Dogon Tribe Research Paper
The Dogon tribe has another piece of art a beautiful wood pieces of men and women together as one.
This piece of art can related to us here in the unite state. Many cultures here believe that god made
men and from men he made women. It funny, how the Dogon tribe had the same thing. Their god was
called Amma and he was a man just like our god here. But there is a big different when it comes to
how Amma made men and earth then our story. In the Dogon tribe Amma had made men immortal.
Before he did that it was said that Amma created four male and four female creatures. The males are:
Nommo Die, Nommo Titiyayne, O Nommo and Ogo and were created in the form of fish. But Ogo

Diagnostic Paper on Joan Crawford
Diagnostic Paper on Joan Crawford Abnormal Psychology Dr. Lewis Ethical Disclaimer In writing
this, I am attempting to demonstrate an awareness of ethical practice. In preparation of writing this
paper, I have researched information on the famous person indicated in an effort to make an attempt at
providing a possible diagnosis of a psychological condition for which two theoretical orientations will
be evaluated and used to support what is only an opinion. I am in no way qualified to give a diagnosis
for the people mentioned within this document as it is a document written to demonstrate an
understanding of educational material as it relates to the field of psychology. Any information
mentioned with regard to the mental condition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In consideration of some of Crawford s early childhood occurrences, it may be possible to speculate
on the etiology and possible diagnosis for conditions that Mrs. Crawford might have been suffering
throughout her life. Joan Crawford was born at the turn of the century as Lucille Fay LeSueur in San
Antonio, Texas to a single mother as Joan s father left the family shortly before her birth ( American
Legends, 2013). Though there are claims that her actual birthdate was before 1908, the date printed at
the place of her interment reads as 1908 1977. For Hollywood starlets, lying about age might elongate
audience and industry interest especially in regard to women, therefore it is easy to understand why
the relentlessly ambitious and accomplished actress might have felt compelled to be untruthful over
the years. Crawford had to climb her way to the top never having a moment to assess all the obstacles
with which she would face throughout her life though, according to her, she would never have
accepted professional assessment during her life as she explains to talk show host David Frost, I have
never had to go to a psychologist or psychiatrist because I feel if you have an ounce of good sense and
one good friend, you ll never have to go to a psychiatrist (The David Frost Show, 1970). With
attention to the enormous influence of the Roaring Twenties, Joan Crawford certainly embodied the

not using proper signals. I made a u turn on Martin Luther king Jr.highway and Reed street with the
intent to to pull the vehicle over. Do to the speed of the vehicle and the flow of traffic,I was not able to

asked her who was driving the vehicle and was advised that she lended her vehicle to her friends

the car behind her house. Officer Portor explained to them what had occurred and requested
information on the person that was driving the car. Both Langdon and Lockerman originally said that
they didn t have any information on the person driving the vehicle and we convinced them to call and

we refused to give her name said that the drivers name is Johnathan Anthony White, but did not know
where he lived. A warrant check on that name was done through communications and the results came
back negative results. Because we could not determine the true identity of the driver, we allowed
Langdon to take possession of her vehicle. I advised Langdon that there was no key left in the vehicle

Romeo and Juliet as a Tragedy Essay
Romeo and Juliet as a Tragedy Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy, which was written by William
Shakespeare in 1599. The Elizabethans totally believed in fate, they believed that your destiny was
fated. They also believed that fate was fickle, it could change, one day everything would be good and
the next day things could be really bad. If you challenged fate, it would take up the challenge. If it
wasn t fate there are many more things which could have caused the tragedy; the feud, this means that
everything that happens in Verona ends in violence, Friar Lawrence, shouldn t have married them and
shouldn t have suggested such a dangerous plan, which was playing with their lives, the Nurse should

Juliet is the boss I am the drudge and toil in your delight . Romeo and Juliet meet at the balcony and
Juliet proposes to Romeo, so he goes to the friar to arrange the marriage. The friar marries them, when
he wouldn t normally marry to people from different families because of the feud but this time he
does. He doesn t want to at first, but he changes his mind as he thinks it may end the quarrel between
the two families. But after they have got married; fate seems to turn against them. During the marriage
ceremony Romeo says that now he has married Juliet nothing can go wrong. This challenges fate.
When the fight starts Mercutio and Tybalt are only messing around but Romeo reminds them about the
prince s decree. It is in this fight scene when fate starts to work against Romeo because when he steps
in to stop the fight there is an accident and Mercutio gets killed. A plague a both your houses! They
have made worms meat of me . Mercutio curses both houses because he also blames Romeo for
getting in the way. Romeo should report this to the prince but instead he starts fighting with Tybalt and
this is serious because he reacts with his emotions and wants revenge. O I am fortunes fool Romeo

Criminalization Of Juvenile Prisons
The prison life should not be the life that a child should be stuck in, but rather be rehabilitated through
various programs depending on the crime and the age of the juvenile. Children who grow up in the
prison, or jail systems, are far too often released a better criminal than when they went in, often
referred to as prisonization. They are taught how to better conceal drugs and weapons, cover up
crimes, commit offenses amongst thousands of other heinous crimes. This process not only labels
youth as gang members but instills in them identities and worldviews that rationalize their own
incarceration, extending the prison s ability to categorize people as carceral subjects far beyond the
penitentiary gates (Lopez). Juveniles can often be imprisoned

