Difference Between Children Literature And Children s...
2.2 Theoretical Orientation
2.2.1 Children Literature
Children s literature has been used a lot as a useful and critical material in teaching reading. According
to Rebecca (2010) Children s Literature as a concept is defined as literature exclusively about
children. Children s literature refers mainly to stories, poetry, rhymes, folk tales, drama, exclusively
created for children such as infants, toddlers and the young people as target audience. But to look
deeper, because children s experiences, knowledge and interests are limited, their literature differs
from adult but only in degree not in kind. Children s literature is a rich resource for vocabulary
development that can be the strong fundamental for EFL learner to acquire functional English. For
decades, research ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader applies many strategies to reconstruct the meaning that the author is assumed to have
intended. The reader does this by comparing information in the text to his or her background
knowledge and prior experience Stated Mikulecky in 2008
Teaching reading is one of the critical parts of teaching language. Through reading, the teacher role is
to guide student how to comprehend written language so that the student can get the idea and share
their thought to other easily. Byrnes (1998) stated that reading is an interactive process that goes on
between the reader and the text, resulting in comprehension. The text presents letters, words,
sentences, and paragraphs that encode meaning. The reader uses knowledge, skills, and strategies to
determine what that meaning is. Before teaching reading, it is necessary for teacher to meet some
requirements mentioned before. Teacher also has to be completely understood and choose the effective
method and technique as well as preparing the decent reading material. Whilst also considering the
student who has English as a foreign language and student s language

Stereotypes And Stereotypes Of The Movie The Single Moms...
In today s society, media portrays more stereotypes than we can count on one hand. Latino s and
Latina s are particularly stereotyped in media way too often. This overview of the most common
Hispanic stereotypes portrayed in the media reveals why sweeping generalizations about Latinos are
harmful (Nittle). Whether it is a male or female Latin actress/actor, the stereotypes rage from: Latin
lovers and sexpot s to thugs and immigrants. When in reality, not all Latino s are what the stereotypes
claim.
Have you ever seen a movie or show in which the main male character is a Hispanic hunk who gets all
the ladies? He would be considered a Latin Lover , which in other words is the real world Latino Ken
Doll with a great romantic and sexual prowess. William Levy, a Cuban American actor and model, is
an exact replica of this Latin Ken Doll. In the movie, The Single Moms Club, Levy plays the hunky
secret boyfriend of one of the mothers. Of course, because he is a Latin lover he is absolutely
gorgeous just as his lady is, he is said to be a master in the sheets and also has a big heart. Although in
the real world, just as any other culture or race, not all Latino men are perfect, and mirror Greek Gods.
Latina women are often portrayed as sexy, sassy, and spicy on television according to Sexy, Sassy,
Spicy: The Portrayal of Latina Women in American Television. As a Hispanic woman, you must be
loud, sexy, have a huge attitude and not speak fluent English, or at least this is what

Importance Of Art And Education
Art is a way for me to visualise my personal ideas and express myself in a way for others to interpret.
I enjoy being able to create something from an idea, as well as exploring my individuality and by
choosing this course I will be able to refine my skills to specialise in the areas I really enjoy. So why
fine art and education together? I believe that using art within a classroom as a teaching method is a
great way to actively involve pupils, and get everybody engaged with learning. I also see it as a way of
inspiring children to do their best, and being able to see a child overcome struggles within their
education and within their personal life will be very rewarding. I have partaken in numerous activities
which demonstrate my dedication to my subject areas, as well as ways of gaining experience and
utilising my skills. For example, I have volunteered for the NEC Skills Show with my college where I
exhibited work and taught members of the public various ways of using make up to create wounds. I
have also visited primary schools to teach them art skills and to help with painting murals of cartoon
characters in their playground. Outside of college I have tutored family friends for homework and
grammar school entrance tests. At the end of my first year at college I was chosen to have my work
exhibited in the Origins 2017 exhibition in London alongside the work of other individuals from all
over England. I have also had experience with caring for a family member during their

The Importance Of Drug Smuggling In Australia
Nearly one third of the 545 Australians currently imprisoned or facing charges overseas were
convicted or arrested for drug related crimes, according to the latest figures from the Department of
Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Drug smuggling overseas is an enormous problem in our generation.
Our society has seen countless of offenders in the newspapers and on social media, including the
outrageously infamous Bali Nine, Cassie Sainsbury and Schapelle Corby as the drug smugglers most
emphasised in the media in the last 15 years. Serious criminal offences committed like these cases see
drug smugglers sentenced to harsh sentences in overseas countries like Bali and Columbia. However
for large cases like these, special applications can be made for Serious Overseas Criminal Matters
through the government. The only way to be eligible for Serious Overseas Criminal Matters is by
being sentenced to either imprisonment for 20 years or more, or the death penalty. To be sentenced to
convictions like this the person must have committed a serious offence, involving a large amount of
drugs. When amounts like these are used in cases it s hard to understand how the convicted person is
not guilty. It goes without saying innocent until proven guilty and cases like Schapelle Corby and
Cassie Sainsbury continually express their innocence, however with evidence and flaws in their cases
it s hard to see how innocent is the case. Drug smuggling, whether it be a mule or the ringleader is a

