Agent-Based Modeling: Methods and Techniques for Scheduling Industrial Machin...ijtsrd
Owing to its impact on the industrial economy, job shop scheduler and controller are vital algorithms for modern manufacturing processes. Hence a production scheduling and control that performs reactive (not deterministic) scheduling and can make decision on which job to process next based solely on its partial (not central) view of the plant becomes necessary. This requirement puts the problem in the class of agent based model (ABM). Hence this work adopts an alternative view on job-shop scheduling problem where each resource is equipped with adaptive agent that, independent of other agents makes job dispatching decision based on its local view of the plant. A combination of Markov Chain instruments and agent oriented analysis is used in the analysis of the proposed agent based model (ABM) for the job shop scheduling problem. The Markov Chain approach allows a rigorous analysis of the ABM. It provides a general framework of aggregation in agent-based and related computational models by making use of Markov Chain aggregation and lumpability theory in order to link the micro and the macro level of observation. Simulated annealing technique is used for carrying out the optimization modeling for the ABM. This paper deals with new methods to optimize design and subsequent phases, notably in SMEs specialized in manufacturing. SMEs use numerical simulation to verify that the design meets the expectations of the specification, following the current traditional process: CAD model, simulation of its behavior, changes in the CAD model... This process suffers from a number of drawbacks: no overall multi-criteria vision, use of CAD software, by nature "constructive, not considering the overall objectives (even with integration of the parameters or with considering the downstream phases). The research centre DINCCS led several projects, relying on industrial cases to consider more efficient approaches. It is proposed to reverse this process by making intensive simulations, based on trade knowledge, before design itself. In order to plan the great number of simulations, automatically designed plan of experiences are used. We discuss the application of this approach to intensive simulations. The stakes are crucial for SMEs, particularly manufacturing ones. Using numerical simulation (optimization) intensively, before setting the CAD model, they can get unexpected gains (mass, better use of the means of manufacture...). The results show that the proposed approach is a very promising new way of computer aided design..

Modelling Production Performance of Small Scale Production PlantIJAEMSJORNAL
This paper is about development of a model to evaluate capacity utilization (CU) of small scale production plants. The model employed short term production function with key independent variables of: plant operators, capital, R&D, energy and machinery maintenance expenditure. CU of small scale plant is the output and dependent variable for this study. The developed model is tested on a small scalewater production plant. The output results show that the average CU is 74% for six months of operations. The model test results revealed that all the inputs are positively correlated (R>0.893) to CU, with major inputs are significantly contributing to CU. About 80% (R2=0.797) of the inputs are consumed to achieve CU of production process. The model estimated value was found to be close to actual recorded outputs (<2% difference). The model is found to be statistically significant at 95% confidence level with p-value less than 0.05. The developed model is useful for small scale plants in evaluating the production performance to achieve technical and economical sustainability. For further research in this topic, this study suggests building a model to optimize the contribution of inputs to CU of small scale production plants.

The main objective of this study is to increase the productivity against the demand. The Quality related issue regarding material&
material shortage online is not in the scope of this study. Taking a value stream perspective means working on the big picture, nota just
individual process; and not a just optimization but an actual improvement. It covers value adding as well as non-value-adding activities. This
study also includes layout improvement and time study report.
This research shows marking benefit associated with the implementation of lean program because this project shows an industrial case
study of MCCB manufacturing Assembly line.
EFFICIENCY OF SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT AFTER IMPROVEMENTS IN REQUIREMENTS ENGINEE...ijseajournal
In the past decade multiple challenges arose from the method of software development [4, 4]. As described by Davenport, the development process needs an overhaul [4, 4]. Different disciplines, like project management, requirements engineering, the development of code or quality assurance have been investigated intensively, in order to improve the productivity of development. To obtain valid results, the
overhaul needs to start with the refactoring of the right process at first. Often, it is sensible to start with such processes, which operate at the interface to the customer, because they are perhaps the most critical to an organization’s success [3, 270 – 271]. Mainly, software development consists of four sub processes:
requirements engineering, development, quality assurance and delivery. Requirements engineering and
delivery operate on the interface to the customers. Because of the fact that the analysis of requirements is
groundbreaking, we select this process as the starting point of a process innovation initiative. We analyse
the impact of requirements engineering in KANBAN development processes. Special emphasis is put on the
productivity of the overall development process, after a refactoring of requirements engineering.
Improving layout and workload of manufacturing system using Delmia Quest simu...AM Publications
This paper describes a case study of analysis and optimization of the facility layout in a manufacturing cell
using a systematic search method and a Quest computer simulation model with graphical representation of the
manufacturing processes. The simulation model objective was to obtain Layout design to achieve a high productivity in the
flexible manufacturing system (FMS), to determine bottleneck locations and what the optimal batch size should be. The
Quest software proved to be a powerful tool in assessing what changes should be made to a manufacturing cell before
incurring manufacturing improvements and/or performing actual capital investments. The aim of this study is to get
an understanding of the cell and its behaviour regarding production and to use the simulation software to change,
analyse and improve the cell.

To address these requirements industries must constantly reconsider and optimize the way they do business and change their systems and applications to support evolving business processes.
Towards Benchmarking User Stories Estimation with COSMIC Function Points-A Ca...IJECEIAES
Shorter time-to-market and unstable requirements is leading to introduction of Agile and DevOps practices. Story point estimation is becoming handier in Agile/DevOps setting. However, developing user stories and defining sizing unit in terms of story point is subjective process. It lacks benchmarking/standardization in terms of sizing measure and productivity of historical data. COSMIC has been considered as FSM (Functional Size Method). It has flexibility to receive requirements as User stories (popular Agile/Devops method) and derive COSMIC functional units using parametric approach. COSMIC method reduces the subjectivity and populates the productivity parameter for benchmarking. It standardizes the estimation process and can be easily deployed in Agile or DevOps setting. This paper presents the related work on linkages between User stories, COSMIC methods and traditional function point methods. It also presents the outcome of the industry survey conducted on 49 practitioners working in 10 different domains with respective to parametric estimation process adoption and presents 9 real-time case studies developed to demonstrate the usage of COSMIC method in various domains. This paper also attempts to derive mapping process of COSMIC functional process with User Stories with the help of 2 real-time industry case studies.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.
