expected return on HeavyTech over the next year? b. What would you expect HeavyTech s price to be
one year from today? c. What would you have expected HeavyTech s stock returns to be over the last
year? d. What were the actual returns on HeavyTech over the last year? e. HeavyTech has $100
million in equity and $50 million in debt. It plans to issue $50 million in new equity and retire $50
million in debt. Estimate the new beta. a. Using the CAPM, we compute the expected return as 0.03 +
1.2(0.0792) = 12.5%. We use a T‐bill rate, because the focus is on the short‐term expected return (the
next year). For the same reason, we use the market premium over bills. b. The cum‐dividend price,
one year from now, would be $50 *(1 + 12.50%) = $56.25. The ex dividend price, assuming that the
stock price goes down by the amount of the dividend is $56.25 $2.50 = $53.75. c. Over last year, the
expected return would have been 0.05+1.2*0.0792=14.5%.

Twelve Traditions Of Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous is an international mutual aid fellowship founded in 1935 by Bill Wilson and
Dr. Bob Smith in Akron, Ohio. AA states that its primary purpose is to help alcoholics to stay sober
and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety . With other early members Bill Wilson and Bob Smith
developed AA s Twelve Step program of spiritual and character development. AA s initial Twelve
Traditions were introduced in 1946 to help the fellowship be stable and unified while disengaged from
outside issues and influences. The Traditions recommend that members and groups remain anonymous
in public media, altruistically helping other alcoholics and avoiding affiliations with any other
organization. Subsequent fellowships such as Narcotics Anonymous have adopted and adapted the
Twelve Steps and the Twelve Traditions to their respective primary purposes. The 2006 Cochrane
Review of eight studies measuring the effectiveness of AA found no significant difference between the
results of AA and twelve step participation compared to other treatments, stating that experimental
studies have on the whole failed to demonstrate their effectiveness in reducing alcohol dependence or
drinking problems when compared to other interventions. and the first non Protestant member, a

Memory E. B White Analysis
I believe E. B. White was successful in creating a piece about memory. The use of his descriptive
sentence structure throughout the piece transported the reader to that very lake in Maine he wrote of.
Furthermore I felt as if I was there watching it happen in front of me. He thoroughly described each
setting in such great detail that I recalled memories of my own with my father. We would go camping
and fishing on a lake in South Carolina much similar to the one E.B. White described. These trips took
place in the month of July when the heat was at its peak, mosquitoes abound, crickets and frogs sang
in unison, the smell of DEET smothered all over my body and the late evening thunderstorms which
brought wind, rain and lightning. These were some

Native Americans Civil Rights Struggle Essay
The Native Americans have come across long journey of difficult times since the occupation of their
land by European settlers. There are still two sides of a coin a world of civilization and a world of
underdeveloped society in this one country USA. The paradox is that the constitution which seems to
be a model of democracy to many nations of the world lacks a lot for not acting accordingly. Those
organized and unorganized struggles of Native Americans were challenged by the heavily armed white
majority settlers. This history is among the worst American experience because of the massacre and
the violation against human right. In order to be heard, they protest, occupy land, and write books. The

The Alcatraz occupation lasted for nineteen months.
The Alcatraz opposition was followed by another major event in the struggle of native America s civil
right at Wounded Knee south Dakota. In 1972, they requested the government for land ownerships,
rights for their water and mineral recourses in their land, and for equality according to the constitution.
This was followed by the huge damage of the Bureau of Indian Affairs BIA. In 1973, the government
came with denying the requests and then the leaders of American Indian movement AIM, promised to
keep struggling (Kent 1769). The leaders of the AIM were Russel Means and Denis Banks. There
were also some internal differences among the Indian American tribes. For instance Oglala Sioux
Tribe leaders were criticizing the oppositions. As a result, The AIM leaders were also critical to those
tribes and to the tribal president Richard Wilson. They blamed Wilson for his mismanagement of his
tribe s fund. Wilson had responded with serious attack on his opponents and their families. Hence, the
government supported Wilson and convinced as the leaders intended to size BIA on February 12,

Reflection On The Process Of Bid Glass
This was my first time ever doing stained glass. My goal for this class was to learn the process of
stained glass, grow in patience, and grow in appreciation for the art. With all of the different aspects, I
feel like this goal was met. The first part of the process was cutting the glass. For this, the tools needed
was a glass/ball cutter, running pliers, grozing pliers, and (of course) your glass. Using the ball cutter,
you make a score on the glass. This should only ever be done once. After that is made, take the pliers
to break the glass. The running pliers are used for straight lines What you do is align the cut with the
line on the pliers and pinch, and the glass should break. The grozing pliers are used for non straight
cuts. For this, you take the pliers in one hand and your hand as the other and go on either side of the
score, then break or snap it upwards. Throughout this process I had a good amount of struggles. I first
struggled with figuring out how to position my hand, the amount of pressure that I should put on the
glass, and the angle to put my hand. Another struggle that I encountered was breaking off the glass
that had a curved score. Sometimes the glass wouldn t break, or other times the glass shattered . At
one point I ended up deeply cutting myself, but I went on with a makeshift band aid and got all of the
pieces cut. After all the pieces were cut, I went to the grinder and grinded them all. This didn t seem to
challenge me at all, but rather proved to

Type of Mass Media
Type of mass media Mass media are media, which can be used to communicate and interact with a
large number of audiences. Be it the pictorial messages of the early ages, or the high technology media
that are available today, one thing that we all agree upon, is that mass media are an inseparable part of
our lives. Entertainment and media always go hand in hand, but in addition to the entertainment, mass
media also remain to be an effective medium for communication, dissemination of information,

about the product. These are mainly distributed at events or even at the main outlet when a consumer

billboard advertising, press releases are also various types of print media.
RADIO Radio is a fascinating medium among the various mass communication media because of its

The Political And Political Characters Of Israel In The...
God, when are you going to get us out of here? This was the cry of the Israelites when they were in
captivity. Before the book of Ezra, Israel was disobedient to God. As a result, God punishes them by
putting them under the captivity of another nation. During the captivity of the Israelites, God was
orchestrating a plan of restoring for His people and this plan a student can find His plan is in the book
of Ezra. When studying the book of Ezra, God s faithfulness floods over the book! Students need to
identify the political and spiritual background of Israel and key characters to understand the book of
Ezra.
The political background of Israel in the pre exilic era was disastrous. In Israel, there was not a king
who followed God s law, but in Judea there were some kings like Hezekiah and Josiah who followed
God (2 Kings 18:3, 2 Kings 22:2). Thus, when kings do not obey God, they tend to have a temporal
perspective on their ruling. This temporal perspective lends to a lack of prudence. For a nation to run
effectively, the king needs to make sure the national defense is secure and the nation s attitude is
healthy. However, the kings of Israel did not take care of their nation. King Hosea is an example of a
king who did not take care of his country (2 Kings 17:1 6). King Hosea reigned for nine years in
Israel, which was the twelfth year of Ahaz in Judea (2 Kings 17:1 2). During king Hosea s reign, he
become allies with the Assyrian empire, but he did not follow through with his tributes (2 Kings 17:3
4). Thus, the actions of king Hosea caused the kingdom of Israel to fall to the Assyrians (2 Kings 17:5
6).
The spiritual background of Israel in pre exilic era, like the political, was not good. Through the
leadership of the bad kings and the influences of other nations, Israel did not have a pure relationship
with God. Some of the things that Israel did were worshipping other gods, like Baal and Asherah, and
creating altars for other gods (2 Kings 17:7). Therefore, God sent prophets like Jeremiah and Isaiah to
warn the Israelites of their disobedience. However, the warnings from the prophets did not work
because the Israelites hearts were hard to the warnings of God (2 Kings 17:18 20). As a result, God
sent

