Essay on Most Famous Work and the People Who Discovered Them

Edward Witten is most known for proving the string theory using a mathematical equation. Werner
Heisenberg s research in 1943 became the base from which the string theory grew from. Yoichiro
Nambu, Holger Bech Nielsen, and Leonard Susskind first had the idea of string theory in 1970, but the
scientific community lost interest quickly. Due to the discovery of quantum chromodynamics, John. H
Schwarz and Joel Scherk where able to study boson (elementary particle) patterns and found that they
acted as strings and that their properties matched graviton (elementary particle). This discovery led to
the bosonic string theory, which was the first string theory that is still taught to students as they are

Witten is also known for his mathematical achievements. Witten was the first physicist ever to win the
Fields medal; one of his more known contributions to the mathematics field was his ability to
understand the Jones polynomial. These are only a few of the countless contributions Witten has made
to science and mathematics.

Mandaean Chapter 4
In Chapter 4, Turning the Tables on Jesus: the Mandaean View , by Jorunn Jacobsen Buckley, states
that studying the descendents of the firsts followers of Jesus, we can have a better understanding of
the social history of the early Christians. The Mandaeans were known as the knower s or Gnostics and
they are the only ones that survived that have a connection to the early Christians. Mandaeans have
their own spoken language and religion with unique ritual practices. In addition, their cultural
traditions come from their literature text. Mandaean ritual s purpose is to control or overcome evil,
which makes them believe that this has saved them from extinction. Mandaean people way of life is
through their religion and history, today we can even find them. Buckley states that evidence suggests
that the Mandaean people may have originated in Palestine during the time of John the Baptist and
Jesus. The Mandeans see themselves as former Judeans from Jerusalem because of traditional
practices. The most important evidence is the linguistic evidence and historical legend in some of
Christian text; for example, the Characene scripts, were the Mandaic languages appears. Although

Buckley uses the Haran Gawaita, a collection of myths, traditions and history as evidence to support
of the idea that Mandaeans were in contact in some kind form with early Christianity. Although the
text is preserved poorly because some parts broken off. In the Haran Gawaita text states that Ardban
King of Persia was a savior of the Mandaeans. Buckley uses the Haran Gawaita and history to prove
which of the five kings were mention in the text, which proves the timeline and location the Haran
Gawaita text refers to. In the text there is version of how the Mandaean people emigrated from

The Role Of Islam In Turkey
Islam has been a dominant force throughout Turkish history. During the Ottoman Empire, Islam ruled
every part of the theocratic state, but after the demise of the empire, Turkey s rulers led the country
away from political Islam. The modern Turkish state has a strictly secular government, and Islam has
been relegated to the personal sphere. Although Turkey has experienced a rise in fundamentalism in
the past twenty years, the separation of church and state has remained relatively intact. Even with this
increase of fundamentalist Islam, the wide majority of Muslims in Turkey are moderate and tolerant.
They have adapted to modern life and value Islam for its moral and spiritual messages. Islam is a

To counteract this growing influence, the Ottomans appointed a rival Sufi group, the Bektasi, to

Ottomans to consolidate their empire.? They revived the Islamic title of caliph and based the
legitimacy of their rule in Islam.? Religion was integrated into every aspect of life.? Although the

They also allowed non Muslims to be self governing groups known as millets (?nations?).? The

The Effects of Drinking and Smoking While Pregnant Essay
The Effects of Drinking and Smoking While Pregnant
The most disgusting thing in this world in my opinion, is when a pregnant woman
drinks or smokes. Women who drink during their pregnancy don t know that alcohol
can fatally harm the unborn baby. Most of these women drink during their pregnancy
with out any knowledge of the consequences. An estimated 40,000 babies are born each
year in the United States with alcohol related birth defects. The actual figures may be
higher. (Poisoned in the womb, p.53) The baby can be born with a lot of different kinds
of birth defects. Women, who drink very heavily during their pregnancy, have babies
that are born with Fetus Alcohol Syndrome.

It is very hard to feed them. Their
brain development is very slow. Parents who were expected to have a laughing and
healthy baby, become disappointed. The difficulties to care for these babies lead to
neglect or abuse.
?Family stresses, including those related to alcohol abuse, may lead to abuse and
neglect and further add to the problems of the affected children.? (Poisoned in the womb,
p. 540) Parents get mentally frustrated and physically tired of taking care of the baby.
There are more fights and arguments going on in these families. The parents will turn to
alcohol to escape the problems of their world. The baby will be neglected and abused
and that will create even more problems for the baby and the parents. ?Children of
alcoholics are three times more likely to be expelled from school, or drop out, get in
trouble or attempt a suicide? (Poisoned in the womb, p.50)
?Fetus alcohol Syndrome is a life long impairment for the children effected. Early identification and
intervention can help to improve the overall functioning level of the child by maximizing strengths
and preventing social and emotional problems. Many of the affected children, perhaps most of the
affected children, however, are not receiving needed services at an early age.? (Poisoned in the womb,
p. 50)
Affected babies will need parents that would be kind, strong and will have enough
patience to take care of them. These

