Journal Entry Reflection
In last week s journal entry I stated that this week PVEPD would be conducting active shooter
training, but the training is postponed for now. During this week s shifts, I finished the putting
together the emergency operation plan binders, cleaned the briefing room, and went to the department
s shooting range where I had the opportunity to shoot AR 15 and a Glock 22. I spent both Monday and
Tuesday s shift at the shooting in the basement of the police department. The shooting range which is
located underneath the department and can be accessed through the parking garage. There are two
rooms in the basement one room is storage for the gun range and the other room is the actually
shooting range. Each room requires a special type of key and passcode ... Show more content on

To disinfect and clean both the kitchen and briefing room I used Clorox wipes. So I started off wiping
all the handles on the cabinets and doors and then moved to the tables in briefing. Once I knew that
tables and all the handles were wiped down good I moved to wiping down the two phones in briefing.
In the kitchen, I washed the dishes that were in the sink and made a fresh pot of coffee. I also wiped
down the kitchen table and all the appliances in the kitchen. I also made sure to give the kitchen phone
a good wipe down as well. Once the cleaning part was done I emptied both the kitchens and briefing
trash cans in the dumpster

Social Skills And Technical Education
This study investigated social skills and problem behaviors of general and special education career
and technical education students using the Social Skills Rating System instrument (SSRS). In addition,
the study compared self reported social skill ratings of career and technical education students with
and without disabilities, and compared the teachers and employers ratings of career and technical
education students social skills and problem behaviors.
The research questions addressed in this study were as follows:
1. Did the content analysis of the special education students individual transition plans (ITPs) reveal
social skills and problem behaviors?
2. Did the mean social skill score for the general education students significantly higher than the mean
social skill score for the special education students?
3. Did employers and teachers in career and technical education differ significantly in their social
skills and problem behavior ratings of general education students?
4. Did employers and teachers in career and technical education differ significantly in their social
skills and problem behavior ratings of special education students?
2. The study:
A. Participants
This study s participants included 48 career and technical education students in grades 9 through 12
from two different high schools in Denton County, Texas. The participants were 24 students without
disabilities from the general education career and technical education program, and 24 students from

Research Paper On Magnets
Levitating is not only for magicians, but for magnets too. Scientist have been using magnetism to
create levitation for years. Recently, they have advanced their technology and expanded their
knowledge about magnetism and levitation and conformed them to be used in everyday life. Magnetic
levitation can be broken down into so many different topics such as magnetism and levitation, but
there is a much deeper meaning to magnetic levitation. A magnet is an object that has a magnetic field.
It can attract heavy objects such as iron and steel. A magnet can be in many shapes and sizes. The
word magnet came from the elderly Cretan shepherd, Magnes. He supposedly found a rock that had a
strong magnetic force. In the rock was large amounts of lodestone. The most common magnet used
today is the bar magnet. They can also be used in compasses. ... Show more content on

Magnetic levitation uses the natural repelling nature of the poles that are of the same kind to control
levitation. This can come in many different forms and all made differently. One way is permanent
magnets, which is the easiest of all the forms because it does not require any outside material to make
the levitation, but it is not very controllable. Magnetism is the main component in the levitation act.
Magnetism has been around ever since Earth was created. It is the force that is generated by the
motion of electrons within its atoms. Earth spins and has gravity because of magnetism. It is created
within the processes inside of earth, the core. Earths core is made of iron and ore that is constantly in a
spinning motion which forms a pure magnetic force. Magnetism also creates north and south poles
that the earth spins. The magnetism that earth gives off is called earths magnetic

The Hypothesized Finnish Population Bottleneck
The hypothesized Finnish population bottleneck is supported by archaeological evidence that shows
the number of artifacts significantly decreased at roughly the same time as hypothesized. When taken
together, the genetic and archaeological records suggest that there may have been a population
bottleneck. The hypothesized population bottleneck circa 4000 BP (2000 BCE) has been increasingly
researched over the past few decades, as genetic evidence has come to support the existing
archaeological evidence for such an event. Recent genetic testing has shown that there is very low
diversity on the Y chromosome, suggesting that the number of male ancestral lineages was small,
especially compared to the rest of Europe. This is evidence for a population bottleneck that killed a
large portion of the population at some point in the past. In addition, there are genetic differences
between eastern and western Finland the presence of Finnish Disease Heritage, where certain genetic
diseases are found in proportions different from the rest of the Europe, as is common in groups with
decreased genetic diversity. Other arguments that explain the same evidence in other ways have been
proposed and no consensus has been reached on which side is correct. The archaeological evidence is
rooted in the number of artifacts found that can be dated to before and after the hypothesized
population bottleneck. This research relies on the assumption that a higher number of artifacts dated to
a certain

Sociological Imagination In Australian Society
Use your sociological imagination to reflect on your position in Australian society today. What social
factors have shaped who you are? (750 words) In this essay I will reflect upon how social factors such
as gender and family life have influenced my position in Australian society. At the age of 13 my
parents decided that I was old enough to catch the train into the city. When my brother reached this
age my parents were more reluctant in allowing him the same privilege, according to them I was more
mature so they trusted that I would be responsible. However, this opinion differed to other things we
did when growing up such as going to parties and going out at nigh. My parents were hesitant and
were always reluctant to let me go especially when I first started asking. At parties I was sent off with

from alcohol and drugs and call when you want to be picked up . When I started going out with
friends at night my parents were never comfortable unless they knew I was with a big group and that
my male friends would also be there. Again, this differs from my brother s experience. This change in
my parent s attitude towards my brother and myself demonstrate how gender plays such a strong role
in how individuals are treated. These examples explore how two people can be in the same situation
but are treated differently purely because one is female and one is male. The attitude my parents had
towards my safety was reflected by the idea of the risks associated with being a

Fort Myers Descriptive Writing
The almost deserted airport, the freezing cold plane ride, my noisy family; yes, we are definitely ready
for a vacation! Hot Florida sun and a ocean that stretches as far as the eye can see were all awaiting
us. The thrill of it all ran from the top of my head to the bottom of my flip flops that will surely be on
the beach in no time. Looking out the window of the airplane with popping ears, we came into landing
at the Fort Myers airport! The heavy luggage pulled my arms down while walking out of the airport to
find a rental car. The Florida sun and a hot breeze blew on my face, instantly lightening my drowsy
mood. Little did we know that we had to wait about 25 minutes before getting our car, and sitting
directly in the sun with a sweatshirt and pants on was unpleasant. Honking the horns on both of the
Jeeps we rented, we quickly threw our belongings in the trunk, hopped in the air conditioned vehicle,

parasail. A few miles out into the open ocean later, and we arrived at a bigger boat that held the
parasails. The clicks of the buckles around my waist boosted my adrenaline even higher than it already
was. 3, 2, 1, goodbye! Off we went, the wind catching our parasail and gliding us up further and
further in the air. Now, after getting up as high as 800 feet above the water, I got a little nervous. I
thought we would be sitting on more of a seat, but all we were placed on were seat belts!
Nevertheless, the views were breathtaking. I could see so much of Fort Myers and so much ocean
below me. I wanted the experience to last longer than 7

