Greek Statue Analysis
The second option on the power point displays a Greek statue from between the 4th and 2nd
century CE. The sculpture is in the round and is made of a bronze cast with copper inlays. The art
piece depicts a man sitting on a rock with his hands draped over his lap, his head peering up and a
size of 4 ft 2 inches.
The pose of the adult man is sitting down, with his legs splayed and his elbows balancing on top
of his knees. His arms are then somewhat draped between his legs with his hands placed over one
another. In order to have his elbows touch his thighs, he is sitting hunched and then has his chest
slightly twisted as he is looking up and peering over his right shoulder. One interesting observation
to see is that his feet aren t firmly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We can see the prominence of the muscles with carefully articulated body parts. The artist paid
careful attention to human anatomy when creating this statue. He was also sure to follow the
idealized body the Hellenistic period with pronounced muscle and large feet. Another convention
of the Hellenistic period is how animated he is, with his pose and expression being very dynamic.
He is also in good proportion and is accurate to the natural human form. We see that the chest and
torso are a little under 2/3rd s the 50 sculpture. This would make his chest around 30 inches (2 and
a half feet) which would be considered average for males making this sculpture life size. The
man also has a beard and curly locks of hair. This is the most stylized part of the rendering, as the
way the hair is clumped is into sections and is symmetrical on both sides of the head. This
choice is likely made because of the difficulty of interpreting hair on a sculpture. Also, the hair is
noticeably the only part of the body with an exception to the smooth texture, attracting our eye
towards his face. This is because the texture of the beard is made with deep, wavy grooves to
show strands of hair. Lastly, on the face, we notice the eye sockets are empty, this is likely due to
glass marbles or some other material once filling the

The Education And Teaching Field
In the education and teaching field there are countless amounts of issues that occur on an
everyday bases, whether the issues are big or small. For instance, some of the minor issues
would be the lack of parent support, technology, and poor attendance rates. On the other hand
some bigger issues would be the low teaching salaries, lack of funding for schools, and the
overall problem of dealing with the common core standards. Common core was established in
2010 to set a certain learning foundation in each state. Specifically, the foundation is to keep
every kid in America on a target goal and to be working at the same pace when the standards
came to the end of year testing. Many scholarly sources have recognized the issue and has brought
the subject into numerous articles. In the following review the sources will discuss the relationship
on how the CCSS affects the educational system in the teaching field.Literature Review In Jamie
Main s (2012) article the text goes into a discussion about the issues and concerns of the Common
Core State Standards (CCSS) on a global level. The concerns leads into a more specific issue of the
investment being overlooked for the standards, because most of the investments are not effective
for the development of the program. Throughout the article, Main s (2012) foremost perspective
was trying to emphasize the comprehension that the CCSS can be effective if there is structure. In

As With Any Other Comparative Analysis, This Essay Will
As with any other comparative analysis, this essay will discuss the similarities between two
elements. The elements in this situation are the Republic of Ireland and the United States of
America. The three specific ways that these two countries can be compared are via: economic and
political outlook, social and cultural issues, and resources and work culture. Additionally, each
country is known throughout the world. Primarily because of their business structure. The first
factor that will be addressed is economic and political outlook. To begin one will address the
political outlook of these two countries, and with that comes the form of government. Both are
republics. With the United Statesbeing a constitutional federal... Show more content on

1). Their duty is to speak to the government on behalf of a community and/or state. In the judicial
branch, both countries have a Supreme Court ( The World Factbook: IRELAND , 2017, Pg. 1).
Whose role is to hear legal cases of significant magnitude to the country and/or its citizens. One
key difference is that in Ireland the judges in the Supreme Court cannot serve past age 70 ,
whereas in the United States the judges are appointed for life ( The World Factbook: IRELAND
, 2017, Pg. 1). Hence, the age of justices varies between these two republics. These three major
branches of government can also overlap at times to provide a peaceful resolution or to resolve
active disputes. Now for the economic outlook of these two countries. This comparing, and
contrasting segment is more difficult than the political outlook. Since, these two countries do vary
quite significantly in terms of population and size. For instance, Ireland s population as of July
2016 was just below five million, which is incomparable to the roughly 324 million United States
population ( The World Factbook: IRELAND , 2017, Pg. 1). That means the Irish population could
be added about 65 times to reach the American population. However, these two nations do have
some similarities. First, both countries rely heavily on technology to propel their economic growth
and expansion. For Ireland has a talented pool of high tech laborers and

Describe The First Time At The Tea House
On a Saturday, I hiked up a mountain, holding a bouquet of flowers. I was heading to a small,
wooden teahouse. I have always loved the teahouse because of the fond memories it brought me.
The teahouse provided a calm, rustic environment. Immaculate wooden furniture, frosted windows
and staff clothed in classical Chinese costumes took me away from the large metropolis that is
Hong Kong to a nostalgically attractive, peaceful place.
I still recall the first time at the teahouse. It was a Sunday evening and a trio played classical
Chinese tunes as I sipped my tea alone, completely engrossed in thought. The tea I ordered gave
me some refreshment. It was smooth and sublime, with flavors of crisp apples and sun sweet
tangerines. As I was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I opened it and inside were flaky, puffy egg tarts suffused with a rich melange of custard.
I said, I have missed these very much in Texas, but I have missed you even more. I am very happy
that you came. I was worried that you would not remember me.
We rested on slabs of rock, having deep conversations about all that was happening in our lives.
We were so engrossed in conversation that we talked until sunset. We watched as a fiery crimson
orb of light gradually sank below the skyline and threads of light lingered in the sky, coloring it
orange, then red, then dark blue, until all that was left of the sunset was a chalky mauve and
then that melted away in turn as darkness stole the sky. The clouds parted and a lustrous, argent
disc appeared, emitting brilliant streaks of moonlight onto the dark grounds. I glanced over at
Linda, who was wondering at the night sky with an unwavering gaze. The fascination on her
face made her look the most beautiful I had ever seen her almost angelic. An unexpected surge of
warmth rushed through me. Linda and I were apart for four years and things around us changed,
yet one thing remained. I still loved her and she still loved me. Right then, I realized that our love
would never truly go away. I would always love her because we shared the best moments of our
lives together and will continue to make more lasting

Using Analytics More And More
The company I am with is beginning to use analytics more and more. We are on step 1 of the
five step process, so we still have a lot to learn and set goals on. We have just started using them
so that we can compete with the top dogs of the bank data processors. I believe that if we didn t
use analytics one of the big competitors would come in and try to buy out the company. We are
looking into ways to help use analytics so that we can strengthen our position in the service and
show that we can handle any size community bank. We have created a Business Intelligence
department to look into ways that we can improve products, forecast what a bank may buy when
signing a contract, and to see how to pitch our regulatory compliance products to other companies
to help them with their compliance. We are competing pretty well with the top 3 processors. We
have been told that when they hear we are negotiating to sign the same customeras them, they get
worried. They know we have a rock solid pitch and use analytics to back up our numbers along with
testimonials from other customers how our products have help them compete with the non
community banks, retain customers, and bring in the younger generation with the use of
technology. Without analytics, I feel that we would not be able to offer the banks what they needand
sell our other products to help them maintain the needed guidelines that keep changing.

