Cardiac Arrest And The Effects Of Epinephrine Essay
Cardiac Arrest and The Effects of Epinephrine in Pre hospital Setting
Sudden cardiac arrest is a condition in which the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating.
When this occurs the blood flow stops to the brain and vital organs. Sudden cardiac arrest is not the
same as a heart attack or myocardial infarction. A heartattack is when the blood flow to part of the
heart is blocked.
Without early intervention on average 360,000 people out of the hospital succumb to cardiac arrest.
Cardiac arrest and sudden death account for 60 percent of all deaths from coronary artery disease
,(Bledsoe, Porter, Cherry, 2011,2007,2004, p. 1229)There are several causes of sudden cardiac
arrest. Most are caused by ventricular fibrillation. During ventricular fibrillation, the ventricles do
not beat normally. Instead they quiver rapidly and irregularly. When this occurs, the heart pumps
very little and blood does not get circulated throughout the body. Most of the cases found with
sudden cardiac death are related to undetected cardiovascular disease.( Sudden Cardiac Death,
2015, para. 2)Sudden cardiac arrest are immediate and drastic that includes sudden collapse, no
pulse, not breathing, and loss of consciousness. Four rhythms produce pulseless cardiac arrest:
ventricular fibrillation, rapid ventricular tachycardia, pulseless electrical activity and asystole. (
Circulation , 2005, p. IV 58)Other signs and symptoms that could occur prior to sudden cardiac
arrest, include fatigue,

Jane Kenyon Poem Analysis
In high school, I remember talking about the meaning of the poem we were reading, which was
called Leda and the Swan , and I remember thinking What the hell is this about. Poems usually
never make any sense to me, so I have always hated reading them. I never felt that I really
understood the actual meaning of the poems. Someone would start saying what they thoughtabout it
and I would just think How did you get that from this? The two poems I read were Otherwise , by
Jane Kenyon, and Hay for the Horses ,by Gary Snyder. I made sure to read them slowly and more
than once to try to really understand what the poem is about.
My reaction to the poem Otherwise was different after I read it a couple of times. In the poem, it
repeats the line, It might have been otherwise (Kenyon). The first time I read the poem I thought
she wanted her life to be different. I felt that she was explaining what she does everyday and that
she wanted to change things up, especially in the last line when it says, But one day, I know, it
will be otherwise. I started thinking about my life and when I leave to go to Michigan State in
the spring that there is going to be change that I can t wait for. I want change in my life, instead of
doing the same thing everyday and I felt that was what the poem was about. Then I read it a few
more times and the meaning of the poem became much more different.
The second and third time I read the poem my reaction was the opposite. I realized she doesn t
want her life to change; she is explaining what she does everyday because she wants every day to
be like that. It says, I ate cereal, sweet milk, ripe, flawless peach...All morning I did the work that
I love. When she describes the peach as flawless and that she loves her work, I saw it was more
about her realizing how good her life is and that she doesn t want those days to change.
The meaning of the last line that says, But one day, I know, it will be otherwise changed for me
and the feel of the poem changed as well. After finding out what the poem really was about, the
poem became sad for me instead of a more exciting feeling which I had the first time. It is almost
as if she knows something bad is going to happen and that she only

The Battle Of The Confederate Home Front
During the American Civil War, the Confederate home front faced many challenges as the war
progressed. While the soldiers of the Confederacy went off to fight in the war, daily life of the
Confederacy had to continue. The Confederate community of Richmond, Virginia is an example of
a Confederate community that had to continue with the grinds of everyday life. The Daily
Richmond Enquirer is a great source to use to understand the events and attitudes of daily life in
Richmond. During the month of October in 1862, there were three main attitudes that were being
expressed by the citizens of Richmond, Virginia. The first attitude was resentment towards the
North. The second was optimism about the Confederacy beating the Union and being a... Show

These arrests showed the villainy of the Union and their intimidation of unarmed citizens. The
second account was published on Oct. 14th. This article reported that the Daily Richmond Enquirer
had received a letter from an informant in Missouri. The letter, as quoted, stated that, In short, our
citizens are being murdered by hundreds, imprisoned by thousands and robbed and plundered of
their property by the hundreds of thousands, and this you may report as truth, and nothing but the
truth. All three of the detailed accounts by the daily had helped reinforce the already present
resentment that existed between the Union and the citizens of Richmond. They resented the North
because the Union was pillaging their fellow Southerners. They felt that they were being vandalized
and victimized by the North. The second attitude expressed by the citizens of Richmond was
optimism about the Confederacy beating the Union and being a recognized nation. The Daily
Richmond Enquirer had multiple articles about the stance of the European nations on Confederate
recognition. The Confederate home front was very optimistic that European nations would
recognize the Confederacy quickly. The home front knew that if the Confederacy was recognized
as a nation by the European powers, then the Union would also be forced to recognize them as
well. They also knew

What Are The Causes Of The Sixth Extinction
Imagine yourself heading to the grocery store to buy groceries. You head inside the small store and
look around for the milk in the coolers. Except there isn t any milk on those shelves. You continue
to look around for meat, eggs, and cheese. All gone. Of course, for now, this is just a simulation but
it could turn into a harsh reality faster than you think. For the past 200 years, human behavior
threatens to push our planet into the sixth mass extinctionof life through rapid deforestation,
pollution, over population, and many other deadly reasons; if not enough effort is put towards
stopping this massive extinction then the human race does not have much time left. With the mass
extinction on the rise, there will not be any meat, eggs, cheese, and milk on the shelves but we may
not been even around to take those products off of those shelves...
To further understand the sixth extinction, it would make sense to get an understanding of the past
five extinctions. The first mass extinction of life on Earth took place almost 440 million ... Show

The second, third, and fourth mass extinctions of life were all results of climate change (Eldredge

been spread far and wide from everything from a giant meteor to a volcanic eruption that ended
these dinosaurs. Besides the fifth extinction what do all of these extinctions have in common? They
all ended with massive climate change. What is happening on Earth right now? Well its massive

Analysis Of AMD And Intel
The CPU most determines how a PC performs, which is why finding the right computer
processor is essential for making a system upgrade or starting a new build. It is important to buy
a desktop processor that can handle the tasks you need your computer to perform. Equally as
critical are budget considerations; you want the best CPU performance for the dollar, and do not
want to pay for unneeded features. With hundreds of CPUs to choose from, options abound.
Understanding how CPU specifications and model numbers relate to performance will help you
make a proper processor comparison. Brands: AMD vs Intel When it comes to desktop CPUs,
consumers have two choices: AMD and Intel. In 2016, AMD is typically associated with budget
processors,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the old days of single core processing, frequency was really tied to performance the more hertz,
the faster your system. Today, as technology has moved to multi core processing, clock speed is
less of a performance indicator than other facets of a CPU. Where clock speed remains a factor
is when comparing CPUs that have otherwise similar specifications the same number of cores
and amount of cache memory, for instance. This is why CPU models of the same processor
family are organized by SKU in increments of operating frequency. You can filter CPUs by clock
speed in the Desktop Processor store. Multi Core CPUs Modern processors commonly have
several individual CPUs called cores built onto one die. Operating systems recognize each core
as its own separate CPU and yield a system performance boost when performing multiple tasks at
the same time. The physics is the same as having multiple CPUs in your system. Most if not all
mainstream desktop processors on the market are dual or quad core CPUs. Certain models of AMD
desktop processors have six or eight cores. Multiple cores help a computer work on several tasks at
the same time, or run complex applications like creative programs and analytical software. For
basic web browsing and office work, a dual core suffices most of the time. For running specialized
software, a quad core is likely the way to go. You can filter CPUs by number of cores in the

The Origins And Physics Of The CatapultWhen we think of catapults we usually imagine them
firing at castle walls during the medieval times, or standing in the background of a large army
clashing with another in an action movie. However, catapults have a long and intricate history that
twists and binds with our own, dating all the way back to 399 B.C. First documented by the Greek
historian, Diodorus Siculus, in the form of an early design for the Ballista (type of catapult).
Catapults were a staple for siege warfare all throughout history. The catapult was used by many
different cultures, notably the Greeks, Roman, and Chinese in siege warfare; also ... Show more

The physics concepts associated with them are projectile motion, energy, momentum, forces ,
speeds, and distances. The kinds of catapults all use the same theme of accumulated tension, but
acquire that tension in their own way, their own design. The Mangonel catapult for instance, is
what most of us think of as the traditional catapult. A large wooden device with four wheels and a
spoon that launches fireballs. The Mangonel stores energy much like a spring would, therefore, we
use the equation PEspring = 1/2kx^2. The tension in the ropes and arms of the catapult when
pulling on its long arm stores potential energy which is transformed into kinetic energy when fired
upon.(Melvin, Mangonel Physics of Catapults ) The speed and distance of the projectile depended
on how much force the catapult applied to the projectile, and the momentum depended on the mass
and the velocity of the projectile (dead diseased cow, or flaming

