INDIAN MISSILE
Indian pursued the integrated guided missile
development program (IGMDP) which was an
Indian
Ministry of defence program for the development
of a comprehensive range of missiles
 this includes
 Intermediate range Agni missile (surface to surface)
 Short range missile such as the prithvi
 Akash missile (surface to air)
 Trisul missile (surface to air)
 Nag missile (anti tank)
WHAT IS A GUIDED MISSILE
• Guided missile are self-propelled, unmanned space or air vehicle
carrying an explosive warhead
• Its path can be adjusted during flight either by automatically self-
contained controls or remote human control
• The guided missile were first development in their military form by
the the German who in world war2 employed v-1 ND V-2 Missile
against great brighten and the low country
• Guided missile are of various types and range .
• Missile may be aerodynamic is-controlled by aerodynamics surface
and following a straight-line trajectory to the target
• Ballistic missile ie-powered during flight and following a parabolic
trajectory long –range missile generally have nuclear warheads
while short-range missile usually have high-explosive warhead
AERODYNMIC MISSILE
• Aerodynamic missile are of four type
• Air to air missiles- are fired by aircraft enemy aircraft and often
guided by self contained controls that detect and target the missile
toward heat source
• Surface to air missile-usually operate against aircraft or
other missile
• Air to surface missile –launched by aircraft against
ground position, are generally radio-controlled
• Surface to surface missile-(included ship submarine
launched version)
• Cruise missile-which are launched like a missile but use
flip out wings and turbofan engine to fly like an airplane
to the target at altitude ,either air to surface 0r surface to
BALLISTIC MISSILE
• All long-range missile are ballistic missile
• The intermediate-range ballistic missile
(IRBM)can reach target up to 1,500 nautical miles
away
• The intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM)has a
range of many thousand of miles
• An antiballistic ballistic missile (ABM) is designed
to detect and intercept enemy ballistic missile
• A ballistic missile trajectory consist of tree part
• Ballistic missile can be launch from fixed sites or
mobile launcher (transporter erector launcher)
SHORT RANGE BALLISTIC
MISSILE
 PRITHVI-1 : Prathvi-1 class was a Surface to Surface

strike capability Surya missile is considered a land version of
the SAGARIKA
CRUISE MISSILE
 A cruise missile is a guided missile that carries
an explosive payload and is propelled usually
by a jet engine, toward a land based or sea
based target
 They are distinct from unmanned aerial
vehicle(UAV)in that they are used only as
weapon and not for reconnaissance
CRUSISE MISSILE
 BRAHMOS : Brahmos is a super sonic cruise missile that can be
launched from sub marines, ship, aircraft or land
