Nursing Application Essays
1. Nursing Application Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of "Nursing Application Essays" can be quite challenging. It
requires not only a deep understanding of the field of nursing but also the ability to effectively
communicate one's experiences, motivations, and aspirations within the constraints of a
structured essay format. Crafting a compelling narrative that highlights one's unique qualities,
experiences, and dedication to the nursing profession requires careful thought and introspection.
Moreover, nursing application essays often carry significant weight in the admissions process, as
they provide admissions committees with insight into an applicant's personality, values, and
suitability for the nursing program. This adds an extra layer of pressure to ensure that the essay is
well-written, engaging, and memorable.
In addition to the inherent difficulty of articulating one's thoughts and experiences, there may
also be challenges related to time constraints, writer's block, or uncertainty about how to
effectively convey one's message. Furthermore, applicants may struggle with finding the right
balance between showcasing their strengths and addressing any weaknesses or challenges they
have encountered along their journey to becoming a nurse.
Overall, writing a compelling nursing application essay requires a combination of self-reflection,
storytelling prowess, and attention to detail. It's a task that demands dedication, patience, and a
willingness to revise and refine until the final product truly shines.

2. Rhetorical Devices Used In A Modest Proposal
Swift wants the reader to describe the persona he adopts as one with a deep
understanding of the deplorable circumstances in Ireland, so that he is deemed
reasonable in his proposed solution for the state of the kingdom. He successfully
achieves this by incorporating thorough descriptions of his plan, such as in the
explanation having 20,000 poor children reserved for breeding and the remaining
100,000 used as sustenance for the rest of the populace. Swift also forms a solid
argument by appealing to pathos in addressing heartbreaking topics such as, the
mothers who, instead of being able to work for their honest livelihood, are forced to
employ all their time in strolling to beg sustenance for their helpless infants, which
promotes sympathy in the readers, thereby influencing them to agree with his
proposal to counteract such unfortunate circumstances.... Show more content on

When Swift introduced the idea of using children as a source of nourishment, a
satirical stance on the proposal through the sharp contrast in moral principles from
protecting children to eating them. I believe that a modern audience would
understand the joke faster than Swift s contemporaries did because the modern
world is one with strong family morals. Therefore, proposing the consuming of
infants would be viewed as such an absurd proposition that there would be no logical
way for his argument to be
3. Wal Mart As A Symbol Of The United States
Overview: Sam Walton founded Wal Mart in 1962 in Roger, Arkansas. In a little
less than 10 years, Wal Mart had 38 locations and was opening two stores per year.
In 1970, the company started trading in the New York Stock Exchange. By 1979,
the company announced a record $1billion sales and it became the first company
to do so. Wal Mart reached record after record during those years, and by the end of
1989, Wal Mart reported after tax profits of $1billlion. Wal Mart now has become a
symbol of the United States, and it is the biggest employer in the world with
approximately 2.2 million workers with operations in 27 different countries. Wal
Mart s revenue is gargantuan; they were ranked number one by Fortune Magazine
in 2001, with a revenue of $219.8bn. At this point, Wal Mart sales are around
$1billlion per day. The incredible rise of Wal Mart from a little store in Arkansas to
one of the biggest companies todayis astonishing; however, it has not come without
its problems. During the early 1980 s, employees tried to unionize in one of the
distribution centers in Arkansas. Walton told the workers that if they unionize, he
would remove the employees profit sharing plan and replace them with other
employees. Another scandal Wal Mart faced was in its Made in America campaign,
during which most of the clothes sold in Wal Mart were manufactured in sweatshops
in developing countries. The video The Age of Wal Mart, which aired in 2004,
presented many ethical issues
4. The Mental Illness Of Jake s Disability
Jake has started taking strenuous classes this semester and has developed an anxiety
disorder. This is a mental illness that causes constant worry and fear. In psychology,
there are many ways to look at the development and treatments for this affliction.
Behavioral, humanistic, and cognitive are three approaches that look at Jake s
disability in a similar, yet a contrasting manner.
The behavioral approach studies how one behaves and reacts in situations that trigger
anxiety. Jake is psyching himself out by his recently harder classes. In other words,
he dreads taking these classes because he associates them with anxiousness. This
learning is processed through paired association. In this example, the unconditioned
stimulus would be the advanced class and the unconditioned response would be Jake
becoming anxious. Systematic desensitization can treat this due to that fact that it is
learned from the environment. Jake will go through gradual steps to reach full
treatment. First, Jake must learn to relax through training. Second, Jake will create a
list of objects or situations in school that makes him uneasy. Lastly, he will face the
stimuli in a relaxed state. As an illustration, Jake tells the therapist that the tests in
his new classes worry him. The therapist will guide Jake to become less tense while
studying and taking the test. This will make his apprehension decrease and treat his
anxiety disorder. Psychologists view this today as having the ability to clearly measure
5. The First Amendment Speaks On The Freedoms Of Religion