Symbolism In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery

included. Mr. Summers, the head of the organization, places everyone s name in a jar, including
children and family members. He will pull one name out and the person on the slip s family will

when reading it, but what message or specific choices might stick into people s brains, and how
can it be analyzed? Shirley Jackson, the author of The Lottery, utilizes imagery and symbolism to
express that society controls traditions and all traditions have their own consequences. When

Comparing Plato s And Aristotle s Speculations
Whether the situation involves a child and a parent, or a ruler and a peasant, the stipulation of
power is in pivotal question. The act of governing another can go from as lenient as free range
disregard to complete dominance. These ranges for imposing control changes the outcome of the
allowed contribution in its citizens. Domination over another is never justified, despite Plato s and
Aristotle s speculations, because it does not allow the fulfillment of the individualon a personal and
State level. The pinnacle of an individual means they are able to be the most sound personmentally,
physically, and emotionally onto others, themselves and the State. When they have attended to their
personal needs, they can also effectively and accurately attend to others and issues bigger than
themselves. The individual s fulfillment for themselves cannot be reached under complete control,
because they are not the best person they can be when their wants and needs aren t addressed.
Plato and Aristotle aim to outline a citizen that helps the State to run at its finest, but set their
basis under the wrong conditions. To look at justice in the soul, Plato used the bigger idea of the
State to compare it to an individual. From his reasoning, there s a strong relationship between
State and citizen and every person has a role that contributes to the bigger piece of a whole. Plato,
however, doesn t regard the individual s wants and needs, only the wants and needs of the State. In
his utopia,

Examples Of Reoccurring Motifs In Literature
There are many different motifs themes in literature, but some of them are reoccurring.
Examples of this are shown in Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson, The Mask of the Red
Death, by Edgar Allen Poe, and Pestilence, by Philip Freneau. Fever 1793, is about a young girl,
Mattie, who lives in Philadelphia during the time of yellow fever, The Mask Of The Red Death,
is about Prince Prospero, and how he tries to hide from a murderer and tries to escape death;
Pestilence is a poem written about the city Philadelphia during yellow fever. Some of the
reoccurring motifs are fear, visions of America, and science. To start off, one of the reoccurring
motifs is the idea of fear the theme that pertains to the motif, is fear is stronger than the feared.
Anderson has almost written her book around this idea, because... Show more content on

She is scared because she feels abandoned and alone, not because she has seen a dead body or
saw her mother order her to leave her alone. Poe has also demonstrated this idea of fear being
stronger than the feared in his book. In his short story it illustrates, All of these and security
were within. Without was the Red Death. People are not scared of a person with knives, if they
were, being a chef would be a horrendously bad economic decision as a career. What they do fear
is the thought of themselves getting murdered, or losing their loved ones. Freneau has
distinguished the theme and motif of fear in his poem. He has conveyed this by writing, Priests
retreating from their pulpits. People at this time had a tremendous amount of faith in the church,
so when they got scared so did they. Just like every other passage, the people are not scared of a
bunch of priests leaving their jobs, they fear the thought that not even Gods teachers are safe from
this disease, so since the priests are fleeing the city, the

Essay on Raphael Sanzio Inspired
It was once said by Josef Albers that, Any color subtracts its own hue from the colors which it
carries and therefore influences. An artist works upon people, places, and things that incite them to
express themselves. It is these things that lay the foundation for a masterpiece that goes on to
influence future artists. This is how the artist RaphaelSanzio came about being one of the best of
his time. Raphael took methods and ideas from his surrounding colleagues and then he would
combine them with his own personality to create some of the best works from his era. Raphael
Sanzio s work of the Italian High Renaissance era is the result of influences and incorporation of
techniques of MichelangeloBuonarroti, Pietro Perugino, and Leonardo... Show more content on

To make the work his own, Raphael would mix in his own personal sentiment into his work.
Without this touch, Raphael s work would simply be a copy of the work by Pietro Perugino. (
Raphael. ) Not only does Raphael s artwork simulate the paintings of Perugino but, it also channels
a strong Da Vinci influence with its pyramidal composition, contour, balance, and interplay of light
and dark (chiaroscuro) and sfumato (extremely fine, soft shading instead of line to delineate forms
and features). (Raphael Sanzio. ) Leonardo Da Vinci s inspiration on Raphael can be most
prominently seen in his well known series of Madonnas. One of the several techniques favorably
utilized by Da Vinci is pyramidal composition. Pyramidal composition is a device used to pull
the audiences eyes to view a painting from the top to the bottom rather than from left to right. In
pyramidal compositon the objects in the painting are enclosed in what can be noted as an
imaginary triangle. ( Renaissance Baroque Art. ) This technique can be easily and most
obviously seen in Sanzio s Madonna of Belvedere and The Canigiani Madonna. In Madonna of
Belvedere see figure 3 the Virgin Mary is the main structure of the triangle. In her hands she is
holding a child at her feet and is glancing at St. John. Because of the pyramidal composition, it
draws the viewers eyes to begin looking at the picture from Mary s head and work their way down
to her feet where the two children are seen. Then in The Canigiani

How Does Tim O Brien Use Anaphora In The Ghost Soldier
In The Ghost Soldiers vignette from The Things They Carried, Tim O Brien uses anaphora in the
form of repeating the word you to place the reader in his war experience, ultimately to portray how
war can transform any individual to become illusioned and rely on only the logic of their instincts.
When O Brien describes his understanding of fear after pulling several night guard duties in
Vietnam, he describes it to be where you think about dark closets, mad men, murderers under the
bed, all those childhood fears...You see ghosts. You blink and shake your head. Bullshit, you tell
yourself (205). To O Brien, the darkness can transform superficial horrors in daylight into real solid

O Brien may have believed it in the beginning, when he was still a greenie , but one exposure to
the real war environment can quickly change his mind. War is not like the movies, movies that
shows the perfect courageous good always defeating the obvious evil. It s impossible for a real
soldier to follow the footsteps of heroes in entertainment, and he wants to emphasize this point to
the readers: You re not human anymore. You re a shadow. You slip out of your own skin, like
molting, shedding your own history and your own future, or leaving behind everything you ever
were or wanted or believed in. You know you re about to die. And it s not a movie and you aren t
a hero and all you can do is whimper and wait (211). The emotions he feels at the time is hard to
put into words, and so he makes the reader try to experience it, just as he wants Bobby Jorgenson
to experience it. Because O Brien has accumulated familiarity with this irrational fear soldiers
experience, he feels like this is a punishment suitable in its notoriety for a new soldier like
Jorgenson, and would hopefully get back at the pain he had endured from the medic s failed aid to

Heroism, Magic and Retribution in Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit
A fantasy is an imaginary world where all things imaginable can be brought to life. J.R.R Tolkien
portrayed fantasy through his use of skilled craftsmanship and a vivid imagination, which was
presented in each piece of literature he wrote. In Tolkien s two stories The Hobbit and The Lord of
the Rings we see the theme of fantasy brought to life through three essential elements, heroism,
magic and retribution. Heroism is shown through the character s courage and bravery in situations
where conflict arises and this enables them to be seen in a new light. Magic is a form of
extraordinary power seemingly through a supernatural force; it is used in a combination of combat

As a child this character encountered Smaug for the first time while fleeing the ruination of their
city; now even though Bard was overcome with the fear that every mortal has when they are
near one of these tremendous beasts, he was determined to stand his ground due to the love he
had for their small town. He was able to accomplish this impossible task because a small thrush
perched on his shoulder and told him of the one weak spot of the dragon, the hollow of its left
breast. Bard then inflicted death upon the terrible Smaug with his last arrow and was nearly killed
himself by the tremendous weight of the beast in the process, but he jumped out of the way and
into the water just in the nick of time. With a shriek that deafened man, felled trees and split stone,
Smaug shot spouting into the air, turned over and crashed down from high in ruin. (229)
A character that displays the traits of heroism is one who overcomes the odds through the use of
unique and valuable qualities; this remains just as true in The Lord of the Rings as it does in
The Hobbit. One truly heroic act occurred when Gandalf the Great, determined to defend the
fellowship took on a Balrog, this huge, bat like source of evil stood on the bridge to freedom and
did battle with the poor mage. Gandalf, stricken with fear caused the bridge to collapse and with it
fell the Balrog. However, with one last effort