How Reiki Is Considered As A Form Of Healing Essay
This assignment evaluates the topic of reiki, which is considered as a form of healing. To begin, it
provides a definition and highlights reiki s application in mainstream medicine. This forms
scientific assumptions of the use of the scientific method. This highlights credibility, methodology
and reliability as a precursor of application to public health. As a result, it firstly demonstrates
credibility through the process of gathering scientific facts from reliable sources. Journals are found
using the British Psychological Society (BPS) and PsycINFO. This subsequently provides
empirical research for critical review. Secondly, it explores methodology from a selection of these
journals. It includes the necessity of operational definitions, value and measurement, and construct
validity. Finally, it therefore demonstrates the reliability of results as scientific data, to infer robust
conclusions. This will provide the basis of the argument to evaluate if reiki is scienceor
pseudoscience. Reiki Application Firstly, reiki is described as an ancient Japanese form of
therapeutic healing (Baldwin, Rand Schwartz, 2013; Baldwin, Wagers Schwartz, 2008; Cuneo et
al., 2011; Diaz Rodriguez et al., 2011; Richeson, Spross, Lutz Peng, 2010; Shore, 2004). Its efficacy
claims to improve human welfare a shared perspective of many science applications (Anderson,
1998). Its mechanism is theorised as a natural phenomenon (National Center for Complementary

Management Style
As you may know, different management styles are required in different parts of the world. It is
important to choose the right management style for each situation, which is a key to success for an
organization. All managers use a management process which consists of planning, organizing,
leading and controlling. So they have to perform many roles in an enterprise. What they can do with
various situations will totally depend on their style of management. A management style is an
overall method of leadership used by a manager (Lessem et al, 1999). This essay will first
demonstrate different types of management styles, and then discuss three key factors that can
influence management style, with reference to Japan and America.
Each of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Japanese style takes a collective form of responsibility. Those manufactures produce high
product quality at a relatively lower cost (Alston, 1986). The reason is that this sense of collective
responsibility has positively affected the quality standards. Product quality is cooperatively
achieved by workers and managers. Japanese tend to believe the group is more important than the
individual (Alston, 1986). In terms of decision making, they probably attempt to gain consensus
even if it might require more time. As to Americans, who are almost self centered, they apparently
choose to make quick decisions on their own for immediate resolution (Anderson, 2009).
The second factor is staff belonging. The general principle of Japanese management is that
workers form a family (Alston, 1986). As a part of the corporate family , every member not only
pays attention to their own salaries, but also considers the development of the company. Pay is
only one reward. There is also a sense of belongingness and support that employees receive from
their corporations. On the contrary, Americans tend to indicate that there is no need for them to
become familiar with one organization and colleagues before they are off again on their trips
(Wellens, 1980). Perhaps individual freedom is more essential than staff belonging in their mind.
This different attitude leads to diverse management styles. One consequence for Japanese is the
practice of lifetime employment. The

proach to understanding the properties of persons (their traits, desires, abilities, interests) which is
not only very popular and historically important, but also intuitively plausible. It begins with a
division of human properties into three categories. Natural properties are those persons have in
virtue of being members of a natural kind, and they originate in the structures definitive of the
species. Other propertiesare unnatural, in that they result from abnormal structures. And some
properties are nonnatural (or social) in that they represent replacements, modifications, or extensions

This . . . will remain true . . . as long as social institutions do not admit the same free development
of originality in women which is possible to men. When that time comes . . . we shall see . . . as
much as it is necessary to know of the nature of women. quot;5
Note that Mill speaks of the quot;free quot; development of women. In the history of philosophy a
social doctrine has usually been attached to those ontological and epistemological theses, the
doctrine that persons are free (or have freedom) to the extent that they are not constrained, either
in their behavior or in their development, by social influences. The liberal doctrine of quot;equal
maximal liberty, quot; then, is both a methodological rule for the discovery of the natural as well
as a political principle limiting one sort of social influence. Mill elaborates and defends the
political doctrine in On Liberty and employs it in The Subjection of Women, which also contains
the epistemology. Another statement of the corollary from the latter work more clearly connects
the discovery of the natural with freedom: quot;no one can safely pronounce that if women s
nature were left to choose its direction as freely as men s, and

Internet Shaming Jessica Bennett is stating that Internet fame has a dark side and how
becoming internet famous may not be great. There will always be backlash for any type of
fame, so it s to be expected with internet fame. Jessica lists many examples that backup her
opinion on internet fame. The first example is about Ghyslain Raza. Raza recorded himself
preforming an imaginary battle with a lightsaber. About a year later, someone finds his recording
and posted it online which resulted in the video going viral globally. Since the video had been
posted, the video has been watched over 32 billion times. Raza immediately became famous, and

people will believe the accuser not the accused. Jessica compares internet shaming to that of
Ancient Romans and how they branded criminals on the forehead for the crime they committed, or
how colonial American would force adulterers to wear a scarlet A. The comparison between
internet shaming and ancient public shaming doesn t work. Yes, nothing disappears from the

When the two men come face to face they are both shot from below establishing that there they
are both strong figures, which is an important film noir tactic. The other officers around them are
shot at eye level. The tension between them begins with a racial comment from Quinlin stating
that Vargas doesn t sound like a Mexican. When Vargas reassures Quinlin that he wont he won t
have any trouble with him, Quinlin responds with, you bet your sweet life I wont. The shot ends
with a second of silence focused from below on Quinlin s shadowed face. The use of shadows is
also a key element of film noir, which helps to create the dark and mysterious world that
surrounds the characters. Quinlin increasingly represents a common character in film noir.
Although he is a strong character in the eyes of his fellow officers, he is portrayed as a loner who
has become disillusioned and insecure. His scenes with Tanya Tana (Marlene Deitrich) are
revealing of Quinlin s past and his downward spiral since then. She comments that she didn t

physically deteriorated since they were at one time involved. As the film goes on Quinlin falls back
into drinking and spends the later part of the film completely intoxicated. Although Tanya acts

Gender Roles In Middlemarch
The Portrayal of the Relationship between the Sexes in George Eliot s Middlemarch
George Eliot s epic Victorian novel Middlemarch is a fascinating study into the lives, characters
and connections of the residents of a fictional provincial midlands town. It deals with the
constraints of everyday life, the struggles both external and internal experienced by the very
realistically drawn characters and how they act and react to them. It is set during the period of the
early 1830 s, a critical juncture historically when Britain was on the cusp of change politically,
industrially, technologically and economically. Middlemarchcandidly portrays the evolving stark
contrasts between the male and female protagonists in the novel and the particular roles ... Show

While her female characters are mainly strong women they all display a large level of
compliance to the will of their menfolk. Women in the nineteenth century were financially,
intellectually and emotionally dependent upon their male kin (Gleadle, 2001, 51). They were
expected to provide unstinting support for the head of the house, i.e. the man. Women did not
have a formal role in Victorian society and were legally subject to their husbands in all things but
Eliot in Middlemarch manages to imbue her female protagonists with a sense of stoicism that
renders them a force to be reckoned with, especially if their marriages are under any threat.
Robert McCrum in The Guardian described it thus Middlemarch looms above the mid Victorian

Disadvantages Of Steam Irons
If you love light and bright, you will be friends for a long time with the Panasonic NI E660SR.
This Panasonic model is eye catching, not really because of dashing looks, but because of its
unique shape and color combination. Like most Panasonic models, it has a U shaped design and a
curved sole plate. This design allows for pressure to be concentrated at the center of the sole plate
during ironingwhich allows easier movement of the iron and less tugging. The U shaped design
allows steam to be evenly distributed around the sole plate for efficiency in ironing. As for color,
the Panasonic NI E660SR comes in dazzling white with a splash of magenta .
The handle is just basic plastic, there is nothing fancy. It does not have a comfort grip like the

Essay on The Physics of a Toilet
The Physics of a Toilet
Almost everyone in America has used, is using at this very moment or will use a flushable,
indoor toilet. Their privacy, and in some cases cleanliness, are taken for granted day by day. The
basic physics of siphoning, and the right amount of water, makes the toilet operate in our desired
fashion. This has been the concept of toilets for over 200 years. Some questions do come to mind
when witnessing this event; how does the water and waste get sucked out of the toilet bowl? Why
does the water get sucked out in a spinning motion? Does it matter which side of the hemisphere
creates a certain trend of spin in the water? These phenomena are more common than one may
think, these things happen through a variety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bowl siphon is the one mechanism that makes the flushing feat possible. It s the gooseneck
section leading from the toilet bowl to the sewage pipes. According to the online
howstuffworks.com, the siphon is Any pipe, hose or tube that is used to move a liquid from a
higher location to a lower location. The actual design of the siphon is dependent on the effect
caused by it. The function also depends on the amount of water being transferred to the toilet
bowl at one given moment. The tank of the toilet contains approximately 2 gallons (7.6 liters) of
water, when all of that water is moved to the toilet bowl in a matter of seconds, all of the water
going down the pipe creates the siphon effect, sucking everything out of the toilet. If I were to
dump a cup of water, or 25 cups (6 liters) of water for that matter, it would not be enough to create
the siphon effect. The water would only spill over in the mechanism and drain itself to be level with
the highest point of the gooseneck bowl siphon. Doctor Louis A. Bloomfield, at the online site
physicscentral.com, explains that the siphon effect works with the combination of water and
gravity at their finest. H2O has its own variety of different potential energies.
Gravitational potential energy is at work all night, all day, and every second in between, while water
has its own potential energy due to having either low or high pressure. Water s total potential energy
includes gravitational potential