WRIT 3037
17 October 2016
Free Art The First Amendment speaks on the freedoms of religion, speech, press,
assembly and petition; so important, they found their place in the US Constitution.
Even with these freedoms meaning so much to the majority of America, somehow
today we still encounter differences in political and religious views that seem to
provoke people to act violently against a piece of art or even physically against the
artist that created it such as in the recent case of artist Illma Gore. Often the violent
action of destroying a work of art is more offensive than the image itself. We should
allow artists free reign of subject matter as well as style and work together to prevent
art desecration and violence through education of the arts. Censorship is the result of
the fear of art. When the fear of art turns into iconoclasm or, rejection of a valued
belief system, that fear becomes lack of government funding, desecration, and
physical violence.
Visual artists fell through the gaps and did not receive federal support for their work
until the creation of the NEA or National Endowment for the Arts in 1965. This
federal program had little funding but proved a growing interest in art and art
viewing from the public. This demand for art creates a demand for funds to support
venues and museums so they can keep their doors open. A problem with the NEA is
that they provide government funding, which prevents them from being biased about
6. U.S. Policy on Libyan Chemical Weapons Proliferation
Essay
U.S. Policy on Libyan Chemical Weapons Proliferation
Introduction
A legacy of aggression exists between the United States and Libya which pervades
every facet of U.S. foreign policy, particularly in the non proliferation arena. The
absolute distrust of Revolutionary Leader Colonel Mu ammar Abu Minyar al
Qadhafi and his government expressed by U.S. officials has prompted the United
States to play the role of policing non proliferation of nuclear, chemical, and
biological weapons, the so called weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), in Libya.
As Libya is a party to the Pelindaba Treaty for the establishment of the African
nuclear weapon free zone (ANWFZ), it is bound to a commitment of nuclear non
proliferation. However, this treaty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The definition of proportionality, however, is difficult to ascertain and the doctrine
can only be invoked in the case of attack. Therefore, U.S. use of nuclear weapons in
response to the present Libyan production of chemical weapons is unjustifiable.
The chemical weapons non proliferation regime boasts a strong treaty in the form of
the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), but as Libya is not a party to this treaty,
its restrictions have no bearing on Libyan chemical weapons production. Libya,
therefore, presents a problem in that its chemical weapons production constitutes a
world threat, but its actions are fully legal. The Geneva Protocol of 1925 merely
prohibits the use of chemical weapons, not their production, stockpiling, or
possession. Thus, though U.S. policy options are constrained by its agreements and
security assurances, the United States must seek out legal and effective means of
ending Libyan production of chemical weapons.
Background
Libya has long been considered a state threatening the interests of the WMD non
proliferation regimes. Though Libya is a non nuclear weapon state party to the NPT,
[its] commitment to the accord is suspect because of [its] demonstrated interest in
acquiring nuclear arms (Jones 1995:15). This resolution became more suspicious
when Libya joined Bhutan and India in casting a negative vote in the overall 158 to
3 vote in favor of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (Jones 1995:16).

George Bernard Shaw (1856 1950) the versatile dramatist used contemporary social,
political and religious problems as subjects for his plays. Pygmalion, perhaps the
only one of his many plays in which he points out to his audience and his readers that
he has used an ancient classical myth to explore a problem that is not merely
contemporary but one that has lasted through time. This myth is the story of
PygmalionGalatea which has been told and retold by several later writers in
differing forms. In the most familiar version of this myth, Pygmalion was the king
of Cyprus. He was also a great sculptor who used to make beautiful statues of bronze,
marble and ivory. He was devoted to his art and always sought for perfection at any...

9. Identifying War Essay
Identifying War
In order to describe what war is one has to define it. According to The Collins
Dictionary war is
1. open armed conflict between two or more parties, nations or states... 2. a
particular armed conflict: the 1973 war in Middle East. 3. the techniques of armed
conflict as a study, science, or profession. 4. and conflict or contest: the war against
crime. 5. (modifier) of, resulting from a characteristic of war: war damage; war

describe what war is. Clausewitz chooses not to follow the definitions put forward

Here, force is everything that the attacking group can muster together in order to
destroy the other group s will to fight and bring a quick, decisive victory, and can
involve killing soldiers as well as destroying important buildings.
Wars are not always like this, and with the introduction of nuclear weapons, Van
Creveld believes that conventional war is effectively at its end. Also, if this Total
War was true then more groups would use nuclear weapons in order to win the war,
but they do not. This is due to mutually assured destruction and the risk of a backlash
from other nuclear powers. There has been plans to try and incorporate nuclear
weapons into conventional war, but this was unsuccessful.
When considering what is war, it is not simply a case of the use of force by the
attacking party, but one has to take in account the opposed force. Without this
opposed force it would not be war, it would simply be a massacre or perhaps
genocide. The form of opposition force, like an attackers force, can vary, whether
they respond in an offensive or defensive manner. If they are defending the war will
be restricted to their own turf and their forces concentrated on preventing attack and
protecting certain people or buildings. However, the offensive