Geothermal Energy And Natural Energy
Just beneath your feet, lies an unimaginable amount of heat. Water in the Earth collects into very
hot pools, known as geothermal reservoirs. Scientists have discovered that we can harness
energy from this natural heat source and use it for our benefit. Electricity, agriculture,
aquaculture are just the basic ways that geothermal energy is used. There are also many creative
and helpful uses for it, such as in spas or thawing ice on roads. So what exactly is geothermal
energy and how does it work? The project we have carried out answers these exact questions. This
energy source is one of great worth, especially in our modern day.
The word Geothermal literally means heat from the earth . The Earth has 4 levels: crust, mantle,
outer core, and inner core. The crust acts as an insulator for the immense heat coming from
below which is an efficient universal resource. The next section, the mantle, begins at a depth of
1250 miles and is only semi molten. The third down, the outer core, starts at 2500 miles and is
completely liquid. Finally, the inner core is solid and is made of nickel and iron. It starts at a
depth of 4,000 miles and is 9,000 degrees fahrenheit.
(This is a picture of a fumarole, one example of the earth s thermal power).
There are many natural sources on the Earth that show the heat and power within the Earth:
geysers, hot springs, fumaroles, along fault lines, volcanoes, and mud pots, and that s not all. All of

Cruise Ships And Management Teams Of The Cruise
Introduction Vacationing is nothing new to many individuals around the world. While many
choose to travel to resorts for their vacations, many find excitement embarking on cruise ships
for multiple destinations and activities for their vacations. As one of the largest tourism outlets,
cruises are constantly changing with new routes and destinations for customers, with bringing
as many as 3000 on board passengers (Cite MANAGING CRUISE SHIPS). Cruise ships allow
passengers a wide variety of activities and leisure during their stay aboard and while docked.
With the boats stopping at numerous destinations in one week, each visit has pros and cons to the
general areas being visited. This paper will focus on the cons that occur from the widely
populated ships visiting ports in the Bahamas. More so, the problem being that these cruise ships
are bringing thousands of visitors weekly, yet are failing to support port destinations economically
which leaves the port locals and entrepreneurs suffering. Specifically this paper will look into the
cause of the issue, which is mostly the cruise ships and management teams of the cruise companies.
Further, this paper will explore the solution to how these cruise companies can better support the
port communities and aiding to the local environment. More so, having the ships promote and
advertise local recreational activities could be a possible solution. As well, what the local
entrepreneurs could be doing to appeal more directly to the

What Caused The Russian Revolution 1917
A revolution is a forcible overthrow of a government or social order in favor of a new system. There
have been many revolutions that occurred throughout history. The major changes a revolution can
make is the culture, economy, and politicians. Usually a response to overwhelming autocracy or
plutocracy. One of the most famous revolutions in historywas the Russian revolution.
The Russian revolution in 1905 was said to be a major factor contributing to the cause of both the
February and October revolution in 1917. In January 1905, Bloody Sunday created protest
nationwide and soldier mutinies. While in the chaos the St. Petersburg Soviet was formed. Then
the revolution of 1905 was crushed and the St.Petersburg Soviet council of workers were arrested.
All of this laid out the groundwork for the Petrograd Soviet and other revolutionary movements up
to 1917.
In 1917 there were two revolutions in Russia which led to the dismantle Tsarist autocracy and rise
of the soviet union. On March 1917 the February revolution took place in Russia on Petrograd
which is now St. Petersburg, the capital of Russia at the time. During the chaos, the Imperial

of it while it is not too late. Let s help each other to take care of it so that we can enjoy it forever.
Nature is everything which surround us and one of this is the flower. Flower is a part of a plant. It is
a reproductive organ that produces eggs and pollen grains. Many flower have brightly colored
petals and sweet fragrant which make them unique from the other living things. They produce
nectar that attracts insect, animals and human too. While the animals eat on the nectar, some
pollen grains stick on their bodies. When they move to another flower they carry the pollen and
help pollinate those flowers. The pollination by animals are more effectively than pollination by
the wind. Why? Because the animals directly move from flower to flower and not like in wind

Ethical Issues In Erin Brockovich
Erin Brockovich was a poor, jobless, single mother with three children. In the beginning of the
movie, her car was hit by a surgeon. When she goes to court, the surgeon s lawyer accuses her
lying and trying to steal money from the wealthy doctor. The lawyer uses Erin s status as a poor,
single, twice divorced mother in order to make the jury believe that she is lying. Furthermore, the
surgeon s lawyer talks down to her because she is a woman and dresses in tight, skimpy clothing.
The overarching problem in the movie was the contamination of the water in Hinkley, California.
The water was contaminated by a substance called chromium VI by the water company, PG E.
Chromium VI is highly toxic to human beings and the company, knowing how toxic it is, dumps it
into the water that the residents use. When Erin finds out about the chromium VI in the water, she
begins by bringing it to the attention of the families who may have been affected by it.
Regarding this, Erin takes an objectivist approach, knowing that the chromium levels are too high
and could potentially (and already did) cause life threatening diseases for the people of Hinkley.
The public s reaction was not exactly what she expected. Initially, some families seem skeptical and
even uncaring about the situation, but Erin is able to connect with the residents and gain their trust
and respect. This allows for them to truly begin questioning PG E s intentions. As for Erin gaining
the Hinkley residents trust, this can

The Importance Of Living A Healthy Lifestyle
Living healthy Living a healthy lifestyle is a crucial element in weight management. Learning and
implementing healthier alternatives can be used to combat the obesity epidemic as well as other
dangerous eating patterns. According to the National Institutes of Health about 68% of American
adults are overweight (Core Concepts 408). Over the past two decades, the prevalence of obesity
has doubled among adults in the United States, making it the second leading cause of preventable
death (Guzman 1). Binge eating, bulimia nervosa, and anorexia nervosaare also diseases that fall
under living a healthy lifestyle and is affecting 11 million Americans. Considering the risks of
reducing life expectancy, heart attacks, cancer, hypertension, arthritis and depression, it is a
wonder why the rate is growing instead of decreasing. Three important factors for adopting a
healthy lifestyle are your eating habits, physical exercise and emotions. The amount of eating
habits is one of the most important factors for weight management. Developing a diet or daily
food choices that you enjoy and that help maintain a healthy body composition (Core Concepts
421) is more effective in the long run because you re more willing to stick to it using the
principle of everything in moderation . Compared to dieting that restricts food choices.

Benefits Of Equal Pay In Sports
Ladies and gentleman (Pathos, direct address), can you imagine a world where men and women,
who work the same job, receive the same pay? Women should be given equal pay as men s
athletics because they have equal opportunities. As written in a legislation in 1972, it is stated that
No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be
denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity
receiving Federal financial assistance. (Ethos, appeal to audience) This statement proves that
women should not be excluded and that they in fact do have a right when it comes, not only to
sports, but to basic needs as well. Seeing as how women have proved themselves in the past
several decades, and proved to the world that they are much more than what people believe they
are. For example the US Women s national soccer team, has been seen more and more in the
news than ever before because of their accomplishments, and how much they have been winning.
The women put their heart and soul into every game and practice that they play. Imagine that
you are on a team that means the world to you and you are seen as one of the number one
players in the world. You play every game with heart and passion and never give anything less
than satisfactory. When it comes to the end of the day, after all of the hard work you put in and
give to the team and corporation, you are not given the equal amount of pay or respect

The Between Socrates And Meno
Meno was a student of Gorgias, and he has a long discussion with Socrates about what virtue is.
Socrates and Meno wonder if virtue can be taught, Meno proposes that it may be a result of practice
or an inherent trait, but before they can answer that question they first need to agree on what virtue
is. Meno makes multiple attempts at a description of virtueand Socrates points out potential
problems. A definition of virtue is not settled, which leads to the discussion about the problem of
learning. If neither or them know what virtue is then how will they know if they find it. Plato
describes this ongoing discussion between Socrates and Meno.
Meno s first attempt at the description of virtue is listing examples. The health of a man is the
same as that of a woman, is virtue the same for both as well? Meno states that there are certain
virtues for men, like managing public affairs, helping friends, harming enemies, and protecting
oneself. There are different virtues for women, managing the home, protecting possessions, and
being submissive to one s husband. There are also different virtues for children, slaves, the
elderly, and so on. The virtue of a man consists of managing his city well while the virtue of a
woman is managing her household well. It is agreed that both of these things need to be managed
moderately and justly. So both the men and women need justice and moderation in order to
achieve their virtue well. It is also decided that all men are good in the same way,

because it was set to maintain the environment s temperature and humidity at a certain number

interesting because I didn t know it was possible to test blood s coagulation ability. The lab

The Battle Of Britain Is Regarded As The Most Famous...
The Battle of Britain is regarded as the most famous military engagement of World War II. The fall
of France in June 1940 to Nazi Germany not only left Britain as the only European power working
actively against the Germans but also left them vulnerable to bombing campaigns launched from
Northern France, having only to travel twenty five miles across the English Channel to reach
targets in south east England1. The quick surrender of France allowed German forces to direct their
attention towards Britain. Although Hitler had publicly stated a desire to negotiate peace terms
with Britain, preparations had been made for an amphibious invasion of the British Isles,
codenamed Operation Sealion2. German High Command was aware of the fact that... Show more

