Ways to support and increase First Nations involvement in clean energy. Last year, CEBC hosted a 1
day workshop with First Nations. Over 75 First Nations attended and helped contribute to the First
Nations Clean Energy Strategy that is being developed by CEBC Board Member Dr. Judith Sayers.
CEBC has First Nation members and First Nations have benefited from partnerships in clean energy
projects through jobs, revenue sharing, royalty payments, and equity participation. CEBC would use
funding to support First Nations participation at Generate. 6. CEBC has post secondary institutions
BCIT and Thompson River s University as members. CEBC would have a clean technology panel that
would discuss clean technology and how they are developing programs to train Highly Qualified
Personnel to participate in the clean energy revolution. 7. As part of Generate, CEBC organizes field
trips to local clean energy projects and clean tech sites. The trips to local sites have First Nation
partners, so it is a great opportunity to learn more about their involvement and what the project has
met to them. 8. Generate offers short courses for professionals engaged in environmental assessment
and operators of plants. These short courses feature presentations on key topics, networking
opportunities, and a chance to highlight emerging technologies. These short courses are essential to

Paul Revere s Ride Summary
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow s, Paul Revere s Ride, is based off of the historical events that took
place in the late 1800s during the American Revolution against the British. Henry wrote this poem to
recall the brave and courageous journey made by the real Paul Revere. While his rendition of the story
wasn t completely accurate, due to the fact that Paul was not the only midnight rider, it still served as a
great example of what a true American hero looks like. The author once stated, Lives of great men all
remind us, we can make our lives sublime, and, departing, leave behind us, footprints on the sands of
time. Henry uses this story to bring the audience on the journey of Paul Revere. More importantly he
uses the story to describe the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paul discovers the two lanterns that have been lit and rides through a town to warn its people. Henry
writes that the fate of a nation was riding that night , in other words to say that the fate of the colonies
lie in Paul Revere s hands. Perhaps to say if Paul had not delivered the message of the British arrival,
then many of America s people would have not made it or been prepared to fight back. The author
gives the audience a time frame of which these events occurred. He states, It was one by the village
clock, when he galloped into Lexington. And later says, It was two by the village clock, when he came
to the bridge in Concord town. A sense of repetition can be seen here by the wording and the time
elements being in numerical order. The poem concludes to say that we all know the story and how it

Factors Lead To The Low Standard Of Living In Chad
In Chad, the majority of the population has a low standard of living, this is shown through their high
levels of inequality, poor housing, low standard of health, high infant mortality rate, high corruption,
high levels of malnutrition, lack of overall education and high poverty levels. Its gdp per capita (PPP),
has relatively remained stagnant over the last four decades according to IMF world economic outlook
data published in 2016. It shows that Chad s share of worlds gdp (PPP) was approximately 0.02% in
1980 s and is 0.03% in 2017. This stagnant growth in the standard of living in Chad is momentous as
it exemplifies that standard of living 35 years ago has remained constant and is roughly the same in
present times. This is also evident through its high poverty headcount, over half of the population is
still living below the poverty line, meaning that the citizens of Chad cannot afford adequate housing
and vaccines and other basic necessities. All of these factors contribute to the low standard of living in
Chad, which is a direct result of Chad s lack of economic growth and development.
Whilst most underdeveloped nations have unemployment rates ranging from 10% to 20%. Chad has
an even higher unemployment rate, at about 68.2% of the total labour force. This proportion seems to
be lower in reality as its difficult to measure unemployment in an undeveloped economy as it doesn t
account for people working in family business or in farms. Substantial dependence on

Being A Leader Takes Great Ability. Over Many Years’ People
Being a leader takes great ability. Over many years people have written many books and taught many
ways for people to become an effective leader. One of the main things that people fail to understand
that the major part of being a leader is just being yourself. You can be taught by someone techniques
and ways to problem solve and how to think strategically but leadership is more than that. Being
yourself flaws and all helps make you human and shows your ability that you are not perfect and
makes mistakes just like everyone else. These techniques will make you gain those necessary
followers who do not look for someone that is perfect but look for someone that is inspiring. Many
times the necessary skills individuals need to become a leader ... Show more content on

Being Yourself Many people get into business and feel that need to separate their lives or
compartmentalize their life from who they are at work against who they are when you are not
working. One of the biggest pieces of advice leaders and aspiring leaders should take is being
themselves. Having confidence that you are good enough just being yourself will help make you a
leader and someone that people would want to follow because they see you as being human and like
themselves. This concept is hard to follow by many executives because most of the knowledge and
training out their point them to certain traits and skills needed to have to be an effective leader.
According to the authors Robert Goffee and Gareth Jones in one year there where more than 2,000
books published on leadership, some even reprints of Moses and Shakespeare repackaged as
leadership gurus (Goffee, R., Jones, G, 2000). With such vast amount of information available it is
surprising that many of these do not give the basic advice to just be yourself. Weakness and
Leadership One of the main techniques of being yourself is showing your weakness. No matter who
you are from a crossing guard to a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, everyone has a weakness. If
someone is considered to be perfect people might assume them to not need followers. It will illustrate
to people that they could handle everything for themselves (Goffee, R.,

