Experimental and Analytical Investigation on Strength Properties of Concrete ...HARISH B A
The experiment work carried out by micro silica as a supplementary material for cement and evaluate
cement for M20 grade of concrete. We are adding 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% by weight of cement in concrete. The
material chosen for structural up gradation should not pollute the environment. They should be accessible to the
ordinary people and low monetary cost. Coconut fibre is abundant, versatile, renewable, cheap and more resistant
thermal conductivity. Coconut fibres have the highest toughness amongst natural fibre. They have potential to be used
as reinforcement in low cost concrete structures, especially in tropical earth quake region. The aim of investigation is
study the possibilities to use coconut fibre in addition to other constituents of concrete and strength properties. The
influence of 1%, 2% and 3% fibre content by mass of cement and aspect ratio 125, fibre cut length 2.80cm is
investigated. To evaluate the effect of coconut fibres improving the properties of concrete. At 1% addition of coconut
fibre, 5% silica fume with water cement ratio 0.53. compressive strength test and split tensile strength gives best result

The Coupled Effect of Nano Silica and Superplasticizer on Concrete Fresh and ...IJMER
The The effect of individual and combined additions of both nano silica (NS) and
polycarboxylate-ether superplasticizer (SP) admixtures on concrete mixes were studied. Twenty concrete
mixes were prepared, keeping the water/cement ratio constant at w/c = 0.40, with different amounts of
SP admixture, and NS. the superplasticizer was studied in the range of (0 – 0.88)% (over cement weight),
nano silica additions were tested at (0 – 3.00)% range (over cement weight). Early, and late
compressive strengths, as well as results of fresh concrete (slump) test of formulations were evaluated by
means of design of experiments, in order to identify the primary factors and their interactions on the
measured properties. The most desirable NS and SP % were determined. The results showed that
regardless of the used NS percentage, the higher compressive strength results were reached at, or
around SP observed saturation dosage (0.66% by weight cement). The statistical approach applied here
enabled to develop relations, which could adequately describe the dependency of both the compressive
strength, and slump on the composition of NS, and SP concretes. These relations were presented as
contour plots, which from a practical point of view could serve as a basis for mix design

This paper reports the effect of high volume of GGBS on the properties of structural
concrete. In this study, GGBS is physically and chemically characterized and partially
replaced in the ratio of 10% to 90% by weight of cement. The fresh properties of GGBS
concrete like slump test and hardened properties like compressive strength, Split tensile
strength, Modulus of Elasticity are carried out. In addition to this the carbon foot prints are
also calculated and the savings per capita per year is determined for reduction of usage of
cement. The test results indicated that fresh and hardened properties of the GGBS concrete
increases as the percentage of replacement of GGBS increases up to certain extent
Comparative Study of Mechanical Properties of Self - Healing Concrete Using I...IJERA Editor
Cracks in concrete are the main reason for a decreased service life of concrete structures. It is therefore more
advisable and economical to restrict the development of early age small cracks the moment they appear, than to
repair them after they have developed to large cracks. A promising way is to pre-add healing agents (Methyl
methacrylate) to the concrete to heal early age cracks when they appear, i.e. the so-called self-healing approach.
By this approach, Methyl methacrylate was used as self – healing agent and its self-healing capability was
confirmed by UPV test. In that self – healing concrete, Industrial Waste Steel Scrap and Polyethylene fiber were
added to evaluate its mechanical properties. The experimental results shown that the self – healing concrete
can yield high compressive strength when Polyethylene fiber was added and also yield high tensile strength by
adding Industrial waste steel scrap. Also, it is found to be economical by adding steel scrap in self – healing
concrete instead of steel fiber.
BEHAVIOR OF REACTIVE POWDER CONCRETE SLABS EXPOSED TO FIRE FLAMEIAEME Publication
This work is devoted to study the behavior as well as the mechanical properties of reactive powder concrete (RPC) slabs subjected to fire flame. The experimental program includes investigation the effect of burning temperature and duration on some important mechanical properties of RPC compared with normal strength concrete (NSC) such as compressive strength, modulus of rupture, splitting tensile strength and modulus of elasticity. Additional tests are also conducted to study the effect of temperature, duration, existence of steel reinforcement and slab thickness on the flexural or punching shear behavior of simply supported RPC slabs having dimensions of (520×520×50mm) under concentrated load at the center of the slab. The test results showed that the performance of RPC specimens at fire were worse than that of conventional concrete due to increased spalling. All RPC samples were spalled and loss their mechanical properties under burning at (600ºC) for (60 mins.) duration. Slab thickness of (50 mm) was enough to resist fire exposure at high temperature level without spalling of the upper surface of concrete

Study of mechanical properties of concrete at elevated temperatures a revieweSAT Journals
Abstract Concrete, the second highest consumed material after water in the world, plays a vital role in the construction field because of the versatility in its use. Developments during the last two decades have shown a marked increase in the number of structures involving the long time heating of concrete. In recognition of its importance, many researchers have attempted to investigate the effect of elevated temperature on mechanical properties of concrete. These researchers, during their investigation, used materials with varying combination and different experimental conditions. These materials include cement, different percentages of admixtures like fly ash, silica fume, metakaolin, finely grounded pumice(FGP), group granulated blast furnace slag(GGBS), polypropylene fibre(PP fibre), palm oil fuel ash(POFA), Portland pozzolana cement(PPC), rice husk ash(RHA), different fine and coarse aggregates, super plasticisers, retarders and the conditions included a temperature range of 28oC to 1200oC . The other conditions that were varied are the shapes and sizes of test specimens, curing methods, curing conditions and test methods. The analysis of these investigations and their results are reviewed and presented in this paper. Key words: concrete, mechanical properties, elevated temperature, admixtures, curing methods
Effect of silica fume on the strength of cement mortareSAT Journals
Abstract
The replacement of sand/cement by certain percentage of silica fumes, resulted in the improvement in compressive strength of the mortar. Silica fumes to the highly pozzolanic materials because it consists essentially of silica in non- crystalline form with a high specific surface. It is used to improve the mechanical properties of the concrete. The main objective of this paper is to study the effect of silica fume on the compressive strength of mortar. Three proportions of mixes viz mix 1:3, mix 1:4 and mix 1:6 with different percentages of silica fumes replacement with sand/cement were used. The maximum increase in strength at the age of 28 days when sand is replaced by 15% of silica fume has been observed as 40% and in case of cement replaced with 15% of silica fume, the observed increase in compressive strength of mortar comes out to be 28%.
A quantitative cost analysis shows that with the replacement of cement and sand by silica fume, the in cost is more when sand is replaced and it is less when cement is replaced.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