Predicting Life Expectancy
The quest to prolong our youth continues today, though not through lengthy field explorations, but
through improvements in health, nutrition, and medicine. A healthy diet, regular exercise, and
vaccinations can greatly improve an individual s life expectancy, while an outbreak of disease,
malnutrition, and social unrest can drastically lower an individual s life expectancy.
But how are life expectancies affected on a national level?
While these factors are central to living longer, they alone cannot be the only facets. The social and
economic conditions of each country will undoubtedly affect its citizens, their lifestyles and

Methodology
To determine the best model, I used the standard regression equation:
Y=О±+ ОІ1X1 +ОІ2X2+ОІ3X3+ ....+ ОІ6X6
I check that the data is independent and identically distributed with a mean that follows the
regression equation above, and a constant variance.
Using the F test and partial F test, I drop input variables from the model that do not provide much
additional information over the other variables. Finally, I determine a model that has only
significant variables and a reasonable R squared. R squared is a measure of how well the model
explains the response variable. For example, if R squared is 99%, then 99% of the variation in the
response variable can be explained by variation in the input variables.
Results
First, I regress Y on all of the input variables, which produces the following output:
Overall, this model does provide some information that can be used to

Empire Builders Essay
What are some of the disadvantages, problems or difficulties experienced by Empire builders?

Empires with their self prophesied title, innately express the notion of expansion! Builders of
empires through the ages have consistently shown the somewhat insatiable need to expand! It is
this notion of expansion or more specifically the necessity for it (Leroy Beaulieu, 1891), that seems
a continual challenge for empire builders to control and therefore sustain. As an empire expands the
ability to sustain, regulate and control its realm, provides continual challenges for local economies.
With an obsession for treasures and profits over social health and sustainability (McClintock, 1995),
How, despite their good intentions did the British ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

able to gain great wealth and power through monopolisation of commodities and industry.
Unfortunately because of the autonomy allowed to the elites (also enhanced by ideals of race
supremacy and hierarchal traditions), they became entrenched in ideology and bureaucracy
escaping the critique that was necessary for accountability and appropriate regulation. The
economic hub became a great arena where private savings were mobilised for investment

High Levels Of Competitiveness And Hyper Competitiveness
Thornton, Ryckman, and Gold (2011) theorize that high levels of competitiveness or hyper
competitiveness would have a significant influence over achievement striving and impatience and
irritability. It was further hypothesized that personal development competitiveness would be
correlated with achievement striving but not with impatience or irritability. Hyper competitiveness
was defined as competitiveness with others while personal development competitiveness was
correlated with competing with oneself for self improvement. Three hundred and four participants
were administered the Hyper competitive Attitude Scale, the Personal Development Competitive
Attitude Scale, and the Type A Behavior Pattern Inventory. The results of the study indicated that
Type A individuals who were hyper competitive were more likely to demonstrate the irritable and
impatient aspects of Type A personality. They were also less likely to demonstrate positive
correlations with achievement strings including academic achievement. In contrast, people with
high levels of Personal Development Competitiveness were more likely to show high level
achievement strings including academic achievements and were less likely to demonstrate
impatience or irritability. Thornton, Ryckman, and Gold (2011) argue that this demonstrates that
while some aspects of Type A personality and competitiveness have a positive effect on academic
achievement and other types of achievement strings some can be highly detrimental to

Women Injecting Drug Users ( Widus )
Women injecting drug users (WIDUs) in Tanzania face significant risks to drug related harms that
require specific gender appropriate responses. The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
disproportionately infects WIDUs at a rate 55 68% higher compared to their male counterparts
(Ratliff et al., 2013). In Tanzania, drugrelated harm reductioncurrently exists by means of needle
and syringe programs (NSPs) and opioid substitution therapy (OST) (UNAIDS, 2016). Despite
the presence of these harm reduction approaches; research indicates that only 8 10% of the
people who utilize the services are women (Lambdin et al., 2013; Zamudio Haas, Mahenge,
Saleem, Mbwambo, Lambdin, 2016). Reluctances of utilizing harm reduction services are largely
tied to several specific factors concerning the unaddressed needs of women. In a number of
studies, intense stigma and discrimination were noted as strong deterrents for WIDUs seeking any
kind of harm reduction or addiction treatment (Alam mehrjerdi et al., 2016, Lambdin, et al., 2013;
Torchalla, Linden, Strehlau, Neilson, Krausz, 2014, Zamudio Haas et al., 2016). In Tanzania,
WIDUs reported intense stigma especially in medical settings when seeking reproductive
treatment (Zamudio Haas et al., 2016). Gender inequalities and the exposure to violence and abuse
in WIDUs have further impeded access to harm reduction services (Alam mehrjerdi et al., 2016,

Meat Loaf s Album Bat Out Of Hell
Meat Loaf s album Bat Out Of Hell was released in 1977, and is considered by many as an iconic
album cover. In 2001, it was rated 71st in Q Magazine s listing of The 100 Best Album Covers of
All Time . Singer Meat Loaf and composer Jim Steinman commissioned the cover artwork from the
renowned comic artist Richard Corben, best known for his sci fi and fantasy work. Corben s
illustration effectively advertises the albums contents to the target audience as well as creating the
beginnings of a visual identity for Meat Loaf.
The illustration was designed to fit the size and shape of an album cover measuring 12.375 inches
square. The original artwork was painted on a 24 inch square canvas board using oil and acrylic
paint. Designing an illustration to fit these precise dimensions can be challenging as you are limited

The Current State Of America s Meat Industry
Key to the current state of America s meat industry, according to Michael Pollan, author of The
Omnivore s Dilemma, is the fact that it is primarily hidden from the consumer. The consumer, as
well as corporations, have chosen to build walls instead of demanding transparency. The general
public and journalists are not permitted to enter abattoirs of many corporations, leaving the
judgement of how animals should be slaughtered to the businesses themselves. State and federal
regulations are not often put into practice as they should be, enabling the corporation to decide
what is humane and what is not. Handing this judgement to a profit organisation enables the
corporation to find the most efficient and most lucrative system, ignoring... Show more content on

Pollan argues that transparency in the meat industry would hold businesses accountable to
regulations and to the desires of the consumer as well as preventing the abuse of our natural
resources. Pollan s statement in Omnivore s Dilemma, No other country raises and slaughters its
food animals quite as intensively or as brutally as we do , is not a claim to fame for the USA.
Many Americans would not necessarily agree with this statement because they are ignorant of the
system, they have chosen not to see what really happens to the animals they eat every day.
Corporations have been permitted to pursue profit irrespective of the cost. Pollan explores the
issue by discovering what he would consider the wrong ways as well as the right ways to slaughter
animals for their meat. In his effort to find the right way, when working on Polyface farm, Pollan
dreaded being a part of processing the chickens. Yet, he knew that because he ate meat, he needed
an education in the reality of killing animals. He could not go on as a meat eater if he was not
willing to be fully acquainted with what having meat on a dinner plate entails. By killing a chicken
and coming to terms with how that made him feel, he could develop a personal insight into the
ethics of eating animals. Pollan intended to continue eating meat but he could not ignore his own
ethical quandary when faced with throwing the chicken guts into the compost. He

The Notebook And The Last Song Essay
The famous Nicholas Sparks novels The Notebook and The Last Song are based on non fictional
events, while Rapunzel is a fictional short story fully based on fairytale. Although these are two
different genres, all three pieces share a common story line and even the same themes. The story
line, like any princess fairytale or romantic novel involves two people who fall in lovebut go
through many obstacles to be together. However, in the end, they live happily ever after. The two
themes that these three pieces of literature have in common are determination and fate. Throughout
this paper you will see this story line and those themes unfold.
We hear determination in our everyday lives, no matter our age nor our location. Although we may
hear this constantly, determination is something very hard to obtain. For these stories, the word
determination is nothing but known and relived constantly through the character s lives. In
addition to determination, we hear the word fate constantly. We ve heard this growing up through
watching any and every Disney movie out there, including Rapunzel . The definition, according
to Wikipedia, is as followed: be destined to happen, turn out, or act in a particular way. Everyone
is born with a fate, we are all here on this earth for a different purpose and fate. We just don t know
our fate as we go through life, just like these characters.