The Legalization Of Drugs And Drugs In The 21st Century
Drugs have always been a huge part of society and the 21st century is no exception. They have been
an integral part of many religions and cultures, they have been used for medical purposes and even for
recreational use. What many people don t know is that many of the drugs that are used today are many
times more potent than they were just 20 years ago. The Drug movement that is happening now will
affect the USA and other countries forever afterwards and the legalization of some drugs for
recreational use, including marijuana and alcohol, are all at the center of this war. Drugs have been
around for a lot longer then many would believe. Some of the first drugs to be used by mankind were
opioids as far back as 5000 bc by the Sumerians during religious rituals (Timeline). Since then drugs
have been used by almost every culture on the Earth. One of the first large scale drugs issues to have
happened in the past 500 years was in China with opium that was bought through the British traders.
The British started the war over Chinese produced teas The war disrupted the opium trade that Britain
had with China. Those addicted to opium in China had no where to get their drugs and many died
from the side effects of withdrawal from the drug. After a few hundred years the US began having its
own issues with tobacco, alcohol and many new drugs that were first used for medical purposes but
were quickly deemed harmful and addictive (Cannabis). First attempt to fix this was prohibition

How The Somoza Family Changed Nicaragua

Unfortunately, the corrupted Somoza family was the only one who received any benefit from the

However, instead of going to rebuilding the country, the money was swindled by the Somoza family.

Why Do People Use Personal Stereos
Bull also states that The belief that urban subjects are subjects in retreat has become a core
explanatory frame work or everyday urban environment experienced as being inhabited by strangers
and hence dangerous. This is typical of visual explanations of urban behaviour that locate motivation
completely in terms of supposed responses to the environment. (Bull 2000, p.137) this links very well
to the idea of people using their personal stereos as a way to block others out. When travelling on
public transport you are in a way trapped in a small place with strangers as the quote states. I would
like to see if this is why so many people use their headphones and personal stereos as a barrier to
separate themselves from others while travelling

Thesis Statement On The Rehab Statement
The rehab statement
My life has changed positively... and I can confidently say that.
A few years ago, this statement would have been utterly false or perhaps something else I d say under
the influence of alcohol or to prevent my loved ones from finding out that I had taken a few sips. It
had become second nature to me, lying. I could say anything after having a few glasses, or a bottle, or
two. I lied on and on and I didn t care. Honestly, at that time, I did not care how my lies affected
people around me, or whether they affected them. All I cared about was myself and the temporary
escape I get from reality, which the drink offered. When I was sad I d drink, when I was happy I d
drink, when I was angry, I d drink, every form of mood I found myself in, I d use it as an opportunity
to drink. And afterward the result was the same, I d lie and hurt my loved ones. Drinking had become
a problem. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I did very bad things without care or control. My behavior was terrible. Whenever I was under the
influence, I did everything in my power to hurt people with my behavior. And it was not long before I
found myself alienated and estranged. My actions had driven people away from me, or perhaps I
pushed them away. Gradually, I began losing friendships and relationships, and declining socially,
mentally, emotionally, and financially. Every aspect of my life headed towards a downward spiral.
Eventually, I became so alone, and my loneliness hurt. And when it hurt, I d drink. It became a cycle,
a never ending cycling of me being hurt and then drowning my misery in drinking. I never thought it
would end or things would ever

Charlemagne s Efforts to Unify Christianity Essay
During the beginning of Charlemagne s imperial reign, the Church was full of inconsistencies and
unorthodox practices. Clergy from different areas practiced the faith in different ways because many
of the texts they used were badly translated and contained errors.1 Charlemagne would receive letters,
detailing monks prayers, that contained both correct thoughts and uncouth expressions 2 He was
worried that if they could not write correctly, then they might be misinterpreting the bible and God
would not be honored. Many of the common people could not distinguish between religion and
superstition, which would allow absurd beliefs to become accepted.3 Unorthodox practices like naked

The decisions passed by this council would then be published in the form of a capitulary, in order to
carry the full force of law. These capitularies unified the empire by establishing orthodoxy among
churches and identifying the correct way to live a christian life; however, Charlemagne also need to
improve education so the common person could understand and interpret the laws correctly.
The education of the Frankish Empire was almost nonexistent so the first step Charlemagne made was
simply encouraging intellectual curiosity and learning. He gathered many wise men to his court,
including Alcuin, Peter of pisa, Paulinus, Theodulf, and Agobard. They encompassed diverse fields
like grammarian, historian, poet, theologian, and came from far away places like Italy, Spain, and
Ireland.7 Charlemagne highly valued their wisdom and would reward them lavishly with money and
property such as abbeys.8 with these great men, Charlemagne set up the first school at his palace to
teach reading, writing, and the scriptures. One story by Mayke de Jong, gives an illustration of just
how much Charlemagne valued education. While inspecting the school, Charlemagne put the
hardworking pupils on his right and the lazy ones on his left symbolizing eternal judgement.9 He
made no distinction between rank, but many of the lower ranked pupils

Mustafa Kemal Ataturk Essay
Mustafa Kemal AtatĂźrk (March 12, 1881 November 10, 1938), Turkish soldier and statesman, was the
founder and first President of the Republic of Turkey. He was born in the Ottoman city of Selânik
(now Thessaloniki in Greece), where his birthplace is the Turkish Consulate and is also preserved as a
museum. In accordance with the then prevalent Turkish custom, he was given the single name
Mustafa. His father, Ali Riza (Efendi) was a customs officer who died when Mustafa was a child, his
mother was ZĂźbeyde (Hanim). Ataturk s Early career Mustafa studied at the military secondary school