The Battle of Britain marked a major turning point in the war, akin to the Battle of Moscow in
the east, as it was the first time the German advance had been stopped. Had Britain fallen to the
Third Reich during the summer of 1940, the repercussions would have been enormous. Hitler
would have completed his conquest of Europe; there would have been no possibility of an
invasion on the beaches of Normandy, enabling Hitler to dedicate more resources for Operation
Barbarossa, the invasion of the Soviet Union. The invention of radar, known as Radio Direction
Finding (RDF) at the time, by the Department of Scientific and Industrial research in 1934 initially
allowed aircraft to be detected at a distance of thirty eight miles. By 1937, improvements to RDF
had enabled it to see aircraft at a range of one hundred miles, complete with the bearing of enemy
aircraft4. The British recognized the potential of RDF to be used simultaneously with other
electronic and communication aids to provide an early detecting system. The development of an
early warning system was essential to the British war effort due to the length of the coastline being
so close to enemy occupied territory, with important commercial, industrial and military centres
well within the range of enemy aircraft5. An early warning system also had two distinct advantages
over traditional aircraft patrolling of the British coastline. It

Negative Effects Of School Lunches
School lunch is an important meal for kids that go to school everyday, but many people wonder
about the actual benefits of school lunch provided to kids. School lunch is meant to provide kids
the energy to push through the rest of the day and continue to work hard mentally. School lunch is
meant to fill a kid s empty stomach if they missed breakfast or are just hungry. Kids are always
advised to eat healthy and get all of their necessary nutrients everyday. Most kids don t often get

You may need to just put a little salt on something, they ll eat it (Mecia 1). I agree with that
statement so much because kids nowadays are likely to eat something sugary and salty rather than
something with less favor, like vegetables. I think this is a major problem in school lunches,
especially with all the the repetitive food choices and its nutrition values. You can t force picky
eaters to consume food they find unappealing (Mecia 1). I think a possible solution to helping
kids to eat school lunches is to provide balanced foods to them with maybe a little salt to
encourage them to eat it. For everyone, there is always a risk in what they eat. For kids, it s
what is in their school lunches. There has been many incidents in the past with school lunches.
In 1996, bacteria in spaghetti served at five schools in Sacramento, California, made 400
children sick (Abc News 1). In 1998, 1,200 students in seven states became ill after eating
burritos from a plant in Chicago (Abc News 1). Those infected kids had no idea what they were
being served at their own school. This is something most kids and even parents do not think about.
It can all be very concerning because no one is questioning what is actually in the school lunches.
The food inspection may not be enough. There can always be something that they missed. For most
people, food is a requirement to fulfill most

The Rise and Fall of the Roman and Islamic Civilizations
Early Rome began like many other early civilizations. Sometime between 1,500 and 1,000 B.C.E.
groups of warlike people, speaking a common language we refer to as Italic, began moving into
the Italian peninsula from across the Adriatic Sean. One of these peoples was the Latins. By 800
B.C.E. the Latins established Seven Hills near the Tiber River. Around this same time the Etruscans
moved into present day Italy. The Etruscans turned seven villages into the city of Rome ruled by a
monarchy. 509 B.C.E. the Romans overthrew the Etruscan king replacing the monarchy with a

The Roman Empire peaked under the rule of Trajan 98 117 CE. The Pax Romana: Piece and
Prosperity reigned for 100 years (96 180 CE). Some of the accomplishments of the time were
architectural domes, concrete used in the construction of buildings, arches, aqueducts, roads and
bridges, and a system of law. The fall of Rome was most likely caused by a combination of
internal and external pressures. One of the external pressures was the Germanic Goths who were
increasingly attacking the Northern frontier along the Danube River during the reign of Marcus
Aurelious 161 180 CE. Marcus Aurelious died of chicken pox in March of 180 CE and was
succeeded by his son Commodus. Commodus disliked the administrative component of being ruler

becoming a dictator, became feared and hated by the senate. His sister and conspirators attempted
assassination in 182, ten years later he was strangled in his tub. This demonstrates the political
unrest in the late period of Roman rule. By the 3rd Century plagues and increasing economic
autonomy in the vast empire made it unmanageable. Emperor Diocletion thought the way to save
the empire was to spit it into Eastern and Western halves. The Eastern Empire consisted of Anatolia,

By the end of this commercial, a box filled with the origami birds spills on the driveway. There
are a lot of birds that fall out, which is just solidifying the fact that this is a popular, heavily

will bring happiness to people. That being said, Extra presents a higher emotional level than
expected, it is no longer just a chewing gum, but it is now a way to bring families closer together.
The realism of the ad means buyers will have a stronger attachment to this product, since it is
heartfelt and relatable.
Another persuasive technique used, is the choice of colours, and their importance. This
advertisement always uses happy colours , some of the main ones include; light pinks, purples,
blues, whites and yellows. Using such light colours will keep the viewer in a content mindset,
throughout the commercial. Contrary to blacks and greys, which have a more depressing tone to

Theme Of Nostalgia In No Country For Old Men
No Country for Old Men is a novel that revolves heavily around the theme of nihilism and nostalgia.
Main characters, Sheriff Bell and Anton Chigurh represent this immensely throughout the novel.
Nihilism is a philosophy that emphasizes on the idea that all values are baseless and life is
meaningless. Nostalgia is a sentimental yearning affection for the past. In the novel, Anton Chigurh
represents nihilism and Sheriff Bell represents nostalgia. As conveyed in the title, there is no
longer a place for old men and old values in the new world. Sheriff Bell has fallen into a trap of
nostalgia and idealizing the past while rejecting the present. Anton Chigurh, on the other hand, is an
active nihilist in the new world.
Throughout the novel, Sheriff Bell, the protagonist, continually considers the contrast between
old ways and the new ways. He holds to a nostalgic view of the past, reminiscing about a time
where order and just ruled. He talks about a time where police officers didn t need to carry guns
and knew the people of their communities and kids were safe at school and on track to become
good citizens. The senseless violence he encounters, however, leads him to believe that the
country is heading toward havoc. He says that he thought [he d] never seen a person like that and
it got [him] to wonderin if maybe [the boy] was some new kind (McCarthy 2) and that the new
kind has another view of the world out there and other eyes to see it and that s where this is goin
(McCarthy 2).
Anton Chigurh, the antagonist of the novel, is the embodiment of this new kind . He is perceived
as a personification of evil. Chigurh lacks any trace of empathy and operates solely to fulfill his
personal aspirations. Throughout the novel, he has shown disregard for law and the value of
human life. He embodies this through many things, including with the use of one of his weapons to
kill people, a bolt gun, a tool used to slaughter cattle. He used this weapon to kill a man and steal
his car. He used the weapon to avoid the law, being that he would not be traced caught by the cops
because he is leaving nothing behind. Chigurh other weapon of choice he arms himself with is a
Remington semi auto shotgun, which he used to kill

Evaluation of a Social Psychological Theory of Aggression
One of the most influential approaches to aggression is the social learning theory approach, put

behaviour is learned. Albert Bandura believed that aggression is learned through a process called

He believed environmental experiences also had an influence on the social learning of violence in
children. He reported that individuals that lived in high crime rate areas were more likely to act
violently than those who lived in low crime areas. He also believed television was a source of
behaviour modelling. Today films and television shows illustrate violence graphically. Violence is
often expressed as an acceptable behaviour. Since aggression is a prominent feature of many
shows, children who have a high amount of exposure to the media may show a high degree of
hostility themselves in imitation of the aggression they have witnessed.
Bandura carried out a study on aggressive behaviour towards the Bobo doll. In the first stage of
the study, children who had observed an adult model attack a Bobo doll were divided into three
groups. Group 1 went straight into the playroom; Group 2 saw the model being rewarded for their
aggression against the doll, while group 3 saw the adult model punished. In the second stage of the
study, after the children had played with the doll, all the children were offered rewards to behave
as the adult model had done.
The results showed, in the first stage of the, group 3 children showed significantly less aggressive
behaviour towards the dolls than group 1 and 2. In the second stage of the study, there was no

