What Are The Advantages And Disadvantage Of Polymers
Polymers are all around us, a fact that we cannot deny. Polymers are used by everyone of all ages.
Man has used natural polymers throughout history, but it is only in the last 60 years that we have been
able to make our own synthetic polymers. Polymers have been used vastly in many industrial
applications until now. However, like any other organic compounds, polymer burn readily in presence
of oxygen, and generally thermoplastics are worse than thermoset materials. The flammability of
polymers can limit their applications. Fire safety concerns regarding flammability of polymers has put
specific and strict requirements for certain types of application, for example in enclosed and
inescapable areas, namely airplane cabin. Though lightweight and high performance polymeric

Vinyl bromide (added to PMMA as flame retardant).
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES
Flame retardants are widely used in the world right now as to prevent fire from occurring easily.
Inorganic flame retardants mostly have no health and environmental issue, but for halogenated flame
retardants, some of the countries have banned the usage of it.
For the mineral oxide flame retardants, it is shown that mineral oxide or any inorganic fillers will
reduce the flammable content of the product, and modifies its thermal conductivity and its
thermophysical properties to slow down the combustion of the product. The example of product using
mineral oxide flame retardants is low smoke cable compound.
Halogenated polymer such as brominated flame retardants are widely used in plastics and textile
industry because of its effectiveness. But most of brominated flame retardants have big issues with the
environment and health. Some brominated flame retardants were identified as persistent, bio
accumulative, and toxic towards human and the environment. As an example, fire fighters which were
exposed to brominated fire retardants during firefighting operations were found to have cancer that

Witch Trials Dbq Essay
The events that took place leading up to and causing the witch trials were Bacon s Rebellion, the Little
Ice Age, and Stano s Rebellion. Bacon s Rebellion was when two leaders were stubborn and both
wanted to be in charge. Sterno s rebellion was when A huge group of slaves rose up against the whites.
In the Little Ice Age there was snow and cold weather that did not leave it was known as the year
without a summer due to the colder climate. Well into the spring time snow covered the ground. A lot
of people had to move because their crops were destroyed. The crops were not adapted to the climate
and the new weather that had arrived. The trials were brought upon by religion, girls are being

Rough Draft Essay
Rough Draft It was the bottom of the sixth inning of a USSA sponsored tournament and I was hitting
fourth that inning, cleanup. Jake, our second baseman and the literalist on my team, was hitting first,
Jake tries to bunt and misses. C mon Jake, get the barrel on the ball, Said my first base coach Matt
Fitzmorris, who played in the majors, Let s go! On the very next pitch Jake tries to bunt again and
actually gets it down the third base side, a perfectly placed bunt in my opinion, and takes off for first.
The catcher springs out of his squat and goes to get the ball, he throws, and SAFE! screamed the
umpire named Donovan. Jake had made it, and was most likely going to get the steal sign. All of our
team, The Complete Game Rangers, were on the fence pounding it relentlessly, and screaming random
gibberish. We all calm down as our catcher Ry, whose hair is lucky , comes up. By now I am most
likely going to hit this inning, Ry is doing his walkup to the plate and is ready. The pitcher attempts to
throw really hard, and sails it over Ry s head, meanwhile Jake steals second. On the very next pitch

A Research Paper On Julie Goodnight Essay
Research Paper Julie Goodnight was raised on a horse farm in Orlando, Florida, where she was raised
riding horses. In her youth, she started taking riding lessons in English riding and started to pursue
hunter jumping. She started competing in hunter jumping shows. She began training at competitive
facilities to get the training need to start riding in more elite hunter jumping competitions. During her
college years in New Mexico, Goodnight got a job exercising Thoroughbreds on a nearby racetrack.
After college, she got a job in Colorado, where she was a trail guide in the Rocky Mountains. While in
Colorado, she worked at an Arabian training farm, then started to form her own training facility and
camp. Through these experiences, she gained experience in many different disciplines such as: cutting,
jumping, racing, colt starting, dressage, reining, and wilderness riding (juliegoodnight.com).
Goodnight has commented many times that she believes this is what gives her an advantage in the
training industry (YouTube). While working with many different horses, Goodnight spend a lot of
time studying these horses behavior. Julie Goodnight started her television show The Horse Mater
with Julie Goodnight in 2009, where she works with horses and riders that are having problems, or are
wanting to advance to another level. She travels around the world for speaking engagements in the
equine world to talk about a broad topics that everyone could relate too. She also