His area of command again included the Gallipoli area, and he was thus the Ottoman commander
against the invading allied forces during the Gallipoli landings by British, French and ANZAC forces
in April 1915. Here he made his name as a brilliant military commander, although he was extremely
wasteful of the lives of his troops, who died in large numbers in human wave attacks. Nevertheless he
was the first Ottoman military commander to defeat a western army in living memory, and became a
national hero, awarded the title Pasha (commander). During 1917 and 1918 Kemal Pasha was posted
to the Caucasus front fighting the Russian forces with some success, and then to the Hejaz, where the
Arab Revolt against Ottoman rule was in progress. He became increasingly critical of the incompetent
conduct of the war by the Sultan s government, and also of German domination of the Empire. He
resigned his command, but eventually agreed to return to command Ottoman forces in Palestine. In
October 1918 the Ottomans capitulated to the Allies, and Kemal became one of the leaders of the
party which favoured a policy of defending the Turkish speaking heartlands of the Empire, while
agreeing to withdraw from all the non Turkish territories. Turkish nationalist sentiment was aroused by
the Greek occupation of Izmir (Smyrna) in May 1919, in accordance with the Treaty of Sevres (this
Treaty was signed by the Sultan under Allied duress but never ratified by the Ottoman parliament.)

The universally recognized 14th Dalai Lama has tirelessly fought for the freedom for Tibet, during
and after the unlawful occupation of the Chinese. His non violence and political involvement for Tibet
had brought acknowledgment and respect from the rest of the world.
Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, was born in 1934 in Eastern Tibet. He was hailed his predecessor
s incarnation at the age of two, and was enthroned in 1940. Traditionally, the role of the Dalai Lama is
the spiritual guide and leader of Tibet, creating a symbol of security and peace. Dalai Lama s are

The Dalai Lama continued to send delegations to both neighboring counties and also countries of
significant power, but all of the Dalai Lama s attempts went ignored, as China was at the time, of great
power and consequence, and an important contribution to trade. Therefore powerful countries did not
get involved with Tibet, in the fear of provoking influential China.
While the Dalai Lama remained in Tibet, his life was at stake. Tibet slowly went into a cataclysmic
effect of destruction and disorder. The freedom of speech was now lost to the Tibetan people, freedom
marches and movements were banned, the result in not complying with this unjust system was death
or brutal imprisonment for years at a time. Even though these protests were violently suppressed by
the Communist government and martial law was imposed in 1989, demonstrations against Chinese
rule have nevertheless continued.
Following Tibet s Liberation, Mao Zedong immediately established the Seventeen Point System,
which totally eliminated Tibet s past independence. Since then, almost one and a half million people in
Tibet have been slain, and over six thousand religious buildings have been demolished. These horrific
figures have shocked the world and brought about a great sense of remorse and compassion towards
the Tibetan people and the Dalai Lama, as they continue to resist the Chinese through the means of

Development of a Child s Imagination
Dr Montessori emphasizes the importance of the development of imagination. How do cultural
activities in a Montessori prepared environment aid in the development....
The ability to imagine is a unique human experience and deserves to be nurtured and encouraged. Dr.
Maria Montessori believed that the development of the child s imagination and creativity are inborn
powers within the child that develops as his mental capacities are established through his interaction
with the environment. The cultural activities in a Montessori prepared environment helps to foster
imaginative skills in the early years which make significant difference in a child s future development.

Children can also tell us a lot about themselves through their art. We can see emotions, interests, and
sometimes a child s personal struggles. It is a clue as to who this child is. The purpose is not to
analyze the child, but to get to know the child. Above all, be sure to give art to the child so it can
awaken a creative path. So that through his art he can enter a world of his imaginations which in turn
gives the teacher an understanding of the mental growth of the child. This in turn helps the teacher to
recognize and encourage those potential hidden talents. Thus the art works in cultural activities in
Montessori environment aids the development of imagination of the child.
Every cultural path has a sensorial base for the child. There are materials in the Sensorial area from
which the child builds a base for these other activities. From this base, the child will be offered
specific activities in each of the paths of culture. Thus allows the child to become a participating and
contributing member of his society. The Cultural Work is given so the child has the keys to function in
his culture. In Montessori environment, geography is taught as the study of the life of man, the way
humans live, and the way of life that has been established by a human society to sustain life. It is the

Ethical Issues In Sully
Sully (2016), a film based on the true story of the pilot Chesley Sully Sullenberger (Tom Hanks), tells
of a heroic landing of a commercial plane on the Hudson River. Shortly after takeoff, the plane was
struck by a flock of birds. Sully had to make a quick decision to land his plane on the Hudson River.
His quick actions result in the safe landing of the plane, and all 155 present on board survives. He
faces big challenges due to his action of landing on water. Sully worries about the safety of his
passengers because of the real possibility of illness and death that could have been caused by his

The danger with water landing is not the initial landing, it is what happens after the landing. Unlike
crash landings on land, when done in the waters the risk of drowning is v possible and is the cause of
most water based landing deaths. After Sully thoroughly checked the plane to ensure that everyone
was evacuated safely, he proceeded to leave himself. Sully being the last to leave the plane was
showing his concern for everyone who was onboard the plane. While Sully was able to land with
everyone intact, the weather was another factor that they had to be taken into consideration. It was in
the heart of winter and both the water and air temperature were very cold. As seen in the film two of
the passengers tried to swim, while others feel into the cold water. The danger that lies here is the fact
that hypothermia, a medical emergency that occurs when your body loses heat faster than it can
produce heat, has symptoms of dizziness, and a lack of coordination. This means that someone who
may normally be a strong swimmer could drown very easily due to hypothermia. Also, if hypothermia
is left untreated it eventually leads to complete failure of one s heart and respiratory system causing
death. (Hypothermia) In the film we see the recused passengers shivering and being giving blankets.