The Supra littoral zone is one of the harshest terrains for organisms to exist in. The
organisms that live in this region are facing problems like gas exchange,
desiccation, temperature changes and feeding. It is only covered during storms and
extremely high tides and is moistened by the spray of the breaking waves.
Organisms are exposed to the drying heat of the sun in the summer and to extreme
low temperatures in the winter. Because of these severe conditions, only a few
resistant organisms live here. The dominate organisms that reside within this zone
are Blue grey Periwinkles. Using Transect lines for over 30m, we evaluated the
effects of several factors on this zone, including (1) predation, (2) herbivory, (3) plant
plant competition, (4) plant animal competition, and (5) physical disturbance from
high energy waves. The interaction having the greatest effect on the structure of this
zone was desiccation and high temperatures. However the Blue grey Periwinkle has
been specially adapted to the harsh conditions of the dry upper littoral zone. They
are able to trap water inside their shell to prevent moisture escaping, and cling to the
rock face while the tide is out. As we can see from the abiotic data the temperature at
the Supra littoral zone is also very high reaching 25 degrees compared to the other
zones reaching only 20 degrees. Furthermore the special adaptations of the Blue Grey
Periwinkle allow it to be the most dominant
11. Shortcomings Of Social Media
Communication is an integral aspect in organizational success. The efficiency of both
the internal and the external communication determine the success of a given
organization. As such, use of the most effective means of communication is
fundamental to the success of organizations (Benson, 2016). In this excerpt, an
examination of the benefits and shortcomings of using social media as well as
having kick off meetings will be analyzed.
Think of a time that social media was used on a project. Describe what was used and
the purpose of communication (inform, persuade, motivate, interact, inspire). What
were the benefits and challenges of using that social media? Citing a case in context,
our organization aimed at motivating people to participate in a corporate social
responsibility (CSR) program. The members of the workforce were to attend a tree
planting event. However, much of the members were opposed to the idea as they
preferred attending a team building retreat. Therefore, the communication department
was charged with the duty of motivating the members to develop a positive attitude
towards the corporate social responsibility (CSR) event. Therefore, the
communication team consistently posted positive effects of participating in CSR. In
this undertaking, the posts were made emotional hence touching the players by both
benefits and shortcomings of using the social media were manifested. It was meant to

When Stephen Kinzer comes to Nicaragua for the first time, he knows very little
about the people or culture; everything from the burning sun to the earthquakes to the
impending revolution surprises him. However, he is not the only one who seems to
be unaware of the increasing tension that is mounting between the Somoza regime
and the Sandinistas; even important figures, such as Colonel Laszlo Pataky, try to
minimize the danger. Only Pedro Joaquin Chamorro, an anti Somoza newspaper
owner, admits that war is on the horizon. And before Kinzer leaves, he makes an
exasperated statement about the relationship between the United Statesand Nicaragua:

Whether it is the Spanish governor Pedrarias versus the Indian chieftain Diriangen or

there was plenty of reasons to harbor resentment for Americans. Sandino, the hero

both countries began to distrust each other, as they knew the amount of power each
country had in terms of nuclear weapons. Not only did they distrust each other, but
they lacked a mutual understanding of each other s culture. The USA believed in

Hemingway uses the right amount of detail to paint a picture of every lesson he

they can also be used relatively with a strong characteristic of one s character.

phrase Hemingway uses to describe such a character like Brett, and how complex

she becomes the purple and the red that Hemingway uses. Pedro Romero becomes

the bulls that Romero fights within the last 3 chapters. In particular, on page 221

down and his legs settling . The bull has ripped a bit of Romero s purity away, but
not before he puts an end to the bull and it s power. The color purple is used lightly
throughout the novel, but is meaningful enough to symbolize adventure and mystery.
Purple is first brought to life in chapter 2 when Jake starts to analyze Robert Cohn s

Dubinsky, however, strongly believed that the radical changes they proposed were a

However, in response to Jobs challenges, Campbell and Scully called for a
distribution strategy review and recommended improvements by the end of the
quarter. Dubinsky worked with Dave Kinser, controller for the distribution, service,
and support group on a research project intended to defend the existing distribution
system. Although she was unable to devote significant time and resources to the

Nevertheless, intimidated by rumors of the sophisticated presentation being prepared

In January, Dubinsky learned that Coleman s proposal would be presented at an

21. Economic Freedom Wealth Essay
Economic Freedom and Wealth Economic freedom is the ability for an individual
to prosper with minimal intervention from government. In an economically free
society, individuals are empowered to succeed or fail based on their own
individual abilities. Higher levels of economic freedom lead to higher levels of
economic growth and income. The level of economic freedom varies among
different regions and countries across the globe. Thus, levels of prosperity and
wealth also vary widely across the globe. The Heritage Foundation, in cooperation
with The Wall Street Journal, researches several factors to measure economic
freedom across the globe. The Foundation issues the results of their research in the

