Sticks and Stones
Freedom of Speech is possibly the most respected American ideal. Envied by citizens of countries
where self expression is a right of some and stricken from others, we uphold this concept with
defensive pride. However, we must ask ourselves if this freedom can ever go too far. When does
lenience turn into naivety? If speech is abused so freely that it enslaves the minds of another should it
become a privilege, rather than a right? In his essay On Racist Speech , Charles R. Lawrence III
argues for limitations on Freedom of Speech as described in the First Amendment to prevent only the
most heinous racial remarks. While I understand why many Americans initially find limiting freedom
of speech contradictory to the concept of our free states, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some citizens opposed a restriction on speech simply because they feel it is not a complete upholding
of American law. However, we must decide whether the restriction of free speech for protection is
entirely acceptable or not at all because responses are often inherently hypocritical. While opposition
will often argue that racial comments cause no harm and are a right of the First Amendment, the same
people may argue for restrictions of free speech in other circumstances. It is likely that the majority of
people oppose allowing pedophiles the right to express their sexual feelings to a child over the
internet, which is already a legally enforced restriction on freedom of speech. Although there may be
no physical contact between the child and the pedophile, it is important to parents that their children
are protected from the possibility of such a threat as well as any emotional distress caused by
inappropriate comments. Further examples are found in government views on sexism in the
workplace. How much can we restrict the class of people we defend before our laws become just as
prejudice as the injustice they attempt to cease? Lawrence reminds us that the Supreme Court... held
that sexual harassment that creates a hostile or abusive work environment violates the ban on sex
discrimination in employment of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. (64); the same Title
prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion... and national

Comparing Eysenck s Theory Of Personality And Costa And...
Guilford (1959) defines personality traits as being any distinguishable, relatively enduring way in
which one individual varies from another . Subsequently, trait theory can be identified as an approach
to the study of human personality. The aim of psychologists, specifically trait theorists, is to explain
similarities and differences between individuals based on traits. Although numerous psychologists
differ on the amount of traits that are significant, each theorist categorizes personality traits along
several broad type spectrums. This assignment will focus on comparing and contrasting Eysenck s
Hierarchical Theory of Personality and Costa and McRae s Five Factor Model (FFM), two different
trait theories of personality.
Hans Eysenck, a psychologist well known in the field of personality based his trait theory on
biological explanations; whereby he believed genetic and biological factors were significant elements
of personality (Eysenck 1990). Eysenck also held the view that an individual s personality traits, or
what he referred to as temperament was an exact result of one s genetic make up (Chamorro Premuzic
Furnham, 2005). Eysenck encompassed the idea that there was a need to highlight the significant
dimensions of personality, create a way in which they could be measured and then link them with
experimental procedures. Subsequently, Eysenck developed a model of personality based on a
theoretical and statistical approach to the classification of traits. This is

Jellyfish Jew Jack Prelutsky Analysis
Jack Prelutsky s poem Jellyfish Stew is fresh, silly, and wacky. The combination of satisfying rhymes
and content make it easily approachable for kids. I was inclined to it because of its peculiarity. The
content matter seemed so random and I thought it would be fun to challenge myself by analyzing such
a silly poem and trying to find depth. I also really enjoyed how much its rhymes were consistent in
every line.
Sounds
A most memorable experience in reading a great variety of poems is the sound the poem makes. As
children, we are drawn to repetitive rhymes and melodies more than content itself. It is nice to hear a
familiar pattern as we evolve and expand our reading skills to more complicated poems. A key feature
of sounds is a poem s rhymes. Repetition of similar sounds is often comforting and Prelutsky does it
very well. In the first stanza, every line but two ends with the same sound; this is for variety: Oh, truly
I do / You re creepy to see / Revolting to chew / You slide down inside / With a hullabaloo . The poem
does not features alliterations, repetitions of initial sounds. Prelutsky makes up for this by including
consonance and assonance sounds instead which are repetitions of consonant sounds and vowel
sounds, respectively. The word you is repeated at the beginning of lines, frequently You re soggy, you
re smelly / You taste like shampoo / You bog down my belly . Within those same lines, the repetition
of the s and b sounds are heard as well. A fun example of an assonance is the following line: With
oodles of goo . Both words are humorous and repeat the silly oo sound. A bit more complicated
feature of sound is a poem s rhythm, a pattern created by beats. It is established by analyzing a poem s
meter. In the first line of the poem, is a trochee: Je/lly/fish/stew but the majority of remaining syllables
in the next few lines are unstressed, making it difficult to analyze the meter overall. Pictures Pictures
in poetry are the images writers create which make us use all of our senses. Excellent pictures can
make your mind travel to new destinations simply by reading. Prelutsky uses wonderful imagery
appealing to sight suggesting how disgusting jellyfish stew is: soggy , oodles of

Birches By Robert Frost Analysis
Robert Frost s Birches depicts the relationships between imagination and reality, liberation and
confinement, and youth and adulthood. The speaker of the poem battles with his current life
adulthood, and uses his reminiscences of adolescence and his imagination as a means to escape from
his reality for a period of time. Frost uses three different themes that he presents in three sections to
represent his emotions: nature, a young boy, and a mature man who has the opportunity to reflect on
his past and current life. The use of nature helps the narrator of the poem to connect his life to his
surroundings. His connection with nature helps him come to a realization about his life, which
ultimately sparks the use of his avid imagination. The young boy represents the speaker in his youth
where he was free, had adventures, and had no demanding obligations. He represents a state of full
possibility where the narrator was able to explore any opportunity without harsh consequences. The
man at the end of the poem, is the speaker who is taking his whole life into consideration. He is
analyzing all the positives and negatives and figuring out the overall meaning of his life. Ultimately,
his reflection leads him to come to the conclusion that he took his youth for granted. Each section of
the speaker s life symbolizes his sense of yearning for adolescence and an escape from the restrictions
of his current state of life, adulthood. The setting of Birches is not explicitly stated