Write An Essay On Geronimo s Life
Born sometime around the 1820s near the Gila River along the border of what later would be known
as Arizona and New Mexico, Geronimo, also named Goyaale, became known as a leader and
motivator for his tribe. As a boy, he was a talented hunter often getting praise from the rest of his tribe.
It is said that he ate the heart of the first animal he killed to ensure that he would always be successful
hunter. Throughout his life, he was told that no one was his friend, except his arms and legs. There
was always danger, he was told, There was always that fear, that just around the corner, somebody
would be coming around to take your life. His hatred toward the Mexicans became rooted into his

be shot and that a great power would be guiding his arrows as he hunted for revenge on the Mexicans
that murdered his family. But in 1848, soon after the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, in
which Mexico ceded widespread lands in the Southwest to the United States, the Anglo Americans
made it clear they intended to restrict the attacking and territorial use by the different Apache bands.
The Anglo American mines, ranches, and communities established interrupted the Apaches lifestyles.
The Americans set limits on where the Apaches could live. The Apaches, of course, had other ideas.
But after his tribe was relocated on the San Carlos reservation in Arizona 1872, the Chiricahuas were
unhappy with the idea of living any reservation life, but their disappointment turned to anger when
they were forcibly gathered with other Apache groups Reservation in Arizona. Geronimo became the

Analysis Of Rappaccini s Daughter By Nathaniel...
At first glance, Rappaccini s Daughter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is a tragic love story that ends in the
death of one man s true love and another man s daughter. But underneath, there is a dark undercurrent
that is characteristic of the Gothic Romantic strain. This is not so much a story of love and loss as it is
of two scientists desire to come out on top and conquer all who try to stop them. It is a tale of man s
struggle to control nature and gain knowledge beyond that which we are supposed to have. It
highlights a man who seeks to have a deep understanding of Nature s secrets. It is Rappiccini s desire
for this knowledge that causes a rivalry with another scientist. In the end, his obsession is what
eventually takes everything he loved away from him in a fashion characteristic of the Gothic
Romantic strain. The Gothic Romantic writers primarily focus on the darker side of things. Nature is a
destroyer. Additionally, the hero/heroine is solitary and often controlled by extreme emotions. There
are characters who attempt to gain absolute knowledge of Nature and bend that knowledge to their
will so they can essentially become like God. These themes are quite prevalent in Rappaccini s
Daughter. One of the characters, Giovanni Guasconti, is alone in Naples. Beatrice has absorbed the
poisons from the plants around her. This effectively cuts her off from the rest of the world. Her very
touch harms the skin of the other person (12). When Giovanni first

The Democratic People s Republic of Korea, or more commonly known as North Korea, is one of the
most secretive and intriguing nations of the world. In a time of saturated globalization and continuous
exchanges of culture and information, little is known about the northern part of the Korean peninsula.
Yet even with this veil of secrecy, it continues to gain our attention. Within North Korea, there have
been numerous incidents that have brought concern within the global community. Famine, corruption,
political prison camps, and threats of nuclear usage are just a few of the marks on the list of its
immoralities. This country has been rightly scrutinized and ridiculed for its actions over the duration

Essay On Willy Death Of A Salesman
You know how is it when you love someone? And the hard part, the bad part, the Jerry Springer Show

carrying a piece of him in my heart until the day I die. Willy, who will live on in memory until that,

Persuasive Essay On Acne
Your skin is your friend, and you should love your skin no matter what color it is. Your skin likes you.
As a matter of fact, it protects you from the elements and literally keeps you together. You, in turn, do
your best to protect it from any kind of damage. Then, one day, acne rears its ugly head, and you
suddenly no longer love your skin. What do you do then? Turn to harsh chemicals, and overpriced
scrubs? That s a great way to thank a friend who s been there for you since day one. Your epidermis
isn t at fault here since it can t help that your hormones are causing all that extra sebum to clog up
your pores, or the fact that bacteria is running rampant. This is what causes pores to become blocked
with bacteria, which causes inflammation and redness.
If your skin could talk, what would it say? It would probably say something along the lines of
patience, grasshopper. Treat me right and I shall repay you in kind.
That s just a guess, anyways. The point is, natural acne remedies are a good way to get rid of it, or at
least hold it at bay. They make you step back and really figure out what s going on with your skin, and
how to work with it. Chances are, your skin will repay you in kind for not simply ravaging it with
strange chemicals and your wallet will probably thank you too.