To Give Up On Words Silence In Western Apache Culture Summary
Introduction
Keith H. Basso s ethnographic research titled, To Give up on Words: Silence in Western Apache
Culture is an investigation of situations when members of a certain Apache community in the western
United States assume the state of silence as a form of social interaction. In this paper, I will first note
details of the society under consideration and Basso s interests in regards to the questions he is trying
to answer. I will introduce some anthropological concepts that are suitable to the discussion, followed
by Basso s observations regarding silence in the Apache community, including his methods,
arguments, and conclusion. Finally, I will evaluate Basso s findings and deduce if the evidence

A group of gowąąs then combine to form a gotąą, which is described by Basso as spatially localized
clusters. In the Cibecue community, rituals and traditions still carry great importance and play a
significant role in communication, despite intervention from Anglo missionaries to modernize the
community. A major part of Basso s interests in the Cibecue community is to study the role of silence
in a community where focused gatherings are a common mode of public communication. He looks to
examine situations where silence becomes the appropriate communicative process and the reasons
why it is considered so. Moreover, these situations of silence only occur during a certain period or
circumstance that is defined by tradition as well as experience. Another factor in Basso s interest is to
define what human emotion determines the decision to remain silent in a particular situation. A
discussion of Basso s definition of the term situation will be provided in the next section.
Contextual Concepts In order to completely understand the arguments put forth by Basso in his
research, it is vital to understand the concept that communication occurs with or without the usage of
speech, and in this case through silence. Although the people engaged in this silence are not
communicating directly per se, the silence is an acknowledgement of their presence. Interpersonal
communication, which occurs face to face, employs three main technical components: a code (an

Supervisor Skills Essays
Six Skills to Successful Supervision
Supervisors are an important part of any organization. They are charged with ensuring the will of
management is carried out by the workers. A supervisor must communicate with that team. He or she
must orient and train the employees. Their employees must be made to work as a well functioning,
productive team. Employees must have the performance evaluated. Any conflicts that arise must be
resolves and the working relationship must always be improved.
Communication
Well performing teams can not be built without good communication. A good supervisor must possess
the ability to relay clearly their own thoughts, listen to the ideas of others and ensure the will of
management is executed. Excellent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is done by restating the key points of the speaker. Restating will show the speaker that he or she
is being listened to which will improve the rapport and further enhance communication. The speaker
will also have the opportunity to clear up any misunderstood points. Paraphrasing will also aid in
remembering the conversation for later.
Determining Effective Orientation and Training Methods
The first day of work can be intimidating for anyone; even for those who have been in the workforce
for many years. Nervousness, while not unusual, can be detrimental to the goals of a company. Taking
the time to ensure all new employees are acquainted with their coworkers and surrounding can reduce
insecurity and boost moral. A thorough training program will also help to eliminate mistakes, ensure
procedures are followed and increase employee confidence. Orientation should be held on the first
day. Employees should be given an opportunity to introduce themselves and learn about the others that
are being going to be in orientation with them. This will help them relax and feel more comfortable
asking questions. This is a good time to take care of paper work. Payroll and tax forms should be filled
completed as well as any other necessary documents. This is also a good time to discuss the company
and its plans. The employee should also be introduced to the hierarchy of the company. This will
allow them to see where

China By Anja Manuel Analysis
In chapters four through six, Anja Manuel focuses on the gap between the rich and poor, corruption,
and the disruption in age differences in the work force. The issues that unravel in these two countries
are extremely important to the United States because the US helps in supplying resources for the poor.
The US is therefore left to decide whether or not to continue subsidizing these countries or leaving
them to pick up their own economic mess. The truth is that the United States has the power to make
important and necessary changes to these working conditions. Since the US often uses these countries
for production, they have the opportunity to offer better benefits and conditions to their workers which

In China, corruption is so apparent that often people are disincentivized to owning businesses because
permits and consultants cost too much and require bribes. Yet, bribes can cost the economy big money
because essentially the corrupt businessmen are taking the money away from public services (111).
The issues coming up in the future are that the governments that are corrupt might have negative
impacts on other global economies and spread the norm of corruption. Yet, both countries do show the
will to purify the Party which includes newly implemented rules against gluttony, adultery, and even
playing golf under the leadership of Wang Qishan (113). In China a bigger issue is also the fact that
the public is becoming increasingly involved in corruption scandals. Officials worry people will get
carried away with excessive accusations (115). More issues stem from the type of political system that
China has; they employ a nominal legal system that runs at the discretion of the Party leadership so
this means that whoever is in power can change the entire political ideals. In India, they are based on a
historical British political system with anticorruption laws but these laws are often not enforced. Yet,
even when they are enforced, trials in case can last for up to a decade (116). In India, they are making
moves to help out their corruption issues. They implemented the Aadhaar program