The Battle At Little Bighorn
Introduction
The battle at Little Bighorn is one of the most talked about battles in American History. In this paper I
will cover the events in history that lead to the battle, the battle, aftermath and the lessons learned
from this battle. Over one hundred years later it is still one of the most talked about battles in Army
history.
History
The battle at Little Bighorn occurred on June 25th 1876 near an Indian camp located by the Little
Bighorn River. The camp was located in the Black Hills not on a reservation. To fully understand the
battle we must first look at what lead to it. The issues that arose in the eight years leading up to the
battle would be the catalyst for what the battle at Little Bighorn.
To begin in 1868 the Fort Laramie Treaty was signed.
The treaty s intention was to bring an understanding a civil relationship between the Sioux tribes and
the new settlers. The treaty designated land in the Black Hills for the Native Americans to live and
hunt. The land was to be protected from settler s invasion. The times of amicable living were short
lived when in 1874 General Terry sent Lt. Colonel Custer to evaluate the land in the Black Hills and to
find a location for a new Army Fort. On his expedition Lt.Col. Custer discovered gold. The discovery
of gold in the lands protected by the treaty would be the cause of the ultimate tension between the
Native Americans and the U.S government. Custer sent accounts of the gold discovery to the
newspapers,

Assess The Difference Between The US Political System
Similarities Differences Between the U.K. U.S. Political Systems
Introduction
The political system in the USA is claimed to be inspired by the British system. Albeit similar in some
ways it differs in many important aspects.
The British operate with a democratic parliamentary government, headed by a prime minister and
monarch. The U.S. is governed by a federal constitutional republic having three branches of
government, i.e. the executive, legislative, and judicial all sharing powers.
Notwithstanding these differences, both have a lot in common, such dual house legislatures and
prominent political parties.

Executive Order History
As the Founders of the United States and the Framers of the Constitution started designing the
government of the new United States, they made sure to balance the powers of the three branches of
government in order to create a fair and equal government. However, these intelligent men knew very
well that they could not actually create a perfect government, and as a result, some branches of
government possess certain powers that allow them to overpower the other branches. One of these
powers is an executive order, which the President can use in some situations. The most interesting
parts of the concept of an executive order include what it is, its history, and the restrictions of
executive orders. Executive orders are orders written by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The first use of an executive order came on April 22, 1793, when President George Washington used
an executive order to instruct federal officers to prosecute U.S. citizens who became involved in the
war between France and England. During the early to mid 19th century, Presidents used executive
orders; however, these executive orders were often not very controversial. Controversy surrounding
executive orders starting to sweep the nation again in 1861 when President Lincoln issued an
executive order in the months preceding the Civil War. During the early months of 1861, a Southerner
named John Merryman led a group of Southern rebels through Maryland and Virginia fighting federal
troops. Eventually, when federal officials captured John Merryman, his attorneys argued that he had a
right to see a judge before spending more time in prison. In response, President Lincoln issued an
executive order suspending habeas corpus, which is a suspect s right to see a judge after they taken to
prison. In the years following the Civil War and the early 20th century, the use of executive orders
continued to rise. Due to President Theodore Roosevelt s belief in expanding the powers of the
executive branch, he quickly became the first President to issue more than 1,000 executive orders
during his presidency. However, Franklin D. Roosevelt s support for New Deal legislation and laws
led to him issuing 3,522 executive orders during his time in office (the most of any President of the
United States). Furthermore, as history progressed, Presidents continued to utilize executive orders.
Not including President Trump s executive orders, the only executive orders to be struck down were
orders issued by President Truman and President Clinton. President Truman s executive order allowed
the national government to seize control of all steel mills in order to prevent a worker strike.

How Did Women Get To Vote In 1918
To what extent were women s efforts throughout the First World War the main reason behind them
gaining the vote in 1918?
The Representation of the People Act allowed women, over the age of 30, in Great Britain to vote for
the first time in 1918. Previously, women had been viewed as uneducated and irrational, unable to
make a decision on who to vote for themselves. Women had also been expected to stay at home,
looking after children, cooking, and cleaning, for when their husbands returned. However, many
women had grown tired of this and wanted the right to vote as a way of voicing their opinions and so
that they could get even more equality for women across Britain. The contributions made by women,
on the Homefront, during the First World War ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The National Union of Women s Suffrage Societies (NUWSS), nicknamed the Suffragists, believed in
peaceful campaigning, such as handing out pamphlets and organising petitions. Their hope was that
this would persuade the government to grant middle class women the vote, and by the beginning of
the war in 1914 the Suffragists had over 53,000 supporters. This docile way of campaigning impressed
many men as it did not outstep the boundaries that women were restricted to throughout and just
following the Victorian times, however it showed that women were intelligent enough to organise a
campaign that grew a rather large support. They gained a lot of respect through this way of
campaigning with even the future Prime Minister David Lloyd George announcing his support for
them publicly. However, this way of campaigning could be argued as easily ignored as although the
Suffragists had gained some support from members of Parliament; there was no real political progress
towards women gaining the vote before 1914, despite them having been campaigning for almost
twenty years. Overall, the Suffragists played some part in women gaining the vote in 1918, as they
brought the issue to the attention of the government, however their campaign was far too submissive
for any real progress to be

Analysis of Peter Skrynecki´s Migrant Hostel and 10 Mary...
Through an individual s intrinsic desire to develop meaningful connections with society, place or
heritage, they forge their own sense of self identity by overcoming the barriers in place. In Peter
Skrzynecki s poetry, particularly Migrant Hostel and 10 Mary Street we witness an individual s
experience of segregation to eventual connection in the world they live.
Skrzynecki s insightful poem Migrant Hostel explores the notion of impermanence and uncertainty in
an individual s experience where stability is essential to develop an identity and sense of belonging.
The poem illustrates the disorientating nature of a migrant hostel where the people within yearn for
sanctuary in the Australian community. This idea is instantly reflected through the negative
connotations in no one kept count representing a sense of anonymity in the atmosphere through a lack
of individual significance. The enjambment and juxtaposition of the comings and goings highlights
the transient and uncertain nature of the hostel environment where they were left wondering who
would be coming next . The intrinsic desire of human nature to develop meaningful bonds with people
that share similar adversities is displayed through simile and symbol of a homing pigeon circling to
get its bearings . Furthermore, the alliteration in memories of hunger and hate convey their previous
experiences hindering their search for harmony and permission into the broader community. This
notion is further