Treatment For Chronic Organ Failure
In many cases, the preferred treatment for chronic organ failure is organ transplantation. Organ
transplantation involves replacing the organs that have failed in their functions. The lives of many
people, including children, has been prolonged when organ transplantation was performed
successfully. Organ transplantation has become a major public health issue in the United States due to
its attributable death rate and to its excessive cost. The number of organs which are offered for
transplantation is limited. Hence, there is a waiting list for receiving the organs. For example, during
the last decade in the United States, the available kidneys for transplantation were 11,000 per year
while the waiting list for kidney transplantation has exceeded

Essay on The Army Should Continue Random Drug Testing
Soldiers are in the spot light way to much these days, from a recruiter at a local school to a Soldier in
Iraq. The nation trust s these Soldiers to defend her against all enemies, both foreign and domestic.
With this trust comes added responsibility and scrutiny from the media. The Army is aware of this and
takes great measures to combat any disloyal acts from happening with in its ranks. To ensure Soldiers
are fit for duty the Army has incorporated an extensive drug testing program for their warriors. In
doing this it helps keep the fight going and our Soldiers out of the limelight , said by the Sergeant

selects names of Soldiers assigned to the unit. The UPL will generate the forms and the labels from
this program. These names will also be put on a Command Directive making it an order from their
Commander to be at this test. The Commander will select observers by means of who meets the

Commander will also designate a testing and holding area with a non testing Noncommissioned Office

told that there is a Command Directive that they be there. The latrines (restrooms) will be inspected by
the UPL for items that can be used as adulterants and then placed off limits to personnel not
participating in the test. The UPL will then inspect the holding area for size, security, water jugs, and

Bone Formation
Calcium and Phosphate are essential in the formation of new bone. Without these minerals, bone
production and bone tissue would be affected. In turn, the bones become weaker and fragile. The main
cause of Osteoporosis in women is the lack of the hormone Estrogen while the main cause in men is
the lack of the hormone Androgen. White and Asian descents are more at risk of being affected by
osteoporosis, particularly women. The risk also increases as one ages. More risk factors include the
lack of vitamin D and exercise. Medications can also interfere with the process of bone formation.
Approximately 1.66 million hip fractures occur each year as a result of Osteoporosis. These his
fractures result in 10% to 20% mortality within one year. Every year, Osteoporosis lands nearly

When there is an unequal balance, you begin to lose bone. Once you ve reached your peak bone at
around age twenty one to thirty, the process that removes bone to make way for new bone being
created exceeds that of bone replacement. Bones then have low bone density causing them to easily
fracture. Although there are virtually no signs that can help detect Osteoporosis until a bone fracture
has occurred. It does eventually lead to secondhand symptoms from fractures mainly to the vertebrae,
hip, and wrists. There will undoubtedly be sharp pain following a fall or injury. Loss of height is
another symptom. Normally, one will usually remain in bed in fear of experiencing even more pain.
Osteoporosis affects the skeletal system, mainly the vertebrae, hips, and wrists. It s important to do
everything possible to increase your bone reserve after peak bone is reached if you want to counter
Osteoporosis. Type I Osteoporosis is a result of lack of estrogen. Meanwhile, type II Osteoporosis is
due in part by lack of exercise, vitamin D, and calcium; also intestinal mineral absorption and

Loyalty In The Song Of Roland
The social class of a Western Medieval citizen played a significant role in the attitudes and behaviors
one was expected to maintain. Honor and glory were brought to those who knew their place in society
and never strayed from it. Nobility were no exception to this as we can see in the case of Roland, a
great knight whose life is portrayed in The Song of Roland. The setting of Roland s life is during the
Carolinian era during the battle of Roncevaux between France and the Islamic people. The unknown
author of this epic poem portrays Roland as a near faultless man who is able to uphold the duties of
knighthood and sustain his place in the feudalistic society. We can see many examples of him acting as
a perfect knight throughout the book until his honorable death. The first instance of Roland s
knighthood is seen in his loyalty to King Charles of France. Roland is so trusted by the King that he
sits by him and even advises him saying Woe the day you trust Marsile! (pg. 8) in regards to a
proposed treaty. The warning he gives proves to be accurate, proving his intellect and great war
strategy abilities. Roland also honors the when he fought in his name against the Saracens saying We

Blancandrin who says Very fell is Roland, who would make every nation cry him mercy, and who

Spain on his swift horse Veillantif (pg.47) and when he wields his sword Durendal and killed many of

Anabolic Steroids In Sport
Steroids in Sport The human body naturally produces substances that are commonly known as
steroids. To keep the body running smoothly, steroids such as Vitamin D, cholesterol, estrogen, and
cortisone are needed. Corticosteroids are normally made by the adrenal glands located on the top of
each kidney. It is often prescribed for a major variety of conditions to help reduce inflammation and to
let the immune system relax. Specific hormones that the body cannot produce automatically can be
replaced by corticosteroids. An example of the body not being able to manufacture hormones itself,
would be the Addison s disease. This disease occurs due to the inability of the adrenal glands to

In the late 1930 s anabolic steroids were created primarily to act towards giving treatment to who had
delayed puberty, some types of impotence, wasting of the body caused by HIV infections,
hypogonadism and other disease. Hypogonadism is when the body does not produce an adequate
amount of testosterone for normal growth development and sexual functioning. During that time,
scientists discovered that they could manipulate the growth of skeletal muscles in laboratory animals
and this led to body builders, weightlifters and athletes in numerous sports to abuse the use of steroids
for personal benefits. The outcome of sports contests can be affected dramatically because the abuse
of steroids has become so widespread. Athletes who abuse anabolic steroids have different methods to
use these. They can take them orally, inject them into the muscles, and apply it to the skin as a cream,