The Misusing of Prescription Drugs
Eckhart Tolle once said Every addiction arises from an unconscious refusal to face and move through
your own pain. Every addiction starts with pain and ends with pain. Whatever the substance you are
addicted to alcohol, food, legal, or illegal drugs, or a person you are using something or somebody to
cover up your pain. As time continues to past the amount of people that misuse or abuse prescription
drugs increasing rapidly. This has become a huge issue with teens because they are always looking for
a way to fit in with their peers. Drugs are misused for many different purposes because of the way
today s society is set up. As an alternative to practicing more or studying to improve in ones
performance, teens have begun to misuse prescription drugs in order to enhance their performance in
their school work and extra curriculum activities instead. A drug known as kiddie speed is often used
to help increase the concentration level of a teen during a test. In schools it is one of the most common
drugs found being misused because children have easy access to it from either having it prescribed to
them for a disorder or because it s laying around their households. Not only do young people have
access to the drugs at home but at school they can purchase the pills from peers up to $2 each for the
tablets (Watt 1). Not only do teens use prescription drugs to increase their concentration but some

How Western was Russia The question is not is not whether Russia was a western nation, it is to how
Western was Russia? This question has no set answer, it changes over time. Often times, throughout
history, situations change, often times change is made in order to perfect imperfect systems. Russia is
no different in this regard. Russia was less Westernized under the Mongols and the rule of the Ivan s
up through Ivan IV, but became more westernized under the rule of Peter I. Russia under the rule of
the Mongols was not Western in any significant way. The Mongol ruler over Russia were by Khans, ...

His accession to the throne appears to be a turning point. There appears to be a very small softening of
attitudes and the style of rule used in regards to governing Russia. He sought to make nobles do their
duty instead of merely leaching of the labor of serfs and of the state budget. Nobles were required to
work and be productive such as performing service in either the military or in the government.
Additionally Peter I also known as Peter the Great tried to gain the support of his people instead of
ruling through force alone. He did this by explaining the decisions he made. This does not result in a
participatory government but it does seek to remove the veil of secrecy that lingered over it. This was
a small step towards the style of certain Western Governments such as the United Kingdom where the
monarch was constrained by parliament. Albeit explanations did not allow popular participation in
government, it was progress. Progress does not come over night; it is often the product of small
changes such as

Cultural Heritage In Lucill Clifton s Study The Masters
What is cultural heritage and what is its significance today in our society? Cultural heritage is what we
call the legacy of physical science artifacts and intangible attributes of a group or society that are
inherited from past generations, maintained in the present and bestowed for the benefit of future
generations. Sometimes there are moments when we openly decide to ignore our cultural heritage and
focus on the other very worldly objects that surround our society. However, it s important to note that
many writers take time out of their day to write about their own cultural heritage instead of focusing
on other things. The Harlem Renaissance began somewhere in the 1920 s and brought forth livelihood
and amazing art along with incredible talent, this was known as the New Negro Movement , this all
took place in Harlem, New York. In the midst were three poets, Langston Hughes, ... Show more

For us, it is important for us to study those who have long gone because there may be something that
we can get out of it, hence bettering our understanding of what has long since past. In the poem she
talks about those who watch others and what can all be gained from doing so, in this one the narrator
describes how she watches her aunt as she does daily chores. This would be important because it s
good to know those people before we lose them. In the poem, Study the Masters , Lucille Clifton
describes, Study the masters like my Aunt Timmie (915). Clifton s narrator chose to study Aunt
Timmie for reasons of learning, because no one can really get anything out of cultural heritage unless
they re willing to take the time to learn. This however presents a sense of longing because times have
changed, which is why cultural heritage has become so important because everything is changing. As
a result we would long for whatever we no longer

The Spiritual Journey In Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha
He bowed low, right down to the ground, in front of the man sitting there motionless, whose smile
reminded him of everything that he had ever loved in his life, of everything that had ever been of
value and holy in his life (Hesse 122). In 1922 Hermann Hesse published his popular novel,
Siddhartha. This book follows the spiritual journey of a man named Siddhartha. During his odyssey,
Siddhartha finds himself in the presence of many teachers that help him with his trek to Nirvana, the
state of tranquility. Although he prefers to not learn from teachers, Kamala educates him about
passion, Vasudeva guides him to enlightenment, and Govinda edifies Siddhartha throughout his entire
life. They all teach Siddhartha essential life lessons on his voyage to self discovery. Kamala, a woman
Siddhartha crosses paths within the city, educates him on the true meaning of passion. During their
relationship, Kamala sees something unique in Siddhartha, You are stronger than others, more supple,
more willing. You have learned my art well, Siddhartha. Someday, when I am older, I will have a child
by you (Hesse 59). As a courtesan, Kamala typically never feels this way about others. Their
infatuation grows for one another throughout the novel, even though both claim they will never love.
Numerous years pass in the city; they end up growing old together and Siddhartha knows he needs to
leave and return on his path to reach Nirvana. Covertly pregnant with Siddhartha s child, Kamala

