The, A Fusion Of Animal And Machine
In You Are a Cyborg (Harl, Kunzru, 2013), Donna Haraway claims that humans are cyborgs; a
fusion of animal and machine . Not robots like artificial intelligence Ava in Ex Machina (Garland,
2015), but cybernetic organisms or information machines. Haraway s cyborg claim rests on a
complex interaction between humans and technology and how this interaction is not co existing
with one another, but as humans and technology incorporating one another. The Dictionary of
Sociology defines cyborgas a, growing integration of human beings into mechanical systems
(2012). Following Haraway s claim, I am a cyborg when I use technology, and more specifically
when I use the social media application Instagram. Instagram is a social networking application...

communication because Instagram tracks when the interaction took place, what happened in the
interaction, the time, the place, and so on and so forth. In this form of communication, it is not
only the direct parties involved who experience the interaction, but a third party is gathering
information based on the details of the interaction. As an Instagram user, I am a cybernetic
organism, because I am associated with the vast network of profiles, companies, and advertising
on Instagram and therefore subject to the gathering of information. Next, Instagram uses the
detailed information on its users to create an updated model of a changing situation a synthesis
of information collected, analyzed, evaluated and assembled (Licklider Taylor, 1968). Instagram
takes in the information from its users, analyzes it, and redistributes it back through the form of,
for example, an explore page . This means Instagram has created a feedback system based on
what users like, comment or share with our friends. When I go on the explore page on Instagram
it is not just random profiles, but a precise scientific algorithm based on the people I follow, posts I
like, my geographical location, and more. As I change my interests or habits, Instagram has the

The Center And Yorkdale Mall
The socioeconomic significance of malls is seen through visual culture, where the mall has
become a place to meet up with friends and family, on any day of the week weekends being the
busiest. Hence the mall has become a centre of life, where the most memorable moments,
holidays and birthdays are spent, dinners are held all under one roof (Stokrocki 80). In Toronto
the two largest malls I explored were the Toronto Eaton s Centre and Yorkdale Mall both of which
included over 200 stores, eateries, rainforest cafГ©s, and a movie theatre. However what was
evident about these two malls apart from the rest included anti social behaviours despite families
being grouped together. Although people were together, the sense of togetherness was plastic just
like the manikins of store displays. It appeared as though families were shoppingjust as an excuse to
go out as a family even though children, teens and adults would disperse into the stores of their
choice and meet up at the end for a takeout meal, contacting each other through their phones. In
addition to this observation included the fact that families shopping with other families or family
friends were more of an exploitation of social and economic class. People being able to spend at
stores like Michael Kors, Coach, Tory Burch, Abercrombie Fitch, Lululemon, Kate Spade and many
more, without worrying about going over budget meant being affluent. What really needs to be
questioned is the idea that if these people spend at

Technology s Impact On Transportation Essay
Technology have greatly impacted the transportation field and in effect have completely changed
the way the human race travel, the way goods are shipped and the economy of every developed
nation. Technology in transportation is not something new, technology have continually had in
impact on travel and transportation. This impact can be see ranging from the Viking Longships ,
which were very fast for their times. These Longships facilitated the Vikings expansion and
helped them conquer new lands that were hundreds of miles away from their homes (Vikings:
Vikings at sea). The railroads in the 1800 s also were a new form of technology, and this
technology provided an opportunity for individuals to move farther west to new lands and new
opportunities that they never thought would have existed. In our day and age, technology will
continue to have a massive impact on transportation. Knowing that technology will continue to
have an impact on transportation, this paper will analyze the technological opportunities in the
transportation field and the new opportunities that they will provide in the near future. First, this
paper will examine a new form of rail transportation called Hyperloop. This paper will discuss
how Hyperloop affects product manufacturers and everyday individuals in their daily lives.
Second, this paper will look at a new phase that the Tesla Company is implementing, a phase they
title Master Plan, Part Deux , we will discuss how this new phase might affect the

Psychodynamic Approach
The psychodynamic approach on the study of human behaviour is based around the work of
Sigmund Freud.
Freud believed that when people explainied their own behaviour to themselves or to someone
else, we rarely gave a true account of our motivation. However, this wasn t because people are
trying to lie on purpose. Freud suggested that the majority of human behaviour is influenced by
things we are not consciously aware of and that our deeper motivations are not seen but hidden
away. Freud called the part of the mind that we do know about and are aware of, the conscious and
the part we don t know about and are unaware of, the unconscious . Freud also said that between our
conscious and unconscious state, we have our middle, the preconscious. ... Show more content on

Division One Football Essay
Every year it seems like the world is getting smaller and smaller. Before the internet became the
internet things were much different. Arguably the biggest benefactor is high school athletes. They
no longer have to worry about being noticed. All they have to do is upload highlight reels online.
This technological advancement is extremely valuable for small town athletes. But will it have a
major effect on Division One Football?
Student athletes have participated in Division One Football since the early 70s. Since it s
reclassification the sport has experienced numerous changes. Technology innovations could effect
the sport dramatically. An introduction of a different player demographic could be influential.

none major cities can be a disadvantage. Thanks to modern technology the gap has been
dramatically decreased. Coaching staff s no longer have to roam the country as much. Thanks to
YouTube and other social media sites they can quickly discover athletes. When Division One
programs discover someone they like; they tend to go after them.
Top programs participate in recruiting wars. Some athletes are forced to choose between three or
four different schools. The intensity increases when a hidden gem is involved. Programs dream of
finding the no name capable of leading them to glory. It doesn t much more potentially unknown
than a small town recruit. Making them the perfect player for any program.
Numerous small town athletes have gone on to play Division One sports. Some of them have had a
bigger impact than others. They re participation is extremely important. It benefits local

Seizure Disorders Paper
Seizure disorders, according to the Mayo Clinic (2015), affect approximately 1 in 26 people in the
United States. Persistent, or chronic, seizures result from a condition called epilepsy, a
neurological disorder of the central nervous system. It can affect anyone regardless of age, but is
more common during early childhood and after age 60. Given the number of people that seizure
disorders, such as epilepsy, affect, it becomes helpful to gain a foundational understanding of the
disease, including some of the causes, symptoms, and treatments available.
A seizure is a disruption of the electrical activity between neurons in the brain. The resulting
chemical changes can lead to a surge of electrical activity causing a seizure. Aside from trauma to
the brain due to injury, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Types of seizures vary in intensity and effect. Some seizures are hardly noticeable, while others
incapacitate the patient. Mild seizures, which can last for a few seconds, do not involve a loss of
consciousness, but may change emotions or the way things look, feel, smell, taste, or sound. They
may also involve involuntary twitching of an extremity, a leg or arm, and dizziness, a tingling
sensation, or flashing lights. More severe seizures can last for a few minutes and involve a loss of
awareness or consciousness. Other symptoms include repetitive movement, such as hand rubbing,
chewing, blinking, staring, or walking in circles. With tonic clonic seizures, also known as grand
mal seizures, the body initially stiffens briefly, then begins to convulse. The teeth will clench
sometimes biting the tongue, causing bleeding from the mouth. There may also be increased
salivation causing foaming at the mouth. Additionally, a loss of control of bladder or bowel
functions may occur. An epilepsy patient will typically have the same type of seizure, whether
mild or severe, so symptoms will be similar from episode to

Art Spiegelman s Maus
Art Spiegleman s comic book within the comic book Maus is titled Prisoner on the Hell Planet:
A Case History. This text within a text describes, in horrific detail through pictures, Artie s failed
effort to get through the painful loss of his mother due to suicide. This text also in a way,
represents a part of Artie s mind where he expresses his feelings of loneliness, doubt, fear, anger,
and blame through the form of a dark, gloomy, depressing cartoon.