Project Success Factors
Introduction
The research on project management has been studied for decades. Many scholars and managers put
great efforts into finding out what can influence project success. Through their continuing work and
precious experiences, what factors dominate the success of projects is well documented in literature.
The use of these guide texts can help project managers to deal with difficult tasks. Moreover, it is
unanimous consensus that project critical success factors are necessary for management team to
achieve project objectives and ensure success. If they are well considered and addressed, then it is
more likely that a project would have more successful outcomes. On the other hand, if these factors
are not rigorously taken into account, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, the increase of cost can be slightly overlooked.
Measuring the success of project management has many success criteria. Atkinson states that the early
definition of project management success is mainly determined by achieving The Iron Triangle
including cost, time and quality, which used by Oisen from the 1950 and continue to be used today
(Atkinson, as cited in Oisen, 2009). Atkinson also mentions that using The Iron Triangle to measure
the success of project management as a discipline has not changed in almost 50 years. Even if project
managements meet the success criteria, cost, time and quality, there are many projects continue to be
failed. The author suggests using the Square Route instead of the Iron Triangle . That is because the
Iron Triangle only takes the limited measurement into consideration but ignores the effects on the
stakeholders. This means a successful project has to balance the benefits of organizations and the
satisfaction of stakeholders. As suggested in the Square Route , different groups of people who can
receive benefits from the projects are engaged in the measurement of success (Atkinson, 2009).
Why project critical success factors often ignored in practice?
What factors can influence project success is ubiquitously documented in literatures. However, when
using it, one may find out it is

The traditional school calendar used by most schools in the United States stems from the original
agrarian calendar as students were often called to tend to crops in the summer. This was thoughtfully
and effectively designed for the time period it was created in; however, schools, research, and society
have dramatically changed since then. The agrarian calendar no longer makes sense, as we consider
overcrowding in schools and the significant research regarding the summer brain drain. There are
several models of year round schooling that would better serve all stakeholders in most communities
across the nation.
Position and Rationale American students do not need more time in school, but do need access to
more rigorous, engaging instruction, as well as a calendar that removes the excessive break schedule
(summers) and promotes healthy, regular breaks throughout the year, such as the single track year
round schooling system. Year round education includes the possibility of three different formats:
single track, multi track, and the extended school year. Rodgers (1993) reports that the United States
has the shortest school year of (180 days) of any industrialized nation. She encourages school districts
to analyze other models of year round education as a method of boosting student achievement.
Rodgers, like Dessoff, shares the benefits and the disadvantages of each format. According to Dessoff
(2011), single track is the most popular year round format, as it has

Young Goodman Brown And A Cask Of Amontillado Analysis
Young Goodman Brown and A Cask of Amontillado both incorporate a gothic theme to the simple yet
intricate plotline they hold. Within the two short stories, irony scatters, adding to the overall grim
theme. Although they use the same 3 types of irony, the authors use them differently and similarly at
the same time. In Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel Hawthorne and A Cask of Amontillado by
Edgar Allen Poe, there are many examples of situational irony that are used comparably in both texts.
Dramatic irony is the type of irony that informs the reader of a certain fact that one or more characters
in the story may not know. This is quite evident in Young Goodman Brown and A Cask of
Amontillado, because of the lack of knowledge that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is dramatic irony because the reader knows something that a character, in this case, Fortunato,
doesn t know. Young Goodman Brown and A Cask of Amontillado both use dramatic irony but in very
different ways. Young Goodman Brown uses dramatic irony to add some comedic relief to the
otherwise serious story, while A Cask of Amontillado uses this type of irony to add to the tension in
the text. Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel Hawthorne and A Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen
Poe, although they use it for different purposes. Situational irony is a type of irony that compares the
expectations for an event and the real outcome. Situational irony is most times humorous, and this
witty irony is present in both Young Goodman Brown and A Cask of Amontillado. Hawthorne s work,
Young Goodman Brown, refers to the concept of heaven and hell, specifically the devil. When
Goodman leaves his wife, Faith, to go on a journey, he worries for her. He justifies himself by saying
Well, she s a blessed angel on earth; and after this one night I ll cling to her skirts and follow her to
heaven, (Hawthorne 3). This quote alone has 3 examples of situational irony. First, his wife s name,
Faith, symbolizes how he leaves his town for the devil, and that he is leaving his faith behind.
Secondly, Goodman never truly finds out

Persuasive Essay On Redemption
In the Bible there is a story about a cruel and hateful man named Saul. He would track down and kill
anyone belonging to the then new Christian faith, and he hated anything to do with Jesus. He would
put both men and women into prison, and he was responsible for approving the stoning of one of the
seven disciples told to go out and tell people about Jesus, Stephen. And he is probably one of the most
classic examples of redemption known to Western Christian civilization. To put his long story
concisely, he was traveling to Damascus and then Jesus approached him from heaven, blinding him
with light and telling him he needed to do what Jesus said. Blind and helpless, he didn t eat or drink
anything for three days, and then Jesus sent a man named Ananias who was actually very much afraid
of Saul to heal his blindness, because God had chosen him to be a disciple. When Saul was healed, he
turned away from his genocidal ways, and eventually became known as Paul, a messenger of the
Good News of Christ and the main writer of a chunk of the New Testament of the Bible. This Saul to
Paul effect, while one of the earlier examples of redemption from evil acts, has certainly not been the
last. Redemption has always been a controversial topic, particularly if one s crimes are numerous
and/or horrific part of the reason the death penalty is so often debated in America for its morality. But
what people have really never agreed on is where the breaking point is of what can be forgiven and

Analysis Of The World We Have Lost
History is a collection of stories, and stories can often differ from the facts. This is because the past
can often be distorted and only show certain aspects deemed important. Historian Peter Laslett is
frustrated by this and describes in his paper The World We Have Lost how the pre industrial society
has been forgotten. Society has mostly been patriarchal in human history. Each household contained
roughly 10 20 people, ran by a male master, housing his wife, children, apprentices, and servants. The
group was considered a family and usually worked together producing a singular product as well as
maintaining the household. Land owning men ran the world and hired those who were less fortunate.
Today however, families now consist of related individuals that live separate lives with separate
beliefs. Should patriarchy stay in the past or should it be adopted into modern life? I believe that
Laslett s lost world was abandoned for a reason and should stay lost due to the modern ideas of
choice, change, and culture. Choice is the best part of today s society. The life I am living today would
not be possible in patriarchal society. I am living on my own, attending university a thousand miles
away from home in a completely different field of my father. If I was living in the lost world , I would
be raised to inherit my father s trade like woodworking, farming, etc. I would not have choice and my
life would basically be decided before I was born. The power of choice is

