Counseling And Life Coaching Summary
The book begins with analyzing the different aspects of counseling and life coaching, as life coaching
is not a professional position, which follows along with, it is not indicative to counselling. The author
expresses the idea of life coaching is to better someone s life with the concepts they have identified,
establishing guidelines/goals the client wants to improve upon or change in their lives (Nelson Jones,
2007) It continues to explain how important exchanging information is in life coaching. This applies
to the client and the life coach (Nelson Jones,2007).
Nelson Jones, (2007) describes four areas that help a new coach to use and expand on improving their
life coaching standards. They include relating, understanding, changing, and

Social Skills Analysis
Analysis I decided to do my school counseling core curriculum lesson plan on social skills for grades
kindergarten and first. I choose social skills because it is one of the most important skills a person can
learn in their life time. Good social skills can go a long way. Social skills are important to teach at an
early age. The ages between 5 and 12 are critical to a child s social development (social skills). Social
development is taught by parents as well as teachers. Children also learn social skills on their own
when they interact with other. Knowing what social skills are is very important. According to Lynch

Destruction of the American Dream in Arthur Miller s Death of A Salesman
A white picket fence surrounds the tangible icons of the American Dreams in the middle 1900 s: a
mortgage, an automobile, a kitchen appliance paid for on the monthly installment plan, and a silver
trophy representative of high school football triumph. A pathetic tale examining the consequences of
man s harmartias, Arthur Miller s Death of A Salesman satisfies many, but not all, of the essential
elements of a tragedy. Reality peels away the thin layers of Willy Loman s American Dream; a dream
built on a lifetime of poor choices and false values.
Although the characters are not of noble birth nor possess a heroic nature nor experience a reversal of

For Biff, the idea of success is an easy loan from an ex employer he has stolen from; for Hap, success
is obtaining a promotion by waiting for the merchandise manager to die. Inevitably, the Loman s
unrealistic idea about success is one of the steps in their downfall.
Equally as damaging, the Loman family lacks the ability to make the necessary and suitable choices to
pursue the American Dream. Although Willy is skillful with his hands and believes a man who can t
handle tools is disgusting, he chooses a lifetime career as a salesman, based on the fanciful image of
his father who abandoned Willy as a child and on the image of an 84 year old salesman who dies alone
in a train car to Boston. Willy takes pride in the craftsmanship he put into their house, yet believes a
salesman such as his father is better than a carpenter. Furthermore, he questions the purpose of
building because some stranger ll come along, move in, and that s that. Ironically, Willy is a better
carpenter than a salesman. He boasts on what an impact he makes on his clients, but in reality one of
the reasons he has a sexual rendezvous with a secretary is to get through to the buyers. Willy makes
another poor choice because of his hubris, or false pride, when he turns down Charley s job offer.
Similarly, false pride and the inability to make appropriate choices lead to Hap and Biff choosing
unsuitable occupations.

Lean Manufacturing Is Not Just A Production Method
Introduction
Lean manufacturing is not just a production method. It is a way of life. One could say that it is simply
a way of providing customers what they want, at a price they can afford, when they want it (Leaning
Forward). However, it is much more than just satisfying the customer s needs.
Lean manufacturing originated after WWII in Japan to help revitalize their manufacturing industry.
The industry was booming in the United States because of the revolutionary invention of Henry Ford s
Model T and the creation of the flow production, but the lack of variety created demand and Toyota
answered that demand (Lean).
Kiichiro Toyoda and his team at Toyota realized by modifying the system they could make the process
have less wait periods ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pull Flow is the concept of a continuous flow of production and enables operators to identify and pull
defective products from the production line. Kaizen is the approach used by employees to implement
continuous improvements to a manufacturing process (Gembutsu).
Muda is the concept of wasting resources to create something with no value. The types of wasted
include over production time, inventory, transportation, process inefficiency, defects, and unnecessary
motion (Vorne Industries).
Jidoka is the process of identifying a defect before getting to the finished product and is accomplished
by automation. It is carried out by the automation knowing what a product defect is and alerting an
operator (Gembutsu).
Takt is the method used to align the customers demand with the production and is paced by using Takt
Time. Takt Time is the pace of production and is calculated by dividing production time by customer
demand (Gembutsu).
Procedures
The Spartan Assembly Line involved several processes. To start the assembly process the orders or the
colors of the cars were called out to the paint process. After the paint was applied to the car, the body
went to glass and then onto accessories, where the parts like the front grill were added.
While these processes were going on, two other processes were also going on. When the orders or
paint colors were called out, the chassis

The Formation Of Acc And Its Conversion Into Ethylene
The evolution of ACC also brings about the production of 5¢ methylthioadenosine nine. Increase in
the rate of respiration of the fruit gives ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) need for the methionine cycle
and can lead to induced ethylene production without high levels of intracellular methionine. SAM is a
crucial methyl giver and relates to numerous aspects of cellular metabolism. Thus, the two steps
involved in the synthesis of ethylene is the formation of ACC and its conversion into ethylene. The
genes encoding ACS and ACO have therefore been studied more deeply than other enzymes in the
pathway, although there is proof that a few other genes concerned with methionine synthesis and
methionine salvage pathway are differentially demonstrated throughout ripening and in response to
ethylene (Alba and others 2005; Zegzouti and others 1999). ACS and ACO are encoded by multigene
families in higher plants, with tomato having at most nine ACS (LEACS1A, LEACS1B, and LEACS2
8) and five ACO (LEACO1 5) genes (Barry and others 1996; Nakatsuka and others 1998; Oetiker and
others 1997; Van der Hoeven and others 2002; Zarembinski and Theologis 1994). Expression survey
has disclosed that at least four ACS (LEACS1A, LEACS2, LEACS4, LEACS6) and three ACO
(LEACO1, LEACO3, LEACO4) genes are differentially shown in tomato fruit (Barry and others
1996, 2000; Nakatsuka and others 1998; Rottmann and others 1991). LEACO1, LEACO3,
andLEACO4 are shown at low levels in green fruits that are in the first

