Civil Liberties And Civil Rights
Throughout history, society has pushed the envelope with civil liberties and civil rights by tackling
Supreme Court decisions. The attempts to manipulate civil rights and civil liberties occurred without a
clear understanding of neither of the two. While civil rights and civil liberties regulate collective
action, they differ by providing freedoms from the government and by providing freedoms to act; their
shift in history has been denoted by racial and gender discrimination, nationalization, and rights of the
accused. Civil liberties, as denoted in the Bill of Rights, had limited the government s actions by
providing freedoms from the government. Because the government could not take away the people s
rights, the Bill of Rights listed thou shalt nots, which limit[ed] its [the government s] jurisdiction
(Lowi pg. 107). A famous substantive limitation, or a restriction against what Congress could do, was,
and is, the establishment clause, or the separation between Church and State. As the first component of
the First Amendment, the establishment clause impedes the government s ability from establishing a
national Church; consequently, due to religious persecution in England in the 1700 s, the
establishment clause serves to protect the citizens from the possible tyranny of religion by permitting
the accommodation of all religions through assistance and by not allowing the government to show no
favoritism . Therefore, the United States refers to God on U.S. currency

Pythogoras of Samos Essay examples
Pythagoras of Samos is often described as the first pure mathematician. He is an extremely important
figure in the development of mathematics yet we know little about his achievements. There is nothing
that is truly accurate pertaining to Pythagoras s writings. Today Pythagoras is certainly a mysterious
figure.
Little is known of Pythagoras s childhood. Pythagoras s father was Mnesarchus, and his mother was
Pythais. Mnesarchus was a merchant who came from Tyre. Pythais was a native of Samos. As a child
Pythagoras spent his early years in Samos, but traveled with his father. There are accounts, that during
their travels, Mnesarchus returned to Tyre with Pythagoras, and had him taught there by the
Chaldaeans.
Certainly growing up he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pythagoras made a journey to Crete shortly after his return to Samos to study the system of laws there.
After a short stay in Crete, Pythagoras found himself back in Samos. There he discovered a school
called the semicircle. This was the site of his own philosophical teaching, spending most of the night
and daytime there and doing research into the uses of mathematics. He tried to use his unique method
of teaching, which was similar to the lessons he had learned in Egypt, but Samians were not very keen
on this. Pythagoras saw that the Samians were not giving him the respect and credit he deserved, so he
moved on
Pythagoras left and founded a philosophical/religious school in Croton on the southern tip of Italy. His
school practiced secrecy and communalism making it hard to tell the difference between the work of
Pythagoras and work of his followers. Although it did made outstanding contributions to mathematics.
Pythagoras gained many followers there, and became the head of a society with an inner circle of
followers known as mathematikoi. The mathematikoi lived permanently with the Society, had no
personal possessions and were vegetarians. They weren t acting as a mathematics research group does
in a modern university. There were no open problems for them to solve, and they were not in any
sense interested in trying to create or solve mathematical problems. Rather Pythagoras was interested
in teaching the principles of

P-Nitrophenol Vs Ir
IR spectrums were given for both o nitrophenol and p nitrophenol. For o nitrophenol a strong broad
vibration due to an O H stretch at (Insert O H Stretch Value for ortho) and for p nitrophenol a very
strong broad vibration due to O H stretch at (Insert O H stretch Value for para) can be seen. These
both agree with the expected literature range for the vibrations for the O H stretch of a Hydroxyl
group of 3200 3500 cm 1 possibly being slightly lower due to conjugation within the aromatic ring. A
weaker O H stretch vibration can be seen in the ortho product due to aforementioned hydrogen
bonding that occurs between the alcohol and nitro group of the benzene ring. Additionally in both the
ortho and para products a medium strong sharp vibration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Ortho Product is asymmetrical containing 5 different proton environments and therefore 5 signals.
Signal A is a (insert signal A chemical shift) singlet, agreeing with the literature value of 4.5 7.7 ppm
for the hydroxyl hydrogen of a phenol and being a singlet due to having no adjacent hydrogens
following the N+1 rule. This hydrogen is deshielded by the oxygen to which it is attached to, the ring
current produced by the aromatic ring, as well as by the electron withdrawing effects of the nitro
group therefore appearing fairly downfield, but in relation to the other signals is the most upfield. The
rest of the protons are aromatic protons and agree with the literature value range of 6.0 9.5ppm for
protons on a benzene ring all of which are deshielded due to the induced magnetic field produced by
the ring current. Moving downfield from signal A the next signal is signal D a (insert signal D
chemical shift) triplet being the least deshielded of the arene protons due to being far from both the
nitro group and the alcohol and being a triplet due to having two adjacent nonequivalent hydrogens
(n+1). The next signal moving downfield is Signal C a (insert signal C chemical shift) triplet being
slightly more deshielded than signal D due to being closer to the more electronegative oxygen and a
triplet due to having two adjacent nonequivalent hydrogens. The next signal moving downfield is
Signal B a (insert signal B

An Analysis Of Margaret Atwood And The Handmaid s Tale
Occasionally, fear can compel people to pursue solutions they were previously uncomfortable with.
While these solutions may be a desperate attempt to alleviate a dire situation, they may be effective in
avoiding possible plights. Likewise, the Xinjiang region of China and the plot of The Handmaid s Tale
by Margaret Atwood, explores this dilemma as both government systems employ regulations, which
may seem excessive to some but considered as necessary to the governments present in Xinjiang and
the republic of Gilead in The Handmaid s Tale . Moreover, the conflict occurring in Xinjiang is similar
to the governmental system in Gilead because of the abundance of security forces, apparent lack of
privacy of citizens and the motive that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, The Handmaid s Tale accentuates the similar vibe of the lack of privacy with
Handmaids, with them rarely talking to one another to protect personal safety and to avoid forming
forbidden friendships. Security constantly scrutinizes the Handmaid s whereabouts and actions
throughout the novel, another element of the dystopian society Offred dislikes. Fear is justified to be
an effective motive for obedience among citizens of Xinjiang and Gilead, eliminating possible forms
of retaliation. In Xinjiang, their deplorable protest in July 2009 is a strong foundation of the holistic
fear among citizens. In order to prevent another disaster and provoking the communist party and other
authoritative institutions, citizens remain compliant to the rules the communist government has
established. Cleverly, the government uses the society s period of obedience to provide irresistible job
opportunities to further decrease the chances of uprisings and protests. Moreover, by embedding
appealing features into the enforced governmental policies, the citizens of Xinjiang have fewer
reasons to retaliate against the unavoidable security force. The government proactively seeks the youth
to perceive the substantial amount of security as ordinary, utilizing pathos by routinely playing their,
propaganda songs: a jolly children s song about obeying traffic laws, and a more somber acoustic tune
that promotes core Communist values. The government