Transnational Corporations Essay
Transnational corporations are companies who s business activities have an influence on
economic, social, and environmental outcomes in more than one country. There are some
similarities in principles, expectations, and motives between countries regarding these matters,
however there are also some differences too. This makes it vital for companies to consider these
issues, in order to be socially responsible on an international scale as well as a national scale.
(Boddy 2012) states that corporate social responsibilityrefers to the awareness, acceptance and
management of the wider responsibilities of organisations . Producers and suppliers to
transnational corporations are in some cases regarded as a wider responsibility of transnational
corporations, as it is the dealings between the two parties that lights up a variety of topics to
review. The aim of this piece of work is to talk about the main factors that transnational
corporations need to consider when dealing with producers and suppliers, and their respective
communities, in order to be socially responsible, by reviewing previous literature of accredited
scholars and researchers. This involves the fairness of how transnational corporations deal with
producers and suppliers, and also, the thoughts towards exploitation of labour by suppliers in poor
countries.
Treating producers in a fair way is a topic, which many believe is a responsibility of transnational
corporations. The coffee sector is an example, where

The Belgians had colonized The Congo for its natural resources like many other western powers
at the time that aimed for no more than have dominion on every creature that moved upon this

Methuselah was kept in a cage by the humans against its will only because it was a weaker

says something, Nathan Price gets mad and inquires which one of [the daughters] taught [it] to

the country could not cope up with it even after half a century. The country remains poor and
divided as it is not used to work on its own and enjoy the freedom of living. The same happens

Methuselah had forgotten what freedom feels like and it goes and then it comes back because its

Huygens Accomplishments
While he was not observing the stars, one problem that plagued Huygens throughout his life was
that of time. In 1658, he was the first to build a pendulum clock the first great step towards modern
timekeeping (Magill et. al.). He published the schematics and his speculations about future
improvements in his Horologium in 1658. While this solved the problem of keeping time, one of the
most important applications of this technology continually evaded him. In order to reliably
determine ones latitude while at sea, some form of accurate timekeeping is needed. As a citizen of
the Dutch Republic, whose economy was heavily dependent on shipping via the sea, Huygens was
especially desperate to solve this problem. However, when he sought to apply... Show more content

Huygens was one of the first scientists to recognize that the speed of light must necessarily be a
finite quantity, and from this he was able to determine a kinematic theory of light. The theory
details spherical waves which emanate at the speed of light (which Huygens did not explicitly
define other than saying that it was a finite quantity) in uniform wave fronts. Huygens spherical
light waves propagated in a longitudinal fashion, and thus must necessarily have a medium
through which to propagate. Huygens envisioned this ether was composed of tiny, closely spaced,
elastic particles, which vibrate and pass on the waves of light (Charles). However, not all of
Huygens contemporaries agreed with his formulation of the wave nature of light. Isaac Newton, in
particular, was a vocal opponent of his theory in favor of his own corpuscular theory of light.
Huygens, as stated in his Ebscohost Biography: ...regarded the transmission of such particles
through empty space to be mere Newtonian action at a distance again and incompatible with a
mechanistic view of nature . However, Newton s prominence at the time meant that Huygens s
theory of light remained relatively unknown until mid 19th century, when it was rediscovered and
eventually reformulated into what we now know as the Maxwell

African American Women And The Collective Psyche Of...
African American women have been purposefully written out of visual history with the

yourself by accident... And, you see yourself from the outside... That s who you really are... That
question captured my wondering eleven year old mind and immediately pulled me into the

looking LED lighting solution that can cut energy usage in half for a typical ski resort. Although
slope lighting is not a big issue for many ski resorts, the ones who offer night skiing can benefit
tremendously. By reducing energy use by half and ski resort can now invest that half into other
sustainable projects and further their steps to becoming an environmentally friendly resort. These
lights also reduce light pollution by having a 120 degree angle of light and ability to concentrate
the beam to certain areas. Compared to the usual gas light bulbs used today whose light direction
is 360 degrees with little control over where the light can be directed. The difference is
remarkable with visibility as well. The Arctic Beam puts out light which can be registered more
readily by the human eye then light emitted by the gas bulbs. This creates a safer skiing and riding
zone by increasing typical night

Rapid Performance Appraisal
Once rapid response statistics, literature research, and evaluation of SAHS protocols were
acknowledged, the application of interventions was initiated. The first intervention performed was
establishing a power point presentation for new nursing graduates and new hires with information
on current rapid response procedure containing best practice and statistical evidence. By
collaborating with stakeholders and assembling the information gathered in the planning stages, a
power point presentation was generated. The presentation was applied to multiple new hires and
new graduate orientations to educate the incoming staff members of the rapid response system. The
reasoning for educating the incoming employees to the current rapid response practice... Show more

Two diverse surveys were created and labeled A and B. The targeted hospital community was
nurses, charge nurses, new graduates, certified nurses, and other medical professionals. Survey A
was produced for all medical professional to receive hospital specific information about the rapid
response system by its main operators. Survey A consisted of seven different questions on the
current rapid response system effectiveness, how to make the resource more efficient, any barriers,
more education to implement, reasoning for calling, and using a nurse as a consultation. This
particular survey generated 40 replies from different medical professionals within the hospital.
Questions on the survey ranged from subjective to quantifiable data feedback dependent on the
question. On survey A, the question asked how to make the rapid response more efficient. The
feedback for this answer was subjective with staff members stating encourage it more , more
education , and need to use it sooner rather than later (citation). A different question was asked on
the barriers of initiation. Employees stated, lack of knowledge, current call system is not quick
enough nor efficient, fear of calling, and not knowing how to call a rapid response

My Autobiography
As a kid, I was always extremely talkative. So talkative that teachers would get on to me. Teachers
would say so many different things to me, but I never let it bother me. The most common thing
they would say would be like, Kate, quit talking and go move to a different seat.
Usually, I would respond back with, Okay in an annoyed tone, because all I wanted to do was talk.
I would still find a way to talk to someone else, but after a while, I would hear my teacher say my
name again.
Kate this is your last chance to quit talking or else you re going to the office or I m going to be
calling your mom, they would say.
Okay, I would quietly respond back.
Throughout the years as I go little older I started caring about the little things people would say
about me. Like one of the little things that would bother me was when some of my friends or
even some classmate would point out how I have an accent, or how I would do things differently
than them. I became very subconscious about my speaking every single time I would talk because
I felt like everyone would be paying close attention to it. I didn t realize that as a kid that having an
accent would be that noticeable to others. Suddenly my life took a turn when I entered 5th
grade. It started out great. I had a few friends that I could communicate and hang out with, but as
weeks gone by I started to become like a closed door. I rarely said a word to any of my friends. The
most I would have talked was probably a sentence or two

What I Learned New Imagery And Pedagogies Into My Dance...
I initially took Jazz III because it is required for my dance minor; I also hoped to gain a better
understanding of the Jazz Technique. Throughout this course I achieved the goals that I set at the
beginning of the semester. My goals were to be very confident doing double pirouettes and
comfortable doing triple pirouettes. I also wanted to focus on being a more conscious turner and
dancer. I pushed myself to break my habit of just going for pirouette and hoped that it all worked
out. Each class I learned new imagery and pedagogies that have been extremely beneficial to my
dancecareer. A few images and pedagogies that resonated were the idea of my pelvis being an
elevator, taking my pelvis with me, especially when doing battement s, and understanding the
placement of a turned in passГ©. I have already taken and applied the goals, imagery, and
pedagogies into my dance career. At first, I was concerned with such varied levels but
throughout the course I felt challenged in the Jazz III/I class. Jazz III is required for dance
minors to complete. I was excited to take this course because I wanted to expand my Jazz
Technique. Throughout the course I have learned a lot about the Jazz Technique and Vernacular.
Before this course I had never done a grand pГle in parallel. I also learned how to do turns from
second position, which was new to me. This course made me feel more comfortable performing
and having fun with Jazz Dance. In the past, I have felt timid performing Jazz

