Violence In American Schools
Violence in American schools is dramatically increasing every day at an alarming rate. Whether it is a
generic fistfight between students, or a horrific school shooting, we hear about some form of violence
occurring in American schools nearly every day, including in our own local schools, such as my
school, the Altoona Area Junior High School. This kind of behavior in our school, AAJHS, is
obviously a major safety hazard. In an attempt to lessen this violence and protect students, principals
should take action and begin conducting random locker searches to check for guns, knives, and any
other weapons contributing to the excessive violence in our school. Taking this action would also help
deter the selling and use of drugs and alcohol in our school, and it would also make students, parents,
and teachers feel safer in our school.
Initially, not only violence is an acute issue in our school, but the selling of drugs and alcohol is also a
matter of grave concern. Random locker searches would help to solve this issue because not only

They would see this as a major invasion of privacy and personal belongings. While, yes, school staff
searching through one s personal belongings can seem like an invasion of privacy, this argument,
however, is invalid. If people want students to be as safe as possible at school, everyone is going to
have to make a few sacrifices. Above all, safety trumps privacy. If parents want their children to be
safe, and students want to feel safe, they are going to have to sacrifice a little of their privacy. But why
should that matter? If they have nothing incriminating stashed away in their locker, why should they
worry if someone would look through it? Clearly, a child s safety should be put above their personal
wishes of privacy. If their safety is ignored, drastic accidents are much more likely to

The Financial Accounting Standards Board Essay
On February 26, 2016, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) issued an Accounting
Standards Update (ASU) which revised the standards on leasing. The intent for this revision was to
improve how leases are being reported on the financial statements. The consensus is that the
classification tests in current use for making this determination fail to provide a faithful and accurate
representation for leasing transactions in general. In 2005, the U.S. Securities and Exchange
Commission had also made recommendations which indicated this need for change in regard to how
leases were being reported. Overall, it is believed that this change would ensure greater transparency
in the financial statements concerning these type transactions. As commonplace as lease arrangements
are, accounting for leases are not quite so clear cut. One of the hotly debated topics for leasing
standards that is currently being discussed is how off balance sheet financing presents an erroneous
and misleading view of a company s true financial position. This problem began when companies
would plan ways to circumvent the rules currently under U.S. GAAP in attempts to classify leases as
operating leases when in actuality they were capital leases. An example of this when a company
purposely designs the leasing arrangements so that the lease ends at 74% of the asset s estimated life
whereas one of the U.S. GAAP criteria for leases directs that it must be a non cancellable lease term

Protests In Spain
Spain is facing an uprising in politics and their economy due to the contested independence
referendum in the Catalonia region. The Catalonia region is located on the border of Spain near
Barcelona and is very different than the other regions. Such as Madrid, Catalonia has a different
cultural heritage and language than Madrid, which is mainly why Catalonia wants to become
independant. Catalonia is the wealthiest, most different region in Spain and can already present itself
as a region that is independent with a stable economy. Catalonia is one of Spain s richest regions and
has very different cultural value and languages than the other regions in Spain. Since 2010, the
Catalonia region has been gaining momentum to split apart ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Catalonia is a democracy, and in a democracy the citizens are allowed to share their voices. But on
that Sunday, October 1st, over 900 people were injured for protesting and voting. Many police fired
rubber bullets and used batons to beat the protesters and voters up. These were not the same protesters
as before, these citizens were in support of the split between Catalonia and Spain. Downtown
Barcelona has been wild since this idea of splitting came about but there has been talk about positive
outcomes in the future for the region of Catalonia and Spain. Since Catalonia has proven itself as an
independent region in the past, there are many new aspects. On December 21st, there will be a new
regional election because the one before had 90% of voters supported this idea and the police did not
understand. Also with the voting day before, many in Madrid believe the voting was fair/ true but the
Prime Minister Rajoy believed that it was illegal and not fair because many did not vote due to the
physical abuse given by the police. Until December 21st, the best thing anyone can do is to just wait.
Waiting for any responses and news about what has happened in the Catalonia region can take forever,
but is hopefully worth the wait. As Spain waits to hear the news, the Catalonia region got help from
abroad, except help from Europe because what the Catalonia

Architecture And Design Of The Modern Era
As individuals, we all have multifarious requirements for the buildings we use and the places we live
in, work and socialise in needs to mirror this diversity. In other words, to suit whatever purpose we
require from the structure and to make sure it functions as the designer envisaged.
Construction methods are constantly changing, and yet we can still appreciate the beauty, charm and
graceful lines of architecture dating back hundreds of years. This includes magnificent buildings of the
modern period as well as the traditional historical ones, brought to us from across the world by the
medium of pictures, either as moving images or stills.
Artists of each progressive era found these buildings a source of fascination, as they revealed a breath
taking beauty in the urban landscape.
It can be argued that architecture and design have proved more significant in the establishment of
cultures as civilisations developed. For the vast majority of the population, buildings are what they
saw and used in their everyday lives, it was either a place they lived in, worked in or sometimes
visited. Generally it was only the rich and privileged and this included religious establishments who
saw, and more importantly appreciated what was known as art . The general population was fairly
ambiguous to art and the aesthetics of architecture by adopting a more pragmatic view of their
surroundings. For most of them it did not excite their intellect, as they were more concerned about
order and

Cuneiform Writing And Hieroglyphics Essay
The investigation attempts to answer the question: How is cuneiform writing and hieroglyphics similar
and different? The research question is relevant because these ancient writing techniques are the base
for the writing system in modern times. The issues that will be addressed are: the reasons behind each
writing system, the important documents recorded, the way both systems were laid out. This
investigation will focus on the time period of 1800 BCE, around the time of Hammurabi s Code, to
150 BCE, around the time of the Rosetta Stone. The main places investigated will be ancient Egypt
and Mesopotamia,in the Middle East near the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, focusing on
Sumerians and Babylonians. This will be accomplished through a thorough examination of The

for breaking a commandment should also be displayed. The New Testament teaches that the Old

