The internal combustion engine is an engine where fuel combustion occurs inside cylinders, producing high temperatures. This heat must be removed to prevent damage to engine parts. Heat removal is typically done by circulating water through jackets around the cylinders. Internal combustion engines can be classified in various ways, including by fuel type, ignition method, number of strokes, cooling system, and more. The main components of an internal combustion engine are the cylinder, cylinder head, piston, piston rings, connecting rod, crankshaft, crankcase, and flywheel.
2. The internal combustion engine are those
engines in which the combustion of fuel takes
place inside the engine cylinder , by spark and
poduces high temperature.
The high temperature produced by ruin the
metal by cylinder , valves , etc.
● It is therefore necessary to abstract some of
heat from the engine cylinder.
IC ENGINE
3. The abstraction of heat or the cooling of
cylinder may be affected by the surrounding
air as in case of a motercycle or aeroplane
engine or by circulating water through
jackets surroundings the cylinder barrel and
cylinder head.
The water cooling is mostley adopted for
large pistons.
