This document summarizes a research paper that analyzed the mechanical properties of honeycomb sandwich panels made of composite materials for use in advanced lightweight helicopters. The paper tested honeycomb sandwich panels made from Kevlar-1226, carbon-801, and glass-7781 composite materials. Testing included density, tensile strength, tensile modulus, thermal expansion, stress, and core failure properties. Results showed the honeycomb sandwich panel had a density of 1.92 g/cm3, tensile strength of 3450 MPa, tensile modulus of 175 MPa, and withstood a core failure load of 446 kgf.