The Decline Of Electoral Participation Among Young Canadians
The Decline of Electoral Participation Among Young Canadians Since a robust voter turnout is
instrumental to the functioning of a healthy democracy, the ongoing decline of youth voter turnout in
Canada is highly alarming. According to the Canadian Election Study, the reported voter turnout
among Canadians aged 18 to 24 dropped from 83 percent in 1974 to 60 percent in 2000 (Barnes and
Virgint, 2010). The aim of this paper is to explain this decline. While it is generally accepted that
people s propensity to vote increases as they age in their life cycle , it does not provide an adequate
explanation for the decline of voter turnout among young Canadians. This paper argues that the
decline of youth electoral participation in Canada is, by and large, generational in nature it can be
attributed by the underlying characteristics of the youth generation. Young Canadians are more
apathetic towards the political process, have a lower level of political knowledge, and view voting as
less of a moral obligation than older Canadians and young Canadians in past generations. For the
purposes of this paper, young Canadians will be defined broadly as the cohort of Canadians aged 18 to
27. The paper will first briefly explain why a declining youth turnout is problematic to Canadian
democracy. It will then refute two prevalent explanations to the decline of the Canadian youth voter
turnout that emphasize the role of political cynicism and political parties. Last, it will provide three

The purpose of this paper will be the battle analysis and evaluation of Operation Fortitude (code name

Normandy and invasion of German occupied France). The analysis and evaluation will be done using
the intellectual standards and the elements of reasoning to provide an alternate outcome for Operation

defeat of the Allies (United States, Canada and Great Britain) at Normandy. Central to the success of
Operation Overlord, was the successful execution of Operation Fortitude. Before understanding

Essay On The Devil s Arithmetic
The Devil s Arithmetic is gripping book that grabs hold of you and doesn t let go. It is a book to helps
children of this generation remember the horror the Nazis caused. It is important for us to remember
the past. We should always try to remember. This book is to remember the chilling tale furthermore. In
November 1988 Jane Yolen wrote and published The Devil s Arithmetic. The book soon grew to be
popular and they soon made a movie. It released on March 28 1999 it gave the story of Chaya just as
horrific. The tale goes like this. Hannah (soon to be Chaya) is tired of hearing about her religion s
past. She and her family will soon be getting together to celebrate passover. While she is celebrating
she drinks too much wine. She then has a supernatural experience that takes her to Poland in 1941.
She is in house with some new family that believed for some reason that she is from Lublin and her
parents are dead and she is very sick.. Her family treats her being dysfunctional like nothing. Hannah
has to change into a new dress for a wedding. The wedding is taking place in town, which they have to
walk to, the husband and wife are supposedly going to be married soon, but the Nazis soon put a stop.
While celebrating, they intervene with the Nazis. The Nazis then force them to climb into
transportation at a very rapid pace. The new Jews that Hannah had just meant cram into the vehicles.

and that is we should remember. The movie and the book talk all about remembering. Therefore since

Risks of Just in Time Inventory Systems Essay
The Risks of Being Just In Time
The following is a guest article written by Nick Koletic, an economics specialist at UCLA. In addition
to giving a brief background on Just In Time inventory system s benefits, the article s main focus is
the risks that JIT systems face.
Just In Time inventory (JIT) is part of a production system whereby a firm vastly reduces inventory
from its production processes so that utilization of production inputs and delivery of finished products
are accomplished without incurring significant holding costs. While JIT inventory systems are quite
attractive for this reason, they are a double edged sword. And though a JIT system might even be a
necessity given the inventory demands of certain business types, ... Show more content on

Shipping the same quantity of a product to different retail outlets, for example, might not make much
sense if the demand for that good is significantly greater at one location relative to another. This
approach to delivery cost savings also facilitates decreases in aforementioned holding costs by not
overstocking certain locations with a product. The same principle holds for inputs in production; parts
are not delivered and held at production centers where they might lay idle.
Some positive externalities may also result from a firm s decision to implement a JIT system.
Suppliers of such a firm, for example, might then be able handle larger orders but fulfill them with
smaller shipments. That is to say that for any given order size, supplying a customer that utilizes JIT is
typically easier to do because individual shipments tend to be smaller for these customers and thus
tend to be less demanding of the supplier. So it might be possible for suppliers, merely by the nature of
their customers JIT system, to greatly expand their ability to fill larger orders without having to
increase production capacity.
Several factors, however, make JIT systems a risky proposition. A key concern here is the extent to
which firms are dependent upon particular suppliers under such an inventory system. For example, if a
firm were to commission a highly proprietary product to a single supplier (single suppliers being
common in JIT), a JIT