Summary Of Brunelleschi s Dome
Throughout the book Brunelleschi s Dome, Filippo has to overcome others to make his ideas
become a reality. First he loses the bronze door competition to his competition Lorenzo. Then he
has to fight against the Opera del Duomo to allow his model to be used for the Dome. He
continued to fight for he designs with trying to flood Lucca, and building II Badalone, both being
fails. After those fails, and the Domes set backs, the Operabegan to lose faith in Filippo, but that
wouldn t stop him. He continued to be in charge of building the Dome, and later designing the
lanterns after having Antonio steal his ideas. Filippo had a problem with communicating to
others. He feared that they would steal his ideas and claim them as their own, so he never told
anyone anything. He keeps all his notes coded and only shared the very minimal with his friends.
This allowed him an upper hand above his competition. It made it difficult for others to reproduce
his work, let alone understand how he came up with the ideas he had, making much of his work a
mystery.
The authors aims were to educate the reader upon the history of the Dome and to show how it
was built, why it was an amazing feat, and why Filippo was an ingenious architecture. King
achieved his aims very well. Through out the book, he expressed the importance of Filippo and
everything that he did. King tells about how Filippo built and designed the Dome. He supported
the claim that Filippo was before his time, and that no one could duplicate his work; A proud
Florentine, Michelangelo claimed that he could equal it, Filippo s dome but never surprises it. In
fact, he did not even equal it... (Page 163)
King s writing was both fair and accurate. He seemed to have done lots of research, and written
only the facts that had been proven. When he did write anything that seemed a little exaggerated,
he would always source the statement making sure the reader knew that he was only stating what
someone else said, not the complete truth. King also shows both sides of the story. He gives all
characters an equal chance to prove themselves. As seen best with Lorenzo, King praises him first
with Lorenzo s doors, but then he expresses Lorenzo s incompetence towards the wooden

Strategic Customer Management And Solutions
For strategic customer management and solutions selling, a firm s entire core processes need to be
aligned and working collaboratively to create and deliver value to both the customer and the firm
as a whole.
Within Avaya marketing and sales are very separate functions with each focused on their own tasks
and objectives. This is evident from the funnels which are completely separate and identify no
overlap between the functions. It appears that each team has developed processes in isolation,
meaning that there is no alignment or collaboration between the groups.
One of the key hurdles standing in the way of effective demand generation is the leads generation
process. The case study highlights that the prospects from the marketing team were viewed in terms
of a set of criteria, however this criteria appears to be set by the marketing team and varied greatly
across different markets. This is in contract to the leads generated by the sales team who spent a lot
of time upfront assessing the attractiveness of an opportunity by really understanding the prospect
company, their interest level and how Avaya could provide a solution. This gap between the lead
qualification process results in the sales team spending considerable time requalifying any leads
from the marketing team to understand what the customers problem is and what an Avaya solution
would look like (this is not an efficient use of their time). In order to make strategic choices about
your customers, all relevant teams

Evolution Of A Evolutionary Theory
Evolution is descent with modification, a phrase Darwin used in proposing the at Earth s many
species are descendants of ancestral species that were different The power of evolution as a
unifying theory is its ability to explain and connect a vast array of observations about the living
world. Aristotle believed that life forms could be arranged on a scale of increasing complexity.
Each form of life, perfect and permanent, had its allotted space. Darwin argued that classification
should be based on evolutionary relationships Darwin used fossils, the remains or traces of
organisms from the past, to study and observe change over time. Paleontology is the study of these
fossils Darwin said that if geologic change results from slow, continuous actions rather than from
sudden events, then the Earth must be much older than what was previously thought. Lamarck
used two main principles already accepted to prove his evolutionary theory. The first was use and
disuse, the idea that parts of the body that are used extensively become larger and stronger. The
other was inheritance of acquired characteristics, which stated that an organism could pass these
modifications to its offspring. Lamarck s idea that organisms have an innate drive to become more
complex was rejected by Darwin. Darwin reasoned that over a long time, descent with modification
eventually led to the rich diversity we see today. Closely related species that are very similar due to
their common ancestor, until they

Policing And Anti-Plagiarism
Why Electronic Policing and Anti Plagiarism Software Should Be Used
College and high school students today have access to a vast amount of information on the internet.
We are no longer limited to the books in the library or outdated encyclopedias for research.
Information is in abundance and at our fingertips. Because of this, students find themselves easily
falling into plagiarism, copying and pasting data without properly citing sources. Some students
may pay to have their essay or research paper written for them. Therefore, it is good to have
students work checked by anti plagiarism software because of advanced technology and ease of
accessibility, the lowering of moral and ethical values of some students, and the basic lack of
knowledge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plagiarism has become a serious problem among high school and college students. A lot of this
could be that the attitudes and moral values of students have changed and a high percentage of
students do not worry about being caught. In a recent survey, it is reported that at least 28% of
students do not worry about the potential consequences of plagiarism ( Survey Reveals Unique
Insights to US Students Attitudes Towards Plagiarism ). Some students often claim they did not
know they were doing anything wrong, especially those who claimed to speak a language other
than English (Cross). Of course, with the endless amount of information available on the internet, a
student can easily educate themselves on the proper way to cite an essay. If a student does not
choose good morals and ethics when writing essays, the battle for plagiarism will continue. To
avoid further risk of detection, students will also use paid services that write essays. Even though
this method is hard to detect, a good teacher can notice changes in a student s writing style, which
will send a red flag (Cross). If students continue to lower their moral and ethical values, universities
will increase technology to detect plagiarism. Students should learn to write their own content and
develop their skills. Anti plagiarism software will help deter students from copying from others
work without citing (Graham Matheson and

Should Brahm Be Considered A Conservative Or Conservative...
A controversial topic in music history is the question: Should Brahms be considered a
conservative or progressive composer? It is a difficult question to answer, with many different
things to take into account. In this essay I will try and explore various points of view on this
topic, with reference to musical examples, and then come to a conclusion with which argument I
personally believe to be the truest of them all. Brahms was a composer at a time of great change in
the world of music. He was at the tipping point at which the classical era was coming to an end and
the romantic era was just beginning. The composers typically considered progressives were the
advocates of the Romantic Movement; the composers who were considered conservative wanted to

Brahms wanted to progress music further, but with it s foundations set strongly in the work of
the classical and baroque period composers. He wanted to, and he did, expand, develop, and
reinvigorate the classical style of music. Wagner, Liszt, and other composers were the beginning
of a new period in music. They revolutionised music and the progress they made has had an
everlasting effect. Just because Brahms was not part of this movement does not mean he did not
contribute to the progress of music. He developed Symphonies to a stage they had very rarely
seen before. His work influenced the development of future symphonies, and that is progress.
Brahms managed to be a progressive composer in a conservative form of music. So to say Brahms
was both a conservative and progressive composer is a valid opinion.
Throughout this essay I have explored the various different ways in which you can view Brahms: a
misunderstood progressive, a stubborn conservative, or perhaps a progressive in a style
unappreciated at the

Social Identity Essay On Fishing
As a female college student, I have many identities. Some identities change, others don t, but
either way, they all have something in common they are each known as our social identity. One
person can have many social identities, just and many people can share a social identity. This
phenomenon often creates a common ground between people who may seem completely
different. Social identities can be anything for a lover of a certain type of music, sport, activity,
or even just where these people are from. I have moved a lot through my years, but no matter
where I go, I can always find people who share some of my social identities, which aids in feeling
comfortable in a new place or situation.

I know this may sound harsh if you are not a hunter, but to hunters, it is more than just killing an
animal. It is retelling the stories of our ancestors, and providing us with the food God has provided
for us. When looking at types of hunting that take place, there are many different forms. The most
popular of which are deer hunting, squirrel hunting, turkey hunting, elk/moose hunting, and big
game hunting. Big game hunting is most often hunting done in other countries. Many times, it is
found on the continent of Africa, where people can big game hunt, where they hunt rhinos,
elephants, lions, and many other animals. Each type of hunting has certain people who love that
type more than the others. Often times, this itself is a big source of social identity within the
realm of hunters. An important note to make is how hunting is an ever decreasing part of our
lives. An article talks about this decline and mentions how From 1963 to 1967, the first years for
which Alabama has data, an average of more than 113,000 hunters harvested more than 1 million
rabbits a year. [And by the year of 2015] only 15,000 hunters harvested fewer than 100,000 rabbits.