In the past Artie may have felt that his mother was always trying to compare him to her first son
Richieu, which may be the reason for Artie having to stay in a mental hospital for three months. In
the present time, in spite of his mother s actions towards him, Artie tries to be away from home as
often as possible. So, he stays over at his girlfriend s place a few days at a time.
The fourth frame of this short story depicts Artie running down the sidewalk, and his narration
above reading: I d just spent the weekend with my girlfriend, Isabella. (My parents didn t like
her.) I was late getting home. As I mentioned before, Artie probably stays at his girlfriend s house
often because he does not want to be near his parents which explains why he was late. There is
little if any connection between Artie and his parents, especially with his mother. He knows that he
will never be his older brother Richieu and this disappoints his parents.
The fifth frame of this strip is one of the most important frames. In this frame, Artie expresses to the
reader for the first time the guilt he has developed resulting from his mother s suicide. He states I
suppose that if I d gotten home when expected, I would have found her body. Accentuating I by
bolding it and making it stand out, demonstrates to the reader that he puts the blame on himself for
his mother s suicide and feels guilty. The subsequent two frames reveal that

continues to be dominated by supermarkets such as Woolworths and Coles, in the year 2016

The Responsibility Of Being A Project Manager
Taking on the responsibility of being a project manager can be multidimensional and very
demanding but rewarding at the end. The roles of a project manager has the total responsibility for
the successful planning, execution, monitoring, control and closure of a project. After a project
manager take on a tasks that s has been assigned to him/her from a client, the job is just beginning.
They must first understand and have general knowledge about the task that has been put in their
hand. The mission starts with assembling an all star team that will be able to assist you in every
aspect as the project go along, next, the project managerand selected team should start piecing
together a strategy that correlates with the project schedule to ensure every deadline will be
made on or before time, also enforce strong communication throughout the project, and set
milestones and follow up at each interval to assess the progress at every phase until the project is
complete. A project manager must be dedicated to the project assigned from beginning to end. It
will consume a lot of your time, but you will be overjoyed with a successful project at the end and
say it was all well worth the stress, long days and sleepless nights.
Being a project manager means you have to be able to keep up in a fast pace environment often
filled with conflicting deadlines that takes precedence over your personal endeavors. There will be
times when you think you have everything under control, but

Synopsis Of The Movie The Greatest Show Man
The new movie The Greatest showman centers around Phineas Taylor (P.T.) Barnum and his circus.
It features many critically acclaimed actors, Zendaya Coleman as Anne Wheeler, Michelle Williams
as Charity Barnum, Zac Efron as Phillip Carlyle, Hugh Jackman as P.T. Barnum, and Rebecca
Ferguson as Jenny Lind. Their characters go through several trials throughout the filmincluding (but
not limited to) interracial relationships, monetary issues, hate crimes, as well as racial and oddity
discrimination.
I did a short Google search when I saw it the first time, as well as simply looking through my
newsfeed on Facebook; many people aren t too happy with the portrayal of Barnum, as he was
not the man Jackman portrayed him to be in the film. He put the misfits on display as freaks and
oddities, drawing on the crowds racial discriminations and hatred to make a profit. The movie
didn t even mention Joice Heth, an elderly, blind, and severely paralyzed slave. Portrayed by
Barnum as a 161 year old nurse who raised and took care of George Washington, he even went so
far as to perform a live autopsy after her death to prove her old age. She is only one of many real,
unspoken people of Barnum Bailey Circus. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Fannie Mae And Freddie Mac
1.During the great depression in 1934 many people didn t have jobs. Not having jobs meant that it
would be awfully hard for them to obtain a loan from banks in order to purchase homes. The
government decided to help the American people by creating the Federal Housing Administration
(FHA) which basically stepped in and allowed banks to offer mortgages to more people with the
promise that the banks would get their money back. The FHA finances itself with insurance
premiums that they charge borrowers as well as interest that they receive on reserves. They use
these funds to underwrite more loans which helps out people with their mortgages.
Two other government sponsored enterprises are Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. They were built by
congress to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, the government should take a step back and not be involved in the USA housing
market any longer. The reason behind my thinking has to do with the new president we have in
the White House. President has come out and said that he has a new tax reform plan that s
supposed to have significant changes not only to personal taxes but corporate taxes as well.
Trump has said that he wants to lower the corporate tax rate from the current 35% to 20, maybe
even 15% which is great news for corporations but not so great when it comes to Fannie Mae and
Freddie Mac. The reason that this would be bad for these enterprises is because they are under
conservatorship and cutting the corporate tax rate would force these enterprises to once again
need a bailout. Being under conservatorship means that for every quarter Fannie Mae and Freddie
Mac make a profit, they have to pay dividends to the department of treasury and at the same time
they aren t allowed to rebuild capital but instead their capital base is diminished as time passes
which means that in 2018 they will have not one penny remaining in their capital reserves.
Furthermore, lower corporate tax rates mean that Fannie Mac and Freddie Mac will have
significant deferred tax asset write downs...which, in turn, could lead to the GSE s need an
additional draw from the Treasury to cover tax related losses (Housingwire). To reiterate my point
once again, I believe that the government shouldn t continue its involvement in the

progressing market.
The chart below proves that the demographics of passengers that bored a cruise ship are the most
susceptible to the implementation of smart technology thus helping to alleviate the problems
encountered while aboard. (Fig. 2)

The Importance Of Stereotyping In Society
A stereotype is a way to determine where a person or thing falls in the realm of life. Stereotyping
is a natural part of life and it actually does have a meaning in reality. It allows a person s mind to
work properly and for the human brain to be able to recognize, process, store and then recall the
information when needed. Stereotyping is a big problem in society. It labels a person about
how they should live or act according to their sex, race, and personality. In all work forces it is a
law to not discriminate against employees or other people in the facility. It can also be used in
racial, political, religious, and many more ways. Stereotyping in a racial way is judging people
by the color of their skin, where they come from, or the language they speak. Stereotyping can be
a big issue in many professional businesses and environments. It can affect people s lives and the
way of doing things. Stereotypes also are creating a false idea of how people interact with other
individuals. Many of the stereotypes children receive are through media. People should be careful
when stereotyping or just keep their thoughts to themselves. Stereotyping will never go away
because it helps humansto process information about things and people.

Temperance Reform Movement
Temperance and Abolitionism The Age of Reform was a time period in the mid 1800 s where
ideals of equality, liberty and the pursuit of happiness defined democracy and spread across
America through a series of reform movements. These reform movements were based on the want
to make America a civilized utopian society. Temperance and Abolitionism were two major reform
movements that happened in this time period, I will be describing and comparing these two reform
movements. The Temperance reform movement was used to end alcohol abuseand the problems
created by it. Fathers would go home drunk and use up the money they earned for his family. It
encouraged people to abstain from consuming alcoholin order to preserve family order. Even though

This reform movement s purpose was to end racial stereotypes segregation, discrimination, and
to abolish slavery. Furthermore, many believed that slavery or owning another person, went
against one of the basic fundamentals that our country was founded on, that all men are created
equal. There was a great divide that eventually led to the civil war that changed our nation. It
divided families, politicians, and our nation. In the result of this divide some wrote newspapers,
for example, one of the most famous was the Liberator written by William Lloyd Garrison.
Delegates from both races and genders met in Philadelphia to found the American Anti Slavery
society, they believed slavery was a sin. There were many displays of hostility from the North
and South. There were violent mobs, burning of mailbags containing abolitionist literature, and
the gag rule itself. The gag rule was the blocked discussion of antislavery petitions. In conclusion,
all of these things later lead to the great civil war. These two movements were both created to
make America a more civilized and a free place to live. Where all men are created equal. But,
one dealing with a commodity, or a product, and people making their own choices. While the
other dealt with people who didn t have a choice, they didn t choose to be slaves. All in all, each
movement was significant in its own way to make America a more civilized society. But the one I
believe improved, changed, and affected the lives of Americans most was the Abolitionist reform
movement because it freed a whole race of people, no one should be able to own

What Is The Allegory In Lord Of The Flies
Author William Golding s use of symbolism and deep meaning in objects, location and
characters are examples of allegory. Allegory is a story were objects and characters symbolize
more than their literal meaning. William Golding s Lord of the Flies is about a group of British
schoolboys who survive a plane crash and find themselves on a deserted island. Without any adult
guidance the boys have to learn to adapt and have control over themselves. The novels protagonists,
Ralph and Jack, have problems and create conflict and tension throughout the story. Lord of the
flies is an allegorical novel because it connects to the novel s main ideas and theme. The whole
allegorical meaning behind Lord of the Flies revolves around the time the book was written. The
novel was written during the 1950s. The 1950s was known as the post war era. In the novel Jack
struggled to obey Ralphs rules and they never got along. At one point jack left and created his own

Attila The Hun Essay example
Attila the Hun is known as one of the most ferocious leaders of ancient times. He was given the
nickname Scourge God because of his ferocity. During the twentieth century, Hun was one of the
worst name you could call a person, due to Attila. The Huns were a barbaric and savage group of
people, and Attila, their leader, was no exception. He was the stereotypical sacker of cities and
killer of babies.
The Huns lasted long after their disappearance in mythology and folklore, as the bad guy.
Generally, they were not fun people to be around. Priscus saw Attila the Hunat a banquet in 448.
Priscus described him as being a short, squat man with a large head and deep set eyes. He also had

Barbarians. The Romans initial impression of the Huns was fear. But after awhile, the Huns settled
on the coast of Danube, the great Hungarian Plain, and became allies of the Romans, instead of
attacking them as enemies. In return, the Roman Empire paid them a sum of money to not attack

The Huns agreed with this, and remained mostly neutral toward the Romans for about fifty years.
Things between the Romans and the Huns began to fall apart when Attila was named King of the
Huns in 434. Attila and his brother, Bleda, inherited a large empire. They had been made joint
kings of a vast area from the Alps to the Caspian seas, in the east, to the Baltic Sea in the West.
Because of the Roman treaty with the Huns at Margus, The Romans had to pay the Huns seven
hundred pounds of gold annually to leave them alone. Attila s actions between 435 and 439 are
basically unknown, and were not major or overly important. It is said that he may have subdued
barbarians to the north of east of his dominions, but no one can be sure. In 441, Rome had become
delinquent on their payments to the Huns, so Attila and Bleda decided to attack the Roman Empire.