Freud s Theory Of Dreams
Have you ever wondered why you dreamed? In spite of the fact that the exact meaning of dreams has
yet to be proven, there has been innovative advances to both scientific and psychological
understanding dreams. What is known is that dreams are a series of thoughts, images, and sensations
occurring in a person s mind during sleep. There has been several different theories developed to
explain why we dream but there has yet to be one to be proven to be true.
Sigmund Freud, a famous psychologist, dream theory was one of the first and most in depth. Freud
expressed dreams to be the royal road to the unconscious . In July of 1895, Freud has a dream that
inspired his theory. He had a patient, Irma, who wasn t doing well in treatment. Freud blamed himself
for Irma s failure and he felt guilty. In Freud s dream, he met Irma and examined her, in the dream he
saw a chemical formula for a drug that another doctor had given her. It then dawned on him that it was
not his fault that Irma was not improving. Freud s understood that this dream was a wish fulfillment.
He wished that Irma s incapability was not his fault and his dream made this wish come true, because
it was another doctor s fault. From that day on Freud continued on the belief that dreams were the
fulfillment of wishes. Symbols are the way dreams are interpreted. A symbol can represent any feeling
or idea that has a much deeper meaning than a person might think of. These symbols can leave a
person confused and very

another drink from down stairs evidence from the picture shows Queenie look shocked to see Arthur

the stove is. If queenie was cooking food for her and her friends, why would she trip or push farther

are doing and kill someone. Arthur in the picture is wearing some type of bath robe while he is
walking down the stairs, while Arthur is upstairs in a robe he is probably sleeping or tired. while
Arthur is wearing a robe walking down the stairs arthur was tired he would have a higher chance of
slipping or tripping down the stairs.when you are wearing a robe you are most likely tired. When you

Compare And Contrast Monty Python And The Holy Grail
Chivalry and courtly love are two Arthurian sentiments displayed in Monty Python and the Holy
Grail, Le Morte d Arthur, and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
differs from Le Morte d Arthur and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight because the film satirizes
chivalry and courtly love while the other works are upholding it as orthodox. Courtly love from the
Middle Ages consisted of knights chasing a fair maiden while always being respectful and courteous
to her. Chivalry is a code of conduct that King Arthur s conventional knights uphold, which includes
remaining honorable and ready to help the weak. Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a lampoon that
utilizes satire to ridicule chivalry and courtly love to not only amuse ... Show more content on

This chivalrous act is derided in Monty Python and the Holy Grail when King Arthur confronts the
Black Knight blocking the path to the bridge. King Arthur insists on crossing the bridge instead of
going around, forcing a confrontation between the Arthur and the Black Knight. Arthur shows no
mercy in the battle and cuts the Black Knight s limbs off, one by one. This demonstrates satire because
as the Black Knights limbs are being cut off, King Arthur continues to slice at him, displaying an
exaggeration of showing no mercy. The Black Knight persists against Arthur, also mocking how one
must never recoil before the enemy, even if one s limbs are removed. In Le Morte d Arthur, King
Arthur is merciless against Modred, his bastard son whom attempts to take over King Arthur s
kingdom, and pierces Modred with a spear. This instance is an example of chivalry because King
Arthur does not hesitate to kill his own son nor does he display clemency. Modred as a response does
not recoil, which is also is in the code of conduct of chivalry. When a knight faces the enemy, he
should never flinch or shy away because of fear. This aspect of chivalry is parodied in Monty Python
and the Holy Grail when King Arthur and his knights brawled with the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog.
The Killer Rabbit is an unearthly creature because it leaps incredible lengths and wrenches a knight s
head off with one bite. This scene is executed to make the confrontation appear ridiculous to the
audience by the otherworldly rabbit decapitating one of King Arthur s praised knights, proving them
to be inept in battle. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, the Green Knight, a mystic man with a
green complexion and a body made of nature, challenges a knight to a beheading game. When Sir
Gawain accepts this challenge, he decapitates the Green Knight, whom proceeds to ride away

WORKING COMPUTERS, INC.
Jennifer Sobey, an analyst in the headquarters of Working Computers, has been asked to evaluate
whether or not Working should sell a division of the firm which has been losing market share and
requires a great deal of new investment to remain competitive. The ailing product is a personal data
appliance, or PDA, that once led the market in features and innovation, only to fall prey to
competition from numerous firms once it had paved the way for the product category. Complicating
Jennifer s analysis and recommendation are several political issues involving the wayward division. In
particular, Working s recently returned CEO, Stewart Workman, has decided that the product (the
Bernoulli device) is a loser and has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The division expected to sell a total of 300,000 units by the end of 2003 at a price of $495 each. The
model expected to ship beginning in late 2004 would sell at the same price point. The division s
managers estimated, though, that the revised Bernoulli would have cost of goods sold of 54 percent of
the retail price with higher operating expenses of 26 percent due to increased advertising. Given the
competitive nature of the industry, these price point and cost estimates are expected to remain the
same for the next several years.
For strategic planning purposes, Working s management allocated depreciation to the existing
Bernoulli division as though the entire division was an asset and depreciated it using the straight line
method over 10 years, with five years of operation behind it. The initial investment of $56 million had
been made in early 1999. The new funds allocated to the division would be treated similarly, except
that management had decided that any new investment would be depreciated using the straight line
method over 5 years; due to changes in the industry since 1999, this was expected to be more
consistent with the nature of the market for computing devices and PDAs. Working s managers used a
weighted average cost of capital, or hurdle rate, of 14.5 percent when evaluating capital budgeting
projects, and Jennifer felt that this would be an appropriate

The Titanic Of A Titanic
The Titanic crashed at 2:20 a.m. on April 15, 1912, the British ocean liner sinks into the North Atlantic
Ocean. The massive ship, which carried 2,200 passengers and crew, had struck an iceberg two and half
hours before sinking. The beginning which is the construction of the Titanic took 3 years with the help
anywhere from three thousand to fifteen thousand men. The RMS Titanic took sail April 11, 1912
from Southampton, England in the hopes of New York City. The Titanic s passengers were divided
into three separate classes, determined not only by the price of their ticket but by wealth and social
class, those traveling in first class, the wealthiest passengers on board, were prominent and those
traveling in third class were among the poorest. The Titanic received several warnings throughout its
travel and ignored because the ship was assumed unsinkable. The Titanic eventually hit an iceberg and
it was warned prior to impact. The ship didn t have much time and couldn t do it anything about
impact. It was much too late to retaliate to the wreckage, the only thing they could do was hope.
Aboard the Titanic only seven hundred and six passengers survived that fateful night of April 15,
1912. Even though the Titanic was the biggest ship at its time and thought to be unsinkable, the worst
thing possibly imagined happened and it is with that loss of the ship and lives helpless people, we
today learn that anything can happen at any moment of our lives.

