The Carbon Of Arctic Reservoirs Vulnerability Experiment
The Carbon in Arctic Reservoirs Vulnerability Experiment (CARVE) is a multi year mission
conducted by NASA to obtain detailed calculations of greenhouse gas emissions, such as carbon
dioxide and methane from thawing permafrost by probing deep into the frozen landscape of Alaska.
For the first time, NASA scientists have been accurately recording these emission sources and rates
using highly sensitive airborne sensors mounted on NASA government aircraft. NASA scientists
expect to make unprecedented accurate estimates of the extent of Arctic carbon cycling impacts to the
Arctic atmosphere and the local Alaskan ecology. The data results of this mission will help both
NASA and global scientists better understand how the estimated rate of greenhouse gas emissions
affect the rise in temperature and potential impact of Earth s future climate near and long term. The
CARVE mission goals intend to answer important questions about Earth climate change. Ultimately,
CARVE will provide an integrated set of data that will provide unprecedented experimental insights
into Arctic carbon cycling. Over the last several decades, climatologists have found that Arctic
regions, in particular, have been affected most ecologically, for overall global increased temperature
changes resulting from greenhouse gas emissions. Landscapes in the Arctic have change dramatically
over the last decade alone. As tundra has thawed earlier than seasonally normal, and Arctic ice has
melted in oceans year around

A Covenant Of The Common Law Rule
Critically, a release takes effect immediately. Id. As a consequence, a release immediately discharges
any obligation within its scope. Id. Accordingly, because a release has the effect of immediately
discharging an obligation, the release is tendered at the time the release is given. Therefore, a release
cannot be breached because complete performance is rendered at the moment release is effectuated. In
some instances again, generally in the context of joint tortfeasors the common law rule that a release
had the effect of discharging an obligation rather than an obligor was perceived to apply too harshly
when an obligee gave a release with an obvious intent to only discharge one but not all obligors.
Shriver, supra, 155 Md. at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Contrary to a release, a covenant not to sue did not have the effect of discharging an obligation, but
rather it was a promise made by the obligee to refrain from enforcing the obligation. This distinction
permitted a plaintiff to reach a settlement with one joint tortfeasor without discharging the obligation
with respect to the remaining obligors. This concept is reflected in the Restatement (Second) of
Contracts, which defines a contract not to sue as a contract under which the obligee of a duty promises
never to sue the obligor or a third person to enforce the duty or not to do so for a limited time.
Restatement (Second) of Contracts § 285. The material distinction between a release and a covenant
not to sue is that a release is an immediate discharge, and performance is complete at the time the
release is effectuated. A covenant not to sue, on the other hand, is a promise for the maker to undertake
some future performance. Stated differently, [d]ischarge by release . . . has long been regarded as an
executed transaction rather than an executory promise whereas a covenant not to sue . . . was treated
as an executory promise. Restatement (Second) of Contracts § 295 cmt. a. For this reason, a lawsuit on

The Financial Crisis Of 2008
The world before the financial crisis of 2008 had stability. Iceland in 2000 was viewed as the perfect
place to live and have your family grow. Iceland had clean energy, high standard of living, jobs, and
low government debt. Iceland was a place were children played and parents laughed and enjoyed their
life. Everyone lived well; Iceland was the role model of finance, until it all melted away. Iceland let
giant corporations come into its territory and exploit its geothermal and hydroelectric resources and its
banks became so large to where their banks became larger than their economy, impossible to bail out.
The banks became unruly where the people even supposed to regulate the bank one third of them
worked for the bank. The cause of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This created a toxic situation where people took out a mortgage loan, with a high rate, could not pay it
back creating a bubble to where the investment banks had no one else to lend to, and needed to be
bailed out. Banks became rich and borrowed heavily to create more loans to create more short term
money that became the big investment banks bonuses. This created a global panzi scheme.
The problem is deregulation. The definition of deregulation is the elimination of government power
with in an industry. In this case banks and financial institutions of the world. Deregulation could be
seen as greed, big corporations, monopolies, where the rich get richer. Deregulation is the cause of the
financial crisis of 2008. Deregulation means no one is watching over the banks and CEO is saying no
and stopping the gambling of people s savings. The 2008 economy got to the point of a financial crisis
due to speculation of savings, investor banks went public and in turn turned Wall Street became rich.
Financial deregulation made for risky investments and looting companies. An example of this is the
merger of two big insurance companies Travelers and Citigroup in the 1990 has violated the Glass
Stele Act, but was ignored for a whole year by the SEC. The SEC is the Securities and Exchange
Commission ho are supposed to be monitoring and making sure big corporations like this do not

Euthyphro Paradox Essay
Jeremy Jones

The Euthyphro Paradox
Socrates is said to be one of the wisest man who ever lived. Even in the book, The Trial and Death of
Socrates, the Oracle of Delphi even said that no man is wiser than Socrates. Although that statement in
itself can be dissected and analyzed, the main focus at hand is that of line 10a of the Euthyphro. In this
passage, Socrates presents to Euthyphro what is known even to this day as the Euthyphro Paradox .
For someone unfamiliar with the current situation in the Euthyphro, it is probably best to summarize
and explained this particular passage. Not only will explaining the dialogue shed light to the passage
but it will also help explain the Euthyphro Paradox. To begin with, Euthyphro and Socrates both meet
each other in Athens in front of the court house. They ended up starting a conversation. They come to
learn why the other is there. Euthyphro is there because he is convicting his father for murdering one
of his servants. Socrates is there because Meletus is convicting him for being impious and corrupting
the youth. Socrates begins by questioning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Socrates than decides to ask Euthyphro if he knows what being pious means. Euthyphro answers by
saying that piety is his actions. This means in a sense that by convicting his father of murder he is
being pious. However Socrates is not satisfied with Euthyphro s answer because this is an example of
being pious and not the definition. To Socrates, Euthyphro seems to understand the difference between
being pious and impious because he knows that murder is wrong. So he then asks, Is the pious being
loved by the gods because it is pious, or is it pious because it is being loved by the gods (Grube 11)?
Essentially another way of saying this would be, God loves something because it is good or

Montana 1948 Abusing Power
Montana 1948 by Larry Watson is a novel set during the time of post Second World War in the rural
town of Bentrock located in Mercer County, Montana USA. There are a series of events that occur
which demonstrate how abusing power can result in catastrophic consequences which affect both
individuals and communities. Characters Frank, Julian, Wes, and the whole white community abused
their capabilities which resulted in negative outcomes. Local doctor Frank Hayden is one of the many
people in the Bentrock community to overstep his power and mistreat it. By sexually abusing a
debilitated minority Sioux women he was able to commit his crimes under a cover of fear, social
status, and common racial prejudice. However, when Gail tells Wes ... Show more content on