This can be useful for categorization of the objects which move on a conveyer belt. The proposed

In this project we will be using combination of microcontroller, Sensors and mat lab for some

provides value added service in picking up the objects based on their color for packing or

Franklin Delano Roosevelt s Four Freedoms
Franklin Delano Roosevelt s Four Freedoms speech, given on January 6, 1941, provided
rationale behind his idea that the United States needed to abandon isolationist policies. This
speech provided the basis for the civil liberties that different groups of people would fight for
during the next seventy years as well as context for America s involvement in foreign affairs
regarding democracy. The Four Freedoms FDR listed were as follows: freedom of speech,
freedom of religion, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. In Alan Brinkley s biography of
FDR, he discussed how FDR expanded the role of the government and became a strong leader and
protector of the welfare of American People, creating programs to expand and stimulate the

Due to these threats, the United States took severe measures to spread democratic ideals to other
countries, however in the attempt to prevent a WWIII, democratic practices often produced
antidemocratic outcomes according to Suri. Some of these antidemocratic strategies included
containment and the Truman Doctrine, which aimed to prevent the spread of communism to
Eastern Europe and Asia. As president, Ronald Reagan promised to cut the budget, reduce taxes,
trim the bureaucracy, revive America, and subdue the Soviets, ultimately leading to the collapse of
the Soviet Union. Although the Civil Rights Movement arose in the sixties, nuclear development
continued and by 1970 there were more than 25,000 nuclear weapons in the world (Borstelmann

of being American. Whether it the fear is domestic or internationally related, American s face fears
ranging from not obtaining their basic civil rights to what seems to be the constant threat of
terrorist attacks. The United States interest in spreading democracy to other nations and aiding in
foreign affairs is ultimately for the protection of the freedoms of the countries

The Motif Of Water In The Assault By Harry Mulisch
In Harry Mulisch s novel The Assault, Mulisch expands on the historical event of the murder of
Fake Kirst who was assassinated on the streets of Amsterdam by Grommet Krijger through the life
of Anton Steenwijk following World War Two. Throughout the novel Mulisch takes advantage of
numerous motifs and expands their ability through a longstanding motif of water. He uses these
themes to develop the central characterAnton who works to conquer history and his own past. The
motif of water is a strong decision by Mulisch that broadens the novel s overall depth and meaning .
Within the first episode Mulisch introduces the concept of water as Anton is trapped in a prison

Contrasting to other uses of the motif of water, the quote is not a direct action or movement that
Anton does, instead it is a short passage from a monologue that Mulisch has inserted on the
perception of the past and the future. As later in the quote Mulisch presents that one faces the void
and the past is only visible in memory (151). Subsequently Mulisch has tardily ended the ongoing
question of viewing and facing both the past and the present and the importance of understanding
that it is impossible to steer one s own ship into the waves of the future simply due to the waves do

A Closer Look At The Fourteenth Amendment s Equal...
Markus Allard Professor Anne Redding Administrative Justice 245 20 November 2016 A Closer
Look At The Fourteenth Amendment s Equal Protection Clause Our 14th amendment is perhaps
the most important amendment because it helps defend some of our fundamental rights. This
amendment extends the due process procedure to all citizens when trying to deprive them of life,
liberty, or property. The amendment also ensures that everyone born in the United States or
naturalized is guaranteed citizenship. This helped grant the right to vote for many americans who
before were excluded from this right. It was ratified on july 9th in 1868 following the civil war
along with 13th and 15th amendment. These are known as the civil war amendments and had to be
accepted by the southern states in order for them to be brought back into the union. The 14th
amendment in particular was designed to protect the basic civil rights granted in the constitution to
all americans. However a lot of issues have arose over time in regarding the 14th amendment equal
protection clause. Movements like Black Lives Matter have brought forth some of these issues
happening today. The supreme court has made interpretations of the 14th amendment in cases like
Plessy vs Ferguson, Brown vs the Board of Education, and even in when overturning the case Dred
Scott vs Sanford. To better understand the 14th amendment s equal protection clause we have to

Difference Between Group Work And Group Work
пЃ¶Introduction
In today s modern era of this world work is very important for everyone. No one can survive in this
world without any work. Work is a activity where we can apply our ideas in an particular
situation. We can t define work as a single type or term because work is comes with its number
of parts and types like SOCIAL, PROJECT WORK and much more types. In this paper I am
going to flash a light on Group work and Individual work and which is better from both of them.
1.Group Work
Group work is also known as team work when two or more than two persons are working on a same
project is known as group work. In group work we can share our ideas with our co partners and
give that idea a new shape. Group work is a type of voluntary association that increases the total
output of the activity rather than it is done by individually.
More ideas
In a group every person had its own ideas, prospects and experiences. In a group every person is
belong from an different backgrounds and have a different experiences so that s why every
person have an different ideas on his basis that s why we can get lot ideas in our group work.
Increase Productivity
By making actions and decisions together (regardless of their position). By working in a group
chances of mistake is very less. By spending too much hours with each group member on the
discussion about an work than we get very effective results which increase the productivity of our
work.
Better problem solving

Farm suicides took place in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab and Madhya

the deceased families failed to receive support from government.
Emile Durkheim identifies four broad types of suicide viz, egoistic, altruistic, anomic and
fatalistic. Fatalistic is caused by excessive social regulation (blocked by passion), altruistic is not
legitimately studied by Durkheim. Anomic type is caused when an individual is provided with ill
defined objectives/ goals that make the possibility of failure high. And egoistic occurs when the
ties binding the individual to others are slackened and there is absence of adequate social
integration. Farmer suicide in India

The Bitter Conflict in Northern Ireland Essay examples
The Bitter Conflict in Northern Ireland
Out of all the conflicts that have occurred in Western Europe since the Second World War, Northern
Ireland has been one of the most bitter, long lasting and intractable. This conflict is based in the
struggle of one side of the community for a unified independent Ireland and the opposition of the
other part of the community to this aim and their desire for Northern Ireland to remain a part of the
United Kingdom. Due to the hostility between these two sides issues of discrimination in areas
such as housing, employment, electoral manipulations and religious histories have been rife.
Northern Ireland is torn over the balance of power relations between communities and questions of
governance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this is good news there are many areas of employment which are still inadequate and
unmonitored. The Policy of Appraisal and Fair Treatment and Targeting Social Need initiatives
were intended to be set up in the 90 s to act as monitoring and job creation schemes. Neither of
these reached the goals they were hoped to achieve. PAFT received no consideration and hopes for
reparation for past discriminations came to nothing when its function became reduced to equality
and TSN was sidelined with no real aims. Neither monitor the religion or gender of staff.
The allocation of public housing has also been an area subject to accusations of discrimination. In
the 1960 s civil rights movements began in protest against the lack of civil and housing rights of
the Catholics of Northern Ireland. In June 1966, a nationalist councillor Austin Currie squatted in a
house in the Tyrone village of Caledon to oppose the treatment the Irish people were receiving.
Though it was meant to be a peaceful protest there was a violent reaction. In 1969 The Cameron
Report examined the causes of the civil disorders which started on 5 October 1968 in Londonderry.
They found that the discrimination in the allocation of housing, together with lack of housing
provision was among the main grievances of the Catholic population. At the time, housing was an
important political issue, in addition to being of great socio economic importance sub tenants were