Second Great Awakening Analysis
The Second Great Awakening was a Protestant revival movement during the early 19th century in the
United States. It enrolled millions of new members in existing evangelical denominations and led to
the formation of new denominations. Many converts believed that the Awakening heralded a new
millennial age. The Second Great Awakening stimulated the establishment of many reform movements
by a sort of domino effect of inspiration as one movement started, it encouraged the initiation of
another. A lot of these movements were composed and sought out during camp meetings on religious
revival during the 1800 s to get a gathering of passionate on goers to share and discuss their beliefs to
restore their interest and devotion to their faith, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The camp meeting was a religious service of several days length with preachers. Settlers in thinly
populated areas gathered at the camp meeting for fellowship as well as worship. (Lambert, 2013) The
sheer exhilaration of participating in a religious revival with crowds of hundreds and perhaps
thousands of people inspired the dancing, shouting, and singing associated with these events. Upon
their return home, most converts joined or created small local churches, which grew rapidly. The
Second Great Awakening marked a religious transition in society in America. Many Americans from
the Calvinist sect emphasized man s inability to save themselves and their only way to be saved was
from grace from God. (Independence Hall Association in Philadelphia, 2014) The Second Great
Awakening caused a more of a lasting change on American society than any other religious revival.
One of the major ideas of the Second Great Awakening was that people could perfect themselves. The
Second Great Awakening put forward the idea that people could work to achieve their own salvation.
It also was based on the idea that revivalist preachers could go around spreading the word and thereby
help people to improve. These

Democratic Ideals DBQ
Between the years 1825 and 1850, the US underwent a series of social and political reforms which
attempted to democratize American life. The Age of Jackson was a time of tremendous reform with
American society and politics. Andrew Jackson s position as president lasted from 1829 1837,
therefore the fact that many writers and historians have attached his name to the time period between
1820 and 1850 indicates the high importance of his spirit of the reform. During this period, known as
Jacksonian Democracy, social and political reform movements and equal rights dominated the
American landscape. Many of these reforms were supported by religious ideals over democratic
system, but in this period the democratic ideals in America came to greater results than ever before.
The impact of the reforms that happened during the Jacksonian Era had strong political foundations.
Before the 19th century, women had no rights to vote and only white males that had sufficient
property could. However, at the start of year 1815, many states have accepted white, property less
males the right to vote. All states, but one, continued following this trend up to the year 1850. The
effect was an influx of popular candidates into local and national positions. More importantly, Jackson
was elected President in 1828, after losing the election in 1824 known as corrupt bargain of 1824 . He

The Attack Of Japan s Attack On Pearl Harbor
Japan joined the Axis Powers in 1940,which consisted of Germany, Japan, and Italy. They believed
that they were the superior race of the world and would win the war with the alliance of the Axis
Powers. Japan had held resentment towards the United States after an embargo was placed on Japan
for taking over northern French Indochina. When Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, they wanted to defeat
the U.S. Navy so that they could advance to Malaysia. However, Japan attacked the base knowing that
Japan is closer to Pearl Harbor than the United States. If they attacked the mainland, the United States
naval fleet would have followed them back to Japan. After thousands of American soldiers died, the
American Air Force bombed Tokyo and resulted in the ill treatment of Japanese Americans, and
Japanese citizens.
Preceding the Tokyo Fire Bombings, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. Prior to the attack, the United

Zephyr In Greek Mythology
Language is a pivotal part of the foundation on which we have built society. Everyday people
everywhere speak and hear thousands and millions of words. Although we use them so much, many
people don t know where most of these words originated. More often than not, a word evolves into its
current form from a similar word in an ancient culture. Many of the words we use now have evolved
from Greek culture and Greek mythology; such words can be found in everyday language, medical
terms, and even hidden in company and product names.
The words zephyr, echo and narcissism are all very common words, and many people do not know
they all actually originate from Greek myth. A zephyr in today s definition is a soft or gentle breeze,
however, in Greek myth, Zephyr was the West Wind. An echo is a sound that is a repetition of another
sound, the result of sound waves bouncing off of a surface like a wall. However, as told by Edith
Hamilton, Echo was a nymph cursed by Hera to only be able to repeat things someone else says first.

Crisis Management Plan Essay
Crisis Management Plan For Etihad Airways
Crisis management is an integral part of any company s strategic planning not only to prepare but also
to mitigate the effects of a crisis on business continuity. In this discussion, I will design a crisis
communication plan for Etihad Airways, which is the company that I work for, eight years now. It is
the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, and it is based in Abu Dhabi; it is just 12 years old,
and it only operates international routes. Etihad is a government owned company; however,
organizational wise, it is a semi governmental entity (Etihad Airways, 2015).
Etihad s crisis management team consists of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. James Hogan; he will
serve as the crisis management team president and the spokesperson of Etihad to the media. Under the
president operates a public relation manager, Mr. Kevin Knight, he is a member of our executive team
and serves as Chief Strategy and Planning Officer; he is also the second ... Show more content on

It is a continuous process of decision making and weighting and thinking of the consequences of each
and every move not only in the immediate future but also for the development strategy and business
continuity. Etihad needs to communicate to their internal publics with a shared sense of responsibility
and unity and their external audiences with confirmation on the public safety. Pre assigned tasks, a
reference source, and well delegated duties can minimize confusion in times of crisis.
Having crisis communication plan makes addressing the publics (internally and externally) a
consistent, accurate, and quick process that allows the PR team to communicate, investigate, organize,
and anticipate rather than just