Looking At Commercial Real Estate
Is it better for an investor to rent or buy commercial real estate in 2016?
Investors looking at commercial real estate (CRE) this year and wondering whether to lease or buy
should consider a few factors first.
And then, if they have the access to adequate capital, they should buy.
We ll look at the reasons why in a bit, but first let s look at why not to lease.
Little Upside to Leasing
Leasing in 2016 will be less attractive than in recent years. Vacancy rates for office,
warehouse/industrial and retail space will stay low or drop this year, signifying a more competitive
marketplace for commercial renters. Meanwhile, rental rates are expected to continue increasing,
albeit at slower rates than in 2015, with the current year showing ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, by purchasing commercial property, an investor gains an asset that will continue to increase
in value rather better than a lease dragging on the bottom line. The Price is Right
In good news to potential buyers, economists expect real estate prices to, after a three year period of
extreme growth, slow down substantially beginning in 2016. For the first time since 2009 the Moody
s/RCA Commercial Property Price Index (CPPI) is dropping below the long term average growth rate
of 5.8 %. The CPPI will continue to grow at very subdued and slowing rates : 5 percent in 2016 (down
from 12.7 percent in 2015), 2.7 percent in 2017, and 3 percent in 2018.
What this data shows is that not only is the moment ripe for buying CRE, but also that properties will
continue to increase in value over the next couple of years, just more slowly. For an investor looking
at a secure product with long term potential, CRE is a vehicle with promise.
However, there are some reasons for investors to be cautious about purchasing.
Less Available Cash
Paralleling the drop in price growth, this year marks the first time since 2009 that the issuance of
commercial mortgage backed securities (CMBS), a key source of funding for commercial real estate,
is decreasing, from $101 billion in 2015 sharply to $85 billion. However, the drop is only temporary,
with issuance

Engineering And Its Impact On The United States
Engineering was newly introduced to the United States in the late 1700s. The jobs were minimal and
fully educated men were few and far between. America had a shaky start in the engineering field, but
the profession quickly picked up speed. From 2009 to 2013, engineering degrees grew twice as fast as
other disciplines (Bidwell, The number of STEM degrees earned in the last 5 years grew exceptionally
). Everything from the most basic principles of engineering and the minutiae of an engineer s daily
routine, to complexities such as payment and respect for the profession have changed drastically since
the 1800s due to more people becoming open to the ideas of innovation and diversity in such an
integral field. Engineers are the life blood of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was not until the mid 1900s that only educated and trained people could call themselves engineers.
To be considered a professional engineer, a license is needed (Mraz, Changes in the Engineering
Profession Over 80 Years ). Another evolution of engineering that occurred, was companies switching
to a system called concurrent engineering. This is essentially just making sure that all of the
employees for a certain job understand each step of the design process, giving them the ability to share
opinions on each step along the way. Prior to this development, each engineer in a company had
knowledge only on their specialty and could not offer input on any other process. This was largely
implemented in the 1980s. When this was used, companies had 100% improvement in quality
(Salustri, an Extremely Abbreviated History of Engineering Design ). Engineering used to be a small,
seemingly insignificant job. There were not many places and ways to successfully apply engineering,
and even in the times where actual engineering was done, the engineer may not have been properly
credited. There were people throughout history that accomplished things that would today be
categorized as engineering, but at the time, all the fields of engineering had not yet been discovered. A
good example of this is Dr. William Gorgas, who believed that mosquitoes were responsible for
infecting thousands of workers with malaria during the building of the

Sex Education Essay
Sex Education
Two drastic Emergency Room cases were handled in 1998 at Mary Washington Hospital. Concerned
mothers brought their 12 year old daughters into the hospital thinking they were suffering from severe
stomach pain or even appendicitis...both girls were actually in labor (Abstinence, 2002). The United
States has the highest teen pregnancy, birth, and abortion rates in the Western world (Planned
Parenthood, 2003). Are teens getting enough knowledge on sex and how to prevent STDs and
unwanted pregnancies? Another heartbreaking statistic is that teenagers have the highest rate of STDs
of any age group, with one in four young people contracting an STD by the age of 21 (Sex Ed Work,
2003). Is sex education really working in school? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Abstinence only programs have not proven to be effective in reducing sexual activity, sexual partners,
or STDs. So why ask for a raise for a program that hasn t really proven to help keep teens safe? The
main idea of Abstinence only programs is simple... Do it and Die. Is sex really that bad if done safely?
Comprehensive sexuality education give teenagers the nine yards on sexuality. Teens are taught
everything from condom use, birth control use, and where to get it. In some cases teens are taught
about homosexuality, heterosexuality, and abortions. Instead of teaching the negative side of sex it
teaches teens that sex is a healthy, normal part of life. You learn the advantages of abstinence, but for
teens who want to get involved or have already been in sexual relationships they learn how to protect
themselves. Studies show that balanced programs that promote both abstinence and safer sex are most
effective and allow young people to make responsible choices. In a review of 35 programs, the World
Health Organization found that abstinence only programs were less effective than programs that
promoted delaying first intercourse as well as promoting safer sex practices including use of
contraceptives and condoms (Advocates for Youth, 2003). So comprehensive based education gives
teens enough information on both subjects to help them make the right decision. Unlike in abstinence
programs, if teens

Blood Spatter Analysis In Criminal Justice
In my essay, I m going to look into how blood spatter analysis is used in processing a crime scene and
how useful it is in finding and convicting a suspect. I will look into how important blood spatter
analysis is and what it can show within a crime scene. I believe that first I should give a clear
definition of blood spatter analysis. It is the examination of shapes, distribution patterns of bloodstains
in order to show an interpretation of the physical events that created them. First I m going to look at
how blood spatter analysis is used in processing a crime scene. There are many different points to

Social Tension Between Babo And Cereno
When Captain Amasa Delano visits the San Dominick, he notices the tension between Babo and Don
Benito Cereno while Babo is shaving Benito Cereno s beard, not unaffected by the close right of the
gleaming steel, Don Benito nervously shuddered (Melville 74). The tension between Babo and Cereno
is ironic because Captain Delano does not understand what is actually going on between the two
characters. As the social tension between Babo and Cereno rises, the aesthetic tension created by
Melville between Delano and the ship rises as well. Melville as a writer creates tension, and that
tension is rooted in irony. The close reading of the shaving scene shows how Melville uses irony to