Crystallization Lab
Introduction
In Lab 1, Production of a Solid: Crystallization and Melting Point, the objective was to become more
familiar with basic lab techniques and tools by implementing several basic techniques, crystallization,
determination of the melting point and thermometer correction, in order to determine the melting point
of Benzoic Acid and identify an unknown solid acid through recrystallization. Crystallization is a
separation technique used to purify a solid substance. The process separates a solid that has been
dissolved into a solution. Crystallization is based on solubility rules and relies on the difference in
boiling points amongst the substances. The melting point is the temperature that a solid changes into
its liquid state. It can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the solution was filtered, it needed to cool in order to start forming the crystals. The product did
not cool down enough properly before the decision was made to start scraping the flash. This physical
disturbance and incorrect temperature is what lead to the development of poor crystals. The
temperature of the solution was not cold enough to form proper crystals and that was what diminished
our yield. Putting the flask into ice bath, and limiting the disturbances surround it, would have been a
best option to decrease the temperature properly and provide the best environment for the crystals to
form. By using the thermometer correction with Benzoic Acid, the melting point of 122.2C was
observed. A 0.2C thermometer correction was used. The range the unknown melt was 149.9C 153.2C.
With the temperature correction, the melting point range was determined to be 150.1C 153.4C. The
crystals completely melted at 153.4C. Adipic acid has a melting point of 153.1C, which is within our
observed range2. Thus, the unknown was determined to be Adipic

Introduction
In this essay I have explained the importance of computerised accounting using ERP solutions. First I
explain various accounting processes in a company in two broad classes. Then I explore various
features in the mySAP ERP solution and how they cater to these processes. Then I explain the recent
changes in accounting standards due to the Sarbanes Oxley act and their repercussion to the design of
ERP solutions. Then I explained how mySAP helps companies to be compatible with the regulation.
The success of ERP implementation is based on various factors. I have researched 3 famous failure

Accounts Receivable/Accounts payable
This component records customer accounting data and manages the in cohesion with the general
ledger component. It connects the accounts receivable account to the general ledger through a special
account.
Another similar component is the accounts payable component, which records the vendor accounting
data and manages it via the general ledger component. It performs the same task as the previous
component but records the accounts payable through another reconciliation account.
Fixed Assets Accounting
This component maintains a comprehensive record of all the fixed assets of the company. It then
analyses the records in compliance to the accounting principles tailored to the country the company
operates in. This is a very important component as fixed assets form considerable portion of the total
assets for certain companies and its accurate representation in the balance sheet becomes essential.
Inventory Accounting

Summary Of The Essay Homeless Man Interviews Himself

Homeless Man Interviews Himself? by Albert Bliss
Based on reading the article, Homeless Man Interviews Himself by Albert Bliss, I have come to the
conclusion that this is overall an example of Closed Form Writing. I firmly believe that this article
conforms to the basis of the closed form writing style but it dabbles in the open formed style of
writing. There are several examples in the essay that convince me of this.
First of all, there is a thesis in the first paragraph of the article letting the reader know what is going to
happen. The thesis was I have just finished lunch and I feel like interviewing myself. Since the
interviewer and interviewee is the same person, I have split myself in half. I call the interviewer
Mister Bliss and the interviewee Al. This lets me as the reader know that I am going to be reading an
interview. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance the article is set up a question and answer format, which guides me through the interview.
Secondly every question the interviewer asked was based off of the previous answer given by the
interviewee . By doing this the writer has given the reader a clear guide and a deeper understanding of
the essay. For example when the Mister Bliss asked Al why he felt like the homeless men he had once
spied on as an adolescent he considered heroes. Al responded with great reasoning that he felt as if
those men had reminded him of the some of the great pioneers he was learning about in school; Daniel

Compare And Contrast Ancient Greek City States
Greece was organized into many different city states. All city states differed from each other in some
ways but all shared some characteristics too. City state is an independent or nearly independent state
in which political and cultural activities are concentrated in a single urban center (Legon). They were
the main city with an area of land around them. Every city state had their own coins, government, and
laws. The most common governments in the city states consisted of monarchies, oligarchies,
dictatorships, and sometimes democracies. Greek city states all were very similar but had differences.
There were many types of governments in ancient Greece, but Athens s government was the most
unique in that time period. Most governments

The Infectious Diseases Society Of America
The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) has recently noted several model antibiotic
resistant bacteria strains with redesigned capabilities in pathogenesis, transmission and resistance.
These several strains, Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae,
Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterobacter species, have been given the
acronym based title of the ESKAPE Pathogens. These strains of bacteria compromise one of the
biggest threats faced by physicians today not because of the infectious and devastating illnesses they
lead to, but because of their ability to resist antibiotics in the healthcare setting. Failure for industries,
academia and government to cooperate and develop research/development operations has left
healthcare providers one step behind in the fight against these new brands of infectious diseases. A
lack of research/development operations has left the healthcare industry with antiquated antibiotics no
longer capable of targeting and eradicating these microorganisms in human systems. Klebsiella
pneumoniae (contributing the K in the ESKAPE acronym) is a strain of bacteria that has recently
developed resistance against a class of ÎČ Lactam antibiotics developed from thienamycin (a naturally
derived product, discovered in 1976, of Streptomyces cattleya) known as carbapenems. K.

Media Bias Definition
In what ways can bias be defined, according to the authors?
The authors define bias in the text in three main ways. The first is distortion bias which is applied to
news that purportedly distorts or falsifies news. The second is content bias this happens when news
outlets favor one side rather than providing fair and equal treatment to both. The third and final bias
definition in the text is decision making bias, this bias look s at the mindset s of journalists who
allegedly produce the biased content.
The authors argue that elites do care what people think. What is the reason they offer?
The authors say those in dominate society or better known as the elites care about what people think
because they want people to behave in certain ways. Also the elites want people to tolerate elite
activities. The reading states the best definition of power is the ability to get others to do what one ...