Wes has carried out traits that past sheriff and father has enforced. This includes obvious and casual
racism and also the importance to family loyalty. What makes Julian and Wes different is that Wes
learns that justice is more important in a society than loyalty. By believing in this, his abuse of power
has had lesser consequences but they are still significant in the novel. Wes is responsible for the Frank
s arrest which later on caused severe family tension. But the important consequence is that Wes didn t
going to treat his brother the same as any other criminal that he d pass in his job. Instead of jailing
Frank in the town jail, Wes finds his own basement as the most suitable option. In practicality,
prisoning Frank in a basement is not the best or safest option, especially for the people who live above
that basement. If Wes fully lived by his responsibilities and promise to justice, he would have arrested
Frank in the professional matter he does with anyone else under arrest. This may be a small mistreat of
power, but it s an important one that affects Wes

Horned Lizard Essay
In the article about How the Horned Lizard Got its horns the main hypothesis proposed by Young et.
al. (2004) is how horned lizards used their horns to protect themselves from predators and how
selection favors the length of their horns (Young et. al. 2004). The thing that the researchers wanted to
test is if the length of the horns made an impact on the survivability of the horned lizards (Young et.
al. (2004)). They tested this by measuring the length of the horned lizards from a group of living
lizards and skulls of the deceased (Young et. al. 2004). According to the data the horned lizards the
lived where the ones with the longer horns in contrast to the deceased carcasses which had the shorter

al. 2004, (Agosta et. al. 2004) critique the article by stating that there was not sufficient information
that was provided for the evidence to claim that the horned lizards were adapting. The points Agosta
et. al. 2004 thought that Young et. al. addressed was evidence that selection has occurred on the trait in
question (Young et. al. 2004). An example of this would be when Young et. al. talked about how the
horned lizards with the shorter length were least favored by selection therefore lizards with longer
horns would have greater fitness (Young et. al. 2004). On the other hand, according to Agosta et. al.
claim that Young et. al. failed to present three major points. The three major points are the existence of
a functional explanation for putative fitness differences associated with the trait , evidence for
heritability of phenotype differences corresponding to trait variation , and knowledge of phylogeny
such that putative adaptations can be shown to have originated in selective regimes in which they are
currently advantageous (Agosta et. al. 2004). Agosta et. al. thought the young et. al. lacked the
information to support whether the horned lizards had adapted to the shrikes (Agosta et. al.

Waiting for the Barbarians by J.M. Coetzee Essay
In J.M. Coetzee s novel Waiting for the Barbarians, the Magistrate comes to discover the humanity of
the barbarian through his interactions with the blind girl, which eventually leads him to learn about the
nature of his own humanity. Although the Magistrate is more lenient on the Barbarians than Colonel
Joll, he still unknowingly objectifies them, while placing himself above them. It is only when he is
imprisoned that he comes to realize the fragility of his own humanity. Ultimately Coetzee uses the
magistrate s journey from empirical leader to broken and fearful prisoner to express that peace and
stability between people can only be obtained when all humanity is valued. At the beginning of the
novel, the magistrate actually seems to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The magistrate states
This body in my bed, for which I am responsible, or so it seems, otherwise why do I keep it? For the
time being, perhaps forever, I am simply bewildered. It seems all one whether I lie down beside her
and fall asleep or fold her in a sheet and bury her in the snow. Nevertheless, bending over her,
touching my fingertips to her forehead, I am careful not to spill the wax. (43)
Here, the magistrate simply refers to the girl as a body, not as a living human. He claims that he is
responsible for her, showing that he sees her as a possession. He even refers to her as it, which clearly
objectifies her. The fact that he wonders why he keeps her shows that her only purpose to him is
sexual gratification; other than that she holds no human quality. He says that there would be no
difference between lying next to her and burying her in the snow, showing that he has no emotional
connection to her. When he is careful not to spill the wax, he is showing some sort of care for her, but
only so far as one would care for an object, just as anyone would want to avoid spilling something on
an object of some value. The magistrate is able to condemn Joll for his dehumanization of the
barbarians, but only because Joll s purpose for the barbarians has to do with the goals of the empire.
They are objects who have no value should they fail to meet the empire s needs. For the magistrate,
the goals of the empire are not of paramount importance. However, when

Research Paper On Angela Merkel
This research paper is on Angela Merkel, a leader that has made a significant impact on a lot of
people. Merkel is the chancellor of Germany, and she plays an important role as a leader for Germany
and the European Union. In June 2016, Forbes Magazine ranked Angela Merkel as the most powerful
woman in the world (McNamara). Earlier this year, Merkel was ranked on a second place on the
World s 50 Greatest Leaders on Fortune Magazine after Jeff Bezoz, the CEO of Amazon (Colvin). The
annual lists of great leaders and powerful men and women in our world show how important they are
as they transform the world and encourage others to do the same. Angela Merkel is playing a huge role
in making the world a better place, as a leader and as a woman she has had great success for the past
decade. According to Business News Daily there are 33 Ways to Define Leadership , and the most
common and simplest way to define leadership is the power or ability to lead other people (Helmrich).

leaders are. She has been doing a lot during her years as the Chancellor of Germany, and has
contributed to develop Germany financially and has been the leading figure to the powerful nation it is
today. As the most powerful woman in the world, she must have the ability to inspire and motivate
people to follow her and that can be difficult for woman, as they don t have the same power as men.

The sun is an incredible 2 million degrees Celsius and can reach 15 million in the core. The Sun has a
very strong magnetic field. Solar flares occur when magnetic energy is released by the Sun during
magnetic storms, which we see as sunspots. In sunspots, the magnetic lines are twisted and they spin,
much like a tornado would on Earth. (sun facts, 2012)
How the sun began
Gravity drew dust and gas together to create the solar system. The sun formed first from the material
closely by the planets. Waves of energy traveling through space pressed clouds of such particles closer
together, and gravity causes them to collapse in on themselves. As the material drew together, gravity
caused it to spin. The spin caused the cloud to flatten into a disk like a pancake. In the centre, the
material clumped together to form a protostar that would eventually become the sun. The protostar
was a ball of hydrogen and helium not yet powered by fusion. Over the course of 50 million years, the
temperature and pressure of the material inside increased, jumpstarting the fusion of hydrogen that
drives the sun today. (Credit, 2016)

Technology s Impact On Technology And The Impact Of...
The Impact of Technology
Computers, laptops, cellphones, and eventually artificial intelligence? Technology has sure been
advancing rapidly, and will continue to advance for years to come. Think about all of the tasks that
once required a trip to the library that can now easily be done with a computer. Google s search
engine, for instance, significantly simplifies research you simply enter what you want, and the engine
spews out the relevant information. But the harmful effects are plentiful as well. Nicholas Carr
addresses popular concerns in Is Google Making Us Stupid, arguing that technology is molding the
human brain into an efficiency prioritizing machine, one less flexible, less artistic than the human
mind. Although technology inspires artists and informs authors, it is mostly making people stupid, for
it encourages a skimming mentality and cultivates impatience.
Before revealing technology s harmful effects, it is important to address its benefits. Proponents of
technology argue of its importance in artistic inspiration. For instance, websites like Soundcloud,
Youtube, and deviantArt allow users to share accomplishments, and many young artists are guided by
the social media of successful artists. While it is true that the internet inspires artists, it is equally true
that it limits them creatively. Commercialism creeps throughout the internet community music, art,