Comparing Ovid s Metamorphoses And The Bible
When we look at creation myths throughout history and across religions we can see many similarities
drawn but also many differences. Close ties can be seen between Ovid s Metamorphoses and Genesis
in the Bible as well differences between the latter and the Aztec story of creation. These myths can be
contrasted on their themes and moral s demonstrated, the divine intervention that takes place, and type
of creation myth it is. When looking at the myths through those aspects we can see key resemblances
between the myths such as the evolution of the world and its people and this shed s light onto the
civilisation of origin.
In Ovid s Metamorphoses we a world created by the gods that is filled with plant and animal life all of
which is ruled by man. Four stages follow this creation each darker and more savage than the last. The
gods, outraged by the impiety, cover the world with a massive flood. With only two surviving figures

perfect world. Each god is superseded when their version of earth fails by another who wipes it cleans

wiped clean.
All of the creation myths have a purpose and similar central themes and moral s that set out to educate

Environmental Challenges Facing The American Automotive...
Environmental Challenges Facing the American Automotive Industry Since Henry Ford invented the
mass production techniques that made cars affordable to the public, the United State s economy has
been dramatically influenced by this key component in its affluence. Exponentially, jobs were created
because the auto business grew. Employees were needed for the constantly growing assembly lines.
Consequently, Ford s model Ts became the primary preferred, affordable, mass manufactured cars.
(Davis, 2012). For more than a century, the United States automotive industry constantly had a large
impact on the national economy. The quantity of cars sold annually has always been a reliable
indicator of the nation s economic well being. Thus, once the recession hit in 2008, automotive sales
declined sharply, indicating the decrease in customer purchase power. Environmental challenges
impacting the American automotive industry consist of, yet not limited to, fierce global competition,
vigorous technological advancements race, emissions and governmental approach toward a cleaner
environment and, finally, customer satisfaction of the American product.
Global competition resulted in decreased market share for American automobile makers and
jeopardized company profits as a lot of foreign brands approached the American market. The overall
market share of General Motors fell from 28.2% in 2000 to 17.6% by 2014. (Investopedia, 2015). The

Stereotypes Exposed On Skin Color
Stereotypes have existed since humans first began to roam the planet. Early Australopithecus, the first
humans, most likely used stereotypes when deciding their daily task. Stereotypes such as everything
are dangerous and want to kill them. Later as Homo sapiens created cities and civilianization s
stereotypes helped evaluate an incoming threat so they could close the city and gather a defense to
save not only themselves but everything they worked hard to create from those who would kill them
and take the city from them. But modern human s ability to perceive threats have been clouded by
stereotypes base on skin color; to a point where anyone who is different is a threat who needs to be
eliminated. A proactive human whose flight or fight response is to fight will sometimes attack this
perceived threat without any other information aside from the stereotype. These attacks can sometimes
lead to the arrest or death of the threat who, in most cases, was an innocent in the wrong place at the
wrong time. So while stereotypes where essential to survival in early cultures, modern use of
stereotypes have turned to the extremes clouded by hatred of those who are different. In equatorial
Africa a small species of human, Australopithecus, roamed the savannah. In order to survive they
small bipedal species most likely based its day to day decisions such as what food to gather, and
where to sleep, based on the movement and location of larger predators such as lions. They used the

Oxidation Titration
Introduction/Theoretical Background: A common task in chemistry is the determination of a substance
present in a product. If the product contains a substance that can be oxidized, then it is possible to
determine the number of moles of that substance by titrating the sample with a solution of a strong
oxidizing agent. In this lab, a solution of KMnO4, an oxidizing agent, will be standardized by titration
with a solution containing a known concentration of iron (II) ions, (Fe+). The concentration of oxalic
acid solution will be determined by titration with the MnO4 solution that had been standardized first.

How Corporate Greed Is Uniquely A Part Of A Public...
This weeks forum question is what brings you here and interests you. I became a public administration
student after many careers in multiple fields of management. These included retail, healthcare and

public administration is all encompassing and goes hand in hand with organizational management
studies. I do have an interest as well in local government. I grew up in a terrific, but non political
family and now that I am older, I realize that becoming more knowledgeable of the political world that
surrounds me makes me happy. My lack of understanding of the political and governmental
environment was a void I wished to fill. APUS is helping me with that. Additionally, I enjoy research
and writing. The APUS public administration program continues to challenge me to research and
develop my own theories that demonstrate understanding of subject matter. I ve been surprised by the
type of information that is publicly available in scholarly articles. My research paper for this course
will address how corporate greed is uniquely a part of Americas capitalistic culture. Specifically,
through examples, I wish to discuss its relationship with our Democratic system. I will contrast the
UK and EU cultures with our own. This subject may appear to be critical of American culture.
However, this paper will in part seek to discover without judgment how corporate greed serves to

the relationship between art and reality. However, whereas the narrator in The Oval Portrait is able to
soundly distinguish illusion from reality, Catherine s boundless imagination clouds her reason and
adversely affects her judgment.