The Mind And Body Problem
Abstract:
It is more reasonable to think that the patient has the usual range of mental states. Behaviours visually
express mental states better than knowing if one has a Cartesian soul or the requirement of a normal
human brain.
Body:
It is reasonable to think that the patient has the usual range of mental states because she is
behaviourally indistinguishable from a normal human. Behaviours make mental states more
evidentially obvious than knowing the brain state of a patient or if they have a Cartesian soul or not.
Doctor 4 provides the argument that since the patient is behaviourally indistinguishable from a normal
human, she has the usual range of mental states. Gilbert Ryle s view on the mind and body problem
stems from Philosophical or logical behaviourism (Wk. 8 1, Slide 18). This view means that the idea
that ascriptions of mental states correlates to dispositions of behaviour (Wk. 8 1, Slide 18).
Behaviourists describe that saying, I am in pain, does not report an inner state, but rather is part of
being in pain (Wk. 8 1, Slide 23). B.F. Skinner, a psychological behaviourist, also believes that mental
states correlate to behaviours. Psychological Behaviourism is defined as, studying the mind by
studying behaviour (Wk. 8 1, Slide 26). Skinner s black box is an experiment to observe
stimulus/response pairings (Wk. 8 1, Slide 26). Suppose we were to subject the patient to a number of
stimuli in a test environment, and noted down her behaviours. We would

Rhythm of the Seasons
The Cherokee people were not time conscious they did not have specified time for rituals and

it was associated with cold and sadness. It was symbolized by the color blue. Winter belonged to the
north. Spring which has its heritage in the East is represented by the color red. Spring time symbolized
victory. It was a new beginning occasioned by warm weather festivities and merry making. Summer
was time for happiness where every thing was peaceful and serene. There was plenty of harvest during
this season. Summer was symbolized by the color white, the color of peace. Finally autumn which was
the end of the cycle symbolized death. Autumn was symbolized by the color black, the color of death.
During autumn the Cherokee people did not engage in many festivities each household remained
isolated.

Cell Phones And Health Risks
During my recent searches on this particular subject, I across interesting studies regarding cell phones
and health risks. Cell phones have changed drastically from 20 years ago to present. When phones
first came out they were only in our homes, I recall when I was younger we would go places and
wouldn t have a cell phone to call or text, to let your family know your location, unlike today. In the
early 90 s, the bag phone was introduced to the public. These phones were a big deal when they first
came out, you would plug them into your cigarette lighter. When you would call someone it took a bit
for it to go through but once the call went through you could hear someone on the other line. When
you got done with the call you would hang up and once you got home you would zip the phone up and
carry it inside. As a kid, this was very interesting. The cordless cell phones were quickly developed. If
you had a cordless cell phone you were cool. When the cell phones first came out, your options were
limited. At the time talking was the only option available, more options were available; text, check
email, and facebook. The more technology rise; the more you can do on your phones, from skype to
google and even ask your phone questions and it will answer back. When I did recent research I found
that the studies have become more about what the cell phones are doing to people and their health. In
this essay you will learn that throughout history, Scientists have done studies to find that

The Life and Times of Claude McKay Essay
The life and Writings of Claude McKay
Introduction
Every literary period can be defined by a group of writers. For the Harlem Renaissance, which was an
extraordinary eruption of creativity among Black Americans in all fields of art, Claude McKay was
the leader. Claude McKay was a major asset to the Harlem Renaissance with his contributions of such
great pieces of writings such as If We Must Die and The Lynching. McKay wrote in many different
styles. His work which vary from dialect verse celebrating peasant life in Jamaica, to militant poems
challenging white authority in the United States, to philosophically ambitious novels about the effort

These two pieces of writing were published by Walter Jekyll, a publisher who encouraged McKay to
write poetry rooted in Jamaican folk culture and with Jamaican Dialect. These pieces of writing
differed from the traditional form of writing he learned in his schooling, but gave McKay his first
piece of recognition. These two pieces of writing were so successful that they allowed McKay to be
the first black writer to receive the medal from the Jamaican institute of Arts and Sciences. McKay
used the money that he received from this award to go to America to study agriculture (Masiello 245).
McKay came to the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama to study agriculture but left within two months. He
transferred to Kansas State and stayed there until 1914 when he lost interest in the field of agriculture
and returned to his writing (Masiello 245). McKay then had a few years with little success, this was
when he initially moved to Harlem. In 1914, he married Eulalie Imelda Edwards, the marriage ended
within six months (Ali 201). From 1914 to 1919, McKay was not very successful as a writer, and only
had his work published under the pseudonym Eli Edwards ( Claude McKay 1375). He was also forced
to work medial jobs such as a dining car waiter on the Pennsylvania Railroad. These hard times later
rendered the novel Home to Harlem (Hathaway 290).
McKay s situation soon improved;