The Relationship Between Parents And Children
According to Confucius, for a society to exist in peace and harmony, five great fundamental
relationships have to be respected. These relationships are of father and son, ruler and subject,
husband and wife, elder and younger and lastly but not least, parents and children. There were
appropriate attitudes or the Yi that people were expected to adopt. For instance, fathers were advised
to be kind to their sons and in return, the sons were supposed to be obedient and dutiful to their
fathers. Likewise, rulers were expected to be kind and generous to their subjects while subjects were
supposed to show total loyalty to their rulers. In marriage, a wife was expected to be obedient and
submissive to his husband while the husband was supposed to love and be good to his wife. Elders,
whether brothers or friends, were to be considerate towards their juniors, who in turn showed respect
towards their elders. The most important relationship in which almost the Chinese culture is based on
is the relationship between parents and children. Confucius believed that a smoothly functioning
family; made up of respectful children to parents, ancestors and relatives were a model for the Chinese
society as a whole. In effect, the nation was like a gigantic family. Just as the son was expected to be
loyal to his father, so a citizen was expected to be loyal to the emperor. If the families were in
harmony, society and government would also function properly. For Confucius, they believed that

Germany and the United Kingdom
Germany and the United Kingdom All countries in our world share many similarities and differences.
This allows each country to learn from one another s failures and successes. Two of the countries that
have similar and different ways that they run their country is Germany and the United Kingdom.
These countries each have their own style of how they choose to run their countries. Both Germany
and the United Kingdom are democracies in the world, however they have many differences between
the two. Germany has a constitution, simple branches of government, a complicated electoral system,
and interactive local government. On the other hand, the United Kingdom has no written constitution,
a complex branches of government, an intricate electoral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The political institutions in the United Kingdom are very different of those in Germany. The United
Kingdom does not have a written constitution (The British Constitution). This means that unlike
Germany and the United States, the United Kingdom does not have a tangible paper that has the basic
laws and rights written down on them for all citizens. The constitution is generally understood to
include a number of written documents and unwritten rules that most British citizens view as
inviolable (O Neil, Fields, Share). The United Kingdom bases their constitution on documents that
have developed in the past. Power lies with Parliament in the United Kingdom, so without a written
constitution, the people of the state truly do not get much of a say. Therefore, from a political
institution standpoint, these two countries could not be any more different from one another.
Branches of government vary from country to country. In Germany, there is a chancellor, a president,
the Bundestag, and the Bundestrat. The chancellor is in charge of the whole executive branch, and the
president is just the chief of state (The British Constitution). The chancellor is also the prime minister
and runs basically everything in the government, while the president tends to just do a few important
things, but does not make important decisions. Germany has a bicameral legislature which includes

How Did Castles Change Throughout The Middle Ages
During the Middle Ages, castles were extremely important. Castles were either a peaceful home for
nobles, knights and their servants or a busy military command centre. Because castles were such
important features of the Middle Ages, it makes sense that they would last nearly the whole period of
time and beyond. The Middle Ages lasted from 476ce through to the renaissance, which lasted from
the 14th 17th century. Throughout the Middle Ages the styles of fighting and defence changed, which
also meant that the designs of castles changed to support the new techniques of war. Castles were
introduced after William the Conqueror introduced feudalism after winning the battle of the Hastings
in 1066ce. Feudalism was the social organization of Medieval

differences was information sharing and privacy, giving criticism and getting feedback, and making
remarks about someone s appearance. The two cultural patterns or types discussed in the film was
collectivist (deaf culture), versus the individualist (hearing culture). The aspect of the film that caught
my attention the most was when they showed how the hearing culture and the deaf culture approached

Nafta Tariff Barriers
In poster #1 you can see that with tariffs down means trade will increase. This is represented by the
words tariff and trade. The word tariff is written in red to signify a negative connotation, it also has an
arrow pointing down meaning that the tariffs are lowering. The word trade is in green for a positive
connotation and has an arrow pointing up to mean that trade is increasing because of the lowered
tariffs. An increase in trade is what stimulates countries benefitting off comparative advantages. This
increase in trade has had many benefits for all countries involved. With an increase in trade the price
of goods in America decreases, making it easier for low income households to afford the products they
need. Not only are the prices lower but with the rise in competition the quality of the goods and
services are increased as well. This is demonstrated in poster #2, which says that low prices means
happy consumers. The meaning of the poster is that because of lower prices more consumers can lead
happier lives. NAFTA is not only improving trade but quality of life. ... Show more content on

Because of this trade between these neighboring countries has quadrupled in the last twenty years, as
shown in Poster #3. Having almost no barriers means more opportunity for comparative advantages. A
comparative advantage is when a certain country has a lower opportunity cost for production of a
certain good or service. An Opportunity cost is what is given up in order to use a country s resources
to do one thing instead of another. Which means the country can make more of that good/service than
other countries while using less resources. Therefore when a country has a comparative advantage
they should put more of their resources for production into that good or service. This helps out all
economies involved because using specialization will help have high quality goods and services for

The Policy Of The Federal Government Should Enact Based On...