Breakfast The Most Important Meal You Can Have During The Day
Breakfast the most important meal you can have during the day
By Gretel Herrera
Persuasive Speech Outline
General Purpose: To persuade
Specific Purpose: To persuade the audience that eating breakfast is really important to have good
health and a healthy body and mind.
Thesis: If we start our day with a good meal called: breakfast , this is going to help you to maintain a
healthy body and a productive mind throughout the rest of your day.
I. The Attention Step
A. Attention: A. I want to share a story today about why eating breakfast as a first meal during the day
is so important to our body and to our health. In occasions we got frustrated because we want to lose
weight but we cannot lose it at all or we cannot lose it as fast as we want. About the fact that we
cannot lose weight, even though we are not eating a lot of food during the day, have you ever asked
yourself why you can not lose weight? The main reason could be that you are not eating breakfast as
your first meal during the day.
Significance: B. I am pretty sure that at least the median of the class skips breakfast at least two or
more days during the week. Sometimes we skip breakfast because we are in rush but sometimes it is
because we do not have healthy habits of eating. For that reason, I am going to talk to you about the
importance of having breakfast, and the positive results from eating breakfast. Additionally I am going
to talk to you about negative effects from not having breakfast.

Reasons Why the United States Failed in the Vietnam War
President Johnson ordered revenge air strikes against the patrol boat s bases. After that, Congress had
approved the resolution eighty eight to two and Johnson had been granted the powers to prosecute the
war in Vietnam. Senator Wayne Morse or Oregon voted against it, reminding McNamara that the
North Vietnamese patrol boat attacks had been provoked by U.S. presence in Tonkin Bay (Armstrong
52). It was apparent that the past of American policy in South Vietnam seemed to be leading America
into war. The United States had affiliated themselves with a policy that was a form of American
colonialism, of saving U.S. interests at the cost of the Vietnamese people. The Tonkin Resolution was
evidence. Prior to the war President Franklin D. Roosevelt had stated that American policy should be
changed, but no steps were taken to change it. In 1954, the U.S. refused to sign the Geneva Accord, so
from then on America claimed that North Vietnam was violating the accord by sending help to the
rebels against the South Vietnamese Government. But we decided not to go to the countries that
signed the agreement and who were responsible for its enforcement. But, instead we violated by
joining in the fighting. Every American person or item that was sent to South Vietnam was a violation.
In January 1965, five months after the Gulf of Tonkin incident, West Point graduate Richard Steinke
refused to join a unit operating in Vietnam (Schutts). Many knew that the decision to join the war was

Why Managers Involves Pricing Their Products And Services
One of the most challenging and essential task of Managers involves pricing their products and

can drive customers away and hurt an organization. Simultaneously, prices that are too low can
indeed, robs the ability to earn a profits giving the impression that the products are inferior.
Determining an appropriate pricing structure is the key to the success and long term benefit for the

The costs of the product are converted to per unit, then a predetermined percentage is added to provide
a profit margin making it the Cost Plus Pricing. The cost plus approach relies on arbitrary costs and
arbitrary markups. Many companies use this strategy to maximize their return rates.
According to Federal News Radio, the U.S. government agencies spent $135 billion in 2008 on cost
plus type contracts states Lisa Magloff, Demand Media.
Cost plus pricing commonly is used in processing credit card transactions. This involves three banks.
A pricing system called interchange plus adds a merchant service provider s fee to the rate charged by
the credit card provider for each transaction. The merchant banks regulates the transaction of the
goods sold to that of the appropriate payment there of. This price model is good for merchants because
it tells them exactly how much each credit card transaction will cost them to process.
2 Potential problems are: This method ignores the concept of price elasticity of demand. Less
incentive to cut or control costs, needs an estimate and apportionment of business overheads. If
applied strictly, a full cost plus pricing method may leave a business in a vicious circle. When setting
price, marketers must take into consideration several factors which are the result of company decisions
and actions. To a large extent these factors are controlled by the company and, if necessary, can be
altered. However, while the

The Objectives Of Senior Management
This is a type of risk that the CRO must assess within the goals of business continuity. The objective
of senior management is to be continuing operations as normal and business interruption risks affect
the ability of the organization to continue operations normally. The CRO should identify the activities
or accidents that would possibly interrupt business, determine the resources available internally to deal
with the loss, and ensure that any resources identified would be available to assist with this unlikely
event (Elliot, 2012). Securing this type of insurance seeks to transfer the risk of business interruption
by providing some mechanism for compensation to the bank and to its employees should a loss occur.
Enterprise Risk Management Using Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) techniques to assess risks for
the risk management program involves managing risks together as an overall risk program. It differs
from traditional risk management that looks at risks individually and manages each risk separately. By
integrating the traditional risks that are insurable risks into an ERM program, aids the organization in
implementing a strategic risk management program that encompasses the hazard risks along with
financial risks, operational risks, and strategic risks into a comprehensive risk management program
for the bank.
Financial Risks Financial risks are important for the CRO to address through the risk management
program. According to Elliott (2012), financial risks

