Project Delivery System Integrated Project Delivery
Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) is a new approach to organize
project team. IPD is integrating all team members which
included owner, architect, construction manager, engineers, and
subcontractors. As a result, the project benefits are achieved.
According to Integrated Project Delivery: A guide, Integrated
Project Delivery (IPD) has been defined as a project delivery
system which integrates people, systems, business’s
organization and practices into a process. The process is
collaboratively harnesses talents and insights of all participants
to optimize project results, increase value to the owner, reduce
waste, and maximize efficiency through all phases of design,
fabrication, and construction (American Institute of Architects
California Council, 2007). Moreover, Integrated Project
Delivery is suited with collaborative variety of contractual
arrangements and IPD set may include the project’s participants
which is better than the basic triad of owner, architect, and
contractor.

Building Information Modeling The benefits of Building Information Modeling
No Potential benefit for PMs Reason?
1 Organize the project schedule and budget
An integrated 5D BIM model immediately updates both the schedule and
budget when any design change occurs
2 Work well with the design team
By using the integrated 5D BIM model to visualize and explore the impact
of changes, s/he can keep project scope in check and become a
trustworthy liaison between the designers and Owner Hiring.
3 Hiring and controlling the Subcontractors
Having a handle on clash detection and coordination plays a key role in
keeping Sub-contractors’ work predictable
4
Requests for information (RFIs) and change
order
Utilizing Coordination Resolution in preconstruction, these numbers can be
brought to near zero.

5
Optimize the owner’s experience and
satisfaction
Owner received a big injection of confidence in the GC when the PM
showed him/her how design decisions impacted cost and schedule.
6 Project closeout
PM to present a 6D BIM – a facilities resource with information on
warranties, specifications, maintenance schedules, and other valuable
information.
7 Profit margin
By thoroughly understanding the project in 5D, the PM has more tools at
his disposal to keep tight reins, and more reports to monitor progress.
8
Progressive owners are mandating BIM on
their projects
Becoming the BIM expert, in both preconstruction and out in the field,
makes the PM invaluable and a key player.
9 PM Firm growth
Project's success with 5D BIM means the opportunity to grow the firm's
reputation and helps the corporate team win new business. 22

Conclusion
To achieve the highest benefit of Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), Integrated Project
Delivery (IPD) have to applied Building Information Modeling (BIM) due to BIM is tools
to use in IPD.
However, the tools of Building Information Modeling have divided into two types, which
are
(1) software/application
(2) BIM equipment.
Thus, the application are causing many benefits for Owner, Architect and Contractor to
reducing project duration, effectively management, reducing clash in project, providing
pre-construction, forecasting project environmental and different situation.

Conclusion
The framework of Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) using Building Information Modeling
(BIM) has been developed by apply Autodesk application to show how does Building
Information Modeling (BIM) is uses by Integrated Project Delivery Approach. The
framework is shown at figure 4.1 Integrated Project Delivery using Building Information
Modeling. The reason of using Autodesk’s application to do the explanation is the format
file which generated by Autodesk’s Application may use with other application under
Autodesk developer. Thus, the exchange file between different application may not cause
any conflict.

Recommendation
The framework has explained only
Autodesk’s application. There are many
BIM application which can do exchange file
to different application from other
developer.
Moreover, there are some application can
export the files in different types. The
reason is some type of work, such as steel
work is better to develop in other program
which is better than Autodesk software.