The Importance Of Stakeholder Inclusion On Agricultural...
1.2 Enumerating the importance of stakeholder inclusion in agricultural innovation system
Devaux et al. (2009) noted that the involvement of stakeholders in agricultural innovation systems
have enhanced rapid diffusion, adoption, development of knowledge and technological output.
Consequently, the active involvement of stakeholders in agricultural innovation system has been
integral in enhancing sustainable growth in agriculture (Ojijo et al., 2013). Correspondingly, the
collaboration of diverse heterogeneous stakeholders bring about active interaction, strong linkages
and effective communication. (Ojijo et al., 2013). Also, it facilitates knowledge development
among actors by helping them in identifying their challenges and opportunities by building
coherence through dialogues in setting priorities (Klerkx et al., 2012b). Furthermore, the
stakeholders participation allow actors to voice their needs and concerns in the process of design
and implementation (Birner et al., 2009). Also, it brings the closeness of farmers to other actors,
thereby facilitating large scale production and high marketability. Moreover, the stakeholders
involvement in agricultural innovation system influence their decision and direction of production,
market formation and resource mobilization (Anandajayasekeram, 2011). Also, their participation
brings about better leveraging of human and capital resources for reduction of the transaction costs
and reaching economies of scale (Klerkx et

Comparison of Three Alternative Bolus Materials to Superflab in Providing Max Dose Build Up
Radiation therapy is a type of treatment modality that administers radiation to patients with cancer.
This form of treatment has many components that contribute toward ensuring that radiation
therapists adequately treat the malignant tissue within the body. One of the major components in
radiation therapy is the use of bolus. Bolus is a material that doctors place on the skin to help bring
the radiation dose higher to the skin surface within the patient (Khan, 2012). Since there are not any
research studies in the radiation oncology field which compare alternative bolus materials in
providing maximum dose build up, the purpose of this study is to close ... Show more content on

The Multi Unit Restaurant Business
In 2010, the U.S. restaurant and contract foodservice industry was a $600 billion industry with
960,000 locations.1 Multi unit restaurant concepts represented approximately 30% of the industry
by units, with independent operators as the balance. The restaurant and foodservice industry was
highly fragmented, and even industry giant McDonald s generated just 2% of total revenues.
Multi unit concepts were generally categorized into three industry segments:
Specialty Establishments like Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, and Baskin Robbins primarily served
snacks and beverages under $5.
Quick Service Restaurants, or so called fast food concepts like McDonald s, Taco Bell, and
Wendy s, provided counter or drive through service with average tickets between $4 and $10.
Casual Dining included brands like Olive Garden, Applebee s, and Outback, and offered table
service for dinner entrees priced between $8 and $20. Within this group, fine dining concepts like
Ruth s Chris and Capital Grille featured entrГ©es into the $40 range.
While some concepts had bridged these categories for years (e.g., Friendly s offered casual dining
coupled with a strong takeaway ice cream business), more recently several concepts had clustered
around an emerging category often called Quick Casual. For example, Panda Express

Summary Of Patterns By Amy Lowell Patterns
Amy Lowell was a leader of the Imagists movement. She was influenced by John Keats and
gathered a selection of his works. Lowell began to write after her brothers published books of
their own, but she focused on poetry. The detail in Lowell s poetry related to describing and
environment or a person could help the reader better understand what is happening in the poem
and include the reader as if they were actually there experiencing what the narrator or speaker is
experiencing. Her choices develop a bigger picture than what the poem is actually saying. Amy
Lowellhelped to change the thought process when reading poetry. Amy Lowell s Patterns is a very
good example of imagery being used to draw the reader s attention. This poem is filled with so
many bright and vivid colors and different moods that it attracts the reader. Each stanzashows a
different scene or a different moment in the same area and exuding different emotions to share
that moment and feeling. The first two stanzas and the last three stanzas are in the present, while
the third and fourth stanzas are flashbacks or memories she is having as she remembers her lost
lover. The title Patterns refers to the gown that the speaker is wearing, the different flowers in the
garden, the paths that are in the garden, and the war that the speaker mentions towards the end of
the poem. In the first stanza, the speaker is walking through the garden and she notices the wind
blowing on the flowers causing them to move or sway. She continues walking through the garden
in her stiff but beautifully embroidered gown. She has white hair and a fan embellished with
jewels. She states that she has a unique design. The mood in this stanza seems calm or content
but a little uncomfortable. The second stanza she is still walking along the path in the garden and
her train is dragging on the ground behind her covering the path and the plants along the sides.
Her ensemble is currently in style and so are her shoes. She only shows confidence while wearing
her corset and gown. She slowly takes a seat under the lime tree, although the corset makes it
difficult and uncomfortable to sit, she sits anyway. She watches the flowers swing in the breeze
wanting to be able to do

Can A Motive Be A Theme
Even though Motive and theme are two distinct terms that describe two different kinds of melodic
units in music, a motive can still be a theme. To explain this in more detail, first one would have to
define each of the terms. Motive is defined by what a composer is trying to communicate through
their musical work. A motive is but a component of a theme. A theme being according to The
Enjoyment of Music textbook a melodic idea in a large scale work (Chapter 6). So how exactly
can a motive be a theme? Motives are key in order to create an overall theme in a musical
composition. Without motives, a theme cannot exist. A motive in itself is just smaller themes
broken into smaller melodic units. If the motives have the same ideas as the theme,

Asch Conformity Research Paper
Conformity is Key
Back in the year 1951, a psychologist by the name of Solomon Asch first began to investigate the
theory of conformity. He opened up a whole new door in the field of psychology and his findings
later influenced many other great psychologists such as Stanley Milgram (Slater 40) . Asch s
experiments made many heads turn and scientists began to wonder more and more about the human
brain. However, I think the biggest question with Asch s Conformityexperiment would be: With so
many small flaws, could his work really be considered credible in today s society?
First off I ll explain a little of what the Asch conformity experiments really conducted of. In each
experiment, an innocent minded subject was put in a room with many other participants that were
actually actors in the experiment. The subjects that were tested were told that they were taking part
in a vision test. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is shown in multiple studies that women are slightly more susceptible to conform because
they feel a higher need to be accepted in society (Vaughan Hogg 2013). While this is true, the
conformity distinction between male and female relies upon familiarities. For instance if you
are asking women to name a type of wrench, they are more likely to go along with the group s
answer because a wrench is more of a masculine object. It works the same way with men: If you
were to ask men to name a specific type of needlework, they d be more likely to conform because
they are unfamiliar with objects more feminine. However, if you were to ask both men and women
about something neutral (i.e. a famous person) usually the percent of conformity would be rather
equal, except maybe a little higher with

Having to move to a new country can cause a cultural shock, with this cultural shock, comes
Language barriers. Many immigrants and refugees are faced with language barriers upon entry into
a new country Language barriers causes an immense amount of difficulties and make simple day to
day interactions seem impossible. More often immigrants and refugees get to Canada with a little to
less fluent grasp of English. Employments, transportations, and even receiving assistance in both
areas is more daunting without a good grasp of English. Immigrants and refugees worry that their
foreign accent and cultural traits will make them seem too different. Immigrants and refuges to
Canada bring a vast amount of benefits that will be beneficial to the Canadian economy, society,
and the country has a whole, this is overlooked because the English language skills of these
immigrants and refugees is often too dwelled on. Refugees and Immigrant parents are usually
disadvantaged and disfavored in terms of finding a meaningful employment because of their English
proficiency levels. Despite most immigrants and refugees have enough knowledge of the English
language, if it is not their first language, they are faced with communication struggles on their
arrival to Canada.