Waterfall And The Agile Model
The Waterfall and The Agile Model comparison
The waterfall model was legally introduced as an idea through a paper that had been published by a
man called Winston Royce in the year 1970. However, due to the waterfall model being introduced by
Winston Royce himself, it had been introduced as an example of a flawed software development
method, which was vulnerable due to its shortcomings. The waterfall model philosophy had been
inherited from the hardware manufacture and construction strategies that had been in practice in the
year 1970s; therefore it had a structured approach to the software development itself. In comparison to
the agile methodology, which developed in the year 1990s where the developers had decided to break
away from the traditional structured, segmented and administrative approaches, which were being
made to the developed software, and progressed towards more of the flexible development styles. The
term Agile can be referred to as being lightweight methods, which had been declared in a research
paper in the year 1974 by Edmonds. Furthermore, some of the most noticeable and common agile
methods of the software development that subsequently had been evolved were known as Scum in the
year 1995, Extreme Programming in 1996, Adaptive Software Development , Dynamic Systems
Development Method in 1995 and Feature Driven Development . In the year 2001, a team of
developers in the agile software development had declared the agile manifesto. The agile

Patriarchy In Sociology
Power is defined as the ability to do or act. Oppression is the exercising of power in a cruel or unjust
way. Patriarchy is a form of social organization where the father or any man is at the top. Coercion is
the force of power to bonds with others in power. These terms relate to the study of crime by
addressing the fact that men are consistently in power and have an advantage over women. However,
on the other hand, considering men that are in the lower class that have less power and patriarchy they
try to create a sense of strong masculinity by participating in criminal acts.

Essay on Overview of the Enron Scandal
Enron Corporation was an energy company founded in Omaha, Nebraska. The corporation chose
Houston, Texas to home its headquarters and staffed about 20,000 people. It was one of the largest
natural gas and electricity providers in the United States, and even the world. In the 1990 s, Enron was
widely considered a highly innovative, financially booming company, with shares trading at about $90
at their highest points. Little did the public know, the success of the company was a gigantic lie, and
possibly the largest example of white collar crime in the history of business. The roots of the lies start
with former Enron CEO Kenneth Lay. This man helped bring together a number of smaller energy
companies, namely InterNorth International and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All these factors lead to figures that were less than what Ken Lay promised, and even started posting
losses by the second quarter of 1997. These less than stellar numbers did not discourage company
executives, and Enron continued to spend foolishly on advertisement and lobbying for deregulation.
All of the prior represents the business side of the downfall of Enron. That being said, businesses fail
all of the time. The reason why Enron Corporation and its executives will always live in infamy is not
because the company failed, but how and why the company failed. How, exactly, does a company
worth about $70 million collapse in less than a month? It became clear that the company not only had
financial problems, but ethical problems that started from the top of the company and trickled down. A
key player in these problems was Jeffrey Skilling. He was a man brought to the company by Ken Lay
himself. Skilling brought his own accounting concept to the company. It was called mark to market
accounting. This concept allowed Enron to record potential profits the day a deal was signed. This
meant that the company could report whatever they thought profits from the deal were going to be and
count the number towards actual profits, even if no money actually came in. Mark to market
accounting granted Enron the power to report major profits to the public, even if they were little or
even negative. It became a major way

Biometric Technology in Verifying a Person s Identity Essay
1. Introduction
The process of verifying a person s identity, also called authentication, plays an important role in
various areas of everyday life. Any situation with user interaction where the identity is required needs
a means to verify the claimed identity. One of the more obvious and commonly known application
areas for identity verifying technologies, i.e. authentication, is the Logical Access Control to computer
systems, where authenticity is normally established by confirming aclaimed identity with a secret
password or PIN code.Traditional methods of confirming the identity of an unknown person rely
either upon some secret knowledge (such as a PIN or password) or upon an object the person

Also, most teenagers are students. They are probably facing a lot of pressure for their academic
performance. These ideas could explain that most teenage drug abusers came from inharmonic

inharmonic families or the high pressure from school work.
Causes of Abuse and Difficulties of Giving Up The causes of teenage drug abuse are mainly the
inquisitiveness, desire of high feeling, peer effect and negative emotions of the abusers according to
the article. The intentions of several respondents using cough syrup A K are being found out through
interviews and thorough study of their cases. For many of those interviewees, they start taking drugs
because they are interested in the feeling of taking drugs. Usually, they will get a high feeling when
they take drugs. This feeling is a main reason for the teenage drug abuse. Many teenagers have an
emotion of sadness from their parents, schools and friends. They want to release the bad feeling
through these means. The high feeling from the drugs make the teenagers get addicted. Moreover, the
peer influence is another major reason. They don t want to be teased as weak and cowardly. Even

The Benefits Of Public Libraries
As technology advances and progresses more, some people began to question the existence of public
libraries and what value they ll hold in the future. More devices are being produced that can replace
books, such as Kindles, Nooks, and other apps that can be downloaded on any portable electronic
device. These devices, however, can t replace all that libraries can offer. Public libraries will still be in
use and serve us in the future. These facilities still offer people internet access, services for children

and to computers. Many people believe the age of the Internet is what would shut down public
libraries. However, not everyone has internet in their homes and rely on places, like their local public

A Short Story Of A Ghost Story
I shall begin my story with an experience I encountered at the age of sixteen at our small town s Latin
school. The sweetness of many memories from that time still stirs and touches me with melancholy:
dark and well lit alleys, houses and factories, faces and chimes, rooms affluent and comfortable, snug
and amenable, the whole town was pregnant with secrets.
The realms of day and night, two different universes coming from two opposite poles, mingled during
this time. My parents home belonged to one realm. This realm was familiar to me in many ways
strictness and love, model behaviour and school. This realm was thriving in clarity, brilliance and
purity, polite conversations and good manners. This was the world in which morning hymns were
sung and Christmas celebrated. Straight lines and paths led into the future: there was duty, love,
forgiveness, good resolutions, wisdom and reverence. If one wanted an unsullied and ordinary life,
one made sure one was in league with this world.
The other realm, however, was completely different: it smelt different, spoke a different language,
promised and demanded different things. This world contained ghost stories, rumours of scandals and
servant girls. It was dominated by a loud mixture of horrendous, intriguing, frightful, mysterious
things, including slaughterhouses and prisons, drunkards and screeching fishwives, calving cows,
horse sinking to their deaths, talks of robberies, murders and suicides. All these wild and cruel,

In 1957 the Common
In 1957 the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) was outlined by the then six member states. The main
reason for the Common Agricultural policy was to make Agriculture a self sufficient entity in The
European
Union.
The six member states of the European Union proposed to do this by creating a stable market for
agricultural produce and at the same time keeping prices at an affordable level for consumers.
The heads of the European Union (E.U) believed that Agriculture was one of the most significant
industries within the E.U; .and as a result agreed that special attention needed to be focused on this
area of European policy. When the nations of Europe got together in the late 1950 s, agriculture was ...

controversy and whether or not the controversy is likely to continue in the future. The common
agricultural policy is funded by means of the European
Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee fund (EAGGF) this fund amounts for almost half of the E.U
budget. The EAGGF incorporates two basic areas which are support and guidance, support of prices
and markets and to guide rural development. (Nugnet, N. 2003)
At the onset of Cap it was thought that revenue generated from import levies would finance the
EAGGF but due to the unforeseen and indeed rapid increase in agricultural produce within the E.U
and therefore a reduction in imports this has not been the case and the financial burden has fallen on to
national governments, however in recent years the E.U has decided to rely on its own resources for the
funding of

