Tradition Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Tradition" can be both a fascinating exploration and a
daunting challenge. The difficulty lies in the vastness and diversity of traditions across cultures,
time periods, and social contexts. The concept of tradition encompasses customs, beliefs, rituals,
and practices that are passed down through generations, making it a complex and multifaceted
subject.
One of the challenges in writing such an essay is the need to strike a balance between providing
a comprehensive overview and delving into specific aspects. It requires careful research to
understand the historical, cultural, and societal influences that shape traditions. Additionally,
navigating through the intricate interplay of tradition with modernity poses a challenge, as some
traditions evolve or face resistance in contemporary settings.
The essay should not merely serve as a descriptive account but should engage critically with the
concept of tradition. Analyzing its role in shaping identities, preserving cultural heritage, or even
perpetuating inequalities requires a nuanced approach. Furthermore, addressing the dynamic
nature of traditions, where some endure while others fade away, adds another layer of
complexity.
Structuring the essay to present a coherent narrative and argument is another aspect that demands
attention. Balancing between providing context, offering insightful analysis, and maintaining the
reader's interest can be a delicate task. The essay should seamlessly transition between discussing
the theoretical aspects of tradition and providing real-world examples to illustrate key points.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the topic of "Tradition" necessitates a thoughtful and
meticulous approach. It involves navigating through the vast landscape of cultural practices,
historical legacies, and contemporary dynamics. However, with a well-researched and organized
strategy, one can unravel the intricacies of tradition and present a compelling exploration of this
rich and diverse subject.

Why A Champion Is Someone Who Makes A Positive
Change
I believe that a champion is someone who makes a positive change in society. I
enjoy bringing happiness to people s lives and doing community service makes me
feel like I can accomplish this. Community service is not just about giving back; it is
also about building your own character. In seventh grade, I decided to start helping
the community.
When I was in seventh grade, I decided that I really wanted to find a way to help
children who are sick. I learned that not all families can provide enough support to
even live in a private home. Some families must stay in Ronald McDonald House
for long periods of time when their child is in the hospital. I felt that, as a kid who
was healthy, I wanted to help other kids in unfavorable conditions ... Show more

This day was great for me because I truly felt blessed to have accomplished
something for the community.. The moment I had finished pouring the tabs into the
recycling bin, I felt like all those years of collecting were validated because I was
successful in reaching my goal. The money exchanged for the pull tabs supports the
Ronald McDonald House mission of providing a Home Away From Home for
critically ill children and their families throughout the Rio Grande Valley. At the time
I donated the pull tabs, ninety percent of families did not have the financial
resources to contribute the $10 per night that is asked of them to consider paying.
My efforts were recognizable and I hope that many people start their own activities
and fundraisers that can benefit society and the world in a positive way. This
activity did not just make me a great community service helper. It made me a leader
and a better person because I was able to influence others to help the cause. In doing
so, I know that in the next few years, many families will have access to stay in the
Ronald McDonald House in Harlingen, Texas. I am honored to have demonstrated the
community good will that the Ronald McDonald organization appreciates.
After eighth grade, I started cycling which allowed me to enjoy exercising, be a
positive role model for others, and donate money to the community for various
causes. The effort required for cycling is higher
The Alchemist And Walt Whitman s Journey
Paulo Coehlo and Walt Whitman both use their works ВЁThe Alchemist and
ВЁSong of the Open RoadВЁ to portray you embarking on a life fulfilling journey.
It s true, that s what life does. It makes you cry and laugh and think and stop,
sometimes. It s all about the experience. Journeys try everything you are willing to
give and both of these authorЕ› works show that destiny, while inevitable, can be bent
to accommodate your desires.
The world can, and sometimes will, affect how your life will turn out and what you
do with it. It can change the outcomes of your choices and change you as a person in
general. Sometimes, the world wants to help you. As Paulo Coelho wrote on page 22

People shape you. They nurture you and they make you who you are. You think,
Oh, that person doesn t influence me at all. All of my decisions are of my own
merit. I say that s foolish to believe, because you d be surprised how much and how
many people impact your daily life. But, when you re trying to live out your
dreams, is it really a good idea for them to have a significant influence on you? Don
t misunderstand, you can always take advice(and do so with grace), but
sometimes, some things are better left alone in your hands. Paulo Coelho writes on
page 18, They wanted me to be a priest, but I decided to become a shepherd. Here,
Santiago is responding to Melchizedek s thoughts on the world s greatest lie(which
is that we lose control of what happens to us at some point, and believe that fate
takes over). I think this illustrates a great example of how no matter what others may
insist, you ultimately have the choice to do what you wish. Santiago goes against his
parents (and possibly friends ) wishes to do something he wants. That s the thing
about your destiny‒ you ve got to make it yours or else it s no longer your destiny.
Walt Whitman writes in section five, ВЁWhoever denies me [gladness and
roughness] shall not trouble me, [and] whoever accepts me he or she shall be blessed
and shall bless me. Whitman states the fact that depending on how others react to
what you decide to do with yourself, that affects how they experience the results of
those choices. It s healthy to cut those who won t support you‒ after all, they ll just
drag you down and prevent you from achieving your goals. Surround yourselves with

Essay on A Standard Guide in Bond Investments
A Standard Guide in Bond Investments Millions of Americans are cautious as to how
they invest their money or where they should invest their money; whether it s to
invest in real estate, stocks, and mutual funds; or take a safer approach by choosing a
conservative options and invest in bonds. While establishing their financial planning,
most American chose to invest in stocks and mutual funds because of the potential in
hope of a larger return for their investment. Whereas, conservative bonds such as
government and corporate bonds offer lots of potential and investment growth in the
long run. Though there are risk and safety associated with many investments, the key

Conservative Investment Options: Bonds Why invest in Bonds? Corporate and
Government Bonds are no substitute for stocks, which in spite of the current
predicament in the market are probably still the best investment for the long haul.
However, bonds are a good option for the conservative investors. Bonds is a type of
security that functions like a loan, relatively in their best form are basically IOU s
receipts for money borrowed from the investor, they are issued by private companies,
municipalities, or government agencies. They bind the issuing organization to a
fixed amount on the maturity date, which is set when the instrument is issued
(Kiplinger s Personal Finance, 2003, p.1). Types of Government Bonds and Debt
Securities Bonds usually come in a variety of forms with each having its own
individual benefits, risks and tax considerations. Normally most bonds falls into four
general categories: corporate, government, government agencies and municipal
(Ameriprise, 2008). Meanwhile, government bonds are issued by the U.S. treasury
and backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government where they will repay
a specified amount of money, along with interest. Treasury Bills (T bill) is a short
term government security with maturities that are sold at a discount at their face

Realism In Saaam Bombay
Italian neorealism sought to portray the subject matter at hand truthfully and
without adding any sort of artistic touch. A cinematic movement dedicated to
portraying a post war Italy that was slumped into an economic and moral
depression. This portrayal is meant to highlight the general Italian psyche at the
time. And films of this movement typically reflect everyday life of the Italians
including poverty, oppression, injustice and desperation. What we perceive as
stories as an audience are everyday realities of the actors . In order to capture a
genuine sense of realism, the production of Salaam Bombay! (1988) took a unique
approach. Real street children of Bombay were gathered together and an account of
their lives was taken. The conducting of these interviews served to provide an
authentic insight into what would be the most appropriate stories to adapt. This
evolved into the screenplay, filled with realist episodic storylines across a range of
characters. A major theme in Salaam Bombay! (1988) is one of migratory identity.
This urban migration of the populace to cities created a sense of being lost in the