Child Obesity Research Essay
Child Obesity Having obese children is a problem. The question resumes, why? Are children less
active? Are they not eating the right things? Or are they a product of their parents lifestyle? Whatever
the answer maybe, we must find it quick. Obesity in children Is becoming an epidemic. And the
African American population is leading the way. According to WE Can!, a program of the National

Being A Clarinet Essay
To start off my coat of arms I drew a clarinet in the middle. This clarinet represents something that I
want to get better at in the next year. Recently I have started playing clarinet so that I could join
Marching Band and Wind Ensemble. I believe that if I keep practicing every day and make a goal for
a year from now to be at 2nd clarinet level, I can succeed. My motto is work hard a stay strong, so
practicing and believing in myself will help me to be an expert next year. I used the colors red, blue,
and green. Green symbolizes balance and growth which I need to complete my goal. Red symbolizes
passion and ambition which I believe are two important qualities needed when wanting to get better at
something. Blue symbolizes trust and peace. If I stay calm and trust myself I will be able to
accomplish many goals, not just learning clarinet. Next, in the top right corner, I drew me saying
polite phrases that I use every day. This is the one thing I have learned from somebody else. When I
was young, my parents taught me how to be polite and use manners. This skill that I learned from my
parents has helped me so much in my lifetime especially when being a guest or speaking to an adult.
My motto, work hard and stay strong, applies to this because you can do both those things well with
manners, especially if you need help, and can use manners to ask for help. I used the colors orange,
yellow, and blue. Blue symbolizes integrity which I possess with the ability to use manners.

Analysis Of Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep
By 2021, nuclear war has devastated the planet Earth. It has led to the mass extinction of several
species and has prompted electric animal development; it has left entire apartment buildings to just
one tenant and has encouraged human connection via the Empathy Box; and it has caused humankind
such heartache, that scientists have created the Penfield Mood Organ to regulate emotions. Above all
else, however, it has led to isolation. The technological advancements that it has inspired have
consumed human s attention and pushed them apart.
In Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, Philip K. Dick suggests that human dependence on
technology has blurred the boundaries between humans and androids; both are in fact cyborgs
hybrid[s] of machine and organism (Haraway, 149). By having his human characters describe such
technologies as the Empathy Box, the Penfield Mood Organ, and television as extension[s] of [their]
bod[ies] and the absence of them as the absence of life, Dick supports post humanist literary critic
Katherine Hayles argument that technology...has become so entwined with the production of identity
that it can no longer meaningfully be separated from the human subject and implies that technological
inventions have replaced personal interactions (Dick, 66 and 5 / Hayles, xiii). Yet the revelation at the
end of the novel that the Empathy Box is fraudulent represents technology s fraudulence. Technology
only deceivingly replaces personal interactions; it fails to

The Landscape With The Fall Of Icarus Essay
The stories of Icarus and Prometheus are two famous Greek myths, having been portrayed in many
types of media by various renowned artists like Pieter Bruegel the Elder and Lord George Gordon
Byron respectively. The two stories are portrayed in painting and poem form respectively. Both also
tell the stories in a different way by emphasizing some points and overshadowing others to illustrate
their message. Bruegel uses his lack of focus towards the misfortune of Icarus to illustrate that the
suffering or misfortune of one is easily missed or ignored by others, while Byron uses his
magnification of Prometheus suffering in order to illustrate that suffering for a righteous cause is
noble and good. In Bruegel s painting, The Landscape with the Fall of Icarus , he depicts a beautiful

However, hiding in the bottom right corner is a pair of legs, which belong to Icarus who is drowning.
The way that Bruegel tries to downplay and hide the drowning of Icarus by putting him in the
background instead of having Icarus being the main subject in the picture illustrates his message, that
suffering and misfortune of other people are often missed and ignored by others. On the other hand,
Byron, with his poem, Prometheus , writes about the glorious deeds of Prometheus and how
Prometheus is punished unjustly. Byron uses phrases like [a]ll the proud can feel of pain and [o]f thine
impenetrable spirit in order to highlight the glorious suffering and perseverance Prometheus (8, 42).
The spirit of martyrdom is clearly seen in this poem when Byron puts in his poem and making Death a
Victory, as martyrs die for a cause which makes their deaths a victory (59). Byron illustrates his
message, that sacrificing yourself for a just cause is a terrific thing to do, by glorifying the suffering of

A Blonde Curtain Of Hair
A blonde curtain of hair stands between me and the girl, who keeps her head down and tucked into her
knees as if ashamed to be near me. My eyes dart around the room, but all I see is black, black walls,
black floors, and the black dress draped over the blonde girl s pale frame.
She looks up and my sister s face is the one that greets me. Emma, I want to say Em, what s going on?
But my lips won t move. No sound is heard throughout the room until I hear her voice Why Alice!
Why did you try to save me! Maybe you could have saved yourself! Tears roll down her face as she
stands walking to where I lay in my wooden coffin . She walks over to me and closes the case.
You failed me.
Those words echo through my mind again and again as I wake, shooting up from my cot, my breath
heavy and my entire body damp with sweat.
I try to shake off the memory of the dream, reminding myself won t give me anything but guilt but it
stays with me haunting my every thought.
I try and take care of my morning routine like always but the memory of the dream continues to
consume my thoughts, I climb to the top of my bed frame and peer out the tiny window at the lawn,
thinking that the small bit of sunlight I can get will help me clear my brain, but I m just reminded of a
time where we would be allowed out there. The privilege was revoked years ago after information
about a planned insurgence in the yard was leaked. I sighed, my toes curling with the desire to sink
themselves into

The Expectations Of The Weighted Average Cost Of Capital
The expectations of the weighted average cost of capital (WACC) varies when using market values of
equity versus book value of equity because they are fundamentally different when attempting to
analyze a business for investment endeavors. Book value and market value can determine if a stock or
business venture is a practical one. Book value is simply the value of a business on its books or
sometimes known as the accounting value. In comparison, the market value is determined by market
investors and is the more meaningful value because it is the value placed on a stock despite what the
book value is. These values can differ considerably and depends of various factors intrinsic to
understanding overall value. Industry or sector type, financial strength or confidence of the business to
generate profit plays a role in market value where these are not considered in the book value. For
example, if the book value is greater than market value, investors will consider the value of the
company is worth less in the financial market than what the book value states. In essence, the
opportunity to gain stock in a business can be a valuable investment if the market perception is
ultimately wrong. On the other hand, the dynamics of market value is often higher for stronger
companies as earning power will inflate the market value than the actual book value. This connection
is important to consider as a company s market value can change on any given day versus the book
value. There will be