Blackberry Picking- Seamus Heaney Analysis
Blackberry Picking Seamus Heaney Seamus Heaney is an Irish poet who was born in Mossbawn
farmhouse and spent fourteen years of his childhood there. Many of his poems are based on personal
experience; Mid term Break , for example, was based on the death of his younger brother; and are laid
out in settings akin to those he is familiar to. His poem, Blackberry Picking , is set on a farm and
explores the simple luxury of picking fresh, ripe blackberries, his inspiration quite possibly being his
own childhood. Thematically, the poem explores the idealistic nature of childhood, and the importance
of waking up to reality as one grows older. The beginning of the poem is filled with a vivid passionate
recollection of the seasonal picking of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The line, I always felt like crying. It wasn t fair ties up both, the childish reaction of crying when hit
by the realisation that something good will not last, and the adult resignation to the fact that although
it is never fair, such is life. On a more implicit note, the poem deals with the theme of greed and the
dissatisfaction often involved in attempting to gain an object of desire. The attempt to acquire great
amounts of this object by removing it from its natural setting and hoarding it leads to its destruction
and to the hoarder s disappointment. However, it is also implied that lessons on greed are seldom
learned, Each year I hoped they d keep, knew they would not. Even with the knowledge that his
efforts would be in vain, Heaney writes about how he was compelled to try and store the blackberries
each year, thus bringing out a recurrent greed for the same object. The structure and language of the
poem aid the reader in better understanding and connecting with it. The first part is merely a
recollection that provides information; what time of the year it is, how the blackberries were collected.
There is a lot of enjambment here, and this allows for a free flow of thoughts for the poet, as well as a
better level of connection for the reader. This flow better creates the feelings and emotions of the
poem, and allows the ideas in each line to flow into each other and create one

Viewpoints In The Things They Carried
Writing from different viewpoints allows the author, Tim O Brien, to express himself in a more
comfortable manner. Written in this viewpoint, the story is read as a tale instead of an autobiography
and the author becomes more distant with the story like he is looking into it rather than writing it.
O Brien most likely wrote parts of the story in third person because it is traditional and benefits the
reader by allowing them to get to know multiple characters rather than just the narrator. The Things
They Carried and Speaking of Courage are two of the more personal chapters in the novel and by
writing them in third person, the reader may feel more involved in the story. They can also learn more
about the soldiers and the events of the

Saving Face Essay
The film Saving Face is about representing one self s identity. There are three motifs that allow this
transformation; transportation, face and time. The central motif in the film Saving Face is
transportation, which is centralized with face and time because they explain the character s change of
identity. The motif of face represents the characters identity. Saving Face is an expression to keep
definition. Face is a motif because face is used repeatedly, especially in close ups to captivate the
person s identity. In the opening shot, there is a close up on Wil s face which she is seen wearing
beauty masks to hide her true identity. The beauty mask prevents Wil from expressing her true identity
because the face mask shows that Wil is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because time waits for no one and progresses it leaves Ma standing still for her status. Wil is being
rushed into decisions being made by her traditional mother to live a traditional housewife lifestyle.
And Ma is being rushed into decisions made by her father so that he can keep his reputation. Both Wil
and Ma have been avoiding time because time is seen as an obstacle that they cannot overcome or stop
at a certain phrase of the day. Cutting shows the transition of time causing the characters to change
their identity because during the day the characters feel restricted to keep a reputation by following a
daily routine but during the night the characters escape to live their lives freely without those
restrictions. The motif that allows the characters to do so is transportation because time explains how
the characters change their identity by using transportation during different times.
Transportation is the central motif because it allows the characters to change their identities. Wil has
been taking the subway as her transportation to get from one place to another from morning to night.
Her using transportation to get from place to place impacts how her identity changes from the
morning, when she is looking after her mother and going to work, to her identity from the night, when
she is alone with Vivian. The subway allows Wil to have two different identities of her living life for
her work to living life for her love relationship with Vivian. The transportation

Time Travel Writing Assignment Being around people is difficult for me because I am not a sociable

The Raven And The Scarlet Letter
A common theme in the American Renaissance is breaking free from the intellectual traditions of the
past. This is effectively expressed by Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne despite differences in
their writing style through the stories of The Raven and The Scarlet Letter respectively. Although their
writing style is different, both authors indicate that breaking free from intellectual traditions of the past
is present in their writing. Both Poe and Hawthorne want to know why things happen rather than how
things happen so they focus on how the mind works. As well as being gothic writers, they wanted to
determine whether guilt or sin has a psychological effect. In many of the stories by both authors a path
of consciousness is shown followed by the deterioration of a character s mind. As a result, characters
of Hawthorne and Poe are often deranged or they simply go mad. My finger, pointed at this man,
would have hurled him from his pulpit into a dungeon, thence, peradventure, to the gallows!
(Hawthorne 14). Chillingworth could have easily had his revenge by having Dimmesdale hanged or
thrown in prison. But instead he settles for psychological revenge that sends Dimmesdale into a guilt
ridden version of himself who punishes himself emotionally and mentally which ultimately leads to
his death. Frequently, Poe and Hawthorne show the struggles of human nature. Both believed that
human nature was less than good therefore evil was able to take hold of someone. Thrilled

Environmental And Environmental Challenges In The...
The aquaculture industry has been plagued issues such as water pollution, fish disease outbreaks,
destruction of coastal habitat and escapes that have tarnished its reputation and stimulated significant
backlash against the industry. In response, the industry turned to placing marine farming systems
miles offshore, in deeper waters with large currents to reduce the environmental risks associated with
conventional aquaculture. Studies have shown when cited properly with adequate flushing rates,
offshore aquaculture operations left a neutral nutrient impact on the water column and had diminished
water and benthic pollution. By producing fish in less polluted marine environments, offshore
operations can improve the quality of the product, improve market access, and increase profit.
However, offshore aquaculture still faces a number of sustainability challenges that jeopardizes the
ecological and economical integrity of the sector.
 Fish Escapes
Although offshore systems are designed to prevent any escape events, it cannot be guaranteed that
escape will never occur as the sector expands to commercial and industrial scales, even with the risk
of massive escape events caused by extreme weather events are mitigated as submersible cages are
able to withstand and avoid storms. Escapes can occur from human error during cage maintenance and
harvesting, from collision of ships, and vandalism. Escaped fish can cause potential harm to the
marine ecosystem and native species by