Debate as a Life
Background History of Debate In my sophomore year of highschool, I joined the policy debate club.
Policy debate was an intensive academic activity where teams of two would engage in discussions on
the best government s policy to enact. There would be two teams in each debate round: affirmative or
negative. The affirmative would have to propose a policy that the U.S federal government should
enact based on their constructed advantages for implementation. After that speech, the negative team
would have to make arguments, for examples, kritiks, disadvantages, and counterplans, to refute the
implementation of the plan. Throughout an almost two hour debate round, both teams will try to speak
almost 500 words per minute in order to respond to arguments. As one can imagine, debate is fast
paced activity that boils down to which team can best defend their arguments. Within in this debate
round, there would be a judge to decide the winner. Flow: Difference between Exotelic and Autotelic
The concept of flow in occupational science is described as an autotelic experience where an
individual is fully engaged under a high challenge activity. Often times, one may lose sense of time
due to high level of concentration. My engagement with debate did not begin with an autotelic
experience, but I was introduced by my friends to a debate camp that paid students $400 dollars each
to learn the structure of policy debate. This

BACKGROUND

On June 18, 1971, Southwest Airlines, headquartered at Love Field in Dallas, began flying with three
Boeing 737 aircraft serving the Texas cities of Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio.
Southwest s competition was Texas International and Braniff, and, to a lesser extent,
Continental. Continental used every political and regulatory means to ensure that Southwest would not
get off the ground, including keeping Southwest out of the recently built Dallas Fort
Worth airport and waging a four year legal battle that left Southwest almost bankrupt at the time of its
first flight. One outcome of the legal battle was the so called Wright Amendment, named after James
Wright, then Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Wright Amendment prohibited any air
carrier from offering direct service into Love Field from any place beyond
Texas and the four contiguous states of Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, and New Mexico. This law
meant that passengers flying into Southwest s central location at Love Field from

The Correlation Between Media And Politics
If people from the 1800 s were asked what the correlation between media and politics was many
would think that there was no such thing. Back in the day people did not have all these advancements
we have today. If candidates wanted to get elected they had to be in good terms with the public. If they
wanted the votes they had to convince they were fit for the job. Media is defined as the main mean of
communication. Everywhere a person goes they are bombarded with media. People watch movies,
television, read the new paper, blogs and books. Media is all around us. In today s society everything
revolves around technology. It is a good thing and a bad thing all at once. People don t really speak to

They rarely watch news because all the news they need are the ones who are on being announced on
online. Since there is a large about of people who owns smartphones who also have a camera and a
screen keyboard id they see something of their interest or something unusual happening they I ll
probably whip out their phones and snap a quick picture. What happens when people do such thing is
that they are creating bias. It is very difficult to be unbiased and be neutral. For example people on
Facebook who do not like a candidate will post a status and go off on how they hate him or her and
provide their own opinion. There are times were the person only goes off of what they heard. People
are quick to judge a person why what they hear or by reading non scholarly articles. A person has look
for flaws in what they are consuming for example put yourself in the other person position. Seeing if
the person is actually trustworthy and they are not spreading lies. The first thing many adults a tell
teenagers is that not everything that they see in the internet is true. In politics today media is being
used a lot more in presidential elections. The media has been helpful regarding getting information
further to a greater audience. Although people do not agree with the fact that social media does not
play a big role in today s election just because media doesn t have anything to do with politics. Media

Animal Testing Is Necessary
Is it really necessary for animals to be used for medical research? This question still remains, yet to be
answered. It is a matter of opinion one would think. However if you look closer there is a lot more to
it than opinion. People that feel sorry for animals usually are the ones that don t agree with animal
testing. That is where it starts. Scientists use animal testing as a way to find cures. Animal testing
helps them figure out what will work and not work on humans. It helps find cures faster and prevent
deaths. Although some people believe that is true, I have a different opinion on it all. This testing hasn

Most of the animals used for research are rats, mice, and hamsters. Sometimes dogs, cats, goats,

Some people believe that research involving animals is essential to improving the health of humans.

The Employment Status Of Workers Essay
INTRODUCTION
It is certainly true that the current law defining the employment status of workers is uncertain, as it is
wholly inflexible to deal effectively with cases of non standard forms of employment, atypical
workers, for example: agency workers, part time workers, fixed term workers, as required workers and
homeworkers. Thus, reform is necessary to redress the concerns of lack of legal certainty in relation to
this area of the law.
This essay will argue that the concept of worker defined under section 230 of the Employment Rights
Act ( ERA ) 1996 is board; however, due to the undefined scope of section 230(3) of ERA 1996,
employment tribunals and the courts have adapted a rigid approach in their interpretation; that there is
a high degree of legal uncertainty as established in this area of law; that the law does not adequately
deal with non standard forms of workers ; present proposals for reform by the UK Parliament on the
interpretation and application of law at common; and finally provide a conclusion for the arguments
put forth.
THE CURRENT STATE OF THE LAW Firstly, employment tribunals and the courts have interpreted
the concept of workers too narrowly, by limiting the common law interpretation of workers under
section 230(3) of the ERA 1996 and rights conferred on workers. Under section 230(3) ERA 1996,
worker is defined as an individual who has entered into work: under a contract of employment, or any