Reasons to Dream
Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you ll land among the stars, said Les Brown. Throughout the
dream unit we have seen lots of videos of people who have achieved their dreams. But also of some
people who didn t achieve their dreams after they worked for it. But they ended up in the stars and
were happy with what they did achieve. But just because some people don t always achieve their
dream doesn t mean everyone can t there s a chance to achieve the dreams. But if we don t we can still
end up with part of the dreams or still achieve something.
So if we dream we ll have a bigger chance of achieving the dreams then we do when we re not even
trying to make it come true. Because if people have a dream and work towards it ... Show more

They would have a bigger chance of achieving their dream if they work towards their dream. In The
Running Dream, Jessica loves to run and she runs so much like her life depended on it. But Jessica
loses her leg in a car crash. When she finds out that she will never be able to run again she becomes
depressed but soon again tries her hardest to run soon. Soon she gets a robotic leg and learns to run
again and Jessica helps a new friend of hers who has always been in a wheelchair her whole life pass
the finish line on a 10 mile race. So if we can dream and work for it to come true then we have a
bigger chance of it coming true then we do when we don t even try working for it.
Although lots of people s dreams do come true. Lots more people work for their dreams but they don t

College Writing Course Analysis
To future College Writing students, I ll be honest, I was not looking forward to taking College Writing
I. That s probably why I waited until my junior year to take this course. I absolutely hate writing
papers and after 4 semesters of writing lab reports for my chemistry classes like organic chemistry and
general chemistry, I didn t see why I had to take this class. I already took English classes for four
years in high school. However, I m grateful that I took this class and that I will be taking College
Writing II next semester. I believe that I ve grown as a writer and I can t wait to learn more in College

WP#4 was probably the most enjoyable assignment to do because I was able to research a topic that I
was interested in and give my input on that topic. Throughout this class, there have been many class
discussions. Those class discussion taught me a lot of valuable information and helped a lot when I
was confused about topic or an assignment. A majority of the time class discussions cleared up a lot of
things for me but if I was ever still confused, the textbook was a great resource to use as well. In this
class, we do a lot of peer reviews and I m so grateful we did. Whenever I write my first draft of a
paper, I always think it s free of errors. My first drafts were not as perfect as I thought and I always
found out through peer reviews. Having my peers review my work was so beneficial because they
always were honest with the review and gave helpful feedback. Within this portfolio, you will find all
of my writing projects. Honestly I couldn t just choose one because I feel like each one shows my
strengths and weakness as a writer. I m hoping that when you go through my portfolio you can see
how I have progressed as a writer this semester. I m not an amazing writer yet, but I definitely believe
that I m on my way becoming an amazing writer. I m also I m including one homework assignment

volatile when compared to the market and can be categorized as a low risk stock. To determine that
financial impact of changes in economic conditions to the performance McDonalds, three economic
indicators must be evaluated. The leading economic index (LEI), coincident economic index (CEI),

A new chain could provide McDonalds with some competition, but with McDonalds place in the
market we believe the chances of that occurring are low. Supplier power will remain the same (1.5) as
new suppliers and cheaper methods of supply are likely over the next few years. The buyer power will
also remain low (1.5) as we do not foresee any changes in McDonalds already cheap prices. We do
believe the threat of substitutes will rise (4.5). There is heavy pressure on healthy foods and we only
believe that will rise. Healthy options will be advertised more and people will continue to push
healthier eating. The rivalry of the industry will remain high (4.5). This will rise as the threat of new
companies and new companies trying to be healthier than the competition. McDonalds is everywhere,
and will remain so over the next few years, pushing its overall advantages even higher. The ROIC is
used to assess McDonalds efficiency at allocating the capital under their control to profitable
investments. Additionally we can examine the ROIC to see how McDonalds is doing compared to the
industry. Over the companies past fiscal year, McDonalds had an ROIC of 21.49% and a WACC of
6.51%. We can compare this to the industry average ROIC of 22.59% and the industry average WACC
of 7.49%. In briefly comparing both spreads it does not show McDonald s having a competitive
advantage in the industry, as the spreads are nearly

Hopelessness of the Irish in Nineteenth Century England...
Hopelessness of the Irish in Nineteenth Century England
Throughout my research into the subject of the Irish in England s industrial north during the early
nineteenth century, one fact became quite clear; contemporary writers treatment of the Irish was both
minimal and negative. I consulted many sources, Friedrich Engels, Leon Faucher, James Kay
Shuttleworth to name but a few and the reoccurring theme as pertaining to the Irish in all these works
was mainly consistent; the Irish were a lazy, vulgar people prone to drinking and brawling.
It was not until 1841 that Great Britain s government made its first attempt to count the number of
Irish migrants in the Census of 1841. Data compiled from the actual census and other ... Show more

These changes diminished the amount of industrial labour available for harvesting purposes in
England, and increased the field of employment for the Irish harvesters. 1.
He continues, stating that the Irish were represented throughout most of the agricultural districts of
England but for purposes of this report, his comments on those in Lancashire county are important to
note;
The harvesters landing at Liverpool seem to have spread across the country from Lancashire to
Lincolnshire,...Their employment in Lancashire calls for no explanation: in the middle of the century
they were regarded as indispensable there through the scarcity of English agricultural labour. 2.
Although welcome by the English farmers as a surplus pool of cheap, temporary labour, the English
harvesters still in existence were not quite as pleased. Most Irish were willing to work for much lower
wages than their English counterparts and thus were blamed for driving down the wages of all. In
defense of the Irish, even the lowest wages offered in England represented a higher standard of living
to them than that they experienced back home. Thus, most Irish were willing to work for what the
English considered starvation wages. Although this led to some riots between the Irish and English
harvesters, it had the added effect of motivating many English to

Limiting The Speed Of The Vehicles Running On The Road
Chapter 1
Project Introduction 1.1 Problem Summary
The project is for limiting the speed of the vehicles running on the road. In day to day life people ride
their vehicles at very high speed without caring for the speed limit fixed by the government for the
particular road on which they are travelling. This gives rise to huge number of accidents. The whole
control system consists of frequency receiver, speed sensing element, microcontroller and some
modification in wiring with relay which is described above. On every road, some speed limit is
already decided by the government which should be strictly followed by the vehicle s driver. The
limited speeds may be 20 kilometer per hour, 40 kilometer per hour, 60 kilometer per hour, 80
kilometer per hour or any other speed limit. The number of speeds to be limited may be any as per
government decision. For every speed limit an unique frequency will be allotted. The frequency
transmitters will be placed at certain interval of distance so that the whole road is covered with the
frequency being transmitted and the circuit can receive the frequency.
Suppose the maximum speed allowed on the road is X kilometer per hour then on this road F1
frequency will be transmitted. Whenever the frequency receiver receives this F1 frequency, then it will
send a signal to the microcontroller and this signal will be compared with the signal received from the
speed sensing element which shows the speed of the vehicle. Suppose the signal from speed

Norse Mythology compare/contrasting This has to do with play and the story. It involves building a
wall around Asgard. There are similar and different aspects between the two of them. There will be

For example, in both versions Loki saved the world from darkness and saved Freya. In both versions
the mason had a horse that did the work of building the wall and at the end Loki became a horse to
deceive him. Another similarity involved the giant asking for Freya and the moon and sun for payment
for building the wall but only if it was completed in a certain time frame. In both versions Odin didn t