Dirt Bikes Comparison
Street motorcycles and dirt bikes are not created equal. There are important differences to recognize
between street motorcycles and dirt bikes. They are both two wheeled vehicles but are designed and
intended for different purposes. Although, street motorcycles and dirt bikes can seem very similar they
have some major differences that affect their riding styles. Street motorcycles and dirt bike are
designed for different environments you can tell from the differences in the build what terrain each is
made for.
Environments that street bikes and dirt bikes are made for are very contrasting. A street motorcycle is
made for smooth or mostly smooth terrain like paved roads, highways, and some gravel roads. The
terrain a dirt bike is made for is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A street motorcycle usually has a larger frame and it is heavy and metal. The frame of a dirt bike is
typically lighter and smaller because it uses mostly hard plastic with minimal metal. The street
motorcycles larger heavier frame offers more stability to the rider and the dirt bikes smaller lighter
frame offers more agility. Dirt bikes also go off jumps so a lighter frame is better. Street motorcycle
and dirt bikes are not equipped with the same suspension. The suspension on a street motorcycle is
stiffer than the suspension of a dirt bike. The suspension on a street motorcycle is limited because it is
made for a heavy bike on smooth roads not taking much impact, enough to give a smooth ride but not
enough to take the jumps that a dirt bike would. On a dirt bike, the suspension is not as stiff and is
very good at taking impact as it is made to absorb the shock of the bike going over rough trails and
jumps. The tires of street motorcycles and dirt bikes are designed for different environments. Street
motorcycles have less aggressive, slick, and wide tires. The slicker and wider tires of a street
motorcycle provide more traction and stability on the smooth pavement they are made for. Dirt bikes
have a more aggressive tire design as they are narrower and have knobs. The narrower and knobby dirt
bike tire give traction and make maneuvering through loose dirt and sand

First Seed Plants False The Earth
How the First Seed Plants Froze the Earth
With a little bacteria and a little bit of dirt, the first plant on earth was created. This plant was no more
than mats of algae that layered on top of itself in water, but it was a first nonetheless. It was not until
the end of the Ordovician period, some 480 million years ago, that plants began to grow on land.
Bryophytes were the first to grow, which included mosses, hornworts, and liverworts. Lacking any
leaves, these plants went through a Gametophyte stage, reproducing by dividing cells into spores. Also
reproducing with spores, the Lycopodiophyta (Lycopods) evolved simple microphyll leaves with just
one leaf vein bringing sunlight and nutrients in to support the plant.
The beginning of the Silurian Period (440 million years ago) brought vascular plants such as ferns,
with megaphyll leaves, or many veined leaves, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lignins in plants becomes buried over time, not allowing the carbon atoms to release back into the
atmosphere. Two historic climate changes that took place around the same time could possible be
explained by the evolution of seed plants. The first is the Snowball earth theory that suggest the
equator and therefore the whole earth was at one point completely covered in ice. Evidence for this
theory is found in earthforms that contain markings similar to those that glaciers make. Another theory
is the Cambrian explosion which resulted in creating the first fossils of every animals category. There
are still many debated and unproven theories about the evolution of plants but one thing that is for
certain is that they had one of the largest impacts on the planet, shaping the atmosphere and biosphere
the most in establishing conditions to support animal life, by supporting the soil, air, water, food

Jealousy In Shakespeare s Othello
In William Shakespeare s tragedy Othello , jealousy is conveyed by the handkerchief, a symbol that
adds to the importance of the work all in all.
William Shakespeare utilizes images as a part of Othello to speak to numerous things, in the endless
cluster of images utilized all through the play the handkerchief is one of the principle objects used to
mean desire and envy. The cloth contains an alternate significance relying upon the character in the
play. The handkerchief was the first gift Othello provided for Desdemona, he symbolizes it as proof of
her unfaithfulness. For instance, in act III scene IV Othello states I have a salt and sorry rheum

I Am Born On The World
Introduction:
Steveland (Stevie) Hardaway Judkins was born on the 13th of May, 1950 in Saginaw Michigan (Bio,
2015). Due to being born six weeks premature, Stevie was placed in an incubator to help maintain his
breathing (Bio, 2015
Stevie Wonder, 2011). The forced oxygen caused the retinas in the back of his eyes to become
unattached, leaving Stevie permanently blind (Bio, 2015). This happened due to the growth of blood
vessels in the back of the eyes not fully developing correctly (Wikipedia, 2015).
Even though Stevie was left with no vision he began playing the harmonica at age 4, learnt to play
piano at age 6 and took up drum lessons when he was 8 years old (Bio, 2011). In 1961, Stevie had the
opportunity to sing to Ronnie White ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apart from being involved in many helpful campaigns and events, Stevie s music and lyrics inspired
musicians everywhere. Jackson 5, Prince, Lionel Richie and D Angelo all believed that Stevie Wonder
had a massive impact on music and song writing (Shmoop, 2015). Musicians such as the Miracles,
Ray Charles and Johnny Ace all influenced Stevie to pursue a career in the music industry (Shmoop,
2015). Even though he is blind, he has not let that stop him from doing what he wants to do. Stevie
once said Just because a man lacks the use of his eyes doesn t mean he lacks vision (Brainy Quote,
2015).
Development:
The Tamla label offered Stevie a five year contract but made it clear that all his money would be kept
in a trust fund until he was at least 21 years old (Wikipedia, 2015). In 1962, Stevie released his first
album The Jazz Soul of Little Stevie . He then released his first recorded album, Tribute to Uncle Ray
in October, the same year (Wikipedia, 2015). When Stevie was just 12 years old he toured America
through the chitlin circuit theatres (Wikipedia, 2015). In May 1963, his performance at the Regal
Theatre in Chicago was recorded and formed into a live album, The 12 Year Old Genius (Wikipedia,
2015). A few months later, when Stevie was 13, his first number 1 hit single appeared on the Billboard

1. Our percent yield for alcohol was 84.2% which is average. We rushed through our vacuum filtration
and probably did not let the solid dry long enough and might have not transferred all of the solid to the
vacuum filtration from the beaker. 2. The TLC results showed two different spots that traveled
different distances on the TLC plate, one for ethyl vanillin and one for ethyl vanillin alcohol which
proves there is no evidence of the starting material in our final product. The product (ethyl vanillin
alcohol) was more polar and interacted more with the solvent than our starting material (ethyl
vanillin). This increase in polarity is due to the extra alcohol group in the ethyl vanillin alcohol and the
smaller Rf value also indicates it is more polar and pure than the ethyl vanillin. 3. The IR spectrum of
the starting material shows a medium/strong C O bond at around 1500cm 1, also the starting material