The View Of Citizen Journalism
Discuss the view that citizen journalism represents a challenge to commercially driven, conglomerate
owned journalism that is important both to the news industry and wider society.
(2136/2000 words)
Prediction 52:
In the future, everyone will be a news reporter.
(Addams, 1997)
Coinciding with the growth of the internet, citizen journalism has generated popularity over the years
and is no longer considered niche. Modernly armed with smartphones and social media outlets, the
general public are often able to record and publish material long before a journalist has even caught
scent of a story. In an industry where being first to publish is highly important it s understandable why

A more complex and positive definition of citizen journalism by Courtney C. Radsch, suggests public
journalism is an activist form of newsgathering that could be an alternative to mainstream media.
Citizen journalism is reporting that functions outside mainstream media institutions, often as a
response to shortcoming in the professional journalistic field, that uses similar journalistic practices
but is driven by different objectives and ideals and relies on alternative sources of legitimacy than
traditional or mainstream journalism. (Jljtan005.blogspot.co.uk, 2014) In the view of Radsch then,
citizen journalists, without the constraints of working for a commercially driven outlet, are able to
make up for shortcomings present in traditional media and are able to offer news that previously
wouldn t have existed.
The growing online communities of citizen journalists might make the medium seem like a modern
phenomenon however as suggested by Heidi Cohen (2011) in her article, How Social Media Helps
Old Media, the concept of citizen journalism can be traced back to the 13th century when town criers
or bellmen made public announcements of news. In a medieval Britain, a large percentage of the
population could neither read nor write and so were informed of goings on by a town crier. This free

Michaelangelo, Raphael And Michelangelo s Creation Of God
The Bible, the bestselling book of all time, has made an impact on our society like nothing else. Many
of our ideas and thoughts are either directly or indirectly based on ideas from the Bible but while the
Bible s influence is prominent in society, has it always been for the best? Our views on women are one
of the many things that have been affected due to the Bible, a lot of times negatively. Women
throughout the Bible have been described as either being lesser than men or as the source of evil in
this world. The most obvious instance of this being shown is through the figure of Eve. More times
than not, Eve is blamed for the banishment of mankind from the garden of Eden as she gave a fruit
from the tree of knowledge to Adam and they both consumed it. Due to this, many people see her as
being the devil in disguise and often, many artists choose to depict like that. While many artists
choose to depict Eve as evil, some choose to depict Eve in another way. Michelangelo and Raffaello
Sanzio, known also as Raphael, were two of these types of artists who challenged the existing ideas of
Eve through their art. Both artists were heavily influenced by Leonardo da Vinci, called the treatise of
psychology , who may have taught them to pay close attention the effect the emotions and actions had
on the people in their art, which can be seen throughout the following paintings. Through
Michelangelo s Creation of Adam and Fall and Expulsion from the garden of Eden on the ceiling of

Emile Durkheim and The Science of Sociology Essay
Introduction
Emile Durkheim was born in France in April of 1858 and died in November of 1917. He was from a
close Jewish community that he continued to be close to even after breaking with the Jewish church.
Having come from a long family line of rabbis, he had planned to follow in that profession. Durkheim
was known as the Father of Sociology. He was a liberal, a modernist, and a nationalist. He was a very
ambitious man; this ambition was illustrated by the accomplishments he made over the course of his
life.
During the conflict surrounding the Dreyfus Affair, Durkheim used the new field of sociology to try to
make sense of society and the world around him. The Dreyfus Affair was a government cover up

He did not want to predict individual suicide but rather to study suicide rates. He looked at it from
more of a statistical and analytical method. Suicide was defined a few times throughout the work, as
the definition was changed to consider a perspective that he had not yet taken into account. A common
idea of suicide was a positive and violent action such as a person shooting themselves, but suicide can
also be a negative act such as a refusal to eat.
Durkheim named suicide as a category that can also cover some instances not usually associated with
suicide. A few examples of that are a soldier going into battle knowing he will be killed, a martyr that
dies for the cause, and a businessman that kills himself after going bankrupt. Most people would not
consider that soldier suicidal nor would they consider the martyrdom a suicide. However, both of
those scenarios include people going into a situation despite the fact that they know they will die.
According to Durkheim (1951), it did not matter if the person just accepted death as unavoidable or
they actually wanted to die because the two scenarios were close enough to be broadly grouped
together (Durkheim, Suicide: A Study in Sociology, 1951). Basically he was saying that if the person
sacrifices their life and gives their soul, the most precious gift they have, it can be classified as suicide.
Suicide, being a personal decision that affects only that person, was generally thought

paper will attempt to draw a conclusion on which theory or explanation best explains cognitive aging.
The first theory that aims to explain cognitive aging is executive functioning or executive control.
Executive functioning tends to become entangled with speed of processing across the literature.
However, it should be noted that executive function encompasses many complex tasks and cognitive
facets. A study done by C.T Albinet et al. (2012) tried to identify the key elements of executive
functioning thus allowing it to stand alone. Albinet et al. (2012) identified that executive functioning is
the ability to create goals, planning, action sequences monitoring, mental flexibility, inhibition
updating working memory (Albinet et al, 2012, pg.2). Essentially executive functioning is higher level
everyday functioning. A study done by Cepeda, Blackwell Munakata (2013) suggests that executive
function is needed behind many tasks that may be considered part of speed of processing. An example
the study (Cepeda, Blackwell, Munakata, 2013) provided was in young children

China s Political And Social Structures
China is the fastest emerging political power in the world, a power that in a short amount of time
turned from a third rate industrial nation with lots of raw potential, to the second largest economy and
one of the largest militaries in the world. But is China s political and social structures unique?
Certainly, the Chinese system possesses certain aspects similar to what already exists in other modern
nation states and their governments, however, it is how these pieces coelute together into a coherent
political and economic machine that makes the model unique. Politically, the Chinese Communist
Party is quite unique. Most authoritarian political parties are either dominated by party elites who only
pass on power to loyalists, or merely a military regime. The CCP, however, is significantly
technocratic, and much more inclusive. Many members of the CCP are not just military leaders or
individuals with law degrees, they also include engineers and more recently business leaders.
Furthermore, although there is a level of patronage in Chinese politics and society known as Guanxi,
in fact as Mingxing Liu states in his paper about advancement in the CCP Central Committee the
literature suggests that leaders were able to stay in power because they engaged in factional politics
instead of selecting the most capable ofïŹcials (Victor Shih 2012) However, that was during the pre Xi
Jinping eras and quantifiable efforts have been made to combat corruption, especially in local