Reactive Health Care System
There is much debate as to whether a preventative health care is more effective and economical than a
reactive health care system. Studies do not provide substantial evidence that preventative health care
has the power to lengthen the lives of people and reduce the amount of money spent on treatment for
cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases.
Americans are being diagnosed with chronic diseases as a result of smoking and obesity. Smoking and
obesity place great amounts of stress on the respiratory and cardiovascular systems. The article titled
Trust for America s Health reveals that Obesity costs the country $147 billion and tobacco use $96
billion in direct healthcare costs each year (1). In 1980, a Multiple Risk Factor Intervention Trial was
conducted using a random sample of 12,866 men. The men were separated into groups and, according

that received intervention showed a 12 percent decrease in blood pressure, 50% decrease in smoking,
and a 5% decrease in cholesterol. These are common risk factors that are associated with obesity and
smoking. However, the control group also showed decreases by approximately half of what the
treatment group showed. This caused questions to arise because even though they did not receive
treatment, the risk factors still decreased. This means that the treatment did not have a very significant
effect in benefiting the health of people. The health care costs of obesity and smoking added together

Tennis Ball Investigation
The question I will be testing is, how does the temperature of a tennis ball affect how high it bounces?
Why does this matter? Well it matters because you will know how to get the best results in playing a
tennis match, and instead of wasting a bunch of tennis balls, you will understand why it will bounce
high in some locations and not others instead of thinking you have a bad ball. Plus, when you are
playing a match, you will know how to adjust the amount of force you use on the ball and how you
play the game. Also, this can relate to many other things besides tennis balls. For example, you can
use this in day to day situations, such as the air in your tires. My hypothesis states: if a tennis ball is
colder, then it will have a lower bounce height because the molecules inside will not expand as much
as a hotter climate would, causing the ball to bounce ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The majority of people took three tennis balls and put one in the refrigerator, one in room temperature,
and one wrapped in a heating pad. The next step they followed, after waiting awhile for the tennis
balls to attain the temperature, was that they used a table or a piece of furniture to drop each tennis
ball from so that it was fair/accurate each time. Then they recorded these numbers and did this for
many trials. Others did something slightly different. They used four tennis balls, each going in a
different place. They used different temperatures for three of them, which is what most people did, but
then they put the remaining tennis ball into the same warm climate as one of the other balls but, with
no moisture around it. I found this interesting because I forgot that moisture could have an affect on
the bounce height too. Materials that were used for most of these experiments were very simple. Most
of the people used a ruler, tennis balls, a refrigerator, a house/building for room temperature, and a

Altruism Over Incentives For Organ Donation Essay
Altruism Over Incentives for Organ Donation
Over the years, organ donation challenges and demands increased inversely in proportion to the organ
shortages. The primary mission of donor s organizations is to save as many terminally ill recipients at
the end stages of their lives as possible with an end goal of giving these recipients a normal a life span.
The significance of organ donation is to restore an ailing person s quality of life. The ongoing issue of
organ shortages may be a symptom of the current program that present an idealistic portrait of how
these issues may be resolved. As a result, the mission and ultimate goal of organizations such as
UNOS and Donate Life America, among others, is to obtain viable organs for their patients and to
promote; education, empower altruism and establish quality ethics, and act as a resource for existing
and potential donors.
Organ donations can be controversial in the minds of potential organ donors due to inhumane activity,
dehumanizing processes, or even the circulation of illegal revenue. Conceptual changes need to be
made consistent with altruism in order to produce the desired outcome of increasing the availability of
desperately needed organs and tissues. Groups such as the mentioned above can act as a resource and
clearinghouse mainly focusing on patient s needs. Organdonor.gov is ran by the Federal Health
Resources Services Administration and can act as ballast providing information geared toward donors

Essay On Theological Reflection
Theological Reflections
Ï– Evaluate: Relate the effects of the event on yourself and others involved; describe emotions or
images the experience evoked; identify the heart of the matter what issue or question is raised/is at
stake for you?
To describe my emotions as the experience evoked. I was anxious about who will be the speaker for
the Youth Group. The conflict between pastor Kevin. The question that I ve asked myself was am I not
good enough? but as I was talking to him, he did express the trust that he had in me. But to describe
my role is pastor apprentice, I did understand my role and responsibility as pastor apprentice but the
heart of matter was to submit to the authority, which I have clearly stated to Pastor Kevin that I will
submit to both him and senior pastor s decision.
The issue was raised when I was struggling to understand why pastor Kevin did not ask me as the
speaker of summer retreat. I was hurt by the fact that I ve heard from the one of Sunday school
teacher, not directly from him. I ve respectfully asked him for one on one meeting to discuss the
following issue. My anxiety would be high at stake, I could have been depressed by the decision made
by pastor Kevin, just like in the winter retreat, I would be struggling of my identity as a pastor, I
would ask myself again if I am good enough to be a pastor, but pastor Kevin explained clearly of what
my role was, its not always about speaking front of people but learn to serve behind the scene. Ï–

In this situation, I was disturbed by the fact that I was hearing things from a teacher but not from my
supervisor. It was frustrating for me to hear the news that he is thinking of speaker from the outside
the church, without even asking me to be a speaker for Youth Group. I was convicted of my pride
toward my supervisor. Who am I to decide the speaker for the retreat? I was just an intern who is
getting supervised. I felt like I was falling apart as a leader. This could be interpreting as my own
greed. I am pretty sure there are pastors that are ready to speak right away if they ve received the
invitation to speak front of people. I explore myself through this situation that I still have a lot to
improve. I ve actually recorded my

The Importance Of War In Poems
Good morning class, this morning/ afternoon I will be discussing how war is represented within
society and how text structures and stylistic devices help to emphasise war within poems. I will be
reading and analysing the poems Perhaps by Vera Brittain in 1919 and In Flanders Fields by John
McRae in 1915.
Perhaps and In Flanders Fields are both a Lyric poem and are about the feelings of grief and sorrow
for loved ones lost in war. Perhaps was written by V. Brittain in response to the death of her late fiancé
Roland Aubrey Leighton, who was killed at the age of 20 by a sniper in 1915, only four months after
she had accepted his marriage proposal. In Flanders Fields was written by J.McRae in response to the
death of his friend and fellow soldier Lieutenant Alexis Helmer killed In action on the 2nd of May
1915. The theme of these poems is loss. This theme is explored through the poet s use of tone and
mood, the poetic techniques used and the social comment the poem makes. Each of these will be
discussed in detail today.
The theme of perhaps is emphasised through the tone and mood of the poem. The moods of the poem
are sadness and grief. This is created through the use of repetition, enjambment and alternate rhyme.
Thought the poem Brittian uses repetition in the form of the words perhaps and although to emphasis
the fact that although her fiancé has passed, perhaps she will find happens again. Enjambment
followed by a pause is used at the end of the poem in the lines

The Innocence Of Crime In America

country is in the 78 th ranking of the countries with the highest crime rates. People may think that
just by being in the 78 th place means it isn t that dangerous in it, but as for the people who
occupy our country we know how dangerous it is. Crime can happen anywhere even if you are
just coming home from the super market. The people are scared and are very conscious of what
is happening. Everyday in the news there are stories about crimes, killing, drugs, snatching and
others.