Hawaii. He was the first African American to serve as the President of The United States for two terms
from 2009 to 2017. Mainly raised in Hawaii, Obama spent four years in Jakarta, Indonesia and spent
one year in Washington State. At ten years old, he relocated back to Hawaii to live with his
grandparents.
In 1983, Obama graduated from Columbia University and began working as a community organizer
for low income residents from the south side of Chicago. Five years later, he enrolled in Harvard Law
School. The following summer during an internship at a Chicago Law Firm, he met Michelle
Robinson. In Law school, Obama was the first African American President of the Harvard Law
Review. Obama returned to Chicago after graduation and began practicing civil rights law, teaching
law school and establishing Get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Four years later, Obama suffered his only political loss in a run for the U.S. House of Representatives.
However, in 2004, he ran for the U.S. Senate and gave a high profile critical speech at the Democratic
National Convention. Obama won his senate race defeating multimillionaire businessman Blair Hull
and Illinois Comptroller Daniel Hynes with 52 percent of the vote.
In 2007, the freshman senator announced he was running for President of The United States. His
leading opponent in the Democrat primaries was former first lady Hillary Clinton. Even though he
won the nomination, he had Clinton s support for the duration of his campaign. On November 6, 2008,
Obama won the general election against Republican John McCain. Delaware Senator Joe Biden, his
running mate, became vice president. On January 2009, Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of
the United States. Ten months later, he received the Nobel Peace

Benefits Of Legacy Application Mobility
Legacy Application Mobility, is the Answer Surprisingly Simple?
The significant benefits of mobility were highlighted in a recent Microsoft paper. The paper went
further than most, stating some quantifiable bottom line benefits for mobile application access;
claiming that mobility leads to 30% improvement in processes and 23% more productivity and 100%
more satisfied employees . This enthusiasm and willingness to drive value for the business outside of
the typical work hours, or office location, can no longer be dismissed. So, what is stopping
organisations tapping into this extra productivity, and why are organisations that rely on legacy
applications, such as Mainframe, Unix, IBM i, Pick or even Multi Value systems finding it ... Show

They have previously been physically guarded, so the idea of making them available on an
unregulated mobile device can be especially jarring. It s important to remember though, that
organisations who choose not to enable employee mobility are not immune to this risk. The latest
Forrester State of Enterprise Mobile Security report, by Chris Sherman points out that employees are
going to continue to purchase and use whatever devices and apps they need to serve customers and be
highly productive, whether or not these devices are company sanctioned . Whether you embrace of
shun mobility, your employees are likely to try and find their own mobile workaround. Is this a barrier
too high, or could there be a solution?
What there was a mobile app that would spontaneously give users a responsive, touch screen, replica
of the on premise applications they use to complete their day to day tasks? The app would work on all
devices and operating systems automatically, even those that haven t been released yet. It would be as
secure and performant as the in house applications and you wouldn t have to develop it at all. It would
just work. That sounds wildly unrealistic and in some ways, it is. There is no app that will do all of
those things, apps by their nature are specifically developed for their destined OS; but apps are not a
requisite for mobility. They are often lumped together and assumed the same, but there is an
alternative route to mobility that allows you

The Rhetorical Analysis Of Winston Churchill s Speech
Winston Churchill, a legendary Prime Minister, led Great Britain through some of its darkest times:
World War II. The speech he gave to the House of Commons on June 4, 1940, aptly nicknamed the We
shall fight on the beaches speech, carried great importance to his people. In the days before the
speech, the British faced a heavy military loss in Belgium and France. Belgium surrendered to the
Nazis, stranding numerous French and British troops at Dunkirk and neighboring beaches in France,
fully exposed to the advance of the Nazi war machine. With the ocean as their only feasible direction
of retreat, the Navy organized all its resources to pull the men out from Dunkirk over the English
Channel and bring them back to safety in England. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The country rejoiced, flooded with solace. By acknowledging the potential military disaster, catalyzed
by another country, Churchill emphasizes the significance of the successful withdrawal of his troops,
inspiring a sense of immense nationalism and pride in his audience. He perfectly seizes the
opportunity before him, as he knew that he had to stir his people to rise up and rebuild in order to win
his war. Churchill s ultimate goal was to keep fighting until either his country was destroyed or had
vanquished his enemies, and this escape, solely due to German error, provided a chance to bring the
British to victory. He knew the situation was still dire for him and his country. The British were vastly
outnumbered, and the loss of the Belgian army dealt a blow to the Allies. The speech was meant to
prime the British people for what was to come By praising the feats accomplished by his compatriots
and describing the spirit of their actions, Churchill excites the audience s sense of civic pride and duty.
The master of rhetoric, a popular, respected man, honored the individuals who persevered in the face
of adversity, and commends each wing of his military as well as the many civilians who participated
in the effort. In laudation of He continues to lionize the Royal Army in allusion to King

The Ethical Use Of Animals In Captivity
Imagine being taken away from your family and being thrown into a small glass cage to be overlooked
by untrusted beings for the rest of your life. How would you feel? Angry? Scared? Annoyed? All of
the animals in zoos feel like this. This shows that animals are not meant to be in zoos. They are not
treated well and are only used for show and to make money. First of all, most animals in captivity,
such as zoos, are treated unfairly. As www.peta.org says, Animals are often prevented from doing most
of the things that are natural and important to them, like running, roaming, flying, climbing, foraging,
choosing a partner, and being with others of their own kind. Zoos teach people that it is acceptable to
interfere with animals and keep them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The zoos and other places that keep animals captive only use them for their benefit. As www.peta.org
argues, The Wall Street Journal reported in 2003 that nearly half of the country s zoos are facing
cutbacks this year ... [a]ttendance, meanwhile, is down about 3% nationwide. 3 Precious funds that
should be used to provide more humane conditions for animals are often squandered on cosmetic
improvements such as landscaping, refreshment stands, and gift shops in order to draw visitors. This
proves that most of these animals are only used to show them off to others, in order to sell various
items. A zoo researcher from the New York Times researched the behaviors of animals as well as what
the visitors did to the animals at the Bronx Zoo. Www.nytimes.com says her conclusion was Zoos are
a great place to observe the exotic behaviors of human beings in the wild. This shows that the people
are using the animals as a source of entertainment, not education. When she said, human beings in the
wild it means that the humans are overtaking the animals, controlling them, mistreating them, and
using them as just another source of entertainment like a TV. The mistreatment of animals is also
another concern for zoos, for they are only used to make money. Http://wildlife rescue.org claims that
There is minimal state and federal protection for animals used in entertainment. Many of the animals
used for human amusement are not even covered by the federal Animal Welfare Act. This shows that
these animals are not even protected, free to be used by the zoo, for money, entertainment, and any
other mistreatment to them. Overall, these animals are mistreated for the entertainment of others, and

Hamilton County Judges Case
CASE PROBLEM: HAMILTON COUNTY JUDGES Hamilton County Judges try thousands of cases
per year. In an overwhelming majority of the cases disposed, the verdict stands as rendered. However,
some cases are appealed, and of those appealed, some of the cases are reversed. Kristen DelGuzzi of

