Silverbrook Road and Southrun Road Intersection improvements project was substantially completed on April 12, 2021. The overall project scope was to the increase in pedestrian safety along Silverbrook Road and its intersection with Southrun Road. The new pedestrian walkway consisted of 83 lineal feet of 5-foot-wide concrete sidewalk along with 224 lineal feet of 6-foot-wide asphalt walking path. Additionally, the Right Turn from Silverbrook Road onto Southrun Road was improved and lengthened. Along with the access improvements upgrades were made to the storm drain system and minor re-alignments of waterlines.

PowerPoint Westmoreland Street Bike Lanes - substantial completion

Westmoreland Street bike lanes project was substantially completed on April 12, 2021. The project scope was the extension of road bike lanes along both sides of Westmoreland Street north of Rosemont Drive toward Old Chesterbrook Road. Works on the project included roadway widening, approximately 400 feet long concrete variable width sidewalk, curb and gutters, driveway entrances, bus stop loading pad, milling and paving, pavement marking and signs.

North West Street Sidewalk Improvements project was substantially completed on February 10, 2021. As part of this project, the North West Street - Great Falls Street intersection was reconstructed, and the traffic signal was replaced. The North West St. Sidewalk project is located in both Fairfax County and the City of Falls Church. Merrifield Nursery Emergency Gravity Sewer Replacement

During a routine Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Camera inspection by Wastewater Collection Division (WCD), it was found that 45 linear feet of 8-inch asbestos reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) between MH-292 to MH-291 was within imminent danger of failing. The bottom of the RCP was missing within the 45 linear feet of repair and the pipe was on the verge of surcharging. After an immediate pre-construction meeting with Merrifield Nursery, it was agreed to work from 6pm-10am everyday of the week to avoid disruption and potentially placing patrons at risk during the biggest time of the year for Merrifield Garden Center. The contractor mobilized to the site and began the 20-foot excavation to replace 45 linear feet of broken gravity sewer. The project started on March 14th, 2022 and was substantially complete on March 23, 2022.

SULLY BASINS STORMWATER POND RETROFITS

The project consisted of repair and enhancement of multiple stormwater basins, 0326DP, 0964DP and 1484DP.