Many countries with policies similar to China also have high rates of bribery and
corrupt bureaucrats. In other, more democratic countries such as the US, starting a
business is a simpler process and just requires the right capital expenditures.
Economic freedom is highly correlated with societies openness to entrepreneurial
activity that creates new jobs and increases opportunity and choice for individuals
in advancing their own well being (Miller, 2011). Trade Freedom Trade freedom is
a highly important factor in determining economic freedom and wealth. No one
single country has the resources required to sustain the current standards of living
in developed or developing nations. Trade requires specialization according to a
country s comparative advantage. Specialization allows the most efficient and
effective use of a country s scarce resources, whether that be natural resources or
labor resources. The Index shows the economic benefits of specialization and
trade. Trade freedom reflects an economy s openness to the import of goods and
services from around the world and the citizen s ability to interact freely as buyer or
seller in the international marketplace (Miller and Kim, 2011). Tariffs, export taxes,
trade quotas, trade bans, and other trade restrictions all hinder the free flow of
foreign and domestic commerce. Tariffs and export taxes increase prices to both
22. The Folly Of The Evil In Herman Melville s Billy Budd
The Folly of the Innocent Nobody is perfect. It is asinine to believe that perfection
can be truly achieved. There will always be a flaw that develops in an individual.
Whether it s small or even fatal, these flaws will always prevail and be
remembered by generations to come. Take Napoleon Bonaparte for example. He
led one of the greatest revolutions in history; however, there was a characteristic of
his personality that sealed his downfall. He had an insatiable hunger for limitless
power. He became greedy and tried to take on more than his army could handle. His
ruling was almost perfect except for his craze for power. Again, nobody can be
perfect even fictional characters created by Herman Melville. Billy Buddin Billy
Budd, Sailor and Selected Tales seemed to have all the characteristics of a perfect
individual. The only problem is that he had a stutter which eventually caused his
death his fatal flaw. He could not express his emotions to Captain Vere so he acted
out by punching Claggart in the face, murdering him in the process. This lack of
ability to communicate caused outburst and death on the ship. While this may have
been wrong from a legal standpoint, I believe that Billy Budd was ethically justified
when it came to the accidental murderof Claggart. People will bring up arguments
as to why Billy Budd was not justified in killing Claggart. For one thing, they will
argue that murder is murder. There is no reason as to why killing someone can be
morally right in

The Letter from the Birmingham jail was a great letter. Written by a very eloquent
man, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, the letter was very persuasive and I believe it
must be hard to disagree with him after he made so many valid points. That is
precisely what will be discussed. So in the letter, Martin Luther King, Jr. talks about
how the clergymen that wrote to him and criticized him for supposedly planning his
speech at an unwisely and untimely time. To which, Martin Luther King, Jr backed
his reasoning with one of the most inspirational quotes I have personally seen. He
makes the point that For years now I have heard the word Wait! It rings in the ear of

was responding to also made it a point that he couldn t support something that was
breaking laws. To which, he responded with about how it was morally wrong for the
people in his organization to just sit by and do nothing while their friends of color
could not participate in activities due to the race they were born with. A law that is
morally wrong to someone that would not impact someone s life (unless
positively) is a law that can be bypassed considering it is something as simple as
judging someone for something that they can t even control, such as skin tone.
Martin Luther King, Jr. wasn t even advocating that it was okay to break laws, he
simply stated that people have a moral and lawful duty to upkeep laws. Especially
for just and unjust laws to which you can differentiate if you read the letter
yourself. His whole letter was a response to someone that criticized him for what
he believed in and what he did to help his community. He was simply telling them
why he did what he did. With all valid arguments, I personally believe Martin
Luther King, Jr. achieved his purpose in explaining why he was an advocate against
slavery and why he did such things for the sake of freedom. Even though there were
so many more points he justified, for not only himself but his community, this essay
is getting quite long. So, I completely agree with Martin Luther King, Jr. s letter and
I am moved by what he had to
24. Differences Between New England Settlers And
Chesapeake...
When the English settled into the New World, they were split up into two sections,
the Chesapeake region and the New England region. Although the English settled
both, the two regions were severely different from each other when they were
brought about. The New England and Chesapeake colonies differed in three ways:
their reason for venturing over, economy, and population. These major differences
were what shaped our nation today and what will continue shaping our nation in the
future. When the Mayflower sailed over to the New World, on the boats were
Puritans that were looking for a change in the way that their religion was practiced