The Decline Of The Ottoman Empire
How the Decline of the Ottoman Empire Led to the Armenian Genocide
Extended Essay in History

May 2016

Through the investigation of the changes occurring from the first European presence in the Muslim
world to the end of the Ottoman Empire, this essay attempts to answer why the Armenian
genocide occurred. The Ottoman Empire started its decline when Napoleon entered Egypt in
1798. Napoleon brought along with him armies but also a new culture. The British did the same
with Moghul India. The elite and people in positions of power were impressed by what the
Europeans and the Americans were doing and seeing how powerful and successful they were. The
Turks in the Ottoman Empire wanted the same. The Young Turks overthrew the Sultan of the time
and started a reform of the Ottoman Empire to try to salvage it. The Young Turks also believed
that all people regardless of religion or ethnicity deserved the same rights.
The Armenians were one of the ethnicities that were in the minority. They obtained more rights
when the policy was put in place. Before the Armenians received their right they were rebelling
against the Ottomans. This was frightening to the majority. Massacres of the minorities, especially
the Armenians started well before 1915, but the killings progressed in 1915. Many of the
Armenians were deported and forced to leave their homes. In 1915

Who Is Hulu s Target Market
Companies always reshape their product to grow or to obtain their goal. Now multiple
companies are buying one another to get a better reach of their target market. The first article
from Advertising Age states that Hulu will stop offering TV shows for free. That is quite
daunting for the users you range from all ages especially millennials who are the main users. The
streaming service is discarding its free platform that provided streaming viewers with a library of
hundreds of movies, TV shows, and clips since 2007. Hulu s decision to terminate free streaming
is a major step as it tries to gain more traction against other streaming video sites, such as Netflix,

It is drastic because when Hulu was announced back in 2005 the cable companies weren t too
happy about another platform getting all the views. Now they are on board with cable cutting.
And that new, live TV service just got a ton more channels: CNN, TBS, Cartoon Network, TNT,
and more. Not a bad haul! Alongside that buy in is the guarantee of Time Warner s many TV
channels and the content they produce to Hulu s live TV offering. Time Warner is far from the
first major TV content creator to hook up with Hulu s live TV service. NBCUniversal, Disney,
and Fox are all in talks with Hulu to offer channels on the new service. There are still lots of
questions about the new service, like when exactly it will launch and how much it ll cost. Rumors
put the service at between $30 and $40/month, with an expected launch in early 2017. The two
articles are related because they depict Hulu s future and their reshaping of their

youngest children. It s 2016 and the children are excited to visit their vacation home that they

stay throughout the year; some of them, like the family of Geraldo and Celia, will be staying only
for the berry season, which lasts for about three months. Geraldo, Celia, and their daughter Iris

Unfortunately, the hazards that MSFWs are exposed to have not been addressed thoroughly by
policymakers. There are still clear threats to the health and safety of MSFWs on a daily basis.
Farmwork is laborious, but the rates of injury and illness seen in the MSFW population are too
high to merely attribute to dangers of the profession. MSFWs have lower life expectancies than
the general population, and have an incidence of infant mortality that is two times higher than
the national average, according to David M. Carne s Hispanic and Farmworker Health: A
Community Health Survey of Hood River County, Oregon (Carne 11). The increased infant
mortality rate (IMR) is particularly concerning, as infants aren t participating in farmwork,
meaning that the high IMR is likely from a lack of access to healthcare infrastructure. Most
MSFWs do not have healthcare, which could be influenced by the numbers of undocumented
MSFWs who cannot get healthcare in the US, but we do not currently know how many
undocumented farmworkers there actually are. Sometimes MSFWs lack the education or
literacy to pursue healthcare less than 50% of MSFWs with citizenship have graduated from
high school (Arcury). The high mortality rates seen in MSFWs could also be partially caused
by a poor standard of living Carne s survey reported that the average annual salary of a seasonal
farmworker is $6,500 (Carne 11). $6,500 is an extremely low income that indubitably affects the
quality of one s life and the resources available to them. Oregon fails at protecting all of its
inhabitants if it cannot address the systemic problems in agriculture that allow families to face
conditions such as these. It is hard to believe that when a portion of a population faces IMRs that
are twice as high as the rest of the population, nothing is done to remedy