Organic Compounds Identity Lab Report
Kenneth Hobbs
The objective of the lab was to reveal some physical characteristics of two organic compounds to
determine their identity. The methods performed in this lab were melting point (mp), thin layer
chromatography, solubility in a sodium bicarbonate solution, and mixed mp with organic solids. The
unknown #5 exhibited an approximate mp range of 162 167 °C, precise mp range of 162 164 °C, Rf
value of 0.558, and insoluble in sodium bicarbonate. The first comparison of Rf values showed
unknown #5 had a considerably higher value compared to the other unknowns. Xing s unknown Rf
value of 0.506 gave an immediate indication towards a match, both compounds had a similar white
chalk physical appearance, and his mp range of 161 163 °C confirmed the two unknowns were most
likely to be the same. The mixed mp with Xing s unknown was 162 163.5 °C. The mixed mp
concludes the two unknowns are the same because the temperature range did not become broader and
lower as if two different compounds would. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

compounds individual mp. Since the temperature was lower, the crystalline structures of the impure
mixture changed. Because the mp range did not broaden as much with the temperature drop, the
mixed sample may have been near the eutectic point. The mixture mp for the benzoic acid and sand
mixture was 126.1 °C. The organic benzoic acid melted into a liquid; however, the sand did not melt

What Is The Importance Of Tourism And The Environment
Moreover, tourism and the environment are balancing sectors in terms of vision and goals. The
environment is the right climate for sustainable tourism development, and sustainable tourism focuses
on environmental planning. Perhaps the most important element on which eco tourism is based is not
to disturb the ecological balance resulting from human actions, which are represented by the behavior
of tourists in the case of ecotourism and the pollution it may cause. In addition, natural areas form the
basis for ecotourism from marine tourism and land tourism, and recent studies have shown that eco
tourism generates direct financial resources. What is more, the main objective of ecotourism is to
promote and improve the standards of living of the local community (Kuhdairi, 2012)
7. The Importance of Ecotourism
Eco tourism has an importance that it helps to achieve different importance. One is keeping
environmental balance and protecting the natural life of land, sea and air from pollution. Therefore, it
is way to protect environment. Another is that sets behavioral controls in the use of materials or
consumption in order to maintain public health and safety, and renew resources. Another importance is
that ecotourism provides easy, simple life away from discomfort, anxiety and stress by preventing
noise and gaseous emissions that affect human efficiency because tourists go to clean and comfortable
areas. Moreover, there is an economic importance for eco tourism as it brings

An Analysis Of Cold As Heaven By Judith Ortiz Cofer
Cold as Heaven Judith Ortiz Cofer s poem Cold as Heaven is a very sweet interaction between a
granddaughter and her dying grandmother. The granddaughter is the narrator. After reading the poem,
I believe the meaning of the poem is that the cold is something that the grandmother never
experienced, and the cold refers to heaven. The grandmother has not yet experienced heaven and she
is curious. In lines 25 30: When her eyes return to me, I can see she s waiting to hear more about the
purifying nature of ice, how snow makes way for a body, how you can make yourself an angel by just
lying down and waving your arms (Cofer). These lines describe winter as a place where angels are
made. It mentions that even when the snow touches you, it is a feeling of purification. This symbolizes
that heaven is a place filled with angels that purify you.
The poem consists of many different uses of figurative language in order to connect snow to death.
Cofer included the use of similes to allow the readers to make a connection to what she was saying, so
that they could grasp a better understanding. An example of a simile can be found in lines 6 7: the
Caribbean sun winds up the world like an old alarm clock (Cofer). The author is comparing two unlike
things, the sun and an alarm clock, however they have a similar connection. The Caribbean sun is
what wakes the world, just like an alarm clock does. The use of this simile adds to the poem s
meaning because it describes the life that the grandmother lives and that is warmth in her home in the
Caribbean.
There is a lot of imagery included in the poem. Throughout the poem I was able to visualize what the
author descriptively shared. The poem includes descriptions of where the grandmother lives in the
Caribbean, where the granddaughter lives with the winter weather, and how heaven looks through the
eyes of the granddaughter s comparison to winter. As I read through the poem several time, I looked
for some mention of Christianity. I found it in lines 1 2: Before there is a breeze again before the
cooling days of Lent, she may be gone (Cofer). Obviously, it is a Christian belief that when you die
you will go to heaven. I wondered how long grandma

What Is The Relationship Between George And Ophelia Naylor...
Gloria Naylor s Mama Day
George and Ophelia grow up in significantly different environments with exposure to vastly dissimilar
experiences; their diverse backgrounds have a profound impact on the way they interpret and react to
situations as adults. George and Ophelia both grow up without their parents, but for different reasons.
George grows up at the Wallace P. Andrews Shelter for Boys in New York. The Shelter s strict
surroundings did not provide the warm and inviting atmosphere that a mother strives for in a home.
The employees at the Shelter are not loving people, (p. 23) but they are devoted to their job, and the

the age of 31, and that just goes to prove that you got nothing from believing in crossed fingers,

When people have a gut feeling like George has in the coffee shop, they usually try to do something
about it; and when the same person they had that feeling about walks into their office 30 minutes later,
they usually consider it an act of fate. But George isn t a man of those beliefs; in fact he almost forgets

she knew they were going to marry each other because they meet twice in one day, but she doesn t
completely forget as George does. She grows up with magic and believes that you can feel and hear
things if you choose to.
George and Ophelia approach the interview process from different perspectives, as well. In her
independent and determined manner, she left Willow Springs to venture off into the real world. The
grades she makes in school and the fact that she survives the obstacles of life in New York City are
due to her headstrong, independent attitude. The people of Willow Springs demonstrated

groupware tools and social media. It is only a prototype however, and the company still wants to come
up with ways to improve it by either adding or removing features from it. A marketing strategy was