Grendel Analysis
The ability to live alone is a power very few people possess. Grendel, by John Gardner, is a novel
based on the epic poem, Beowulf and narrated by Grendel, a grotesque monster who lives with
his mute mother in a desolate cave. He is in a 12 year war King Hrothgar and his people.
Constantly seeking and yet avoiding the human population, Grendel observes the Scyldings as their
civilization progresses with increasing curiosity. Grendel spends his days isolated from society,
searching for a purpose to his life in what to him seems like a meaningless universe. On his journey
he encounters a clairvoyant dragon who mentors him on the nature of the universe, and sees the rise
and fall of different empires. Seeing humanities cruelty and senseless violence frustrates him. His
hatred ultimately leads to his downfall as he meets Beowulfand is killed. In the novel Grendel, by
John Gardner, Grendel is portrayed as a lonely and miserable creature who craves companionship
and ponders deep questions about the universe. This is observed by Grendel s conversation with the
dragon and his inner thoughts about the living worldaround him. The Danes paranoia of Grendel
isolates him from society. He lives in solitude with his mother who he cannot connect with on
anymore than a physical level. As the novel progresses, Grendel becomes attached to humanity and
the Shaper in particular. The Shaper is an inspiring musician who sings imaginatively of a perfect
world. Grendel realizes that what the

The Legality Of Conversion Therapy
The Legality of Conversion Therapy
The issues surrounding sexuality and gender nonconforming individuals in the United States have
played an increasingly large role in modern politics since the mid 20th century. These issues,
commonly referred to LGBT rights, directly affect the lives of a vast number of American citizens
and, as such, any legislation addressing these issues is public policy. The growing demand for
equality among the LGBT community has resulted in a number of Supreme Court cases and
legislation addressing commonly debated issues such as marriage and employment discrimination.
Though these particular issues have received attention from Congress, there are still other problems
within the LGBT communities that must be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conversion therapy was deemed unethical by both the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and
the American Psychological Association. The APA, world s largest professional psychiatric
organization and publisher of the DSM, confirmed that the potential risks of conversion therapy are
great, including depression, anxiety and self destructive behavior, since therapist alignment with
societal prejudices against homosexuality may reinforce self hatred already experienced by the
patient. (Psychiatry.org) These claims were made evident to the public in the recent suicide of a
transgender girl named Leelah Alcorn. Leelah, whose gender identity was rejected by her heavily
religious parents, noted conversion therapy sessions as a catalyst in her mental decline, which
ultimately lead to her untimely death (Fox).
Supporters of conversion therapy argue that, like all other therapies, participation is voluntary and
an individual should not be restricted from seeking it. This argument ignores the fact that many
minors are sent conversion therapy against their will. This was the basis for the 2012 lawsuit
Pickup v. Brown, in which the plaintiff, a conversion therapist, argued that the California ban on
conversion therapy for minors violated an individual s First Amendment right, among others
(Pickup). A unanimous decision upheld the ban, citing the 1979

Analysis Of Hiroshima Exit By Joy Kogawa
Born in Vancouver, Canada, in 1935, Joy Kogawa is a Nisei second generation Japanese Canadian
and a celebrated poet. During World War 2, many Japanese Canadians, including Kogawa, were
evacuated and forced into the internment camps. Hiroshima Exit , one of Kogawa s poem ,
accentuates the devastation of the atomic bombing during the war. A Japanese Descendent visits
the Atomic Bomb Memorial Building where she witnesses the horror and destruction from the
Hiroshima bombing. It is clear that the war inflicted great destruction, and much damage was
attributed to past actions. Kogawa uses personification, conflicts, and symbolism to show that
instead of clinging onto the harsh past, one needs to have hope in order to create better prospect in
the future. Firstly, Kogawa uses personification to show the dreadful mood that takes place. When
the American tourists are blaming the Japanese, the words jingle down (Kogawa1). The meaning of
this personification is to examine the confusion of what is happening, which means that the
innocent civilians do not know what is happening or what they have done wrong. Also, when the

Kogawa s use of repetition emphasizes the important concept of ending a conflict before it
further escalates. In the first stanza, the speaker says: In round round rooms of our wanderings

endlessness. This is similar to the feeling of those in conflict, who feel like they fight a war with
no end; only constant retaliation. However, once leaving the building, the speaker reiterates
Believing, believing (27) which changes these feelings to hope. This implies the speaker s
realization of the possibility of a future unlike the past filled with peace. The only escape from this

Lenders would compete for borrowers, driving the interest rate down. Similarly, if the interest rate
in the market is less than the equilibrium rate, the quantity of funds demanded would be greater
than the quantity of funds supplied. The shortage of loanable funds would result in upward pressure
on the interest rate (Mankiw, 2001). 4. Effect of demand on Interest rates for Loanable Funds: The
demand on interest rates for loanable funds affects the Household sectors, Business sectors and
Government sectors.
4.1 Household Sectors: The impact of a rate rise decreases the demand for the loanable funds
from the household sector. As this foreseeable increase interest rate could add $50 to the monthly
repayments on a $300,000 mortgage. This may discourage many new home buyers to differ from
buying a house for now, due to the added costs of taking out a mortgage during a period in which
interest rates are expected to be high.
However, at present in Australia the demand for housing is positive and high. The household
sector is doing very well, despite the Reserve Bank raising interest rates, said Westpac senior
economist Andrew Hanlan (Bourlioufas Wires, 2007). This is so because the low petrol prices
helped the household sector in doing well (Bourlioufas Wires,

alligators have temperature dependent sex determination, which is a non genetic way of

Some female reptiles will guard the eggs they lay, and others will not, but egg guarding is about
as far as parental care typically goes. Alligator mississippiensis is one of the rare exceptions to
this common reptilian trend. Gravid female alligators will build nests, lay the eggs, and protect
them from possible predators. When presented with a possible threat to her clutch, the female will
hiss, or lunge at the perceived predator (Kushlan, 1973). Come hatching time, she may open the
nest or help the juveniles out of their eggs, and carry them in her mouth to the water (Passek,
1999). In some cases, males have assisted the hatching of the offspring by breaking open the eggs,
similar to the female. According to Passek, hatchlings communicate with each other while still in
the eggs by using vocalizations. When hatched, these vocalizations are calls that alert the mother to
possible distress. In an attempt to test the idea of maternal care in the American alligator, Kushlan
observed mothers and their offspring. Juveniles at the nest were captured and then lightly squeezed
to elicit a call of distress, and the mother s reactions were observed. In each of the three trials, the
mother came to the juveniles rescue with a threatening ferocity. Kushlan s study on maternal care
provided solid evidence of post hatchling parental care in Alligator

Symbolism In The Swimmer By John Cheever
By the time the alcohol touches the tongue, the storm has already begun. John Cheever s
relationship with alcohol presents itself throughout the short story The Swimmer , and uses the
character, Ned Merrill, to represent the struggles he was experiencing. Addiction and the need for
alcohol drove this character into a storm he couldn t retreat from. In The Swimmer Cheever uses a
physical storm and the changes in the weather to show the path of drinking and becoming an
alcoholic. The short storybegins with joy and excitement, then turns into something casual and
frequent, but eventually leads to misfortune and a misery. Nobody desires to be led to an
unpleasant storm, that comes with drinking alcohol. Cheever uses nature and the storms to
represent the life of an alcoholic.
Drinking may not seem to be so bad at first, but the consequences come later in the journey. John
Cheever begins this short story with an initial sign of casual drinking. Ned Merrill and his wife
are accompanied by friends who all say they drank too much last night as if they were all
drinking together (Cheever 726). Right from the beginning, Cheever gives readers the hint that
characters from this story drink a lot. He makes it a part of the social norm, so it seems to be
something done on the regular. Before Ned decides to begin a journey to swim the Lucinda River,
he notices the weather. Cheever directs the focus to the fact that it was a fine day. In the west there
was a massive stand of cumulus cloud so like a city seen from a distance , marking the beginning
of the storm (726). Looking into the West, a place of death and misfortune, are where fluffy and
cotton like clouds are on display. In literature, the West is often symbolic of death and dying since
the sun sets over that horizon. A time where leaves and plants die, and the start of darkness. Those
clouds may look peaceful, but they represent the beginning of a storm coming from the disastrous
West.
Eventually, the fun and laughter turn into something normal and boring, and drinking more serves
to reanimate his social interactions. Unfortunately, those problems are only gone for a little while,
and Ned Merrill finds this out the hard way by continuing his journey. Each house

