Target Audience
Our target audience is the 18–24 age group. Our audience are active on image based social
media and enjoy and create digital art. This group are highly influential on social media trends
which further influences trends in digital art.
Rationale:
We decided on this project as we both have an interest in digital art. We also thought this would be
a great opportunity to be creative, whilst showing our skills and developing our skills in preparation
for our FMP near the end of the year by making a variety of different images in different styles
using Photoshop (or After Effects for moving animations/logos). It also allows us to make things for
the website independently whilst also communicating ideas to each other. We chose the topics
‘illusion’ and ‘the future’ for this project as they are quite broad topics that we would have a lot of
creative freedom with. As well as us both enjoying the general style of these themes and the
colour schemes, there is also a large variety of other art following this theme that is inspiring ideas
for our own project.
Project Concept:
For our project, ‘The Grid’ is going to be a website/platform for digital artists and freelancers to
share their work. It is targeted to ages 16-24 to encourage young artists to create digital art and
build up their portfolio, as well as featuring a digital store to give these artists the opportunity to
make money from their work. For this we are going to be making a website (most likely on Wix or
an alternative). For this website we will be creating logos for this brand, and a variety of different
images on Photoshop that are creative and based off different aesthetics such as illusion, the
future, etc. We will also be creating animations on After Effects to be featured as part of the
website. To help us make this project, we will have to research digital art and other social media
platforms that share digital art such as Pinterest, Instagram, or ArtStation. To research our
audience, we will have to look at statistics of their social media usage and trends. We will also
have to look at the different aesthetics and their art style. Watching tutorials on YouTube to help us
learn new skills or looking at Pinterest boards of our chosen themes will also help guide us when
making our project.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
To evaluate the work, I will be writing down reflections each day of production along with
screenshots to show how I made each product, what went well throughout the day and what could
be improved before submitting the work. At the end of production, I will complete an overall
evaluation where I will discuss how I felt about the project, research, production and what I would
improve on next time. This will benefit me in the future for my FMP and into my career as I will be
able to look at my work from a critical perspective and evaluate it based on whether it would attract
the target audience or not and if it is visually appealing. Reviewing my research skills will help me
understand what I am good at in that aspect of media and what parts I should put more time into
researching in the future.