Police Agencies And Police Enforcement Agencies
Abstract
It s important to address the issues police agency s faces on a regular. Police agencies have a number
of problems with controlling racial profiling, maintaining acceptable recruiting and retaining a skilled
workforce, and reducing community violence. These factors are extremely indurate. However, the
issues can be resolved. Law enforcement officers often force to face negative stereotyping.
Nevertheless, police agency s are able to overcome such an obstacle. There exists a growing sentiment
in many communities about the badness of all cops J. Tyler, D. (n.d.). Police agencies are forced to
deal with the struggle of defeating trust issues with the community. Police have experienced problems
with recruiting and selecting applicants. Since September 11, 2001, the problem has become more
acute, as a military reserve call ups and an expanding police role strain agency resources across the
country A. Tangel, W. (2004) . Reducing crime has always been very hard for police to tackle, it s very
hard to measure the performance of law enforcement agencies. Throughout the next three decades,
traditional measures of police agency performance became entrenched within the policing profession
with little debate and little fanfare R. Maguire, E. (2010). However, again there are numbers of
solutions for these issues. One good, useful solution would to be get more money for the law
enforcement that would be embarkation. Law enforcers will be able to assist with training and

Mental Health Services In Schools
The Need of Mental Health Services in Schools Mental health is vital in every stage of life. It heavily
influences the way people think, communicate, and handle difficulties. The absence of mental health
services, especially for a person who really needs it, can be detrimental to lives. To best assist an
individual in becoming a contributive citizen, these services must be accessible at an early age. I
firmly believe that P 12 schools should integrate comprehensive mental health services due to being
essential factors in the emotions, attitudes, and behavior of students. One in five youth live with a
mental health condition, but less than half of these individuals receive needed services. Undiagnosed,

Schools also incorporate physical health services and implement them as necessities. What about
mental health? Is this not crucial in one s behavior, physical abilities, and choices? Mental health plays
a major factor on a students performance and capacity. Students with mental health issues can lead
towards the following behavior paths: dropping out of school; having difficulties in learning, behavior,
and or performance; truancy issues; and school failure. If the lack of mental health in schools can have
such an enormous impact on student achievement and school success, why is it not being included in
schools? Mental health plays an important role in the school systems not only for students, but for
teachers as well. Mental health services can support and be as beneficial to teachers as it can be for
students. Educators face hardships at home and work. They must also learn how to successfully
manage their mental obstacles. Teachers with mental health issues can affect his or her effectiveness in

How Does Nitrate Contamination Of Groundwater
Nitrate Contamination of Ground Water
The Earth s surface is covered by massive amounts of water, but only a small measure of it is safe for
consumption. With a very limited supply, we need to focus our energies on preserving its quality and
quantity. Nitrates pose a great threat to our precious groundwater. There are many ways that
groundwater can be contaminated, but most aren t nearly as detrimental as an increase in the amount
of nitrates within our groundwater.
How do nitrates get into the water? We can help you with this answer. Nitrates get into the
groundwater from a variety of sources: some involve pastoral farming, market gardening, application
of nitrogenous fertilizers, and industrial and sewage waste disposal. ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
We know that the results of these practices as well as many others accumulate underground rather
quickly and damage the quality of the water supply.
Contamination of groundwater is also affected by weather, soil types, and the depth of the aquifer. If it
is less than 100 feet to the water table, the vulnerability of contamination is increased. In the Midwest,
with a sandy to loamy soil, the groundwater will become more susceptible toward nitrate
contamination. In areas where the soil composition is more of a clay compound, no matter if there is
an over use of fertilizer, the vulnerability of the groundwater is greatly reduced. This is the type of
situation that occurs in places like southern Indiana where the soils drain very poorly. Through the
many factors that are involved, we, as a society, have gained a great amount of knowledge on how to
reduce the amount of nitrates in the water source.
A couple of the most widely recognized concerns of high nitrates in water is its cause of
methemoglobinemia, more commonly referred to as blue baby syndrome, and other blood disorders. If
we don t start fixing the problem now, the critical effects of dangerous nitrate levels in the water
supply will be around for decades, and become increasingly difficult to manage.
There are a variety of approaches to avoiding the utilization of inadequate techniques. Individuals can
test soils before applying fertilizers, improve storage of fertilizers, test well

Global Positioning System Advantages And Disadvantages

Due to its low cost, it is very easy to integrate into other technologies like cell phone.
The system is updated regularly by the US government and hence is very advance.
This is the best navigating system in water as in larger water bodies we are often misled due to lack of
proper directions.
Disadvantages of GPS:
Sometimes the GPS may fail due to certain reasons and in that case you need to carry a backup map
and directions.
If you are using GPS on a battery operated device, there may be a battery failure and you may need a
external power supply which is not always possible.
Sometimes the GPS signals are not accurate due to some obstacles to the signals such as buildings,
trees and sometimes by extreme atmospheric conditions such as geomagnetic storms.

The Fifth Business And The Manticore By Robertson Davies
There is one human emotion that can paralyse us, lead us to lie both to ourselves and others, to take
action that we don t like, and to cripple any rational thought processes. It is self perpetuating if
allowed to get out of control. Its side effects are either anger, aggressiveness or fear and reclusiveness.
Its symptoms are irrational behaviour, lying, anguish, lack of self esteem, and in extreme cases,
thoughts of suicide. It is guilt. In both novels The Fifth Business and The Manticore by Robertson
Davies, guilt is a reoccurring theme throughout the novels and is a major force in one s life. Davies
demonstrates this by having both character feeling guilt. While both novels demonstrated themes of
guilt, Guilt comes from terrible Childhood experiences is a topic that keeps running all through both
The Fifth Business and returns throughout the following book in the series, The Manticore , and its
effect on the lives of the characters Dunstan Ramsay in Fifth Business and David Staunton in The
Manticore . Both Character show events of guilt in the past appear to shape the whole course life they
take, how compromise is a must before true identity or personality can be uncovered, and their similar
thoughts on religion: however, the main character in Fifth Business shows a stronger effect of guilt
due to horrible childhood incident.