Narrative Essay On Roaring Dollars
Ever heard of a relaxing time with your loved ones? This year, specifically June 17th, 2017, I went to
Boise, ID for my Cousin s Thirteenth Birthday. We went to Roaring Springs (On June 18th) which was
like the Dollarama version of Hurricane Harbor in Six Flags, where we celebrated his birthday. There
were about fourteen or fifteen of us, me, my Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt s, Uncle s, Cousin
s, and a few friends. We were all very anxious about what s to come and how we re going to handle an
exclusive time with people we care for.
We were in the car and my little cousin was extremely annoying, so I almost threw him out the
window, but I didn t because it was tremendously scorching, which leads to the reason on why we
went to the Water Park. We got to the parking lot and the vision of the Water Park didn t exceed with
my expectations because I thought it would be much bigger. The only thing that ruined it for me is my
cousin peed on the side of my aunt s tire and I bolted to the entrance, so I couldn t see. There were
fifteen tickets and it took about an hour because the scanner wasn t working and it kept shutting off
after each ticket. Luckily, I was first, so I just went through not caring about anyone or anything and
got our seats.
At first, we sang Happy Birthday to my cousin the traditional way, before we went out and had fun.
My cousin got a few, but not a lot of presents. He got a Black History Month, Golden State Warriors
shirt with a big NBA logo on the back. He also got a mini hoop that he hung on the door after our trip.
Another one of his gifts was from one of his closest friends I m pretty sure, which was a Golden State
Warriors plush blanket. His last gift was from us which was Under Armour shorts and thirty five
dollars as well. My family and his family ordered food burgers, fries, chicken, and tater tots which
were surprisingly pretty good. The tots were fresh out of the oven salted and peppered up to
perfection. They had Sriracha, which was one of my favorite spicy sauces which I dipped the tots in
and I almost passed out because it was so deliciously spicy. My only complaint is that they weren t hot
and extremely cold, but it was still pretty good. Afterwards, we went to go on rides that

to predetermined well defined set of performance metrics (job related standards). The results are used

one is that not everyone has the same job in my organization, two there are over 80 people that work
in there so remember and playing back all work performance is often a difficult job for the 3
supervisors I have. Moving back on track; performance appraisals should encompass relevant
performance standards and performance criteria in order to measure performance, which as stated in

craft, having directed countless films hailed as modern day masterpieces. As with any cinematic

The plot concerns a young lawyer named Newland Archer, played by Daniel Day Lewis, who falls in
love with divorcee Ellen Olenska, played by Michelle Pfeiffer. Archer also happens to be engaged to
Olenska s cousin May Welland, played by Winona Ryder. Given Scorsese s involvement with the
project, one might assume the film is a revisionist take on Wharton s novel, similar to his take on
MGM musicals with New York, New York, or at the very least feature instances of amped up
language, sexuality, or violence. But his Age of Innocence is as straightforward as period romances
get, resulting in a lush drama where no blood is shed, hell is uttered once, and cigars are favored over
cocaine. At first glance, it d even be hard to watch the film and believe that Scorsese had directed it.
The film was a minor box office failure, just failing to recoup its $34 million budget with only $32.3
million at the box office. Critically, the film received many positive notices, with The New York
Times writing that Scorsese had made a gorgeously uncharacteristic Scorsese film... the work of one
of America s handful of master craftsmen and Time Out praising the way he employs all the tools of
his trade to bring his characters and situations vividly to life. Bearing a PG rating for thematic
elements and some mild language, The Age of Innocence is seemingly no different in it s approach to
the genre than countless other period dramas of the day, such as The English Patient (Anthony
Minghella, 1996), Sense Sensibility (Ang Lee, 1996), or The Remains of the Day (James Ivory, 1993).

The Ethics Of The Law Essay
When it comes to large sums of money, it is not uncommon for the spender to feel they have been
ripped off or become over protected. The practice of law is no exception to this phenomenon, and
crocked lawyers and paralegals have negatively contributed to the notion. On several occasions law
professionals have taken client money for personal use, acting against the law and rules of
professional conduct. Although lawyers and paralegals have their own individual rules and guidelines
to abide by, they follow the same professional structure of proper conduct. The rules of conduct for
paralegals is governed by the Law Society of Upper Canada and is the governing body responsible for
reports of misconduct. Further investigations will lay out the proper procedures and tasks that must be
completed when a paralegal encounters an accusations of misconduct, specifically when a client
accuses a paralegal of misappropriating money from the clients trust fund. When it comes to possible
options it is important to remember that by proactively sending a report of the circumstance to the
Law Society of Upper Canada with a detailed list of events, bookkeeping and accounts billed to the
client will help your case prior to the client reporting you to the Law Society. Should a paralegal
choose to ignore the threat of the client, in hopes that the client will not follow through with higher
involvement, the paralegal will then face an audit by the Law Society. If the Law Society is apprised

Success Is A True Success
Erykah Badu once quoted I planned success. I just knew it was going to happen. From her statement,
success is all about planning, and working hard to progress towards an ultimate goal. How Ms. Badu
was so confident in attaining success, that is how everyone s determination for success should be. If
someone is willing to accept possible failure, strive, and be their best, by doing their best, success it
theirs. Even though success has as many definitions as there are people, many people measure their
success based primarily on wealth; however, I define success as being that which is attained as one
sets goals and achieves them, and as a fluid thing that changes as our stations in life change. In today s
culture, society, as a whole, brainwashes us into a false perception of success. People with expensive
handbags, cars, or jewelry are automatically deemed as a success. Also, people with corporate jobs
that hold Chief Executive Operation positions, or a field in general that makes an immense amount of
money are considered the successful ones. While a having a great job may be someone s own personal
success, do not let the wealth speak as to why you are successful. Success is not always determined by
one s wealth. As an example, it is already known that celebrities make a vast amount of money. When
we review their success, we look at their accomplishments, and how hard they have worked to get to
their ultimate goal, not how much money they have ascertained.