The Factors And Negative Consequences Of Police Porruption
Police corruption has negative consequences on the society, thus, it is important to investigate the
factors that cause police corruption. The present essay aims to explore the factors that cause police
corruption and its intervention. Police corruption is believed to be an organisational deviance rather
than an individual misbehaviour. Police officers are considered clean when they join the police
organisation and their deviant behaviours might be induced by police culture. The employment of
slack management with low control and norms of secrecy of police corruption in police organisations
are factors that lead to police corruption. In addition, recruits follow the informal rules in the
organisation due to peer pressure and are initiated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This perspective adopts the idea that good people can be induced to do nearly anything if they are
convinced that it is appropriate in a social context (Browning, 1992). Each context is perceived to
have its own inducements and rationalism that make people, who enter as rule abiding individuals,
allow themselves to do things that they would not do outside of the group (Punch, 2008). Thus, the
process in which initially clean police officers are influenced by the organisation and end up
performing deviant behaviours needs to be examined in explaining police

William Miller s The Of The Soul
tyrant would each be the most erotic men in the world, so that pure justness as well as its opposite can
be sought in a complete form. Cooper s ideas concerning this desire seem to fit a model Plato would
readily accept as this interpretation of wholeness is fleshed out in greater detail certainly seem
Platonic especially as this idea of wholeness is presented in a speech in the Symposium, and it is of
intrigue as to why it never became a part of the soul Plato set out to define. Perhaps it was too much
for him to interfere with the parallel between the city and the soul that he describes earlier in this work
and their reliance on three parts. Or, as Cooper asks, was Plato meaning to leave a discussion on the
eros under the surface of his work in the Republic? (pgs. 350 61). Regardless, discourse concerning
eros in the Republic has taken place and one such example of that is David H. McNeill. He argues that
human eros cannot involve the desires of something other worldly, at least in the Republic which he
contrasts with the Phaedrus. Of the two works, art is something approached very differently and is a
part of a philosophical orientation that Plato is assigning to each, according to McNeill. The problem
is that each discuss it by very different means. In the Republic such things as poetry and paintings are
dismissed fairly easily as imitations while the Phaedrus gives an account that suggests divine
inspiration for these things. McNeill uses this to suggest that human

Understanding The Concept Of Manners
Let s face the truth everyone loves a well mannered kid, but raising such a kid doesn t happen
overnight. Teaching your kid the basics of manners is a long term process which you can start as soon
as she develops language and communication skills. What manners you teach your kid at each stage of
her development will change according to her ability to understand and follow social values. Here are
a few tips to help you in the process:
1. Set realistic expectations
Keep your expectations realistic. Teaching a 3 year old kid how to stay put at the dinner table for 2
hours is nowhere close to reality. You need to acknowledge that there are certain things your kid is not
capable of doing, both psychologically and physically, at different stages. If you try to teach her more
than what she is capable of, that is not going to benefit her. Understanding the concept of manners is
as important as learning to practice them.
2. Create situations
Young kids learn a lot from observation and practice. It is important that you create situations or
expose your child to situations where she can practice manners. When you teach your kid to say hello
while answering a phone, make sure that she is presented with a few right situations to practice it. For
example, you can ask her grandparents to give a call, ask her to pick up the phone and answer it. If she
doesn t practice what she learnt, prompt her with a gentle reminder Remember what we learnt
yesterday? What should you say while

Essay on Corporate Downsizing
Corporate Downsizing Corporate Downsizing Organizations in every segment of business, industry,
government, and education are downsizing. Downsizing is and has been a controversial phenomenon
in the last few years. The controversy that surrounds downsizing may be better described as a debate
in organizational theory about whether change is adaptive or disruptive. The issues which establish the
outcome of the controversy include why the downsizing is taking affect, how it is implemented, and
what steps are taken to enhance its effects on organizational performance. The reasons for corporate
downsizing are presented in many forms. Some companies downsize due to technological changes
such as automation, which brings about the need for a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Management wants a quick cut that protects he company s assets, yet it wants to be gentle and
compassionate to those who are let go. These two objectives are self canceling, and to accomplish the
first requires considerable compromise on the second. Many companies wait until the day of the lay
off to inform its employees. They are concerned about sabotage and productivity. They seem to think
that if they retain the bad news until the last moment that the employees will leave and the rest will get
back to business. However, this method of a lay off is the least favorable for the employees. If the
company gives the employees notice of the cutback in the workforce, they will have time to plan for
the financial problems, look for other work, and make other necessary arrangements to prepare them
for the loss.
It would be in the best interest of the company to give this notice to its workers. Being a survivor of
downsizing can have its own ethical issues. Those who are left after the downsizing has occurred, may
share perceptions about the ethics of the decisions leading up to the dismissal of those who left. They
may experience feelings such as anger, guilt, fear, and even depression. These feelings could be
brought on by having to take up the slack and doing more work. They could also be asked to learn
new tasks and for the same or maybe even less money than before the downsizing. Asking people to

