This document presents an experimental study on the compressive strength of fiber reinforced composite concrete with metakaolin as an admixture. Various percentages of metakaolin (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%) and fiber contents (0.5% and 1% steel and polypropylene fibers) were used to make cubes, cylinders, and beams to determine the strength. The results showed that partial replacement of cement with metakaolin and addition of fibers improved the compressive strength of concrete compared to normal concrete without additives. The optimum dosage of metakaolin and fibers was found to be 15% metakaolin and 1% fibers for achieving maximum strength in M60 grade concrete.

The main objective of this present work is to determine the densification, hardness and impact strength behavior on LM09 alloy reinforced with graphite and magnesium oxide nano-particles. LM09 is lighter metal as compared to other engineering metals/alloys except magnesium and beryllium. In this research stir casting process was used to fabricate hybrid LM09 nano-composite. The composites were prepared by varying the proportion of reinforcements such as 1.2 wt.% graphite (constant) and 1.5-3.5 wt. % magnesium oxide. Densities of alloy and nano-composites were determined by using the rule of mixture and Archimedes principles. Composite with 1.2 wt. % graphite and 2.5 wt. % magnesium oxide have 95.75% of relative density. Theoretical and actual densities are closer so that the cast composites were produced with less porosity. The mechanical properties of nano-composite such as hardness and impact strength was measured and clearly show that the LM09 alloy is enhanced through the reinforcement of nano-particles. Hybrid nano-composite reinforced with 2.5 wt. % magnesium oxide dominates the hardness as compared to other composites (1.5 and 3.5 wt. % magnesium oxide) The increase in reinforcement particles enhances the impact strength proportionally. The present finding concludes that LM09 hybrid composite having 1.2 wt. % graphite and 2.5 wt. % magnesium oxide can be used for engineering applications.

Self-compacting concrete (SCC) is an innovative concrete that does not requires vibration for placing and compaction. SCC has higher powder content and a lower coarse aggregate volume ratio as compared to normally vibrated concrete. If only cement is used in SCC, it becomes high costly, susceptible to be attack and produces much thermal crack. Therefore it is necessary to replace some of the cement by additives like Metakaolin to achieve an economical and durable concrete. Metakaolin (MK) is a pozzolanic material. It is a dehydroxylated form of the clay mineral kaolinite. It is obtained by calcination of kaolinitic clay at a temperature between 500°C and 800°C. Kaolin is a fine, white, clay mineral that has been traditionally used in the manufacture of porcelain. A SSC mix prepaid with the replacement of cement by metakaolin in different ratios (5%, 10%, 15% and 20%). Slump flow and V- Funnel time increase with increase in the percentage of metakaolin and mechanical properties of SCC like Compressive strength, split tensile strength and elastic modulus of SCC decreases with increases in percentage of metakaolin at the age of 7 days and 28 days but increases with increases in percentage of metakaolin at the age of 90 days.
EFFECT OF NANO-SILICA ON CONCRETE CONTAINING METAKAOLINIAEME Publication
In this paper the results of an experimental investigation on the use of Metakaolin (MK) and Nano-Silica (NS) on various properties of concrete are presented. Metakaolin and Nano-Silica are used as partial replacement of cement for the preparation of concrete. In the present investigation initially cement is partially replaced by Metakaolin 5% and 10% by weight. Further investigation is carried out by combined replacement of Metakaolin at 5% and 10% with Nano-Silica at 1%, 2% and 3% by weight of cement. For structural applications the various properties, such as compressive strength, split tensile strength, modulus of elasticity and flexural strength of M25 grade concrete containing MK and NS are evaluated and the results are compared with the controlled concrete. Based on the test results, it can be observed that concrete prepared with a combination of 5% MK and 2% NS indicated increased strength compared to the controlled concrete.

A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.

Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