1. Define the terms finance and financial management, and identify the major sub areas of finance.
Finance is the way in which money is used and handled; especially, the way in which large amounts of
money are used and handled by governments and companies (Merriam Webster, 2014). Financial
Management is the planning, directing, monitoring, organizing, and controlling of the monetary
resources of an organization (Businessdictionary, 2014). The major sub areas of finance are:

An advantage are corporate shareholders cannot lose more money than they originally paid for their
share of stock. A disadvantage to being a corporation is that corporations are double taxed. Federal
and state government tax corporate income once at the corporate level, and then the shareholders pay
taxes again at the personal level. Hybrid Organizations promotes the growth of small businesses. An
advantage is that they offer single taxation and limited liability to all owners. A disadvantage is that
the owners bear personal liability for the firm s debt (Cornett, Adair, amp; Nofsinger, 2014). 3. Define
the terms agency relationship and agency problem, and list the three approaches to minimize the
conflict of interest resulting from the agency problem. Whenever one party hires someone else to work
for him or her that is an agency relationship. An agency problem is when the manager that is hired by
the firm to operate the firm spend company money to improve their own lifestyle instead of earning
more profits for shareholders (Cornett, Adair, amp; Nofsinger, 2014). The first approach is to ignore it,
of the amount of money involved is small enough relative to the firm s cash flow. The second
approach is to monitor the manager s actions. The final approach is to make the manager an owner.
Making the manager an equity stake in the firm. 4. Why is ethical behavior so important in the field of
finance (Cornett, Adair, amp; Nofsinger,

Avoid Changing Ice Cubes
The hypothesis was that ice will melt faster on metal materials, and slower on other surfaces like
wood cutting boards or plastic. My group s data supported this hypothesis, because the ice cubes put
on the metal surface melted much faster than on wood or plastic. The only variable that changed
during the experiment was the material on which the ice melted. Other potential variables that my
group attempted to avoid changing were the size of the ice cube, keeping the ice cubes identical, how
the ice cube is stationed on the material, keeping it flat on the material, and how long the ice cube was
in my hand before touching the material. Potential causes of error include holding the ice cube in my
hand for too long, not starting the timer at the

The Idea Of The Labyrinth In Looking For Alaska
The Labyrinth What is a Labyrinth? The idea of a Labyrinth comes from greek mythology. The story
revolves around the son of a king who travels across the sea to solve the Labyrinth and defeat the
monster who protects it. In the end he is able to defeat the beast with the help of a woman who he
promised to marry, on his way home he dumps the woman and his father kills himself. When he
returns he is pronounced king. It is very important to understand the root of the Labyrinth and know
that it is something that is extremely hard to maneuver out of. It is also very important to know that it
can not be done without the help of another. In the novel Looking for Alaska the idea of the Labyrinth
is introduced in the very beginning of the book. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