Unfortunately, collisions involving large trucks and passenger vehicles are all too common on the
roads throughout North Carolina. In fact, the state s Department of Transportation reported that
there were more than 3,400 accidents involving semitrailers in 2013 alone. Due to the size
differences between the vehicles, such collisions often result in serious injuries, or death, for the
occupants of passenger vehicles. While not all trucking crashes can be avoided, there are steps
that drivers can take to reduce their odds of being involved in these types of accidents. Use

As a result, truckers may have to merge into the lanes to their left in order to make some right

Avoid suddenly slowing or stopping According to the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, fully
loaded tractor trailers can weigh as much as 80,000 pounds. Due to their size and weight, these
vehicles require significantly more stopping distance than passenger cars, trucks and SUVs. In
ideal conditions, large trucks traveling at 55 mph need about 430 feet to stop. Consequently,
truckers may not be able to adjust and stop in time to avoid a collision if drivers suddenly slow or
stop in front of them. Thus, it is recommended that people be attentive to the road conditions and
take precautions to avoid unexpectedly stopping when driving in front of a semitrailer. Stay out of

Benefits Of Mobile Edge Computing In Mobile Edge Computing
Introduction:
This report will talk about Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) within the Radio Access Network
(RAN). Although not a new concept, this report will explore why MEC is relevant for network
applications and how it can be used to cope with the increasing demand of computing power from
the cloud. It will also explore the potential application scenarios and the benefits it can bring in our
everyday life.
Mobile Edge Computing Background Information:
The number of smart devices connected to the internet is expected to increase significantly over the
next decade. Thus, data generated by these smart devices sent to the remote cloud will also increase
significantly. The European Commission predicts that there will be 50 to 100 billion smart... Show

MEC is also relevant in the implementation of 5G networks. The benefits that MEC will bring into
the evolution of 5G networks are listed below:
Compute intensive applications executed at the network edge will help optimize mobile
resources [3]
Large data can be processed at the edge before being sent to the clouds [3]
Context aware services, such as real time traffic updates, become available with the help of
RAN information [3]
Networks operators are motivated to maintain quality of experience and generate revenue and
therefore need to efficiently cope with the increasing mobile traffic. As mobile applications and
content migrate to the cloud, the latency of the network to access the cloud becomes a major
concern. For application and content providers to deliver more efficient, secure and low latency
connections, deployment of such applications or content at the edge of the network becomes
essential [4]. According to the European Standards Institute, the market drivers of MEC are:
Business transformation: Technology improvements and new revenue generating applications
help innovate new business strategies
Industry collaboration: Collaboration between network operators and application and content
providers is essential for optimal access

Balanced Budget Amendment
As we discussed and read about this week in our class, the topic of the US Budget and how, why
and what should we do about it has become a topic with many views and opinions. The United
States of America currently holds over 16 Trillion dollars in debt based on our governments
spending practices for the last ten years. Two wars, numerous fiscal collapses and cliffs, a bubble
popped housing market, looming medical care costs from a socialized healthcare law and a
recession have caused the government to acquire enormous amounts of debt. This debt with caused
by what seems to be from irresponsible spending on both the Legislative and the Executive

Proponents of these amendments also that running deficits over the long term or persistent deficits
can be dangerous as well. When the government runs persistent deficits , a increasing portion of
consumer s savings is used to purchase government debt instead of being invested in private
capital goods . This is called crowding out , and this effect lower output and incomes in the
future. Growing Federal Debt can lead to a sudden fiscal crisis in and of itself. This type of
crises can occur when debt levels become so large in relation to the economy s output that the
government has difficulty selling it. Current and potential bondholders lose confidence with the
governments ability to repay its debt and refuse to buy anymore. The government is then forced
purchase new debt at higher interest rates, often leading to inflation, reduction in government
services and programs and increased economic hardship on its citizens. There are several good
examples of this type of debt crisis in Argentina, Mexico and Greece. The US saw a version of
this in 2011, when S amp;P concerned with the US climbing debt and its credit worthiness reduced
its credit rating or the ability of the country to borrow money at lower interests rates.
A federal Balanced Budget amendment based loosely on those instituted by the States of this
country has many benefits. One such advantage

Watson in the year 1913 titled, Psychology as the behaviorist views it (Watson, 1913). This paper
outlined a series of beliefs that underline the practice of behaviorismapproach. At one point of time
the psychologists even believed that this was the only so called scientific approach (Watson, 1913).
Some of the basic assumptions of the behaviorist approach are:
(A)Complete behavior is learnt from the environment: Behaviorist approach lays extreme emphasis
on the environmental factors how they influence the behavior of humans and animals. This is
almost to the extent that it eliminates the innate inherited factors. This is tantamount to saying that
the behavior is totally learnt and not any other way. The assumption is that the learning happens
due to classical operant conditioning. It therefore implies that when a child is born its mind is
tabula rasa or a blank slate and what gets into the mind is due to the various conditions of the
environment (Sammons, 2014).
(B)Psychology is a science: All scientific theories essential need to be based on sound experimental
data. Experiments must be independently verifiable and repeatable. The empirical data must be
supported by controlled observation as well as measurement of behavior. James Watson opined that
psychology is a purely

In Sorte Diaboli By Kenneth Burke Summary
In Sorte Diaboli (In League with the Devil) Symbols have formed the basis of our society. Our
language, our numbers, emojis, and every facet of our society has been based upon symbols.
Kenneth Burke in his Definition of Man essay brings up how every aspect of our reality has been
built up through our symbolsystems (Kenneth Burke). He describes humans as symbolizing
animals, however extends his definition into more specific terms. We are symbol using, symbol
making, and symbol misusing animals (Burke). This is an important distinction to make because
how it differentiates how symbols are used by us. As it so happens, this three headed definition
applies perfectly to the metal community. To say symbols created that subculture is an
understatement, as use of symbols is prevalent in many different regards. When attending local bay
area metal shows, it was clear that there were many different symbols present. Using
communication, one can see how symbols create the stigma that metalhead are Satanic. At all of the

I have, and while I love freaking people out with all the creative band names out their, it also
shows symbols fluctuate from person to person. See, Septicflesh is a band that gives me happy
memories, as their shows are great and their singer is one of the nicest metal musicians I ve met.
Yet in name alone, people shudder at the thought of such a thing. This is an example of fluctuating
symbols of the metal community. As Celeste Condit explains in her essay about the symboling
animal, symbols are in a constant state of flux (Condit). This of course creates different meanings
and confusion amongst the people. Looking at how symbols are fluctuate from one group to
another can explain how the negative stigma continues to grow about

Scamming Plan Research Paper
My Scamming Plan Drake had just hired me after I had left ExxonMobil. His dad had lent him
enough money to start a proper company but this was his last chance. He ordered me to find
someplace in the Everglades to drill oil because there was a newspaper saying that the
government had bought the drilling rights for oil. My boss s plan was to find oil in the
everglades and then the government would pay us a lot of money not to pump it. After a few
months, I had gotten a six hundred forty acre lease from someone named Vincent Trapwick Jr. It
was known as Section 21 and I had hired some geologists to see if there was any oil in there. After
months of ground testing, I had come to the conclusion that there was not enough oil in Section 21

I thought he had attacked Melton too so I wanted to get him back anyways. I went to his dad s
house and I agreed that I was a tax collector because he thought I was one. For some reason, he
held my lips with a plier and his bird attacked me. I tried to run but he kept me hostage for a few
minutes. He finally let me go and I ran and took his son s backpack. I bought another butane
torch from one of my favorite hardware stores. I then put in in his bag and put it near a fire.
Then, I said I found the backpack and reported it to the fire investigators. Even though I had
gotten that taken care of, I still had a few more problems popping up everywhere. A few months
later, some of my pipes went missing so I got very angry. Even worse, Melton had been assaulted
again and the flags that marked where the pipes would be had been rearranged to spell the word
SCAT. Drake and I were getting very very annoyed. We decided to hire someone or get
something to track whoever was doing this to us. We were in luck. We found a dog handler who
had a dog named Horace who was a trained manhunter. Horace sniffed the flags and looked like
he was on a trail. He ran away from us and the handler shouted his name. We reported the bad news
to Drake