  • 2. Greek Statue Analysis The second option on the power point displays a Greek statue from between the 4th and 2nd century CE. The sculpture is in the round and is made of a bronze cast with copper inlays. The art piece depicts a man sitting on a rock with his hands draped over his lap, his head peering up and a size of 4 ft 2 inches. The pose of the adult man is sitting down, with his legs splayed and his elbows balancing on top of his knees. His arms are then somewhat draped between his legs with his hands placed over one another. In order to have his elbows touch his thighs, he is sitting hunched and then has his chest slightly twisted as he is looking up and peering over his right shoulder. One interesting observation to see is that his feet aren t firmly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We can see the prominence of the muscles with carefully articulated body parts. The artist paid careful attention to human anatomy when creating this statue. He was also sure to follow the idealized body the Hellenistic period with pronounced muscle and large feet. Another convention of the Hellenistic period is how animated he is, with his pose and expression being very dynamic. He is also in good proportion and is accurate to the natural human form. We see that the chest and torso are a little under 2/3rd s the 50 sculpture. This would make his chest around 30 inches (2 and a half feet) which would be considered average for males making this sculpture life size. The man also has a beard and curly locks of hair. This is the most stylized part of the rendering, as the way the hair is clumped is into sections and is symmetrical on both sides of the head. This choice is likely made because of the difficulty of interpreting hair on a sculpture. Also, the hair is noticeably the only part of the body with an exception to the smooth texture, attracting our eye towards his face. This is because the texture of the beard is made with deep, wavy grooves to show strands of hair. Lastly, on the face, we notice the eye sockets are empty, this is likely due to glass marbles or some other material once filling the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Education And Teaching Field In the education and teaching field there are countless amounts of issues that occur on an everyday bases, whether the issues are big or small. For instance, some of the minor issues would be the lack of parent support, technology, and poor attendance rates. On the other hand some bigger issues would be the low teaching salaries, lack of funding for schools, and the overall problem of dealing with the common core standards. Common core was established in 2010 to set a certain learning foundation in each state. Specifically, the foundation is to keep every kid in America on a target goal and to be working at the same pace when the standards came to the end of year testing. Many scholarly sources have recognized the issue and has brought the subject into numerous articles. In the following review the sources will discuss the relationship on how the CCSS affects the educational system in the teaching field.Literature Review In Jamie Main s (2012) article the text goes into a discussion about the issues and concerns of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) on a global level. The concerns leads into a more specific issue of the investment being overlooked for the standards, because most of the investments are not effective for the development of the program. Throughout the article, Main s (2012) foremost perspective was trying to emphasize the comprehension that the CCSS can be effective if there is structure. • 4. As With Any Other Comparative Analysis, This Essay Will As with any other comparative analysis, this essay will discuss the similarities between two elements. The elements in this situation are the Republic of Ireland and the United States of America. The three specific ways that these two countries can be compared are via: economic and political outlook, social and cultural issues, and resources and work culture. Additionally, each country is known throughout the world. Primarily because of their business structure. The first factor that will be addressed is economic and political outlook. To begin one will address the political outlook of these two countries, and with that comes the form of government. Both are republics. With the United Statesbeing a constitutional federal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1). Their duty is to speak to the government on behalf of a community and/or state. In the judicial branch, both countries have a Supreme Court ( The World Factbook: IRELAND , 2017, Pg. 1). Whose role is to hear legal cases of significant magnitude to the country and/or its citizens. One key difference is that in Ireland the judges in the Supreme Court cannot serve past age 70 , whereas in the United States the judges are appointed for life ( The World Factbook: IRELAND , 2017, Pg. 1). Hence, the age of justices varies between these two republics. These three major branches of government can also overlap at times to provide a peaceful resolution or to resolve active disputes. Now for the economic outlook of these two countries. This comparing, and contrasting segment is more difficult than the political outlook. Since, these two countries do vary quite significantly in terms of population and size. For instance, Ireland s population as of July 2016 was just below five million, which is incomparable to the roughly 324 million United States population ( The World Factbook: IRELAND , 2017, Pg. 1). That means the Irish population could be added about 65 times to reach the American population. However, these two nations do have some similarities. First, both countries rely heavily on technology to propel their economic growth and expansion. For Ireland has a talented pool of high tech laborers and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Describe The First Time At The Tea House On a Saturday, I hiked up a mountain, holding a bouquet of flowers. I was heading to a small, wooden teahouse. I have always loved the teahouse because of the fond memories it brought me. The teahouse provided a calm, rustic environment. Immaculate wooden furniture, frosted windows and staff clothed in classical Chinese costumes took me away from the large metropolis that is Hong Kong to a nostalgically attractive, peaceful place. I still recall the first time at the teahouse. It was a Sunday evening and a trio played classical Chinese tunes as I sipped my tea alone, completely engrossed in thought. I am very happy that you came. I was worried that you would not remember me. We rested on slabs of rock, having deep conversations about all that was happening in our lives. We were so engrossed in conversation that we talked until sunset. We watched as a fiery crimson orb of light gradually sank below the skyline and threads of light lingered in the sky, coloring it orange, then red, then dark blue, until all that was left of the sunset was a chalky mauve and then that melted away in turn as darkness stole the sky. The clouds parted and a lustrous, argent disc appeared, emitting brilliant streaks of moonlight onto the dark grounds. I glanced over at Linda, who was wondering at the night sky with an unwavering gaze. The fascination on her face made her look the most beautiful I had ever seen her almost angelic. An unexpected surge of warmth rushed through me. Linda and I were apart for four years and things around us changed, yet one thing remained. I still loved her and she still loved me. We have just started using them so that we can compete with the top dogs of the bank data processors. I believe that if we didn t use analytics one of the big competitors would come in and try to buy out the company. We are looking into ways to help use analytics so that we can strengthen our position in the service and show that we can handle any size community bank. We have created a Business Intelligence department to look into ways that we can improve products, forecast what a bank may buy when signing a contract, and to see how to pitch our regulatory compliance products to other companies to help them with their compliance. We are competing pretty well with the top 3 processors. We have been told that when they hear we are negotiating to sign the same customeras them, they get worried. They know we have a rock solid pitch and use analytics to back up our numbers along with testimonials from other customers how our products have help them compete with the non community banks, retain customers, and bring in the younger generation with the use of technology. • 7. How Reiki Is Considered As A Form Of Healing Essay This assignment evaluates the topic of reiki, which is considered as a form of healing. To begin, it provides a definition and highlights reiki s application in mainstream medicine. This forms scientific assumptions of the use of the scientific method. This highlights credibility, methodology and reliability as a precursor of application to public health. As a result, it firstly demonstrates credibility through the process of gathering scientific facts from reliable sources. Journals are found using the British Psychological Society (BPS) and PsycINFO. This subsequently provides empirical research for critical review. Secondly, it explores methodology from a selection of these journals. It includes the necessity of operational definitions, value and measurement, and construct validity. Finally, it therefore demonstrates the reliability of results as scientific data, to infer robust conclusions. This will provide the basis of the argument to evaluate if reiki is scienceor pseudoscience. Reiki Application Firstly, reiki is described as an ancient Japanese form of therapeutic healing (Baldwin, Rand Schwartz, 2013; Baldwin, Wagers Schwartz, 2008; Cuneo et al., 2011; Diaz Rodriguez et al., 2011; Richeson, Spross, Lutz Peng, 2010; Shore, 2004). • 8. Management Style As you may know, different management styles are required in different parts of the world. It is important to choose the right management style for each situation, which is a key to success for an organization. All managers use a management process which consists of planning, organizing, leading and controlling. So they have to perform many roles in an enterprise. What they can do with various situations will totally depend on their style of management. A management style is an overall method of leadership used by a manager (Lessem et al, 1999). This essay will first demonstrate different types of management styles, and then discuss three key factors that can influence management style, with reference to Japan and America. Each of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Japanese style takes a collective form of responsibility. Those manufactures produce high product quality at a relatively lower cost (Alston, 1986). The reason is that this sense of collective responsibility has positively affected the quality standards. Product quality is cooperatively achieved by workers and managers. Japanese tend to believe the group is more important than the individual (Alston, 1986). In terms of decision making, they probably attempt to gain consensus even if it might require more time. As to Americans, who are almost self centered, they apparently choose to make quick decisions on their own for immediate resolution (Anderson, 2009). The second factor is staff belonging. The general principle of Japanese management is that workers form a family (Alston, 1986). As a part of the corporate family , every member not only pays attention to their own salaries, but also considers the development of the company. Pay is only one reward. There is also a sense of belongingness and support that employees receive from their corporations. On the contrary, Americans tend to indicate that there is no need for them to become familiar with one organization and colleagues before they are off again on their trips (Wellens, 1980). Perhaps individual freedom is more essential than staff belonging in their mind. This different attitude leads to diverse management styles. One consequence for Japanese is the practice of lifetime employment. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When that time comes . . . we shall see . . . as much as it is necessary to know of the nature of women. quot;5 Note that Mill speaks of the quot;free quot; development of women. In the history of philosophy a social doctrine has usually been attached to those ontological and epistemological theses, the doctrine that persons are free (or have freedom) to the extent that they are not constrained, either in their behavior or in their development, by social influences. The liberal doctrine of quot;equal maximal liberty, quot; then, is both a methodological rule for the discovery of the natural as well as a political principle limiting one sort of social influence. Mill elaborates and defends the political doctrine in On Liberty and employs it in The Subjection of Women, which also contains the epistemology. Another statement of the corollary from the latter work more clearly connects the discovery of the natural with freedom: quot;no one can safely pronounce that if women s nature were left to choose its direction as freely as men s, and ... They were expected to provide unstinting support for the head of the house, i.e. the man. Women did not have a formal role in Victorian society and were legally subject to their husbands in all things but Eliot in Middlemarch manages to imbue her female protagonists with a sense of stoicism that renders them a force to be reckoned with, especially if their marriages are under any threat. Robert McCrum in The Guardian described it thus Middlemarch looms above the mid Victorian literary landscape like a cathedral of words in whose vastness its readers can find every kind of addictive discomfort, a sequence of raw truths: the loneliness of the disappointed failure in Dr Lydgate, the frustrations of his discontented wife, Rosamond, and the humiliation of a good woman in ... This has been the concept of toilets for over 200 years. Some questions do come to mind when witnessing this event; how does the water and waste get sucked out of the toilet bowl? Why does the water get sucked out in a spinning motion? Does it matter which side of the hemisphere creates a certain trend of spin in the water? These phenomena are more common than one may think, these things happen through a variety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bowl siphon is the one mechanism that makes the flushing feat possible. It s the gooseneck section leading from the toilet bowl to the sewage pipes. According to the online howstuffworks.com, the siphon is Any pipe, hose or tube that is used to move a liquid from a higher location to a lower location. The actual design of the siphon is dependent on the effect caused by it. The function also depends on the amount of water being transferred to the toilet bowl at one given moment. The tank of the toilet contains approximately 2 gallons (7.6 liters) of water, when all of that water is moved to the toilet bowl in a matter of seconds, all of the water going down the pipe creates the siphon effect, sucking everything out of the toilet. If I were to dump a cup of water, or 25 cups (6 liters) of water for that matter, it would not be enough to create the siphon effect. The water would only spill over in the mechanism and drain itself to be level with the highest point of the gooseneck bowl siphon. Doctor Louis A. Bloomfield, at the online site physicscentral.com, explains that the siphon effect works with the combination of water and gravity at their finest. H2O has its own variety of different potential energies. Gravitational potential energy is at work all night, all day, and every second in between, while water has its own potential energy due to having either low or high pressure. Water s total potential energy includes gravitational potential ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was further hypothesized that personal development competitiveness would be correlated with achievement striving but not with impatience or irritability. Hyper competitiveness was defined as competitiveness with others while personal development competitiveness was correlated with competing with oneself for self improvement. Three hundred and four participants were administered the Hyper competitive Attitude Scale, the Personal Development Competitive Attitude Scale, and the Type A Behavior Pattern Inventory. The results of the study indicated that Type A individuals who were hyper competitive were more likely to demonstrate the irritable and impatient aspects of Type A personality. They were also less likely to demonstrate positive correlations with achievement strings including academic achievement. In contrast, people with high levels of Personal Development Competitiveness were more likely to show high level achievement strings including academic achievements and were less likely to demonstrate impatience or irritability. The general public and journalists are not permitted to enter abattoirs of many corporations, leaving the judgement of how animals should be slaughtered to the businesses themselves. Many Americans would not necessarily agree with this statement because they are ignorant of the system, they have chosen not to see what really happens to the animals they eat every day. Corporations have been permitted to pursue profit irrespective of the cost. In his effort to find the right way, when working on Polyface farm, Pollan dreaded being a part of processing the chickens. • 38. African American Women And The Collective Psyche Of... African American women have been purposefully written out of visual history with the exception of scripted roles that have been predetermined by stereotypical scripts that are imbedded in the collective psyche of American audiences beginning in the 1890s. Dorothy Dandridge was a sensational performer that commanded attention and left her audiences awestruck on screen and in life. At the age of eleven, I recall sitting in front of the television for a special televised movie, called Introducing Dorothy Dandridge. The film opens with a somber score and voiceover of Dorothy (Halle Berry) asking the audience, Have you ever caught sight of yourself by accident... And, you see yourself from the outside... That s who you really are... That question captured my wondering eleven year old mind and immediately pulled me into the world of a woman who was familiar to me. She was familiar in her storytelling and questioning even before an image broke the continuity of credits on flashing on the screen. My mother has always loved mirrors. In one room there would be at least two mirrors suspended on the walls. I have caught many glimpses of myself over the years, so I knew exactly what she meant in asking the question. It s a question that continues to be answered by Hollywood of black women, but without their input or consent. The question is why? • 39. The Environmental Impact Skiing On The Environment The environmental impact skiing has as a whole on the environment has been a growing concern for some time now. Resorts especially have taken specific notice to their carbon foot print, and actions to reduce it. Several companies have taken this trend of going green and established themselves as the go to people for whatever their service/product may be. In large, the snow sports industry has stepped up their game with sustainabilitypractices in hopes of leaving the world as they found it years ago. One slope side lightingcompany called Arctic Beam has developed a futuristic looking LED lighting solution that can cut energy usage in half for a typical ski resort. Although slope lighting is not a big issue for many ski resorts, the ones who offer night skiing can benefit tremendously. By reducing energy use by half and ski resort can now invest that half into other sustainable projects and further their steps to becoming an environmentally friendly resort. These lights also reduce light pollution by having a 120 degree angle of light and ability to concentrate the beam to certain areas. Compared to the usual gas light bulbs used today whose light direction is 360 degrees with little control over where the light can be directed. The difference is remarkable with visibility as well. The Arctic Beam puts out light which can be registered more readily by the human eye then light emitted by the gas bulbs. This creates a safer skiing and riding zone by increasing typical night ... The most common thing they would say would be like, Kate, quit talking and go move to a different seat. Usually, I would respond back with, Okay in an annoyed tone, because all I wanted to do was talk. I would still find a way to talk to someone else, but after a while, I would hear my teacher say my name again. Kate this is your last chance to quit talking or else you re going to the office or I m going to be calling your mom, they would say. Okay, I would quietly respond back. Throughout the years as I go little older I started caring about the little things people would say about me. Like one of the little things that would bother me was when some of my friends or even some classmate would point out how I have an accent, or how I would do things differently than them. I became very subconscious about my speaking every single time I would talk because I felt like everyone would be paying close attention to it. I didn t realize that as a kid that having an accent would be that noticeable to others. Suddenly my life took a turn when I entered 5th grade. It started out great. I initially took Jazz III because it is required for my dance minor; I also hoped to gain a better understanding of the Jazz Technique. Throughout this course I achieved the goals that I set at the beginning of the semester. My goals were to be very confident doing double pirouettes and comfortable doing triple pirouettes. I also wanted to focus on being a more conscious turner and dancer. I pushed myself to break my habit of just going for pirouette and hoped that it all worked out. Each class I learned new imagery and pedagogies that have been extremely beneficial to my dancecareer. A few images and pedagogies that resonated were the idea of my pelvis being an elevator, taking my pelvis with me, especially when doing battement s, and understanding the placement of a turned in passГ©. • 47. Summary Of Patterns By Amy Lowell Patterns Amy Lowell was a leader of the Imagists movement. She was influenced by John Keats and gathered a selection of his works. Lowell began to write after her brothers published books of their own, but she focused on poetry. The detail in Lowell s poetry related to describing and environment or a person could help the reader better understand what is happening in the poem and include the reader as if they were actually there experiencing what the narrator or speaker is experiencing. Her choices develop a bigger picture than what the poem is actually saying. Amy Lowellhelped to change the thought process when reading poetry. Amy Lowell s Patterns is a very good example of imagery being used to draw the reader s attention. This poem is filled with so many bright and vivid colors and different moods that it attracts the reader. Each stanzashows a different scene or a different moment in the same area and exuding different emotions to share that moment and feeling. The first two stanzas and the last three stanzas are in the present, while the third and fourth stanzas are flashbacks or memories she is having as she remembers her lost lover. The title Patterns refers to the gown that the speaker is wearing, the different flowers in the garden, the paths that are in the garden, and the war that the speaker mentions towards the end of the poem. In the first stanza, the speaker is walking through the garden and she notices the wind blowing on the flowers causing them to move or sway. She continues walking through the garden in her stiff but beautifully embroidered gown. She has white hair and a fan embellished with jewels. She states that she has a unique design. The mood in this stanza seems calm or content but a little uncomfortable. The second stanza she is still walking along the path in the garden and her train is dragging on the ground behind her covering the path and the plants along the sides. Her ensemble is currently in style and so are her shoes. She only shows confidence while wearing her corset and gown. She slowly takes a seat under the lime tree, although the corset makes it difficult and uncomfortable to sit, she sits anyway. She watches the flowers swing in the breeze wanting to be able to do ... A motive is but a component of a theme. A theme being according to The Enjoyment of Music textbook a melodic idea in a large scale work (Chapter 6). So how exactly can a motive be a theme? For instance if you are asking women to name a type of wrench, they are more likely to go along with the group s answer because a wrench is more of a masculine object. It works the same way with men: If you were to ask men to name a specific type of needlework, they d be more likely to conform because they are unfamiliar with objects more feminine. The Decline Of The Ottoman Empire How the Decline of the Ottoman Empire Led to the Armenian Genocide Extended Essay in History Word Count: 3941 Douglas County High School Douglasville, GA, USA Examination Session: May 2016 Kiran Lakhani ABTRACT Through the investigation of the changes occurring from the first European presence in the Muslim world to the end of the Ottoman Empire, this essay attempts to answer why the Armenian genocide occurred. The Ottoman Empire started its decline when Napoleon entered Egypt in 1798. Napoleon brought along with him armies but also a new culture. The British did the same with Moghul India. The elite and people in positions of power were impressed by what the Europeans and the Americans were doing and seeing how powerful and successful they were. The Turks in the Ottoman Empire wanted the same. The Young Turks overthrew the Sultan of the time and started a reform of the Ottoman Empire to try to salvage it. The Young Turks also believed that all people regardless of religion or ethnicity deserved the same rights. The Armenians were one of the ethnicities that were in the minority. They obtained more rights when the policy was put in place. Before the Armenians received their right they were rebelling against the Ottomans. This was frightening to the majority. Massacres of the minorities, especially the Armenians started well before 1915, but the killings progressed in 1915. Many of the Armenians were deported and forced to leave their homes. In 1915 ... MSFWs have lower life expectancies than the general population, and have an incidence of infant mortality that is two times higher than the national average, according to David M. Carne s Hispanic and Farmworker Health: A Community Health Survey of Hood River County, Oregon (Carne 11). The increased infant mortality rate (IMR) is particularly concerning, as infants aren t participating in farmwork, meaning that the high IMR is likely from a lack of access to healthcare infrastructure.