Why Death So Much It Feels More Like A Memory
I consider my own mortality quite often. There is a lyric in the musical Hamilton
that reads, I imagine death so much it feels more like a memory. When is it going
to get me? In my sleep, several feet ahead of me? I remember first hearing this lyric
and feeling that it was the only words outside of my own thoughts I had connected
with in a long while. Over the past few years, I have been forced to reckon with my
own mortality more than I believe useful. I have witnessed much deaththroughout
these past couple of years, and I have not always known what to do with it with the
grief, the sorrow, the loss, or the transience.
I constantly feel the impending doom that is my impermanence. I know death is a
part of life I am very painfully aware of this fact. I know that I will someday die,
but what is it that I will leave behind? Will I leave anything behind? I m a
filmmaker, a photographer, a musician I have projects that I am very proud of. But
the question still rings in my ears: Have I done anything valuable? And what does
the world consider valuable? Is their value the same as mine? I find that I do not
know how to shake these questions from my attentions.
I grew up in a Christian community, believing that if you were baptized and
maintained the Bible s standards, then you were saved and being saved meant
heaven after death. However, after one of my best friends passed away, I began to
question mortality, as well as death as a whole. Exactly how strict is
Essential Oils Persuasive Speech
If you have recently heard about the benefits of essential oils, then you might be
wondering where to buy essential oils? In fact, you might also be wondering whether
they can be purchased at the health food store. The truth is, you can buy them from
companies, health food stores and even online. However, before you actually
purchase them, there are several things you should consider.
Things to consider when buying essential oils
Before you find out where to buy these oils and start looking for them, there are two
things you will have to consider:
What do you want to use the oil for?
What grade of the oils do you need?
What will you use the Essential Oils for?
Along with finding out where to buy these oils, it is also important that you figure
out what you will be using them for. You can... Show more content on

So, make sure you always look more 100% pure essential oils.
What Grade of Essential Oil do you need?
It is recommended that you use only therapeutic grade essential oils that are 100%
pure if you intend to use the oils for your animals, children and your family. You will
also have to make sure that you are buying pure therapeutic oils if want to use the
oils for healing or alternate health practices.
No solvents are used when producing therapeutic grade oils, which are strictly
distilled and tested. Producing them is an expensive process so the number of high
quality suppliers is quite less. So, along with determining where to buy essential oils,
you should also make sure the ones you are buying are 100% pure and therapeutic
grade.
When you are in search of these oils, which company is reputable and the
availability of wholesale programs, are among the things you should consider. If you
intend to use a large volume every month, then you could save a lot of money
through a wholesale program. The benefits of these oils are quite evident these
Strengths And Weaknesses In Writing
My Strengths and Weaknesses in Writing In writing everybody has several
strengths and weaknesses. Often people find it easier to find their weaknesses
than their strengths. I am definitely fall into that category. After looking over my
reflection paper, I now know my strengths, weaknesses and what my goals should
be to improve. Even though I do not always feel like I have numerous strengths
with writing I actually do. I need to have more confidence in my strengths. One
strength that comes quite easily to me is using MLA format. It is actually quite
easy to have the correct format because I always have an MLA format template
accessible to me in Moodle. Another strength would be paragraph unity. A
paragraph should have one point and one point only, so there is no need for extra
information in a paragraph. In addition, I know how to write a solid conclusion. A
conclusion should briefly restate what was said in the body paragraphs and tie the
papertogether. Additionally, the conclusion paragraph should not leave the reader
hanging. Because of my reflection paper, I am now more aware of the strengths I do
have. Unfortunately, I had a much easier time finding my weaknesses. My biggest
challenge in writing is commausage, more specifically comma splices. For example,
when I wrote I was late, everyone had to do forty pushups, this is two complete
sentences. That sentence needed to be made into two sentences or use a sentence
combining technique. Another fault I have is that I use slang. For instance, I
used a bunch of, when several would have been a much more appropriate word
choice. I also need to use more effective transitions; this will help me sound less
choppy in my papers. Additionally, I need to improve my range of vocabulary in
my papers. The words got, things, I, and me are words that I should rarely or never
use in formal writing. Furthermore, I need to better my understanding of the semi
colon. For instance, I wrote Doing this first thing every Saturday morning was hard
work, however, I still enjoyed it. This is another example of a comma splice. I put a
comma where I should have put a semi colon. There are many grammar rules that I
do not fully understand. However, with hard work
Japanese Culture In The Last Samurai
For many years Japan isolated themselves from the world causing them to miss out
on benefits of the Industrial Revolution. Once Japan realized how far behind they
were in technology, they opened their gates to foreigners. This led the Boshin War, a
civil war between the remaining Samurais and the rest of the country pushing for a
more modern and foreign influenced country. The film the The Last Samuraidoes a
wonderful job depicting Japanese culture during the Boshin War. It shows how
Japanese manners, fighting methods, clothing, honor, and ultimately their entire way
of life is different from those in the U.S.
The contrast between the American soldier, Captain Nathan Algren, and Japanese
culture is apparent within the first 10 minutes of the film. While having a meeting
with Japanese men, his attitude towards them is very rude and disrespectful, there
clothes are much nicer, and their posture is perfect. The Japanese men immediately
pick up on this and comment on it. Other signs of bad manners include Americans
not understanding the cultural significance of bowing when greeting someone. The
scene where Algren walks into the home where he is staying and does not take his
shoes off is also very rude in Japan. The result is an awfully muddy floor.
In contrast there are actions that we would find rude in America that are not
considered rude in Japan. In one scene in the film, Taka is bringing groceries into the
home. Nathan attempts to help her and she states that Japanese
Technology In The Cold War Essay
Technologies of the Cold War Technologies played an important role in our lives
before and right now. The development of the science and technology promoted the
progress of the society. The wide spread of using electricity boosted economy around
the world; the invention of the telephone made people s communication become
easier; airplanes make people travel longer distances in shorter times. As same as
other time period in the history, during the Cold War, the great inventors from
different countries invented better weapons and things to make their country win the
war. Those new weapons and technologies changed the strategies used by the
commanders, the way the soldiers fight, and the form of the war. Technologies
certainly affect the war.
The Cold War period was a time that a lot of countries needed to develop their
science and technology. They needed new weapons to win the war, and their
commanders could not confine themselves with those old tactics that were already
known by their enemies. In order to win, lots of changes were made and they
affected not just the arms race and the space race, but also research in agriculture,
biomedicine, computer science, ecology, meteorology, and other fields. Many people

Hippocrates
In ancient Greek times, knowledge of herbs and other drugs to treat diseases started
earlier than what can be remembered. People used science to come up with ways to
treat illnesses and disease. The science of medicine was simply trial and error. For
plants, they would classify them based on utility and danger to determine if the plants
could be used for treatment. Besides plants, trepanation was a common procedure
done in the prehistoric times as treatment of head injuries. During this time, midwives
and healers were also fairly common. Later, during the the time of Aristotle,
incubation and bloodletting were common. Asclepios and Hippocrates were major
medical figures around this time.

Through therapeutics, Hippocrates aimed at the body s system building up a
natural resistance to fight off the disease. He focused on prescribing patients diet,
exercise, and hydrotherapy, to name a few. He would prescribe patients a very
light or liquid diet depending on if the person had a minor illness or more major
illness. Hippocrates was very conservative in prescribing medicine. Although
earlier medical professionals abused bloodletting, Hippocrates seldom used it.
When he did perform bloodletting, it was thought to reduce fire, or body
temperature of the person if they had a fever ( Hippocrates ). However, the most
common way to treat the imbalance of the humors was to attempt to rebalance
them. They would keep a patient warm with blankets if they had a cold, for
example. On the other hand, a patient with a fever would be given a place to rest
that was cold and dry. To treat a person with pneumonia, barley soup as well as
vinegar and honey would be given. This was to help the phlegm come up easier (

World War II took away many things from people; loved ones, homes, personal

a young girl she had to move to a completely different country. Annelies Marie Frank
had been born in 1929 in Frankfurt, Germany into a jewish family. ( Anne Frank

a writer. When Anne moved to Amsterdam she hoped to find a better life away
from Hitler. Which she did for seven years, until the Nazis took over the
Netherlands and started enforcing rules limiting the jews. In 1941 Anne and her
older sister switched schools because they were no longer allowed at non jewish
schools. They were also forced to wear the yellow star of david on any of their
clothes. The rules didn t stop their: jews were banned from almost all forms of