Essay On Should Athletes Get Paid Too Much
To be successful in today s society, there is one word that comes to mind, money. Money controls
people, motivates people, and is essentially the drive for many of the decisions a person makes in their
life. The American government does what they can to make success possible for the majority of
citizens, yet over 46 million Americans are living in poverty. How can it be that the wealthiest nation
in the world has so many people living in poverty? What is all of our money being put towards? While
there are many good answers for this question, one is in the corrupt world of professional athlete

So it would make sense that these people deserve salaries that put them above everybody on the
wealth scale. These people are required to spend a large amount of money and time to get where they
are, so why do they make just a fraction of what athletes make? To be more specific, an average
doctor has to work everyday for 76 years to make what professional boxer Floyd Mayweather makes
in a single fight, even if he loses. A backup quarterback may never play a single snap in a game but he
still will make three times as much as surgeon on average. If that isn t enough, how about the fact that
in one week the Brooklyn Nets starting five players make just slightly less than all nine supreme court
justices make in a year. There is no doubt that athletes do spend just as much time and money, if not
more, as those who have professional occupations, but it all comes down to what each occupation
group really does for the country. Our country simply could not function without people like Doctors,
Surgeons, Engineers, and government officials, and while we may think we could not function without
sports, we could. So why should a occupation that does nothing but entertain people make much more
than the people that keep the country

John F Kennedy Jfk Assassination Analysis
Political assassinations tend to cause an uproar in society. They have been around since the beginning
of politics. The definition of assassination means to kill someone of importance for political or
religious reasons. Well known people that have been assassinated are Archduke Franz Ferdinand,
Martin Luther King Jr., and Abraham Lincoln. Political assassinations have also been expressed in
literature as well. Many books, recent and ancient, have been written about assassinating a public
figure. The assassination of the 35th president, John F. Kennedy, can be related to the assassination of
the fictional King Duncan of Scotland in Shakespeare s Macbeth through analysis of literature and
historical events. John F. Kennedy was born on May 29, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The biggest theory was that there were multiple shooters, one in a building and one shooting from a
grassy knoll. Other people believe that the mafia or some higher power was involved with the
assassination by making Oswald take the blame and then kill him before he talked. The Warren
Commission was in charge of investigating the murder, and ruled that there was only the single
gunman, Lee Harvey Oswald. Despite the Warren Commission s statement,Americans still came to
their own conclusions about how Kennedy s death took place,( Assassination of John F. Kennedy ).
King Duncan s assassination was similar to John F. Kennedy s, yet not so public. Duncan was killed
by Macbeth with a knife while he was sleeping after dinner. He had been visiting Macbeth s residence
in celebration of Macbeth s new title of Thane of Cawdor. Macbeth, already power hungry for the
thrown, decided to murder the king for his power. Macbeth then framed the guards and gave the
evidence to Lady Macbeth to dispose of. The next morning, the body of the late king was discovered
along with the bodies of his guards, to which Macbeth explained that he killed out of rage for killing

Evaluation Of The Boot Camps
Introduction Boot camps became a force to be reckoned with in the 1980s. It was at first imagined as a
powerful apparatus for settling behavioral issues of high schoolers. This approach was gotten from the
military style of rectifying the conduct of blundering individuals from the military. Boot camps for
young people have turned into a well known disciplinary alternative for guardians with juvenile kids.
Regularly prescribed by instructors or by state equity frameworks as a contrasting option to adolescent
confinement focuses, the boot camps are unbending military situations. Some are wild camps that
show youngsters ingrained instincts in a military like setting, while others are held nearer to
home.Youth camps are short projects that may last from 3 to 6 months. The juvenile is usually housed
in an office alongside other youth guilty parties. Surrounded in a prison like atmosphere, the goal of
these camps are to produce youth that are productive in everyday life. Juvenile delinquency is one of
the additionally glaring issues confronting the children of this generation. At present, the quantity of
juveniles everywhere throughout the world has developed into disturbing extents. Adolescent
misconduct happens amid pre adulthood, a period which is set apart by a move from adolescence to
adulthood. At this phase of their lives, they begin to end up distinctly free and far from the direction of
their folks. In spite of the fact that the young is recognized as the holder of the

Bravery In The Outsiders
The outsiders. An astonishing book, written by S. E. Hinton in 1967. It shows how teenagers have to
deal with change 50 years ago. And it is still very relatable today, the outsiders show many forms of
bravery, Like physical bravery when people jump in to save someone, moral bravery; to do what s
right. Even if it s unpopular. Moral courage. To do what s morally correct. And this book has some
amazing examples of all of these. Darry is a Greaser and will defend his brothers from the socs that
are not as nice. Darry is an outstanding role model, Darry is brave and shows heroism. Even after
both, his parents are dead. Takes care of his brothers and Ponyboy, sacrificed his own education to
school get a job and also make sure that the council didn t split all apart and into homes. He saved
Ponyboy and Johnny from the fire. Even though he was hurt himself he would do anything in his
power to help his brothers. Even if he can t show it through his own words. He is willing to fight to
protect the ones he cares about, and that is what I can safely consider bravery. ... Show more content