Self Immolation Essay
On the 11th of June, 1963, a monk named Thích Quảng Đức burned himself alive on a busy
Vietnamese intersection. An action that, in five months time, led to the assassination of the Buddhist
opposing president of the Republic of Vietnam. Self immolation, a form of protest in which one
sacrifices themselves, usually with fire, has returned, and has brought with it a multitude of issues.
First, a bit of history, although the death of Thích Quảng Đức was the first documented case of self
immolation as a form of protest, the concept of burning oneself alive has existed for much longer. The
Ritual of Sati refers to an old and now illegal practice in which a widowed Hindu woman would throw
herself upon the funeral pyre of her husband. The grotesque tradition originated from the myth of Sati,
a Hindu goddess who set herself on fire in retaliation to her husband s humiliation at the hands of her
own father. The first documented case of the ritual can be traced to Madhya Pradesh, where a
commemorative monument was erected in 510 CCE. While self immolation, in this context,
developed into a sexist method of sacrifice, the religious origin expressed it as an act of rebellion.
Buddhism also has strong connections with self immolation, there are many legends of monks who
sacrificed their own bodies for others. In the tale of The Hungry Tigress , a previous incarnation of
Buddha comes across a starving lion who is going to eat her cubs. The tale describes how Buddha
sacrifices his own

Abstract The paper here presents the model of a walking stick that alerts visually challenged people
over obstacles by use of electronic sensors and controllers. Very few of the navigation aids available
for visually challenged people can provide dynamic navigation and which work perfectly for day to
day navigation requirements (The white cane and walk dogs are not safe for today s increasing traffic
and insensitive world). This model here demonstrates a system concept to provide an electronic aid for
blind people which would benefit the challenged person for his daily travelling, whether it be indoors
or outdoors. The aim of system is to provide a sense of artificial vision by alerting the subject about
the environmental scenario of static and dynamic objects around them. In this system, an ultrasonic
sensor, an atmega16 controller, a buzzer and a vibration motor is used.

Summary Of The Cocktail Waitress
The Cocktail Waitress written by James P. Spradley and Brenda E. Mann is a 1975 classic. It studies in
depth and examines a familiar female role in contemporary American society. Its authors use
fieldwork methods to the study of social behavior in a college bar, as presented in the context of a
cocktail waitress. They describe the daily lives of women in details and the meaning of work in a man
s world. They provide a wealth of empirical data on the nature of being female in the society. The
book examines male female relationships as well as patterns of male dominance in social interactions.
It shows how these are connected to more general issues in anthropology. The objective presentation
of the waitress casts light on significant social issues

Gender, Employment, And Career Advancement
In the US, there have been considerable efforts to bring gender equity in the domains of education,
employment and career advancement. However, several occupations are still highly gender segregated
(ACLU, 2013). It has been found that the choices of such occupations could be shaped during early
childhood through gendered socialization. Playing with dolls is an important factor in the gender
socialization process. Dolls boost the cultural ideals that are linked to the place of girls in the society.
Barbie dolls tend to send negative images to young girls since they illuminate a fancy sexual figure
that seems unattainable (Grade, Ward Hyde, 2008). There is limited data on the negative effects this
doll has on the gender socialization of girls. This experiment seeks to assess whether experimentally
controlling girls interaction with Barbie dolls when compared to a neutral doll influences their
developmental ideas about who they want to be in the future.
Gender is a socially constructed concept and it denotes the behavior and characteristics associated
with either men or women (Sherman Zurbriggen, 2014). Different studies have shown that the
comprehension and acceptance of gender roles commence at a very early age (Sherman Zurbriggen,
2014). Playing with dolls or toys has been found to influence gender roles in kids. Play with Barbie
dolls is a significant source of gendered socialization because it conveys a sexualized adult to young
girls. However, research focusing on

Experiment #6
Date of the experiment: 01/29/2016
Title: KINETICS OF ALCOHOL OXIDATION
Drexel University Winter 2016
Introduction:
This report concerns the experiment of determining the order of reaction and the kinetic rate constant
of alcohol oxidation. This experiment relates to the knowledge of chemical kinetics, the application of
Beer s Law, and other calculations.
Chemical kinetics involves the examination of reaction rates, which are the speeds of chemical
reactions. There are chemical reactions which proceed in long periods of time as well as chemical
reactions proceeding in short periods of time. Regarding reaction rates, the reaction order and kinetic
rate constant are considered.
Take a general reaction in solution for instance: aA+bB⇌Product(s) The reaction rate is calculated
using the following function: rate=k〖[A]〗^x 〖[B]〗^y
Where [A] and [B] are the concentrations of A and B in the solution, unit: mol/L or M; x and y is the
reaction order of A and B respectively; k is the kinetic rate constant, its unit depends on the order of
the reaction.
The values of x and y are the partial order corresponding to A and B. The sum of x and y is the overall
reaction order. The values of x and y can be either negative or positive. They can also be either integer
or fractional. The reaction rate can be understood as how fast the reactants are consumed or how fast