Borrowing the plot details of various gothic novels, Catherine attempts to interpret the General s
character to conform to the outlines of the evil and mysterious villain, a stock character in the Gothic
novel. The general s worry over her well being is misread as a threat to Catherine. His avoidance of a
path favoured by his late wife is misconstrued as guilt. Even the absence of the late Mrs Tilney s
portrait in his room is attributed to cruelty. Imagination clouds her reason and deduction, as she
assumes the worst despite lack of evidence. For instance, Catherine claims that there was a something
in the turn of his features which spoke his not having behaved well to her, such something being an
unspecified product of her fantasy. As she gradually comes to think the worst of the General, it is
because she has often read of such characters. Unlike the book in The Oval Portrait , which
represented a retreat from the extreme to reality, books in Northanger Abbey represents Catherine s
alternate reality, that of a gothic mystery. She considers herself a heroine living through her books and
pursuing some other truth. The reader follows Catherine s stream of consciousness as she searches for
clues and pieces of evidence: Here was another proof. A portrait very like of a departed wife, not
valued by the husband! He must have been dreadfully cruel to

ENG 2D1

Three Influential Characters to Vahan Kenderian
Everyone is a product of past experiences, Vahan Kenderian is no different. Vahan was a twelve year
old child from a wealthy Armenian family living in Bitlis, Turkey during the Armenian genocide in the
early 1900 s. Within a two day span, Vahan s life begins to fall apart, his father is taken away from
him, two of his brothers are killed in front of him, his grandmother is also killed, and his sister kills
herself. Vahan and his older brother fortunately escape, but are forced to abandon their mother and
sister. Vahan then begins his journey to flee to Constantipole. During his journey, he encounters many
people along the way who teach him life lessons. Firstly, his father Sarkis Kenderian gives strength
and guidance to Vahan. Secondly, Ara Sarkisian the coppersmith teaches Vahan that home is not made
of materialistic things, it is a feeling and time takes away everything. Lastly, Selim Bey advises Vahan
to worry about himself, and to pick and choose his friends carefully. Therefore, Sarkis, Ara and Selim
teach Vahan the most through their interactions and change his character for the better.
Vahan s father is a huge influence and inspiration for him. Vahan aspires to be just like his father
wanted him to be, strong, determined, and proud. As much as his father s words haunt him, they also
inspire Vahan to continue moving forward. When Vahan and Sisak are in trouble they recite

Metal Music In The 1940s
In the 1980s there was a seeming uprise of various musical movements branching off from rock style
music. At this time there were many who gained attention by favoring pop rock music. There were
bands Like Rainbow, Uriah Heep and Judas Priest who considered themselves Metal music however
they seemed to favor commercial rock music to gain popularity and stay on the radar. And then there
was a slowly rising act that was underground for most of the late 1970 s to early 1980 s. This
underground movement was known as the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). Many of
these bands played in local areas and venues in hopes of gaining money while having fun. These
bands were to stay true to metal music in hopes to make faster and more aggressive ... Show more

This style is constant in their music and became a popular taste among the young. This style inspired
many to create faster and increasingly vulgar display of music. Creating a new culture of loyal fans
and followers. Iron Maiden brought new things to the table as often as they could introducing the use
of keyboards and new technologies being used at the time in their music. Iron maiden had a huge
impact on what was known heavy metal in 1980s. Their mascot Eddie the Head became an iconic
symbol associated to heavy metal. Even inspiring new artist to create mascots of their own. The font
used to write their band logo is often used as well as a pop culture icon when referring to things heavy
metal. Their Fast paced music called for the creation of people known as headbanger given the title for
their iconic headbanging motion when listening to rhythmic and fast paced music. This movement of
headbangers created a culture of Metal fans wearing vulgar clothes and violent shirts to create a sense
of intimidation. The rise of headbangers lead to the making of faster tempo music. One trying to top
the other on how dark and deep and fast it sounded. The idea of playing songs ideally talking about
sensitive topic, war, violence, and even satanism was all thought about when creating this type of
music for it s what they thought was Bad A . Head banging culture was the cause for thrash metal and
soon the NWOBHM movement began inspiring new branches of music. All branched off a unique
style that came from NWOBHM whether it be its intimation sense, it s fast paced music, or the lyrics
they had for their songs. This soon led to a drift in music fans in the

Galen Strawson On Moral Responsibility
Galen Strawson refutes the idea that we have free will and claims that we cannot be morally
responsible for our actions. According to his basic argument nothing can be the cause of itself or causa
sui, and in order for one to be morally responsible for their actions they have to be the cause of one
self. Therefore, since we are not causa sui we are not morally responsible for our actions. He claims
that we do not have free will because we do actions that have a reason behind them and if a person
acts for a reason they act that way because of how they are mentally. Thus, if no one responsible for
their mental state they are not responsible for the actions that occur. A person has to be responsible for
their self makeup to be morally responsible and since no one is responsible for this they are not
morally responsible for their actions.
Moral responsibility from my view is for someone to do something and later is held accountable for
their actions. To be morally responsible one must have the power or right to act or think as one wants
without restraint. Whether they use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, a person goes to a supermarket and wants to buy fruit, there are a variety of fruit at the
supermarket. The person has plenty of options and because these options are presented to him he has
the free will to choose which fruit he wants to buy. Meaning that having options and having the ability
to choose one thing over indicates that we do have free will and therefore are morally responsible for
our actions. Adding on we also have the ability to resist or engage in certain actions meaning we can
say yes or no to certain things and that we aren t forced into choosing whether yes or no. Just like
having options we have the right to resist certain options and engage in certain options. The person in
the supermarket can say yes to apples and no to