The Other Wes Moore is written by Wes Moore himself. In the book The other Wes Moore there is
two black African American boys who share the same name but, ended up in different paths in life.
Both boys have absent fathers for their various reason and with mothers being the head of the
household. The purpose of the story is to illustrate how nurture is responsible for a individual success.
Author Wes Moore uses parallel plot structure, flashbacks, and diction to prove that nurture
determines an individual success.
The Other Wes Moore use parallel plot structure to display the similarities and differences between the
two Wes s in their environments. In the story, Wes explains why his mom decided to send him to

Software Engineering Is Like An Art
Software engineering is like an art in that it begins with a problem and ends with the creation of a
solution that solves it (Blum, p.9). Engineers grew out of the ashes of the problems of the world.
Software engineers deal with problems and maintenance in computer software. For a computer to find
a solution to anything, programs have to be designed and written into the computer using models for
the software process. Bernd Bruegge, in his presentation titled, Software Lifecycle Models, states a
software process represents all the phases needed to create a program, from the study of the goals
leading to the objective, to the maintenance of said goals and how the phases relate to one another.
There are many different models used as guidelines to form the software process needed to create a
program, but this paper will prove how the waterfall model performs the software process in the most
reliable and user friendly fashion. The waterfall model will be defined and then compared to the V
model, prototype model, and Boehm s spiral model, with all aspects in relation to software
engineering. M. C. Escher s painting, Waterfall , depicts a waterfall defying reality by creating an
infinite flow of water from a structure that seems to be realistic. Escher s waterfall, on paper, seems to
be flawless but when implied to the real world, the design is impossible. The waterfall model used to
create software processes is flawless if used properly, but if one step is overlooked,

Values In Ethics Of Care
Values and ethics are vital to any organization, Personal values can be dened as concepts or beliefs
about desirable end states or behaviours that transcend specific circumstances, guide selection or
evaluation of behavior and events, and are ordered by relative importance (Schwartz and Bilsky,
1987). Values convey what is important to us in our lives. We as individuals hold numerous values
with varying degrees of importance. Conflicts between personal and professional values are common.
Social workers are often faced with situations that bring them face to face with a conflict between
their personal values and professional values. Most professions aim to provide basic ethical rules that
professionals apply in decision making. These are usually derived from various traditional ethical
theories. This essay will be discussing and reflecting on some of these theories and how my personal
ethical values, shape and impact on my professional practice, using a case scenario.

solution which is agreed on by impartial observers and by applying universally accepted principles.
Rather, solutions emerge from relationships of mutual care and from the context in which the
problems are rooted (Jones et al., 2007). This theory gave me the option of approaching James, talking

Pros And Cons Of Road Trip Essay
Top Tips for Road Trips
Intrepid travellers know that if one wishes to see the very best of a country, any country, one must get
behind the wheel of a car. And so it is with Costa Rica, a land blessed with natural treasures and plenty
of cultural experiences. While flying or riding coach from place to place is certainly rewarding enough
here, there s nothing which can compare to the priceless freedom granted by a self drive road trip. Plus
you can choose the tunes and, let s face it, that s really rather priceless.
We admit, one needs a healthy dose of adventure lust, steely nerves and quite a bit of cash to enjoy a
fantastic road trip in Costa Rica, but the rewards of undertaking such an adventure are simply
sensational. The country s most enticing attractions are way off the beaten path, hidden at the end of
pot holed roads, winding forest tracks and far away from civilization. Besides, the scenery along every
road in Costa Rica, whether on the coast or interior, is utterly breathtaking. Having the freedom to just

through thick forests and winding mountain pass roads. Even if you skip the hard bits and stick to well
paved roads, you re bound to have a sensational time. The most enjoyable parts, for many, is stopping

Biochemical Mechanisms of ACE Inhibitors
The renin angiotensin aldosterone system (RAAS) is a group of hormones that are produced
sequentially in order to regulate salt water homeostasis as well as blood pressure.5 The first enzyme,
renin, is produced by the juxtaglomerular cells of the kidney when blood volume is low and is
released into the bloodstream.3,5,6 Renin then catalyzes the conversion of angiotensinogen to
angiotensin I.3,5,6 Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE), which is produced in the lungs,
subsequently converts angiotensin I to angiotensin II, a more active enzyme.3,5,6 Angiotensin II has
several functions. The hormone s primary mechanism for increasing blood pressure is through the
stimulation of blood vessel constriction. Furthermore, angiotensin II increases the contractility of the
heart via sympathetic activation. It also stimulates anti diuretic hormone (ADH) release, which
increases water reabsorption at the collecting ducts, resulting