Marketing Strategy Of Pipeworks Brewing Company
Branding
Branding is the life blood of any product. A company s product success is determined by it s brand
strategy. Hammond (2015) mentions that A dynamic and memorable brand strategy must include both
the brand personality (visual: graphics, colors, images, etc.) and the brand positioning (messaging: the
words used to bring brand to life). That said, the brand personality and positioning should make
consumers aware of the product being offered. (BOOK CITE) states that A company lives or dies

Branding strategies include brand ownership, brand naming, product lines, brand and line extensions,
co branding, brand licensing, and brand repositioning. Pipeworks Brewing Company is a manufacturer
s brand that uses a family brand strategy. The family brand strategy as defined by (BOOK CITE) is
where several products are sold under one name. Pipeworks sells hundreds of different beers all under
the Pipeworks Brewing Company name. Pipeworks does not offer brand and line extensions, but they
do participate in co branding. (BOOK CITE) defines co branding as the practice of marketing two or
more brands together, on the same package . An example of Pipeworks co branding strategy is
working with local restaurants to brew beers specifically for that restaurant and placing both the
restaurant and Pipeworks brands on the beer label. As of now, Pipeworks has not been involved in
brand licensing and they have not had to reposition the brand. The target market and demographics for
Pipeworks includes micro brewery fans or craft beer drinkers. Typically craft beer drinkers like
heavier and stronger beer and are not drinking Budweiser and Bud Light. According to Bart Watson,
Chief Economist at the Brewers Assocation, the Median target individual for craft breweries are
males, Age 39, white, highly educated, with a relatively high income. Bart Watson also goes on to say
that Young women (21 34) now over index on craft, account for 15% of total craft volume

Essay on Images of Women in Sports
Images of Women in Sports
Over the years the perception of women in sport has changed considerably. In this course we have
viewed several films all dealing with the depiction of female athletes in an attempt to gauge society s
current perception of women in sport. I will briefly summarize each film and the main themes of the
films before providing a description of the female athlete which I will infer from commonalities
between the films.
The first film we watched was a documentary entitled, Dare to Compete; it provided a brief history of
women in film, focusing primarily on American women in sport from the late 19th century to the
present. From this film we gained a notion of where women have been and how far we ve come in the

The third film we watched was, Remember the Titans. Remember the Titans, traces the racial
integration of a Virginian high school football team in the 1960 s as well as the racial integration of
the high school. While this film is about a male football team and women are minor characters within
the film it shows how sport can unite people from different racial and socioeconomic backgrounds
The fourth film we watched was, Girlfight; a film about a Latina who lives in the ghetto and becomes
a boxer. The protagonist s struggle to be taken seriously as a female boxer, to find people who will
train her and compete with her is one of the major themes of this film. However, this film examines
not only the protagonist s role as an athlete, but her home life, love interest and inner turmoil as she
learns to control and focus her aggressive personality.
The fifth and final film we watched was, Love and Basketball, a film that primarily traces the coming
of age of a man and a woman, two childhood friends and basketball fanatics who both pursue
professional careers in basketball while focusing primarily on the female protagonist. The main
conflict in this film had less to do with the female protagonist struggling for approval from her parents
and acceptance by society than any of the other films we ve seen in this class. Instead, it dealt with the
female protagonist s need to evaluate her priorities and decide what she wanted and how to divide

Flood Insurance Prevention
Many homeowners feel that their house and property will always be protected as long as the annual
insurance premiums are paid on time and standard coverage is in place. However, there is a big
misconception when it comes to repairs and replacement costs for a dwelling that has suffered water
damage due to flooding. Homeowners with properties located within a floodplain typically must
purchase additional flood insurance in order to be protected from a severe loss that could leave a
household in financial ruin and without a place to live.
According to the Insurance Information Institute, It s important to note that, as a rule, homeowners
and renters insurance does not cover damage from flooding. To protect your home, be sure to

Insurance through the NFIP can only be purchased if a person s home is located within a designate
area that is at risk for potential flooding. If a property owner is unsure about their dwelling s eligibility
with the NFIP, he or she should contact the president of the local homeowner s association or check
with an insurance agency in the area. These individuals will be able to provide a map of the local flood
plains and make area residents aware of the need to purchase flood insurance.
If you are a renter or homeowner (residential policy); or business owner (non residential policy) and
your property is located in a NFIP participating community, you can purchase a policy, explained
FEMA. There is typically a 30 day wait period between when you buy a flood insurance policy and
when it goes into effect, but there are some exceptions.
During the home buying process, realtors should alert all prospective buyers if a house they are selling
is in a flood zone and therefore requires the purchase of flood insurance. This is also something a
home inspector should make note of in the report for prospective buyers. Typically bank lenders will
not sign off on a mortgage unless flood insurance is purchased and in place at the time of closing, so it
is beneficial to be aware of FEMA s 30 day wait

New School Experience
New school, new people, and new clothes. Everything is going to be different, I was not looking
forward to that year. The second I stepped foot in that door, I wanted to run as fast as I could back
home. But I couldn t I had to do this. I walked inside and everyone automatically looked at me. Of
course, everyone is in one room right now, I m the new girl at a small school. What else should I
expect, i went and set my stuff down in my home room. When i walked back in all eyes were on me,
again. I didn t like it so I quickly sat down. After we left assembly we had math, i did not like that
teacher at all. Even on the first day, she was mean and rude, that really made me nervous because i
wanted her to like me but the people in my class said she doesn t like anyone. Great.
That day was absloute chaos, it felt so weird being there. After one day there I felt like I was
completely out of place, and I was. None of the teachers really stood out to me, as people that i could
look up to. A lot of the teachers were still trying to get certified and were still really young and
immature. I don t think that s right but that school didn t think that.
A few weeks passed and nothing worth talking about happened, but after the first nine weeks
everything started going downhill, One girl in my class didn t exactly like me so she told the teachers
that I was cheating on some stuff. When i wasn t, she took credit for some of the stuff i did and i had
enough of it. I told my Mom and

