Magazine cover ideas
1. Magazine Cover Ideas
I found this idea of having two main features/people within the
frame very relevant and appropriate when linking the narrative to
the visual promotion of the film (magazine cover).
I found the idea of having a more prominent and powerful male
figure standing over the female characters. The bold red font is
something we have considered using on our magazine front cover
as it is striking and has stereotypical connotations of danger and
violence which is often used in psychological thriller.
I found the layout of this magazine cover very inspiring as we too
wanted to have a close up of the protagonist within the film with the
evil and mysterious antagonist lurking the background. In our case we
plan on using a shadow instead of an actual image of the character as it
would expose his identity decreasing the mystery within the teaser
trailer. I find the cool blue tint/filter relevant and appropriate when
considering psychological thriller film as it creates a cold and distant
atmospheric feel. The use of low-key lighting yet dramatic/intense
lighting on the face of the protagonist is also something we wanted to
create as it emphasises the characters facial expressions and creates a
sense of mystery.
2. Magazine Cover Sketch/Idea
We decided to display a mid shot of our main
female protagonist character appearing
distressed and worried through her facial
expression displayed. The female character is a
journalist/reporter and so she appears to be
clutching her side bag which is worn
stereotypically by reporters.
Low-key lighting will be used with a dramatic
and intense shadow cast over one side of the
main characters face. The silhouette figure of
the shadow will resemble the male antagonist
who remains unidentified and unknown to the
audience creating an intrigue and enigma. The
shadowed figure will be covering part of the
frame around/over the female characters face as
it suggests the power and control he holds over
her in a more visual form.
We plan on including a feature of a clock
within the magazine cover as the psychological
thriller film has a continuous theme of time and
how it can control the characters.
