classes that day. The deafening bell sounded and we were on our way to start the actual day. My classmates and I walked joyfully through the hallways, joking and laughing before reaching our first period destination. I made my way to the front of the classroom and sat down. The air was crisp so I took out my jacket and put it on. Our teacher walked in a few minutes late and started to take attendance. The whole classroom focused on him. After he finished taking attendance, he slowly reached down into a drawer and pulled out a stack of papers. I stared in disbelief. The stack of papers he pulled out was actually a pop test. I took the pop test trying to recall everything that we had learned over the course of two weeks. Transformational leadership is the ability of a leader to get people to do more than they originally expected to do in support of large scale innovation and change; the leader inspire and excite followers to high level of performance (Nelson Quick, 2013). According to Marquis Huston (1992), there are five key qualities of a transformational leader. One of the qualities is having the passion and ability to inspire. Transformational leaders show passion in their work and have the capacity to pass this passion on to others. Coach Carter is successful in achieving this through setting clear expectations and demonstrates passion when doing this. At their first team meeting, Carter hands each student a contract, setting out his expectations of the contracts. If they do not sign and follow it, they do not play. Coach Carter aims to pass on his passion to the players enabling them to succeed in playing sports and succeed in their education. Another quality transformational leaders possess is the ability to pass their values on to others. According to Marquis Huston (1992), people admire leaders that support their own values and beliefs by enabling others to understand how their own values make them who they are. This is when Americans focused their fears of Japanese Americans turning against them. The accounts that coincide with each other, although differ in perspectives are, Farewell to Manzanar, and, The Bracelet . Farewell to Manzanar is a memoir written by Jeanne Wakatsuki who discusses how her and her family had hardships during the time of the Japanese American War. The Bracelet is a short story by Yoshika Uchida. The author wrote about a Japanese adolescent, Ruri, who learns a life lesson while going through traumatic times. Based on a comparison of multiple events, Jeanne and Ruri have undergone the same experiences. However, those events defined how their and other individuals attitudes contrast. Likewise to Ruri, Jeanne was forced into an internment camp because Americans feared them turning against the United States. Jeanne and Ruri s attitude towards the event were alike due to how they were called enemy aliens. Ruri believes that her father was loyal to the United States, so it was funny to her how he was being taken away and considered an enemy alien. The 368 lines of iambic pentameter in rhymed couplets do not claim to provide an exact translation but rather to apply the poem to eighteenth century England. While Johnson therefore feels free to modernize the allusions, he follows his model closely. So, too, the few people cited suggest the many others the reader can imagine. Preferring the general to the specific, Johnson finds synecdoche a convenient device for description. He does not paint a beautiful face but offers rosy lips and radiant eyes (line 323). The gifts of nature are suggested by The fruits autumnal, and the vernal flower (line 262). I will be addressing many issues regarding capitalism from both theorists that will demonstrate the general theoretical orientation that each has towards the nature of capitalism and the roles of the capitalist class and the proletariat. This includes the moral character of the capitalist class, the tendency of capitalism towards crisis, the effects of the division of labour, and the permanence of the system in a historical context. Further, I will also demonstrate why these issues are relevant today, and how many of the arguments made by these theorists are still being used. The first issue surrounding the nature of capitalism I will address is the moral character of the capitalist class as perceived by Adam Smith and Karl Marx. The overall position that Adam Smith adopts in the Wealth of Nations is that the pursuit of self interest for personal gain of the capitalist can be beneficial for the general welfare of society, so long as it is channeled through the market rather than through the interference of the state (Baumol 1976; McNally 1998). However, this does not imply that the interests of the capitalist class should be the guiding interests of the market. • 23. What Role Does The Chorus Play In Medea Discuss the importance of the role that the Chorus plays in Euripedes Medea. br br The Chorus is very much an important part of Euripedes Medea, and indeed many other works written in the ancient Greek style. In this play, it follows the journey Medea makes, and not only narrates, but commentates on what is happening. Euripedes uses the Chorus as a literary device to raise certain issues, and to influence where the sympathies of the audience lie. br br In the list of characters at the beginning of the play, the Chorus is stated to be a chorus of Corinthian Women. This draws the first link between them and Medea. The Chorus follows Medea on her journey through this play. They act as narrators on important occurrences in the play; ... For her to look upon another man other than her husband would have been totally unacceptable. Whereas Jason marries another woman while he is still married, and then it is Medea who is banished from Corinth. However, the audience s response to this type of situation would most likely have been different in Euripedes time, to today. Obviously one can t know this for sure, but one can deduce it from what we know of that era. Although some wouldn t have condoned Jason s actions, many would have seen it as normal because it would have been a much more common occurrence then than today. Nonetheless, in presenting these sort of issues in a moralistic play to the audience of the day was a brave and controversial thing to do. Obviously, the views on the these issues have come along way since the time when this play was written, so today s audience adapts the messages in this play to their own morality. The treatment of women, and of Medea, and the circumstances that Medea is faced with, help the audience to, not condone, but understand the reasons for Medea s actions at the end of the play. br br The opinion of the audience on characters other than Medea is also influenced by the Chorus. • 24. Chicopee Public Schools Hr Assessment Essay Chicopee Public Schools HR Assessment Background I have been working for Chicopee Public Schools for 2 years. I truly believe this is the best job I ve ever had. The flexibility of my job is what I love the most. The only interaction I ve had with Human Resources was when I got hired and when I have questions about benefits. We will dig deeper into my human resources department. We will explore issues involving retention, organizational growth, employee morale, and workplace demographics. I will narrow these four areas down to one and discuss ways to fix the issues. Target Crowd I wanted to get an unbiased view of Chicopee Public