Luther s Exposition On The Fourth Commandment
This paper will have a particular focus on Luther s Large Catechisms with specific attention towards
Luther s exposition on the fourth commandment. The following will critically analyze this
confessional text in light of its historical theological context and conclude with its contemporary
relevance within American social milieu. In particular, this paper will view Luther s exposition on the
fourth commandment with a pragmatic lens as a means to explore its implications for the American
social structure.
Luther s Large Catechism was written to assist preachers and pastors with Christian education and to
improve upon their fulfillment of their office duties. During the summer of 1527 Luther and his
colleagues at Wittenburg were rudely awakened by the pastoral leadership climate of the church. Due
to the various changes that were taking place during the Reformation, European society s interest in
Christian piety dramatically increased during the late Medieval Ages. As a result the church increased
the number of rostered Clergy to meet the pastoral demands. However, most of the clergy had little to
no educational background and what theology they did know came from booklets that assisted them in
their pastoral duties. In short, the church had an overabundance of underequipped clergy who were
loosely following the proper call of their office, and as a result laity were uninformed on Christian
doctrine as well as lacking in effective pastor care. In the introduction to the

Population Problems By Garett Hardin
Malthusian view stated that Human Population grows exponentially while the resources consumed by
the population (mainly food) grows linearly. Thereby, there would be a time when the Population
would exceed the supply of food, and thereby would die off due to Famine like situation (positive
checks), or alternatively the humans themselves would use moral restraint including late marriages
(negative checks). Malthus is his essay also states that parents must produce only as many children as
they could afford to nourish and maintain after marriage. In his essay Tragedy of Commons Garett
Hardin too speaks on very similar lines. As his abstract reads The Population Problem has no technical
solution, it requires a fundamental extension in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a very good argument, had the world been an Equal and Just world, but as we know it, the
world is highly unequal in terms of opportunities and resource distribution. While Hardin himself
practices what he preached breeding 4 children because he and his wife, had the capability to nurture
them but states that a poor man must refrain from breeding more than the number of children he can
nurture. Hardin also specifies the way of Inheritance to be unjust as an idiot can inherit millions and
how genetic recombination could make a mockery of the doctrine of like father, like son . Although
Hardin does not talk in great detail in this essay as to the plans that he proposes for addressing this
population issue he says that The alternative to the commons is too horrifying to contemplate.
Injustice is preferable to total ruin. He indicates through the example of Kingsley Davis how coercion
could be necessary even if it is not unanimously agreed upon! From his Essay, it is evident that Hardin
is not unaware of Technological advancements that could alter the resources vs population issues. But
why then does Hardin not consider Boserup s Theory? Is there something more than what Hardin has
expressed is a question that that I am trying to find an answer

What Is Acting Ethically Wrong
In the YouTube video that I chose to describe, there are two gentlemen, Joe and Alex. Alex is an older
gentleman with long hair wearing a large, flowing shirt. Joe is a young man with short hair. He is
wearing a tailored black, business suit, a white shirt, and a tie. Joe is waiting to catch a flight at the
airport. Before his departure, he orders five doughnuts for five dollars at a coffee shop in the terminal,
and thinks to himself, This is an awesome deal . After he gets his order, he finds a table so he can sit
down and read the newspaper before his flight leaves. Not long after he takes a seat however, Alex
walks up and sits at the table across from Joe. As Joe is reading his newspaper, he hears a rustling.

Judgement can be wrong in many many different ways, instead of judging a person and assuming
something about them, we can start a friendly conversation with that person. For example, instead of
Joe judging Alex by his looks, he should have asked him questions like where he is from, where he
works, and so on. However, this is what society has taught us. It has taught us that, we need to look
good and presentable or we will be judged upon that. Also it is important upon how we act instead of
silently judging someone like in this video, it taught me that it is better to make a friendly
conversation than to look and judge, like they old saying do not judge the book by its cover .It has
taught me that we determine what is true and what is real based on how it appears in our perspective.
This assignment has taught me that reality and truth changes depending on our perspective. For
instance, the person in the video, Alex we may see him as a poor or old guy, but I know now that looks
matter may be important, but it is what is inside what really matters because you see how beautiful the
person really is by how he or she acts and

The Sapphires By Wayne Blair Essay
The Sapphires by Wayne Blair was the trigger that led my research into the effects of the Stolen
Generation on Aboriginals in Australia. This film is about an Aboriginal singing group who want to
make a name for themselves, but find it difficult because of the racism against them. This film also
tells the stories of their cousin Kay, who was a half caste and was stolen from her Aboriginal family at
a young age to be taught the ways of white people, and forget her culture. This film made me realise
that I am lucky to live in a country where racism of such an extent in which children are stolen from
their indigenous families, isn t part of our history, and has not affected me personally. From my
research, I have found six main sources that have helped me to understand how large this problem was
and continues to be. My sources: The Sapphires by Wayne Blair; a film about a group of Aboriginal
singers who are affected by racism which is based on a real life singing group; The Sorry Speech , by
Kevin Rudd who was the Prime Minister of Australia in 2008 who explains the damage and
apologises for the way that the actions of past governments tore apart the lives of their indigenous
people. Then there is Blind Eye, the documentary in which people who were stolen are interviewed
and tell their stories. The film, Rabbit Proof Fence this tells the story of two girls who were stolen and
gives us insight into how brutally that they were treated after being ripped apart from

School Shootings Will gun control really put a stop on school shootings or is that just a fluke? A
school shooting for anyone who does not know is a form of mass shooting involving a gun attack on
an educational institution, such as a school or university. The U.S. Secret service defines them as
shootings where schools are deliberately selected as the location for the attack . The question is, are
guns the problem or is it immoral people? Gun control is define as one of the most controversial and
emotional issues in many countries, with the debate often centring on whether regulations on an
individual s right to arms are an undue restriction on liberty and whether there is a correlation ... Show

Some people think that if we just get rid of guns, violence will magically lower. Those people are
naive, especially when only 2.6 percent of all murders are committed with some type of rifle. Thomas
Jefferson once quoted Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither
inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better
for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may
be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Criminals would continue finding ways to
illegally acquire guns while robbing and attacking law abiding citizens who suddenly have no means
of self defense. Lastly reason number five why gun control will not work, The cause of mass
shootings isn t guns; it is mental health. Guns don t kill people, people kill people at first seems like a
stupid pro gun argument. People adherently complain that they have heard that far to many times and
it sounds very basic, to the point and a little bit childish but its very true and something people need to
really understand. Well, people need the guns to kill people, which is true but the point is to target the
mental health issue before we take away arms from American citizen, with this being said people need
to realize how important firearms are to the American population. (Patrick,