Virtues Of Happiness Moral Ethics
Virtues of Happiness Moral Ethics
An individual s virtue ethics does not depend on the society that they live in, the spirituality that they
follow, or their culture/upbringing; but they depend exclusively on the individuals themselves.
Aristotle introduced moral ethics theory in his Nicomachean Ethics books. The idea of ethics is
questioning long term goals, what sort of person do I want to be instead of instantaneous decisions
that question what should I do in this situation? Virtues are not so much to do with right or wrong but
rather where that decision is coming from. What is in the heart of the person that answers/acts is what
matters in the virtuous world. Instead of concentrating on what is the right thing to do, virtue ethics
asks how you can be a better person. According to Aristotle this pursuit of constantly trying to
improve one s self to be a better person is what true happiness is in life, as he underlines in his own
definition of happiness: happiness is a certain activity of the soul in conformity with perfect virtue. (1)
(Aristotle, Nicomachean Ethics Book 1).
As it is with all things, the more you practice something, the better you will be at it. Virtues are not
born into us, so the same principle of habits applies to our development of a virtuous life or to a
person s behavior throughout their lives. The more you develop the habit of acting virtuous, the closer
you will become to achieving a virtuous life. This is a lifelong commitment as a person

Pedagogy Of The Oppressed Chapter 2 Analysis
Chapter 2 of Freire s Pedagogy of the Oppressed discusses a failed teaching method between the
student and teacher. It s a common mistake for teachers to treat the teaching process as a banking
concept . Freire discusses how this concept takes away creativity from students by forcing them to
memorize facts as the teacher deposits them into their minds. It s not expected of the student to
comprehend what they re learning. It s expected of them to take what the teacher is saying as fact
without critically thinking about the meaning behind it. Freire explains,
Education thus becomes an act of depositing, in which the students are the depositories and the teacher
is the depositor. Instead of communicating, the teacher issues communiqués and makes deposits which
the students patiently receive, memorize, and repeat. This is the banking concept of education, in
which the scope of action ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an oppressive society, a group of individuals are expected to adapt and be controlled by a more
powerful group without question. Similar to a banking concept of education, at times it seems the
student is not expected to think for themselves. They listen to what the teacher deposits into their
mind, and they adapt. I strongly agree that this limits comprehension and creativity and forces you to
adapt to thinking like a robot. He makes a strong case with his analogy, Four times four is
sixteen......The student records, memorizes, and repeats these phrases without perceiving what four
times four really means. It s easy to get discouraged in school when it feels like information is being
thrown at you without much encouragement to fully grasp it. It s nearly impossible to truly understand
a concept when you re forced to memorize it immediately for a test. In conclusion, teachers with this
mindset should understand that to be a true educator is to encourage the student to take the time to
comprehend the material

(An analysis of the Israeli Palestinian Conflict)
When the Israeli Palestinian conflict is mentioned, many people cringe. This topic is the center of
controversy and the main topic of discussion at peace meetings. Although several meetings have taken
place over time to resolve this conflict, fighting continues to rage on. This dispute between the Israelis
and Palestinians threatens the entire world. Now with access to nuclear warheads and chemical
weapons, this quarrel could easily get out of hand and affect the entire world. Although most people
have heard about the Israeli Palestinian conflict, they do not truly know the history and actual events

currently a global issue that worries many countries around the world. The United Nations held the
first peace talk in 1967 and named the talk UN 242. This talk outlined an exchange of land for peace
(XXX). This talk established some guidelines that future peace talks would bring up. The next
meeting was at Camp David in 1978. This conference expanded on UN 242 and a peace treaty
between Israel and Egypt was signed. Egypt was the first Middle East country to recognize Israel as
an independent country (XXX). There was no more peace talks until 1991 when tenses became
strained between the Israelis and Palestinians again. This talk that was held in 1991 took place in
Madrid, Spain. Several Arab nations were invited to this conference to encourage more peace treaties
with Israel. Shortly after the Madrid Conference another meeting was held in 1993 that was dubbed
the Oslo Agreement. During the Oslo Agreement, the PLO and Israel agreed to recognize each other
as individual states and Israel said they would pull out of West Bank and Gaza. However, there was
much opposition to this plan, so it was only partly put into practice. This agreement can be considered
the most productive meeting between the two warring countries. There was another meeting at Camp

A Brief Note On The Assembly Operator
Chapter 15
15.4) Starving is defined as the situation where the assembly operator has finished the assigned work
on the give work unit time load but they didn t receive the next unit at the station. Workers are forced
to the situation of starving. Blocking is defined as the work completed at the assigned time limit but
cannot be passed to the downstream station because of the reason that the worker is not ready to
receive the unit. In that case, worker is blocked from working.
15.7) In production line terminology, line efficiency means when the time of downtime of the line is
averaged in, the proportion time limit on the production line. It is basically the ration of theoretical
cycle time to actual production time.
15.9) Service time Ts is defined as the actual amount of period available for work at the station to
complete the assigned task and the cycle time Tc is defined as the periodic time interval between the
arrival of work load at the station. The difference between the both is the repositioning time, Tr.
Mathematically it can be defined as the Ts= Tc Tr.
15.11) Precedence constraint is the restriction on the purchase where the work elements are
performed. There are few elements that must be completed before others. For instance, a threaded hole
must be drilled before it is tapped.
15.12) Balance efficiency is defined as the work content time limit is portioned into the total possible

Influences on Stephen Crane s The Red Badge of Courage
People tend to be greatly influenced by stories, news, and other contemporary sources of knowledge,
which ultimately affects the impact they have on the world. Stephen Crane was greatly impacted by
the time period in which he lived. One such influence was the popular literary style of Realism.
Realism is the trend in which literature is based on the true nature of everyday occurrences devoid of
any fantasy or romance. It is the raw depiction of what life and society is actually like. This literary
style can be found in many of Stephen Crane s novels. Religion also had a significant impact on the
way Stephen Crane wrote his novels. He was an atheist which brought about the idea that humans are
just part of nature and must solve their own problems without the intervention of a higher being. This
notion is evident with the protagonist of The Red Badge of Courage. Henry Fleming, a young union
soldier in the Civil War, must overcome the fear of putting his life at risk to achieve what he wants
most which is honor. Honor comes from actively participating in battle and sacrificing his life for the
cause. Honor is physically represented from a wound noted as the Red Badge . In the end Henry doesn
t consult in a higher being and achieves what he wants most by overcoming the mental obstacles and
ultimately finding the strength within to realize what courage actually is. Accompanied by the literary
movements and his religion, his time period was heavily influenced by the