Zoloft was first introduced to the United States in...
Zoloft was first introduced to the United States in 1980 s. Another name for Zoloft is sertraline
and is in a group of antidepressants called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. At first Zoloft
was made to treat major depressive disorder, but as the drug progressed over time it can now treat
panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric
disorder. Zoloft is the most commonly used antidepressant because it works extremely well, it is
safe, and its side effects are not as serious as other antidepressants. While manufactures say that
Zoloft is safe to take there have been many instances where people using this drug have had fatal
side effects. Starting off with the least serious side... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Zoloft can be taken with other drugs and will not have any synergistic effects. Furthermore there
are no antagonistic effects, when you take Zoloft there is no other drug that counteracts it that
will make you depressed. Zoloft is not necessarily an addictive drug if taken properly. If a person
takes the drug more than the prescription says and if taken at random times they can become
addicted. Other than that Zoloft is not an addictive drug, if users listen to their doctor when they
say how much to take mostly likely they will not become addicted. In some cases people who
take Zoloft become reliant on it because if they do not take it anymore they will fall back into
depression. When they become reliant they become addicted and it becomes extremely hard to
stop taking it. However these addictive effects in most cases are not physical but psychological
addicting because the drug is the only reason the user is staying normal. A treatment for Zoloft
addiction is that your doctor will begin to prescribe smaller doses over and long period of time
to get the user to become used to taking less. This process will continue until the patient is no
longer reliant on Zoloft. Zoloft is a great drug to use for patients with depression. Patients must
make sure to take the correct dosage and listen to their doctor to insure they do not get certain side
effects. Zoloft is a drug that is

  • 2. Cardiac Arrest And The Effects Of Epinephrine Essay Cardiac Arrest and The Effects of Epinephrine in Pre hospital Setting Sudden cardiac arrest is a condition in which the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating. When this occurs the blood flow stops to the brain and vital organs. Sudden cardiac arrest is not the same as a heart attack or myocardial infarction. A heartattack is when the blood flow to part of the heart is blocked. Without early intervention on average 360,000 people out of the hospital succumb to cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrest and sudden death account for 60 percent of all deaths from coronary artery disease ,(Bledsoe, Porter, Cherry, 2011,2007,2004, p. 1229)There are several causes of sudden cardiac arrest. Most are caused by ventricular fibrillation. During ventricular fibrillation, the ventricles do not beat normally. Instead they quiver rapidly and irregularly. When this occurs, the heart pumps very little and blood does not get circulated throughout the body. Most of the cases found with sudden cardiac death are related to undetected cardiovascular disease.( Sudden Cardiac Death, 2015, para. 2)Sudden cardiac arrest are immediate and drastic that includes sudden collapse, no pulse, not breathing, and loss of consciousness. Four rhythms produce pulseless cardiac arrest: ventricular fibrillation, rapid ventricular tachycardia, pulseless electrical activity and asystole. ( Circulation , 2005, p. IV 58)Other signs and symptoms that could occur prior to sudden cardiac arrest, include fatigue, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Jane Kenyon Poem Analysis In high school, I remember talking about the meaning of the poem we were reading, which was called Leda and the Swan , and I remember thinking What the hell is this about. Poems usually never make any sense to me, so I have always hated reading them. I never felt that I really understood the actual meaning of the poems. Someone would start saying what they thoughtabout it and I would just think How did you get that from this? The two poems I read were Otherwise , by Jane Kenyon, and Hay for the Horses ,by Gary Snyder. I made sure to read them slowly and more than once to try to really understand what the poem is about. My reaction to the poem Otherwise was different after I read it a couple of times. In the poem, it repeats the line, It might have been otherwise (Kenyon). The first time I read the poem I thought she wanted her life to be different. I felt that she was explaining what she does everyday and that she wanted to change things up, especially in the last line when it says, But one day, I know, it will be otherwise. I started thinking about my life and when I leave to go to Michigan State in the spring that there is going to be change that I can t wait for. I want change in my life, instead of doing the same thing everyday and I felt that was what the poem was about. Then I read it a few more times and the meaning of the poem became much more different. The second and third time I read the poem my reaction was the opposite. I realized she doesn t want her life to change; she is explaining what she does everyday because she wants every day to be like that. It says, I ate cereal, sweet milk, ripe, flawless peach...All morning I did the work that I love. When she describes the peach as flawless and that she loves her work, I saw it was more about her realizing how good her life is and that she doesn t want those days to change. The meaning of the last line that says, But one day, I know, it will be otherwise changed for me and the feel of the poem changed as well. After finding out what the poem really was about, the poem became sad for me instead of a more exciting feeling which I had the first time. It is almost as if she knows something bad is going to happen and that she only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Battle Of The Confederate Home Front During the American Civil War, the Confederate home front faced many challenges as the war progressed. While the soldiers of the Confederacy went off to fight in the war, daily life of the Confederacy had to continue. The Confederate community of Richmond, Virginia is an example of a Confederate community that had to continue with the grinds of everyday life. The Daily Richmond Enquirer is a great source to use to understand the events and attitudes of daily life in Richmond. During the month of October in 1862, there were three main attitudes that were being expressed by the citizens of Richmond, Virginia. The first attitude was resentment towards the North. The second was optimism about the Confederacy beating the Union and being a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These arrests showed the villainy of the Union and their intimidation of unarmed citizens. The second account was published on Oct. 14th. This article reported that the Daily Richmond Enquirer had received a letter from an informant in Missouri. The letter, as quoted, stated that, In short, our citizens are being murdered by hundreds, imprisoned by thousands and robbed and plundered of their property by the hundreds of thousands, and this you may report as truth, and nothing but the truth. All three of the detailed accounts by the daily had helped reinforce the already present resentment that existed between the Union and the citizens of Richmond. They resented the North because the Union was pillaging their fellow Southerners. They felt that they were being vandalized and victimized by the North. The second attitude expressed by the citizens of Richmond was optimism about the Confederacy beating the Union and being a recognized nation. The Daily Richmond Enquirer had multiple articles about the stance of the European nations on Confederate recognition. The Confederate home front was very optimistic that European nations would recognize the Confederacy quickly. The home front knew that if the Confederacy was recognized as a nation by the European powers, then the Union would also be forced to recognize them as well. They also knew ... Except there isn t any milk on those shelves. You continue to look around for meat, eggs, and cheese. All gone. Of course, for now, this is just a simulation but it could turn into a harsh reality faster than you think. For the past 200 years, human behavior threatens to push our planet into the sixth mass extinctionof life through rapid deforestation, pollution, over population, and many other deadly reasons; if not enough effort is put towards stopping this massive extinction then the human race does not have much time left. With the mass extinction on the rise, there will not be any meat, eggs, cheese, and milk on the shelves but we may not been even around to take those products off of those shelves... Besides the fifth extinction what do all of these extinctions have in common? They all ended with massive climate change. What is happening on Earth right now? Well its massive climate change... • 6. Analysis Of AMD And Intel The CPU most determines how a PC performs, which is why finding the right computer processor is essential for making a system upgrade or starting a new build. It is important to buy a desktop processor that can handle the tasks you need your computer to perform. Equally as critical are budget considerations; you want the best CPU performance for the dollar, and do not want to pay for unneeded features. With hundreds of CPUs to choose from, options abound. Understanding how CPU specifications and model numbers relate to performance will help you make a proper processor comparison. Brands: AMD vs Intel When it comes to desktop CPUs, consumers have two choices: AMD and Intel. In 2016, AMD is typically associated with budget processors,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the old days of single core processing, frequency was really tied to performance the more hertz, the faster your system. Today, as technology has moved to multi core processing, clock speed is less of a performance indicator than other facets of a CPU. Where clock speed remains a factor is when comparing CPUs that have otherwise similar specifications the same number of cores and amount of cache memory, for instance. This is why CPU models of the same processor family are organized by SKU in increments of operating frequency. You can filter CPUs by clock speed in the Desktop Processor store. Multi Core CPUs Modern processors commonly have several individual CPUs called cores built onto one die. Operating systems recognize each core as its own separate CPU and yield a system performance boost when performing multiple tasks at the same time. The physics is the same as having multiple CPUs in your system. Most if not all mainstream desktop processors on the market are dual or quad core CPUs. Certain models of AMD desktop processors have six or eight cores. Multiple cores help a computer work on several tasks at the same time, or run complex applications like creative programs and analytical software. For basic web browsing and office work, a dual core suffices most of the time. For running specialized software, a quad core is likely the way to go. You can filter CPUs by number of cores in the Desktop Processor store. Cache Memory Cache memory is what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