A Research Study On Business Education
Running head: LEVERAGING RESEARCH TOENHANCE UNDERGRADUATE BUSINESS
EDUCATION 1
Leveraging research to enhance undergraduate business education
Luke Maass
Northwest Missouri State University
Authors note
This paper was prepared for
Student involvement in research activities in U.S. business schools used to be primarily offered to
graduate students. However, many universities are now offering undergraduate research opportunities
that can provide students with a deep understanding of the academic environment. Research allows the
exploration and questioning of significant issues in today s world.
This type of learning can provide students with more understanding than can be taught in a classroom
or read in a textbook. Research challenges students to engage in the process of identifying and
evaluating major issues and trends impacting businesses and society. Students also explore potential
business implications that can drive innovation (The Boyer Commission). One goal of business school
research is to enhance the prestige of the business school where the research is done. There is evidence
that research does achieve that goal, as research has, historically, been regarded as the primary
determinant of a school s prestige (Armstrong, 1995: 103). For example, Business Week magazine has
added a research influence measure in its ratings of business schools. If a school scores highly on that
measure, it enhances the overall prestige ranking.

Pros And Cons Of Acne Vulgaris

Can you remember what it really was like to be a teenager? Acne breakouts can consume your daily
life, peer pressure, teasing, and the continuous inundation of how society thinks weve got to all look, it
can be a lot for a teen. Maybe your among those adults who carries severe acne clear into adulthood.
Being a teen or a grown up with Acne may be hard, but theres help available. Acne Vulgaris,
commonly referred to as acne, impacts almost 17 million individuals in the United States alone. This
common condition of the skin turns up as different types of bumps on the skin. They include things
like Whiteheads, Blackheads, Pimples, and bumps that are filled with pus called Pustules and in the
most severe cases youre going to get Nodules and Cysts. It normally shows up on the face, neck,
shoulders, upper back, and chest. Teens and children get acne as a result of hormone changes that
come while developing through puberty. As your body starts to produce, these hormones stimulate the
sebaceous glands to produce more sebum, and the glands may become overactive. If you have too
much sebum, that oil clogs up the pores and results in acne. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

not attributable to a lack of cleanliness or your not washing enough. Actually quite the contrary,
washing to much might make your outbreaks even worse. Additionally it is not a result of chocolates
or to much greasy junk food. There are many factors that may play a role with regards to developing
Acne. Acne forms when a pore or follicle opening gets blocked with either dirt, dead skin cells or

Education gives us knowledge of the world around us. Education is not only about what we learn in
our textbook as students but about the lessons we learn from those text books. It helps students
develop a perspective on how to look at life. Education is the basic foundation for every one. It is
instrumental in the development of our values and virtues. The future of our nation is safe in the hands
of educated individuals, which is why they say our children are our future . Education is attached to

This puts them at a disadvantage, when compared to the students who go to some good private
schools. It s sad to have to put it that way but it s the truth. The socioeconomic status of the parent has
a lot to do with this. APA states Low SES and its correlates, such as lower education, poverty, and
poor health, ultimately affect our society as a whole, in particular, America s children. Children in the
United States face one of the highest rates of poverty within the industrialized world. If a parent
spends hours at work to make ends meet then that takes away from parent involvement in home
assignments. The parents also influence on the attitude the child brings to school and how important
school is to the student. The values of school start at home, if a parent doesn t believe that school is
important factor in an adult s life then that rubs off on the student, they carry that same attitude about
school.
Economic hardships manifest a number of challenges. From having a stable home, basic needs to
medical care, all these things create challenges for students and teachers as well. This goes to show
how easily students who come from poverty have a higher chance of not finishing school and facing
many obstacles while in school making it so much more difficult for them.
Since students have become much more

Lynch Syndrome
Lynch syndrome, previously known as hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC) is a
parental inherited condition that exposes a person to the risks of cancers, but most commonly colon
cancer1 9. It is a heterozygous autosomal dominant genetic condition, which means that if only one
parent carries the gene for Lynch syndrome (LS), then a 50 percent chance of passing on the mutation
will be passed to each child1 9. LS is limited to families with a known pathogenic germline mutation2.
A germline mutation is when mutations occur in the germ line, which is a group of cells that
contribute to the improvement of gametes2,3,10. To find out how individuals are to contract this
disease, the family medical history must be taken into account. Early ... Show more content on

The first role is that there is a predisposition to cancer development, meaning that a mutation in Mlh1
or Msh2 provide alternate causes for LS2,5. These mutations are distinguished because of the presence
of CpG islands and following transcriptional loss of single genetic alleles of the affected gene, which
results in the comparison of a heterozygous mutation2,10. CpG islands are clusters of the sequence
CG which may be gathered near promoter regions in a gene10. Another role is when the Lynch
associated tumors developed as a result a somatic loss of function of the last normal allele of the
mutated gene2. Somatic loss of function is a genetic change that takes place in a somatic cell, but the
change is not aquired2,10. Finally, the last role is the role of more derived epigenetic changes that may
be gained to assist the growth and advancement of associated Lynch tumors2. The studies of these
roles have shown that tumor suppressor genes occur within Lynch syndrome

Essay on Private Motivations for War in The Iliad
Private Motivations for War in The Iliad
Wars are often complex in nature and are fought for diverse reasons.
In the Iliad, powerful gods, great nations, and heroic people all fight for
different reasons. Each has private motivations to fight the war. These
private motivations are of special interest, because they help define the
consequences and outcomes of the war. The universal war of the gods, social
war of the Greeks and Trojans, and the war for Achilles honor are private
motivations of the Trojan war. These private motivations seem to influence
and shape each other in many distinct ways.

