2. FMP Concept
For my 'Final Major Project', I am going to be creating a marketing/promotional package
for an original film concept in the 'superhero' genre. This package will include posters in
different formats, magazine covers and merchandise.
I decided to choose this for my FMP because I would like to work in the graphic design field
in the future. Creating this package will allow me to demonstrate a multitude of my skills
using Adobe software and express creativity and my ideas on a range of products. I chose
to base my project around the superhero film genre because I am heavily inspired and
influenced by existing films and comics in this genre. I also feel that with this topic, you can
be as creative and experimental as you wish when creating characters and film concepts
and there is lots of room for creativity when designing merchandise also.

3. The Sorceress: Character Description and Blurb
Born on the brightest star Vega was a powerful being named Onyx, her destiny was to watch
over and protect the Earth from otherworldly threats. This is her origin story.
Onyx is a being that has been watching over the Earth for centuries, not many people have
managed to see her and her magic but those who have refer to her as a witch or 'The
Sorceress'. She has long jet-black hair, piercing emerald eyes and wears a black outfit with
hints of green to match the colour of her powers. Her skills included sorcery, including
shapeshifting, telepathy and casting illusions, as well as skill in hand-to-hand combat. These
abilities have aided in protecting the Earth from outside threats for years. However, one day
everything changes when the leaders of her home Vega decide to wipe out humanity and take
over planet Earth.
Will she stay loyal to her own kind or fight against this powerful threat?

5. Character Mood Board
This mood board shows the inspiration for my character design who will be shown in all
the products made for my FMP. It shows inspiration of how my character will look and be
presented throughout. I made a separate mood board for my main character as she will be
the focal point of my products. The colour scheme is mainly black and green so most of the
photos included have these shades. There are images showing my inspiration for costume
design. Because I don’t have a model or anything to make a costume, I will have to create a
costume design digitally. Her powers will be presented and she will be in space in the
posters and promotional products.

7. Products Mood Board
This board shows the inspiration for the products I will be creating such as posters, social
media ads, merchandise etc. It shows the types of images and colour scheme that will be
included throughout the products and how they will be presented. The photos are all in
space and there are several images of fantasy style planets and galaxies to go with the plot
synopsis. There is also images of my character inspiration and their powers as they will be
the main focal point of the products.

8. Inspirations and Influences
Characters in Marvel and DC 'Scarlet Witch' and
'Zatanna' were big influences when thinking of the look
of my character for my film concept and some of her
powers.
Their powers, when used, are shown as a specific colour.
Whether it be blue or red, they are memorable for that
character and often co-ordinate with their outfit. This
also helps show the audience the extent of their powers
as it is visible and contrasting with the surroundings.
The look and style of these characters represent
similarly how I would like my own character to be
presented on posters and merchandise and how I would
use contrasting colours to make my character and her
powers stand out.

9. Inspirations and Influences
Posters such as the film and promotional posters for 'Doctor
Strange', and character posters for the character 'Hela' are
influential when designing my own posters for this project.
The 'Doctor Strange' posters have great symmetry, making it
aesthetically pleasing. The main character is also always centre
of the posters. There are contrasting colours throughout. For
example, the red cape contrasting the blue background, or the
dark room contrasting with the light of the window.
The character posters for 'Hela' are more influential to my
colour scheme. Although this character is a villain and mine is
a hero, both have a similar look in terms of colour scheme
with the black and green outfit and powers. There are also
contrasting colours and symmetry in these posters that make
them appealing as an audience member. Throughout the two,
the character is central of the poster, and the dark background
contrasts with the green shades surrounding the character.

10. Inspirations and Influences
Merchandise designs like these images have given me
lots of inspiration for my own merchandise.
As an audience member, I enjoy the style of these t-
shirts and the vintage style. These feature the
character name or film title along with an image of the
character that fits the style of the t-shirt or a logo. The
colour schemes also match the character theme or
colour scheme.
The keyrings are also influential to my merchandise
ideas. These keyrings have the character logo on them.

11. Research and Skills Needed
For research, I will be looking at other promotional packages made for various films and tv shows in this
genre. I will look at colour schemes, designs and the skills used to create this products and how they appeal
to their target audience. To help gather inspiration, I will also look at films and comic books in this genre to
see how different characters are presented.
For skills needed, I will have to have skill in Adobe software. I will likely be using Photoshop most
frequently, so it would be helpful to already know how to use this software so I am ready to create
my products during the production stage. I already have some skill and experience using this software
from my previous adventure project. I will also need to have creative skills and be able to create various
products and posters that are eye-catching and an original design/concept.

12. Limitations and how I will resolve
Due to restrictions because of COVID-19, I may not be able to take all the photos I need for my project.
Although I will try and take as many of my own photos as possible, I may have to use some royalty free
images also. However, I will make sure to edit these as much as I can to make them different and more
my own, as well as give credit/reference to the original photographer.