Pilot Fatigue Essay
Fatigue is a growing concern and issue in the aviation industry. Although it has been
for some time, recently mounting workloads and stress have factored into creating
an escalating problem with real casualties and repercussions. Pilot fatigue, heavy
workloads... may have contributed to an air ambulance crashing into the sea at night
during a medical mission... (Crash Blamed 2006 p.31). Fatigue is an insidious
condition that affects a pilot in a way that might make him feel justified in his
decisions. (Wald 2008 C3). Without realizing the effects of sleepiness and stress,
pilots often times make the wrong decision, believing it to be the right one, and

Many pilots commute to and from the airport where he/she is assigned. This isn t

his/her responsibility, is a stress inducer, which contributes more mental baggage that
the pilot must carry.
Industry Flaws Accentuate Stress/ Lack of Resources
System flaws account for scheduling issues. When there are not enough pilots to
cope with the heavy traffic flow, the same pilots are being scheduled more often
and for longer periods of time. CAPA has suggested lowering the actual duty time
of pilots to 12 hours in a 24 hour period, with a two hour window to account for
delays. The current 16 hours of duty time often makes it difficult for pilots to get an
actual 8 hours of rest in each 24 hour period. (82% of Americans...)

Explain How A Sound Source In Space Will Stimulate Two
Ears
A sound source in space will stimulate both ears. Experiments with headphones have
suggested that the side on which a source is heard depends on timing and intensity
differences at the two ears. A sound source on one side will stimulate the nearest ear
first, because the sound path to that ear is shorter. This cue is particularly important
for low frequency sounds, because with low frequency sounds, the phase differences
at the two ears produced by the difference in path length are unambiguous. The
intensity at the nearest earwill also be greater, because the farther ear is shadowed by
the head. Localization depending only on these binaural cues lead to potential
ambiguities, because they do not give information on the elevation of a soundsource,
or whether the source is in front of or behind the head. Information on these is
contributed by the pinna, which for high frequency sounds produces further shadows
and reflections. The cues from the pinna also mean that some localization is possible
when using only one ear.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the model of Jeffress, this is detected by the input from one ear being compared
with multiple time shifted versions of the input from the other ear. The time shift that
produces the maximum degree of similarity indicates the direction of the sound

produced by axons of different lengths. The output neurons detect coincidence in the
time shifted inputs from the two
The Ambiguity Of Gender In The Poetry Of Robert Herrick
Robert Herrick wrote hundreds of poems about real or imagined women. It is
generally conceded that his many fresh and fragrant mistresses were purely
imaginary, but understanding how he constructs gender is vital in developing an
accurate view of his poetic art. Modern criticism often depicts Herrick as a
propagandist for the received standards of his day, yet close examination of his texts
reveals that he recognized the ambiguities of genderand the inconsistencies of his era
s beliefs pertaining to women, disrupted and interrogated them, and often engaged in
outright parodic critique of accepted seventeenth century gender mores. The stance
Herrick takes in relation to gender issues is rooted in the double coding of female
presence that

First, my overhead would be minimal so cost of my service would best serve the

However, since my service could be considered a short term service with a high

additional fees would go like this: $25 for the first month up to 25 calls
$45 for two months up to 50 calls $70 for three months up to 75 calls $125 for six

Geography And Geography Of Portugal
Portugal
Portugal is a beautiful country that occupies about a sixth of the Iberian peninsula.
The location and geography of portugal caused a major factor in cultural
adaptations. The northwest is lush, green, densely populated, and the major source of
immigrants. The northeast is more mountainous and is divided into a northern region
with long cold winters and a warmer region to the south. The central part of portugal
varies from high and desolate mountain plateaus to low coastal areas. The capital of
Portugal is Lisbon, located on a number of hills on the northern shore of the Tagus
River estuary. Portugal until about the 1960 s was mainly rural. In 1930, 80 percent
of the population lived in rural villages, and thirty years later, 77 percent of the
population was still rural. Since 1960, urbanization has been fueled by extensive
internal migration from the countryside to the cities, but only 35.8 of the population
was defined as urban in 1996.
In 1999, the population of continental and island Portugal was estimated at 9.9
million. The population increased until the 1960s, when it declined by more than
200,000 as a result of emigration to northern Europe. In the 1970s, the population
rose by more than a quarter million as retornados returned from Africa after
decolonization. Portugal has been receiving immigrants, primarily from former
overseas territories such as the Cape Verde Islands. This immigrant population, which
has settled primarily in the greater Lisbon area,
Evaluation Of A Teacher Student Relationship
Linda Albert (2012) mentions for students to experience a strong sense of belonging
in school, they must satisfy Cooperative Discipline s Three Cs . The Three Cs are
Capable, Connect, and Contribute. Three factors affect students ability to satisfy the
Three Cs in the classroom: the quality of the teacher student relationship; the strength
of the classroom climate for success; and the appropriateness of the classroom
structure (Albert, 2012). The best way to satisfy the Three Cs through the use of
encouragement strategies. If we are positive and encouraging, people do betterwhen
they feel better, and that which people perceive affects the way they feel. For
example, if you receive a compliment, then a positive feelingemerges (Marshall,
2005). The first C is helping students feel Capable. When students feel good about
themselves they have fulfilled the feeling of capable. As teachers, Linda Albert
mentioned different encouragement techniques to help students reach their full
potential. Linda made her techniques into five major strategies: make mistakes
okay, build confidence, focus on past successes, make learning tangible, and
recognize achievement. I make sure I implement her strategies into my classroom.
For instance, I show students that I make mistakes all the time and it is okay if they
do to. Also I tell the students if they mistake in the lab, that it s okay, that s why I am
here to help you . To build confidence, I make sure I focus on their improvements
The First Year Writing Program
Throughout the semester, the first year writing program gave students the privilege
to become improved writers. Students received the opportunity to identify their
strengths and weaknesses and come to a conclusion on what makes favorable
writing. While writing the assigned essays this semester, I realized being able to
read and write about something that is relatable is extremely critical. When an
individual can relate to what they are reading, they will be more engaged compared
to reading a piece that fails to connect to them. Although the first year writing
program succeeded in building up betterwriters, there is always room for
improvement. The program could consider new pieces of work and content that is
recent that students can form an opinion on and relate to.
While writing, individuals should always keep in mind, honesty, personal
experience, and sending a message. Incorporating these values into a paper results
in a piece of writing that is relatable and clear to understand. Personal experience
and examples provide a reasonable amount of evidence for a reader. This will show
that the topic being written about can happen and impact any individual. Also,
honesty is crucial when wanting to make a point about the topic being written about.
Writing that sends a message is essential due to the fact that the reader can identify
that the author is writing for a purpose and wants the reader to take away a lesson or
idea from reading that piece.

OPERATION ANACONDA: JOINT OPERATION PLANNING ERRORS
Joint Operations After the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the Twin Towers,
the United States (US) declared a global war on terrorism. Afghanistan was the first
battleground with Operation ENDURING FREEDOM; US forces engaged enemy
combatants in effort to deter, isolate and destroy, terrorist networks. In the early
stages, unified land operations consisted mostly of special operation forces (SOF)
with support of the US Airforce, US Navy, allies and Afghan Security Forces (ASF).
This early collation was a joint effort that proved successful during the early phases of
the operation. Engagement of enemy forces successfully deterred their operational
capabilities and efforts that pushed enemy forces into Shahi Kot Valley. This
concentration of enemy forces in Shahi Kot Valley fostered the development of
Operation ANACONDA, a joint, interagency, intergovernmental, multinational
(JIIM) operation. The joint operations planning process (JOPP), employed during the
operational design failed to achieve the desired combat power necessary for
successful shaping operations and decisive action.
Challenges Gathering Accurate Intelligence The Combined Joint Task Force(CJTF)