Traditional product analytics is usually metrics focused, and the function normally depends on
gathering as much quantity of data as possible on net promoter scores, cost of acquisition, conversion
rates, retention rates and so on.
Happiness:
Happiness focuses on information points like user surveys, where users tell you how much they like
the product.
Engagement:
Level of user involvement, typically measured via behavioral proxies such as frequency, intensity, or
depth of interaction over some time period.
Adoption:
New users of a site or app. Most users just try a new feature because it is new, instead of having an
inherent goal to adopt it because it is good. Hence it is important to understand the actual product and
what constitutes success by understanding how the user flow works from a design pattern standpoint.
Retention:
The rate at which existing users are returning. That means customers are interested in this site or app.
Task Success:
Traditional behavioral metrics of user experience, such as efficiency (e.g. time to complete a task),
effectiveness (e.g. percent of tasks completed), and error rate. This category is most applicable to
areas of your product that are very task focused, such as search or an upload flow.

The Negatives Of Using Newspapers For Advertising
Newspapers:
The positives of using newspapers for advertising for Cherry Hill Animal Clinic are that you can use a
local newspaper for an affordable price and the clinic would benefit since they could target their
audience from their local area.
The negatives are that newspapers have a short shelf life and there could be many other ads that
distract the reader from your ad.
Magazines:
The positives for using magazine advertising are that you could focus on local magazines about pets
since that would likely be your reader. Also, magazines are commonly passed around among pet
owners and the clinic could get more visibility.
The negatives are that you would have to limit this to local magazines since you have a limited area
with which you customers would come from. Furthermore, you would need to pay more to get a good
spot in the magazine for your ad.
Directories:
The positives for using directories are that people will specifically go there to find a clinic, so a well
placed ad should stand out and increase your business. Also, these are available 24 hours and won t
become outdated like a newspaper or magazine would.
The negatives are that advertising is costly and you would need to have a good placement for your ad
because the directories are normally published once a year.
Radio:
The positives of using radio are that the cost is less than using other medium and you can use local
radio which will reach your target audience

However, amateurism is an illusion because the NCAA insatiably embrace[s] commercialism in all
facets of intercollegiate athletics except on a single issue athlete compensation (Zola, 2013). The
1980s is where NCAAM and NCAAF exploded as businesses. The Supreme Court, in 1984, struck
down the NCAA s restrictions on television appearances. This coincided with the government
deregulation of cable television and, ultimately, led to massive television contracts and sports stations
covering NCAAM and NCAAF. As the athletic departments of universities expanded profoundly, they
continued to reiterate the student in student athletes. By doing so, they built the boundary up as an
effective defense from allowing college athletes to get a cut of the newfound income. In 1988, the
NCAA became an effective private institution when the Supreme Court ruled against Jerry Tarkanian

Risk management is a process for identifying, assessing and prioritizing risks of different kinds. Once
the risks are identified, the risk manager will create a plan to minimize or eliminate the impact of
negative events. A variety of strategies is available, depending on the type of risk and the type of

The creative process includes brainstorming sessions where the team is asked to create a list of
everything that could go wrong. All ideas are welcome at this stage with the evaluation of the ideas
coming later.
Risk identification more disciplined process involves using checklists of potential risks and evaluating
the likelihood that those events might happen on the project. Some companies and industries develop
risk checklists based on experience from past projects. These checklists can be helpful to the project
manager and project team in identifying both specific risks on the checklist and expanding the
thinking of the team. The past experience of the project team, project experience within the company,
and experts in the industry can be valuable resources for identifying.
Qualitative risk analysis the reason that a qualitative method is more commonly used than a
quantitative method is because of the difficulty of assigning monetary values to assets, calculating the
percentage of damage that could be endured and deriving the probability of frequency of a threat
becoming realized.
Quantitative risk analysis uses percentages formulas and monetary values. The most commonly
known and understood formulas are the single loss expectancy and the annualized loss expectancy

The Pros And Cons Of Poverty
Just ten years later, janitors once again marched for an increase in their wages. The city still had to
confront all the issues related to poverty and wages, so the workers decided that their best option for
them to be heard, was through a march (Meyerson, 2000). As the marchers began to walk down
Wilshire Boulevard from downtown to Century City, they experience many surprises. As they walked
the cars kept honking at them, not become of anger, but because they were trying to signal their
support for the movement (Meyerson, 2000). As the movement continued, there was a lot more
support then what they believed they would get. Elected officials came out and stood on the flatbed
truck leading the parade, to signal their support (Meyerson, 2000). This march was very different in
comparison to the one that had occurred 10 years prior, which had been violent. Furthermore, there
was a lot of influential people on their side, for example Deputy Mayor Manuel Valencia, who said
that the wages that the strikers are now earning are simply not a livable wage, not for anyone, not in
Los Angeles. (Meyerson, 2000). They had a great deal of support, not only here, in L.A., but also
abroad. There is an important line in the article by Meyerson, By making visible the lives of our
immigrant poor, by making plausible a solution to their poverty, they have in 10 short days improved
us all (2000). They stood up for their rights, and helped make L.A. a better city. It is interesting to see

Rgan Case Study
B ack in Nebraska, supplies of Ryanite goods sent to the region was starting to dwindle, forcing the
Dutchman and his fellow Volksryanischen associates to contact their other associates, the RGA, for a
resupply. In response, the Plaid Orchestra faction of the RGA sent in a detachment of their elite
Nightingales to Nebraska, as part of a Sunday Morning Special that the Nightingales were conducting
in the region. These Nightingales and their auxiliaries from nearby Iowa were known best by the
Trouble Trio, in terms of rank and role within their unit. Sharon Lockhart, Kenneth Green, Ryan Boyd,
and Nelson were the Nightingales, while Marcus McAlister, Jessica the Clever Jacobson and a
Jackbooter named Bristol were their unit s auxiliaries. On one hand, during the five weekdays, ...