The Use Of Metal Detectors In School Shootings
School shootings have been on the rise in the United States since the early 80 s, questioning the safety
and security of schools all across the country. Lots of ideas have come up for trying to keep weapons
out of schools but the idea of having metal detectors has stuck and on paper seems to be a viable
option for schools but in real use they have lots of issues. One of the biggest problems with using
metal detectors in public schools will be cost. Cost affects many different things to do with the metal
detectors, two of the major factors being proper trained staff and paying for repairs. Another issue with
metal detectors are they are slow, make kids late to class and also make kids dread going to school in
the morning. There could be compromises made like alternative options like random checks or quick
pat downs but getting rid of this style of security would be better all together. Metal detectors should
not be used in schools because they make students late to class, cause anxiety and are too expensive to
be used in public schools. Metal detectors are making kids tired and late to class because the process is
so lengthy. Ms. Dunley, a teacher who works at a school where metal detectors are being used says
She marks several people late everyday because they are being held up by the metal detector . The
time that is being consumed by the metal detectors not only wastes class time but kids have to arrive
hours before school to wait in line to get passed the metal

The Beauty and Danger of Barangay Loyola Heights
Whether you are driving from C.P. Garcia, Commonwealth or White Plains, you can tell where you
are by spotting the towering buildings of Berkeley Residences or SM Blue. When you happen to drive
by this area, you can definitely feel the busy atmosphere with students and professionals here and
there either with a handful of papers to work on or just hanging out with their friends or colleagues,
and the air of rush hour in the morning and the afternoon. But in spite of the frustrations of this
crowded place brings daily, you can never deny the beauty of Barangay Loyola Heights, home to
several academic institutions such as the Ateneo de Manila University, and where the concrete jungle
and flora and fauna meet.
Meanwhile, Katipunan Avenue is a long stretch of buildings and institutions where higher educational
facilities and residential areas are situated and where students and businessmen flock for meetings and
the latest hangout places. Other areas of Barangay Loyola Heights like Esteban Abada St. and
Xavierville Avenue are also lined with similar establishments and high security subdivisions. Also, the
number of dormitories and high rise condominiums that cater students of nearby universities is
growing and the population of residents is increasing, so more and more shops and restaurants are

The Musical, My Fair Lady Directed By George Cukor
Critical Review This critical review is about the musical, My Fair Lady, directed by George Cukor
based on the play Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw. This musical altered some of the scenes and
added new ones. The basic storyline of the text is about a young flower girl that runs into a phonetics
teacher who claims that he could sell her as a duchess. The flower girl, which is later known to be
Eliza, takes up the offer and starts speech lessons with the teacher, Mr. Higgins. He coachers her night
and day to prepare her for a race and an embassy ball where she will meet royalty. Mr. Higgins is also
acquainted in the beginning with one of his respected colleagues who also specialize in phonetics,
Colonel Pickering. Although, Higgins treats her as baggage he soon gets attached to her and her ways.
Colonel Pickering however, treats her as a respectable lady. She has a great success at the ball but is
not recognized for it, which disappoints her. She decides to run away to Mrs. Higgins house where she
found by Higgins and Pickering. She organizes her thoughts with Higgins and says she will never
come back to them but at the end of the movie, not the play, she comes back to Higgins and Pickering.
The main play and musical is based off of a similar storyline which goes something like this: There is
a young flower girl who has a cockney accent which prevents her from getting a nice high paying job.
Her dream is to work in a flower shop as an assistant. She runs into a phonetics

Gustave Flaubert Writing Style
The 1800 s was a century of change. Medicine was advancing, the effects of the Enlightenment were
still underway, and a new age of exploration occurred as those of Europe began to extend their hands
across the world towards America. During these times the common folk changed and adapted many of
their ideals, and suffered many hardships and heartaches. In this period, a man of Normandy named
Gustave Flaubert caught many of these hardships within his writings. With words, thoughts, and
crafted phrases, he showed what the common people of this period went through day by day. As an
article put out by TV Tropes explains, Flaubert was famous for his precise, straightforward writing
style, filled with the ideal of realism:

Felicite, as explained at the very beginning of the story, was known for her cleanliness, making people
all around them envy Madame Aubaine for her choice of servant. Though Madame Aubaine s story is
interesting in itself, the story of Felicite is not only one of importance to the story but also to our
understanding of these times in general. Her father and mother were both killed when she was very
young, and when her siblings split up without her she was left alone to find work. Most places where
she found it were hostile to a young woman of eighteen, leaving her vulnerable to physical and verbal
abuse. She even experienced this through a brief relationship, and though she did end up loving him
he eventually revealed he was only looking for someone to marry to avoid the draft. Walking away in
defeat, she found Madame Aubaine and signed on to work for her fifty years. It s here that she begins
the biggest of her struggles. Under Madame Aubaine she suffered four hardships that were common in
Felicite s days. Her first hardship was the loss of her nephew on his journey to America. As explained
in the story, when Felicite s nephew left for the new world she constantly paced back and forth hoping
a letter from him would arrive soon. The constant anxiety of never knowing whether or not he was
alright was something that those who knew New World travelers experienced often. Even more people
lost loved ones to this voyage as Felicite did. Without the instant communication and

The Impact Of River Macroinvertebrates On The Chemical...
Literature Review The main purpose of this literature review is to collate information on how river
macroinvertebrates are collected and how the concentrations of phosphorus, nitrogen, ammonia or
BOD in the water relate to the families of macroinvertebrates present. Different methods have been
used to help collect and identify macroinvertebrates and monitor pollution levels. This review mainly
focuses on the kick sampling technique for collecting macroinvertebrates. It then describes the
methods that are used to collect the levels of ammonia, phosphorus, BOD and nitrogen. Foy et al
(2001) wished to access the effectiveness of regulatory controls on farm pollution using chemical and
biological indices of water quality and pollution statistics. The water quality was tested in 42 streams
in the Colebrooke and Upper Bann catchments in Northern Ireland during 1990 1998. This was a large
timescale therefore more results were collaborated. The method used to collect the samples of
invertebrates was kick sampling, these samples were then taken back to the laboratory to identify
them. Using the BMWP scoring system a score was then given to the macroinvertebrates, relating to
how organic pollution had affected them, with 1 being tolerant and 10 being highly sensitive. To know
the pollution statistics there was recorded incidents on farm pollution assessed between 1987 and
1997, this was from a relational farm pollution database. The measurements that Foy et al (2001) took