The Real Housewives Of Britain Essay
The Real Housewives of Britain
Coventry Patmore s The Angel in the House of 1854 depicts the quintessential role of The Angel
through a husband s standpoint, during Queen Victoria s reign in the 19th Century. The Angel was
an idealization of a role given to the middle and upper class housewife of Great Britain during the
Victorian era. The Angel served her family and household, who would grow submissive to her
husband while remaining innocent about the realities of the outside world. These women where
glorified to a level of perfection in her home and praised the values of maternal conduct, the
reason she was given the name Angel . Patmore designed this godly figure resulting from his
estranged fifteen year marriage with wife Emily August Andrews. The Angel in the House ,
written through Patmore s point of view, allows the reader to take a stance in hopes of siding
with Patmore and the women s true role to benefit the man. Coventry Patmore is saying The
Angel , an extreme version of today s trophy wife, realistically is nothing without the male on her
side. She has a duty to be perfect that allows the husband to expand in his ventures without getting
in his way. The Angel in the House unwraps from a love story into a depth of the harsh reality of
women in this time. It also allows for the reader to identify with Patmore on this issue.
The Angel in the House is a phrase fabricated by Coventry Patmore, a Victorian poet of the 19th
century. The Angel name is perhaps

Gestalt Therapy Essay
Gestalt Therapy
I. Summary and Integration of Major Concepts
Founded by Frederick (Fritz) and Laura Perls in the 1940 s, Gestalt therapy is a phenomenological
existential methodology which emphasizes experience and experimentation. Gestalt is a German
term that means a complete pattern or configuration (p. 112). Though there are many modalities
and styles in Gestalt therapy, it is holistic in its approach uniting mind, body, and feeling (p. 112).
Some concepts at the core of Gestalt therapy are the organism as a whole , emphasis on the here
and now , and awareness (pp. 223 225). Perls believed that human beings are unified organisms
(p.223) and that mind and body were not separate entities. It was ... Show more content on

It is through this increased awareness that the health (or mental health) of the individual is restored.
II. Breakthroughs and Steps in Learning Practicing Client Centered therapy helped me get over
most of my fear and apprehension about performing as therapist and client in front of my
classmates. So, as we (the class) began our first session in Gestalt I initially felt less nervous about
participating, in fact, I volunteered to be the first client in my group during the first
demonstration. Just like client centered therapy, I had again been in a group that was assigned
to Dr. Fiebert and I felt fortunate to have him demonstrate because I knew that I would learn a
great deal given his years of experience. I had learned through the reading and class lecture that
this was a therapy that called for the therapist to be creative in getting the client to express
emotions and feelings. I was anxious to see what creative techniques Dr. Fiebert would employ.
He began the session by asking me what I was aware of and I told him that I was feeling some
tension in my neck and shoulders. He then asked me to describe the tension, rate the level of
tension on a scale of 1 10, increase the tension and relate it to and experience or incident in my life.
I linked to a recent situation I had experienced with my mother, whom he then brought in to the

Comparing Seated Statue Of Memi And Sabu
I cannot speak as to how well written this essay will end up, but in it, I will attempt to examine
two sculptures, the Statue of Memi and Sabu an Egyptian work and the Seated Statue of Gudea,
which is a Mesopotamian work.
First thing to note about both is the material, which will have some effect on the finished piece.
The Egyptian work, called The Royal Acquaintances Memi and Sabu, is carved from limestone, and
there are traces of paint on it, showing that at one time the figures may have looked much different
than they do today. The statueof Gudea, however, is made of a much harder material, called diorite,
and shows no signs of having been painted.
Given the purpose for each of these statues, I believe that the materials were chosen

Wanderings in India
Soon, the young monks of Baraganore wanted to live the life of wandering monks with rags and a
begging bowl and no other possessions. On July 1890, Vivekananda set out for a long journey,
without knowing where the journey would take him. The journey that followed took him to the
length and breadth of the Indian subcontinent. During these days, Vivekananda assumed various
names like Swami Satchidananda, etc., It is said that he was given the name Vivekananda by
Maharaja of Khetri for his discrimination of things, good and bad. He is affectionately called
Swamiji by his admirers and devotees.
During these wandering days, Vivekananda stayed in king s palaces, as well as the huts of the
poor. He came in close contact with the culture of different regions of India and various classes of
people in India. Vivekananda observed the imbalance in society and tyranny in the name of caste.
He realized the need for a national rejuvenation if India was to survive at all. He reached
Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of the Indian subcontinent in 24 December 1892. There he
swam across the sea and started meditating on a lone rock. He thus meditated for three days and
said later that he meditated about the past, present and future

Geographic Information System
The use of GIS and GPS to accurately predict catastrophic volcanic eruptions allows the ability to
notify people of lava flows, warn of eruption activities, and overall keep the losses to an extreme
low. The low number is achieved by the accuracy of both systems. What exactly is GIS?
Geographical Information System is the use of mapping the geography of a given area to gain
knowledge about it. To start mapping an area you first need a base map, this can be 2
dimensional or even three dimensional. Once the base map is established, there is an endless
amount of data that can be used based upon the topic. This practice of using GIS originated in the
1960 s with a nuclear arms program; now it is being used for multiple different reasons. One...

The purpose of municipal boundaries allows for city planners to know what areas with the
highest population will be affected. Also, cities that have already been established can improve
safety areas for evacuation times. This will allow citizens the ability to gather their things and
move to safety by avoiding lava flow. These maps, when used correctly, will save numerous
lives, and save an incredible amount of money for cities and its citizens. Mount Pinatubo in the
Philippines is a prime example of the success of GIS technology. Mount Pinatubo erupted in
1991. While this eruption was catastrophic, there were thousands of lives, and millions of dollars
saved because of GIS. This was due to the ability of geologist seeing the warning signs of activity
which led them to start mapping areas that were going to be unsafe. Once the areas were
mapped the information was turned over to officials and the military, and evacuations were
given out. The areas that had a high chance of having rocks and other debris land were evacuated
first as well as the U.S. military moving to a safe location. This example shows exactly how
knowing what areas are going to be affected saves lives. While GIS is a great tool to be used to
save lives when it is paired up with GPS monitoring the usefulness of both is fully utilized. GPS or

Breakfast Club Stereotypes
Don t Judge a Book by it s Cover In the piece, don t judge a book by it s cover , the overall protest
statement is against the stereotyping society is conditioned to instinctually do, as well as the
alienation against those who do not act accordingly to their stereotype. This situation occurs during
basic interactions in public, however this situation is witnessed in the prime in the selected contact
zone of Barnes and Noble. This concept is not surface leveled, the basic situation actually stems

example of this is: in the Breakfast Club, the crazy criminal ends up being very considerate, the
athlete ends up being compassionate, the quiet basket case ends up having an outward personality,
the nerd ends up not falling in love with either of the girls (which would be expected due to the
desperate vibe unpopular students are always conveyed as having), and the stuck up princess ends

Overview Of Artificial Neural Networks
Introduction Artificial neural networks are a class of computational structures (Lesk, 2013) made
up of several processing elements, called artificial neurons that are connected and organized in
layers (Larder et al., 2007). They are capable of generating models for the detection of non linear
functions(..). Their algorithms are extensively applied in biology and medicine to solve complex
problems, more specifically for prediction or classification of solutions or to refine methodological
aspects. (Florence and Balasubramanie, 2010). Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a
retrovirus that can lead to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). (Kim et al., 2010). It is a
disease in which the body immune system weakens progressively,... Show more content on

Artificial neural networks have been used extensively as a complimentary bioinformatics tool to
make approximations of the cleavage site activity and specificity. First uses of ANNs to solve
the problem The aim of first research study was to develop a classification model that, given a
sequence of eight amino acids, could discriminate between sequences which are either cleavable
or uncleavable by the HIV 1 protease. (Kim et al., 2010). The neural learning algorithms used
most frequently was back propagation neural networks (BPNNs) (Thomson et al., 2003)
because it performs well on prediction problems. (Sibanda and Pretorius, 2012). When BBNN
was used for the prediction of the HIV 1 protease cleavage site, it gave a prediction accuracy
92%(Thomson et al., 2010) However, one of the major disadvantages of using ANNs to analyse
biological data referred to the impossibility of most ANNs of recognizing non numerical features
like amino acids. Hence an encoding process to model the amino acids was preferable.
(Thomson et al., 2003) The advantage of the Bio basic functional neural networks The
peculiarity of this algorithm relates to its ability to recognise amino acids directly. Thus,
avoiding the use of 20 binary bits to represent each amino acid is advantageous. (2003) The
prediction accuracy of BBFNN was proved in a research study using 362 HIV protease sequences,
where 114 were with cleavage sites and