Contrast The Spanish And English Colonies From 1492 To 1700
In a time when Native Americans occupied present day America, the Age of Exploration began in
Spain, and the Puritans who disagreed with the Church of the England fled to a place where the
Puritans could practice their faith without scrutiny. It is in this context that the Native Americans used
to dominate the New World until the Spanish founded New Spain for Gold, God, and Glory. The
English explorers who settled in the New World after being persecuted in England and to make profit
this caused conflict with the natives eventually leading to the French and Indian War. The Spanish and
English colonies that settled between 1492 and 1700 were significantly different in the way the two
different groups used religion to determine what happened ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Admittedly, there was a difference in the way the Spanish and English lead to the Native Americans
downfall. The Spanish Friars forcibly convert the indigenous people with the mission system going as
far as to kidnap a Native America to convert him to Catholicism. The English converted the natives
using Praying towns which were completely optional and did not force the Native American to work
for the colonist. This difference occurred because the Spanish Friars and the conquistadors were more
focused on getting labor out of the natives while the English settlers mainly wanted to save the
indigenous people, who the English colonists thought were savage and doomed. On the other hand,
there was similarity in the way the Spanish and English forced the Native Americans to war after
attacking their religion and taking their land. The way the Spanish used the encomienda system. This
was a system set up by the Spanish king in which he lent out land to conquistadors to make profit by
using anything that was on the land including people. This was under the condition that the
conquistadors protected and converted the indigenous people on their land. The Spanish used this to
justify the need to extract labor and resources from the Native Americans who inhabited the New
World. The English used the way the Spanish treated the natives as a guide on how the

The Importance Of Rain In New Mexico
I saw a difference in all 4 states, maybe subtle differences but New Mexico was flatter, less rocky.
Rain caught us in New Mexico, huge water drops fell on the windows, I was almost afraid it would
break the glass. I was entranced by the view out my passenger side window. Big gray clouds hung
over us, they were so low I could see the water vapor. For some reason, this interested me so much.
Had they ever seen been that low in Las Vegas? It was cloudy the rest of the way. We stopped at a rest
stop where we overlooked the road and I could see in the distance the town of Las Cruces. I stood
there for a second and just thought about what was to come. There was some sort of energy in the air,
maybe it was just the fact that it had rained but it