For the same reason, we use the market premium over bills. b. The cum‐dividend price, one year from now, would be $50 *(1 + 12.50%) = $56.25. • 4. Twelve Traditions Of Alcoholics Anonymous Alcoholics Anonymous is an international mutual aid fellowship founded in 1935 by Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith in Akron, Ohio. AA states that its primary purpose is to help alcoholics to stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety . With other early members Bill Wilson and Bob Smith developed AA s Twelve Step program of spiritual and character development. AA s initial Twelve Traditions were introduced in 1946 to help the fellowship be stable and unified while disengaged from outside issues and influences. The Traditions recommend that members and groups remain anonymous in public media, altruistically helping other alcoholics and avoiding affiliations with any other organization. Subsequent fellowships such as Narcotics Anonymous have adopted and adapted the Twelve Steps and the Twelve Traditions to their respective primary purposes. The 2006 Cochrane Review of eight studies measuring the effectiveness of AA found no significant difference between the results of AA and twelve step participation compared to other treatments, stating that experimental studies have on the whole failed to demonstrate their effectiveness in reducing alcohol dependence or drinking problems when compared to other interventions. and the first non Protestant member, a Roman Catholic, joined in 1939. The use of his descriptive sentence structure throughout the piece transported the reader to that very lake in Maine he wrote of. Furthermore I felt as if I was there watching it happen in front of me. He thoroughly described each setting in such great detail that I recalled memories of my own with my father. We would go camping and fishing on a lake in South Carolina much similar to the one E.B. White described. There are still two sides of a coin a world of civilization and a world of underdeveloped society in this one country USA. • 7. Reflection On The Process Of Bid Glass This was my first time ever doing stained glass. My goal for this class was to learn the process of stained glass, grow in patience, and grow in appreciation for the art. With all of the different aspects, I feel like this goal was met. The first part of the process was cutting the glass. For this, the tools needed was a glass/ball cutter, running pliers, grozing pliers, and (of course) your glass. Using the ball cutter, you make a score on the glass. This should only ever be done once. After that is made, take the pliers to break the glass. The running pliers are used for straight lines What you do is align the cut with the line on the pliers and pinch, and the glass should break. The grozing pliers are used for non straight cuts. For this, you take the pliers in one hand and your hand as the other and go on either side of the score, then break or snap it upwards. Throughout this process I had a good amount of struggles. I first struggled with figuring out how to position my hand, the amount of pressure that I should put on the glass, and the angle to put my hand. Another struggle that I encountered was breaking off the glass that had a curved score. Sometimes the glass wouldn t break, or other times the glass shattered . At one point I ended up deeply cutting myself, but I went on with a makeshift band aid and got all of the pieces cut. After all the pieces were cut, I went to the grinder and grinded them all. This didn t seem to challenge me at all, but rather proved to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Political And Political Characters Of Israel In The... God, when are you going to get us out of here? This was the cry of the Israelites when they were in captivity. Before the book of Ezra, Israel was disobedient to God. As a result, God punishes them by putting them under the captivity of another nation. During the captivity of the Israelites, God was orchestrating a plan of restoring for His people and this plan a student can find His plan is in the book of Ezra. When studying the book of Ezra, God s faithfulness floods over the book! Students need to identify the political and spiritual background of Israel and key characters to understand the book of Ezra. The political background of Israel in the pre exilic era was disastrous. In Israel, there was not a king who followed God s law, but in Judea there were some kings like Hezekiah and Josiah who followed God (2 Kings 18:3, 2 Kings 22:2). Thus, when kings do not obey God, they tend to have a temporal perspective on their ruling. This temporal perspective lends to a lack of prudence. For a nation to run effectively, the king needs to make sure the national defense is secure and the nation s attitude is healthy. However, the kings of Israel did not take care of their nation. King Hosea is an example of a king who did not take care of his country (2 Kings 17:1 6). King Hosea reigned for nine years in Israel, which was the twelfth year of Ahaz in Judea (2 Kings 17:1 2). During king Hosea s reign, he become allies with the Assyrian empire, but he did not follow through with his tributes (2 Kings 17:3 4). Thus, the actions of king Hosea caused the kingdom of Israel to fall to the Assyrians (2 Kings 17:5 6). The spiritual background of Israel in pre exilic era, like the political, was not good. Through the leadership of the bad kings and the influences of other nations, Israel did not have a pure relationship with God. Some of the things that Israel did were worshipping other gods, like Baal and Asherah, and creating altars for other gods (2 Kings 17:7). Therefore, God sent prophets like Jeremiah and Isaiah to warn the Israelites of their disobedience. However, the warnings from the prophets did not work because the Israelites hearts were hard to the warnings of God (2 Kings 17:18 20). As a result, God sent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this paper I will cover the events in history that lead to the battle, the battle, aftermath and the lessons learned from this battle. Over one hundred years later it is still one of the most talked about battles in Army history. History The battle at Little Bighorn occurred on June 25th 1876 near an Indian camp located by the Little Bighorn River. The camp was located in the Black Hills not on a reservation. To fully understand the battle we must first look at what lead to it. The issues that arose in the eight years leading up to the battle would be the catalyst for what the battle at Little Bighorn. To begin in 1868 the Fort Laramie Treaty was signed. The treaty s intention was to bring an understanding a civil relationship between the Sioux tribes and the new settlers. The treaty designated land in the Black Hills for the Native Americans to live and hunt. The land was to be protected from settler s invasion. The times of amicable living were short lived when in 1874 General Terry sent Lt. Colonel Custer to evaluate the land in the Black Hills and to find a location for a new Army Fort. On his expedition Lt.Col. Custer discovered gold. The discovery of gold in the lands protected by the treaty would be the cause of the ultimate tension between the Native Americans and the U.S government. Executive Order History As the Founders of the United States and the Framers of the Constitution started designing the government of the new United States, they made sure to balance the powers of the three branches of government in order to create a fair and equal government. However, these intelligent men knew very well that they could not actually create a perfect government, and as a result, some branches of government possess certain powers that allow them to overpower the other branches. One of these powers is an executive order, which the President can use in some situations. The first use of an executive order came on April 22, 1793, when President George Washington used an executive order to instruct federal officers to prosecute U.S. citizens who became involved in the war between France and England. During the early to mid 19th century, Presidents used executive orders; however, these executive orders were often not very controversial. Controversy surrounding executive orders starting to sweep the nation again in 1861 when President Lincoln issued an executive order in the months preceding the Civil War. During the early months of 1861, a Southerner named John Merryman led a group of Southern rebels through Maryland and Virginia fighting federal troops. Eventually, when federal officials captured John Merryman, his attorneys argued that he had a right to see a judge before spending more time in prison. In response, President Lincoln issued an executive order suspending habeas corpus, which is a suspect s right to see a judge after they taken to prison. In the years following the Civil War and the early 20th century, the use of executive orders continued to rise. Due to President Theodore Roosevelt s belief in expanding the powers of the executive branch, he quickly became the first President to issue more than 1,000 executive orders during his presidency. However, Franklin D. Roosevelt s support for New Deal legislation and laws led to him issuing 3,522 executive orders during his time in office (the most of any President of the United States). Furthermore, as history progressed, Presidents continued to utilize executive orders. Not including President Trump s executive orders, the only executive orders to be struck down were orders issued by President Truman and President Clinton. • 13. How Did Women Get To Vote In 1918 To what extent were women s efforts throughout the First World War the main reason behind them gaining the vote in 1918? The Representation of the People Act allowed women, over the age of 30, in Great Britain to vote for the first time in 1918. Previously, women had been viewed as uneducated and irrational, unable to make a decision on who to vote for themselves. Women had also been expected to stay at home, looking after children, cooking, and cleaning, for when their husbands returned. However, many women had grown tired of this and wanted the right to vote as a way of voicing their opinions and so that they could get even more equality for women across Britain. The contributions made by women, on the Homefront, during the First World War ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The National Union of Women s Suffrage Societies (NUWSS), nicknamed the Suffragists, believed in peaceful campaigning, such as handing out pamphlets and organising petitions. Their hope was that this would persuade the government to grant middle class women the vote, and by the beginning of the war in 1914 the Suffragists had over 53,000 supporters. This docile way of campaigning impressed many men as it did not outstep the boundaries that women were restricted to throughout and just following the Victorian times, however it showed that women were intelligent enough to organise a campaign that grew a rather large support. They gained a lot of respect through this way of campaigning with even the future Prime Minister David Lloyd George announcing his support for them publicly. However, this way of campaigning could be argued as easily ignored as although the Suffragists had gained some support from members of Parliament; there was no real political progress towards women gaining the vote before 1914, despite them having been campaigning for almost twenty years. Overall, the Suffragists played some part in women gaining the vote in 1918, as they brought the issue to the attention of the government, however their campaign was far too submissive for any real progress to be ... Through an individual s intrinsic desire to develop meaningful connections with society, place or heritage, they forge their own sense of self identity by overcoming the barriers in place. In Peter Skrzynecki s poetry, particularly Migrant Hostel and 10 Mary Street we witness an individual s experience of segregation to eventual connection in the world they live. Skrzynecki s insightful poem Migrant Hostel explores the notion of impermanence and uncertainty in an individual s experience where stability is essential to develop an identity and sense of belonging. The poem illustrates