Why We Shouldn T Have Classroom Pets
Classroom have been known to have plenty of benefits, but are they really as good as they seem?
Classroom pets are well known since they help kids learn important lessons, but they have also been
known to hurt things in schools. Classroom pets hurt the animals, and support cruel pet trade and are
unhealthy. Clearly, classrooms pets are a very bad idea.
First of all, we shouldn t have classrooms pets is that it hurts the animals lives and their ways of life.
For example, some information from source 3 that supports this is, Many suffer from missed meals,
unsanitary living conditions, and lack of climate control. This means that people in the school forget
about the class pet sometime because they have other important things to do. This could ... Show more

Some evidence from source 1 that supports this is: pets come from come from awful breeding
facilities where they ve been kept in horrific and filthy conditions. This means that people who do
horrible things to animals actually gain from some class pets bought off them. Sometimes a class that
can t care for the pet gives it away to these people. These bad conditions can cause a pet to catch a
disease, which could be carried to the classrooms. These people are bad, but won t be going out of
business to soon if we keep supporting them. More information that supports pets hurting kids from
source 1 is, Bacteria such as salmonella can be spread by the handling of reptiles and frogs, and
rodents such as hamsters can carry transmittable diseases. This shows that the good intentions of
helping kids learn life lessons can not only hurt the animals, but the people around the animals too. We
indirectly hurt kids if we let them near these types of pets. Not all pets carry diseases, but one that
have been brought up by cruel breeders have a greater chance to have these problems. Nobody wants
kids to get disease from their own pets or have animals get kept so badly, so why risk it just to

Analysis Of Meno By Socrates
We all have questions: what am I? What is a human being? What is the meaning of life? Where are we
going as a society? Sometimes we might wake up in a cold sweat at night and despair about ever truly
having the answers. We joke around with them. We brush them off. We do anything but face them. We
refuse to give them power over us. These are truly questions that need to be asked that we have to
confront because only with sound answers will we be able to go forward in our lives meaningfully.
Philosophy empowers us to ask the big questions, the questions that matter. It is a way to not let the
fear take over our lives, but to live without fear of the unknown. Even if these questions seem too
broad, too all encompassing they can be broken down ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Public opinion is what friends and neighbors spout out to us. The things that appear to be true.
Lessons we absorb without even truly thinking it over. What the media pumps out at us every day. We
get it from all angles, without second guessing it. But maybe it should be second guessed. Meno is the
perfect example of what happens when we don t philosophize, or question. Meno goes out and gives
grand speeches about virtue, all accumulations of what other people have told him like Gorgias, but
doesn t truly understand the subject. When Socrates asks him to define virtue he can give examples
but not an actual definition. Finally, Meno is rendered silent, and he realizes that he truly doesn t have
an answer to give Socrates. He has never questioned himself or what he knows to be true, but has only
had a bunch of unsupported opinions from what other people have told him. He comes across as
uneducated, and ill informed, because he has never gone out to investigate for himself the true from
the false. And he didn t even have true opinions on his side. Under philosophy, all these various
sources come under the scrutiny of reason. Philosophy gets us to be proactive instead of simply
reactive. We become the engines of our lives, instead of the cog in a wheel, moving at the pace of
everyone else s opinions or beliefs, we spur our own thinking. Is what everyone else says about
money, children, travel, or work really true? Philosophy engages us in asking whether a long held
thought or belief is really logical on its own merit rather than simply saying that it must be correct on
the merit of the person or group that makes it look so, like Meno. Instead of a compilation of false
opinions that we pass of as ours, we truly have our own thoughts that when they come under scrutiny,
we can powerfully and confidently defend them as our

Our Great Nation Analysis
As we stand here today of this great nation, we celebrate, not the winning of sides, but celebrate the
unity of our great country. We have been in a storm of chaos, wanting change, fearing that we will
divide once again, but we will stand firm together to fight for peace and equality. For way too long,
have the capital of our great nation taken the rewards of our government while the people suffer the
cost. Washington has thrived, but the people do not get to share in its success. While we celebrate our

Weather In Life Of Pi
In literature, weather is a mechanism used to enhance and create mood. In the novel Life of Pi, it is
used successfully in this way. However, Yann Martel s use of weather in the story also portrays the
overwhelming commotion in Pi s subconscious as he undergoes 227 days at sea. The parallels between
the weather and Pi s journey of transcending his safety net, his normalcy, and his childhood are
evident throughout the novel. Weather is a representation of the wholehearted connection Pi has with
nature, as it often accurately represents his thoughts and emotions. Yann Martel uses weather as a
medium to encapsulate the reader and put them in the novel, but also to convey the dire circumstances
of Pi s mind.

Let s Put Pornography Back In The Closet Analysis
In the article Let s Put Pornography Back in the Closet, the writer tries to identify and define what
pornography and obscenity is. According to the text, feminists believe that pornography is anything
that aims to cause harm to the image of what it means to be a woman. It also includes any source that
depicts the female body being harmed in any way to please the viewer s sexual fantasies. Brownmiller
adds to the feminist definition by stating that when any person is being degraded or humiliated for the

In today s society things that may be considered obscene and pornographic are much more easily

reasons that the writer feels that there should be restrictions on what is allowed to be provided and

Pilgrims Progress Essay
Writing in first person or third person determines not only the pronouns, but how we perceive the
story. Often, first person creates more intimacy between the reader and the character. The unreliable
narrator is also most common in this perspective. Third person is less invasive and less limiting. In
third person, the narrator does not participate in the action. Oddly enough, Pilgrims Progress
communicates its narrative in multiple perspectives. Admittedly, any story that employs a first person
pronoun is in first person. However, the first person narrator is only there to remind us of the real
world. All the action in Pilgrims Progress happens through Christian s eyes. Christian s story occurs in
a dream. This clever trick enables John Bunyan to be as unspecific about time and place as he wishes.
Nevertheless, he fleshes out magnificent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This style makes the story fast paced, but it usually limits connections to the characters. This
dispassionate observer does not explain the character s feelings or thoughts. The writer communicates
only the essentials of what is happening. Despite this, Bunyan shows the feelings of the characters
through dialogue and body language. Letting readers interpret the characters emotions, makes the
story more relatable. The spectators observe the characters accomplishing these feats and have a
neutral view of the action. This projects the story like a screenplay. In limited point of view, readers
are confined to the character s perspective, but the readers are not in the characters head. It is more
common in Pilgrim s Progress than omniscient. Limited creates tighter narrative and allows for deeper
connection. It permits explaining of backstory, setting information, and more from the author. It tells
more than shows. It only appears when Bunyan can t vocalize the thoughts of Christian without
seeming forced. Usually, this is when Christian is reflecting his bad