1970 s-1980 Film Analysis
During the 1970 s Hollywood saw many changes occurring in the film industry, with big
conglomerates buying up studios to the wave of films in the New Hollywood style of filmmaking and
finally to the many technical innovations being explored throughout the decade. It was an important
time than and it is still important to modern Hollywood cinema with the many innovations directly
effecting all aspects of filmmaking. Of all the innovations to occur during the 1970 s 1980 s the big
three had to be the improvement upon digital effects work, the investments toward a film marketing
campaign and finally the new and quickly growing video market. Cinema all over the world had
impressive spectacles to behold since the beginning of film s creation, but the 1970 s and 1980 s saw
big advances with computer driven effects work. Just about every big budgeted film these days relies
upon CGI effects work including such award winning films like Avatar (2009), Dawn of the Planet of
the Apes (2014) and Hugo (2011). These films could be made the way they are today without the
enhanced effects work being done in the 70 s 80 s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Dispositional, Biological and Evolutionary Theory of Personality
A Comparison
The word Personality is derived from the latin word persona , which stands for the mask theatre artists
wear during performances. By definition, personality is a pattern of relatively permanent traits and
unique characteristics that give both consistency and individuality to a person s behavior (Feist
Rosenberg, 2009). Human personality is a unique set of traits that determines how a person reacts to
certain situations. Whether the person is curious, risk taking, meticulous, introverted etc. falls in the
realm of personality. Personality is a unique determinant of how we conduct our lives and in effect
determines our biological fitness. There are many theories that try to explain the origins of personality
and how they manifest into life decisions.
The three main theories that have come to the forefront in the race to explain personality are viz.,
Dispositional Theory, Evolutionary Theory and Biological Theory.

Essay On Jane Addams
Jane Addams, what a powerful name without saying anything about her. But not too many people
know the great lasting impact she has had on our society. Being one of the founding people of
sociology and the only woman, expectations was held high for her. I believe this generation should
know her influences, the contribution to society and her significant impact. Jane Addams was inspired
by the sightings and the vibe that she felt when she traveled to Germany. When visiting Ulm
Cathedral, she got a sense of peace and unity. With her close friends Ellen Gates Starr by her side she
found her inspiration. While traveling to London, England she found an organization, Toynbee Hall ,

Addams had so many significant impacts on the world with the Hull House just being one of many.
But she also gave a voice for child labor, juvenile justice, workers rights, and discrimination. Without
her speaking on these things it would be eight year old s working factory jobs instead of getting an
education. With family incomes being low now in the U.S people probably would send their children
off to work before letting them get an education to help out with the family income. Worker s rights
have improved a little since Jane discussed these conditions. We now have rights to a safe working
environment. Even though we still have some discrimination in our society today Jane was also an
advocate on that also. Earlier in society people especially blacks and women were discriminated
against. Not just with jobs but all social aspects of the society, which were simple things that included
voting and working rights. With only name a few of the lasting significant impacts you could see Ms.
Addams has contributed a lot to this country. Just think for minute. If there was no Jane Addams,
where would our society be like today? With me being a future sociologist she has paved a way and
created some big shoes for women like me, or maybe men to fit in. Without her starting social reforms
the opportunity for me interning at a Social Services probably wouldn t be available to me or others.