Operation Anaconda. In early 2002, CJTF Mountain initiated the joint
The Book Thief By Markus Zusak
Words can influence the mind in many ways that thought may not be able to. They
are carefully placed and shared in different ways by each and every individual.
Words have powerful impacts and can majorly impact how one may think, feel, or
even lead others to feel. Written by Markus Zusak, The Book Thief describes a story
of an innocent foster girl, Liesel Meminger, who resides in Munich, Germany at one
of the most troubling time periods in history, Nazi Germany. A tale narrated by the
one and only Death himself, shows the perspective from his point of view, as well
as others, describing how Liesel had been seized away from her birth mother at a
young age, and put into a foster family. Her new family, the Hubermanns. As she
matures and grows into a more critical thinker, understanding and analyzing
everything that carefully happens around her. Her foster father, Hans guides her
and teaches her how to read, which little does she know sparks her journey, the art
of stealing books. Liesel soon discovers that words aren t simply lines on a page,
they are strong emotions packed into a form that merely is held in her delicate
hands. Not only did she hold the pages of emotion, she held a power, a dangerous
weapon of words, a weapon of control, and every book that she had stolen was
giving her unimaginable power that made her think in ways that she would ve never
thought she could have. As with Nazi propaganda, and a gift that enabled her to
broaden her worldview. Liesel evolves

Draw the dipole moment of the chair and boat configuration. Which of those
structures will dissolve better in water and why?
Ans. Chair conformer of cyclohexane has negligible dipole moment due to
symmetry and equal charge distribution. On the other hand Boat conformation of
cyclohexane has dipole moment due to the shape of the conformer making it polar
due to charge distribution and steric effects. BOAT CONFORMER (Note: Grey
spheres are C atoms and Blue spheres are H atoms)
Hence the boat conformer is able to dissolve in water but stabilizes soon and turns
into the chair conformer making it non polar and separating it from water.
How many different configurations of Fluoro cyclohexane exist? Draw structures but
do not minimize in Gaussian.
Ans. Dipole moments of Fluoro Cyclohexane have increased by a factor of 611.6 as
compared to cyclohexane.
This explains how the presence of a single fluoride atom instead of a hydrogen
impacts the structure and charge distribution of the cyclic hydrocarbon. In turn
adding a Fluoride atom also increases the energy of the cyclic hydrocarbon creating
less stable structures in boat, twist and half chair increasing О”G and decreasing the

Music. Long ago, it was nothing but a symphony of Neanderthals banging random
objects together and no one knows exactly where it originated from or who created
it. However, what we do know is that we have so much to thank them for. Of
course, music has heavily evolved from cavemen beating rocks together loudly and
out of tune. In fact, music has become a major piece within the vast foundation of
America s culture. Looking back during the time of swing music, classic rock, 70s

Similarly, Ajuluchukwu 1962 (as cited in Onwuejeogwu, 1991) note that from the
inception, the National Union of Nigerian Students (NUNS) embarked upon
deliberate campaigns of fostering national consciousness and inspiring a strong sense
of militancy in the Nigerian people s liberation struggle (Aluede, 1995; Babatope,
1974). Babatope (1974) and Onwuejeogwu (1991) note that the students union was
born and nurtured in the womb of colonial protest. Hence student unionism was more
of a protest union rather than student union, which was aimed at far reaching changes
in the society. One incident of student unrest in 1960 was essentially due to students
dissatisfaction with government insensitivity to national issues, and its inability to
address them appropriately. Nigerian students aware of the British government s
intention to establish a military base in Nigeria and by so doing perpetuate a neo
colonial state, decided to stage a protest against the

The Necessary Qualities Of A Good Democratic Citizen
Essay
The necessary qualities of a good democratic citizen require an individual to
recognize an injustice within the law, actively oppose that law, and to do so
regardless if that unjust law affects the citizen personally. Rousseau, Emerson, and
Douglass all agree that freedom and equality are natural rights endowed to all
humans. However the three authors diverge in consensus when envisioning the
necessary qualities of a good democratic citizen, such as the position from which each
author is theorizing, a citizen s obligation to the state, and the moral implications of
slavery. Douglass s view of a good democratic citizen is superior because, unlike
Rousseau and Emerson, Douglass is able to theorize from the position of a free
black man and is therefore able to recognize the intersections of race and inequality
within the law and politics.
Rousseau is theorizing from the concept of the general will, which promotes
individuals to become conscious citizens who actively participate as a community
to form policies for a governing structure. The general will advocates for a
commitment to generality, a common interest that will unite all citizens for the
benefit of all. Rousseau states, each one of us puts into the community his person
and all his powers under the supreme direction of the general will; and as a body, we
incorporate every member as an indivisible part of the whole (Rousseau 61). The
general will is an expression of the law that is superior to an individual s
Ghost In The Shell Erasure
Ghost in the Shell, Iron Fist, Death Note, Doctor Strange, and many others like them
have this in common: Erasure of Asian Americans. Whitewashing isn t a new
phenomenon in film/tv; however, they all contribute to the basic issue of erasure. In
Ghost in the Shell, a white woman plays Japanese character s role. The same
happens in Death Note, Doctor Strange, and Iron Fist where a white actor is put in
place of an Asian role, filling the shoes of a culturally insensitive, white savior based,
orientalist role.
What this erasure does is remove Asian American characters and actors from film
and TV shows. As a result, people are unable to see us in these mediums. Characters
that would provide an opportunity for audiences to see an Asian American... Show

These responses are used as a justification for the casting choices being made. They
attempt to silence those of us who have problems with them by pointing to some
other group as being more of an authority than we are. With Ghost in the Shell, people
point to an interview with the Anime s original director, Mamoru Oshii, to counter
whitewashing critiques. This leads to the identity erasure issue at the heart of this
problem for me.
I m an Asian American; specifically, I m a 4th generation, mixed race, Japanese
American. The problem with response 1 is it attempts to erase my Asian identity.
By saying, Japanese people in Japan don t have a problem with Scar Jo in Ghost in
the Shell, what people are actually saying is REAL Asians don t care . This
response erases my Asian identity by saying I m not ACTUALLY Asian because if
I were, then I wouldn t care. Now, let s ignore the problematic nature of this
response in that it groups ALL Japanese people into holding a single opinion which,
obviously, is not true. Let s also ignore the problem that this response conflates the
Japanese cultural experience with the Japanese American cultural experience, which
is not at all the same. However, the harm from this response comes from saying that
I m not Asian enough. If I was more Japanese, like those living in Japan, I wouldn t

Important Events in the European History That Changed
the...
Essay 3 The changes are an integral part of progress and development. It is a well
known fact that in order to gain a new level the society should go through the series
of different transformation. These transformations are not always pleasant and
peaceful but, in general, they are useful for the society and help it to become a
better one. In this work I am going to explain how, the European world changed
dramatically as a result of a series of stresses in the late 13th to the mid 15th
centuries and how such events as Black Plague, the One Hundred Year s War and
the collapse of Papal Power influenced the Medieval European society. The
transformation of the Medieval society was long and painful process, which lasted

The second effect was lack of laborers. The level of trust to the Church also
decreased. The One Hundred Years War was another historical even, which influenced
on the society in the Middle Ages. It was a long struggle between England and France
over succession to the French throne. It lasted from 1337 to 1453, so it might more
accurately be called the 116 Years War (Wheeler, The Hundred Years War ).
Actually, it was the series of smaller wars and included several battles. The war
involved two countries, England and France, which were among the leading ones in
Europe during the Middle Ages. Nothing special, that such a massive struggle, which
involved a large amount of people during the extremely long period of time, resulted
into the drastic demographic, economical and political changes. England lost most of
its continental territories and the insanity of the King brought it into the series of
internal conflicts. On the contrary, France was able to strengthen its positions. The
third important point, which initiated the changes in the European society and
brought it to the new era of development, was the collapse of Papal Power. In the
Middle Ages the belief that there is one Pope, who rules the church, was extremely
strong. That is why the division of the Papacy into the two ruling points, one in
Avignon, France and one in Rome was a great tragedy for many people as

