3. Research
• Research helped to make this product as zombie comic books have been
done in the past making me have a good reference point to make mine.
The research was easy to find as the are pages on google images I can look
at and see how the layout looks and how the communication works. Doing
this research helped a lot to put my product together smoothly with
having an idea of what I am actually doing. To improve I could have bought
a comic book myself and flicked through it as I actually have it I can have a
full representation of what it is like and how the characters are developed.
Without doing the research my product would have had a huge impact as I
would not had known how to put the comic together with it making sense.
Making the surveys were very helpful towards my research as it showed
what type of zombie media people are well known with. Doing an
interview also helped as it gave a more in depth reason of why they enjoy
the zombie apocalypse genre.
4. Planning
• The strengths of my planning was the fact that I could already have
another product and magpie opinions/ storyline from theirs and add it on
to mine. This made the planning a lot easier as it has already been done a
hundred times and I just had to do the same with a different storyline.
Planning helped a lot as it made sure that the storyline made sense and I
knew how to start ad finish as if I didn’t know then I wouldn’t have done
the starting page so quickly and efficiently. To improve I could have fully
read a comic book to understand the full storyline so mine could make
sense just like theirs did. Not doing the planning would have had a huge
impact as I wouldn’t had known how to start off and the product would be
finished in a decent amount of time and would have been difficult to start.
The survey I did helped towards the planning as I knew what people
wanted to see during my comic book. Getting others ideas from surveys or
interviews gives me more ideas of how I should put it all together to
engage the viewer
5. Time Management
• I have managed my time very well to get the product done in time and
done efficiently. I managed to not rush the product because if I did then it
would have not come out as well as it could have and lead to a bad finish.
If I had more time to work I would have created shadows and effect to
make the comic book have a more realistic feel. If I had additional time the
product would have definitely been better as it would have been more
detailed. Using the drawing tablet saved a lot of time instead of using a
mouse as it is easier to control and gives a better outcome. When doing
the colourising process the magic wand helped select the big areas a lot
easier making it quicker to colour in. using the line and rectangle tool
helped get straighter lines and helped with the time as it a lot quicker
6. Technical Qualities
Similarities:
The comic book layout is both boxes with
text and a picture in.
Both comic books are coloured in.
Both comics are very vibrantly coloured.
Differences:
My comic has less detailing than the marvel
comic book.
My comic has less text boxes than the marvel
comic book.
My comic has no action scenes as the marvel
comic book does.
My comic book Marvel comic book
7. Aesthetic Qualities
I believe my work looks good in the little time I had to produce it.
The idea of the layout and introduction of the character has never been
done like this therefore I feel it was very creative as it gets to know the
character before you get the storyline to give more of a feel for the
character later on.
If I had more time I would improve the artwork of the comic book page
as there is little to no details with no effects or shadows. To improve it I
would go back into Photoshop and add shadows and lighting to make the
drawings more realistic and stand out more.
Strengths:
Storyline makes sense.
Drawings are complete and look to a good quality.
Logo of a demon wolf ties in with the storyline of a demonized zombie
apocalypse.
The cover is nice and mysterious so you don’t know what is going to
happen in the storyline.
Weaknesses:
If I had more time I could have put more effort in the product.
Detail could be improve to make the drawings look better.
8. Starting on character
development to make
the reader more
familiar and closer to
the character. Added
detail and pat and
present to give an idea
of where the character
came from
Audience Appeal
I have appealed towards my audience as I have added what was the most
popular requests in the survey monkey I did to gain feedback on what to do.
Adding all the information makes sure I have appealed towards the audience.
Adding characters that have a similar feel towards the characters of the
walking dead and call of duty zombies helps appeal to the audience as that
was the most popular known zombies in the survey.
Added a logo for it
which is a wolf with
a demonic eye to
symbolize the
demonic
atmosphere of a
zombie apocalypse.
Used a red eye as
red symbolizes evil
just like zombies do
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the the drawings of the scenes as the art
style looks good and the colours go from light to
dark to show the bad that has happened.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– You could of experimented on different colours for
the ring on the logo.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the layout of the comic page and the
introduction of the character. I like the logo of the
demonic wolf
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
Try experiment with the ring colour to more match
the zombies experience. Try adding a background
for the comic book layout instead of plain white
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the colours chosen to go from light to dark in the
comic book to symbolise everything going from good
to bad
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Add more detail to the comic like shadowing and
effects to make the comic seem more professional
and look like a published piece
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
– I agree with the fact that I should have experimented
with the ring colour of my logo as the green doesn’t
seem to fit the rest of the logo correctly.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– I disagree with the comments on the colour of the
background from my comic book page. It being a plain
white makes you focus on the story and not how the
background looks. As the designer this is not
something I would change.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
– From my feedback I have gained the knowledge
that I have to add more detail towards my
drawings and work on the colours schemes I'm
using to fit the product more. Knowing this I will
put that into account for the next product I will do
by making sure I have enough time to add detail
and experiment with the colour pallet I have.