Human Nature In Tell-Tale Heart By Edgar Allan Poe
Wallace Stevens, a poet, once said Human nature is like water. It takes the shape of its container. Even
though everyone has the same aspects of human nature, they are established in different individuals or
containers , who have distinct combinations of background and experiences. Every individual has the
same psychological traits, actions, and characteristics, but they are displayed in a different manner.
Through the common social and emotional qualities of a fictional character and the reader, an author
can express aspects of human nature that reality alters and distorts.
In fictional works, the fantasy world created by the author contains a sense of truth that is exaggerated
that reality cannot replicate. For instance, in the short ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

example leads to the the assumption that humans naturally do not want to stay in an uncomfortable
situation. Instead, the individual will make an effort to get out of this circumstance, and in the case of
The Tell Tale Heart, the protagonist took extreme measures to get rid of this discomfort. In this
fictional world, the aspects of human nature are amplified from the improbable situation which makes
truths about human nature clear for the reader to understand. Furthermore, from the short story The
Possibility of Evil by Shirley Jackson, the protagonist Miss Adela Strangeworth is depicted as a two
faced woman who seems to have good relationships with her neighbor in person, but internally, she
believes that people everywhere were lustful and evil and degraded, and needed to be watched
(Jackson 6), so she secretly writes rude, subjective letters to her neighbors criticizing their actions.

Pros And Cons Of The French And Indian War
These disgusting, filthy colonists think that they are in control. I mean honestly, what do they think
they know about running a colony and making people pay taxes after a war. They need to understand
that being run by the British is the only way they can survive. On top of that this guy named Benjamin
Franklin thinks he can unite the colonies by making a poster. They don t need unity, they need a ruler
that can guide them through our economic troubles.Join or Die? What was he thinking anyways? The
French and Indian War was an expensive war we need to pay off the debt somehow. Were not being
unreasonable anyways,. How much harm could a couple of taxes do anyways? The colonists are
making too much of a big deal over nothing. For example the tea act which puts a tax on tea is fair for
the colonists and even beneficial. For instance the price of tea has actually gone down instead of going
up. And who cares if the East India Company has a monopoly over the industry. People in the colonies
could always find a new job. Furthermore the declaratory act may even help the colonies since the
great and powerful British parliament has full control of the colonies. Finally the reaction to the
quartering act is completely inappropriate. Those soldiers fought their hardest to protect the colonies
carry the colonists through battle. The least they can do is give them the respect and dignity that they
rightfully deserve. There are around 10,000 soldiers in the colonies and they need a

Analyzing The Current And Future Economic Status Of Ohio
Analyzing the Current and Future Economic Status of Ohio
Abdulaziz Musallam December 4, 2014
Analyzing the Current and Future Economic Status of Ohio
This paper will start by tackling the economic situation in Ohio by defining the main terms which we
will use from time to time in this economic analysis. We will define recession and depression in order
to put these matters in the right perspective. According to the National Bureau of Economic Research
(NBER), recession is the period when business activities have reached its peak and a fall starts. This
continues until the time when those business activities reach the bottom. In average, a recession lasts
for one year. Depression on the other hand is a downturn in economic activity. A great example is the
Great Depression of 1930. The term recession was coined during this period in order to differentiate
the event of 1930 from the smaller economic declines of 1910 and 1913 (Smiley, 2008). So we can
lightly say that a depression can be said to be a recession that lasts longer and its business activity
decline is larger.
Having defined both the recession and depression, we can point out the difference. The changes in
GNP are the best test to use in getting the differences between the two terms. For a depression, the
GNP declines by more than 10 per cent (Moffat, n.d). On the other hand a recession is an economic
decline that is less severe. A number of world leaders have warmed of the looming economic

Tennessee Chief Justice Of The United States
Earl Warren was a politician and eventually a renown jurist. He served as the 30th Governor of
California and the 14th Chief Justice of the U.S. As the 14th Chief Justice, he was in charge of the
Warren Court, now known as one of the most liberal courts in the history of the U.S. Warren led
landmark decisions like Brown v. Board of Education, Gideon v. Wainwright, Reynolds v. Sims, and
Miranda v. Arizona that strengthened the power of the judicial branch to be in par with the other two
branches. Warren and his court desegregated public schools and other public sectors, defended the
rights of the accused, banned in school prayers, and instated one man one vote rule in voting districts.
Warren s dedication in desegregation showed how he succeeded in keeping all segregation cases
unanimous. Warren, appointed by Lyndon B. Johnson, headed a panel known as the Warren
Commission to investigate President Kennedy s assassination. Furthermore, Warren, during his time in
Court, nationalized the Bill of Rights to all states. Moreover, Warren and his Court in the landmark
case of Griswold v. Connecticut, established and protected the right to privacy.
George Gallup was a pioneer in survey sampling techniques and founded Gallup Inc., known for the

Militarization Of Law Enforcement
Over the past few decades there has been a drastic shift towards an almost completely militarized
police force around the world. Local, national and even international law enforcement agencies are
militarizing to face modern day threats. Law enforcement agencies around the world have been forced
to militarize in order to properly respond to the ever growing arsenals of terrorist and criminal
enterprises. This will be examined through looking at the globalization of militarizing police forces,
the violent criminal, problems with the militarized force, use of the military equipment, and finally the
justification for using military equipment.
When the evolution and globalization of the arms race hit the civilian and black market it provided the