Software And Software Based Systems Testing
Introduction Software and software based systems testing is a technical discipline of systems
engineering. The purpose of software and software based systems testing is to help the development
organization build quality into the software and system during the life cycle processes and to validate
that the quality was achieved. The test process determines whether the products of a given life cycle
activity conform to the requirements of that activity, and whether the product satisfies its intended use
and user needs. This determination can include inspection, demonstration, analysis, and testing of
software and software based system products. Test activities are performed in parallel with software
and system development, not just at the conclusion of the development effort. IEEE 829 supports all
software life cycle processes, including acquisition, supply, development, operation, and maintenance.
This standard is compatible with all life cycle models. Not all life cycle models use all of the life cycle
processes listed in this standard. System and software test processes determine whether the outcomes
of a given activity conform to the requirements of that activity and whether the development product
satisfies its intended use and user needs. The determination may include analysis, demonstration,
inspection, and testing of software products. The user of this standard may invoke those software life
cycle processes and the associated test processes that apply to the project.

Ultralight Obligations

Stereotypes In The Film Alien By Sigourney Weaver
Alien is one of the greatest horror films ever made and features Sigourney Weaver as the main
character. She was one of the first female actors to play a role typical for a man in a blockbuster film.
Her physical features are more masculine such as her short hair and her lack of make up or seductive
clothing. Her actions and decisions in the movie were those of power and leadership unlike the typical
support role that women played during that time. To put it plainly, she was a real badass, and never
before had a female actor played such a role. She defied stereotypes and set an incredible of example
of what roles women could play in movies. She not only played the role of a hero but she also
managed to be the only survivor of the entire crew. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A large majority of what I learned was familiar due to the fact I ve taken an array of social science
classes as well as investigated on my own the workings of our society. I ve always been intrigued with
the invisible mechanics of life and because of my lack of social skills, I frequently suppose the role of
an analyzer. I think the sociological imagination was the most interesting concept because it provided
me with a greater range of tools to analyze the way I see things. The concept felt like someone
perfectly stated what I was thinking. I know this isn t common to be publicly expressed, but I feel as
though drugs are one of the ways to tap into the sociological imagination. The effects of marijuana are
enjoyable to me mostly because I think of things in an entirely different perspective than ever before.
This may not be true for everyone but drugs offer us, if we re aware, a different perspective on life. I

The Five Eighty Eight By John Cheever
What personality traits do we display with our actions? Our personalities are shaped by our life
experiences and the people around us. They re shaped by our upbringing, the way our parents treated
us and the many thing we learned from them. They re shaped by our past experiences whether a being
on the receiving end of a kind deed by another person, or the receiving end of a gross injustice. These
experiences shape our personalities and in turn shape how we view the world and treat those around
us. John Cheever s The Five Forty Eight is the story about a woman trying to put herself back together
after being broken, albeit in a slightly questionable way. Miss Dent is a woman who previously spent
8 months in a hospital, and is still clearly a bit unhinged. She is a fragile woman who becomes
attached to Mr. Blake after he hires her as his secretary. Mr. Blake sees how vulnerable she is and
takes advantage of her, afterwards having an employee fire her and keep her from seeing him. Months
later Miss Dent stalks Mr. Blake, cornering him on the Five Forty Eight. Mr. Blake is terrified, but
Miss Dent claims she will not kill him as long as he listens to her. After Miss Dent has made him feel
the way he made her, she leaves him on the platform; weeping as he made her, but unharmed. Many
aspects of Mr. Blake s personality are displayed throughout the story as we observe his thoughts and
the way he treats others. Two powerful personality traits dominate Mr. Blake in John Cheever s

Consequences And Outline The Events Of Operation Eagle Claw
Operation Eagle Claw SSG Ladd, Casey Operation Eagle Claw The purpose of this paper is to outline
the events of Operation Eagle Claw (a rescue mission) the mistakes made, lessons learned, and
alternate outcomes. Operation Eagle Claw was essentially doomed from the beginning. President
Carter hastily authorized a Joint Forces operation which inevitably failed due to lack of understanding
and training between the forces. There was no single point of failure for the mission; it was across the
board, from training to planning, intelligence collection, and time. Planning November 4, 1979 was
the day that led to a disastrous mission for the United States. On this day 52 Americans were taken
hostage in the United States embassy in Tehran (Helicopter History Site 1997). The United States
spent months trying to negotiate the release of the hostages, while formulating a rescue operation in
the event negotiations failed. March 31st Recon elements went over to evaluate and establish a
landing area that would accommodate EC 130 s. The landing area, known as Desert One (figure 1),
was a staging area in Khorasan Province Iran. Desert One, was equipped with remotely operated Infra
red lights and strobes to allow the pilots to see the improvised runway with night vision goggles.
During the recon, soil samples were gathered to ensure the EC 130 s would be able to land, at the time
of the recon, the landing strip was hard packed sand (Helicopter History Site 1997). With negotiations

Nothing In King Lear
A Play About Nothing
The word nothing appears multiple times throughout King Lear, which further emphasizes its
significance. In King Lear, family ties are destroyed by the characters actions which negatively lead to
nothing. Authority and power of characters are seen through their social standards and later stripped of
these powers, and are ultimately left with nothing. Lastly, being in a state where being oblivious to
surroundings one naturally knows nothing and will lead to nothing. In King Lear, by William
Shakespeare, the theme of the play is ultimately about nothing, this is seen through family ties, social
standards, and the blindness of surroundings.