  • 2. Essay on Most Famous Work and the People Who Discovered Them Most famous work Edward Witten is most known for proving the string theory using a mathematical equation. Werner Heisenberg s research in 1943 became the base from which the string theory grew from. Yoichiro Nambu, Holger Bech Nielsen, and Leonard Susskind first had the idea of string theory in 1970, but the scientific community lost interest quickly. Due to the discovery of quantum chromodynamics, John. H Schwarz and Joel Scherk where able to study boson (elementary particle) patterns and found that they acted as strings and that their properties matched graviton (elementary particle). This discovery led to the bosonic string theory, which was the first string theory that is still taught to students as they are starting to understand the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mandaean Chapter 4 In Chapter 4, Turning the Tables on Jesus: the Mandaean View , by Jorunn Jacobsen Buckley, states that studying the descendents of the firsts followers of Jesus, we can have a better understanding of the social history of the early Christians. The Mandaeans were known as the knower s or Gnostics and they are the only ones that survived that have a connection to the early Christians. Mandaeans have their own spoken language and religion with unique ritual practices. In addition, their cultural traditions come from their literature text. Mandaean ritual s purpose is to control or overcome evil, which makes them believe that this has saved them from extinction. Mandaean people way of life is through their religion and history, today we can even find them. Buckley states that evidence suggests that the Mandaean people may have originated in Palestine during the time of John the Baptist and Jesus. The Mandeans see themselves as former Judeans from Jerusalem because of traditional practices. During the Ottoman Empire, Islam ruled every part of the theocratic state, but after the demise of the empire, Turkey s rulers led the country away from political Islam. The modern Turkish state has a strictly secular government, and Islam has been relegated to the personal sphere. Although Turkey has experienced a rise in fundamentalism in the past twenty years, the separation of church and state has remained relatively intact. Even with this increase of fundamentalist Islam, the wide majority of Muslims in Turkey are moderate and tolerant. The Effects of Drinking and Smoking While Pregnant Essay The Effects of Drinking and Smoking While Pregnant The most disgusting thing in this world in my opinion, is when a pregnant woman drinks or smokes. • 8. The Decline Of Electoral Participation Among Young Canadians The Decline of Electoral Participation Among Young Canadians Since a robust voter turnout is instrumental to the functioning of a healthy democracy, the ongoing decline of youth voter turnout in Canada is highly alarming. According to the Canadian Election Study, the reported voter turnout among Canadians aged 18 to 24 dropped from 83 percent in 1974 to 60 percent in 2000 (Barnes and Virgint, 2010). The aim of this paper is to explain this decline. While it is generally accepted that people s propensity to vote increases as they age in their life cycle , it does not provide an adequate explanation for the decline of voter turnout among young Canadians. This paper argues that the decline of youth electoral participation in Canada is, by and large, generational in nature it can be attributed by the underlying characteristics of the youth generation. Young Canadians are more apathetic towards the political process, have a lower level of political knowledge, and view voting as less of a moral obligation than older Canadians and young Canadians in past generations. For the purposes of this paper, young Canadians will be defined broadly as the cohort of Canadians aged 18 to 27. The paper will first briefly explain why a declining youth turnout is problematic to Canadian democracy. It will then refute two prevalent explanations to the decline of the Canadian youth voter turnout that emphasize the role of political cynicism and political parties. Last, it will provide three ... • 12. Risks of Just in Time Inventory Systems Essay The Risks of Being Just In Time The following is a guest article written by Nick Koletic, an economics specialist at UCLA. In addition to giving a brief background on Just In Time inventory system s benefits, the article s main focus is the risks that JIT systems face. Just In Time inventory (JIT) is part of a production system whereby a firm vastly reduces inventory from its production processes so that utilization of production inputs and delivery of finished products are accomplished without incurring significant holding costs. While JIT inventory systems are quite attractive for this reason, they are a double edged sword. And though a JIT system might even be a necessity given the inventory demands of certain business types, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shipping the same quantity of a product to different retail outlets, for example, might not make much sense if the demand for that good is significantly greater at one location relative to another. This approach to delivery cost savings also facilitates decreases in aforementioned holding costs by not overstocking certain locations with a product. The same principle holds for inputs in production; parts are not delivered and held at production centers where they might lay idle. Some positive externalities may also result from a firm s decision to implement a JIT system. Suppliers of such a firm, for example, might then be able handle larger orders but fulfill them with smaller shipments. That is to say that for any given order size, supplying a customer that utilizes JIT is typically easier to do because individual shipments tend to be smaller for these customers and thus tend to be less demanding of the supplier. So it might be possible for suppliers, merely by the nature of their customers JIT system, to greatly expand their ability to fill larger orders without having to increase production capacity. Several factors, however, make JIT systems a risky proposition. A key concern here is the extent to which firms are dependent upon particular suppliers under such an inventory system. For example, if a firm were to commission a highly proprietary product to a single supplier (single suppliers being common in JIT), a JIT ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