JonathanPeriod 4 23 February 2017Busch 1 The Origins And Physics Of The CatapultWhen we think of catapults we usually imagine them firing at castle walls during the medieval times, or standing in the background of a large army clashing with another in an action movie. However, catapults have a long and intricate history that twists and binds with our own, dating all the way back to 399 B.C. First documented by the Greek historian, Diodorus Siculus, in the form of an early design for the Ballista (type of catapult). Catapults were a staple for siege warfare all throughout history. The physics concepts associated with them are projectile motion, energy, momentum, forces , speeds, and distances. The kinds of catapults all use the same theme of accumulated tension, but acquire that tension in their own way, their own design. The Mangonel stores energy much like a spring would, therefore, we use the equation PEspring = 1/2kx^2. The tension in the ropes and arms of the catapult when pulling on its long arm stores potential energy which is transformed into kinetic energy when fired upon.(Melvin, Mangonel Physics of Catapults ) The speed and distance of the projectile depended on how much force the catapult applied to the projectile, and the momentum depended on the mass and the velocity of the projectile (dead diseased cow, or flaming ... • 12. Comparing Plato s And Aristotle s Speculations Whether the situation involves a child and a parent, or a ruler and a peasant, the stipulation of power is in pivotal question. The act of governing another can go from as lenient as free range disregard to complete dominance. These ranges for imposing control changes the outcome of the allowed contribution in its citizens. Domination over another is never justified, despite Plato s and Aristotle s speculations, because it does not allow the fulfillment of the individualon a personal and State level. The pinnacle of an individual means they are able to be the most sound personmentally, physically, and emotionally onto others, themselves and the State. When they have attended to their personal needs, they can also effectively and accurately attend to others and issues bigger than themselves. The individual s fulfillment for themselves cannot be reached under complete control, because they are not the best person they can be when their wants and needs aren t addressed. Plato and Aristotle aim to outline a citizen that helps the State to run at its finest, but set their basis under the wrong conditions. To look at justice in the soul, Plato used the bigger idea of the State to compare it to an individual. From his reasoning, there s a strong relationship between State and citizen and every person has a role that contributes to the bigger piece of a whole. Plato, however, doesn t regard the individual s wants and needs, only the wants and needs of the State. In his utopia, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Examples Of Reoccurring Motifs In Literature There are many different motifs themes in literature, but some of them are reoccurring. Examples of this are shown in Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson, The Mask of the Red Death, by Edgar Allen Poe, and Pestilence, by Philip Freneau. Fever 1793, is about a young girl, Mattie, who lives in Philadelphia during the time of yellow fever, The Mask Of The Red Death, is about Prince Prospero, and how he tries to hide from a murderer and tries to escape death; Pestilence is a poem written about the city Philadelphia during yellow fever. Some of the reoccurring motifs are fear, visions of America, and science. To start off, one of the reoccurring motifs is the idea of fear the theme that pertains to the motif, is fear is stronger than the feared. Anderson has almost written her book around this idea, because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She is scared because she feels abandoned and alone, not because she has seen a dead body or saw her mother order her to leave her alone. Poe has also demonstrated this idea of fear being stronger than the feared in his book. In his short story it illustrates, All of these and security were within. Without was the Red Death. People are not scared of a person with knives, if they were, being a chef would be a horrendously bad economic decision as a career. What they do fear is the thought of themselves getting murdered, or losing their loved ones. Freneau has distinguished the theme and motif of fear in his poem. He has conveyed this by writing, Priests retreating from their pulpits. People at this time had a tremendous amount of faith in the church, so when they got scared so did they. Just like every other passage, the people are not scared of a bunch of priests leaving their jobs, they fear the thought that not even Gods teachers are safe from this disease, so since the priests are fleeing the city, the ... • 14. Essay on Raphael Sanzio Inspired It was once said by Josef Albers that, Any color subtracts its own hue from the colors which it carries and therefore influences. An artist works upon people, places, and things that incite them to express themselves. It is these things that lay the foundation for a masterpiece that goes on to influence future artists. This is how the artist RaphaelSanzio came about being one of the best of his time. Raphael took methods and ideas from his surrounding colleagues and then he would combine them with his own personality to create some of the best works from his era. Raphael Sanzio s work of the Italian High Renaissance era is the result of influences and incorporation of techniques of MichelangeloBuonarroti, Pietro Perugino, and Leonardo... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To make the work his own, Raphael would mix in his own personal sentiment into his work. Without this touch, Raphael s work would simply be a copy of the work by Pietro Perugino. ( Raphael. ) Not only does Raphael s artwork simulate the paintings of Perugino but, it also channels a strong Da Vinci influence with its pyramidal composition, contour, balance, and interplay of light and dark (chiaroscuro) and sfumato (extremely fine, soft shading instead of line to delineate forms and features). (Raphael Sanzio. ) Leonardo Da Vinci s inspiration on Raphael can be most prominently seen in his well known series of Madonnas. One of the several techniques favorably utilized by Da Vinci is pyramidal composition. Pyramidal composition is a device used to pull the audiences eyes to view a painting from the top to the bottom rather than from left to right. In pyramidal compositon the objects in the painting are enclosed in what can be noted as an imaginary triangle. ( Renaissance Baroque Art. ) This technique can be easily and most obviously seen in Sanzio s Madonna of Belvedere and The Canigiani Madonna. In Madonna of Belvedere see figure 3 the Virgin Mary is the main structure of the triangle. In her hands she is holding a child at her feet and is glancing at St. John. Because of the pyramidal composition, it draws the viewers eyes to begin looking at the picture from Mary s head and work their way down to her feet where the two children are seen. O Brien may have believed it in the beginning, when he was still a greenie , but one exposure to the real war environment can quickly change his mind. War is not like the movies, movies that shows the perfect courageous good always defeating the obvious evil. It s impossible for a real soldier to follow the footsteps of heroes in entertainment, and he wants to emphasize this point to the readers: You re not human anymore. You re a shadow. You slip out of your own skin, like molting, shedding your own history and your own future, or leaving behind everything you ever were or wanted or believed in. You know you re about to die. And it s not a movie and you aren t a hero and all you can do is whimper and wait (211). The emotions he feels at the time is hard to put into words, and so he makes the reader try to experience it, just as he wants Bobby Jorgenson to experience it. Because O Brien has accumulated familiarity with this irrational fear soldiers experience, he feels like this is a punishment suitable in its notoriety for a new soldier like Jorgenson, and would hopefully get back at the pain he had endured from the medic s failed aid to his gunshot ... Heroism, Magic and Retribution in Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit A fantasy is an imaginary world where all things imaginable can be brought to life. J.R.R Tolkien portrayed fantasy through his use of skilled craftsmanship and a vivid imagination, which was presented in each piece of literature he wrote. In Tolkien s two stories The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings we see the theme of fantasy brought to life through three essential elements, heroism, magic and retribution. Heroism is shown through the character s courage and bravery in situations where conflict arises and this enables them to be seen in a new light. He was able to accomplish this impossible task because a small thrush perched on his shoulder and told him of the one weak spot of the dragon, the hollow of its left breast. Bard then inflicted death upon the terrible Smaug with his last arrow and was nearly killed himself by the tremendous weight of the beast in the process, but he jumped out of the way and into the water just in the nick of time. With a shriek that deafened man, felled trees and split stone, Smaug shot spouting into the air, turned over and crashed down from high in ruin. One truly heroic act occurred when Gandalf the Great, determined to defend the fellowship took on a Balrog, this huge, bat like source of evil stood on the bridge to freedom and did battle with the poor mage. • 17. Geothermal Energy And Natural Energy Just beneath your feet, lies an unimaginable amount of heat. Water in the Earth collects into very hot pools, known as geothermal reservoirs. Scientists have discovered that we can harness energy from this natural heat source and use it for our benefit. Electricity, agriculture, aquaculture are just the basic ways that geothermal energy is used. There are also many creative and helpful uses for it, such as in spas or thawing ice on roads. So what exactly is geothermal energy and how does it work? The project we have carried out answers these exact questions. This energy source is one of great worth, especially in our modern day. The word Geothermal literally means heat from the earth . The Earth has 4 levels: crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core. The crust acts as an insulator for the immense heat coming from below which is an efficient universal resource. The next section, the mantle, begins at a depth of 1250 miles and is only semi molten. The third down, the outer core, starts at 2500 miles and is completely liquid. Finally, the inner core is solid and is made of nickel and iron. It starts at a depth of 4,000 miles and is 9,000 degrees fahrenheit. (This is a picture of a fumarole, one example of the earth s thermal power). There are many natural sources on the Earth that show the heat and power within the Earth: geysers, hot springs, fumaroles, along fault lines, volcanoes, and mud pots, and that s not all. The lawyer uses Erin s status as a poor, single, twice divorced mother in order to make the jury believe that she is lying. Furthermore, the surgeon s lawyer talks down to her because she is a woman and dresses in tight, skimpy clothing. Chromium VI is highly toxic to human beings and the company, knowing how toxic it is, dumps it into the water that the residents use. When Erin finds out about the chromium VI in the water, she begins by bringing it to the attention of the families who may have been affected by it. Regarding this, Erin takes an objectivist approach, knowing that the chromium levels are too high and could potentially (and already did) cause life threatening diseases for the people of Hinkley. The public s reaction was not exactly what she expected. • 26. The Between Socrates And Meno Meno was a student of Gorgias, and he has a long discussion with Socrates about what virtue is. Socrates and Meno wonder if virtue can be taught, Meno proposes that it may be a result of practice or an inherent trait, but before they can answer that question they first need to agree on what virtue is. Meno makes multiple attempts at a description of virtueand Socrates points out potential problems. A definition of virtue is not settled, which leads to the discussion about the