This intervention by Zeus
lead to another outbreak of war between the Greeks and Trojans. The universal
war of Athena and Hera versus Aphrodite had Zeus so caught up in it that he did
not want the social war to end. A god in the universal war once again created
the social war between Troy and Greece. The universal war was the cause of the
social war of Greece and Troy.
The private war of Achilles honor was an outgrowth of the social war
between the Greeks and the Trojans. During the social war, Apollo grew angry at
the Greeks for the abuse of his priest, Chryses. The Greeks had abused Chryses
when Agamemnon took Chryses daughter, Chryseis, during the raid of the town
of Thebes. Agamemnon wanted a replacement for Chryseis, so he took Briseis from
Achilles. This deeply wounded the honor of Achilles, and he decided to stop
fighting in the social war until his honor was amended. Achilles was angered by
an event that occurred in the social war, thus providing the need for Achilles
to reclaim his honor. The social war was the cause of the private war of
Achilles. The opportunity for Achilles to carry out his private war came after
the death of his comrade, Patroclus. Because Achilles would not fight,
Patroclus asked him if he could wear his armor. Patroclus thought

Essay on Voting should be an obligation not a choice
Voting should be an obligation not an option
Living in America gives each person individual freedom. The freedom is yours to express your own
opinion and to vote. Whether or not we choose to exercise these rights is the decision that every
American citizen makes. Participating in our government is the single most important power that we
as Americans have. Whether it is to elect officials or to amend a law, voting is not only a necessity, but
a responsibility. It is frightening how many of us today have closed ourselves off from the so vital
process of learning about candidates for office and making our voting selections based on actual
information (as opposed to sound bites and attack ads) and/or not voting at all.

Currently, there are 17 states allowing certain elections to be held by mail. As of today, there are 27
states that offer no excuse absentee voting, allowing any registered voter to request an absentee ballot
without requiring that the voter state a reason for his/her desire to vote absentee. (Wendy Underhill)
If you are not going to participate in electing the officials, then you should not have the opportunity or
privilege in criticizing how they do their job. Some people argue that non voters do not vote because
they are happy with the government. This does not seem to be the case. The 1996 National Election
Study showed that nonvoters were less positive than voters.
There are a variety of characteristics between nonvoters and voters. Citizens with a college degree are
more likely to vote than people without a college degree. Older people are also more likely than
younger people to vote. Polls show that young people are more dissatisfied with the government than
older citizens are. Then why don t younger people vote? Some do not vote because they do not know
who to vote for. A quarter of nonvoter s will lie on polls saying that they did vote. If you are going to
be ashamed by not voting and afraid to tell someone why, then you should vote. It is very simple.
Democracy is starting to be weakened by low turnout at the polls. Steps need to be taken to help

How Did The Gold Rush Shape Australian History

US history.
13. Sept. 2014
Mr. Patton.
How did the Gold Rush shape Australian history?
The Australian gold rush began in May 1851, when Edward Hargraves claimed that he had discovered
gold near Bathurst. After the Australians had heard this news, most of them packed up their
belongings and left to go to Bathurst and mine for gold, hoping to get rich and wealthy.
When the Australian Gold Rush began, many immigrates came to Australia, all of whom contributed
their own cultural influences. This was the start of multiculturalism. The Chinese came and mostly all
of them stayed in Australia and built businesses in the towns, once the main gold deposits were mined
out.
There was a huge increase in the population. In 1851, Australia s population was 437,655. By the end
of the gold rush, 1861, Australia s population was doubled. But sadly after the gold rush, many of the