SWAT teams were created in the late 1960s as quasi militaristic squads capable of addressing serious
and violent situations that presented imminent threats such as riots, barricade and hostage scenarios,
and active shooter or sniper situations (Dansky, p66). The multitude of situations that the SWAT teams
were created to handle are not due to theoretical situations, they were created because these situations
have happened before and the law enforcement community needed a specialized response team to
handle them. In addition to this some countries created these specialized teams in response to events
that happened, for example New Zealand established the AOS as a result of the killing of four officers
within a month (Kappeler, p2). The fact that the entire globe is militarizing helps law enforcement
agencies around the world assist each other in training and techniques so everyone can stay current on
all of the potential threats from transnational criminal organizations. Like professor Wonders said in

How It Feels To Be Colored Me By Zora Neale Hurston
Before laws were passed for equality, African Americans had a difficult time coping with being
undermined by whites. This led them to build their own communities and remain among their own.
The story How it Feels to be Colored Me by Zora Neale Hurston was written in 1928, about her
moving from a community of her own kind to neighbors who discriminated against her and her family.
Though a person s environment can affect how they see himself/herself or how others might perceive
him/her, difficult times does not exactly mean that a person will become bitter or vengeful about it. In
the beginning of Zora s story, she stated a strong quote that solidified her black identity. She said, I am
colored but I offer nothing in the way of extenuating circumstances except the fact that I am the only
Negro in the United States whose grandfather on the mother s side was not an Indian chief (Hurston,
1928). She goes on to mention that the only encounters that she had from native whites were the ones
passing through the town of Eatonville, Florida that she would wave to. Zora saw no color. Her
comfort zone was in that small town. She was known as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

move did not break her spirit. This is known because she says that, I am not tragically colored
(Hurston, 1928). Zora makes it known that she is not ashamed to be colored. Though white people
would make it a point to mention how blacks are progressing in times, she refuses to stay tied to the
memory of slavery or feel disgraced because she is

The Early 1990’S Were A Period Of Change For America. America
The early 1990 s were a period of change for America. America was fresh off the ending of the Cold
War and had newly elected President Bill Clinton. This was the first Democratic president since
Jimmy Carter, who led from 1977 81. Americans voted for change and Bill Clinton brought forth that
message in his 1993 inaugural address. Bill Clinton strongly and confidently addressed the world on
January 20, 1993. He called for a renewal of America through positive change and increased
responsibility amongst American citizens. Like any inaugural address, Bill Clinton wanted to reassure
the citizens of the United States who voted for him; but, also wanted to gain favorability amongst the
rest of the citizens. He appealed to the ideals of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

There is nothing wrong with America that cannot be cured by what is right with America. And so
today we pledge an end to the era of deadlock and drift, and a new season of American renewal has
begun. (lines 37 38)
Bill Clinton went on to talk in several paragraphs about the renewal of America. His focus was
directly on the economy and investing in American jobs. He said we must do what America does best:
offer more opportunity to all and demand more responsibility from all. He challenged young
Americans to a season of service. To bring his point across, Bill Clinton used the appeal of ethos a
great deal. He referred to past presidents and scripture. Thomas Jefferson believed that to preserve the
very foundations of our Nation, we would need dramatic change from time to time. Well, my fellow
Americans, this is our time. Let us embrace it. (lines 35 36) He s implying that a respected former
president says change is good and needed, so why not now? Let us resolve to make our Government a

tomorrows, not our yesterdays. Let us give this Capital back to the people to whom it belongs. (lines

Essay about Sir Isaac Newton’s Principia and the Royal...
The publication of Isaac Newton s Principia Mathematica is widely considered an extraordinary event
in the history of science. In the Principia, Newton introduced a system of mechanical explanation of
the world that revolutionized physics. Of particular importance in the Principia was Newton s
mathematical demonstration of the existence of the force of gravity, which he demonstrated to be at
work in a wide range of phenomena. But as revolutionary as Newton s discovery and demonstration
was, the Principia also represented a revolution in the goals of science. Newton s Principia helped to
shift the course of science from an effort to find first causes into an attempt to establish a set of

The most fundamental impact of the existence of the Royal Society on the trajectory of scientific
inquiry was its fostering of a community of scientific intellectuals. The Royal Society provided a
journal for publishing scientific works (the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society), a
prestigious title for its elected Fellows, and even salaried jobs for its officers. With this support for the
work of intellectuals dedicated to science, the Royal Society promoted a network of individuals with
which those with new ideas could cooperate, correspond, and debate. This function of the Royal
Society deeply impacted both the creation and the dissemination of Isaac Newton s ideas. Indeed,
before the Principia, Newton was reluctant to publish his mathematical or scientific works, opting
instead to perfect and disseminate his discoveries by corresponding with other intellectuals. It was the
Royal Society s creation of a community of intellectuals that allowed for this process to occur: most of
Newton s correspondents were either direct employees or elected Fellows of the Royal Society, such
as Henry Oldenburg, Edmond Halley, John Craig, John Collins, and others. Further, even when
unpublished, many of Newton s manuscripts were deposited at the library Royal Society in London
for others to read and learn from. This network of individuals in a focused scientific community would
prove an invaluable resource for Newton in

Chlamydia Urethritis
Chlamydia is a bacterial sexually transmitted disease caused by the pathogen Chlamydia trachomatis
that can be found in the mucous membranes of the genital region, the throat, and the eyes (Malhotra
2014). It is an obligate intracellular parasite that is gram negative and cocci. The pathogen is mainly
transmitted between sexual partners during sexual intercourse. However, if a pregnant female is
infected with the pathogen she can transmit it to her child during a vaginal delivery with the baby
passes through the mothers birth canal. Chlamydia trachomatis can cause urethritis in males and
mucopurulent cervicitis, urethritis, and endometritis in females (Harryman et al. 2014). Mucopurulent