Phonemic Awareness Assessment
Data In completing the CAP, I administered the Phonemic Awareness Skills
Screener (PASS) to five of my seven students in my summer middle school English
class. The results of the assessment are attached in the submission of the document.
In looking at the raw data that I collected on my student s phonemic awareness
skills the area that every student needed to work on was phoneme segmentation or
phoneme deletion. Since I was working with a very small class size and a very
limited time frame, I grouped all five of the students that I assessed in one small
group. This worked nicely because student scored low in one or both phoneme
segmentation and phoneme deletion, which is an area of phonemic awareness that
could be practiced using Elkonin boxes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I started the lesson by explaining the activity and the purpose of lesson. I modeled
how to sound out each phoneme in the word using three model words. I showed
students how to push in a token for each phoneme in the word. By the second
example, my students were already trying to do it with and following successfully.
The third example ended up being guided practiced where we all did the third
example as a group. Then students completed the other ten words independently.
Each student would push their tokens while saying the word, and then would check
their answer with everyone at the table. If a student missed a sound, I would model
how it the word was supposed to sound. For example, my two Spanish speaking
students did not realize the sh in ship was one sound, and then we discussed how in
Spanish that phoneme does not exist and we practiced saying it as a group. Some of
the students thought the activity was fun, some were a little bored with

The Importance Of Taking A Stand In History
The topic we chose for our National History Day project was animal liberation. This
not only has a special place in our interests and beliefs but in many other peoples all
around the globe. One by one, people are starting to understand that animals are
important creatures too and not just here on this Earth for our own selfish use.
Finally, we as people, are trying to do something about it by taking a stand. So,
there are definitely many valuable reasons why this movement is important to us
and several other individuals. We got the ideas for this topic from the clear fact
that animals in today s world are just not treated correctly. Every single day,
countless creatures are abused, neglected, and we decided we wanted to speak up
for them. According to the ASPCA organization, 2.7 million animals come into an
animal shelter abused and frightened every year. Since they cannot form words
themselves, we as people need to know when they need help from us. Yet, some of
us cruelly do the complete opposite. Leaving a poor dog outside in the frigid
temperatures or laying a hand on an animal are just a few examples of what some
horrid people... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We all wish they could tell us exactly what they want exactly when they need it.
But that is not the case. In reality, they just hope we can understand their body

different, helpful ways. Some are becoming vegan or vegetarian to support their
beliefs and some are speaking in public places to spread their much needed word. As
of 2014, 16 million people had become vegan or vegetarian to help support the rights
of animals. This topic is important in history because without these animal liberation
movements, they would still be treated as a product on a grocery store shelf and not

Why Did The Watergate Scandal
In the early 1970 s, President Richard Milhous Nixon was a popular president
among many people in the United States. However, he managed to change the view
of the American government for the worse. Stealing documents from his rival
party, covering up his actions over and over again. And finally getting caught of his
actions, a distrust of their government by their citizens was created. But how had it
occurred? Why did Nixon do this? Why did he cover it up over and over again?
What steps and actions had led to Nixon s resignation? Because of the Watergate
Scandal, the American citizens understood that the American Government can be
deceiving to its citizens.
It all started on June 17, 1972. Five men had been arrested at 2:30 AM in the
Watergate Hotel (Lewis). At that time, Watergate was the location of the offices of
the Democratic National Committee (The Watergate Story). The five men, Frank A
Sturgis, Eugenio R. Martinez, Virgilio Gonzalez, Bernard L. Barker, and James W.

Lena Dunham Women
In today s society, turning off has become nearly an impossible task. As beneficial as
modern technological advancements are, they have made our world fast paced and
constantly interconnected. Emails, Snapchats and tweets, just to name a few, are sent

them and take some time for themselves. Moreover, these advancements contribute
to society s push to say yes constantly; yes to opting to do more work, and yes to
responding to notifications immediately. Celebrity Lena Dunham, however, is
protesting this aspect of society. She has decided to make use of the word no more
often in 2016, and encourages women in the working world to do the same. Dunham
explains that the cycle of working, compromising relationships with others and
continuing to work more has caused her to suffer greatly. She feels that the need to
always be in tune with the world pushes and pushes people until they, essentially,
crack. In hopes of resolving this, she is urging women to take their own happiness
more into account. Therefore, along with the use of the word no, Dunham raises the

9.4% and the WACC is determined to be 9.14% at the 9.5% debt rate. In addition to
the estimation of the cost of equity, Star Appliance Company is also considering
increasing their current debt ratio of 9.5% to the industry ... Show more content on

To calculate the new cost of equity for Star, the risk free rate is added to the
product of the beta and the risk premium. Star s new cost of equity is 9.4%
(Appendix A). Given that the cost of equity is 9.4% and the cost of debt is 12.2%,
Star s cost of capital can be calculated as 9.14% (Appendix B). The company was
also considering raising the cost of debt to the industry average of 19%. At this
cost of debt, Star Company would have a lower cost of capital of 8.24% (Appendix
B) because interest on debt capital is deductible whereas dividend payments on
equity capital are not. At the new WACC of 19%, the home appliance and
agricultural machinery projects are valued based on their inherent levels of risk.
The beta of the industry average home appliance project is 0.95, whereas the beta
for the industry average agricultural machine project is calculated as 0.88. CAPM
was then employed to find the cost of capital of each project. The cost of capital
for the home appliance and agricultural machinery projects were found to be 10.4%
and 9.92%, respectively (Appendix B). This analysis allows Star Company to
allocate funds to projects that create returns greater than the industry cost of capital
for each specific project. The IRR of the home appliance project is 11.29% and the
IRR of the agricultural machinery project is 10.70%, which are both greater than the
calculated cost of capitals. Therefore, in
Physics Of Skiing Physics
Physics is a very important aspect to how the world functions. It is also vital to
understanding skiing. Skiing is the act of traveling on top of snow on long blades
called skis that are attached to the feet. There are many different types of skiing such
as alpine skiing, nordic skiing, ski jumping, and aerial skiing. Each of these are
unique in their own way when it comes to how it is impacted by physics.
The most common type of skiing is downhill skiing, or otherwise known as alpine
skiing. The skier must be very agile and be able to make quick turns while going at
fast speed. In order to do this they must obtain momentum by turning potential energy
into kinetic energy. This is a relationship between work and energy. The person

Mass affects the force of gravity directly; the greater the force of gravity, the
greater the velocity. The normal force is the force of the ground on the skis. It is
opposite in direction of the force of gravity, but has the same magnitude. The force
of kinetic friction acts in the opposite direction of the skier s movement. It is a
fancy name for what was mentioned in the previous paragraph about friction
between the skis and snow. Lastly, the drag force is the air resistance acting in the
opposite direction of the skier s movement. Again, this was stated in the prior
paragraph. The forces explain why skis move the way they

Summary
The (UML) Unified Modeling Language is a general purpose modeling language in
the field of software application design, which is developed to supply a
conventional means to envision the design of a system. It was produced and
created by James Rumbaugh, Ivar Jacobson and Grady Booch at Rational Software
during 1994 95 with additional advancement led by them with 1996. In 1997 it was
embraced as a basic by the (OMG) Object Management Group, and has actually been
handled by this company since. In 2000 the Unified Modeling Language was likewise
approved by the (ISO) International Organization for Standardization as an authorized
ISO specification. Ever since it has actually been regularly modified ... Show more

The timeline reveals the highlights of the past of object oriented modeling techniques
and symbols. It is initially based upon the notations of the Booch approach, the
(OMT) Object modeling method and (OOSE) Object oriented software engineering,
which it has actually incorporated into a solitary language.
UML 2. X
Apparently, the UML 2.0 significant modification switched out version 1.5 in 2005,
which was created by a bigger consortium to boost the language further to mirror
brand new experience on the use of its attributes. Even if UML 2.1 was never ever
launched as an official requirement, versions 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 showed up in 2007,
adhered to by UML 2.2 in February 2009. UML 2.3 was officially launched in May
2010. UML 2.4.1 was officially released in August 2011. UML 2.5 was launched in
October 2012 as a Present version and has yet to come to be formally launched.
There are 4 parts of the UML 2. X spec:.
The Facilities that define the core meta model on which the Superstructure is based
The (OCL) Object Constraint Language for specifying guidelines for model
aspects
The UML Layout Interchange that specifies exactly how UML 2 diagram formats
are exchanged
The Superstructure that specifies the symbols and semiotics for diagrams and
their design components
The existing versions of these criteria comply with
UML Superstructure

