Philosophy is the love of wisdom and is divided into main branches of study. The core branches are metaphysics, which studies the fundamental nature of reality; epistemology, which concerns the nature and scope of knowledge; and ethics/axiology, which are concerned with questions of value and morality. Some main philosophical approaches discussed include idealism, which sees the world as composed primarily of mind; realism which sees an objective reality independent of mind; and experimentalism which advocates inquiry and application of scientific method to philosophy.