However, if symptoms do occur, they are often times nonspecific. Women may experience abnormal
vaginal discharge, dysuria, and post coital or intermenstrual bleeding. Men may experience urethral
discharge and occasionally experience symptoms of epididymo orchitis, which results in pain and
swelling of the epididymis and testis. Men and women both can experience rectal bleeding at the
infection site (Malhotra et al. 2013). Signs of a Chlamydia trachomatis infection can be seen utilizing
different nucleotide amplification tests that are highly specific and can be used for non invasive
specimens including urine and vulval swabs (Malhotra et al. 2013). If Chlamydia trachomatis is left
untreated, it can lead to chronic asymptomatic infection, which as a result can lead to infertility in
females. Chlamydia trachomatis can lead to chronic inflammation of the Fallopian tubes in which the
pathogen is present in the tubal lumen which contributes to infertility (Svensson et al. 1985).
Chlamydia trachomatis is the most common etiological agent of acute salpingitis, an infection of the
fallopian tubes, which can cause a woman to have an ectopic pregnancy in which the egg implants
itself outside of the mother s uterus. If the ectopic pregnancy is left untreated the mother could
potentially die as a result of damage to the surrounding organs or loss of large amounts of
blood(Svensson et al.

In contrast, the citizenship emphasizes people s social and ecological responsibility. Consumers are
supposed to be concerned with the environmental sustainability when they are consuming.
To begin with, Ben Jerry s focuses more on their sourcing than the ecological sustainability. The
company feels honored that the ingredients of their ice creams are from across the country. For
instance, they emphasize that the nuts in Rainforest Crunch ice cream are supplied from native
peoples of the Amazon (Mirvis, 1994). Only five percent of the nuts are from local farms (Murray,
2015). Peaches are purchased from a Georgia peach growers co operative, cherries are from Pacific
Northwest and wild blueberries are from Native American tribes in Maine (Mirvis, 1994). The
chocolate brownies used in ice cream sandwiches are shipped from Greystone Bakeries, a small
business run by Buddhist monks. However, Freeman (2010) suggests that eating more local and
organic food is a more environmentally efficient way to achieve the sustainability of nature (Freeman,

Analysis Of That Lean And Hungry Look By Suzanne Britt
We All Can be Equal A few of the many problems in this world occur because we judge each other
based on our differences whether is be, color, size, or shape. An example of one of the biggest
differences would be size. Suzanne Britt discussed her view of fat and thin people in a brief essay
called, That Lean and Hungry Look where she explains how fat people are far better than thin people.
She states, You ve got your together thin person, your mechanical thin person, your condescending
thin person, your tsk tsk thin person, your efficiency thin person (Britt 181). Many people in society
actually go off of Britts statement, everyone puts fat and thin people into separate categories just
because that is the way it has always been. There are many examples of how we see each other in
categories, but in the end there s always a fact that disproves it. One of the most biased categories thin

The Backbone Of A Recreational Sport And Organization
CHAPTER TWO: REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Chapter Overview
Introduction
The backbone of a recreational sport and organization are the volunteers committed to the success and
continuation of the organization. The most important group of individuals within a youth sports
organization is volunteer coaches (Bouchet and Lehe, pg. 21, 2010). The diversity of a community
organization requires many unique needs to be addressed and serviced. The greater the diversity of a
group, the more likely different individuals with varied backgrounds are required. The influence of
volunteers allows youth teams and leagues to fill their needs (Bouchet and Lehe, 2010). Volunteer
recreational sports organizations are then charged with identifying and convincing a ... Show more

Regardless the reason for their involvement, the general disposition of these coaches presents an
opportunity for education and increasing efficacy. Volunteer coaches were sought to have an
intentional disposition to learning for reasons such as inquisitiveness, self efficacy, and open
mindedness (Griffiths and Armour, 2013). Additionally, the disposition of reciprocity for volunteer
coaches to gain knowledge included reasons of cooperation and mutual exchange of information
(Griffiths and Armour, 2013). The review of literature intends to display the research surrounding
volunteer recreational youth sport coaches, the motivators for participation, and the educational
opportunities for this population.
Terms and Definitions A key to defining this group and their responsibilities is to explain their status.
The term volunteer is defined as, persons who did unpaid work (except for expenses) through or for an
organization (USDL, 2015). The nature of a professional, or someone who is paid for their work,
demonstrates an implicit motivator in the payment. The duties and responsibilities that are performed
by the person whether the duties are assigned or created by the person also have a general connotation.
The collection of activities these individuals perform is known in the literature as volunteering

Essay On Chocolate Labour In West Africa
Do you enjoy eating chocolate? Many people around the world love eating chocolate. People in the
United States eat around 120 chocolate bars each year. But would you still enjoy eating that chocolate
bar if you knew that the chocolate that is used to make those delicious bars comes from the forced
labor of young children? Chocolate is made from cacao beans that grow in tropical places like West
Africa. The countries in West Africa supply more than 70 percent of the world s cocoa. They sell the
cocoa they grow and harvest to many of the chocolate companies who make our chocolate candy bars.
In recent years, news reporters, as well as human rights organizations around the world, have
discovered that there is widespread child slavery for growing and harvesting cocoa beans on cocoa
farms in West Africa. As chocolate has gotten more popular around the world, so has the demand for
cheap cocoa. Many cocoa farmers earn less than $2 per day. To help keep the cost of cocoa low, they
use children as workers. The children living in West Africa are very poor. Some of these children go to
work on cocoa farms because their desperately poor families need them to earn money. Other children
are taken against their will from small villages and sold to cocoa farm owners. These children work 80
to 100 hours a week. They are not paid. They do not go to school. They are often beaten if they try to
escape. Most of these children are between the ages of 11 and 16, but some people have seen

this is where producers in developing countries are working in better trading conditions and are

A regulation has two standards outcome standards and process standards. Outcome standards can be

location, economy, and cultural values. A successful government required maintaining the service to
the people, stability and urban growth. Whereas, the downfall of an empire was usually caused by