when cigs = 20 is bwght in predicted birthweight due to smoking an extra packet of cigarettes per day
during pregnancy is 333.14 grams (approx. one third of a kilogram). To help gauge whether this
difference is practically large or small, this amount corresponds to 333.14 = 0.0965 (or 9.65%) of
average child birthweight in the sample. The 3450.7 magnitude of this is effect is practically large. (6)
Does cigs explain most of the variation in bwght ? Does the model in (1) provide a good explanation
of child birth weight ? Explain your reasoning. The R2 for the model is only 0.0167 so less than 2% of
the variation in bwght in the sample is explained by the model. Equivalently, over 98% of the
variation in bwght remains unexplained. As an explanation of the determinants of child birth weight,
this is not a good model. (7) Does the simple regression capture a causal relationship between the
child s birth weight and the mother s smoking habits ? Explain. For the regression model to capture a
causal relationship between mother s cigarette consumption and child birth weight, the critical
condition that must be satisfied is the Zero Conditional Mean (ZCM) assumption: E[u|cigs] = 0.
Factors not controlled for in the regression are in the error term, and these must be independent of cigs

Recruiting The Best While Maximizing Their Talent
Recruiting the Best While Maximizing Their Talent What do firms need to do in order to bring in the
most talented people (from anywhere) and make the fullest possible use of their abilities? America has
legitimate concerns over the growing war for talent. It has reached global proportions, as a number of
high skilled immigrants who were educated in this country are now embedded in key positions in
corporate America s workforce, and are being drawn back to their native countries. The fact of the
matter is that a considerable amount of immigrants come here for higher education. Half the
Americans who won Nobel Prizes were born abroad. More than half of the people with PhDs working
in America are immigrants. (The Economist, 2006) These people find themselves in corporate giants
like Sun Microsystems, Google, and Intel. When countries like China, actively try to attract back its
expats through various strategies, this brings the scenario of the brain drain to life. However, America
has downplayed this fear. McKinsey Global Institute conducted a study of the off shoring market and
concluded that the number of service jobs moving offshore is much lower than expected. It was feared
that jobs in services will follow manufacturing jobs that are now in the developing countries. Although
competing countries in Europe have begun to realize how it is important to retain talent, America has
yet to up its tempo. Today, immigration officials make it

Hippocampus Glucocorticoid Receptor (HPA)
The overall goal of this paper is to see how epigenomic programming is established and maintained
through behavioral programming, and whether or not it s modifiable or reversible later in life
(specifically adult, post mitotic tissues). The authors hypothesis is that maternal care such as pup
licking and grooming (LG) as well as arched back nursing (ABN) can affect DNA methylation of the
GR promotor region, exon 1 base 7 promoter, and that these effects can be sustained throughout
adulthood while being associated with differences in hippocampus glucocorticoid receptor (GR)
expression and Hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis (HPA) reactions to stress. The independent
variable in this experiment is the Trichostatin A (TSA) injection/infusion. Trichostatin A is a Histone
Deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor. It is made up of chemical compounds that interfere with gene
expression by removing the acetyl groups from the histones.
Starting with figure 1, the major question that the figure is attempting to answer is how LG ABN
maternal care affects cytosine methylation of the GR promotor and how CpG methylation in the GR
promotor region, exon 1 base 7 promoter differ between high and low LG ABN (maternal care)
groups. It is trying to figure out whether there is a causal relationship between LG ABN and DNA
methylation of the pups and whether or not timing of maternal care/age of the pups have anything to
do with the different levels of DNA methylation. There are both positive and negative control groups
for figure 1. The positive control is the group of offspring that received low amount of LG ABN from
their mothers and show high amounts of C methylation. The negative control is the group of offspring
that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Bioethical Dilemmas Of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Annie Brown Mr. Lipscomb AP Literature and Comp 12 April 2016 The Bioethical Dilemmas in Mary
Shelley s Frankenstein According to the Upfront magazine by the year 2017, the world may be facing
a real life Frankenstein. Physician Sergio Canavero claims that he can give paralyzed people or those
with cancer a new life by removing their heads and transplanting them onto healthy bodies donated by
brain dead patients (4). There are many problems with Canavero s claim: firstly, people believe
Canavero is trying to play God, secondly, the ethical problem of experimenting animals, and lastly, the
question of how the transplanted person would be treated by society. These ethical issues are the
principles issues of bioethics, which is the study the ethics of medical and biological research. While
bioethics is a recently new field, the principle issues have been around since the age of scientific
revolution. The years following the scientific revolution were filled with many writers whom wished
to warn society about advancing medical procedures. Among those writers, was young Mary
Wallstonecraft Shelley, who was born on 30 August 1797 in the Polygon, Somers Town, London.
Mary Shelly lived through many tragedies; her mother died when she was born, her husband, Percy
Shelley, was suicidal, she lost many of her children, and eventually her husband died when he went
out sailing. While her husband was alive, they traveled to Switzerland to meet the English poet,

Nucleic acid molecules which are to be analyzed are set upon a viscous medium, thegel, where an

the sugar phosphate backbone of the nucleic acid chain. The separation of these fragments is
accomplished by exploiting the mobilities with which different sized molecules are able to pass
through the gel. Longer molecules migrate more slowly because they experience more resistance
within the gel. The DNA fragments of different lengths are visualized using a fluorescent dye specific
for DNA, such asethidium bromide. The gel shows bands corresponding to different nucleic acid

I Am My Friend, Named Dakota
A year and a half ago I decided to end my relationship with not only my boyfriend at the time, but also
my best friend, named Dakota. We both went to the same high school and went on numerous double
dates but not with each other. However once we were single a mutual friend thought it would be a
good idea to finally hook us up, but I was afraid nothing was going to work out considering I was still
a senior in high school and he was a freshman in college. However I decided to take the chance and go
on a date, and to my surprise it was one of the best dates of my life. Everything between us clicked,
we had the same interest to similar personalities, and since that date we were irresistible. Dakota and I
were known as the power couple, my friends where jealous of our relationship and I could not be
happier. In my mind I really thought I found the person I was going to spend the rest of my life with,
and we were both ready for that commitment, since I received a promise ring from him stating that
were going to make it through college together, and then settle down. The first couple of months of
college were difficult for both of us, but we made it through by seeing one another every other week.
However it was not until spring semester of my freshman year when things started to change. I noticed
Dakota becoming more over protective, especially after I found a good group of friends who wanted
to go out every weekend and party. Due to this my feelings for him started to fade,

