He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
2. Selected Potential Images
Each of these images possess potential in featuring as the main image of my magazine front cover. Each
possesses a high quality focus, making for a visually appealing level of quality throughout the piece, conveying a
sense of professionalism.
Regarding mise en scene, the use of blood throughout each is effective in conveying the horror genre of my
piece, conveying the conventional themes of threat and danger. In which this is enhanced through the
protagonists fearful and panicked expression throughout each image; effective in also conveying their vulnerable
role in the face of the film’s antagonist.
The lighting of the first 3 images is bright conveying the features of the character coherently, although should be
saturated of warmth to create a more unnerving atmosphere during editing.
The last 2 images were taken outside, provides a suitably darkened aesthetic, however lacking the highlighted
features that the others possess.
3. Chosen Image
Quality
The focus of the image is of a
high quality, making for a
professionally taken image,
effective in contributing to the
over aesthetic coherency of
the image.
4. Chosen Image
Mise en scene
The character’s direct address of the audience meets
with the conventional representation of characters
within a film magazine.
The character's wide-eyed expression conveys a
sense of vulnerability, as they appear helpless in the
face of danger.
The hand to their face is effective in emphasising their
concerned demeanour; foreshadowing their inability to
evade the film’s antagonist.
The use of blood is effective in conveying the harm
that the antagonist shall inflict upon the protagonist,
whilst also forming a rather eerie aesthetic (through
the sinister connotations of blood); conventional of the
horror genre.
The messages of ‘It’s you’ and ‘They’re near’ reflect
those featured within the teaser trailer for the film;
forming a coherent link between the two.
The Medium Close-up allows for the protagonist’s
facial expression to be coherently viewed.
5. Chosen Image
Mise en scene- Required editing
Application of a filter, draining the warmth
within the image to create a cold and
unwelcoming atmosphere.
Reversing the image so that the written
messages can be read from left to right.
Replacing the background with a
black/blue gradient.
Possibly removing the messages from
her face and re-creating them digitally, in
order for them to be more coherently
read.
Adjusting her eyebrows so that she
appear more concerned.
6. Chosen Image
Message
The blood messages convey the
harm/threat that shall dominate the
character’s life throughout the film.
The character’s frightened expression
communicates her vulnerability in the ace
of the antagonist, prompting the audience
to feel sympathetic and concerned for
her.
The application of blood foreshadows her
dark fate at the end of the film, and her
wide-eyed gaze conveys her wavering
stability as her slightly turned face
conveys her difficulty in facing the threat
of the film.
7. Chosen Image
Framing
The character is centrally captured
within the frame, conforming to my
desired central page orientation.
The character’s head is fully
captured within the shot with no
important areas uncaptured.
Her shoulders are not fully captured
within the shot, however this will
effectively fill the empty space that
was present within the more mid shot
nature of my initial sketch designs.
8. Conclusion
This image is of a high quality, presenting a professionally taken piece,
which possesses an aesthetically satisfying central orientation. The direct
address of the character conforms to magazine conventions and creates
an effect bond between the reader and featured character.
The use of blood and a fearful expression clearly conveys the character
vulnerable role within the film, but also their dominant role in progressing
the narrative; due to their dominance within the frame.
The inclusion of bloodied messages conveys the form that the antagonist
shall take.
Thus, making for an image that conforms to the ideas expressed within
my initial design, with the expectation of the slight change in shot, using a
medium close-up instead of a mid shot in order to fill any unnecessary
gaps that would otherwise be somewhat plain and not fully utilised.