  • 2. Civil Liberties And Civil Rights Throughout history, society has pushed the envelope with civil liberties and civil rights by tackling Supreme Court decisions. The attempts to manipulate civil rights and civil liberties occurred without a clear understanding of neither of the two. While civil rights and civil liberties regulate collective action, they differ by providing freedoms from the government and by providing freedoms to act; their shift in history has been denoted by racial and gender discrimination, nationalization, and rights of the accused. Civil liberties, as denoted in the Bill of Rights, had limited the government s actions by providing freedoms from the government. Because the government could not take away the people s rights, the Bill of Rights listed thou shalt nots, which limit[ed] its [the government s] jurisdiction (Lowi pg. 107). A famous substantive limitation, or a restriction against what Congress could do, was, and is, the establishment clause, or the separation between Church and State. As the first component of the First Amendment, the establishment clause impedes the government s ability from establishing a national Church; consequently, due to religious persecution in England in the 1700 s, the establishment clause serves to protect the citizens from the possible tyranny of religion by permitting the accommodation of all religions through assistance and by not allowing the government to show no favoritism . Therefore, the United States refers to God on U.S. currency ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Pythogoras of Samos Essay examples Pythagoras of Samos is often described as the first pure mathematician. He is an extremely important figure in the development of mathematics yet we know little about his achievements. There is nothing that is truly accurate pertaining to Pythagoras s writings. Today Pythagoras is certainly a mysterious figure. Little is known of Pythagoras s childhood. Pythagoras s father was Mnesarchus, and his mother was Pythais. Mnesarchus was a merchant who came from Tyre. Pythais was a native of Samos. As a child Pythagoras spent his early years in Samos, but traveled with his father. There are accounts, that during their travels, Mnesarchus returned to Tyre with Pythagoras, and had him taught there by the Chaldaeans. Certainly growing up he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pythagoras made a journey to Crete shortly after his return to Samos to study the system of laws there. After a short stay in Crete, Pythagoras found himself back in Samos. There he discovered a school called the semicircle. This was the site of his own philosophical teaching, spending most of the night and daytime there and doing research into the uses of mathematics. He tried to use his unique method of teaching, which was similar to the lessons he had learned in Egypt, but Samians were not very keen on this. Pythagoras saw that the Samians were not giving him the respect and credit he deserved, so he moved on Pythagoras left and founded a philosophical/religious school in Croton on the southern tip of Italy. His school practiced secrecy and communalism making it hard to tell the difference between the work of Pythagoras and work of his followers. Although it did made outstanding contributions to mathematics. Pythagoras gained many followers there, and became the head of a society with an inner circle of followers known as mathematikoi. The mathematikoi lived permanently with the Society, had no personal possessions and were vegetarians. They weren t acting as a mathematics research group does in a modern university. There were no open problems for them to solve, and they were not in any sense interested in trying to create or solve mathematical problems. For o nitrophenol a strong broad vibration due to an O H stretch at (Insert O H Stretch Value for ortho) and for p nitrophenol a very strong broad vibration due to O H stretch at (Insert O H stretch Value for para) can be seen. These both agree with the expected literature range for the vibrations for the O H stretch of a Hydroxyl group of 3200 3500 cm 1 possibly being slightly lower due to conjugation within the aromatic ring. A weaker O H stretch vibration can be seen in the ortho product due to aforementioned hydrogen bonding that occurs between the alcohol and nitro group of the benzene ring. The Ortho Product is asymmetrical containing 5 different proton environments and therefore 5 signals. Signal A is a (insert signal A chemical shift) singlet, agreeing with the literature value of 4.5 7.7 ppm for the hydroxyl hydrogen of a phenol and being a singlet due to having no adjacent hydrogens following the N+1 rule. This hydrogen is deshielded by the oxygen to which it is attached to, the ring current produced by the aromatic ring, as well as by the electron withdrawing effects of the nitro group therefore appearing fairly downfield, but in relation to the other signals is the most upfield. The rest of the protons are aromatic protons and agree with the literature value range of 6.0 9.5ppm for protons on a benzene ring all of which are deshielded due to the induced magnetic field produced by the ring current. Moving downfield from signal A the next signal is signal D a (insert signal D chemical shift) triplet being the least deshielded of the arene protons due to being far from both the nitro group and the alcohol and being a triplet due to having two adjacent nonequivalent hydrogens (n+1). The next signal moving downfield is Signal C a (insert signal C chemical shift) triplet being slightly more deshielded than signal D due to being closer to the more electronegative oxygen and a triplet due to having two adjacent nonequivalent hydrogens. • 5. An Analysis Of Margaret Atwood And The Handmaid s Tale Occasionally, fear can compel people to pursue solutions they were previously uncomfortable with. While these solutions may be a desperate attempt to alleviate a dire situation, they may be effective in avoiding possible plights. Likewise, the Xinjiang region of China and the plot of The Handmaid s Tale by Margaret Atwood, explores this dilemma as both government systems employ regulations, which may seem excessive to some but considered as necessary to the governments present in Xinjiang and the republic of Gilead in The Handmaid s Tale . Moreover, the conflict occurring in Xinjiang is similar to the governmental system in Gilead because of the abundance of security forces, apparent lack of privacy of citizens and the motive that ... Furthermore, The Handmaid s Tale accentuates the similar vibe of the lack of privacy with Handmaids, with them rarely talking to one another to protect personal safety and to avoid forming forbidden friendships. Security constantly scrutinizes the Handmaid s whereabouts and actions throughout the novel, another element of the dystopian society Offred dislikes. Fear is justified to be an effective motive for obedience among citizens of Xinjiang and Gilead, eliminating possible forms of retaliation. In Xinjiang, their deplorable protest in July 2009 is a strong foundation of the holistic fear among citizens. In order to prevent another disaster and provoking the communist party and other authoritative institutions, citizens remain compliant to the rules the communist government has established. Cleverly, the government uses the society s period of obedience to provide irresistible job opportunities to further decrease the chances of uprisings and protests. Moreover, by embedding appealing features into the enforced governmental policies, the citizens of Xinjiang have fewer reasons to retaliate against the unavoidable security force. The government proactively seeks the youth to perceive the substantial amount of security as ordinary, utilizing pathos by routinely playing their, propaganda songs: a jolly children s song about obeying traffic laws, and a more somber acoustic tune that promotes core Communist values. Many of his poems are based on personal experience; Mid term Break , for example, was based on the death of his younger brother; and are laid out in settings akin to those he is familiar to. His poem, Blackberry Picking , is set on a farm and explores the simple luxury of picking fresh, ripe blackberries, his inspiration quite possibly being his own childhood. Thematically, the poem explores the idealistic nature of childhood, and the importance of waking up to reality as one grows older. The beginning of the poem is filled with a vivid passionate recollection of the seasonal picking of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The line, I always felt like crying. It wasn t fair ties up both, the childish reaction of crying when hit by the realisation that something good will not last, and the adult resignation to the fact that although it is never fair, such is life. On a more implicit note, the poem deals with the theme of greed and the dissatisfaction often involved in attempting to gain an object of desire. The attempt to acquire great amounts of this object by removing it from its natural setting and hoarding it leads to its destruction and to the hoarder s disappointment. However, it is also implied that lessons on greed are seldom learned, Each year I hoped they d keep, knew they would not. Even with the knowledge that his efforts would be in vain, Heaney writes about how he was compelled to try and store the blackberries each year, thus bringing out a recurrent greed for the same object. The structure and language of the poem aid the reader in better understanding and connecting with it. The first part is merely a recollection that provides information; what time of the year it is, how the blackberries were collected. There is a lot of enjambment here, and this allows for a free flow of thoughts for the poet, as well as a better level of connection for the reader. This flow better creates the feelings and emotions of the poem, and allows the ideas in each line to flow into each other and create one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Raven And The Scarlet Letter A common theme in the American Renaissance is breaking free from the intellectual traditions of the past. This is effectively expressed by Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne despite differences in their writing style through the stories of The Raven and The Scarlet Letter respectively. Although their writing style is different, both authors indicate that breaking free from intellectual traditions of the past is present in their writing. Both Poe and Hawthorne want to know why things happen rather than how things happen so they focus on how the mind works. As well as being gothic writers, they wanted to determine whether guilt or sin has a psychological effect. In many of the stories by both authors a path of consciousness is shown followed by the deterioration of a character s mind. As a result, characters of Hawthorne