Essay Intelligence
Intlligence In society, people base their life on intelligence. They do everything possible to get ahead
in life. To get ahead, they cheat each other, back stab, and commit many sinful acts. Also, they educate
themselves so they are capable of doing whatever is required of them. Society is trying to always
make themselves smarter. Are they trying to change something that they have no control over though?
Intelligence is something that everybody has, but is something that is developed over time. The
development of intelligence has many items that play a factor. For instance, environment and heredity
both play a role in developing a person s I.Q. Each of us are born with intelligence (Lawler 15). With

For instance, a child that comes from an environment that is uncaring, unlovable, and abusive tends to
score lower on an I.Q. test. Put that same child into a different situation, by either adoption or foster
care, or just a change of parental support, and that child performance increases. I.Q. could be based on
a range of environments, or lowered by lack of positive environmental feedback (Loehlin, Lindzey,
and Spuhler 103). Without positive feedback a child gives up. He gives up because he feels like he is a
failure at what he is doing. While the main focus on a child s intelligence comes from the home, other
influences also play a role. Pinter stated By environmental influences we way mean very specific and
narrow changes or else those factors of home and school (94). At school, children learn reading,
writing, and arithmetic. In addition to classes, school offers a good place to fellowship with others.
During the fellowship, one is able to gain knowledge from other people. That fellowship though isn t
always a good thing. For example, suppose that everything the child hears throughout the day is not
true. Then, that child becomes ignorant to the truth. All this happens because the child is bombarded
with false information throughout the day. At some time the child will start believing that everything
he hears is true. With children balancing out each other s intelligence in conversation, the need for it to

Essay 3, Option 2
Pearl Cleage s novel, What Looks Like Crazy on an Ordinary Day gives a glimpse into the life of Ava
Johnson, a recently diagnosed, HIV positive, middle aged woman. Ava begins the novel as a single
woman in transition from a fast paced, close minded life in Atlanta, to a more open minded, life of
opportunity in San Francisco. The transition brings her to her hometown of Idlewild, Michigan to stay
with her sister for the summer. Ava s transition ends up evolving into a permanent new life for her.

This paralleled with the stigma of HIV and AIDs being diseases primarily linked to the gay
community, makes the choice an obvious one for someone looking to blend in and have the most
normal life possible with the disease. Ava even mentions the possibility of exploring bisexuality, I ve
even been thinking that when I get to San Francisco, I might be more open to the idea of having a
woman lover (102). Ava s decision to stay in Idlewild was not a choice she consciously made at a
single point in time. Rather, several factors over the summer went into convincing her that it was the
place she should be. Involvement with her sister Joyce and the Sewing Circus was one of those
factors. Working with the sewing circus gave the two women a hand in restoring the community that
had once been a thriving place to live that its citizens were proud of. Helping the woman in the
Sewing Circus gave the women a purpose and made them feel good about helping those that might
otherwise have no means to better themselves. This served as a way for Ava to take her mind off of her
disease and not let herself feel sorry about it. Joyce s decision to take over custody of Imani
strengthened Ava s ties to Idlewild. At first Ava had believed that a baby in the house was the last
thing that she wanted. I am still less than enthusiastic about spending the summer with a newborn
crack baby (49). Ava didn t hesitate to express that she herself had

out why we are hit so often. Texas is one of the hardest states hit by tornados. According to the
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, there are on average 155 tornados in Texas per

Horowitz et al. (2004) found interventions done to date did not benefit from sufficient data in which
potentially modifiable factors are responsible for suboptimal treatment, inadequate self management,
and adverse CHF outcomes. The researcher s perspective on the problem of self managing CHF came
from determining whether a patient understands and perception of CHF demonstrated the features of
the disease, which are important for participation in their own care. According to Polit and Beck
(2008), literature reviews vary in purpose and length in order to critically appraise the state of research
evidence. There are major steps which must be completed in order to properly analyze literature.
Literature review broadens the understanding of a research problem and summarizes the existing body
of knowledge related to the phenomenon of interest. Horowitz et al. (2004) reviewed different sources,
which provided a solid base for this study. The researchers utilized current studies and trials to provide
reliability and validity to their study. The researchers integrated the literature throughout the study,
highlighting clinical guidelines and current thoughts of best practice. Although the majority of
literature reviewed was pertinent and timely, there were several journal articles dating back 15 years,
which may render the information questionable to current

Aristotle s Four Main Causes Essay
To some the causes and effects of things are mutually exclusive, and coexistence with one another.
When observing specific equipment or even life, the question stands that there must be an account that
took place before such items ceased to exist. Particularly, Aristotle argues that each thing, whatever it
may be, will have causes, or types of explanatory factors by which that thing can be explained. The
significant knowledge of causes allows for specific accounts to be known. It s like questioning what
occurred first the chicken or the egg. Anything in life offers a question of cause; something must have
been in order to bring about the nature of today. These causes are apparent in answering everyday
questions, which in turn explains that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first causes of things are the Material cause: that from which, as a constituent present in it, a thing
comes to be. Material cause relates to the corporeal cause of a specific object (194b,24). The material
cause consequently transpires for the reason that the parts constituents as materials. Next, the
elucidation of the causes is a direct derivative from its own portions such as elements, components,
materials, establishing entire thing. Aristotle refers to bronze and silver as models of material cause;
which describes that the elements are the causes of a statue. So having bronze will ultimately lead one
to a statue. In referring to change the bronze transforms into the statue. Physically the statue must
undergo some process to change its current state into a statue. The material causes of things allow us
to function. For example the beds that we sleep on every day and the homes or dorms people walk into
are a material cause of some builder or manufactures. Aristotle wrote That we must acquire
knowledge, of the original causes since we say we know a thing whenever we think we know its
primary cause (983a, 24 16). Aristotle draws a discrepancy amongst potential and practicality. This is
directly correlated to the process of change and motion. Change can be described as an object taking
on a new form. The object has the potential to convert into something different, and change is actually
the potential of one form of matter to become another form of

How Did Technology Affect The Cold War
Technologies played an important role in our lives before and right now. The development of the
science and technology promoted the progress of the society. The wide spread of using electricity
boosted economy around the world; the invention of the telephone made people s communication
become easier; airplanes make people travel longer distances in shorter times. As same as other time
period in the history, during the Cold War, the great inventors from different countries invented better
weapons and things to make their country win the war. Those new weapons and technologies changed
the strategies used by the commanders, the way the soldiers fight, and the form of the war.
Technologies certainly affect the war.
The Cold War period was a time that a lot of countries needed to develop their science and technology.
They needed new weapons to win the war, and their commanders could not confine themselves with