Generalized Anxiety Disorder ( Cbt )
Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Different Styles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Tornike Rakviashvili
University of Maryland Baltimore Co.
The purpose of this paper is to examine different ways of using CBT in treating anxiety disorder.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the most used approach in treating anxiety and
depression. There are different styles of CBT that are used to treat different subtypes of anxieties.
However, the main focus of this paper will be about incorporating different intervention programs to
CBT to treat Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD).

anxiety and related behavioral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, it is important to carefully follow diagnostic features provided in DSM V for each type
of anxiety disorder in order to avoid misdiagnose. In the United States, 18.1% of the adult population
suffers from different anxiety disorders, and lifetime prevalence of GAD is among 5.7% of those
adults (Kessler, 2005).
The main feature of (GAD) is characterized by excessive anxiety and worry (apprehensive
expectation) about a number of events or activities (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
Individuals, who are diagnosed with GAD, often have worrisome thoughts that are hard to control
which inhibits them from concentrating on everyday tasks. To distinguish GAD from nonpathological
anxiety, it is important to keep in mind several features. The worries associated with GAD are
excessive and problematic for psychical functioning, more pervasive, pronounced and distressing, and
are accompanied by physical symptoms (e.g., restlessness) (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
It is important to note that symptoms of GAD can be misunderstood for different reasons. Risk and
prognostic factors can be temperamental, environmental, and genetic and physiological, additionally,
cultural factors in the expression of GAD also need to be considered. Given the information above
about GAD, it can be concluded that it is important to have treatment for such disorder in order to help
individuals have

The Motivation For Jerry And Christopher At A Ice Cream...
During my screenplay workshop, I received a lot of helpful suggestions on my overall motivation of
my characters. In my revision process, I tried to focus more on the overall motive for my two main
characters. For example, I added the motivation for Jerry and Christopher to open an ice cream parlor.
This helped with my revision of plot and main conflict because the two characters did not have
enough money for the down payment on the open space. As a result, they decide to rob a bank in order
to get the money for the payment. Another thing I tried to work on during my revision was the
characterization of my two main characters. The two characters are, indeed, stupid. However, my goal
was to make their appearance a little different and they way they spoke different. An example of my
use of characterization is when Christopher speaks. For example, Christopher is very goofy like Jerry.
However, he has a small sense of responsibility/wisdom. In the car, he is the one to have a notebook
with all the information on the vacant space and bank. Moreover, he is the one that starts to become
serious when he fights the hostage in the bank. Although both of the characters are stupid, Christopher
s character is what keeps the guys going. Without Chris, Jerry would be clueless. We can see Jerry s
characterization through his actions. Jerry does not think anything through. For instance, in the bank,
he brings in business cards with both their names on them. This is something stupid

Essay On To Kill A Mockingbird Coming Of Age
In the book To Kill A Mockingbird, Scout grows up in a small town where nothing normally happens.
When her dad is given a case to defend a black man, she gets thrown into a world where racism has
been the norm. She hasn t been exposed to something like this, so she is confused, but she grows more
mature in that time. She and Jem both come of age in different ways in the story and get a taste of the
real world. Scout and Jem both show maturation throughout the book. Their father s decision to
defend a black man opens them up to the harsh world of racism and prejudice, meanwhile he shows
them how to be compassionate to people and not to follow the norm. The reason To Kill A

and asks them to be more and model their father s behavior. Even though racism is a big problem of

officials of targeting individuals for suspicion of crime based on the individual s race, ethnicity,

racial profiling especially when driving; law enforcement officials target black driver for minor traffic

Libertarianism And Anti-Landmines
Motorolla, a multinational telecommunication company was involved in selling electronic parts to

January 1996, the news broadcasting Motorola s semiconductor chip being found in a Chinese made

In accordance with consequentialism, their actions are considered to be wrong because of the
atrocities produced by landmines inflict massive harm to the human welfare. One million people have

the landmines being planted on the homes of these people significantly prevents them from living a

Analysis Of The Starry Night Art
Cultural Artifacts The first work that I am evaluating is The Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh which
was created in June 1889 and is currently located at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The
Starry Night was painted during the post impressionist period, and is one of several that Van Gogh
produced while staying at the asylum in Saint Remy in southern France. According to Soomo
Learning (2017) the piece is a vision of dynamic spiritual movement from temporality to eternity
(Section 2.4.2 Art Gallery). The painting depicts an imagined view of the town of Saint Remy, with a
Dutch style church at the center and rolling hills in the background. It appears to be just before dawn
with bright stars, Venus, and the moon set in a vivid blue swirling sky. Contrasting the bright stars and
brilliant blue sky is a dark looming cypress tree that occupies the left side of the image and contains a
flamelike appearance. The second cultural artifact is the poem Stars Over Dordogne by Sylvia Plath
that was written while she was visiting France in 1960 and was published in 1962. The version of this
poem that I am using comes from the Soomo learning resource (Section 2.4.4 Literature Gallery). In
this poem Plath compares the dark sky and lonesome stars of her home to the showy and bright sky
and stars of Dordogne. The contrasting imagery of the two locations is coupled with the feeling that
the artist is using the stars and sky of home to symbolize herself. Common Theme The common

Job Satisfaction Is Defined As The Positive Feeling Felt...
Job Satisfaction
Job Satisfaction is defined as the positive feeling felt by an individual about a job which results from
and evaluation of the job s characteristics (Robbins Judge, 2013). With an understanding of job
satisfaction we will look at and describe the issues of three individuals and their three different jobs.
Describing their job satisfactions, dislikes, and how all this relates to their performances on the job.
The three different jobs that are presented for consideration of job satisfaction are an accountant
position where Maria works, a Quality Control Manager for an insurance company, and this is where
Darell works, and finally we have a Retail Store Manager for an outdoor company where Mike works.
All three of these jobs have characteristics that can contribute to increased levels of job satisfaction.
All three of these jobs offer plenty of hours of work. This can lead to job stability and increase the
affective commitment that a person might have toward a job (Milligan, 2014). Maria s job as an
accountant gives her job satisfaction because she has intellectual abilities that allow her to do mental
thinking and reasoning. It could also be presumed that the Quality Control Manager and the Retail
Store Manager have the same intellectual abilities. For the Quality Control Manager position the
opportunity to travel all over the United States could produce job satisfaction. Finally the position of
the retail manager that Mike possesses gives job satisfaction