God called me to be an ambassador for Christ, and He has never failed to be my provision. Any menial task that was my responsibility, He smiled as I enthusiastically performed my calling. From dodging scorpions and poisonous toads to running from a brood of chickens, I never had a dull moment on mission with God. My travels began in 1999, and the following pages are stories ... • 14. Second Great Awakening Analysis The Second Great Awakening was a Protestant revival movement during the early 19th century in the United States. It enrolled millions of new members in existing evangelical denominations and led to the formation of new denominations. Many converts believed that the Awakening heralded a new millennial age. The Second Great Awakening stimulated the establishment of many reform movements by a sort of domino effect of inspiration as one movement started, it encouraged the initiation of another. A lot of these movements were composed and sought out during camp meetings on religious revival during the 1800 s to get a gathering of passionate on goers to share and discuss their beliefs to restore their interest and devotion to their faith, ... Settlers in thinly populated areas gathered at the camp meeting for fellowship as well as worship. (Lambert, 2013) The sheer exhilaration of participating in a religious revival with crowds of hundreds and perhaps thousands of people inspired the dancing, shouting, and singing associated with these events. Upon their return home, most converts joined or created small local churches, which grew rapidly. The Second Great Awakening marked a religious transition in society in America. Many Americans from the Calvinist sect emphasized man s inability to save themselves and their only way to be saved was from grace from God. (Independence Hall Association in Philadelphia, 2014) The Second Great Awakening caused a more of a lasting change on American society than any other religious revival. One of the major ideas of the Second Great Awakening was that people could perfect themselves. The Second Great Awakening put forward the idea that people could work to achieve their own salvation. The Age of Jackson was a time of tremendous reform with American society and politics. Andrew Jackson s position as president lasted from 1829 1837, therefore the fact that many writers and historians have attached his name to the time period between 1820 and 1850 indicates the high importance of his spirit of the reform. During this period, known as Jacksonian Democracy, social and political reform movements and equal rights dominated the American landscape. Many of these reforms were supported by religious ideals over democratic system, but in this period the democratic ideals in America came to greater results than ever before. The impact of the reforms that happened during the Jacksonian Era had strong political foundations. However, at the start of year 1815, many states have accepted white, property less males the right to vote. All states, but one, continued following this trend up to the year 1850. Police officers are considered clean when they join the police organisation and their deviant behaviours might be induced by police culture. Cooper s ideas concerning this desire seem to fit a model Plato would readily accept as this interpretation of wholeness is fleshed out in greater detail certainly seem Platonic especially as this idea of wholeness is presented in a speech in the Symposium, and it is of intrigue as to why it never became a part of the soul Plato set out to define. Perhaps it was too much for him to interfere with the parallel between the city and the soul that he describes earlier in this work and their reliance on three parts. Or, as Cooper asks, was Plato meaning to leave a discussion on the eros under the surface of his work in the Republic? (pgs. 350 61). Regardless, discourse concerning eros in the Republic has taken place and one such example of that is David H. McNeill. He argues that human eros cannot involve the desires of something other worldly, at least in the Republic which he contrasts with the Phaedrus. Of the two works, art is something approached very differently and is a part of a philosophical orientation that Plato is assigning to each, according to McNeill. The problem is that each discuss it by very different means. In the Republic such things as poetry and paintings are dismissed fairly easily as imitations while the Phaedrus gives an account that suggests divine inspiration for these things. • 26. Understanding The Concept Of Manners Let s face the truth everyone loves a well mannered kid, but raising such a kid doesn t happen overnight. Teaching your kid the basics of manners is a long term process which you can start as soon as she develops language and communication skills. What manners you teach your kid at each stage of her development will change according to her ability to understand and follow social values. Here are a few tips to help you in the process: 1. Set realistic expectations Keep your expectations realistic. Teaching a 3 year old kid how to stay put at the dinner table for 2 hours is nowhere close to reality. You need to acknowledge that there are certain things your kid is not capable of doing, both psychologically and physically, at different stages. If you try to teach her more than what she is capable of, that is not going to benefit her. Understanding the concept of manners is as important as learning to practice them. 2. Create situations Young kids learn a lot from observation and practice. It is important that you create situations or expose your child to situations where she can practice manners. When you teach your kid to say hello while answering a phone, make sure that she is presented with a few right situations to practice it. For example, you can ask her grandparents to give a call, ask her to pick up the phone and answer it. If she doesn t practice what she learnt, prompt her with a gentle reminder Remember what we learnt yesterday? What should you say while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are concerned about sabotage and productivity. They seem to think that if they retain the bad news until the last moment that the employees will leave and the rest will get back to business. An action that, in five months time, led to the assassination of the Buddhist opposing president of the Republic of Vietnam. Self immolation, a form of protest in which one sacrifices themselves, usually with fire, has returned, and has brought with it a multitude of issues. First, a bit of history, although the death of Thích Quảng Đức was the first documented case of self immolation as a form of protest, the concept of burning oneself alive has existed for much longer. The Ritual of Sati refers to an old and now illegal practice in which a widowed Hindu woman would throw herself upon the funeral pyre of her husband. The grotesque tradition originated from the myth of Sati, a Hindu goddess who set herself on fire in retaliation to her husband s humiliation at the hands of her own father. The first documented case of the ritual can be traced to Madhya Pradesh, where a commemorative monument was erected in 510 CCE. While self immolation, in this context, developed into a sexist method of sacrifice, the religious origin expressed it as an act of rebellion. Buddhism also has strong connections with self immolation, there are many legends of monks who sacrificed their own bodies for others. However, several occupations are still highly gender segregated (ACLU, 2013). It has been found that the choices of such occupations could be shaped during early childhood through gendered socialization. Playing with dolls is an important factor in the gender socialization process. Dolls boost the cultural ideals that are linked to the place of girls in the society. Barbie dolls tend to send negative images to young girls since they illuminate a fancy sexual figure that seems unattainable (Grade, Ward Hyde, 2008). This experiment relates to the knowledge of chemical kinetics, the application of Beer s Law, and other calculations. Chemical kinetics involves the examination of reaction rates, which are the speeds of chemical reactions. There are chemical reactions which proceed in long periods of time as well as chemical reactions proceeding in short periods of time. Regarding reaction rates, the reaction order and kinetic rate constant are considered. Take a general reaction in solution for instance: aA+bB⇌Product(s) The reaction rate is calculated using the following function: rate=k〖[A]〗^x 〖[B]〗^y Where [A] and [B] are the concentrations of A and B in the solution, unit: mol/L or M; x and y is the reaction order of A and B respectively; k is the kinetic rate constant, its unit depends on the order of the reaction. The values of x and y are the partial order corresponding to A and B. The sum of x and y is the overall reaction order. The values of x and y can be either negative or positive. They can also be either integer or fractional. The reaction rate can be understood as how fast the reactants are consumed or how fast the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