  • 2. Journal Entry Reflection In last week s journal entry I stated that this week PVEPD would be conducting active shooter training, but the training is postponed for now. During this week s shifts, I finished the putting together the emergency operation plan binders, cleaned the briefing room, and went to the department s shooting range where I had the opportunity to shoot AR 15 and a Glock 22. I spent both Monday and Tuesday s shift at the shooting in the basement of the police department. The shooting range which is located underneath the department and can be accessed through the parking garage. There are two rooms in the basement one room is storage for the gun range and the other room is the actually shooting range. Each room requires a special type of key and passcode ... In the kitchen, I washed the dishes that were in the sink and made a fresh pot of coffee. I also wiped down the kitchen table and all the appliances in the kitchen. I also made sure to give the kitchen phone a good wipe down as well. Once the cleaning part was done I emptied both the kitchens and briefing trash cans in the dumpster ... • 4. Research Paper On Magnets Levitating is not only for magicians, but for magnets too. Scientist have been using magnetism to create levitation for years. Recently, they have advanced their technology and expanded their knowledge about magnetism and levitation and conformed them to be used in everyday life. Magnetic levitation can be broken down into so many different topics such as magnetism and levitation, but there is a much deeper meaning to magnetic levitation. A magnet is an object that has a magnetic field. It can attract heavy objects such as iron and steel. A magnet can be in many shapes and sizes. The word magnet came from the elderly Cretan shepherd, Magnes. He supposedly found a rock that had a strong magnetic force. In the rock was large amounts of lodestone. The most common magnet used today is the bar magnet. They can also be used in compasses. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Magnetic levitation uses the natural repelling nature of the poles that are of the same kind to control levitation. This can come in many different forms and all made differently. One way is permanent magnets, which is the easiest of all the forms because it does not require any outside material to make the levitation, but it is not very controllable. Magnetism is the main component in the levitation act. Magnetism has been around ever since Earth was created. It is the force that is generated by the motion of electrons within its atoms. Earth spins and has gravity because of magnetism. It is created within the processes inside of earth, the core. Earths core is made of iron and ore that is constantly in a spinning motion which forms a pure magnetic force. Magnetism also creates north and south poles that the earth spins. • 5. The Hypothesized Finnish Population Bottleneck The hypothesized Finnish population bottleneck is supported by archaeological evidence that shows the number of artifacts significantly decreased at roughly the same time as hypothesized. When taken together, the genetic and archaeological records suggest that there may have been a population bottleneck. The hypothesized population bottleneck circa 4000 BP (2000 BCE) has been increasingly researched over the past few decades, as genetic evidence has come to support the existing archaeological evidence for such an event. Recent genetic testing has shown that there is very low diversity on the Y chromosome, suggesting that the number of male ancestral lineages was small, especially compared to the rest of Europe. This is evidence for a population bottleneck that killed a large portion of the population at some point in the past. In addition, there are genetic differences between eastern and western Finland the presence of Finnish Disease Heritage, where certain genetic diseases are found in proportions different from the rest of the Europe, as is common in groups with decreased genetic diversity. Other arguments that explain the same evidence in other ways have been proposed and no consensus has been reached on which side is correct. The archaeological evidence is rooted in the number of artifacts found that can be dated to before and after the hypothesized population bottleneck. This research relies on the assumption that a higher number of artifacts dated to a certain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Sociological Imagination In Australian Society Use your sociological imagination to reflect on your position in Australian society today. What social factors have shaped who you are? (750 words) In this essay I will reflect upon how social factors such as gender and family life have influenced my position in Australian society. At the age of 13 my parents decided that I was old enough to catch the train into the city. When my brother reached this age my parents were more reluctant in allowing him the same privilege, according to them I was more mature so they trusted that I would be responsible. However, this opinion differed to other things we did when growing up such as going to parties and going out at nigh. My parents were hesitant and were always reluctant to let me go especially when I first started asking. At parties I was sent off with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My brother started going to parties at a younger age and the advice he was given was to stay away from alcohol and drugs and call when you want to be picked up . When I started going out with friends at night my parents were never comfortable unless they knew I was with a big group and that my male friends would also be there. Again, this differs from my brother s experience. This change in my parent s attitude towards my brother and myself demonstrate how gender plays such a strong role in how individuals are treated. These examples explore how two people can be in the same situation but are treated differently purely because one is female and one is male. The attitude my parents had towards my safety was reflected by the idea of the risks associated with being a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Fort Myers Descriptive Writing The almost deserted airport, the freezing cold plane ride, my noisy family; yes, we are definitely ready for a vacation! Hot Florida sun and a ocean that stretches as far as the eye can see were all awaiting us. The thrill of it all ran from the top of my head to the bottom of my flip flops that will surely be on the beach in no time. Looking out the window of the airplane with popping ears, we came into landing at the Fort Myers airport! The heavy luggage pulled my arms down while walking out of the airport to find a rental car. The Florida sun and a hot breeze blew on my face, instantly lightening my drowsy mood. Little did we know that we had to wait about 25 minutes before getting our car, and sitting directly in the sun with a sweatshirt and pants on was unpleasant. Honking the horns on both of the Jeeps we rented, we quickly threw our belongings in the trunk, hopped in the air conditioned vehicle, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was the day I went parasailing for the first time! I have always wanted to go and now I finally got the chance. Of course, we had to wait in an incredibly long line, but Dairy Queen fixed the problem. After waiting about 30 minutes it was my aunt and I s turn to go on the boat that would take us out to parasail. A few miles out into the open ocean later, and we arrived at a bigger boat that held the parasails. The clicks of the buckles around my waist boosted my adrenaline even higher than it already was. 3, 2, 1, goodbye! Off we went, the wind catching our parasail and gliding us up further and further in the air. Now, after getting up as high as 800 feet above the water, I got a little nervous. I thought we would be sitting on more of a seat, but all we were placed on were seat belts! Nevertheless, the views were breathtaking. I could see so much of Fort Myers and so much ocean below me. Lots of ideas have come up for trying to keep weapons out of schools but the idea of having metal detectors has stuck and on paper seems to be a viable option for schools but in real use they have lots of issues. One of the biggest problems with using metal detectors in public schools will be cost. Cost affects many different things to do with the metal detectors, two of the major factors being proper trained staff and paying for repairs. Another issue with metal detectors are they are slow, make kids late to class and also make kids dread going to school in the morning. There could be compromises made like alternative options like random checks or quick pat downs but