My Writing Style Of Writing
Throughout this class I have learn many different writing styles. We used APA form of writing to type
our paper and essay. I have also learned that it s good to take your time and spend more time thinking
about what to write, other than just righting a paper right off back. I have learned that it s not a good
idea to write a paper on the day it s done, that s more like a ruff daft. My teacher have helped me
understand different point of writing. Which all writing deal with an ethos, pathos and logos, either
one or all of them will run through anything that tell you anything in writing. From what emotion are
there to who have the rights to speak at the moment to what are the facts to agree with this person. As
a class we have read articles, bio from many people to understand that it s more then what the person
is writing. Reading between lines and analyzing a part of the story can tell you more then what the
writer is saying. Working together to understand something and work better than being alone thinking
about a situation you can t understand.
I have wrote many different kind of essay and paper. From a point of view of three person, first
person, what you think this person is telling you, to writing how you feel, what changed your life to
where do you see yourself in the next 10 years. I enjoyed this writing class and I know my teacher has
enjoy my present. The only bad thing I can say is I HATE writing annotated bibliography and
anything that have something to do with it,

Essay on Film Trailer Portfolio
Film Trailer Portfolio
When the task of creating a film trailer was first put to us, I had several ideas for the movie s context.
The first was of a movie in the action genre that dealt with revenge, whilst the other two were in the
horror genre. The horror genre appealed to me more, as a low budget film can still have the desired
effect by use of different filming techniques, and I wanted to depend more on a psychological aspect.
My first idea was to do a film about a poltergeist. I had watched several films such as Poltergeist , but
wanted to create a film that relied less on visual effects, something that leant towards the style of
Albert Hitchcock, who is still seen today as the Master of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I purchased the Exorcist DVD, which featured a making of documentary. Here I learned of Friedkin s
strict attention to detail, and also uncovered some of his secrets that made the film so effective. The
film features two main techniques throughout the film that I immediately thought about adding to my
own film, those being the use of lighting and sound. The film moves from very bright light scenes,
such as the films opening in the Middle East, to the darkness of Georgetown (the films setting), or
from the clean and well lit living room of the house, to the black and gloomy mist of the girl s
bedroom. Why?
The sound was used similarly, from eerily quiet to sudden loudness, one scene that uses this is the
sharp cut from the Priest s gentle dream of his mother, to the piercing scream of the little girl. Why
The use of restful music as the main soundtrack in The Exorcist added to the loud and quiet technique
Friedkin used, to create the sense that everything is calm. I myself began my trailer using this
technique, with some gentle music, so that when things begin to go wrong, the impact is more
substantial.
The voice that was created for the demon in this film was dubbed in synch after the scenes had been
shot. I used this technique to dub in the voice of the priest in my trailer, the line I dare not say was
recorded by microphone input

