Traditionally, a high school schedule consists of seven or eight class periods, each one lasting 45 to 50 minutes.
Since 1964, when Joliet West High School opened its doors, it has used a traditional seven to eight period school
day. 53 years later, problems are starting to arise with how the school day is laid out. Recently, students are
becoming more involved in sports, jobs, and extracurricular activities, and the traditional schedule is making it
harder for students to keep up with the work from seven different classes. This task is especially difficult for