problem of learning. If neither or them know what virtue is then how will they know if they find it. Plato describes this ongoing discussion between Socrates and Meno. Meno s first attempt at the description of virtue is listing examples. The health of a man is the same as that of a woman, is virtue the same for both as well? Meno states that there are certain virtues for men, like managing public affairs, helping friends, harming enemies, and protecting oneself. There are different virtues for women, managing the home, protecting possessions, and being submissive to one s husband. There are also different virtues for children, slaves, the elderly, and so on. The virtue of a man consists of managing his city well while the virtue of a woman is managing her household well. It is agreed that both of these things need to be managed moderately and justly. Had Britain fallen to the Third Reich during the summer of 1940, the repercussions would have been enormous. Hitler would have completed his conquest of Europe; there would have been no possibility of an invasion on the beaches of Normandy, enabling Hitler to dedicate more resources for Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of the Soviet Union. The invention of radar, known as Radio Direction Finding (RDF) at the time, by the Department of Scientific and Industrial research in 1934 initially allowed aircraft to be detected at a distance of thirty eight miles. Main characters, Sheriff Bell and Anton Chigurh represent this immensely throughout the novel. Nihilism is a philosophy that emphasizes on the idea that all values are baseless and life is meaningless. Nostalgia is a sentimental yearning affection for the past. In the novel, Anton Chigurh represents nihilism and Sheriff Bell represents nostalgia. As conveyed in the title, there is no longer a place for old men and old values in the new world. Sheriff Bell has fallen into a trap of nostalgia and idealizing the past while rejecting the present. Anton Chigurh, on the other hand, is an active nihilist in the new world. Throughout the novel, Sheriff Bell, the protagonist, continually considers the contrast between old ways and the new ways. He holds to a nostalgic view of the past, reminiscing about a time where order and just ruled. He talks about a time where police officers didn t need to carry guns and knew the people of their communities and kids were safe at school and on track to become good citizens. The senseless violence he encounters, however, leads him to believe that the country is heading toward havoc. He says that he thought [he d] never seen a person like that and it got [him] to wonderin if maybe [the boy] was some new kind (McCarthy 2) and that the new kind has another view of the world out there and other eyes to see it and that s where this is goin (McCarthy 2). Anton Chigurh, the antagonist of the novel, is the embodiment of this new kind . He is perceived as a personification of evil. Chigurh lacks any trace of empathy and operates solely to fulfill his personal aspirations. Throughout the novel, he has shown disregard for law and the value of human life. He embodies this through many things, including with the use of one of his weapons to kill people, a bolt gun, a tool used to slaughter cattle. He used this weapon to kill a man and steal his car. He used the weapon to avoid the law, being that he would not be traced caught by the cops because he is leaving nothing behind. • 40. Evaluation of a Social Psychological Theory of Aggression... Evaluation of a Social Psychological Theory of Aggression One of the most influential approaches to aggression is the social learning theory approach, put forward by Albert Bandura. According to this approach, most behaviour including aggressive behaviour is learned. Albert Bandura believed that aggression is learned through a process called behaviour modelling. He argued that individuals, especially children learn aggressive responses from observing others, either personality or through the media and environment. He stated that many individuals believed that aggression would produce reinforcements. These reinforcements can formulate into reduction of tension, gaining financial rewards, or gaining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He believed environmental experiences also had an influence on the social learning of violence in children. He reported that individuals that lived in high crime rate areas were more likely to act violently than those who lived in low crime areas. He also believed television was a source of behaviour modelling. Today films and television shows illustrate violence graphically. Violence is often expressed as an acceptable behaviour. Since aggression is a prominent feature of many shows, children who have a high amount of exposure to the media may show a high degree of hostility themselves in imitation of the aggression they have witnessed. Bandura carried out a study on aggressive behaviour towards the Bobo doll. In the first stage of the study, children who had observed an adult model attack a Bobo doll were divided into three groups. Group 1 went straight into the playroom; Group 2 saw the model being rewarded for their aggression against the doll, while group 3 saw the adult model punished. In the second stage of the study, after the children had played with the doll, all the children were offered rewards to behave as the adult model had done. The results showed, in the first stage of the, group 3 children showed significantly less aggressive behaviour towards the dolls than group 1 and 2. First he loses the bronze door competition to his competition Lorenzo. Then he has to fight against the Opera del Duomo to allow his model to be used for the Dome. He continued to fight for he designs with trying to flood Lucca, and building II Badalone, both being fails. After those fails, and the Domes set backs, the Operabegan to lose faith in Filippo, but that wouldn t stop him. He continued to be in charge of building the Dome, and later designing the lanterns after having Antonio steal his ideas. Filippo had a problem with communicating to others. He feared that they would steal his ideas and claim them as their own, so he never told anyone anything. He keeps all his notes coded and only shared the very minimal with his friends. This allowed him an upper hand above his competition. It made it difficult for others to reproduce his work, let alone understand how he came up with the ideas he had, making much of his work a mystery. The authors aims were to educate the reader upon the history of the Dome and to show how it was built, why it was an amazing feat, and why Filippo was an ingenious architecture. King achieved his aims very well. Through out the book, he expressed the importance of Filippo and everything that he did. King tells about how Filippo built and designed the Dome. He supported the claim that Filippo was before his time, and that no one could duplicate his work; A proud Florentine, Michelangelo claimed that he could equal it, Filippo s dome but never surprises it. In fact, he did not even equal it... (Page 163) King s writing was both fair and accurate. He seemed to have done lots of research, and written only the facts that had been proven. When he did write anything that seemed a little exaggerated, he would always source the statement making sure the reader knew that he was only stating what someone else said, not the complete truth. King also shows both sides of the story. He gives all characters an equal chance to prove themselves. As seen best with Lorenzo, King praises him first with Lorenzo s doors, but then he expresses Lorenzo s incompetence towards the wooden ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Strategic Customer Management And Solutions For strategic customer management and solutions selling, a firm s entire core processes need to be aligned and working collaboratively to create and deliver value to both the customer and the firm as a whole. Within Avaya marketing and sales are very separate functions with each focused on their own tasks and objectives. This is evident from the funnels which are completely separate and identify no overlap between the functions. It appears that each team has developed processes in isolation, meaning that there is no alignment or collaboration between the groups. One of the key hurdles standing in the way of effective demand generation is the leads generation process. The case study highlights that the prospects from the marketing team were viewed in terms of a set of criteria, however this criteria appears to be set by the marketing team and varied greatly across different markets. This is in contract to the leads generated by the sales team who spent a lot of time upfront assessing the attractiveness of an opportunity by really understanding the prospect company, their interest level and how Avaya could provide a solution. This gap between the lead qualification process results in the sales team spending considerable time requalifying any leads from the marketing team to understand what the customers problem is and what an Avaya solution would look like (this is not an efficient use of their time). • 43. Evolution Of A Evolutionary Theory Evolution is descent with modification, a phrase Darwin used in proposing the at Earth s many species are descendants of ancestral species that were different The power of evolution as a unifying theory is its ability to explain and connect a vast array of observations about the living world. Aristotle believed that life forms could be arranged on a scale of increasing complexity. Each form of life, perfect and permanent, had its allotted space. Darwin argued that classification should be based on evolutionary relationships Darwin used fossils, the remains or traces of organisms from the past, to study and observe change over time. Paleontology is the study of these fossils Darwin said that if geologic change results from slow, continuous actions rather than from sudden events, then the Earth must be much older than what was previously thought. Lamarck used two main principles already accepted to prove his evolutionary theory. The first was use and disuse, the idea that parts of the body that are used extensively become larger and stronger. The other was inheritance of acquired characteristics, which stated that an organism could pass these modifications to its offspring. Lamarck s idea that organisms have an innate drive to become more complex was rejected by Darwin. Darwin reasoned that over a long time, descent with modification eventually led to the rich diversity we see today. • 45. Should Brahm Be Considered A Conservative Or Conservative... A controversial topic in music history is the question: Should Brahms be considered a conservative or progressive composer? It is a difficult question to answer, with many different things to take into account. In this essay I will try and explore various points of view on this topic, with reference to musical examples, and then come to a conclusion with which argument I personally believe to be the truest of them all. Brahms was a composer at a time of great change in the world of music. He was at the tipping point at which the classical era was coming to an end and the romantic era was just beginning. The composers typically considered progressives were the advocates of the Romantic Movement; the composers who were considered conservative wanted to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Brahms wanted to progress music further, but with it s foundations set strongly in the work of the classical and baroque period composers. He wanted to, and he did, expand, develop, and reinvigorate the classical style of music. Wagner, Liszt, and other composers were the beginning of a new period in music. They revolutionised music and the progress they made has had an everlasting effect. Just because Brahms was not part of this movement does not mean he did not contribute to the progress of music. He developed Symphonies to a stage they had very rarely seen before. His work influenced the development of future symphonies, and that is progress. Brahms managed to be a progressive composer in a conservative form of music. So to say Brahms was both a conservative and progressive composer is a valid opinion. Throughout this essay I have explored the various different ways in which you can view Brahms: a misunderstood progressive, a stubborn conservative, or perhaps a progressive in a style unappreciated at the ...