  • 2. Violence In American Schools Violence in American schools is dramatically increasing every day at an alarming rate. Whether it is a generic fistfight between students, or a horrific school shooting, we hear about some form of violence occurring in American schools nearly every day, including in our own local schools, such as my school, the Altoona Area Junior High School. This kind of behavior in our school, AAJHS, is obviously a major safety hazard. In an attempt to lessen this violence and protect students, principals should take action and begin conducting random locker searches to check for guns, knives, and any other weapons contributing to the excessive violence in our school. Taking this action would also help deter the selling and use of drugs and alcohol in our school, and it would also make students, parents, and teachers feel safer in our school. Initially, not only violence is an acute issue in our school, but the selling of drugs and alcohol is also a matter of grave concern. Random locker searches would help to solve this issue because not only would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They would see this as a major invasion of privacy and personal belongings. While, yes, school staff searching through one s personal belongings can seem like an invasion of privacy, this argument, however, is invalid. If people want students to be as safe as possible at school, everyone is going to have to make a few sacrifices. Above all, safety trumps privacy. If parents want their children to be safe, and students want to feel safe, they are going to have to sacrifice a little of their privacy. But why should that matter? If they have nothing incriminating stashed away in their locker, why should they worry if someone would look through it? Clearly, a child s safety should be put above their personal wishes of privacy. If their safety is ignored, drastic accidents are much more likely to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Financial Accounting Standards Board Essay On February 26, 2016, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) issued an Accounting Standards Update (ASU) which revised the standards on leasing. The intent for this revision was to improve how leases are being reported on the financial statements. The consensus is that the classification tests in current use for making this determination fail to provide a faithful and accurate representation for leasing transactions in general. In 2005, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission had also made recommendations which indicated this need for change in regard to how leases were being reported. Overall, it is believed that this change would ensure greater transparency in the financial statements concerning these type transactions. As commonplace as lease arrangements are, accounting for leases are not quite so clear cut. One of the hotly debated topics for leasing standards that is currently being discussed is how off balance sheet financing presents an erroneous and misleading view of a company s true financial position. This problem began when companies would plan ways to circumvent the rules currently under U.S. GAAP in attempts to classify leases as operating leases when in actuality they were capital leases. An example of this when a company purposely designs the leasing arrangements so that the lease ends at 74% of the asset s estimated life whereas one of the U.S. GAAP criteria for leases directs that it must be a non cancellable lease term that is ... The Catalonia region is located on the border of Spain near Barcelona and is very different than the other regions. Catalonia is the wealthiest, most different region in Spain and can already present itself as a region that is independent with a stable economy. Catalonia is a democracy, and in a democracy the citizens are allowed to share their voices. But on that Sunday, October 1st, over 900 people were injured for protesting and voting. Many police fired rubber bullets and used batons to beat the protesters and voters up. These were not the same protesters as before, these citizens were in support of the split between Catalonia and Spain. Downtown Barcelona has been wild since this idea of splitting came about but there has been talk about positive outcomes in the future for the region of Catalonia and Spain. Since Catalonia has proven itself as an independent region in the past, there are many new aspects. On December 21st, there will be a new regional election because the one before had 90% of voters supported this idea and the police did not understand. Also with the voting day before, many in Madrid believe the voting was fair/ true but the Prime Minister Rajoy believed that it was illegal and not fair because many did not vote due to the physical abuse given by the police. Until December 21st, the best thing anyone can do is to just wait. • 5. Architecture And Design Of The Modern Era As individuals, we all have multifarious requirements for the buildings we use and the places we live in, work and socialise in needs to mirror this diversity. In other words, to suit whatever purpose we require from the structure and to make sure it functions as the designer envisaged. Construction methods are constantly changing, and yet we can still appreciate the beauty, charm and graceful lines of architecture dating back hundreds of years. This includes magnificent buildings of the modern period as well as the traditional historical ones, brought to us from across the world by the medium of pictures, either as moving images or stills. Artists of each progressive era found these buildings a source of fascination, as they revealed a breath taking beauty in the urban landscape. It can be argued that architecture and design have proved more significant in the establishment of cultures as civilisations developed. For the vast majority of the population, buildings are what they saw and used in their everyday lives, it was either a place they lived in, worked in or sometimes visited. Generally it was only the rich and privileged and this included religious establishments who saw, and more importantly appreciated what was known as art . The general population was fairly ambiguous to art and the aesthetics of architecture by adopting a more pragmatic view of their surroundings. For most of them it did not excite their intellect, as they were more concerned about order and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Crystallization Lab Introduction In Lab 1, Production of a Solid: Crystallization and Melting Point, the objective was to become more familiar with basic lab techniques and tools by implementing several basic techniques, crystallization, determination of the melting point and thermometer correction, in order to determine the melting point of Benzoic Acid and identify an unknown solid acid through recrystallization. Crystallization is a separation technique used to purify a solid substance. The process separates a solid that has been dissolved into a solution. Crystallization is based on solubility rules and relies on the difference in boiling points amongst the substances. The melting point is the temperature that a solid changes into its liquid state. It can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the solution was filtered, it needed to cool in order to start forming the crystals. The product did not cool down enough properly before the decision was made to start scraping the flash. The temperature of the solution was not cold enough to form proper crystals and that was what diminished our yield. Putting the flask into ice bath, and limiting the disturbances surround it, would have been a best option to decrease the temperature properly and provide the best environment for the crystals to form. By using the thermometer correction with Benzoic Acid, the melting point of 122.2C was observed. A 0.2C thermometer correction was used. The range the unknown melt was 149.9C 153.2C. With the temperature correction, the melting point range was determined to be 150.1C 153.4C. The crystals completely melted at 153.4C. Summary Of The Essay Homeless Man Interviews Himself Erin Powell Rhetoric Composition 101 001 Ms. Armstead January 17, 2015 Homeless Man Interviews Himself? by Albert Bliss Based on reading the article, Homeless Man Interviews Himself by Albert Bliss, I have come to the conclusion that this is overall an example of Closed Form Writing. I firmly believe that this article conforms to the basis of the closed form writing style but it dabbles in the open formed style of writing. There are several examples in the essay that convince me of this. First of all, there is a thesis in the first paragraph of the article letting the reader know what is going to happen. The thesis was I have just finished lunch and I feel like interviewing myself. Since the interviewer and interviewee is the same person, I have split myself in half. For example when the Mister Bliss asked Al why he felt like the homeless men he had once spied on as an adolescent he considered heroes. The Infectious Diseases Society Of America The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) has recently noted several model antibiotic resistant bacteria strains with redesigned capabilities in pathogenesis, transmission and resistance. These several strains, Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterobacter species, have been given the acronym based title of the ESKAPE Pathogens. These strains of bacteria compromise one of the biggest threats faced by physicians today not because of the infectious and devastating illnesses they lead to, but because of their ability to resist antibiotics in the healthcare setting. Failure for industries, academia and government to cooperate and develop research/development operations has left healthcare providers one step behind in the fight against these new brands of infectious diseases. A lack of research/development operations has left the healthcare industry with antiquated antibiotics no longer capable of targeting and eradicating these microorganisms in human systems. Klebsiella pneumoniae (contributing the K in the ESKAPE acronym) is a strain of bacteria that has recently developed resistance against a class of ÎČ Lactam antibiotics developed from thienamycin (a naturally derived product, discovered in 1976, of Streptomyces cattleya) known as carbapenems. Many of our ideas and thoughts are either directly or indirectly based on ideas from the Bible but while the Bible s influence is prominent in society, has it always been for the best? Our views on women are one of the many things that have been affected due to the Bible, a lot of times negatively. Women throughout the Bible have been described as either