Diagnostic Paper on Joan Crawford Diagnostic Paper on Joan Crawford Abnormal Psychology Dr. Lewis Ethical Disclaimer In writing this, I am attempting to demonstrate an awareness of ethical practice. In preparation of writing this paper, I have researched information on the famous person indicated in an effort to make an attempt at providing a possible diagnosis of a psychological condition for which two theoretical orientations will be evaluated and used to support what is only an opinion. I am in no way qualified to give a diagnosis for the people mentioned within this document as it is a document written to demonstrate an understanding of educational material as it relates to the field of psychology. In consideration of some of Crawford s early childhood occurrences, it may be possible to speculate on the etiology and possible diagnosis for conditions that Mrs. Crawford might have been suffering throughout her life. Joan Crawford was born at the turn of the century as Lucille Fay LeSueur in San Antonio, Texas to a single mother as Joan s father left the family shortly before her birth ( American Legends, 2013). Though there are claims that her actual birthdate was before 1908, the date printed at the place of her interment reads as 1908 1977. For Hollywood starlets, lying about age might elongate audience and industry interest especially in regard to women, therefore it is easy to understand why the relentlessly ambitious and accomplished actress might have felt compelled to be untruthful over the years. Crawford had to climb her way to the top never having a moment to assess all the obstacles with which she would face throughout her life though, according to her, she would never have accepted professional assessment during her life as she explains to talk show host David Frost, I have never had to go to a psychologist or psychiatrist because I feel if you have an ounce of good sense and one good friend, you ll never have to go to a psychiatrist (The David Frost Show, 1970). Criminalization Of Juvenile Prisons The prison life should not be the life that a child should be stuck in, but rather be rehabilitated through various programs depending on the crime and the age of the juvenile. Children who grow up in the prison, or jail systems, are far too often released a better criminal than when they went in, often referred to as prisonization. They are taught how to better conceal drugs and weapons, cover up crimes, commit offenses amongst thousands of other heinous crimes. This process not only labels youth as gang members but instills in them identities and worldviews that rationalize their own incarceration, extending the prison s ability to categorize people as carceral subjects far beyond the penitentiary gates (Lopez). • 7. Freud s Theory Of Dreams Have you ever wondered why you dreamed? In spite of the fact that the exact meaning of dreams has yet to be proven, there has been innovative advances to both scientific and psychological understanding dreams. What is known is that dreams are a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person s mind during sleep. There has been several different theories developed to explain why we dream but there has yet to be one to be proven to be true. Sigmund Freud, a famous psychologist, dream theory was one of the first and most in depth. Freud expressed dreams to be the royal road to the unconscious . In July of 1895, Freud has a dream that inspired his theory. He had a patient, Irma, who wasn t doing well in treatment. Freud blamed himself for Irma s failure and he felt guilty. In Freud s dream, he met Irma and examined her, in the dream he saw a chemical formula for a drug that another doctor had given her. It then dawned on him that it was not his fault that Irma was not improving. Freud s understood that this dream was a wish fulfillment. He wished that Irma s incapability was not his fault and his dream made this wish come true, because it was another doctor s fault. From that day on Freud continued on the belief that dreams were the fulfillment of wishes. Symbols are the way dreams are interpreted. • 10. Compare And Contrast Monty Python And The Holy Grail Chivalry and courtly love are two Arthurian sentiments displayed in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Le Morte d Arthur, and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Monty Python and the Holy Grail differs from Le Morte d Arthur and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight because the film satirizes chivalry and courtly love while the other works are upholding it as orthodox. Courtly love from the Middle Ages consisted of knights chasing a fair maiden while always being respectful and courteous to her. Chivalry is a code of conduct that King Arthur s conventional knights uphold, which includes remaining honorable and ready to help the weak. This chivalrous act is derided in Monty Python and the Holy Grail when King Arthur confronts the Black Knight blocking the path to the bridge. King Arthur insists on crossing the bridge instead of going around, forcing a confrontation between the Arthur and the Black Knight. Arthur shows no mercy in the battle and cuts the Black Knight s limbs off, one by one. This demonstrates satire because as the Black Knights limbs are being cut off, King Arthur continues to slice at him, displaying an exaggeration of showing no mercy. The Black Knight persists against Arthur, also mocking how one must never recoil before the enemy, even if one s limbs are removed. In Le Morte d Arthur, King Arthur is merciless against Modred, his bastard son whom attempts to take over King Arthur s kingdom, and pierces Modred with a spear. This instance is an example of chivalry because King Arthur does not hesitate to kill his own son nor does he display clemency. Modred as a response does not recoil, which is also is in the code of conduct of chivalry. When a knight faces the enemy, he should never flinch or shy away because of fear. This aspect of chivalry is parodied in Monty Python and the Holy Grail when King Arthur and his knights brawled with the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog. The Killer Rabbit is an unearthly creature because it leaps incredible lengths and wrenches a knight s head off with one bite. This scene is executed to make the confrontation appear ridiculous to the audience by the otherworldly rabbit decapitating one of King Arthur s praised knights, proving them to be inept in battle. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, the Green Knight, a mystic man with a green complexion and a body made of nature, challenges a knight to a beheading game. The division s managers estimated, though, that the revised Bernoulli would have cost of goods sold of 54 percent of the retail price with higher operating expenses of 26 percent due to increased advertising. Given the competitive nature of the industry, these price point and cost estimates are expected to remain the same for the next several years. The new funds allocated to the division would be treated similarly, except that management had decided that any new investment would be depreciated using the straight line method over 5 years; due to changes in the industry since 1999, this was expected to be more consistent with the nature of the market for computing devices and PDAs. Contamination of groundwater is also affected by weather, soil types, and the depth of the aquifer. If it is less than 100 feet to the water table, the vulnerability of contamination is increased. In the Midwest, with a sandy to loamy soil, the groundwater will become more susceptible toward nitrate contamination. In areas where the soil composition is more of a clay compound, no