NX is a 3D CAD/CAM software initially released in 1973. It simplifies complex product designs through modeling, assembly, drafting and other environments. In the modeling environment, users can create solid models using 2D sketching, extrude, revolve, sweep, boolean operations, and advanced tools like holes, patterns, and mirrors. Assemblies bring together component parts using alignment, concentric, distance and other geometric constraints. NX is commonly used in aerospace and automotive industries for mechanical designs.
NX is one of the world’s most advanced and tightly integrated CAD/CAM/CAE product development solutions. Spanning the entire range of product development, NX delivers immense value to enterprises of all sizes. It simplifies complex product designs, thus speeding up the process of introducing products to the market.

Social Media as a Professional Development Tool - Leaders on Fast Track / His...Juan Sebastian Vasquez
Workshop and presentation on how social media can be leveraged as a professional development tool.
We focused on 3 core pillars:
- Owning and telling our personal stories as a way to develop opportunities and connections
- Building and growing a personal brand that connects the right skills and keywords to your name
- Learning to operate digital tools so that eventually you can build and sustain an infrastructure
Each point carried a personal story that illustrated how to to implement it.
Before starting open discussion I shared a handful of specific tactics and recommendations:
- Gradually build it all up - pace, patience
- Use screenshots
- Speak on panels, workshops, events
- Go from an online public interaction, to a DM, to a professional coffee
- Use LinkedIn & Twitter notifications as additions to email followup
- Request LinkedIn recommendations
- Scan social media before events
- Connect people to each other
- Buy your domain
Along the way participants filled out a paper guide that asked them to note down the following:
- 3 words or phrases that summarize personal stories
- 3 keywords that describe professional skills or aspirations
- 3 tools they commit to learning how to use in the coming months

1 Introduction
This document describes the architecture and design for the Pocket Campus Tour application being developed for the University of Missouri—Kansas City (UMKC). Pocket Campus Tour is a PDA application that turns a GPS enabled PDA into a personal tour guide providing audio commentary on the buildings and notable structures on the UMKC campus. Pocket Campus Tour has a roaming mode that requires zero computer skills. Visitors simply carry the device with them as they stroll the campus and it provides audio commentary relevant to the visitor’s current location. For those who can’t or don’t want to stroll the campus, the application also offers a self-directed mode where the same position-dependent audio commentary is available from an interactive onscreen campus map.
The purpose of this document is to describe the architecture and design of the Pocket Campus Tour application in a way that addresses the interests and concerns of all major stakeholders. For this application the major stakeholders are:
· Users and the customer – they want assurances that the architecture will provide for system functionality and exhibit desirable non-functional quality requirements such as usability, reliability, etc.
· Developers – they want an architecture that will minimize complexity and development effort.
· Project Manager – the project manager is responsible for assigning tasks and coordinating development work. He or she wants an architecture that divides the system into components of roughly equal size and complexity that can be developed simultaneously with minimal dependencies. For this to happen, the modules need well-defined interfaces. Also, because most individuals specialize in a particular skill or technology, modules should be designed around specific expertise. For example, all UI logic might be encapsulated in one module. Another might have all logic related to GPS coordinates.
· Maintenance Programmers – they want assurance that the system will be easy to evolve and maintain on into the future.

Automatic Computer-Aided Design (AutoCAD 2D) engineering drawing is an important
component in BFPD courses. This software is commonly practiced by students for the product
design process as part of the project development. However, there is a lack of quality in 2D
engineering drawing that affects the students’ prototype making process and project progression.
This paper intends to identify the problems that weakened the students' performances of the
AutoCAD 2D engineering drawings. Data were collected from the students’ examinations,
assignments, and independent projects. Semi-structured interviews were also conducted with the
students.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

Introduction to nx
1. Introduction to NX
Initial release in 1973.
It simplifies complex product designs.
It is very simple, useful and powerful
software.
It is also used in aerospace,
automotive companies.
2. Part Navigator
The Part Navigator provides a visual representation
of the features in the work.
It shows all the entities used during
modeling.
It allows you to perform various
editing actions on those features.
4. Modelling environment
The Modelling environment is a feature-based
environment in which you can create solid models.
Two dimensional sketching
Advanced Modelling tool
5. Two dimensional sketching
You can directly create a sketch on a Plane in Modelling
application. In most cases, Modelling starts from a 2D sketch
and then Extrude, Revolve or Sweep the sketch to create
solids. Many complex shapes
that are otherwise very difficult
to model can easily be drawn by
sketching.
8. Boolean Operations
These options can be used when two or more solid
bodies share the same model space in the part file.
Unite
subtract
Intersect
Unite
The unit command adds the Tool body with the Target
body.
9. Boolean Operations
Subtract:
When using the subtract option the tool body is
subtracted from the target body.
Intersect:
This command leaves the volume that common to
both target body and tool body .
11. Advance modelling tool
The advanced modelling tools are mostly used to
place different types of standard and User-
defined features on a model. Most of the
mechanical designs are created using the
advanced modelling.

Pattern feature
12. Pattern feature
The Pattern Feature tool is a very versatile tool in
NX. This tool is used to create the linear and
circular patterns of features. It is also used to
create the polygon, spiral, along curve, helix
patterns.
15. Assembly Environment
The Assembly environment is used to create the
interrelationship between the component parts.