School System s Human Resources department through the eyes of different workers. I targeted workers from different departments. CPS has a unique organization structure. CPS has a central office, this is where I work on a day to day basis. The central office could be considered the main hub for CPS. The public schools in Chicopee could be considered the sub organizations. This is what made it difficult to find a target audience in my organization. For this reason, I only focused on employees in the central office. My final decision was target two individuals from my human resources department, the Assistant for English Language Learners and Teacher Support, and the Assistant for Curriculum. I felt these individuals would give me a 360 degree view on our human resources department. Surveys I figured the best way to reach my targeted individuals was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The kagame looked theatrical performers who normally took part in kabuki plays due to their heavy use of makeup and feminine appearance. There are cases of Noh performers resorting to prostitution after a show in order to please an important person. The substantial difference between the samurai s relationship with a chigo and a kagema is that the kagema system was based on gender differentiation as the beauty of the kagema, namely, was compared to that of a courtesan: it trespassed on heterosexual ground. Kills with bow and arrows was much more valued than courtly arts such as composing waka poems and playing music. (Sachi Schmidt Hori 90) Hypermasculinity was a major issue before the creation of Bushido as every man was expected to fit a certain standard of physical strength and kill potential. In the land of Yamato, the stronger the samurai was and the more threatening he looked, the more likely he would be hired. This is also true for the literature produced during the early period of Japan. Authors exaggerated the image of a samurai in this time period to make them seem more honorable and masculine. In reality, they were farmers, artisans, and common folk. It was not until after the Genpei war that samurai began to become a integral part of society. At first they were hired mercenaries, then a hired army, and then the warriors made known by writers standards, such as seen in the Tale of the Heike. With homosexuality, samurai were always the dominant in the relationship. Even though homosexuality was not looked down upon, if a samurai submits himself to a person who is more feminine than him, then he is demoralizing and shaming his samurai ... A black hole is a region of space time exhibiting such strong gravitational effects that nothing can escape from inside it. (NASA) No human has ever entered a black hole and there is still a large mystery about them; we have very little idea of where the matter that enters them goes. A black hole cannot be looked into either, as it sucks all the light into the middle of it. Space programs use special satellites with certain features that allow them to see these black holes. A black hole can be big or small, sometimes forming when a star is dying. Some scientists speculate that there can be black holes just 1 centimeter large. There are multiple types of ... • 27. Taking a Look at Personality Testing Personality testing allows psychologists to assess and describe an individual s personality on a systematic and scientific level. Personality testing is used for the assessment of proposed theories, track personality changes, to evaluate the effectiveness of therapy, diagnose psychological issues and many more things. This essay will demonstrate how objective and projective approaches to personality testing have different results and outcomes, thereby reason why objective is the better form of personality testing. Given the different nature and formats of the two methods of personality testing, it is clear that wither side has strengths and weaknesses Principles of Personality Testing Loevinger (1955) has proposed five principles for personality assessment. The first is concerned with the structure of the test. This suggests a greater degree of test structure ; do identify similarities and differences in test results and to allow the test administrator to draw conclusions for these results. The next principle is the disguise principle, which allows for more valid testing. The principle of least stress creates a valid result, as the participant is comfortable and relaxed with minimal stress under the test conditions. The fourth principle, the principle of the dynamic continuum highlights how test results should be measured empirically such as common traits. The final proposition is the principle of emotional limitation is that the emotions of the administrator are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. SPA On A Nacl And H2O Solution With Varying The Effect SPA on a NaCl and H2O Solution with Varying Amounts of NaCl Ranging From 0.50g 0.62g Sodium Polyacrylate (SPA) is an absorbent. If poured into the right amount H2O, the SPA will absorb the H2O to the point where, if tipped upside down, the solution will hold. What will happen if this reaction is disrupted by a compound such as table salt (NaCl)? Physical properties of SPA include the fact that it is a white solid and that it is insoluble. Chemical properties of SPA include the fact that it has a pH value of 5.5 6.6 (1% in H2O)1, meaning that SPA is slightly acidic. Pure H2O has a pH of 7, or neutral (neither acidic nor basic)2. The pH indicates the concentration of H+ and OH ions in H2O3. SPA is reactive with H2O because the H2O is polar, so the farther away the electrons are, H is more positive and O is more negative. A substance, such as NaCl, would affect the SPA s ability to absorb H2O because it attracts the positive and negative ions in the H2O to itself and pulls them away from the SPA. The Cl attracts the H+ ions and the Na+ ions are drawn to the O ions. The purpose of this experiment is to see how NaCl affects the absorbency of SPA in H2O. If NaCl is added to H2O then SPA will be less effective in absorbing the H2O because NaCl pulls apart the bonds between the SPA and the H2O. The experiment begins with massing 2.0g of SPA in a weighboat. In a separate weighboat, mass 0.50g of NaCl. Then, fill a 200ml beaker with 175ml (175g) of tap H2O. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This theory identifies the infant s need to seek closeness and proximity with the caregiver when he/she feels scared or threatened. The caregiver provides safety and security. The caregiver and infant s relationship form four possible attachment styles: secure, avoidant, ambivalent/anxious, and disorganized (McLeod, 2009). Secure attachment occurs when the caregiver meets the child s needs. The child feels safe and secure. In contrast, avoidant attachment occurs when the caregiver is emotionally avoidant, insensitive, and unaware of the child s needs. In this case, the child learns to care for himself/herself. For the past couple years, biannual Ash tree treatments have been in place to help save the Ash trees of Fort Wayne. This past summer 647 Ash trees in Fort Wayne were treated to prevent the Ash Borer from killing them. Because this treatment is a biannual treatment, only half of the population of Ash trees was treated the summer of 2013. The other half of the population was treated the previous summer and will be treated again in the summer of 2014.