The gold was never found and the passage through America was given up in hopes
of staying alive. Because the Chesapeake settlers were too interested in gold, they
did not settle down and get ready for the harsh winters to come; leaving them
unprotected to the fierce winter. The New England settlers were settles and ready,
but they did loose a few men to the bitter cold, however not as many as the
Chesapeake settlers did. The economy of the two regions also greatly differed
because of the terrain that they landed on. Because the land in the south was much
more fertile than in the north, the southern colonies thrived in rice and tobacco,
profiting greatly. In New England the settlers could not grow anything in the
rocky terrain and were forced into fishing, building, and farming. However, not
much farming went on because of the infertile soil. In the Chesapeake slaves were
also a main part of their economy. The slave trade made them very wealthy because
of their closeness to the West Indies. They would be shipped many slaves and then
use them to harvest their crops and plant their land. Soon, the slaves outnumbered
white settlers by about four to one. When the English sailed over to the New World,
there were only a handful of them, that is, until slavery was introduced. While New
England was almost all white English settlers Chesapeake was made up of mostly
African American slaves. In New England, the need for slaves was not very high

25. Essay On Cruise Ship
CRUISE SHIP
A cruise ship or cruise liner is a (usually very large) passenger ship used for
pleasure voyages, where the voyage itself and the ship s amenities are part of the
experience, as well as the different destinations along the way. Transportation is not
the prime purpose, as cruise ships operate mostly on routes that return passengers to
their originating port, so the ports of call are usually in a specified region of a
continent.
In contrast, dedicated transport oriented ocean liners do line voyages and typically
transport passengers from one point to another, rather than on round trips.

Ocean liner services aimed at passengers ceased in 1986, with the notable exception
of transatlantic crossings operated by the Cunard Line, catering to the niche market

In comparison to liner crossings, cruising voyages gained popularity; slowly at
first but at an increased rate from the 1980s onwards. Initially the fledgling industry
was serviced primarily by small redundant liners, and even the first purpose built
cruise ships were small. This changed after the success of the SS Norway (originally
the ocean liner SS France, which was converted to cruising duties) as the Caribbean s
first super ship .
Contemporary cruise ships built in the late 1980s and beyond, such as Sovereign

of size and strength once reserved for ocean liners some have undertaken regular

with private balconies instead of oceanview cabins. Other cruise lines soon launched
ships with similar attributes, such as the Fantasy class and Crown Princess. As the

During the Renaissance, Catholicism and the Catholic Church were very important. It
was important because many people cared about the religion. They thought that if
they were dedicated enough to the Catholic Church it would determine if they would
be able to have a spot in heaven. Another reason, people wanted to reform the church.
They wanted to reform the church because they wanted to change the practices and
how it should be handled. The final important reason is that there was a conflict
between the Catholic Churchand the protestant church. It led to war and persecution
because of the different beliefs the two religions had. Most of the religion was based
on Christianity, but it was also a part of Catholicism which was all of Western Europe.

about faith and allowed people could redeem themselves by doing good works.

three different commercial intersections within Metro Vancouver, located in areas of

Data and Methods As mentioned, the research method used for this study was
participant observation. This was further divided into three different segments. Each
of these segments featured its own distinct observation site and involved one hour of
observation per site.
Because this is a comparative study, observation sites needed to have certain
characteristics and were hence chosen on the basis of specific independent and
controlled variables. The independent variable was the density of the larger
surrounding area, while the controlled variables were the type of public space and
the zoning of the immediate area. Taking into account who I was observing, I
chose to narrow my choices to major commercial intersections. This created a
degree of consistency, while also allowing me to observe the greatest diversity of
road users possible (as cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers are all likely to converge at
major commercial intersections). Thus, I had to select three major commercial
intersections, one in a high density area, another in a medium density area, and the
last in a low density area.
The final decisions were made using data maps. First, based on a population density
map of the Lower Mainland constructed using 2011 census data (Smith 2013), I was
able to find suitable areas in which to place my observation sites. According to the
data, high density
30. How Is The Pirates Of The Caribbean Historically Accurate
The Black Death The movie series, The Pirates of the Caribbean, was very good
for many reasons. Not only was it entertaining, it was also historically accurate.
Many different factors helped the film achieve a high level of realism portraying
pirate life in the 16th 17th centuries. For example, in the movie, the character Jack
Sparrow was both similar and different to the pirates that lived in real life historical
times. In addition to that, the weaponry used in real pirate life was almost exactly
the same to the weaponry used in the movie. Another example is that the pirate code

The pirate code in the movie states that the nine Pirate Lords elected pirate
captains. Like in the movie some pirates voted for important affairs on Bart
Roberts s ship, but there weren t nine lords. In the series, the pirate code also states
that each crewmember got the same share of the treasure found, but it is
historically accurate that captains actually got more than everyone else and they
gave bonuses to boatswains, quartermasters, and other officials. Other than that all
crewmembers got the same share of treasure. Also any man that is injured is left
behind in the movie, but pirates actually gave injured pirates a compensation
ranging from 400 to 800 pieces of eight. Like in the movie, real pirates were also
marooned and left with nothing but a gun and some rum. Another accurate fact in
the pirate code of the movie is that when a pirate found a ship to attack, that pirate
would get the best pistol. This is a rule according to Edward Low s pirate code. Jack
Sparrow said that pirates never betray or steal from others because it was not issue on
his ship. He had forbidden it, but in other pirate codes like John Phillip s, it said that
they would be marooned if a pirate betrayed or stole. Some of these movie pirate