Authority and power are commonly depicted on how much a character holds and how powerful they
are through their physical appearances. Edgar and Lear are two characters whose characters change in
their physical aspects. Lear uses his army to portray his power in society, but it is his daughters who
strip him away for This man hath had good counsel! A hundred knights? (1.iv.331 332). This
demonstrates that appearance is power and without his knights he is powerless and has nothing. The
fool declares Lear s appearance of nothingness through his crown Thou hadst little wit in thy bald
crown when thou gavest thy golden one away (1.iv.160 101). Lear having a high social status, King,
has given all of his power away and is left with nothing. Lear is later seen ripping his clothes due to
the fact that he is accepting that he has gained a low status of being nothing. Like Lear, Edgar strips of

voice, advocacy means making sure they are heard; where they have difficulty speaking up, it means

INTRODUCTION
The aim of this research was to look at the discrimination towards teenagers from certain family
backgrounds, like stepfamilies, ethnic families and single parent families in council housing estates.
The aim is to look at the age range of 13 18 years, as these youngsters have a tendency to be criticised
more by society. With no thought that they are individuals with different morals and personalities.
There is a high level of petty crime, recreational drugs, truancy and teenage pregnancy in this range of
younger people. There is also a higher level of social exclusions for this age group. There is always a
tendency to lay blame on their circumstances and backgrounds. It is not necessarily true that if you
come from a less adequate background, that you are more likely to be an underachiever. If you give
someone self esteem then they can always do better. People assume that they can pass judgement on
someone else s life, which is labelling them as inadequate.
Like traditional stereotypes, the teenager has been given a distorted image by the modern media (Int,
2003). Both young people and older adults deserve more choices in where and how they spend their
time. Others should not dictate them, how and where. The need is more acceptable for this to happen