Will the two of you be so kind as to relay your recent findings to us? Brenda and Siegfried nodded
their heads in compliance with the Nightingale s request. It s a pleasure, muttered Siegfried, before
allowing Brenda to go first in informing the Nightingale. Last week, the FYC s managed to take two
freelance Jackbooter crews of five out of commission, recalled Brenda. The leaders were suspended,
when their fellow partners folded like a lawn chair. As a result of being demoralized by the FYC s
attempts to remove freelance Jackbooters, it s a shame to admit that these two crews morale was
literally crushed like a Styrofoam cup. Sorry to hear that, Marcus McAlister told Brenda, upon hearing
what she had to say to him and his fellow comrades, Is there anything else you guys managed to pick
up in your transactions, besides the usual FYC informer gig? From what I heard from one of my usual
customers a few days back, Siegfried said, trying to remember what this usual customer of his told
him, One of the FYC head honchos is coming over from Kansas to oversee the formation of a new

Franklin Chang Diaz s Vaskimar Rocket
Franklin Chang Diaz s VASIMR rocket could cut a trip to Mars from 6 months to 39 days. Diaz
created improved versions of VASIMR. He created, imagined, and innovated to overcome challenges.
He also illuminated by changing the world s view on rocket engines and by improving Latin America
s technology.
Franklin Chang Diaz created improved versions of the Variable Specific Magnetoplasma
Rocket(VASIMR). The VASIMR rocket engine turns argon, xenon, or hydrogen into superheated
plasma. It does this by first ionizing it, knocking an electron loose from each gas atom with a Helicon
coupler. Then, using an Ion Cyclotron Heating (ICH) coupler, it heats plasma to temperatures at about
the temperature in the Sun s core(9,999,726.85℃). The ICH coupler