the disorientating nature of a migrant hostel where the people within yearn for sanctuary in the Australian community. This idea is instantly reflected through the negative connotations in no one kept count representing a sense of anonymity in the atmosphere through a lack of individual significance. The enjambment and juxtaposition of the comings and goings highlights the transient and uncertain nature of the hostel environment where they were left wondering who would be coming next . The intrinsic desire of human nature to develop meaningful bonds with people that share similar adversities is displayed through simile and symbol of a homing pigeon circling to get its bearings . Furthermore, the alliteration in memories of hunger and hate convey their previous experiences hindering their search for harmony and permission into the broader community. This notion is further ... Atkinson states that the early definition of project management success is mainly determined by achieving The Iron Triangle including cost, time and quality, which used by Oisen from the 1950 and continue to be used today (Atkinson, as cited in Oisen, 2009). Atkinson also mentions that using The Iron Triangle to measure the success of project management as a discipline has not changed in almost 50 years. Even if project managements meet the success criteria, cost, time and quality, there are many projects continue to be failed. The author suggests using the Square Route instead of the Iron Triangle . That is because the Iron Triangle only takes the limited measurement into consideration but ignores the effects on the stakeholders. This means a successful project has to balance the benefits of organizations and the satisfaction of stakeholders. As suggested in the Square Route , different groups of people who can receive benefits from the projects are engaged in the measurement of success (Atkinson, 2009). Why project critical success factors often ignored in practice? What factors can influence project success is ubiquitously documented in literatures. • 20. The Year Round Schooling System Essay The traditional school calendar used by most schools in the United States stems from the original agrarian calendar as students were often called to tend to crops in the summer. This was thoughtfully and effectively designed for the time period it was created in; however, schools, research, and society have dramatically changed since then. The agrarian calendar no longer makes sense, as we consider overcrowding in schools and the significant research regarding the summer brain drain. There are several models of year round schooling that would better serve all stakeholders in most communities across the nation. Position and Rationale American students do not need more time in school, but do need access to more rigorous, engaging instruction, as well as a calendar that removes the excessive break schedule (summers) and promotes healthy, regular breaks throughout the year, such as the single track year round schooling system. Year round education includes the possibility of three different formats: single track, multi track, and the extended school year. Rodgers (1993) reports that the United States has the shortest school year of (180 days) of any industrialized nation. She encourages school districts to analyze other models of year round education as a method of boosting student achievement. • 22. Persuasive Essay On Redemption In the Bible there is a story about a cruel and hateful man named Saul. He would track down and kill anyone belonging to the then new Christian faith, and he hated anything to do with Jesus. He would put both men and women into prison, and he was responsible for approving the stoning of one of the seven disciples told to go out and tell people about Jesus, Stephen. And he is probably one of the most classic examples of redemption known to Western Christian civilization. To put his long story concisely, he was traveling to Damascus and then Jesus approached him from heaven, blinding him with light and telling him he needed to do what Jesus said. Blind and helpless, he didn t eat or drink anything for three days, and then Jesus sent a man named Ananias who was actually very much afraid of Saul to heal his blindness, because God had chosen him to be a disciple. When Saul was healed, he turned away from his genocidal ways, and eventually became known as Paul, a messenger of the Good News of Christ and the main writer of a chunk of the New Testament of the Bible. This Saul to Paul effect, while one of the earlier examples of redemption from evil acts, has certainly not been the last. • 23. Analysis Of The World We Have Lost History is a collection of stories, and stories can often differ from the facts. This is because the past can often be distorted and only show certain aspects deemed important. Historian Peter Laslett is frustrated by this and describes in his paper The World We Have Lost how the pre industrial society has been forgotten. Society has mostly been patriarchal in human history. Each household contained roughly 10 20 people, ran by a male master, housing his wife, children, apprentices, and servants. The group was considered a family and usually worked together producing a singular product as well as maintaining the household. Land owning men ran the world and hired those who were less fortunate. Today however, families now consist of related individuals that live separate lives with separate beliefs. Should patriarchy stay in the past or should it be adopted into modern life? I believe that Laslett s lost world was abandoned for a reason and should stay lost due to the modern ideas of choice, change, and culture. Choice is the best part of today s society. The life I am living today would not be possible in patriarchal society. I am living on my own, attending university a thousand miles away from home in a completely different field of my father. If I was living in the lost world , I would be raised to inherit my father s trade like woodworking, farming, etc. I would not have choice and my life would basically be decided before I was born. The sweetness of many memories from that time still stirs and touches me with melancholy: dark and well lit alleys, houses and factories, faces and chimes, rooms affluent and comfortable, snug and amenable, the whole town was pregnant with secrets. The realms of day and night, two different universes coming from two opposite poles, mingled during this time. My parents home belonged to one realm. This realm was familiar to me in many ways strictness and love, model behaviour and school. This realm was thriving in clarity, brilliance and purity, polite conversations and good manners. This was the world in which morning hymns were sung and Christmas celebrated. Straight lines and paths led into the future: there was duty, love, forgiveness, good resolutions, wisdom and reverence. If one wanted an unsullied and ordinary life, one made sure one was in league with this world. The other realm, however, was completely different: it smelt different, spoke a different language, promised and demanded different things. This world contained ghost stories, rumours of scandals and servant girls. It was dominated by a loud mixture of horrendous, intriguing, frightful, mysterious things, including slaughterhouses and prisons, drunkards and screeching fishwives, calving cows, horse sinking to their deaths, talks of robberies, murders and suicides. All these wild and cruel, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main reason for the Common Agricultural policy was to make Agriculture a self sufficient entity in The European Union. The six member states of the European Union proposed to do this by creating a stable market for agricultural produce and at the same time keeping prices at an affordable level for consumers. The heads of the European Union (E.U) believed that Agriculture was one of the most significant industries within the E.U; .and as a result agreed that special attention needed to be focused on this area of European policy. In this paper I will look in detail at the Common Agricultural Policy and then I will examine the controversy associated with the policy. I will look at the steps taken by the E.U to counteract this controversy and whether or not the controversy is likely to continue in the future. The common agricultural policy is funded by means of the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee fund (EAGGF) this fund amounts for almost half of the E.U budget. The EAGGF incorporates two basic areas which are support and guidance, support of prices and markets and to guide rural development. (Nugnet, N. 2003) At the onset of Cap it was thought that revenue generated from import levies would finance the EAGGF but due to the unforeseen and indeed rapid increase in agricultural produce within the E.U and therefore a reduction in imports this has not been the case and the financial burden has fallen on to national governments, however in recent years the E.U has decided to rely on its own resources for the funding of EAGGF. (EL Agrai, Ali. M. 2001) The area of support within the EAGGF ensures that farmers have a market for their goods setting prices which allows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was one of the best nonfiction books I have read in a while. From the instant that I first read the book, I was fascinated by Henrietta s amazing story about an occurrence that changed people worldwide. I was completely shocked that I had never heard before of the Lacks family and of what they were forced to tolerate. The beginning of this book was a wonderful introduction into the reality of their situation. Rebecca Skloot shared Henrietta s story wonderfully; it developed smoothly and drew me in closer at the turn of every single page. She maintained a balanced viewpoint on the argument over the debatable topic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lacks is still a pressing matter. It also showed us that this type of event does not ever stop affecting the lives of those around it. Henrietta s family had a reasonably difficult time adjusting to what was trusted upon them and what they considered to be a true prejudice that forever changed the way they look at the world. HeLa cells saved millions of people. Yet, most of them remain unaware at the source of their redemption. Skloot presents to her readers the real live woman, the children who survived her, and the interaction of race, poverty, science and one of the most important medical discoveries ever. The characteristic work skillfully puts a human face on the questions surrounded by the HeLa cell line. I enjoyed learning about the remarkable influence this woman has made to our scientific advancement. I am hopeful; hopeful that this book will make an impact on the life on Henrietta Lack s family and their descendants. Hopeful, that the world will begin to understand that HeLa is not just a name of a cell but came from a living breathing person called Henrietta Lacks. In the last pages of the book, I mourned the death of a mother, Deborah, but wished to see her wish come true; that her children and grandchildren would have more opportunities and a ... Whether you embrace of shun mobility, your employees are likely to try and find their own mobile workaround. Is this a barrier too high, or could there be a solution? What there was a mobile app that would spontaneously give users a responsive, touch screen, replica of the on premise applications they use to complete their day to day tasks? The app would work on all devices and operating systems automatically, even those that haven t been released yet. In the days before the speech, the British faced a heavy military loss in Belgium and France. Belgium surrendered to the Nazis, stranding numerous French and British troops at Dunkirk and neighboring beaches in France, fully exposed to the advance of the Nazi war machine. Churchill s ultimate goal was to keep fighting until either his country was destroyed or had vanquished his enemies, and this escape, solely due to German error, provided a chance to bring the British to victory. A zoo researcher from the New York Times researched the behaviors of animals as well as what the visitors did to the animals at the Bronx Zoo.
