The document describes testing of a fluidized bed sand cooler for foundry sand reclamation. A 20 kg batch scaled test rig was fabricated to test the cooling of sand. Parameters like sand quantity, temperature, and holding time were optimized using Taguchi methods. Testing found that a combination of 650°C temperature, 25 minutes holding time, and 15 kg sand quantity provided optimal cooling time and grain size for foundry use. The reclaimed sand properties met standards for foundry sand. The fluidized bed cooler shows potential for effective sand reclamation in foundries.