matter if there is an over use of fertilizer, the vulnerability of the groundwater is greatly reduced. This is the type of situation that occurs in places like southern Indiana where the soils drain very poorly. Through the many factors that are involved, we, as a society, have gained a great amount of knowledge on how to reduce the amount of nitrates in the water source. A couple of the most widely recognized concerns of high nitrates in water is its cause of methemoglobinemia, more commonly referred to as blue baby syndrome, and other blood disorders. • 26. Analyzing The Current And Future Economic Status Of Ohio Analyzing the Current and Future Economic Status of Ohio Abdulaziz Musallam December 4, 2014 Analyzing the Current and Future Economic Status of Ohio This paper will start by tackling the economic situation in Ohio by defining the main terms which we will use from time to time in this economic analysis. We will define recession and depression in order to put these matters in the right perspective. According to the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), recession is the period when business activities have reached its peak and a fall starts. This continues until the time when those business activities reach the bottom. In average, a recession lasts for one year. Depression on the other hand is a downturn in economic activity. A great example is the Great Depression of 1930. The term recession was coined during this period in order to differentiate the event of 1930 from the smaller economic declines of 1910 and 1913 (Smiley, 2008). So we can lightly say that a depression can be said to be a recession that lasts longer and its business activity decline is larger. Having defined both the recession and depression, we can point out the difference. The changes in GNP are the best test to use in getting the differences between the two terms. For a depression, the GNP declines by more than 10 per cent (Moffat, n.d). On the other hand a recession is an economic decline that is less severe. He served as the 30th Governor of California and the 14th Chief Justice of the U.S. As the 14th Chief Justice, he was in charge of the Warren Court, now known as one of the most liberal courts in the history of the U.S. Warren led landmark decisions like Brown v. Board of Education, Gideon v. Wainwright, Reynolds v. Sims, and Miranda v. Arizona that strengthened the power of the judicial branch to be in par with the other two branches. Warren and his court desegregated public schools and other public sectors, defended the rights of the accused, banned in school prayers, and instated one man one vote rule in voting districts. Warren s dedication in desegregation showed how he succeeded in keeping all segregation cases unanimous. Warren, appointed by Lyndon B. Johnson, headed a panel known as the Warren Commission to investigate President Kennedy s assassination. Furthermore, Warren, during his time in Court, nationalized the Bill of Rights to all states. Moreover, Warren and his Court in the landmark case of Griswold v. Connecticut, established and protected the right to privacy. Local, national and even international law enforcement agencies are militarizing to face modern day threats. Law enforcement agencies around the world have been forced to militarize in order to properly respond to the ever growing arsenals of terrorist and criminal enterprises. SWAT teams were created in the late 1960s as quasi militaristic squads capable of addressing serious and violent situations that presented imminent threats such as riots, barricade and hostage scenarios, and active shooter or sniper situations (Dansky, p66). The multitude of situations that the SWAT teams were created to handle are not due to theoretical situations, they were created because these situations have happened before and the law enforcement community needed a specialized response team to handle them. In addition to this some countries created these specialized teams in response to events that happened, for example New Zealand established the AOS as a result of the killing of four officers within a month (Kappeler, p2). The fact that the entire globe is militarizing helps law enforcement agencies around the world assist each other in training and techniques so everyone can stay current on all of the potential threats from transnational criminal organizations. This led them to build their own communities and remain among their own. The story How it Feels to be Colored Me by Zora Neale Hurston was written in 1928, about her moving from a community of her own kind to neighbors who discriminated against her and her family. Though a person s environment can affect how they see himself/herself or how others might perceive him/her, difficult times does not exactly mean that a person will become bitter or vengeful about it. In the beginning of Zora s story, she stated a strong quote that solidified her black identity. She said, I am colored but I offer nothing in the way of extenuating circumstances except the fact that I am the only Negro in the United States whose grandfather on the mother s side was not an Indian chief (Hurston, 1928). He said we must do what America does best: offer more opportunity to all and demand more responsibility from all. He challenged young Americans to a season of service. To bring his point across, Bill Clinton used the appeal of ethos a great deal. He referred to past presidents and scripture. Thomas Jefferson believed that to preserve the very foundations of our Nation, we would need dramatic change from time to time. Well, my fellow Americans, this is our time. Let us embrace it. With this support for the work of intellectuals dedicated to science, the Royal Society promoted a network of individuals with which those with new ideas could cooperate, correspond, and debate. This function of the Royal Society deeply impacted both the creation and the dissemination of Isaac Newton s ideas. Indeed, before the Principia, Newton was reluctant to publish his mathematical or scientific works, opting instead to perfect and disseminate his discoveries by corresponding with other intellectuals. It was the Royal Society s creation of a community of intellectuals that allowed for this process to occur: most of Newton s correspondents were either direct employees or elected Fellows of the Royal Society, such as Henry Oldenburg, Edmond Halley, John Craig, John Collins, and others. People in the United States eat around 120 chocolate bars each year. But would you still enjoy eating that chocolate bar if you knew that the chocolate that is used to make those delicious bars comes from the forced labor of young children? Chocolate is made from cacao beans that grow in tropical places like West Africa. The countries in West Africa supply more than 70 percent of the world s cocoa. They sell the cocoa they grow and harvest to many of the chocolate companies who make our chocolate candy bars. In recent years, news reporters, as well as human rights organizations around the world, have discovered that there is widespread child slavery for growing and harvesting cocoa beans on cocoa farms in West Africa. As chocolate has gotten more popular around the world, so has the demand for cheap cocoa. Many cocoa farmers earn less than $2 per day. To help keep the cost of cocoa low, they use children as workers. The children living in West Africa are very poor. Some of these children go to work on cocoa farms because their desperately poor families need them to earn money. Other children are taken against their will from small villages and sold to cocoa farm owners. These children work 80 to 100 hours a week. They are not paid. They do not go to school.