  • 3. Social Skills Analysis Analysis I decided to do my school counseling core curriculum lesson plan on social skills for grades kindergarten and first. I choose social skills because it is one of the most important skills a person can learn in their life time. Good social skills can go a long way. Social skills are important to teach at an early age. The ages between 5 and 12 are critical to a child s social development (social skills). Social development is taught by parents as well as teachers. Children also learn social skills on their own when they interact with other. Knowing what social skills are is very important. • 4. Destruction of the American Dream in Arthur Miller s... Destruction of the American Dream in Arthur Miller s Death of A Salesman A white picket fence surrounds the tangible icons of the American Dreams in the middle 1900 s: a mortgage, an automobile, a kitchen appliance paid for on the monthly installment plan, and a silver trophy representative of high school football triumph. A pathetic tale examining the consequences of man s harmartias, Arthur Miller s Death of A Salesman satisfies many, but not all, of the essential elements of a tragedy. Reality peels away the thin layers of Willy Loman s American Dream; a dream built on a lifetime of poor choices and false values. Although the characters are not of noble birth nor possess a heroic nature nor experience a reversal of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For Biff, the idea of success is an easy loan from an ex employer he has stolen from; for Hap, success is obtaining a promotion by waiting for the merchandise manager to die. Inevitably, the Loman s unrealistic idea about success is one of the steps in their downfall. Equally as damaging, the Loman family lacks the ability to make the necessary and suitable choices to pursue the American Dream. Although Willy is skillful with his hands and believes a man who can t handle tools is disgusting, he chooses a lifetime career as a salesman, based on the fanciful image of his father who abandoned Willy as a child and on the image of an 84 year old salesman who dies alone in a train car to Boston. Willy takes pride in the craftsmanship he put into their house, yet believes a salesman such as his father is better than a carpenter. Furthermore, he questions the purpose of building because some stranger ll come along, move in, and that s that. Ironically, Willy is a better carpenter than a salesman. He boasts on what an impact he makes on his clients, but in reality one of the reasons he has a sexual rendezvous with a secretary is to get through to the buyers. Willy makes another poor choice because of his hubris, or false pride, when he turns down Charley s job offer. Similarly, false pride and the inability to make appropriate choices lead to Hap and Biff choosing unsuitable occupations. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Lean Manufacturing Is Not Just A Production Method Introduction Lean manufacturing is not just a production method. It is a way of life. One could say that it is simply a way of providing customers what they want, at a price they can afford, when they want it (Leaning Forward). However, it is much more than just satisfying the customer s needs. Lean manufacturing originated after WWII in Japan to help revitalize their manufacturing industry. The industry was booming in the United States because of the revolutionary invention of Henry Ford s Model T and the creation of the flow production, but the lack of variety created demand and Toyota answered that demand (Lean). Kiichiro Toyoda and his team at Toyota realized by modifying the system they could make the process have less wait periods ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pull Flow is the concept of a continuous flow of production and enables operators to identify and pull defective products from the production line. Kaizen is the approach used by employees to implement continuous improvements to a manufacturing process (Gembutsu). Muda is the concept of wasting resources to create something with no value. Jidoka is the process of identifying a defect before getting to the finished product and is accomplished by automation. It is carried out by the automation knowing what a product defect is and alerting an operator (Gembutsu). Takt Time is the pace of production and is calculated by dividing production time by customer demand (Gembutsu). Procedures The Spartan Assembly Line involved several processes. To start the assembly process the orders or the colors of the cars were called out to the paint process. • 6. The Formation Of Acc And Its Conversion Into Ethylene The evolution of ACC also brings about the production of 5¢ methylthioadenosine nine. Increase in the rate of respiration of the fruit gives ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) need for the methionine cycle and can lead to induced ethylene production without high levels of intracellular methionine. SAM is a crucial methyl giver and relates to numerous aspects of cellular metabolism. Thus, the two steps involved in the synthesis of ethylene is the formation of ACC and its conversion into ethylene. The genes encoding ACS and ACO have therefore been studied more deeply than other enzymes in the pathway, although there is proof that a few other genes concerned with methionine synthesis and methionine salvage pathway are differentially demonstrated throughout ripening and in response to ethylene (Alba and others 2005; Zegzouti and others 1999). ACS and ACO are encoded by multigene families in higher plants, with tomato having at most nine ACS (LEACS1A, LEACS1B, and LEACS2 8) and five ACO (LEACO1 5) genes (Barry and others 1996; Nakatsuka and others 1998; Oetiker and others 1997; Van der Hoeven and others 2002; Zarembinski and Theologis 1994). Expression survey has disclosed that at least four ACS (LEACS1A, LEACS2, LEACS4, LEACS6) and three ACO (LEACO1, LEACO3, LEACO4) genes are differentially shown in tomato fruit (Barry and others 1996, 2000; Nakatsuka and others 1998; Rottmann and others 1991). • 7. The Relationship Between Parents And Children According to Confucius, for a society to exist in peace and harmony, five great fundamental relationships have to be respected. These relationships are of father and son, ruler and subject, husband and wife, elder and younger and lastly but not least, parents and children. There were appropriate attitudes or the Yi that people were expected to adopt. For instance, fathers were advised to be kind to their sons and in return, the sons were supposed to be obedient and dutiful to their fathers. Likewise, rulers were expected to be kind and generous to their subjects while subjects were supposed to show total loyalty to their rulers. In marriage, a wife was expected to be obedient and submissive to his husband while the husband was supposed to love and be good to his wife. Elders, whether brothers or friends, were to be considerate towards their juniors, who in turn showed respect towards their elders. The most important relationship in which almost the Chinese culture is based on is the relationship between parents and children. Confucius believed that a smoothly functioning family; made up of respectful children to parents, ancestors and relatives were a model for the Chinese society as a whole. In effect, the nation was like a gigantic family. Just as the son was expected to be loyal to his father, so a citizen was expected to be loyal to the emperor. If the families were in harmony, society and government would also function properly. For Confucius, they believed that man ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The political institutions in the United Kingdom are very different of those in Germany. The United Kingdom does not have a written constitution (The British Constitution). This means that unlike