  • 2. What Are The Advantages And Disadvantage Of Polymers Polymers are all around us, a fact that we cannot deny. Polymers are used by everyone of all ages. Man has used natural polymers throughout history, but it is only in the last 60 years that we have been able to make our own synthetic polymers. Polymers have been used vastly in many industrial applications until now. However, like any other organic compounds, polymer burn readily in presence of oxygen, and generally thermoplastics are worse than thermoset materials. The flammability of polymers can limit their applications. Fire safety concerns regarding flammability of polymers has put specific and strict requirements for certain types of application, for example in enclosed and inescapable areas, namely airplane cabin. Though lightweight and high performance polymeric materials are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Vinyl bromide (added to PMMA as flame retardant). ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES Flame retardants are widely used in the world right now as to prevent fire from occurring easily. Inorganic flame retardants mostly have no health and environmental issue, but for halogenated flame retardants, some of the countries have banned the usage of it. For the mineral oxide flame retardants, it is shown that mineral oxide or any inorganic fillers will reduce the flammable content of the product, and modifies its thermal conductivity and its thermophysical properties to slow down the combustion of the product. The example of product using mineral oxide flame retardants is low smoke cable compound. Halogenated polymer such as brominated flame retardants are widely used in plastics and textile industry because of its effectiveness. But most of brominated flame retardants have big issues with the environment and health. Some brominated flame retardants were identified as persistent, bio accumulative, and toxic towards human and the environment. As an example, fire fighters which were exposed to brominated fire retardants during firefighting operations were found to have cancer that exceeds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the very next pitch Jake tries to bunt again and actually gets it down the third base side, a perfectly placed bunt in my opinion, and takes off for first. The catcher springs out of his squat and goes to get the ball, he throws, and SAFE! screamed the umpire named Donovan. Jake had made it, and was most likely going to get the steal sign. All of our team, The Complete Game Rangers, were on the fence pounding it relentlessly, and screaming random gibberish. We all calm down as our catcher Ry, whose hair is lucky , comes up. • 7. Looking At Commercial Real Estate Is it better for an investor to rent or buy commercial real estate in 2016? Investors looking at commercial real estate (CRE) this year and wondering whether to lease or buy should consider a few factors first. And then, if they have the access to adequate capital, they should buy. We ll look at the reasons why in a bit, but first let s look at why not to lease. Little Upside to Leasing Leasing in 2016 will be less attractive than in recent years. Vacancy rates for office, warehouse/industrial and retail space will stay low or drop this year, signifying a more competitive marketplace for commercial renters. Moreover, by purchasing commercial property, an investor gains an asset that will continue to increase in value rather better than a lease dragging on the bottom line. The Price is Right In good news to potential buyers, economists expect real estate prices to, after a three year period of extreme growth, slow down substantially beginning in 2016. For the first time since 2009 the Moody s/RCA Commercial Property Price Index (CPPI) is dropping below the long term average growth rate of 5.8 %. The CPPI will continue to grow at very subdued and slowing rates : 5 percent in 2016 (down from 12.7 percent in 2015), 2.7 percent in 2017, and 3 percent in 2018. What this data shows is that not only is the moment ripe for buying CRE, but also that properties will continue to increase in value over the next couple of years, just more slowly. For an investor looking at a secure product with long term potential, CRE is a vehicle with promise. However, there are some reasons for investors to be cautious about purchasing. Less Available Cash Paralleling the drop in price growth, this year marks the first time since 2009 that the issuance of commercial mortgage backed securities (CMBS), a key source of funding for commercial real estate, is decreasing, from $101 billion in 2015 sharply to $85 billion. America had a shaky start in the engineering field, but the profession quickly picked up speed. From 2009 to 2013, engineering degrees grew twice as fast as other disciplines (Bidwell, The number of STEM degrees earned in the last 5 years grew exceptionally ). Everything from the most basic principles of engineering and the minutiae of an engineer s daily routine, to complexities such as payment and respect for the profession have changed drastically since the 1800s due to more people becoming open to the ideas of innovation and diversity in such an integral field. To be considered a professional engineer, a license is needed (Mraz, Changes in the Engineering Profession Over 80 Years ). Another evolution of engineering that occurred, was companies switching to a system called concurrent engineering. This is essentially just making sure that all of the employees for a certain job understand each step of the design process, giving them the ability to share opinions on each step along the way. Prior to this development, each engineer in a company had knowledge only on their specialty and could not offer input on any other process. This was largely implemented in the 1980s. When this was used, companies had 100% improvement in quality (Salustri, an Extremely Abbreviated History of Engineering Design ). Engineering used to be a small, seemingly insignificant job. There were not many places and ways to successfully apply engineering, and even in the times where actual engineering was done, the engineer may not have been properly credited. There were people throughout history that accomplished things that would today be categorized as engineering, but at the time, all the fields of engineering had not yet been discovered. A good example of this is Dr. William Gorgas, who believed that mosquitoes were responsible for infecting thousands of workers with malaria during the building of the ... Comprehensive sexuality education give teenagers the nine yards on sexuality. Teens are taught everything from condom use, birth control use, and where to get it. In some cases teens are taught about homosexuality, heterosexuality, and abortions. Instead of teaching the negative side of sex it teaches teens that sex is a healthy, normal part of life. You learn the advantages of abstinence, but for teens who want to get involved or have already been in sexual relationships they learn how to protect themselves. Studies show that balanced programs that promote both abstinence and safer sex are most effective and allow young people to make responsible choices. In a review of 35 programs, the World Health Organization found that abstinence only programs were less effective than programs that promoted delaying first intercourse as well as promoting safer sex practices including use of contraceptives and condoms (Advocates for Youth, 2003). So comprehensive based education gives teens enough information on both subjects to help them make the right decision. Unlike in abstinence programs, if teens ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Environmental Challenges Facing The American Automotive... Environmental Challenges Facing the American Automotive Industry Since Henry Ford invented the mass production techniques that made cars affordable to the public, the United State s economy has been dramatically influenced by this key component in its affluence. Exponentially, jobs were created because the auto business grew. Employees were needed for the constantly growing assembly lines. Consequently, Ford s model Ts became the primary preferred, affordable, mass manufactured cars. (Davis, 2012). For more than a century, the United States automotive industry constantly had a large impact on the national economy. The quantity of cars sold annually has always been a reliable indicator of the nation s economic well being. Thus, once the recession hit in 2008, automotive sales declined sharply, indicating the decrease in customer purchase power. Environmental challenges impacting the American automotive industry consist of, yet not limited to, fierce global competition, vigorous technological advancements race, emissions and governmental approach toward a cleaner environment and, finally, customer satisfaction of the American product. Global competition resulted