Many people have already suffered from criminals. Some people may have already lost

themselves on the hands of these criminals. After experiencing these events we cannot help if
they feel hatred for criminals for doing all these, however wouldn t that make us the same as
them if we just kill even just if we suspect them?
In my opinion we should at least think of their side or at least give them the right to prove
they are innocent. We may think of criminals as if they are not humans, but are we also humans
if we can kill them without even hearing them out and just walk away without batting an eye?
I am not fully in favor of extra judicial killing, because it is not justified if we just kill
even in mere suspicion it is not right just to kill someone suddenly we should is not right just to

5 Steps to Increase CRO in Enterprise eCommerce
5 Steps to Increase CRO in Enterprise eCommerce
Improving conversion rate optimization, or CRO, ranks as one of the best strategies for generating
eCommerce revenue. The basics of eCommerce CRO in B2B markets rely on treating the process as a
journey instead of as a destination it s an ongoing process that requires gathering data, testing platform
features and analyzing the results. Each visitor to a B2B platform generates valuable data, and it s
critical not to waste this resource because it costs far less to increase CRO rates than it does to target
and land new clients. Following B2B best practices for conversions involves setting up automatic
intelligence gathering, testing the results to maximize conversion rates and feeding the improvement
process so that it evolves continuously as trends and customer habits change.
About 73 percent of online stores don t understand why customers abandon their websites and
shopping carts.[1] Businesses only spend an average of about $1 out of each $92 converting customers
while using the rest to acquire new business.[2] However, the top performing companies spend more
than 5 percent of their budgets on improving conversion rate optimization. In business to business
sales, inbound marketing conversions are even more critical due to the longer sales and approval
process. Best practices for B2B organizations include integrating intelligence gathering from multiple
data sources, testing

Analysis Of Rocket Boys By Homer Hadley Hickam Jr.
In the book Rocket Boys created by Homer Hadley Hickam Jr. John Hickam is a man that works in