  • 1. Tradition Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "Tradition" can be both a fascinating exploration and a daunting challenge. The difficulty lies in the vastness and diversity of traditions across cultures, time periods, and social contexts. The concept of tradition encompasses customs, beliefs, rituals, and practices that are passed down through generations, making it a complex and multifaceted subject. One of the challenges in writing such an essay is the need to strike a balance between providing a comprehensive overview and delving into specific aspects. It requires careful research to understand the historical, cultural, and societal influences that shape traditions. Additionally, navigating through the intricate interplay of tradition with modernity poses a challenge, as some traditions evolve or face resistance in contemporary settings. The essay should not merely serve as a descriptive account but should engage critically with the concept of tradition. Analyzing its role in shaping identities, preserving cultural heritage, or even perpetuating inequalities requires a nuanced approach. Furthermore, addressing the dynamic nature of traditions, where some endure while others fade away, adds another layer of complexity. Structuring the essay to present a coherent narrative and argument is another aspect that demands attention. Balancing between providing context, offering insightful analysis, and maintaining the reader's interest can be a delicate task. The essay should seamlessly transition between discussing the theoretical aspects of tradition and providing real-world examples to illustrate key points. In conclusion, composing an essay on the topic of "Tradition" necessitates a thoughtful and meticulous approach. It involves navigating through the vast landscape of cultural practices, historical legacies, and contemporary dynamics. • 3. Why A Champion Is Someone Who Makes A Positive Change I believe that a champion is someone who makes a positive change in society. I enjoy bringing happiness to people s lives and doing community service makes me feel like I can accomplish this. Community service is not just about giving back; it is also about building your own character. In seventh grade, I decided to start helping the community. When I was in seventh grade, I decided that I really wanted to find a way to help children who are sick. I learned that not all families can provide enough support to even live in a private home. Some families must stay in Ronald McDonald House for long periods of time when their child is in the hospital. I felt that, as a kid who was healthy, I wanted to help other kids in unfavorable conditions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This day was great for me because I truly felt blessed to have accomplished something for the community.. The moment I had finished pouring the tabs into the recycling bin, I felt like all those years of collecting were validated because I was successful in reaching my goal. The money exchanged for the pull tabs supports the Ronald McDonald House mission of providing a Home Away From Home for critically ill children and their families throughout the Rio Grande Valley. At the time I donated the pull tabs, ninety percent of families did not have the financial resources to contribute the $10 per night that is asked of them to consider paying. My efforts were recognizable and I hope that many people start their own activities and fundraisers that can benefit society and the world in a positive way. This activity did not just make me a great community service helper. It made me a leader and a better person because I was able to influence others to help the cause. In doing so, I know that in the next few years, many families will have access to stay in the Ronald McDonald House in Harlingen, Texas. I am honored to have demonstrated the community good will that the Ronald McDonald organization appreciates. After eighth grade, I started cycling which allowed me to enjoy exercising, be a positive role model for others, and donate money to the community for various causes. The effort required for cycling is higher
  • 4. The Alchemist And Walt Whitman s Journey Paulo Coehlo and Walt Whitman both use their works ВЁThe Alchemist and ВЁSong of the Open RoadВЁ to portray you embarking on a life fulfilling journey. It s true, that s what life does. It makes you cry and laugh and think and stop, sometimes. It s all about the experience. Journeys try everything you are willing to give and both of these authorЕ› works show that destiny, while inevitable, can be bent to accommodate your desires. The world can, and sometimes will, affect how your life will turn out and what you do with it. It can change the outcomes of your choices and change you as a person in general. People shape you. They nurture you and they make you who you are. You think, Oh, that person doesn t influence me at all. All of my decisions are of my own merit. I say that s foolish to believe, because you d be surprised how much and how many people impact your daily life. But, when you re trying to live out your dreams, is it really a good idea for them to have a significant influence on you? Don t misunderstand, you can always take advice(and do so with grace), but sometimes, some things are better left alone in your hands. Paulo Coelho writes on page 18, They wanted me to be a priest, but I decided to become a shepherd. Here, Santiago is responding to Melchizedek s thoughts on the world s greatest lie(which is that we lose control of what happens to us at some point, and believe that fate takes over). I think this illustrates a great example of how no matter what others may insist, you ultimately have the choice to do what you wish. Santiago goes against his parents (and possibly friends ) wishes to do something he wants. That s the thing about your destiny‒ you ve got to make it yours or else it s no longer your destiny. Walt Whitman writes in section five, ВЁWhoever denies me [gladness and roughness] shall not trouble me, [and] whoever accepts me he or she shall be blessed and shall bless me. Whitman states the fact that depending on how others react to what you decide to do with yourself, that affects how they experience the results of those choices. It s healthy to cut those who won t support you‒ after all, they ll just drag you down and prevent you from achieving your goals. Surround yourselves with people who are willing to help you fulfil your destiny and educate you on what pursuing it

  • 6. Realism In Saaam Bombay Italian neorealism sought to portray the subject matter at hand truthfully and without adding any sort of artistic touch. A cinematic movement dedicated to portraying a post war Italy that was slumped into an economic and moral depression. This portrayal is meant to highlight the general Italian psyche at the time. And films of this movement typically reflect everyday life of the Italians including poverty, oppression, injustice and desperation. What we perceive as stories as an audience are everyday realities of the actors . In order to capture a genuine sense of realism, the production of Salaam Bombay! (1988) took a unique approach. Real street children of Bombay were gathered together and an account of their lives was taken. The conducting of these interviews served to provide an authentic insight into what would be the most appropriate stories to adapt. This evolved into the screenplay, filled with realist episodic storylines across a range of characters. A major theme in Salaam Bombay! (1988) is one of migratory identity. This urban migration of the populace to cities created a sense of being lost in the crowd which was depicted cinematically... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. Why Death So Much It Feels More Like A Memory I consider my own mortality quite often. There is a lyric in the musical Hamilton that reads, I imagine death so much it feels more like a memory. When is it going to get me? In my sleep, several feet ahead of me? I remember first hearing this lyric and feeling that it was the only words outside of my own thoughts I had connected with in a long while. Over the past few years, I have been forced to reckon with my own mortality more than I believe useful. I have witnessed much deaththroughout these past couple of years, and I have not always known what to do with it with the grief, the sorrow, the loss, or the transience. I constantly feel the impending doom that is my impermanence. I know death is a part of life I am very painfully aware of this fact. I know that I will someday die, but what is it that I will leave behind? Will I leave anything behind? I m a filmmaker, a photographer, a musician I have projects that I am very proud of. But the question still rings in my ears: Have I done anything valuable? And what does the world consider valuable? Is their value the same as mine? I find that I do not know how to shake these questions from my attentions. I grew up in a Christian community, believing that if you were baptized and maintained the Bible s standards, then you were saved and being saved meant heaven after death. However, after one of my best friends passed away, I began to question mortality, as well as death as a whole. Exactly how strict is