  • 2. Sticks and Stones Freedom of Speech is possibly the most respected American ideal. Envied by citizens of countries where self expression is a right of some and stricken from others, we uphold this concept with defensive pride. However, we must ask ourselves if this freedom can ever go too far. When does lenience turn into naivety? If speech is abused so freely that it enslaves the minds of another should it become a privilege, rather than a right? In his essay On Racist Speech , Charles R. Lawrence III argues for limitations on Freedom of Speech as described in the First Amendment to prevent only the most heinous racial remarks. While I understand why many Americans initially find limiting freedom of speech contradictory to the concept of our free states, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some citizens opposed a restriction on speech simply because they feel it is not a complete upholding of American law. However, we must decide whether the restriction of free speech for protection is entirely acceptable or not at all because responses are often inherently hypocritical. While opposition will often argue that racial comments cause no harm and are a right of the First Amendment, the same people may argue for restrictions of free speech in other circumstances. It is likely that the majority of people oppose allowing pedophiles the right to express their sexual feelings to a child over the internet, which is already a legally enforced restriction on freedom of speech. Although there may be no physical contact between the child and the pedophile, it is important to parents that their children are protected from the possibility of such a threat as well as any emotional distress caused by inappropriate comments. Further examples are found in government views on sexism in the workplace. How much can we restrict the class of people we defend before our laws become just as prejudice as the injustice they attempt to cease? Lawrence reminds us that the Supreme Court... held that sexual harassment that creates a hostile or abusive work environment violates the ban on sex discrimination in employment of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. (64); the same Title prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion... and national ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Comparing Eysenck s Theory Of Personality And Costa And... Guilford (1959) defines personality traits as being any distinguishable, relatively enduring way in which one individual varies from another . Subsequently, trait theory can be identified as an approach to the study of human personality. The aim of psychologists, specifically trait theorists, is to explain similarities and differences between individuals based on traits. Although numerous psychologists differ on the amount of traits that are significant, each theorist categorizes personality traits along several broad type spectrums. This assignment will focus on comparing and contrasting Eysenck s Hierarchical Theory of Personality and Costa and McRae s Five Factor Model (FFM), two different trait theories of personality. Hans Eysenck, a psychologist well known in the field of personality based his trait theory on biological explanations; whereby he believed genetic and biological factors were significant elements of personality (Eysenck 1990). Eysenck also held the view that an individual s personality traits, or what he referred to as temperament was an exact result of one s genetic make up (Chamorro Premuzic Furnham, 2005). Eysenck encompassed the idea that there was a need to highlight the significant dimensions of personality, create a way in which they could be measured and then link them with experimental procedures. • 4. Jellyfish Jew Jack Prelutsky Analysis Jack Prelutsky s poem Jellyfish Stew is fresh, silly, and wacky. The combination of satisfying rhymes and content make it easily approachable for kids. I was inclined to it because of its peculiarity. The content matter seemed so random and I thought it would be fun to challenge myself by analyzing such a silly poem and trying to find depth. I also really enjoyed how much its rhymes were consistent in every line. Sounds A most memorable experience in reading a great variety of poems is the sound the poem makes. As children, we are drawn to repetitive rhymes and melodies more than content itself. It is nice to hear a familiar pattern as we evolve and expand our reading skills to more complicated poems. A key feature of sounds is a poem s rhymes. Repetition of similar sounds is often comforting and Prelutsky does it very well. In the first stanza, every line but two ends with the same sound; this is for variety: Oh, truly I do / You re creepy to see / Revolting to chew / You slide down inside / With a hullabaloo . The poem does not features alliterations, repetitions of initial sounds. Prelutsky makes up for this by including consonance and assonance sounds instead which are repetitions of consonant sounds and vowel sounds, respectively. The word you is repeated at the beginning of lines, frequently You re soggy, you re smelly / You taste like shampoo / You bog down my belly . Within those same lines, the repetition of the s and b sounds are heard as well. A fun example of an assonance is the following line: With oodles of goo . Both words are humorous and repeat the silly oo sound. A bit more complicated feature of sound is a poem s rhythm, a pattern created by beats. It is established by analyzing a poem s meter. In the first line of the poem, is a trochee: Je/lly/fish/stew but the majority of remaining syllables in the next few lines are unstressed, making it difficult to analyze the meter overall. Pictures Pictures in poetry are the images writers create which make us use all of our senses. Excellent pictures can make your mind travel to new destinations simply by reading. • 5. Birches By Robert Frost Analysis Robert Frost s Birches depicts the relationships between imagination and reality, liberation and confinement, and youth and adulthood. The speaker of the poem battles with his current life adulthood, and uses his reminiscences of adolescence and his imagination as a means to escape from his reality for a period of time. Frost uses three different themes that he presents in three sections to represent his emotions: nature, a young boy, and a mature man who has the opportunity to reflect on his past and current life. The use of nature helps the narrator of the poem to connect his life to his surroundings. His connection with nature helps him come to a realization about his life, which ultimately sparks the use of his avid imagination. The young boy represents the speaker in his youth where he was free, had adventures, and had no demanding obligations. He represents a state of full possibility where the narrator was able to explore any opportunity without harsh consequences. The man at the end of the poem, is the speaker who is taking his whole life into consideration. He is analyzing all the positives and negatives and figuring out the overall meaning of his life. Ultimately, his reflection leads him to come to the conclusion that he took his youth for granted. Each section of the speaker s life symbolizes his sense of yearning for adolescence and an escape from the restrictions of his current state of life, adulthood. Due to being born six weeks premature, Stevie was placed in an incubator to help maintain his breathing (Bio, 2015 Stevie Wonder, 2011). The forced oxygen caused the retinas in the back of his eyes to become unattached, leaving Stevie permanently blind (Bio, 2015). This happened due to the growth of blood vessels in the back of the eyes not fully developing correctly (Wikipedia, 2015). Even though Stevie was left with no vision he began playing the harmonica at age 4, learnt to play piano at age 6 and took up drum lessons when he was 8 years old (Bio, 2011). Our percent yield for alcohol was 84.2% which is average. We rushed through our vacuum filtration and probably did not let the solid dry long enough and might have not transferred all of the solid to the vacuum filtration from the beaker. 2. The TLC results showed two different spots that traveled different distances on the TLC plate, one for ethyl vanillin and one for ethyl vanillin alcohol which proves there is no evidence of the starting material in our final product. The product (ethyl vanillin alcohol) was more polar and interacted more with the solvent than our starting material (ethyl vanillin). This increase in polarity is due to the extra alcohol group in the ethyl vanillin alcohol and the smaller Rf value also indicates it is more polar and pure than the ethyl vanillin. 3. The IR spectrum of the starting material shows a medium/strong C O bond at around 1500cm 1, also the starting material shows a strong C H bond at around 3000cm 1 and another medium C H bond at 2865cm 1 indicating an aldehyde group whereas the product does not. The methods performed in this lab were melting point (mp), thin layer chromatography, solubility in a sodium bicarbonate solution, and mixed mp with organic solids. The unknown #5 exhibited an approximate mp range of 162 167 °C, precise mp range of 162 164 °C, Rf value of 0.558, and insoluble in sodium bicarbonate. The first comparison of Rf values showed unknown #5 had a considerably higher value compared to the other unknowns. Xing s unknown Rf value of 0.506 gave an immediate indication towards a match, both compounds had a similar white chalk physical appearance, and his mp range of 161 163 °C confirmed the two unknowns were most likely to be the same. The environment is the right climate for sustainable tourism development, and sustainable tourism focuses on environmental planning. Perhaps the most important element on which eco tourism is based is not to disturb the ecological balance resulting from human actions, which are represented by the behavior of tourists in the case of ecotourism and the pollution it may cause. In addition, natural areas form the basis for ecotourism from marine tourism and land tourism, and recent studies have shown that eco tourism generates direct financial resources. What is more, the main objective of ecotourism is to promote and improve the standards of living of the local community (Kuhdairi, 2012) 7. • 29. An Analysis Of Cold As Heaven By Judith Ortiz Cofer Cold as Heaven Judith Ortiz Cofer s poem Cold as Heaven is a very sweet interaction between a granddaughter and her dying grandmother. The granddaughter is the narrator. After reading the poem, I believe the meaning of the poem is that the cold is something that the grandmother never experienced, and the cold refers to heaven. The grandmother has not yet experienced heaven and she is curious. In lines 25 30: When her eyes return to me, I can see she s waiting to hear more about the purifying nature of ice, how snow makes way for a body, how you can make yourself an angel by just lying down and waving your arms (Cofer). These lines describe winter as a place where angels are made. It mentions that even when the snow touches you, it is a feeling of purification. This symbolizes that heaven is a place filled with angels that purify you. The poem consists of many different uses of figurative language in order to connect snow to death. Cofer included the use of similes to allow the readers to make a connection to what she was saying, so that they could grasp a better understanding. An example of a simile can be found in lines 6 7: the Caribbean sun winds up the world like an old alarm clock (Cofer). The author is comparing two unlike things, the sun and an alarm clock, however they have a similar connection. The Caribbean sun is what wakes the world, just like an alarm clock does. The use of this simile adds to the poem s meaning because it describes the life that the grandmother lives and that is warmth in her home in the Caribbean. There is a lot of imagery included in the poem. Throughout the poem I was able to visualize what the author descriptively shared. The poem includes descriptions of where the grandmother lives in the Caribbean, where the granddaughter lives with the winter weather, and how heaven looks through the eyes of the granddaughter s comparison to winter. As I read through the poem several time, I looked for some mention of Christianity. I found it in lines 1 2: Before there is a breeze again before the cooling days of Lent, she may be gone (Cofer). Obviously, it is a Christian belief that when you die you will go to heaven. I wondered how long grandma ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