  • 2. The Carbon Of Arctic Reservoirs Vulnerability Experiment The Carbon in Arctic Reservoirs Vulnerability Experiment (CARVE) is a multi year mission conducted by NASA to obtain detailed calculations of greenhouse gas emissions, such as carbon dioxide and methane from thawing permafrost by probing deep into the frozen landscape of Alaska. For the first time, NASA scientists have been accurately recording these emission sources and rates using highly sensitive airborne sensors mounted on NASA government aircraft. NASA scientists expect to make unprecedented accurate estimates of the extent of Arctic carbon cycling impacts to the Arctic atmosphere and the local Alaskan ecology. The data results of this mission will help both NASA and global scientists better understand how the estimated rate of greenhouse gas emissions affect the rise in temperature and potential impact of Earth s future climate near and long term. The CARVE mission goals intend to answer important questions about Earth climate change. Ultimately, CARVE will provide an integrated set of data that will provide unprecedented experimental insights into Arctic carbon cycling. Over the last several decades, climatologists have found that Arctic regions, in particular, have been affected most ecologically, for overall global increased temperature changes resulting from greenhouse gas emissions. Landscapes in the Arctic have change dramatically over the last decade alone. As tundra has thawed earlier than seasonally normal, and Arctic ice has melted in oceans year around ... • 3. A Covenant Of The Common Law Rule Critically, a release takes effect immediately. Id. As a consequence, a release immediately discharges any obligation within its scope. Id. Accordingly, because a release has the effect of immediately discharging an obligation, the release is tendered at the time the release is given. Therefore, a release cannot be breached because complete performance is rendered at the moment release is effectuated. In some instances again, generally in the context of joint tortfeasors the common law rule that a release had the effect of discharging an obligation rather than an obligor was perceived to apply too harshly when an obligee gave a release with an obvious intent to only discharge one but not all obligors. Shriver, supra, 155 Md. at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Contrary to a release, a covenant not to sue did not have the effect of discharging an obligation, but rather it was a promise made by the obligee to refrain from enforcing the obligation. This distinction permitted a plaintiff to reach a settlement with one joint tortfeasor without discharging the obligation with respect to the remaining obligors. This concept is reflected in the Restatement (Second) of Contracts, which defines a contract not to sue as a contract under which the obligee of a duty promises never to sue the obligor or a third person to enforce the duty or not to do so for a limited time. Restatement (Second) of Contracts § 285. The material distinction between a release and a covenant not to sue is that a release is an immediate discharge, and performance is complete at the time the release is effectuated. A covenant not to sue, on the other hand, is a promise for the maker to undertake some future performance. Stated differently, [d]ischarge by release . . . has long been regarded as an executed transaction rather than an executory promise whereas a covenant not to sue . . . was treated as an executory promise. Restatement (Second) of Contracts § 295 cmt. a. For this reason, a lawsuit on claims ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Financial Crisis Of 2008 The world before the financial crisis of 2008 had stability. Iceland in 2000 was viewed as the perfect place to live and have your family grow. Iceland had clean energy, high standard of living, jobs, and low government debt. Iceland was a place were children played and parents laughed and enjoyed their life. Everyone lived well; Iceland was the role model of finance, until it all melted away. Iceland let giant corporations come into its territory and exploit its geothermal and hydroelectric resources and its banks became so large to where their banks became larger than their economy, impossible to bail out. This created a toxic situation where people took out a mortgage loan, with a high rate, could not pay it back creating a bubble to where the investment banks had no one else to lend to, and needed to be bailed out. Banks became rich and borrowed heavily to create more loans to create more short term money that became the big investment banks bonuses. This created a global panzi scheme. The problem is deregulation. The definition of deregulation is the elimination of government power with in an industry. In this case banks and financial institutions of the world. Deregulation could be seen as greed, big corporations, monopolies, where the rich get richer. Deregulation is the cause of the financial crisis of 2008. Deregulation means no one is watching over the banks and CEO is saying no and stopping the gambling of people s savings. The 2008 economy got to the point of a financial crisis due to speculation of savings, investor banks went public and in turn turned Wall Street became rich. Financial deregulation made for risky investments and looting companies. An example of this is the merger of two big insurance companies Travelers and Citigroup in the 1990 has violated the Glass Stele Act, but was ignored for a whole year by the SEC. • 5. Euthyphro Paradox Essay Jeremy Jones Professor Edwards Philosophy 102 4 December 2015 The Euthyphro Paradox Socrates is said to be one of the wisest man who ever lived. Even in the book, The Trial and Death of Socrates, the Oracle of Delphi even said that no man is wiser than Socrates. Although that statement in itself can be dissected and analyzed, the main focus at hand is that of line 10a of the Euthyphro. In this passage, Socrates presents to Euthyphro what is known even to this day as the Euthyphro Paradox . For someone unfamiliar with the current situation in the Euthyphro, it is probably best to summarize and explained this particular passage. Not only will explaining the dialogue shed light to the passage but it will also help explain the Euthyphro Paradox. To begin with, Euthyphro and Socrates both meet each other in Athens in front of the court house. They ended up starting a conversation. They come to learn why the other is there. Euthyphro is there because he is convicting his father for murdering one of his servants. Socrates is there because Meletus is convicting him for being impious and corrupting the youth. Socrates begins by questioning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Socrates than decides to ask Euthyphro if he knows what being pious means. Euthyphro answers by saying that piety is his actions. This means in a sense that by convicting his father of murder he is being pious. However Socrates is not satisfied with Euthyphro s answer because this is an example of being pious and not the definition. To Socrates, Euthyphro seems to understand the difference between being pious and impious because he knows that murder is wrong. So he then asks, Is the pious being loved by the gods because it is pious, or is it pious because it is being loved by the gods (Grube 11)? Essentially another way of saying this would be, God loves something because it is good or Something is good because it is loved by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are a series of events that occur which demonstrate how abusing power can result in catastrophic consequences which affect both individuals and communities. Characters Frank, Julian, Wes, and the whole white community abused their capabilities which resulted in negative outcomes. Local doctor Frank Hayden is one of the many people in the Bentrock community to overstep his power and mistreat it. What makes Julian and Wes different is that Wes learns that justice is more important in a society than loyalty. By believing in this, his abuse of power has had lesser consequences but they are still significant in the novel. Wes is responsible for the Frank s arrest which later on caused severe family tension. But the important consequence is that Wes didn t going to treat his brother the same as any other criminal that he d pass in his job. Instead of jailing Frank in the town jail, Wes finds his own basement as the most suitable option. In practicality, prisoning Frank in a basement is not the best or safest option, especially for the people who live above that basement. If Wes fully lived by his responsibilities and promise to justice, he would have arrested Frank in the professional matter he does with anyone else under arrest. (2004) is how horned lizards used their horns to protect themselves from predators and how selection favors the length of their horns (Young et. al. 2004). The thing that the researchers wanted to test is if the length of the horns made an impact on the survivability of the horned lizards (Young et. al. (2004)). They tested this by measuring the length of the horned lizards from a group of living lizards and skulls of the deceased (Young et. al. 2004). The points Agosta et. al. 2004 thought that Young et. al. addressed was evidence that selection has occurred on the trait in question (Young et. al. 2004). An example of this would be when Young et. al. talked about how the horned lizards with the shorter length were least favored by selection therefore lizards with longer horns would have greater fitness (Young et. al. 2004). On the other hand, according to Agosta et. al. claim that Young et. al. failed to present three major points. The three major points are the existence of a functional explanation for putative fitness differences associated with the trait , evidence for heritability of phenotype differences corresponding to trait variation , and knowledge of phylogeny such that putative adaptations can be shown to have originated in selective regimes in which they are currently advantageous (Agosta et. al. 2004). • 10. Waiting for the Barbarians by J.M. Coetzee Essay In J.M. Coetzee s novel Waiting for the Barbarians, the Magistrate comes to discover the humanity of the barbarian through his interactions with the blind girl, which eventually leads him to learn about the nature of his own humanity. Although the Magistrate is more lenient on the Barbarians than Colonel Joll, he still unknowingly objectifies them, while placing himself above them. It is only when he is imprisoned that he comes to realize the fragility of his own humanity. Ultimately Coetzee uses the magistrate s journey from empirical leader to broken and fearful prisoner to express that peace and stability between people can only be obtained when all humanity is valued. The magistrate states This body in my bed, for which I am responsible, or so it seems, otherwise why do I keep it? For the time being, perhaps forever, I am simply bewildered. It seems all one whether I lie down beside her and fall asleep or fold her in a sheet and bury her in the snow. Nevertheless, bending over her, touching my fingertips to her forehead, I am careful not to spill the wax. (43) Here, the magistrate simply refers to the girl as a body, not as a living human. He claims that he is responsible for her, showing that he sees her as a possession. He even refers to her as it, which clearly objectifies her. The fact that he wonders why he keeps her shows that her only purpose to him is sexual gratification; other than that she holds no human quality. He says that there would be no difference between lying next to her and burying her in the snow, showing that he has no emotional connection to her. When he is careful not to spill the wax, he is showing some sort of care for her, but only so far as one would care for an object, just as anyone would want to avoid spilling something on an object of some value. The magistrate is able to condemn Joll for his dehumanization of the barbarians, but only because Joll s purpose for the barbarians has to do with the goals of the empire. They are objects who have no value should they fail to meet the empire s needs. For the magistrate, the goals of the empire are