  • 3. Paul Revere s Ride Summary Henry Wadsworth Longfellow s, Paul Revere s Ride, is based off of the historical events that took place in the late 1800s during the American Revolution against the British. Henry wrote this poem to recall the brave and courageous journey made by the real Paul Revere. While his rendition of the story wasn t completely accurate, due to the fact that Paul was not the only midnight rider, it still served as a great example of what a true American hero looks like. The author once stated, Lives of great men all remind us, we can make our lives sublime, and, departing, leave behind us, footprints on the sands of time. Henry uses this story to bring the audience on the journey of Paul Revere. More importantly he uses the story to describe the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Paul discovers the two lanterns that have been lit and rides through a town to warn its people. Henry writes that the fate of a nation was riding that night , in other words to say that the fate of the colonies lie in Paul Revere s hands. Perhaps to say if Paul had not delivered the message of the British arrival, then many of America s people would have not made it or been prepared to fight back. The author gives the audience a time frame of which these events occurred. He states, It was one by the village clock, when he galloped into Lexington. And later says, It was two by the village clock, when he came to the bridge in Concord town. A sense of repetition can be seen here by the wording and the time elements being in numerical order. The poem concludes to say that we all know the story and how it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Factors Lead To The Low Standard Of Living In Chad In Chad, the majority of the population has a low standard of living, this is shown through their high levels of inequality, poor housing, low standard of health, high infant mortality rate, high corruption, high levels of malnutrition, lack of overall education and high poverty levels. Its gdp per capita (PPP), has relatively remained stagnant over the last four decades according to IMF world economic outlook data published in 2016. It shows that Chad s share of worlds gdp (PPP) was approximately 0.02% in 1980 s and is 0.03% in 2017. This stagnant growth in the standard of living in Chad is momentous as it exemplifies that standard of living 35 years ago has remained constant and is roughly the same in present times. This is also evident through its high poverty headcount, over half of the population is still living below the poverty line, meaning that the citizens of Chad cannot afford adequate housing and vaccines and other basic necessities. All of these factors contribute to the low standard of living in Chad, which is a direct result of Chad s lack of economic growth and development. Whilst most underdeveloped nations have unemployment rates ranging from 10% to 20%. Chad has an even higher unemployment rate, at about 68.2% of the total labour force. This proportion seems to be lower in reality as its difficult to measure unemployment in an undeveloped economy as it doesn t account for people working in family business or in farms. Substantial dependence on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Being A Leader Takes Great Ability. Over Many Years’ People Being a leader takes great ability. Over many years people have written many books and taught many ways for people to become an effective leader. One of the main things that people fail to understand that the major part of being a leader is just being yourself. You can be taught by someone techniques and ways to problem solve and how to think strategically but leadership is more than that. Being yourself flaws and all helps make you human and shows your ability that you are not perfect and makes mistakes just like everyone else. These techniques will make you gain those necessary followers who do not look for someone that is perfect but look for someone that is inspiring. Many times the necessary skills individuals need to become a leader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Being Yourself Many people get into business and feel that need to separate their lives or compartmentalize their life from who they are at work against who they are when you are not working. One of the biggest pieces of advice leaders and aspiring leaders should take is being themselves. Having confidence that you are good enough just being yourself will help make you a leader and someone that people would want to follow because they see you as being human and like themselves. This concept is hard to follow by many executives because most of the knowledge and training out their point them to certain traits and skills needed to have to be an effective leader. According to the authors Robert Goffee and Gareth Jones in one year there where more than 2,000 books published on leadership, some even reprints of Moses and Shakespeare repackaged as leadership gurus (Goffee, R., Jones, G, 2000). With such vast amount of information available it is surprising that many of these do not give the basic advice to just be yourself. Weakness and Leadership One of the main techniques of being yourself is showing your weakness. No matter who you are from a crossing guard to a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, everyone has a weakness. If someone is considered to be perfect people might assume them to not need followers. It will illustrate to people that they could handle everything for themselves (Goffee, R., ... • 6. The Legalization Of Drugs And Drugs In The 21st Century Drugs have always been a huge part of society and the 21st century is no exception. They have been an integral part of many religions and cultures, they have been used for medical purposes and even for recreational use. What many people don t know is that many of the drugs that are used today are many times more potent than they were just 20 years ago. The Drug movement that is happening now will affect the USA and other countries forever afterwards and the legalization of some drugs for recreational use, including marijuana and alcohol, are all at the center of this war. Drugs have been around for a lot longer then many would believe. Some of the first drugs to be used by mankind were opioids as far back as 5000 bc by the Sumerians during religious rituals (Timeline). Since then drugs have been used by almost every culture on the Earth. One of the first large scale drugs issues to have happened in the past 500 years was in China with opium that was bought through the British traders. The British started the war over Chinese produced teas The war disrupted the opium trade that Britain had with China. Those addicted to opium in China had no where to get their drugs and many died from the side effects of withdrawal from the drug. After a few hundred years the US began having its own issues with tobacco, alcohol and many new drugs that were first used for medical purposes but were quickly deemed harmful and addictive (Cannabis). First attempt to fix this was prohibition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Over 2/3 of Nicaragua s citizens were displaced by this terrible earthquake and ten thousand people were killed (Revels, 2014). Unfortunately, the corrupted Somoza family was the only one who received any benefit from the earthquake. In the wake of the earthquake, the United States poured tons of money into Nicaragua. However, instead of going to rebuilding the country, the money was swindled by the Somoza family. Why Do People Use Personal Stereos Bull also states that The belief that urban subjects are subjects in retreat has become a core explanatory frame work or everyday urban environment experienced