Germany and the United States, the United Kingdom does not have a tangible paper that has the basic laws and rights written down on them for all citizens. The constitution is generally understood to include a number of written documents and unwritten rules that most British citizens view as inviolable (O Neil, Fields, Share). The United Kingdom bases their constitution on documents that have developed in the past. Power lies with Parliament in the United Kingdom, so without a written constitution, the people of the state truly do not get much of a say. Therefore, from a political institution standpoint, these two countries could not be any more different from one another. Branches of government vary from country to country. In Germany, there is a chancellor, a president, the Bundestag, and the Bundestrat. The chancellor is in charge of the whole executive branch, and the president is just the chief of state (The British Constitution). The Middle Ages lasted from 476ce through to the renaissance, which lasted from the 14th 17th century. The word tariff is written in red to signify a negative connotation, it also has an arrow pointing down meaning that the tariffs are lowering. The word trade is in green for a positive connotation and has an arrow pointing up to mean that trade is increasing because of the lowered tariffs. An increase in trade is what stimulates countries benefitting off comparative advantages. This increase in trade has had many benefits for all countries involved. With an increase in trade the price of goods in America decreases, making it easier for low income households to afford the products they need. Not only are the prices lower but with the rise in competition the quality of the goods and services are increased as well. Weimin Deng (Tuesday Section) Debate as a Life Background History of Debate In my sophomore year of highschool, I joined the policy debate club. Policy debate was an intensive academic activity where teams of two would engage in discussions on the best government s policy to enact. There would be two teams in each debate round: affirmative or negative. The affirmative would have to propose a policy that the U.S federal government should enact based on their constructed advantages for implementation. After that speech, the negative team would have to make arguments, for examples, kritiks, disadvantages, and counterplans, to refute the implementation of the plan. Throughout an almost two hour debate round, both teams will try to speak almost 500 words per minute in order to respond to arguments. As one can imagine, debate is fast paced activity that boils down to which team can best defend their arguments. Within in this debate round, there would be a judge to decide the winner. Thus, reform is necessary to redress the concerns of lack of legal certainty in relation to this area of the law. This essay will argue that the concept of worker defined under section 230 of the Employment Rights Act ( ERA ) 1996 is board; however, due to the undefined scope of section 230(3) of ERA 1996, employment tribunals and the courts have adapted a rigid approach in their interpretation; that there is a high degree of legal uncertainty as established in this area of law; that the law does not adequately deal with non standard forms of workers ; present proposals for reform by the UK Parliament on the interpretation and application of law at common; and finally provide a conclusion for the arguments put forth. • 31. A Research Study On Business Education Running head: LEVERAGING RESEARCH TOENHANCE UNDERGRADUATE BUSINESS EDUCATION 1 Leveraging research to enhance undergraduate business education Luke Maass Northwest Missouri State University Authors note This paper was prepared for Student involvement in research activities in U.S. business schools used to be primarily offered to graduate students. However, many universities are now offering undergraduate research opportunities that can provide students with a deep understanding of the academic environment. Research allows the exploration and questioning of significant issues in today s world. This type of learning can provide students with more understanding than can be taught in a classroom or read in a textbook. Research challenges students to engage in the process of identifying and evaluating major issues and trends impacting businesses and society. Students also explore potential business implications that can drive innovation (The Boyer Commission). One goal of business school research is to enhance the prestige of the business school where the research is done. There is evidence that research does achieve that goal, as research has, historically, been regarded as the primary determinant of a school s prestige (Armstrong, 1995: 103). For example, Business Week magazine has added a research influence measure in its ratings of business schools. If a school scores highly on that measure, it enhances the overall prestige ranking. ... The socioeconomic status of the parent has a lot to do with this. APA states Low SES and its correlates, such as lower education, poverty, and poor health, ultimately affect our society as a whole, in particular, America s children. Children in the United States face one of the highest rates of poverty within the industrialized world. If a parent spends hours at work to make ends meet then that takes away from parent involvement in home assignments. The parents also influence on the attitude the child brings to school and how important school is to the student. The values of school start at home, if a parent doesn t believe that school is important factor in an adult s life then that rubs off on the student, they carry that same attitude about school. Economic hardships manifest a number of challenges. From having a stable home, basic needs to medical care, all these things create challenges for students and teachers as well. • 35. Lynch Syndrome Lynch syndrome, previously known as hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC) is a parental inherited condition that exposes a person to the risks of cancers, but most commonly colon cancer1 9. It is a heterozygous autosomal dominant genetic condition, which means that if only one parent carries the gene for Lynch syndrome (LS), then a 50 percent chance of passing on the mutation will be passed to each child1 9. LS is limited to families with a known pathogenic germline mutation2. A germline mutation is when mutations occur in the germ line, which is a group of cells that contribute to the improvement of gametes2,3,10. The first role is that there is a predisposition to cancer development, meaning that a mutation in Mlh1 or Msh2 provide alternate causes for LS2,5. These mutations are distinguished because of the presence of CpG islands and following transcriptional loss of single genetic alleles of the affected gene, which results in the comparison of a heterozygous mutation2,10. CpG islands are clusters of the sequence CG which may be gathered near promoter regions in a gene10. Another role is when the Lynch associated tumors developed as a result a somatic loss of function of the last normal allele of the mutated gene2. Somatic loss of function is a genetic change that takes place in a somatic cell, but the change is not aquired2,10. Finally, the last role is the role of more derived epigenetic changes that may be gained to assist the growth and advancement of associated Lynch tumors2. Some people argue that non voters do not vote because they are happy with the government. This does not seem to be the case. The 1996 National Election Study showed that nonvoters were less positive than voters. There are a variety of characteristics between nonvoters and voters. Citizens with a college degree are more likely to vote than people without a college degree. Older people are also more likely than younger people to vote.