  • 9. Strengths And Weaknesses In Writing My Strengths and Weaknesses in Writing In writing everybody has several strengths and weaknesses. Often people find it easier to find their weaknesses than their strengths. I am definitely fall into that category. After looking over my reflection paper, I now know my strengths, weaknesses and what my goals should be to improve. Even though I do not always feel like I have numerous strengths with writing I actually do. I need to have more confidence in my strengths. One strength that comes quite easily to me is using MLA format. It is actually quite easy to have the correct format because I always have an MLA format template accessible to me in Moodle. Another strength would be paragraph unity. A paragraph should have one point and one point only, so there is no need for extra information in a paragraph. In addition, I know how to write a solid conclusion. A conclusion should briefly restate what was said in the body paragraphs and tie the papertogether. Additionally, the conclusion paragraph should not leave the reader hanging. Because of my reflection paper, I am now more aware of the strengths I do have. Unfortunately, I had a much easier time finding my weaknesses. My biggest challenge in writing is commausage, more specifically comma splices. For example, when I wrote I was late, everyone had to do forty pushups, this is two complete sentences. That sentence needed to be made into two sentences or use a sentence combining technique. Another fault I have is that I use slang. For instance, I used a bunch of, when several would have been a much more appropriate word choice. I also need to use more effective transitions; this will help me sound less choppy in my papers. Additionally, I need to improve my range of vocabulary in my papers. The words got, things, I, and me are words that I should rarely or never use in formal writing. Furthermore, I need to better my understanding of the semi colon. For instance, I wrote Doing this first thing every Saturday morning was hard work, however, I still enjoyed it. This is another example of a comma splice. I put a comma where I should have put a semi colon. There are many grammar rules that I do not fully understand. However, with hard work
  • 10. Japanese Culture In The Last Samurai For many years Japan isolated themselves from the world causing them to miss out on benefits of the Industrial Revolution. Once Japan realized how far behind they were in technology, they opened their gates to foreigners. This led the Boshin War, a civil war between the remaining Samurais and the rest of the country pushing for a more modern and foreign influenced country. The film the The Last Samuraidoes a wonderful job depicting Japanese culture during the Boshin War. It shows how Japanese manners, fighting methods, clothing, honor, and ultimately their entire way of life is different from those in the U.S. The contrast between the American soldier, Captain Nathan Algren, and Japanese culture is apparent within the first 10 minutes of the film. While having a meeting with Japanese men, his attitude towards them is very rude and disrespectful, there clothes are much nicer, and their posture is perfect. The Japanese men immediately pick up on this and comment on it. Other signs of bad manners include Americans not understanding the cultural significance of bowing when greeting someone. The scene where Algren walks into the home where he is staying and does not take his shoes off is also very rude in Japan. The result is an awfully muddy floor. In contrast there are actions that we would find rude in America that are not considered rude in Japan. In one scene in the film, Taka is bringing groceries into the home. Nathan attempts to help her and she states that Japanese

People used science to come up with ways to treat illnesses and disease. The science of medicine was simply trial and error. Besides plants, trepanation was a common procedure done in the prehistoric times as treatment of head injuries. During this time, midwives and healers were also fairly common. Although earlier medical professionals abused bloodletting, Hippocrates seldom used it. When he did perform bloodletting, it was thought to reduce fire, or body temperature of the person if they had a fever ( Hippocrates ). However, the most common way to treat the imbalance of the humors was to attempt to rebalance them. They would keep a patient warm with blankets if they had a cold, for example. • 19. Explain How A Sound Source In Space Will Stimulate Two Ears A sound source in space will stimulate both ears. Experiments with headphones have suggested that the side on which a source is heard depends on timing and intensity differences at the two ears. A sound source on one side will stimulate the nearest ear first, because the sound path to that ear is shorter. This cue is particularly important for low frequency sounds, because with low frequency sounds, the phase differences at the two ears produced by the difference in path length are unambiguous. The intensity at the nearest earwill also be greater, because the farther ear is shadowed by the head. Localization depending only on these binaural cues lead to potential ambiguities, because they do not give information on the elevation of a soundsource, or whether the source is in front of or behind the head. Information on these is contributed by the pinna, which for high frequency sounds produces further shadows and reflections. The stance Herrick takes in relation to gender issues is rooted in the double coding of female presence that

  • 22. Geography And Geography Of Portugal Portugal Portugal is a beautiful country that occupies about a sixth of the Iberian peninsula. The location and geography of portugal caused a major factor in cultural adaptations. The northwest is lush, green, densely populated, and the major source of immigrants. The northeast is more mountainous and is divided into a northern region with long cold winters and a warmer region to the south. The central part of portugal varies from high and desolate mountain plateaus to low coastal areas. The capital of Portugal is Lisbon, located on a number of hills on the northern shore of the Tagus River estuary. Portugal until about the 1960 s was mainly rural. In 1930, 80 percent of the population lived in rural villages, and thirty years later, 77 percent of the population was still rural. Since 1960, urbanization has been fueled by extensive internal migration from the countryside to the cities, but only 35.8 of the population was defined as urban in 1996. In 1999, the population of continental and island Portugal was estimated at 9.9 million. The population increased until the 1960s, when it declined by more than 200,000 as a result of emigration to northern Europe. In the 1970s, the population rose by more than a quarter million as retornados returned from Africa after decolonization. Portugal has been receiving immigrants, primarily from former overseas territories such as the Cape Verde Islands. This immigrant population, which has settled primarily in the greater Lisbon area,
  • 23. Evaluation Of A Teacher Student Relationship Linda Albert (2012) mentions for students to experience a strong sense of belonging in school, they must satisfy Cooperative Discipline s Three Cs . The Three Cs are Capable, Connect, and Contribute. Three factors affect students ability to satisfy the Three Cs in the classroom: the quality of the teacher student relationship; the strength of the classroom climate for success; and the appropriateness of the classroom structure (Albert, 2012). The best way to satisfy the Three Cs through the use of encouragement strategies. If we are positive and encouraging, people do betterwhen they feel better, and that which people perceive affects the way they feel. For example, if you receive a compliment, then a positive feelingemerges (Marshall, 2005). The first C is helping students feel Capable. When students feel good about themselves they have fulfilled the feeling of capable. As teachers, Linda Albert mentioned different encouragement techniques to help students reach their full potential. Linda made her techniques into five major strategies: make mistakes okay, build confidence, focus on past successes, make learning tangible, and recognize achievement. I make sure I implement her strategies into my classroom. For instance, I show students that I make mistakes all the time and it is okay if they do to. Also I tell the students if they mistake in the lab, that it s okay, that s why I am here to help you . To build confidence, I make sure I focus on their improvements
  • 24. The First Year Writing Program Throughout the semester, the first year writing program gave students the privilege to become improved writers. Students received the opportunity to identify their strengths and weaknesses and come to a conclusion on what makes favorable writing. While writing the assigned essays this semester, I realized being able to read and write about something that is relatable is extremely critical. When an individual can relate to what they are reading, they will be more engaged compared to reading a piece that fails to connect to them. Although the first year writing program succeeded in building up betterwriters, there is always room for improvement. The program could consider new pieces of work and content that is recent that students can form an opinion on and relate to. While writing, individuals should always keep in mind, honesty, personal experience, and sending a message. Incorporating these values into a paper results in a piece of writing that is relatable and clear to understand. Personal experience and examples provide a reasonable amount of evidence for a reader. This will show that the topic being written about can happen and impact any individual. Also, honesty is crucial when wanting to make a point about the topic being written about. Writing that sends a message is essential due to the fact that the reader can identify that the author is writing for a purpose and wants the reader to take away a lesson or idea from reading that piece. Incidentally, my goals

Aceves OPERATION ANACONDA: JOINT OPERATION PLANNING ERRORS Joint Operations After the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the Twin Towers, the United States (US) declared a global war on terrorism. Afghanistan was the first battleground with Operation ENDURING FREEDOM; US forces engaged enemy combatants in effort to deter, isolate and destroy, terrorist networks. In the early stages, unified land operations consisted mostly of special operation forces (SOF) with support of the US Airforce, US Navy, allies and Afghan Security Forces (ASF). This early collation was a joint effort that proved successful during the early phases of the operation. Engagement of enemy forces successfully deterred their operational capabilities and efforts that pushed enemy forces into Shahi Kot Valley. This concentration of enemy forces in Shahi Kot Valley fostered the development of Operation ANACONDA, a joint, interagency, intergovernmental, multinational (JIIM) operation. Words have powerful impacts and can majorly impact how one may think, feel, or even lead others to feel. Written by Markus Zusak, The Book Thief describes a story of an innocent foster girl, Liesel Meminger, who resides in Munich, Germany at one of the most troubling time periods in history, Nazi Germany. A tale narrated by the one and only Death himself, shows the perspective from his point of view, as well as others, describing how Liesel had been seized away from her birth mother at a young age, and put into a foster family. Her new family, the Hubermanns. As she matures and grows into a more critical thinker, understanding and analyzing everything that carefully happens around her. Her foster father, Hans guides her and teaches her how to read, which little does she know sparks her journey, the art of stealing books. Liesel soon discovers that words aren t simply lines on a page, they are strong emotions packed into a form that merely is held in her delicate hands. Not only did she hold the pages of emotion, she held a power, a dangerous weapon of words, a weapon of control, and every book that she had stolen was giving her unimaginable power that made her think in ways that she would ve never thought she could have. As with Nazi propaganda, and a gift that enabled her to broaden her worldview. Liesel evolves