and Poe are often deranged or they simply go mad. My finger, pointed at this man, would have hurled him from his pulpit into a dungeon, thence, peradventure, to the gallows! (Hawthorne 14). Chillingworth could have easily had his revenge by having Dimmesdale hanged or thrown in prison. But instead he settles for psychological revenge that sends Dimmesdale into a guilt ridden version of himself who punishes himself emotionally and mentally which ultimately leads to his death. Frequently, Poe and Hawthorne show the struggles of human nature. Both believed that human nature was less than good therefore evil was able to take hold of someone. Thrilled ... • 14. Environmental And Environmental Challenges In The... The aquaculture industry has been plagued issues such as water pollution, fish disease outbreaks, destruction of coastal habitat and escapes that have tarnished its reputation and stimulated significant backlash against the industry. In response, the industry turned to placing marine farming systems miles offshore, in deeper waters with large currents to reduce the environmental risks associated with conventional aquaculture. Studies have shown when cited properly with adequate flushing rates, offshore aquaculture operations left a neutral nutrient impact on the water column and had diminished water and benthic pollution. By producing fish in less polluted marine environments, offshore operations can improve the quality of the product, improve market access, and increase profit. However, offshore aquaculture still faces a number of sustainability challenges that jeopardizes the ecological and economical integrity of the sector.  Fish Escapes Although offshore systems are designed to prevent any escape events, it cannot be guaranteed that escape will never occur as the sector expands to commercial and industrial scales, even with the risk of massive escape events caused by extreme weather events are mitigated as submersible cages are able to withstand and avoid storms. The only thing that ruined it for me is my cousin peed on the side of my aunt s tire and I bolted to the entrance, so I couldn t see. There were fifteen tickets and it took about an hour because the scanner wasn t working and it kept shutting off after each ticket. But his Age of Innocence is as straightforward as period romances get, resulting in a lush drama where no blood is shed, hell is uttered once, and cigars are favored over cocaine. At first glance, it d even be hard to watch the film and believe that Scorsese had directed it. The film was a minor box office failure, just failing to recoup its $34 million budget with only $32.3 million at the box office. How Ms. Badu was so confident in attaining success, that is how everyone s determination for success should be. If someone is willing to accept possible failure, strive, and be their best, by doing their best, success it theirs. Even though success has as many definitions as there are people, many people measure their success based primarily on wealth; however, I define success as being that which is attained as one sets goals and achieves them, and as a fluid thing that changes as our stations in life change. In today s culture, society, as a whole, brainwashes us into a false perception of success. People with expensive handbags, cars, or jewelry are automatically deemed as a success. Also, people with corporate jobs that hold Chief Executive Operation positions, or a field in general that makes an immense amount of money are considered the successful ones. While a having a great job may be someone s own personal success, do not let the wealth speak as to why you are successful. Success is not always determined by one s wealth. As an example, it is already known that celebrities make a vast amount of money. When we review their success, we look at their accomplishments, and how hard they have worked to get to their ultimate goal, not how much money they have ascertained. ... (BOOK CITE) defines co branding as the practice of marketing two or more brands together, on the same package . An example of Pipeworks co branding strategy is working with local restaurants to brew beers specifically for that restaurant and placing both the restaurant and Pipeworks brands on the beer label. As of now, Pipeworks has not been involved in brand licensing and they have not had to reposition the brand. In this course we have viewed several films all dealing with the depiction of female athletes in an attempt to gauge society s current perception of women in sport. I will briefly summarize each film and the main themes of the films before providing a description of the female athlete which I will infer from commonalities between the films. The first film we watched was a documentary entitled, Dare to Compete; it provided a brief history of women in film, focusing primarily on American women in sport from the late 19th century to the present. From this film we gained a notion of where women have been and how far we ve come in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The third film we watched was, Remember the Titans. Remember the Titans, traces the racial integration of a Virginian high school football team in the 1960 s as well as the racial integration of the high school. While this film is about a male football team and women are minor characters within the film it shows how sport can unite people from different racial and socioeconomic backgrounds The fourth film we watched was, Girlfight; a film about a Latina who lives in the ghetto and becomes a boxer. The protagonist s struggle to be taken seriously as a female boxer, to find people who will train her and compete with her is one of the major themes of this film. However, this film examines not only the protagonist s role as an athlete, but her home life, love interest and inner turmoil as she learns to control and focus her aggressive personality. The fifth and final film we watched was, Love and Basketball, a film that primarily traces the coming of age of a man and a woman, two childhood friends and basketball fanatics who both pursue professional careers in basketball while focusing primarily on the female protagonist. The main conflict in this film had less to do with the female protagonist struggling for approval from her parents and acceptance by society than any of the other films we ve seen in this class. Instead, it dealt with the female protagonist s need to evaluate her priorities and decide what she wanted and how to divide ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Luther s Exposition On The Fourth Commandment This paper will have a particular focus on Luther s Large Catechisms with specific attention towards Luther s exposition on the fourth commandment. The following will critically analyze this confessional text in light of its historical theological context and conclude with its contemporary relevance within American social milieu. In particular, this paper will view Luther s exposition on the fourth commandment with a pragmatic lens as a means to explore its implications for the American social structure. Luther s Large Catechism was written to assist preachers and pastors with Christian education and to improve upon their fulfillment of their office duties. During the summer of 1527 Luther and his colleagues at Wittenburg were rudely awakened by the pastoral leadership climate of the church. Due to the various changes that were taking place during the Reformation, European society s interest in Christian piety dramatically increased during the late Medieval Ages. As a result the church increased the number of rostered Clergy to meet the pastoral demands. However, most of the clergy had little to no educational background and what theology they did know came from booklets that assisted them in their pastoral duties. In short, the church had an overabundance of underequipped clergy who were loosely following the proper call of their office, and as a result laity were uninformed on Christian doctrine as well as lacking in effective pastor care. This film is about an Aboriginal singing group who want to make a name for themselves, but find it difficult because of the racism against them. This film also tells the stories of their cousin Kay, who was a half caste and was stolen from her Aboriginal family at a young age to be taught the ways of white people, and forget her culture. This film made me realise that I am lucky to live in a country where racism of such an extent in which children are stolen from their indigenous families, isn t part of our history, and has not affected me personally. From my research, I have found six main sources that have helped me to understand how large this problem was and continues to be. My sources: The Sapphires by Wayne Blair; a film about a group of Aboriginal singers who are affected by racism which is based on a real life singing group; The Sorry Speech , by Kevin Rudd who was the Prime Minister of Australia in 2008 who explains the damage and apologises for the way that the actions of past governments tore apart the lives of their indigenous people. Then there is Blind Eye, the documentary in which people who were stolen are interviewed and tell their stories. The film, Rabbit Proof Fence this tells the story of two girls who were stolen and gives us insight into how brutally that they were treated after being ripped apart from ... Those people are naive, especially when only 2.6 percent of all murders are committed with some type of rifle. Thomas Jefferson once quoted Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Criminals would continue finding ways to illegally acquire guns while robbing and attacking law abiding citizens who suddenly have no means of self defense. Lastly reason number five why gun control will not work, The cause of mass shootings isn t guns; it is mental health. Guns don t kill people, people kill people at first seems like a stupid pro gun argument. People adherently complain that they have heard that far to many times and it sounds very basic, to the point and a little bit childish but its very true and something people need to really understand. The Spanish Friars forcibly convert the indigenous people with the mission system going as far as to kidnap a Native America to convert him to Catholicism. The English converted the natives using Praying towns which were completely optional and did not force the Native American to work for the colonist. This difference occurred because the Spanish Friars and the conquistadors were more focused on getting labor out of the natives while the English settlers mainly wanted to save the indigenous people, who the English colonists thought were savage and doomed. On the other hand, there was similarity in the way the Spanish and English forced the Native Americans to war after attacking their religion and taking their land. The way the Spanish used the encomienda system.