How To Build A Garage Door Openers
Having a garage means that you can go to bed at night without having to worry about your car
being parked out in the open. You do not have to worry about scratches, dust, dew drops, rain
and most importantly, gifts from birds landing straight on your windshield or the car roof. You
can find your car inside your garage as you left it there. However, having a garage also means
another thing. It means having to lift the door open and having to shut it every time you have to
go somewhere. Thankfully, that little problem has been taken care of by garage door openers.
Garage door openers are motor powered devices that open and shut the garage doors. Some can be
operated manually by switches installed inside the garage and others can be operated... Show more

However, chain operated garage door openers are very noisy and can make a great deal of racket
every time you open and close the door. Belt driven ones are operated by belts which are
flexible, operate smoothly and do not make much noise. The third type, screw driven openers
operate along a steel rod opening and closing mechanism. However, these can also be very noisy
due to the metallic nature of the rod, and thus annoying. It is also important that you choose the
type of garage door opener driving system according to the location of the garage. If the garage
is located away from bedrooms or the master bedroom, then even a noisy opener would not be a
bad idea. However, if your bedroom is above or adjacent to the garage then you should opt for
the least noisy ones to spare yourself and your family the noise. These door openers are powered
by motors with different power ranges. You can conduct a research on the type of motor that you
want by checking its speed of lifting and the electric power that it consumes. Most motors include
a battery operated backup in case of a power outage. That way you would not have to worry about
having the door being stuck midway or not being able to open it at

Essay on Sport Psychology
Sport Psychology: How it Helps Athletes
In our society today it seems like sports rule the land. Everywhere we look, there is some kind of
sporting event going on or being televised. Almost everyone could be considered a fan of at least
one sport. Some people follow sports like a religion. With such an increased focus on sports, the
athlete s performances are put under a microscope. This puts more pressure on athletes to give a
winning performance. No longer do athletes play for fun, they play to win. This isn t happening
just on the professional level; it is happening on all levels of sport. From little league to backyard

(Miserandino, 1998, p. 287) Athletes can also suffer greatly from anxiety and stress. (Holm,
Beckwith, Ehde, Tinius, 1995, p. 463) Any of these conditions can be detrimental to ones
competitive ability. Techniques such as mental imagery training and relaxation techniques can be
used to attack problems in these areas. (McKenzie, Howe, 1997, p. 196) Marianne Miserandino s
research was focused on failure, and why athletes believe that they don t accomplish their goals.
She learned that starting at young age, athletes are told that failure comes from their lack of
ability. This is called learned helplessness. (Miserandino, 1998, p. 287) In her study she
approached this problem by splitting her subject into two groups. One group received feedback
about their shooting techniques and were told that lack of effort was the reason for missed shots,
not lack of ability. The other group received only feedback on their techniques.
After her 4 week study was done, the group that received the positive reinforcement showed more
mastery of the skills and greater improvement than their counterparts. (Miserandino, 1998 p. 286)
Another study also used basketball free throws as the basis for its study. Craig Wrisberg and Mark
Anshel did this study. It looks at the effectiveness of applying cognitive techniques to improve
performance of shooting free throws. (Wrisberg, Anshel, 1989, p. 95)