not of paramount importance. However, when ... Earlier this year, Merkel was ranked on a second place on the World s 50 Greatest Leaders on Fortune Magazine after Jeff Bezoz, the CEO of Amazon (Colvin). Solar flares occur when magnetic energy is released by the Sun during magnetic storms, which we see as sunspots. In sunspots, the magnetic lines are twisted and they spin, much like a tornado would on Earth. (sun facts, 2012) How the sun began Gravity drew dust and gas together to create the solar system. The sun formed first from the material closely by the planets. Waves of energy traveling through space pressed clouds of such particles closer together, and gravity causes them to collapse in on themselves. As the material drew together, gravity caused it to spin. The spin caused the cloud to flatten into a disk like a pancake. In the centre, the material clumped together to form a protostar that would eventually become the sun. The protostar was a ball of hydrogen and helium not yet powered by fusion. Over the course of 50 million years, the temperature and pressure of the material inside increased, jumpstarting the fusion of hydrogen that drives the sun today. • 14. Technology s Impact On Technology And The Impact Of... The Impact of Technology Computers, laptops, cellphones, and eventually artificial intelligence? Technology has sure been advancing rapidly, and will continue to advance for years to come. Think about all of the tasks that once required a trip to the library that can now easily be done with a computer. Google s search engine, for instance, significantly simplifies research you simply enter what you want, and the engine spews out the relevant information. But the harmful effects are plentiful as well. Nicholas Carr addresses popular concerns in Is Google Making Us Stupid, arguing that technology is molding the human brain into an efficiency prioritizing machine, one less flexible, less artistic than the human mind. Although technology inspires artists and informs authors, it is mostly making people stupid, for it encourages a skimming mentality and cultivates impatience. Before revealing technology s harmful effects, it is important to address its benefits. Proponents of technology argue of its importance in artistic inspiration. For instance, websites like Soundcloud, Youtube, and deviantArt allow users to share accomplishments, and many young artists are guided by the social media of successful artists. While it is true that the internet inspires artists, it is equally true that it limits them creatively. Commercialism creeps throughout the internet community music, art, and film must all be popular enough to make a profit. Many young minds are robbed of their individual ... • 15. Child Obesity Research Essay Child Obesity Having obese children is a problem. The question resumes, why? Are children less active? Are they not eating the right things? Or are they a product of their parents lifestyle? Whatever the answer maybe, we must find it quick. Obesity in children Is becoming an epidemic. And the African American population is leading the way. According to WE Can!, a program of the National Institutes of health 31.7 percent of children between the age of 2 19 years old are overweight or obese. Including an African American population of 35.9 percent. This number is more than the 29.3 percent that represent the White children in the same age category. Following my intital research on Child Obesity, I found a study, by (Young Hyman, Herman, Scott, Schlundt, 1999), examined the care giver perception of children s obesity. The method od this study screen 111 families in a diabetes prevention study. Care givers completed a health awareness questionnaire that assessed their perception of the child s weight, eating habits, appearance, exercise habits, and health risk. Additionally, the care givers gave each participant s family history of obesity, diabetes, and other chronic diseases. The results supported that 44% of the care givers saw their child s weight to be a problem. The substantial number of parents who saw their child s weight as a problem is deveasting. • 16. Being A Clarinet Essay To start off my coat of arms I drew a clarinet in the middle. This clarinet represents something that I want to get better at in the next year. Recently I have started playing clarinet so that I could join Marching Band and Wind Ensemble. I believe that if I keep practicing every day and make a goal for a year from now to be at 2nd clarinet level, I can succeed. My motto is work hard a stay strong, so practicing and believing in myself will help me to be an expert next year. I used the colors red, blue, and green. Green symbolizes balance and growth which I need to complete my goal. Red symbolizes passion and ambition which I believe are two important qualities needed when wanting to get better at something. Blue symbolizes trust and peace. If I stay calm and trust myself I will be able to accomplish many goals, not just learning clarinet. Next, in the top right corner, I drew me saying polite phrases that I use every day. This is the one thing I have learned from somebody else. When I was young, my parents taught me how to be polite and use manners. This skill that I learned from my parents has helped me so much in my lifetime especially when being a guest or speaking to an adult. My motto, work hard and stay strong, applies to this because you can do both those things well with manners, especially if you need help, and can use manners to ask for help. I used the colors orange, yellow, and blue. Blue symbolizes integrity which I possess with the ability to use manners. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Analysis Of Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep By 2021, nuclear war has devastated the planet Earth. It has led to the mass extinction of several species and has prompted electric animal development; it has left entire apartment buildings to just one tenant and has encouraged human connection via the Empathy Box; and it has caused humankind such heartache, that scientists have created the Penfield Mood Organ to regulate emotions. Above all else, however, it has led to isolation. The technological advancements that it has inspired have consumed human s attention and pushed them apart. In Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, Philip K. Dick suggests that human dependence on technology has blurred the boundaries between humans and androids; both are in fact cyborgs hybrid[s] of machine and organism (Haraway, 149). By having his human characters describe such technologies as the Empathy Box, the Penfield Mood Organ, and television as extension[s] of [their] bod[ies] and the absence of them as the absence of life, Dick supports post humanist literary critic Katherine Hayles argument that technology...has become so entwined with the production of identity that it can no longer meaningfully be separated from the human subject and implies that technological inventions have replaced personal interactions (Dick, 66 and 5 / Hayles, xiii). Yet the revelation at the end of the novel that the Empathy Box is fraudulent represents technology s fraudulence. Technology only deceivingly replaces personal interactions; it fails to ... • 18. The Landscape With The Fall Of Icarus Essay The stories of Icarus and Prometheus are two famous Greek myths, having been portrayed in many types of media by various renowned artists like Pieter Bruegel the Elder and Lord George Gordon Byron respectively. The two stories are portrayed in painting and poem form respectively. Both also tell the stories in a different way by emphasizing some points and overshadowing others to illustrate their message. Bruegel uses his lack of focus towards the misfortune of Icarus to illustrate that the suffering or misfortune of one is easily missed or ignored by others, while Byron uses his magnification of Prometheus suffering in order to illustrate that suffering for a righteous cause is noble and good. The way that Bruegel tries to downplay and hide the drowning of Icarus by putting him in the background instead of having Icarus being the main subject in the picture illustrates his message, that suffering and misfortune of other people are often missed and ignored by others. On the other hand, Byron, with his poem, Prometheus , writes about the glorious deeds of Prometheus and how Prometheus is punished unjustly. Byron uses phrases like [a]ll the proud can feel of pain and [o]f thine impenetrable spirit in order to highlight the glorious suffering and perseverance Prometheus (8, 42). The spirit of martyrdom is clearly seen in this poem when Byron puts in his poem and making Death a Victory, as martyrs die for a cause which makes their deaths a victory (59). • 22. The Expectations Of The Weighted Average Cost Of Capital The expectations of the weighted average cost of capital (WACC) varies when using market values of equity versus book value of equity because they are fundamentally different when attempting to analyze a business for investment endeavors. Book value and market value can determine if a stock or business venture is a practical one. Book value is simply the value of a business on its books or sometimes known as the accounting value. In comparison, the market value is determined by market investors and is the more meaningful value because it is the value placed on a stock despite what the book value is. These values can differ considerably and depends of various factors intrinsic to understanding overall value. Industry or sector type, financial strength or confidence of the business to generate profit plays a role in market value where these are not considered in the book value. For example, if the book value is greater than market value, investors will consider the value of the company is worth less in the financial market than what the book value states. In essence, the opportunity to gain stock in a business can be a valuable investment if the market perception is ultimately wrong. On the other hand, the dynamics of market value is often higher for stronger companies as earning power will inflate the market value than the actual book value. This connection is important to consider as a company s market value can change on any given day versus the book value. There will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In day to day life people ride their vehicles at very high speed without caring for the speed limit fixed by the government for the particular road on which they are travelling. This gives rise to huge number of accidents. The whole control system consists of frequency receiver, speed sensing element, microcontroller and some modification in wiring with relay which is described above. On every road, some speed limit is already decided by the government which should be strictly followed by the vehicle s driver. The limited speeds may be 20 kilometer per hour, 40 kilometer per hour, 60 kilometer per hour, 80 kilometer per hour or any other speed limit. The number of speeds to be limited may be any as per government decision. For every speed limit an unique frequency will be allotted. The frequency transmitters will be placed at certain interval of distance so that the whole road is covered with the frequency being transmitted and the circuit can receive the frequency. Suppose the maximum speed allowed on the road is X kilometer per hour then on this road F1 frequency will be transmitted. Whenever the frequency receiver receives this F1 frequency, then it will send a signal to the microcontroller and this signal will be compared with the signal received from the speed sensing element which shows the speed of the vehicle. Plus, when you are playing a match, you will know how to adjust the amount of force you use on the ball and how you play the game. Also, this can relate to many other things besides tennis balls. For example, you can use this in day to day situations, such as the air in your tires. I will be reading and analysing the poems Perhaps by Vera Brittain in 1919 and In Flanders Fields by John McRae in 1915. Perhaps and In Flanders Fields are both a Lyric poem and are about the feelings of grief and sorrow for loved ones lost in war. Perhaps was written by V.
