2. Mind Map
Idea #1
Film
• Filmed Trailer
• Movie poster
• Written script
Idea #2
Magazine
Make it flashy to gain
attention so people pick
it up and flick through it
Write about stories people care
about. Aim at one demographic
to make it easier and specific for
peoples needs.
• Logo for the magazine company
• Cover and back pages
• Multiple double-page spreadsInitial
Plans
Idea #3
Graphic Novel
Try balance story, character
development, art and dialogue
to create a novel people want
to read again and again.
• Original and creative
characters and story
• Self-drawn art
illustrated by me
• Interesting cover to
attract an audience
Graphic novels are a form of art and thus all
drawings should look professional, to attract
readers and keep them invested in the novels.
Have friends star in the film and
feature on the poster. Use different
locations to film at different times
of day in different weather.
Make it with the purpose of
making others want to watch it,
appeal to the audience by doing
research and analysing results.
Make a film people want to see.
3. Mind Map
Idea #1
Film
Film poster
(perhaps made on
Photoshop)
Filmed trailer
(include a cast, music,
credits etc.)
Written script
(or the first few pages
at least)
Genre ideas:
Thriller
Action
Comedy
Drama
Horror
Crime & mystery
• Casting might
include friends.
• Music may be
original.
Equipment requirements:
Camera, tripod,
microphone and a
computer for editing
Maybe produce some
merchandise that ties in
with the movies release
5. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated
colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
• For the movie poster, the one I used for my mood board is simplistic and beautiful. It has the two
main characters featured clearly at the bottom and the title at the top, this is the kind of imagery I
wanted when I thought of making a movie poster. Rather than an extreme close-up or wide shot
• The poster has a very simple design and includes a backdrop of a dark tinted red covered in a mist.
This can hint towards the dark tones of the film and it’s themes of death and revenge
• The poster I used includes the film’s title in big bold writing and most of the cast in finer writing
respectively near the top or bottom of the poster
• The images of scripts that I have included are all presented pretty much the same and in very
similar font although I found a lot online and one in my work that has the directors’ and writers’
notes along the page
How will your mood board influence your final product?
• My mood board might help me when I’m stuck on ideas for producing some of my work (e.g.
poster and script); I can take inspiration from some of the colour palettes, font mise-en-scene used
as well as designs for the title, title names, names for a production company and where to put the
credits and billings
• the image of the script with the writing in post insure me that I can make edits to my work after it
has been printed and I don’t have to worry about making major mistakes in pre-production
6. Informal Proposal
Current Idea
Concept A brand new film coming out in cinemas. I’m producing all different kinds of
advertisements for it, including a trailer, poster, merchandise and part of a
script
Type of
products you
would make
• A 2-4 minute length trailer
• A poster
• Some merchandise (T-shirt, Cup, DVD, etc.)
What you will
need to make
them
• A camera, SD card and spare battery (borrowed from college)
• Microphone (borrowed from college)
• Tripod (borrowed from college)
• Computer with PhotoShop and Premiere Pro to produce and edit
Audience Primary audience: Teens (14-18) of any gender. Can be of any social status as long as
they have a cinema near them and/or can afford the ticket/DVD.
Psychographic – Socially conscious Type B/ Belonger; If my film is dark and depressing
then it might be enjoyed by nihilistic teenagers that enjoy films in those genres
Secondary audience: Adults(18-45) of any gender. Can be of any social status.
Psychographic – Balanced/ Belonger; adults will be a bit more mature and will
probably want to see the film purely because they might think it looks good.
7. Choices
Discounted ideas Reasons for not choosing this
project
Magazine • I have produced a magazine once before for my
visual project
• I didn’t know what to make my magazine
about; I didn’t want to repeat my idea of a
gaming magazine and I don’t really have
experience reading any other sort of magazine
• I could have chosen another market for the
magazine but I don’t know clothes or fishing for
example, as well as I do gaming.
Graphic Novel • I don’t have great drawing skills and that would
hinder production by quite a lot so it makes
sense to not produce a graphic novel
• I will have to create original characters and an
original story which might take even more time
and I would have to plan in depth how long
everything should take to produce.

Collection of images related to your product/inspirational/visually interesting
At least 15 needed
For your idea, write a brief, informal proposal. Ensure you proof read and check spelling etc
For the audience section consider age/gender/psychographic/geodemographic/social grade etc
Discuss the other two ideas from your initial mind map and reasons for why you didn’t choose them