  • 2. The, A Fusion Of Animal And Machine In You Are a Cyborg (Harl, Kunzru, 2013), Donna Haraway claims that humans are cyborgs; a fusion of animal and machine . Not robots like artificial intelligence Ava in Ex Machina (Garland, 2015), but cybernetic organisms or information machines. Haraway s cyborg claim rests on a complex interaction between humans and technology and how this interaction is not co existing with one another, but as humans and technology incorporating one another. The Dictionary of Sociology defines cyborgas a, growing integration of human beings into mechanical systems (2012). Following Haraway s claim, I am a cyborg when I use technology, and more specifically when I use the social media application Instagram. Instagram is a social networking application... This user to user interaction on Instagram is not typical face to face communication because Instagram tracks when the interaction took place, what happened in the interaction, the time, the place, and so on and so forth. In this form of communication, it is not only the direct parties involved who experience the interaction, but a third party is gathering information based on the details of the interaction. As an Instagram user, I am a cybernetic organism, because I am associated with the vast network of profiles, companies, and advertising on Instagram and therefore subject to the gathering of information. Next, Instagram uses the detailed information on its users to create an updated model of a changing situation a synthesis of information collected, analyzed, evaluated and assembled (Licklider Taylor, 1968). Instagram takes in the information from its users, analyzes it, and redistributes it back through the form of, for example, an explore page . This means Instagram has created a feedback system based on what users like, comment or share with our friends. When I go on the explore page on Instagram it is not just random profiles, but a precise scientific algorithm based on the people I follow, posts I like, my geographical location, and more. • 3. The Center And Yorkdale Mall The socioeconomic significance of malls is seen through visual culture, where the mall has become a place to meet up with friends and family, on any day of the week weekends being the busiest. Hence the mall has become a centre of life, where the most memorable moments, holidays and birthdays are spent, dinners are held all under one roof (Stokrocki 80). In Toronto the two largest malls I explored were the Toronto Eaton s Centre and Yorkdale Mall both of which included over 200 stores, eateries, rainforest cafГ©s, and a movie theatre. However what was evident about these two malls apart from the rest included anti social behaviours despite families being grouped together. Although people were together, the sense of togetherness was plastic just like the manikins of store displays. It appeared as though families were shoppingjust as an excuse to go out as a family even though children, teens and adults would disperse into the stores of their choice and meet up at the end for a takeout meal, contacting each other through their phones. In addition to this observation included the fact that families shopping with other families or family friends were more of an exploitation of social and economic class. People being able to spend at stores like Michael Kors, Coach, Tory Burch, Abercrombie Fitch, Lululemon, Kate Spade and many more, without worrying about going over budget meant being affluent. What really needs to be questioned is the idea that if these people spend at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In our day and age, technology will continue to have a massive impact on transportation. • 5. Psychodynamic Approach The psychodynamic approach on the study of human behaviour is based around the work of Sigmund Freud. Freud believed that when people explainied their own behaviour to themselves or to someone else, we rarely gave a true account of our motivation. However, this wasn t because people are trying to lie on purpose. Freud suggested that the majority of human behaviour is influenced by things we are not consciously aware of and that our deeper motivations are not seen but hidden away. In the present time, in spite of his mother s actions towards him, Artie tries to be away from home as often as possible. So, he stays over at his girlfriend s place a few days at a time. The fourth frame of this short story depicts Artie running down the sidewalk, and his narration above reading: I d just spent the weekend with my girlfriend, Isabella. (My parents didn t like her.) I was late getting home. As I mentioned before, Artie probably stays at his girlfriend s house often because he does not want to be near his parents which explains why he was late. There is little if any connection between Artie and his parents, especially with his mother. He knows that he will never be his older brother Richieu and this disappoints his parents. The fifth frame of this strip is one of the most important frames. In this frame, Artie expresses to the reader for the first time the guilt he has developed resulting from his mother s suicide. He states I suppose that if I d gotten home when expected, I would have found her body. It features many critically acclaimed actors, Zendaya Coleman as Anne Wheeler, Michelle Williams as Charity Barnum, Zac Efron as Phillip Carlyle, Hugh Jackman as P.T. Barnum, and Rebecca Ferguson as Jenny Lind. Their characters go through several trials throughout the filmincluding (but not limited to) interracial relationships, monetary issues, hate crimes, as well as racial and oddity discrimination. I did a short Google search when I saw it the first time, as well as simply looking through my newsfeed on Facebook; many people aren t too happy with the portrayal of Barnum, as he was not the man Jackman portrayed him to be in the film. He put the misfits on display as freaks and oddities, drawing on the crowds racial discriminations and hatred to make a profit. The movie didn t even mention Joice Heth, an elderly, blind, and severely paralyzed slave. Not having jobs meant that it would be awfully hard for them to obtain a loan from banks in order to purchase homes. The government decided to help the American people by creating the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) which basically stepped in and allowed banks to offer mortgages to more people with the promise that the banks would get their money back. The FHA finances itself with insurance premiums that they charge borrowers as well as interest that they receive on reserves. They use these funds to underwrite more loans which helps out people with their mortgages. Two other government sponsored enterprises are Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. They were built by congress to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my opinion, the government should take a step back and not be involved in the USA housing market any longer. The reason behind my thinking has to do with the new president we have in the White House. President has come out and said that he has a new tax reform plan that s supposed to have significant changes not only to personal taxes but corporate taxes as well. Trump has said that he wants to lower the corporate tax rate from the current 35% to 20, maybe even 15% which is great news for corporations but not so great when it comes to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The reason that this would be bad for these enterprises is because they are under conservatorship and cutting the corporate tax rate would force these enterprises to once again need a bailout. Being under conservatorship means that for every quarter Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac make a profit, they have to pay dividends to the department of treasury and at the same time they aren t allowed to rebuild capital but instead their capital base is diminished as time passes which means that in 2018 they will have not one penny remaining in their capital reserves. Furthermore, lower corporate tax rates mean that Fannie Mac and Freddie Mac will have significant deferred tax asset write downs...which, in turn, could lead to the GSE s need an additional draw from the Treasury to cover tax related losses (Housingwire). To reiterate my point once again, I believe that the government shouldn t continue its involvement in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is the intention of this report to analyse the positive and negative impacts of a rise in interest rates on the loanable fund market in Australia. In order to analyse the impacts of an increase in interest rates on the loanable fund market, the reasons behind the possible rate rise in the near future will be looked upon. Charts and diagrams have been used to illustrate the intention of this report and it is hoped that by looking at these vital elements the intended user will be able to understand the issue more thoroughly and follow the analysis behind it and get a clear understanding of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lenders would compete for borrowers, driving the interest rate down. Similarly, if the interest rate in the market is less than the equilibrium rate, the quantity of funds demanded would be greater than the quantity of funds supplied. The shortage of loanable funds would result in upward pressure on the interest rate (Mankiw, 2001). 4. Effect of demand on Interest rates for Loanable Funds: The demand on interest rates for loanable funds affects the Household sectors, Business sectors and Government sectors. 4.1 Household Sectors: The impact of a rate rise decreases the demand for the loanable funds from the household sector. As this foreseeable increase interest rate could add $50 to the monthly repayments on a $300,000 mortgage. This may discourage many new home buyers to differ from buying a house for now, due to the added costs of taking out a mortgage during a period in which interest rates are expected to be high. However, at present in Australia the demand for housing is positive and high. The household sector is doing very well, despite the Reserve Bank raising interest rates, said Westpac senior economist Andrew Hanlan (Bourlioufas Wires, 2007). This is so because the low petrol prices helped the household sector in doing well (Bourlioufas Wires, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Distinguishing features include the fourth mandibular tooth, the long, broad snout, and the thick, scaly skin. Like some other reptiles, alligators have temperature dependent sex determination, which is a non genetic way of determining the sex ratio of offspring produced. Unlike other reptiles, alligators exhibit parental care; they nest guard, and even offer evidence of maternal care for juveniles after hatching. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some female reptiles will guard the eggs they lay, and others will not, but egg guarding is about as far as parental care typically goes. Alligator mississippiensis is one of the rare exceptions to this common reptilian trend. Gravid female alligators will build nests, lay the eggs, and protect them from possible predators. When presented with a possible threat to her clutch, the female will hiss, or lunge at the perceived predator (Kushlan, 1973). Come hatching time, she may open the nest or help the juveniles out of their eggs, and carry them in her mouth to the water (Passek, 1999). In some cases, males have assisted the hatching of the offspring by breaking open the eggs, similar to the female. According to Passek, hatchlings communicate with each other while still in the eggs by using vocalizations. When hatched, these vocalizations are calls that alert the mother to possible distress. In an attempt to test the idea of maternal care in the American alligator, Kushlan observed mothers and their offspring. Juveniles at the nest were captured and then lightly squeezed to elicit a call of distress, and the mother s reactions were observed. In each of the three trials, the mother came to the juveniles rescue with a threatening ferocity. Kushlan s study on maternal care provided solid evidence of post hatchling parental care in Alligator ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Symbolism In The Swimmer By John Cheever By the time the alcohol touches the tongue, the storm has already begun. John Cheever s relationship with alcohol presents itself throughout the short story The Swimmer , and uses the character, Ned Merrill, to represent the struggles he was experiencing. Addiction and the need for alcohol drove this character into a storm he couldn t retreat from. In The Swimmer Cheever uses a physical storm and the changes in the weather to show the path of drinking and becoming an alcoholic. The short storybegins with joy and excitement, then turns into something casual and frequent, but eventually leads to misfortune and a misery. Nobody desires to be led to an unpleasant storm, that comes with drinking alcohol. Cheever uses nature and the storms to represent the life of an alcoholic. Drinking may not seem to be so bad at first, but the consequences come later in the journey. John Cheever begins this short story with an initial sign of casual drinking. Ned Merrill and his wife are accompanied by friends who all say they drank too much last night as if they were all drinking together (Cheever 726). Right from the beginning, Cheever gives readers the hint that characters from this story drink a lot. He makes it a part of the social norm, so it seems to be something done on the regular. Before Ned decides to begin a journey to swim the Lucinda River, he notices the weather. Cheever directs the focus to the fact that it was a fine day. In the west there was a massive stand of cumulus cloud so like a city seen from a distance , marking the beginning of the storm (726). Looking into the West, a place of death and misfortune, are where fluffy and cotton like clouds are on display. In literature, the West is often symbolic of death and dying since the sun sets over that horizon. A time where leaves and plants die, and the start of darkness. Those clouds may look peaceful, but they represent the beginning of a storm coming from the disastrous West. Eventually, the fun and laughter turn into something normal and boring, and drinking more serves to reanimate his social interactions. Unfortunately, those problems are only gone for a little while, and Ned Merrill finds this out the hard way by continuing his journey. Each house ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The United States of America currently holds over 16 Trillion dollars in debt based on our governments spending practices for the last ten years. Two wars, numerous fiscal collapses and cliffs, a bubble popped housing market, looming medical care costs from a socialized healthcare law and a recession have caused the government to acquire enormous amounts of debt. Proponents of these amendments also that running deficits over the long term or persistent deficits can be dangerous as well. When the government runs persistent deficits , a increasing portion of consumer s savings is used to purchase government debt instead of being invested in private capital goods . This is called crowding out , and this effect lower output and incomes in the future. Growing Federal Debt can lead to a sudden fiscal crisis in and of itself. This type of crises can occur when debt levels become so large in relation to the economy s output that the government has difficulty selling it. Current and potential bondholders lose confidence with the governments ability to repay its debt and refuse to buy anymore. The government is then forced purchase new debt at higher interest rates, often leading to inflation, reduction in government services and programs and increased economic hardship on its citizens. There are several good examples of this type of debt crisis in Argentina, Mexico and Greece. The US saw a version of this in 2011, when S amp;P concerned with the US climbing debt and its credit worthiness reduced its credit rating or the ability of the country to borrow money at lower interests rates. • 40. Theoretical Perspective On Behaviorism Theory Essay Theoretical Perspective to Behaviorism Behaviorism is also often referred to as the Learning Theory. The origin of the behaviorism can be traced back to the paper that was written by James Watson in the year 1913 titled, Psychology as the behaviorist views it (Watson, 1913). This paper outlined a series of beliefs that underline the practice of behaviorismapproach. At one point of time the psychologists even believed that this was the only so called scientific approach (Watson, 1913). Some of the basic assumptions of the behaviorist approach are: (A)Complete behavior is learnt from the environment: Behaviorist approach lays extreme emphasis on the environmental factors how they influence the behavior of humans and animals. This is almost to the extent that it eliminates the innate inherited factors. This is tantamount to saying that the behavior is totally learnt and not any other way. The assumption is that the learning happens due to classical operant conditioning. It therefore implies that when a child is born its mind is tabula rasa or a blank slate and what gets into the mind is due to the various conditions of the environment (Sammons, 2014). (B)Psychology is a science: All scientific theories essential need to be based on sound experimental data. Experiments must be independently verifiable and repeatable. The empirical data must be supported by controlled observation as well as measurement of behavior. James Watson opined that psychology is a purely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Real Housewives Of Britain Essay The Real Housewives of Britain Coventry Patmore s The Angel in the House of 1854 depicts the quintessential role of The Angel through a husband s standpoint, during Queen Victoria s reign in the 19th Century. The Angel was an idealization of a role given to the middle and upper class housewife of Great Britain during the Victorian era. The Angel served her family and household, who would grow submissive to her husband while remaining innocent about the realities of the outside world. These women where glorified to a level of perfection in her home and praised the values of maternal conduct, the reason she was given the name Angel . (Kim et al., 2010). The neural learning algorithms used most frequently was back propagation neural networks (BPNNs) (Thomson et al., 2003) because it performs well on prediction problems. When BBNN was used for the prediction of the HIV 1 protease cleavage site, it gave a prediction accuracy 92%(Thomson et al., 2010) However, one of the major disadvantages of using ANNs to analyse biological data referred to the impossibility of most ANNs of recognizing non numerical features like amino acids.