being lesser than men or as the source of evil in this world. The most obvious instance of this being shown is through the figure of Eve. More times than not, Eve is blamed for the banishment of mankind from the garden of Eden as she gave a fruit from the tree of knowledge to Adam and they both consumed it. Due to this, many people see her as being the devil in disguise and often, many artists choose to depict like that. While many artists choose to depict Eve as evil, some choose to depict Eve in another way. Michelangelo and Raffaello Sanzio, known also as Raphael, were two of these types of artists who challenged the existing ideas of Eve through their art. Both artists were heavily influenced by Leonardo da Vinci, called the treatise of psychology , who may have taught them to pay close attention the effect the emotions and actions had on the people in their art, which can be seen throughout the following paintings. Suicide was defined a few times throughout the work, as the definition was changed to consider a perspective that he had not yet taken into account. A common idea of suicide was a positive and violent action such as a person shooting themselves, but suicide can also be a negative act such as a refusal to eat. Durkheim named suicide as a category that can also cover some instances not usually associated with suicide. A few examples of that are a soldier going into battle knowing he will be killed, a martyr that dies for the cause, and a businessman that kills himself after going bankrupt. Most people would not consider that soldier suicidal nor would they consider the martyrdom a suicide. However, both of those scenarios include people going into a situation despite the fact that they know they will die. According to Durkheim (1951), it did not matter if the person just accepted death as unavoidable or they actually wanted to die because the two scenarios were close enough to be broadly grouped together (Durkheim, Suicide: A Study in Sociology, 1951). Basically he was saying that if the person sacrifices their life and gives their soul, the most precious gift they have, it can be classified as suicide. • 20. Cognitive Aging Through A Variety Of Theories Research has attempted to explain cognitive aging through a variety of theories. Each of these theories believes that it can encapsulate all the changes that occur in cognition as individual s age. Some of these cognitive aging theories include executive function, speed of processing, inhibition and frontal lobe theory. This paper will examine each theory along with the supporting research. Furthermore this paper will attempt to draw a conclusion on which theory or explanation best explains cognitive aging. The first theory that aims to explain cognitive aging is executive functioning or executive control. Executive functioning tends to become entangled with speed of processing across the literature. However, it should be noted that executive function encompasses many complex tasks and cognitive facets. A study done by C.T Albinet et al. Certainly, the Chinese system possesses certain aspects similar to what already exists in other modern nation states and their governments, however, it is how these pieces coelute together into a coherent political and economic machine that makes the model unique. Virtues Of Happiness Moral Ethics Virtues of Happiness Moral Ethics An individual s virtue ethics does not depend on the society that they live in, the spirituality that they follow, or their culture/upbringing; but they depend exclusively on the individuals themselves. Aristotle introduced moral ethics theory in his Nicomachean Ethics books. The idea of ethics is questioning long term goals, what sort of person do I want to be instead of instantaneous decisions that question what should I do in this situation? Virtues are not so much to do with right or wrong but rather where that decision is coming from. What is in the heart of the person that answers/acts is what matters in the virtuous world. Instead of concentrating on what is the right thing to do, virtue ethics asks how you can be a better person. According to Aristotle this pursuit of constantly trying to improve one s self to be a better person is what true happiness is in life, as he underlines in his own definition of happiness: happiness is a certain activity of the soul in conformity with perfect virtue. (1) (Aristotle, Nicomachean Ethics Book 1). As it is with all things, the more you practice something, the better you will be at it. It s not expected of the student to comprehend what they re learning. It s expected of them to take what the teacher is saying as fact without critically thinking about the meaning behind it. Freire explains, Education thus becomes an act of depositing, in which the students are the depositories and the teacher is the depositor. Influences on Stephen Crane s The Red Badge of Courage People tend to be greatly influenced by stories, news, and other contemporary sources of knowledge, which ultimately affects the impact they have on the world. Stephen Crane was greatly impacted by the time period in which he lived. One such influence was the popular literary style of Realism. Realism is the trend in which literature is based on the true nature of everyday occurrences devoid of any fantasy or romance. It is the raw depiction of what life and society is actually like. This literary style can be found in many of Stephen Crane s novels. Religion also had a significant impact on the way Stephen Crane wrote his novels. He was an atheist which brought about the idea that humans are just part of nature and must solve their own problems without the intervention of a higher being. This notion is evident with the protagonist of The Red Badge of Courage. Henry Fleming, a young union soldier in the Civil War, must overcome the fear of putting his life at risk to achieve what he wants most which is honor. It is important to note that symptoms of GAD can be misunderstood for different reasons. • 29. The Motivation For Jerry And Christopher At A Ice Cream... During my screenplay workshop, I received a lot of helpful suggestions on my overall motivation of my characters. In my revision process, I tried to focus more on the overall motive for my two main characters. For example, I added the motivation for Jerry and Christopher to open an ice cream parlor. This helped with my revision of plot and main conflict because the two characters did not have enough money for the down payment on the open space. As a result, they decide to rob a bank in order to get the money for the payment. Another thing I tried to work on during my revision was the characterization of my two main characters. The two characters are, indeed, stupid. However, my goal was to make their appearance a little different and they way they spoke different. An example of my use of characterization is when Christopher speaks. For example, Christopher is very goofy like Jerry. However, he has a small sense of responsibility/wisdom. In the car, he is the one to have a notebook with all the information on the vacant space and bank. Moreover, he is the one that starts to become serious when he fights the hostage in the bank. Although both of the characters are stupid, Christopher s character is what keeps the guys going. Without Chris, Jerry would be clueless. We can see Jerry s characterization through his actions. Jerry does not think anything through. For instance, in the bank, he brings in business cards with both their names on them. This is something stupid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Analysis Of The Starry Night Art Cultural Artifacts The first work that I am evaluating is The Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh which was created in June 1889 and is currently located at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The Starry Night was painted during the post impressionist period, and is one of several that Van Gogh produced while staying at the asylum in Saint Remy in southern France. According to Soomo Learning (2017) the piece is a vision of dynamic spiritual movement from temporality to eternity (Section 2.4.2 Art Gallery). The painting depicts an imagined view of the town of Saint Remy, with a Dutch style church at the center and rolling hills in the background. It appears to be just before dawn with bright stars, Venus, and the moon set in a vivid blue swirling sky. Contrasting the bright stars and brilliant blue sky is a dark looming cypress tree that occupies the left side of the image and contains a flamelike appearance. The second cultural artifact is the poem Stars Over Dordogne by Sylvia Plath that was written while she was visiting France in 1960 and was published in 1962. The version of this poem that I am using comes from the Soomo learning resource (Section 2.4.4 Literature Gallery). In this poem Plath compares the dark sky and lonesome stars of her home to the showy and bright sky and stars of Dordogne. The contrasting imagery of the two locations is coupled with the feeling that the artist is using the stars and sky of home to symbolize herself. Common Theme The common ... Describing their job satisfactions, dislikes, and how all this relates to their performances on the job. The three different jobs that are presented for consideration of job satisfaction are an accountant position where Maria works, a Quality Control Manager for an insurance company, and this is where Darell works, and finally we have a Retail Store Manager for an outdoor company where Mike works. All three of these jobs have characteristics that can contribute to increased levels of job satisfaction. All three of these jobs offer plenty of hours of work. This can lead to job stability and increase the affective commitment that a person might have toward a job (Milligan, 2014). Maria s job as an accountant gives her job satisfaction because she has intellectual abilities that allow her to do mental thinking and reasoning. The film features two main techniques throughout the film that I immediately thought about adding to my own film, those being the use of lighting and sound. The film moves from very bright light scenes, such as the films opening in the Middle East, to the darkness of Georgetown (the films setting), or from the clean and well lit living room of the house, to the black and gloomy mist of the girl s bedroom. Why? The sound was used similarly, from eerily quiet to sudden loudness, one scene that uses this is the sharp cut from the Priest s gentle dream of his mother, to the piercing scream of the little girl. Why The use of restful music as the main soundtrack in The Exorcist added to the loud and quiet technique Friedkin used, to create the sense that everything is calm.