as being inhabited by strangers and hence dangerous. This is typical of visual explanations of urban behaviour that locate motivation completely in terms of supposed responses to the environment. (Bull 2000, p.137) this links very well to the idea of people using their personal stereos as a way to block others out. A few years ago, this statement would have been utterly false or perhaps something else I d say under the influence of alcohol or to prevent my loved ones from finding out that I had taken a few sips. It had become second nature to me, lying. I could say anything after having a few glasses, or a bottle, or two. I lied on and on and I didn t care. Honestly, at that time, I did not care how my lies affected people around me, or whether they affected them. All I cared about was myself and the temporary escape I get from reality, which the drink offered. When I was sad I d drink, when I was happy I d drink, when I was angry, I d drink, every form of mood I found myself in, I d use it as an opportunity to drink. Every aspect of my life headed towards a downward spiral. Eventually, I became so alone, and my loneliness hurt. And when it hurt, I d drink. • 10. Charlemagne s Efforts to Unify Christianity Essay During the beginning of Charlemagne s imperial reign, the Church was full of inconsistencies and unorthodox practices. Clergy from different areas practiced the faith in different ways because many of the texts they used were badly translated and contained errors.1 Charlemagne would receive letters, detailing monks prayers, that contained both correct thoughts and uncouth expressions 2 He was worried that if they could not write correctly, then they might be misinterpreting the bible and God would not be honored. Many of the common people could not distinguish between religion and superstition, which would allow absurd beliefs to become accepted.3 Unorthodox practices like naked people walking around with chains claiming to be doing ... These capitularies unified the empire by establishing orthodoxy among churches and identifying the correct way to live a christian life; however, Charlemagne also need to improve education so the common person could understand and interpret the laws correctly. The education of the Frankish Empire was almost nonexistent so the first step Charlemagne made was simply encouraging intellectual curiosity and learning. He gathered many wise men to his court, including Alcuin, Peter of pisa, Paulinus, Theodulf, and Agobard. They encompassed diverse fields like grammarian, historian, poet, theologian, and came from far away places like Italy, Spain, and Ireland.7 Charlemagne highly valued their wisdom and would reward them lavishly with money and property such as abbeys.8 with these great men, Charlemagne set up the first school at his palace to teach reading, writing, and the scriptures. One story by Mayke de Jong, gives an illustration of just how much Charlemagne valued education. While inspecting the school, Charlemagne put the hardworking pupils on his right and the lazy ones on his left symbolizing eternal judgement.9 He made no distinction between rank, but many of the lower ranked pupils ... He was born in the Ottoman city of Selânik (now Thessaloniki in Greece), where his birthplace is the Turkish Consulate and is also preserved as a museum. In accordance with the then prevalent Turkish custom, he was given the single name Mustafa. His father, Ali Riza (Efendi) was a customs officer who died when Mustafa was a child, his mother was ZĂźbeyde (Hanim). His area of command again included the Gallipoli area, and he was thus the Ottoman commander against the invading allied forces during the Gallipoli landings by British, French and ANZAC forces in April 1915. Here he made his name as a brilliant military commander, although he was extremely wasteful of the lives of his troops, who died in large numbers in human wave attacks. Nevertheless he was the first Ottoman military commander to defeat a western army in living memory, and became a national hero, awarded the title Pasha (commander). During 1917 and 1918 Kemal Pasha was posted to the Caucasus front fighting the Russian forces with some success, and then to the Hejaz, where the Arab Revolt against Ottoman rule was in progress. He became increasingly critical of the incompetent conduct of the war by the Sultan s government, and also of German domination of the Empire. He resigned his command, but eventually agreed to return to command Ottoman forces in Palestine. In October 1918 the Ottomans capitulated to the Allies, and Kemal became one of the leaders of the party which favoured a policy of defending the Turkish speaking heartlands of the Empire, while agreeing to withdraw from all the non Turkish territories. Turkish nationalist sentiment was aroused by the Greek occupation of Izmir (Smyrna) in May 1919, in accordance with the Treaty of Sevres (this Treaty was signed by the Sultan under Allied duress but never ratified by the Ottoman parliament.) ... Tibet slowly went into a cataclysmic effect of destruction and disorder. The freedom of speech was now lost to the Tibetan people, freedom marches and movements were banned, the result in not complying with this unjust system was death or brutal imprisonment for years at a time. Even though these protests were violently suppressed by the Communist government and martial law was imposed in 1989, demonstrations against Chinese rule have nevertheless continued. Following Tibet s Liberation, Mao Zedong immediately established the Seventeen Point System, which totally eliminated Tibet s past independence. Since then, almost one and a half million people in Tibet have been slain, and over six thousand religious buildings have been demolished. A major part of Basso s interests in the Cibecue community is to study the role of silence in a community where focused gatherings are a common mode of public communication. He looks to examine situations where silence becomes the appropriate communicative process and the reasons why it is considered so. Moreover, these situations of silence only occur during a certain period or circumstance that is defined by tradition as well as experience. Another factor in Basso s interest is to define what human emotion determines the decision to remain silent in a particular situation. A discussion of Basso s definition of the term situation will be provided in the next section. Contextual Concepts In order to completely understand the arguments put forth by Basso in his research, it is vital to understand the concept that communication occurs with or without the usage of speech, and in this case through silence. Although the people engaged in this silence are not communicating directly per se, the silence is an acknowledgement of their presence. Engineers grew out of the ashes of the problems of the world. Software engineers deal with problems and maintenance in computer software. For a computer to find a solution to anything, programs have to be designed and written into the computer using models for the software process. Bernd Bruegge, in his presentation titled, Software Lifecycle Models, states a software process represents all the phases needed to create a program, from the study of the goals leading to the objective, to the maintenance of said goals and how the phases relate to one another. There are many different models used as guidelines to form the software process needed to create a program, but this paper will prove how the waterfall model performs the software process in the most reliable and user friendly fashion. The waterfall model will be defined and then compared to the V model, prototype model, and Boehm s spiral model, with all aspects in relation to software engineering. M. C.