33. Screen Quota In South Korea
It is imperative for a country s government to protect their own cultural interests. The
creative and cultural economy spans many categories, but the film industry is one in
which any sort of person can find enjoyment. The American film industry is
transparently one of the most prevalent in the world, and so it must be a priority for
countries to foster their own filmindustry. South Korea(hereafter Korea) is one such
example of policies that have been put in place to fight the cultural war the United
States leads. A cinema screen quota policy that proposes that a Korean theatre must
show domestic films at least 73 days a year has been in place to different extents
since 1966. While the Korean policies of screen quotas have marginally helped to
establish the success of Korean cinema, it has in fact more noticeably damaged the
industry and quality of films produced. A country s screen quota is a legislative
policy that forces theatres within a country to screen domestic films a minimum
number of days within a year. The goal of a screen quota is to support local
filmmakers and producers and to protect the domestic market from too much
foreign influence. By forcing venues to show local made films and restricting the
number of foreign Korea introduced their first screen quota in 1966, with a
minimum of 146 days. This was decreed by Korea s Motion Picture Law, Article 19
(Kim, 2000). A venue that did not follow the screen quota would be in danger of

36. Advantages Of Data Compression
1.INTRODUCTION
COMPRESSION
What is compression?
Data compression is the method of reducing the number of bits to store or transmit
the data. It reduces the size of data to save storage space or speed transmission.
Cost is aldo decreased for storage and network bandwidth. Compression is performed
by a program that uses an algorithm on how to shrink the size of the data.
For data transmission, compression can be performed on the data content or on the
entire transmission unit.. When information is sent or received via the Internet, large
files, either singly or with others as part of an archive file, may be transmitted in a
.ZIP, gzip or other compressed format.
Text compression can be as simple as removing all unwanted characters, inserting a
single repeat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After all this we come to the question about why do we need compression? What is
the need? And in what way will it benefit us? Data compression is needed because it
allows the data to be stored without taking up an unnecessary amount of space. Data
compression uses some algorithms to reduce the amount of actual space that the data
would take up.
The way the algorithm is compressed will determine how much data is compressed..
The compressed data will be large if the amount of data is of extremely large size.
Whereas compressed data will take up very small space if the size of the data to be
compressed is very small. [4]
Determining the amount of space that the data will take up is dependent on the
algorithm that is used to compress the data. If the algorithm is used properly and
formatted specifically for the data, the data can take up nearly no space. If a
generalized algorithm is used, the data may not fit into a compressed area. The
algorithm is the determining factor on how well the data will compress, how much
space it will take up and how much of the data will be available after compression.[4]
Various Compression Techniques
The most basic compression techniques are

life, growth, and death. She was saying that her grandchild had not lived long life
and nature had a long life. She discovered solace in her confidence that it is god s
hand that guides nature and destiny. I choose these lines from the poem because
when my grandma passed away, I was angry that God took her away from me and
my family but I find comfort in faith of Christianity similar to when Bradstreet
struggled to accept the loss of her grandchild as being God s will and found comfort
in her faith of Puritanism. The poem showed me as a reader that Bradstreet had real
emotions as she felt sorrow by losing the one that she loved and must constantly be
active in her faith of Puritanism for it be remain meaningful. Bradstreet showed me to
continue to believe in my faith of the religion as God would continue to test me by
42. Planned Parenthood Pros And Cons
Planned parenthood is an organization that provides healthcare and sexual education
to women, men,and kids. Planned parenthood was created by Margaret Sanger, her
sister Ethel Byre, and an activist Fania Mindell, and the first center was opened
October 16, 1916. The reason Sanger wanted to create centers like this was because
her mother had very fragile health conditions on getting pregnant with her children.
Therefore Sanger traveled to England to study birth control. Along her way to
England she educated as many people as she could on what we was going to do.
The first clinic that they opened was shut down because people were lining up to get
in, so the police came to see what was happening there and they shut it down. But that