getting rid of this style of security would be better all together. Metal detectors should not be used in schools because they make students late to class, cause anxiety and are too expensive to be used in public schools. Metal detectors are making kids tired and late to class because the process is so lengthy. Ms. Dunley, a teacher who works at a school where metal detectors are being used says She marks several people late everyday because they are being held up by the metal detector . The time that is being consumed by the metal detectors not only wastes class time but kids have to arrive hours before school to wait in line to get passed the metal ... The Musical, My Fair Lady Directed By George Cukor Critical Review This critical review is about the musical, My Fair Lady, directed by George Cukor based on the play Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw. This musical altered some of the scenes and added new ones. The basic storyline of the text is about a young flower girl that runs into a phonetics teacher who claims that he could sell her as a duchess. The flower girl, which is later known to be Eliza, takes up the offer and starts speech lessons with the teacher, Mr. Higgins. He coachers her night and day to prepare her for a race and an embassy ball where she will meet royalty. Mr. Higgins is also acquainted in the beginning with one of his respected colleagues who also specialize in phonetics, Colonel Pickering. Although, Higgins treats her as baggage he soon gets attached to her and her ways. Colonel Pickering however, treats her as a respectable lady. She has a great success at the ball but is not recognized for it, which disappoints her. She decides to run away to Mrs. Higgins house where she found by Higgins and Pickering. She organizes her thoughts with Higgins and says she will never come back to them but at the end of the movie, not the play, she comes back to Higgins and Pickering. The main play and musical is based off of a similar storyline which goes something like this: There is a young flower girl who has a cockney accent which prevents her from getting a nice high paying job. Medicine was advancing, the effects of the Enlightenment were still underway, and a new age of exploration occurred as those of Europe began to extend their hands across the world towards America. During these times the common folk changed and adapted many of their ideals, and suffered many hardships and heartaches. In this period, a man of Normandy named Gustave Flaubert caught many of these hardships within his writings. With words, thoughts, and crafted phrases, he showed what the common people of this period went through day by day. • 12. The Impact Of River Macroinvertebrates On The Chemical... Literature Review The main purpose of this literature review is to collate information on how river macroinvertebrates are collected and how the concentrations of phosphorus, nitrogen, ammonia or BOD in the water relate to the families of macroinvertebrates present. Different methods have been used to help collect and identify macroinvertebrates and monitor pollution levels. This review mainly focuses on the kick sampling technique for collecting macroinvertebrates. It then describes the methods that are used to collect the levels of ammonia, phosphorus, BOD and nitrogen. Foy et al (2001) wished to access the effectiveness of regulatory controls on farm pollution using chemical and biological indices of water quality and pollution statistics. The water quality was tested in 42 streams in the Colebrooke and Upper Bann catchments in Northern Ireland during 1990 1998. This was a large timescale therefore more results were collaborated. The method used to collect the samples of invertebrates was kick sampling, these samples were then taken back to the laboratory to identify them. Using the BMWP scoring system a score was then given to the macroinvertebrates, relating to how organic pollution had affected them, with 1 being tolerant and 10 being highly sensitive. To know the pollution statistics there was recorded incidents on farm pollution assessed between 1987 and 1997, this was from a relational farm pollution database. Sometimes we might wake up in a cold sweat at night and despair about ever truly having the answers. We joke around with them. We brush them off. We do anything but face them. We refuse to give them power over us. These are truly questions that need to be asked that we have to confront because only with sound answers will we be able to go forward in our lives meaningfully. But maybe it should be second guessed. Meno is the perfect example of what happens when we don t philosophize, or question. Meno goes out and gives grand speeches about virtue, all accumulations of what other people have told him like Gorgias, but doesn t truly understand the subject. When Socrates asks him to define virtue he can give examples but not an actual definition. Finally, Meno is rendered silent, and he realizes that he truly doesn t have an answer to give Socrates. He has never questioned himself or what he knows to be true, but has only had a bunch of unsupported opinions from what other people have told him. He comes across as uneducated, and ill informed, because he has never gone out to investigate for himself the true from the false. And he didn t even have true opinions on his side. Under philosophy, all these various sources come under the scrutiny of reason. Philosophy gets us to be proactive instead of simply reactive. We become the engines of our lives, instead of the cog in a wheel, moving at the pace of everyone else s opinions or beliefs, we spur our own thinking. Is what everyone else says about money, children, travel, or work really true? Philosophy engages us in asking whether a long held thought or belief is really logical on its own merit rather than simply saying that it must be correct on the merit of the person or group that makes it look so, like Meno. Recruiting The Best While Maximizing Their Talent Recruiting the Best While Maximizing Their Talent What do firms need to do in order to bring in the most talented people (from anywhere) and make the fullest possible use of their abilities? America has legitimate concerns over the growing war for talent. It has reached global proportions, as a number of high skilled immigrants who were educated in this country are now embedded in key positions in corporate America s workforce, and are being drawn back to their native countries. The fact of the matter is that a considerable amount of immigrants come here for higher education. Half the Americans who won Nobel Prizes were born abroad. Hippocampus Glucocorticoid Receptor (HPA) The overall goal of this paper is to see how epigenomic programming is established and maintained through behavioral programming, and whether or not it s modifiable or reversible later in life (specifically adult, post mitotic tissues). The authors hypothesis is that maternal care such as pup licking and grooming (LG) as well as arched back nursing (ABN) can affect DNA methylation of the GR promotor region, exon 1 base 7 promoter, and that these effects can be sustained throughout adulthood while being associated with differences in hippocampus glucocorticoid receptor (GR) expression and Hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis (HPA) reactions to stress. The independent variable in this experiment is the Trichostatin A (TSA) injection/infusion. Trichostatin A is a Histone Deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor. It is made up of chemical compounds that interfere with gene expression by removing the acetyl groups from the histones. Starting with figure 1, the major question that the figure is attempting to answer is how LG ABN maternal care affects cytosine methylation of the GR promotor and how CpG methylation in the GR promotor region, exon 1 base 7 promoter differ between high and low LG ABN (maternal care) groups. It is trying to figure out whether there is a causal relationship between LG ABN and DNA methylation of the pups and whether or not timing of maternal care/age of the pups have anything to do with the different levels of DNA methylation. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, a child that comes from an environment that is uncaring, unlovable, and abusive tends to score lower on an I.Q. test. Put that same child into a different situation, by either adoption or foster care, or just a change of parental support, and that child performance increases. I.Q. could be based on a range of environments, or lowered by lack of positive environmental feedback (Loehlin, Lindzey, and Spuhler 103). Without positive feedback a child gives up. He gives up because he feels like he is a failure at what he is doing. While the main focus on a child s intelligence comes from the home, other influences also play a role. Pinter stated By environmental influences we way mean very specific and narrow changes or else those factors of home and school (94). At school, children learn reading, writing, and arithmetic. In addition to classes, school offers a good place to fellowship with others. During the fellowship, one is able to gain knowledge from other people. That fellowship though isn t always a good thing. For example, suppose that everything the child hears throughout the day is not true. Then, that child becomes ignorant to the truth. All this happens because the child is bombarded with false information throughout the day. At some time the child will start believing that everything he hears is true. What Looks Like Crazy on an Ordinary Day Essay Jennifer Whitcroft WMS 487 01 Essay 3, Option 2 Pearl Cleage s novel, What Looks Like Crazy on an Ordinary Day gives a glimpse into the life of Ava Johnson, a recently diagnosed, HIV positive, middle aged woman. Ava begins the novel as a single woman in transition from a fast paced, close minded life in Atlanta, to a more open minded, life of opportunity in San Francisco. The transition brings her to her hometown of Idlewild, Michigan to stay with her sister for the summer. Ava s transition ends up evolving into a permanent new life for her. This paralleled with the stigma of HIV and AIDs being diseases primarily linked to the gay community, makes the choice an obvious one for someone looking to blend in and have the most normal life possible with the disease. Ava even mentions the possibility of exploring bisexuality, I ve even been thinking that when I get to San Francisco, I might be more open to the idea of having a woman lover (102). Ava s decision to stay in Idlewild was not a choice she consciously made at a single point in time. Rather, several factors over the summer went into convincing her that it was the place she should be. Involvement with her sister Joyce and the Sewing Circus was one of those factors. Working with the sewing circus gave the two women a hand in restoring the community that had once been a thriving place to live that its citizens were proud of. Helping the woman in the Sewing Circus gave the women a purpose and made them feel good about helping those that might otherwise have no means to better themselves. This served as a way for Ava to take her mind off of her disease and not let herself feel sorry about it. Joyce s decision to take over custody of Imani strengthened Ava s ties to Idlewild. At first Ava had believed that a baby in the house was the last thing that she wanted. I am still less than enthusiastic about spending the summer with a newborn crack baby (49). • 31. Texas Tornado Research Paper On March 28, 2000, our city of Fort Worth was hit by an F3 tornado. After hearing about tornados on the news year after year, I decided to write on the tornado that hit Fort Worth because it happened when I was a kid and I can recall how the buildings looked like for a while after the storm and how the downtown area has evolved over the years after the tornado. I also find it to be interesting in finding out why we are hit so often. Texas is one of the hardest states hit by tornados. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, there are on average 155 tornados in Texas per year since 1991 2010. This is an impressive number compared to other states. At 6:15 p.m., a devastating tornado hit the downtown area of Fort Worth, Arlington, and Grand Prairie areas. The tornado that struck downtown Fort Worth was an F2 tornado on the Fujita scale, but an F3 on the Enhanced Fujita scale. The thunderstorms that the tornado arose from brought flash floods, strong winds, and hail. The tornado funnel developed directly over the city, descended, and stayed on the ground for at least 15 min (Brewster, 2004). The path of the tornado was recorded and after examining the damage it was determined the tornado began its damage in the municipality of River Oaks where damage had been done to homes and Castleberry High School. The tornado continued its path crossing the Trinity River where it then took a turn at the intersection of West 6th street and University Dr. It then took on a eastern direction damaging more homes. The tornado continued its path toward downtown leaving destruction to the Cash America building, the Bank One tower, Calvary Cathedral and many other buildings. The tornado finally dissipated when it hit I 35, but its parent cell continued to cause damage to homes, trees, and fences (Wikipedia.org). Another thunderstorm system began to arise in Johnson county and made its way northeast ward to meet up with the parent cell from the Fort Worth tornado, this produced a second tornado that hit Arlington and Grand Prairie. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Horowitz et al. (2004) found interventions done to date did not benefit from sufficient data in which potentially modifiable factors are responsible for suboptimal treatment, inadequate self management, and adverse CHF outcomes. The researcher s perspective on the problem of self managing CHF came from determining whether a patient understands and perception of CHF demonstrated the features of the disease, which are important for participation in their own care. According to Polit and Beck (2008), literature reviews vary in purpose and length in order to critically appraise the state of research evidence. There are major steps which must be completed in order to properly analyze literature. Literature review broadens the understanding of a research problem and summarizes the existing body of knowledge related to the phenomenon of interest. Horowitz et al. (2004) reviewed different sources, which provided a solid base for this study. The researchers utilized current studies and trials to provide reliability and validity to their study. The researchers integrated the literature throughout the study, highlighting clinical guidelines and current thoughts of best practice. • 34. Aristotle s Four Main Causes Essay To some the causes and effects of things are mutually exclusive, and coexistence with one another. When observing specific equipment or even life, the question stands that there must be an account that took place before such items ceased to exist. Particularly, Aristotle argues that each thing, whatever it may be, will have causes, or types of explanatory factors by which that thing can be explained. The significant knowledge of causes allows for specific accounts to be known. It s like questioning what occurred first the chicken or the egg. Anything in life offers a question of cause; something must have been in order to bring about the nature of today. These causes are apparent in answering everyday questions, which in turn explains that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first causes of things are the Material cause: that from which, as a constituent present in it, a thing comes to be. Material cause relates to the corporeal cause of a specific object (194b,24). The material cause consequently transpires for the reason that the parts constituents as materials. Next, the elucidation of the causes is a direct derivative from its own portions such as elements, components, materials, establishing entire thing. Aristotle refers to bronze and silver as models of material cause; which describes that the elements are the causes of a statue. So having bronze will ultimately lead one to a statue. In referring to change the bronze transforms into the statue. Physically the statue must undergo some process to change its current state into a statue. The material causes of things allow us to function. For example the beds that we sleep on every day and the homes or dorms people walk into are a material cause of some builder or manufactures. Aristotle wrote That we must acquire knowledge, of the original causes since we say we know a thing whenever we think we know its primary cause (983a, 24 16). Aristotle draws a discrepancy amongst potential and practicality. This is directly correlated to the process of change and motion. Change can be described as an object taking on a new form. The object has the potential to convert into something different, and change is actually the potential of one form of matter to become another form of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was a special visit, because it was on the University of Colorado Boulder campus, our sister school! It was sort of like a small town, most of the buildings were separated by the trees. Naturally, the denominational affiliation is Roman Catholicism, from which they uphold beliefs and values of the Roman Catholic Church.