in decreased market share for American automobile makers and jeopardized company profits as a lot of foreign brands approached the American market. • 15. Stereotypes Exposed On Skin Color Stereotypes have existed since humans first began to roam the planet. Early Australopithecus, the first humans, most likely used stereotypes when deciding their daily task. Stereotypes such as everything are dangerous and want to kill them. Later as Homo sapiens created cities and civilianization s stereotypes helped evaluate an incoming threat so they could close the city and gather a defense to save not only themselves but everything they worked hard to create from those who would kill them and take the city from them. But modern human s ability to perceive threats have been clouded by stereotypes base on skin color; to a point where anyone who is different is a threat who needs to be eliminated. A proactive human whose flight or fight response is to fight will sometimes attack this perceived threat without any other information aside from the stereotype. These attacks can sometimes lead to the arrest or death of the threat who, in most cases, was an innocent in the wrong place at the wrong time. So while stereotypes where essential to survival in early cultures, modern use of stereotypes have turned to the extremes clouded by hatred of those who are different. In equatorial Africa a small species of human, Australopithecus, roamed the savannah. I do have an interest as well in local government. I grew up in a terrific, but non political family and now that I am older, I realize that becoming more knowledgeable of the political world that surrounds me makes me happy. My lack of understanding of the political and governmental environment was a void I wished to fill. APUS is helping me with that. Additionally, I enjoy research and writing. The APUS public administration program continues to challenge me to research and develop my own theories that demonstrate understanding of subject matter. I ve been surprised by the type of information that is publicly available in scholarly articles. My research paper for this course will address how corporate greed is uniquely a part of Americas capitalistic culture. Specifically, through examples, I wish to discuss its relationship with our Democratic system. I will contrast the UK and EU cultures with our own. • 21. Comparison Of Northanger Abbey And The Oval Portrait Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey and Edgar Allan Poe s The Oval Portrait portray confusion between imagination and reality. In the excerpt of Northanger Abbey, Catherine comes to learn about the late Mrs Tilney while on a walk with Eleanor. In contrast, the excerpt of The Oval Portrait details the narrator s delirious encounter with a life like portrait of a young woman. Both excerpts explore how the relationship between art and reality. However, whereas the narrator in The Oval Portrait is able to soundly distinguish illusion from reality, Catherine s boundless imagination clouds her reason and adversely affects her judgment. Borrowing the plot details of various gothic novels, Catherine attempts to interpret the General s character to conform to the outlines of the evil and mysterious villain, a stock character in the Gothic novel. The general s worry over her well being is misread as a threat to Catherine. His avoidance of a path favoured by his late wife is misconstrued as guilt. Even the absence of the late Mrs Tilney s portrait in his room is attributed to cruelty. Imagination clouds her reason and deduction, as she assumes the worst despite lack of evidence. For instance, Catherine claims that there was a something in the turn of his features which spoke his not having behaved well to her, such something being an unspecified product of her fantasy. As she gradually comes to think the worst of the General, it is because she has often read of such characters. Unlike the book in The Oval Portrait , which represented a retreat from the extreme to reality, books in Northanger Abbey represents Catherine s alternate reality, that of a gothic mystery. She considers herself a heroine living through her books and pursuing some other truth. The reader follows Catherine s stream of consciousness as she searches for clues and pieces of evidence: Here was another proof. A portrait very like of a departed wife, not valued by the husband! • 24. Galen Strawson On Moral Responsibility Galen Strawson refutes the idea that we have free will and claims that we cannot be morally responsible for our actions. According to his basic argument nothing can be the cause of itself or causa sui, and in order for one to be morally responsible for their actions they have to be the cause of one self. Therefore, since we are not causa sui we are not morally responsible for our actions. He claims that we do not have free will because we do actions that have a reason behind them and if a person acts for a reason they act that way because of how they are mentally. Thus, if no one responsible for their mental state they are not responsible for the actions that occur. A person has to be responsible for their self makeup to be morally responsible and since no one is responsible for this they are not morally responsible for their actions. • 25. Software And Software Based Systems Testing Introduction Software and software based systems testing is a technical discipline of systems engineering. The purpose of software and software based systems testing is to help the development organization build quality into the software and system during the life cycle processes and to validate that the quality was achieved. The test process determines whether the products of a given life cycle activity conform to the requirements of that activity, and whether the product satisfies its intended use and user needs. This determination can include inspection, demonstration, analysis, and testing of software and software based system products. Test activities are performed in parallel with software and system development, not just at the conclusion of the development effort. IEEE 829 supports all software life cycle processes, including acquisition, supply, development, operation, and maintenance. This standard is compatible with all life cycle models. Not all life cycle models use all of the life cycle processes listed in this standard. System and software test processes determine whether the outcomes of a given activity conform to the requirements of that activity and whether the development product satisfies its intended use and user needs. • 29. The Five Eighty Eight By John Cheever What personality traits do we display with our actions? Our personalities are shaped by our life experiences and the people around us. They re shaped by our upbringing, the way our parents treated us and the many thing we learned from them. They re shaped by our past experiences whether a being on the receiving end of a kind deed by another person, or the receiving end of a gross injustice. These experiences shape our personalities and in turn shape how we view the world and treat those around us. John Cheever s The Five Forty Eight is the story about a woman trying to put herself back together after being broken, albeit in a slightly questionable way. Miss Dent is a woman who previously spent 8 months in a hospital, and is still clearly a bit unhinged. She is a fragile woman who becomes attached to Mr. Blake after he hires her as his secretary. Mr. Blake sees how vulnerable she is and takes advantage of her, afterwards having an employee fire her and keep her from seeing him. Months later Miss Dent stalks Mr. Blake, cornering him on the Five Forty Eight. Mr. Blake is terrified, but Miss Dent claims she will not kill him as long as he listens to her. After Miss Dent has made him feel the way he made her, she leaves him on the platform; weeping as he made her, but unharmed. Many aspects of Mr. Blake s personality are displayed throughout the story as we observe his thoughts and the way he treats others. Two powerful personality traits dominate Mr. Blake in John Cheever s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With no thought that they are individuals with different morals and personalities. There is a high level of petty crime, recreational drugs, truancy and teenage pregnancy in this range of younger people. There is also a higher level of social exclusions for this age group. There is always a tendency to lay blame on their circumstances and backgrounds. It is not necessarily true that if you come from a less adequate background, that you are more likely to be an underachiever. If you give someone self esteem then they can always do better. People assume that they can pass judgement on someone else s life, which is labelling them as inadequate. Like traditional stereotypes, the teenager has been given a distorted image by the modern media (Int, 2003).
