2. Mind Map
Project ideas
Comic book:
• Zombies storyline like the
walking dead. More
towards the walking dead
video game as it focuses
on a younger person going
through a zombie
apocalypse
• Two main characters to
not just keep the focus on
one. A father figure
character and a younger
character to be protected
• Longer comic to not cram
it all together and make it
too quick. This will give
suspense towards what
will happen to the
character
Animation:
• Superhero cartoon like
batman towards a products
to promote it towards a
younger audience. Or
something like tom and jerry
to promote the product and
give it more of a children
vibe and keep it eye catchy
towards the person viewing
it.
• 2 main characters. For
superhero there would be a
super hero and a villain. The
villain would always lose to
promote the product that
the superhero shows off and
gets the strength/charisma
from. For the tom and jerry
one there would be a
character vs character in a
wacky comedy with the
good character profiting
Poster design:
• Promote a certain
product.
• Flashy colours to make
people walk past the
poster and give a feel
of ‘I want that’ instead
of them just ignoring it
and continuing
• Multiple different
ones. This is to keep
the product seem
bigger as there is
more posters this also
makes the product
seem better as it isn't
the same poster every
time
3. Mind Map
Comic book:
• A series of a group of people trying to survive a zombie apocalypse.
• A cartoony style with some sort of comedy in it.
• Few side characters and a full main character to care about.
• Few of them don't survive to bring more focus to the main
characters and engage the reader to wonder what will happen to
the main characters, will the same fate await them or will they
survive? Keeping the reader also on their feet for what's in store
next.
• Flashbacks to the good times before zombies, included quite
frequently as that’s what would be going through there heads at the
time of a zombie apocalypse, this also gives more of a character
background towards how they used to act to how they do now.
• As the audience is older the comic is going to be based on emotions
and violence. This will bring the audience in more as they want to
know what happened next keeping them on the edge of their seat
5. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected?
Repeated colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood. All zombies
related as im doing a zombie comic book. Some images cartoony
and some realistic to get a feel for both of them
How will your mood board influence your final product? Well as
it gives me an insider of what zombies look like and how
backgrounds may look like. This helps to get my storyboard
together as it can use ideas from previous games, movies, comic
books and TV series.
6. Informal Proposal
Current Idea
Concept The concept I went with is a comic book based on a zombie apocalypse. There will be
a group of characters with a focus on two of the characters from the group. They
start off not in the group and the group slowly forms into about 7 people. Some of
the characters with die off with a emotional death to pull readers in more
Type of
products you
would make
• Comic book. This will be the product I need to do the most as it is the main
project, therefore this is the main focus
• Poster. This is a side focus to engage people to read the comic and get stuck into
the story
• Front/back covers. These will be bright and eye catchy to engage the viewers.
This is also a main focus as it will go on the comic book
• Characters. As the story has a layout character design and zombie design will
need to be created.
What you will
need to make
them
Paper/ digital art. Either of these can be used, I will most likely use the paper for a
storyboard and digital art for the final product. This will make the product look
cleaner as its done digitally and not with paper.
Audience 16+. Adds zombie and violence so not child friendly, as the storyline is going to
include zombies and death its not suitable to people under the age of 16 to read it.
7. Choices
Discounted ideas Reasons for not choosing this
project
poster • Too simple. Don’t want to make a
product that is too easy as anyone can do
it and it wont stand out as much due to
the fact of availability to do it. Also don’t
feel its enough to promote a project as it
is only a poster will doesn’t justify the
product enough for what it is
Animation • Takes too much time. I will not have
enough time to create the product as it
will take too long. I also don’t know how
to fully animate and will take longer than
a usual animator which still takes a long
time.