BOAT CONFORMER (Note: Grey spheres are C atoms and Blue spheres are H atoms) Hence the boat conformer is able to dissolve in water but stabilizes soon and turns into the chair conformer making it non polar and separating it from water. Dipole moments of Fluoro Cyclohexane have increased by a factor of 611.6 as compared to cyclohexane. This explains how the presence of a single fluoride atom instead of a hydrogen impacts the structure and charge distribution of the cyclic hydrocarbon. • 30. The Necessary Qualities Of A Good Democratic Citizen Essay The necessary qualities of a good democratic citizen require an individual to recognize an injustice within the law, actively oppose that law, and to do so regardless if that unjust law affects the citizen personally. Rousseau, Emerson, and Douglass all agree that freedom and equality are natural rights endowed to all humans. However the three authors diverge in consensus when envisioning the necessary qualities of a good democratic citizen, such as the position from which each author is theorizing, a citizen s obligation to the state, and the moral implications of slavery. Douglass s view of a good democratic citizen is superior because, unlike Rousseau and Emerson, Douglass is able to theorize from the position of a free black man and is therefore able to recognize the intersections of race and inequality within the law and politics. Rousseau is theorizing from the concept of the general will, which promotes individuals to become conscious citizens who actively participate as a community to form policies for a governing structure. The general will advocates for a commitment to generality, a common interest that will unite all citizens for the benefit of all. Rousseau states, each one of us puts into the community his person and all his powers under the supreme direction of the general will; and as a body, we incorporate every member as an indivisible part of the whole (Rousseau 61). The general will is an expression of the law that is superior to an individual s

These transformations are not always pleasant and peaceful but, in general, they are useful for the society and help it to become a better one. In this work I am going to explain how, the European world changed dramatically as a result of a series of stresses in the late 13th to the mid 15th centuries and how such events as Black Plague, the One Hundred Year s War and the collapse of Papal Power influenced the Medieval European society. It was a long struggle between England and France over succession to the French throne. It lasted from 1337 to 1453, so it might more accurately be called the 116 Years War (Wheeler, The Hundred Years War ). Actually, it was the series of smaller wars and included several battles. The war involved two countries, England and France, which were among the leading ones in Europe during the Middle Ages. Nothing special, that such a massive struggle, which involved a large amount of people during the extremely long period of time, resulted into the drastic demographic, economical and political changes. England lost most of its continental territories and the insanity of the King brought it into the series of internal conflicts. On the contrary, France was able to strengthen its positions. The third important point, which initiated the changes in the European society and brought it to the new era of development, was the collapse of Papal Power. In the Middle Ages the belief that there is one Pope, who rules the church, was extremely strong. That is why the division of the Papacy into the two ruling points, one in Avignon, France and one in Rome was a great tragedy for many people as

The methods used include the dividend discount model, the earnings/price model, and the CAPM model. After analyzing all three possibilities, it is apparent that the CAPM model provides the most accurate estimate of Star Company s cost of capital because it accounts for the beta. Using the CAPM model, the new Star Company cost of equity is calculated as 9.4% and the WACC is determined to be 9.14% at the 9.5% debt rate. In addition to the estimation of the cost of equity, Star Appliance Company is also considering increasing their current debt ratio of 9.5% to the industry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To calculate the new cost of equity for Star, the risk free rate is added to the product of the beta and the risk premium. Star s new cost of equity is 9.4% (Appendix A). Given that the cost of equity is 9.4% and the cost of debt is 12.2%, Star s cost of capital can be calculated as 9.14% (Appendix B). The company was also considering raising the cost of debt to the industry average of 19%. At this cost of debt, Star Company would have a lower cost of capital of 8.24% (Appendix B) because interest on debt capital is deductible whereas dividend payments on equity capital are not. At the new WACC of 19%, the home appliance and agricultural machinery projects are valued based on their inherent levels of risk. The beta of the industry average home appliance project is 0.95, whereas the beta for the industry average agricultural machine project is calculated as 0.88. CAPM was then employed to find the cost of capital of each project. The cost of capital for the home appliance and agricultural machinery projects were found to be 10.4% and 9.92%, respectively (Appendix B). This analysis allows Star Company to allocate funds to projects that create returns greater than the industry cost of capital for each specific project. The IRR of the home appliance project is 11.29% and the IRR of the agricultural machinery project is 10.70%, which are both greater than the calculated cost of capitals. Therefore, in
  • 42. Physics Of Skiing Physics Physics is a very important aspect to how the world functions. It is also vital to understanding skiing. Skiing is the act of traveling on top of snow on long blades called skis that are attached to the feet. There are many different types of skiing such as alpine skiing, nordic skiing, ski jumping, and aerial skiing. Each of these are unique in their own way when it comes to how it is impacted by physics. The most common type of skiing is downhill skiing, or otherwise known as alpine skiing. The skier must be very agile and be able to make quick turns while going at fast speed. In order to do this they must obtain momentum by turning potential energy into kinetic energy. This is a relationship between work and energy. The person begins at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mass affects the force of gravity directly; the greater the force of gravity, the greater the velocity. The normal force is the force of the ground on the skis. It is opposite in direction of the force of gravity, but has the same magnitude. The force of kinetic friction acts in the opposite direction of the skier s movement. It is a fancy name for what was mentioned in the previous paragraph about friction between the skis and snow. Lastly, the drag force is the air resistance acting in the opposite direction of the skier s movement. Again, this was stated in the prior paragraph. The forces explain why skis move the way they

Applying The 4 + 1 View With Uml Applying the 4 + 1 View with UML 2 Summary The (UML) Unified Modeling Language is a general purpose modeling language in the field of software application design, which is developed to supply a conventional means to envision the design of a system. It was produced and created by James Rumbaugh, Ivar Jacobson and Grady Booch at Rational Software during 1994 95 with additional advancement led by them with 1996. In 1997 it was embraced as a basic by the (OMG) Object Management Group, and has actually been handled by this company since. In 2000 the Unified Modeling Language was likewise approved by the (ISO) International Organization for Standardization as an authorized ISO specification. Ever since it has actually been regularly modified ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The timeline reveals the highlights of the past of object oriented modeling techniques and symbols. It is initially based upon the notations of the Booch approach, the (OMT) Object modeling method and (OOSE) Object oriented software engineering, which it has actually incorporated into a solitary language. UML 2. X Apparently, the UML 2.0 significant modification switched out version 1.5 in 2005, which was created by a bigger consortium to boost the language further to mirror brand new experience on the use of its attributes. Even if UML 2.1 was never ever launched as an official requirement, versions 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 showed up in 2007, adhered to by UML 2.2 in February 2009. UML 2.3 was officially launched in May 2010. UML 2.4.1 was officially released in August 2011. UML 2.5 was launched in October 2012 as a Present version and has yet to come to be formally launched. There are 4 parts of the UML 2. X spec:. The Facilities that define the core meta model on which the Superstructure is based The (OCL) Object Constraint Language for specifying guidelines for model aspects The UML Layout Interchange that specifies exactly how UML 2 diagram formats are exchanged The Superstructure that specifies the symbols and semiotics for diagrams and their design components The existing versions of these criteria comply with UML Superstructure