Pro life is opposed to abortion ( Merriam Webster Dictionary ). Women that have
abortions at planned parenthood facilities do not refer to killing the baby as an
abortion they refer to it as healing of a disease. They did a study and it showed most
women have these abortions because they want to restore their current self and to
protect their future self. The current self is referred to as the lifestyle she is currently
living, and the future self is what she anticipate what her life will look like in the
future like her career or job. Planned parenthood works with this thinking in to
convince the women that having an abortion will make everything all right but
normally the women are never the same after their abortion. Planned parenthood
centers don t provide the post treatment after an abortion such as counseling, to treat
the emotional, physical, and social needs after these women have went through
something so tragic. Finally, planned parenthood denies the humanity of the unborn
child (Pauls and Carl pp.315 324). They look at this situation as the fetus not being a
human just a random disease that
43. Role Of A Product Manager For Romberg
I have been given the role of a Product Manager for Romberg. My main objective is
to thoroughly investigate all of the data that has been provided in the case study
and appendices. I will create a marketing plan for 2015, which will develop
Romberg s true market potential in the UK. However, this is only a small part of the
company s goals and objectives. In the bigger picture, the MarketingManagers main
priority is sorting out the problems that have been identified with Manchester Ales
traditional product range. Nevertheless, realizing the importance of Romberg,
George Findlay has been given a date for presenting his plans to the Board of
Directors.
With regard to the overall objective, I will produce four sub aims, which will help to
more clearly identify areas for change and development.
2. Aims
1.Produce a comprehensive 12 months Marketing Plan for Manchester Ales and
Romberg brand.
2.Develop Romberg s market potential in the UK. 3.Undertake analysis of the data
provided in case study and appendices by using multiple analysis techniques.
3. Selection and Justification of Tasks
3.1 Marketing Audit
This is an examination of an organisation s marketing environment, objectives,
strategies, performance and activities. It identifies strengths and weaknesses and it
aims to identify key strategic issues, problem areas and opportunities. To be effective
the marketing audit must be continually carried out. It is not a one off activity, it has
to be

The argumentthat asset prices are set by rational investors is part of the grand oral
traditionin economics and is often attributedto Milton Friedman, one of the
greatesteconomists of the century and one of the greatestdebatersof all time. But the
argument has two fundamental problems. First, even if asset priceswere set only by
rationalinvestors in the aggregate, knowing what individual investors are doing might
still be of interest. Second, although the argumentis intuitively appealing and
reassuring, its adherents have rarely spelled it out carefully. Suppose a markethas two
kinds of investors: rational investors (rationals), who behave like agents in economics
textbooks, and quasi rational investors (quasi s),people who are trying as hard as they
can to make good investmentdecisions but make predictablemistakes. Suppose also
that two assets in this market,X and Y, areobjectivelyworth the same amount but
cannotbe transformedfrom one into the other. Finally, assume that the quasi s thinkX
is worth more thanY, an opinion thatcould change (quasi soften changetheirminds)
while the rationalsknow that X and Y are worth the same. What conditions are
necessary to assure that the prices of X and Y will be the same, as they would be in a

45. Dave Egger s Shortcomings In Zeitoun
In his national bestselling novel Zeitoun, author Dave Eggers draws sympathy from
his audience by applying the three appeals during the documentation of a muslim
family s experience with racial prejudice in post 9/11 Katrina. Eggers purpose calls
upon painting a vivid picture of the discrimination towards the protagonist and his
family before and after Hurricane Katrina. His tone is often sentimental and builds
emotional appeal.
Throughout the novel, Zeitoun experiences a number of shortcomings due to his race.
Eggers often employs pathos during such moments and uses an objective tone to
indirectly voice his opinions to his readers. By utilizing this method, his prose is
subtly convincing in a way that allows readers to form their own similar ... Show

His work during Katrina involved compassionate actions and centralized the
rhetoricals of pathos. However, many of the actions went unrecognized or
completely ignored by the officials who were assisting him. One example would be
his persistent care in feeding the neighborhood dogs that were stranded and
uncared for in deserted houses. Zeitoun sympathy for the dogs allowed their
hunger to be dissolved. Zeitoun s effort towards the dogs immediately went to
waste after being arrested by the police. He pleads to the officials to take care of
them, but later finds them to be deceitful. The stench hit him immediately. He knew
the dogs were dead before he saw them (Pg. 280) Eggers urges his readers visualize
the distrust that the soldiers had toward Zeitoun. Despite his attempts to care for the
dogs at the expense of his time and personal resources, his pleas to save the innocent
dogs are scornfully disregarded due to the arrogance and skepticism of officials. Thus,
the dogs went uncared for and died. From his neighbors to the dogs, Zeitoun s
dedication of his trustworthiness and sympathetic heart exhibits a trustful attitude
towards his community that the government fails to

47. Why Is Beowulf So Famous
The story Beowulf takes place of some interesting things. In this story you will
meet many different and interesting people. This book is very fun to read. Scyld of
Scefing the first king of the Danes and great grandfather to Hrothgar. Scefing was a
very brave king. Hrothgar was also a really barve king. He has been giving to the
people since his dad was alive. The main reason Hrothgar was so famous is because
he built a mead hall. He named that mead hall Heorot. This mead hall attracted so
many people. Grendelwas the beast that attacked the mead hall. One night while
everyone was celebrating the mead hall and singing about God and how God created
the world, Grendel got mad. Grendel is against God and worships the devil. So one
night
48. Tractors In The Grapes Of Wrath
The Grapes of Wrath written by John Steinbeck focus on the causes of the dust
bowl and the people in it. Within the book chapter five clearly shows how the
author displays his views of the banks and the tenant farmers. Steinbeck does this
by using point of view, and selection of detail Within the chapter steinbeck focuses
on the description of the tractor drivers hired by the new caretakers of the farm.
He states how the drivers loved the machines in a completely different way then
they loved the land like the previous farmers did. The author does this by stating
how the drivers loved the land no more than the banks did, who loved the land only
for a profit. As opposed to the previous farmers who had loved the land on a more
intimate level as they had lived there all their lives. Steinbeck then goes on to show
the mechanical love the driver has for the tractor. This is mechanical because of the
way steinbeck references the machined surfaces and the surgical work. Furthermore
the mechanical aspect can be supported by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the drivers are sitting on break and eating their food the Tenets watch in
hunger and disbelief. This detail shows the nature of the Tenets caused by the
tractors. The Tenets are all left hungry because a few tractors came in and took
everyone s job. Because of this Tenets are left hungry while the drivers sit pretty.
Again this perspective is shown through The tractors willingness to completely
destroy the Tenet house. After arguing the Tenet is shown the drivers point of view
leading to the driver explaining how he will plow through the Tenets house if he
does not comply. The Tenet can only try to grasp why the driver would do such a
thing especially to his own people. Steinbeck s imagery by use of detail shows the
innocent good nature of the Tenets through their conversation with the driver while
also showing the ruthless nature of the Tractor and it s
49. Hobby Lobby
Hobby Lobby Practice what you Preach An organization, in its simplest form, is
comprised of people brought together to achieve a common goal whether it be
solving a problem, selling a product or providing a service. The existence of the
organization is wholly dependent on the collective body of individuals involved and
it is these individuals that are the driving force behind the success or failure of a
company. The relationships that connect the people within the organization dictate
how the culture is developed and perceived. Organizational cultureis the summation
of the underlying organizational values manifesting as collective assumptions,
attitudes, beliefs, expectations and norms. Grounded in the customs and... Show more

Integrating Christian principles into the work environment can be a challenge in
today s secular climate however one avenue that Hobby Lobby uses to effectively
demonstrate their values is through their store hours. Signs posted at their stores
state that they are closed Sundays to allow employees time with their families and
time to worship. This however is the only discernible illustration of their core
values. When asked about how they characterize biblical principles the employee
responses were varied and sometimes ambiguous. Of the few employees who were
able to define what biblical principles signified to them, a common theme appeared.
More than one employee referred to the biblical passage Mathew 7:12 the Golden
Rule, roughly translated into do unto others as you would have others do unto you.
Other illustrations were doing the right thing and having faith in the people around
you .
Basic Assumptions The third and deepest level of organizational culture posited by
Edgar Schein is basic assumptions. Basic or underlying assumptions are the
unconscious and intangible mechanisms that become ingrained and provide a sense
of security. Often taken for granted, these assumptions are communicated through
behavior and non verbal cues reflecting the enacted values within the organization
which may or may not correspond with espoused values expressed by leadership
(Nelson amp; Quick, 2011).
50. Positive And Negative Aspects Of Living In An...
We are told we live in a network society. But is this just good news? What are the
positive and negative aspects of living in a highly interconnected world? Discuss with
reference to techno optimists and techno pessimists.
We live in a highly interconnected world due to the increase in technologyin our
everyday lives, Marshall McLuhan calls this world interconnected by an electronic
nervous system a global village (McLuhan n.d.). Theorists for example Manuel
Castells call this new social structure the network society he defines the network
society as a social structure made of networks in all the key dimensions of social
organisation and social practice (Castells and Castells 2010). The internet of things
is a networked world of connected devices, objects, and people (Greengard 2015).
This technology has the potential to help people in many ways but could it also be
used to spy on users in particular the controversy around Samsung smart TV s.
The Samsung smart TV includes; voice recognition, auto detection of devices
plugged in, smart view which connects with your phone (Samsung TV: SUHD,
Smart TV n.d.) and some versions also included motion control. A techno optimist
would say all this technology increases the user experience and ease of usage. Users
can navigate the system with a small gesture or word without having to get up for the
remote. This is the lean back experience and it is enhanced by making it easier and
more natural interacting with the technology, to heighten the overall viewing
experience.( Visualizing the Future of User Experience | Smart TV n.d.). The
Samsung smart hub also allows users access to multiple apps and streaming sites all
in one place(Samsung Smart Hub n.d.). Convergence of media platforms blending of
the media, telecommunications and computer industries (Grant and Wilkinson 2009)
and uniting them in one place benefits the user as they only need one device to access
everything on.
Opposing this view many may argue that technology is making us lazy and taking
away control from the user. Marshall McLuhan famously quoted the medium is the
message meaning that the medium has a greater impact on society than the message
delivered by it. Consequently, the smart TV s