The Democratization Of South Korea
Kyle Borgman
Professor Porter
Global Democracy
1 December 2014
The Democratization of South Korea Long before the hustle and bustle of the big city, ages afore the
creation of one of the world s largest standing militaries, the Republic of South Korea was one of the
farthest governments from a democracy. Following the Japanese occupation of World War Two, the
South Korean government went through many different forms of authority. According to Jung Hae Gu,
professor of Social Sciences at the University of Sung Kong Hoe in Korea, and Kim Ho Ki, professor
of Sociology at Yonsie University in Korea, the Republic of Korea has so far went through a total of 6
different regime changes since the liberation from Japanese occupation (Hae Gu, Ho Ki). The shifts in
government occurred under various regimes, Rhee Syng Man, Park Chung Hee, Chun Doo Hwan, and
the June Uprising of 1987 (Hae Gu, Ho Ki). But the lead up to the democratization of South Korea has
a more fluid past though, one of hardship and struggle, fluctuation between authoritarian regimes and
military run governments. The pressures that caused the governments to change play a very vital role
though too, they are the forces that shape the government and the ruling nature. The current ruling
democracy was forged by the previous governments and deserves to be examined and discussed
because they are obliviously the ones in charge right now. And lastly, the current military state of
South Korea is to be reviewed. The

complete the task as designed (Geiselman et al., 2013). Consistent with the model is the idea that the
most likely scenario for complacency in the cockpit is prior to a very reliable system failing for the
first time (Parasuraman Manzey, 2010). Similar to complacency in automation is bias. Bias breeds the
misuse of automation through errors of omission and commission errors. Errors of omission are in
reference to the aircrew not taking action as directed by automation, while commission errors are
incorrect instructions provided by the automation that are acknowledged and followed by the operator
as directed (Parasuraman Manzey, 2010). Several human factors of bias exist that make it a difficult
problem to fix. The most common being that humans are typically drawn to situations that bias toward
automation is natural, such as; choosing a path requiring less effort, natural trust in a system that has
not failed previously, and the psychological effect of delegating tasks in a shared responsibility
environment (Parasuraman Manzey, 2010). Compounding on the issue is that bias does not appear to
be resolved by experience of the operator as it influences the natural human

Reflective Essay On Loss Of Life
Just the mere thought of dying makes me feel petrified. In just a snap of a finger it can alter someone s
life. No one really ought to think about their own death. Thinking about it felt like it would happen
sooner. To come to the point, I am not yet ready. Hence, I was still enjoying this stunning life I was
facing. I am still dreaming and desiring. I am not yet pleased of what I accomplished.
According to S. Luper (2014), death is said to be the end of life. He said that being conscious doesn t
literally meant being alive. Dead means a loss of capacity. Advocate of the loss of life claims that if it
exists, it is alive, but if not, then it is not alive. Believing in afterlife will be the only thing which will
make us feel that this event in our life will be our transition to the next big step we are going to face.
So we need to keep our feet on the ground, continue our faith and discover the whole new world
waiting for us.
I am fully aware that death will come. Maybe today, tomorrow, or the next day. No one really knows.
Before this loss of life I will undergo, I look forward to leaving my loved ones in a peaceful condition.

Although there is a treatment for sleep apnea, the successful treatment requires surgery. Davis states
the most successful treatment in children is to remove the child s tonsils and adenoids. Another
treatment that Davis shows in his article is the CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) though
Davis explains this treatment only splints open the airway and is uncomfortable since the patient has

writing, Davis states that children with sleep apnea usually have many special education issues. They
might find it hard to concentrate on a certain thing; they usually having behavior and memory issues.

Having parents that only care about your schooling and social image would be the worst. As a little
girl, I grew up in a crazy and chaotic family. My parents treated me very well. I wasn t told that I had

parents are far more lenient with me than they were with my older siblings. Just like so many other
parents who have been worn out from parenting teens, they have set fewer rules for me to follow and
rarely check up on me.
My dad was always the type of person to misbehave with me before I went to bed, ultimately, making
me not so tired anymore He would always wrestle with me and make me laugh whenever I didn t want
to and he still does. Whenever I would get in a wreck with my bike or accidentally fall down, he
would tell me to suck it up, so I did. If I wanted to even start to complain about something, or cry, I
would never go to my dad about it because he would tell me, You re fine Brenna. He also showed me
how to have fun in a good way. My dad is not the type to care as much about the opinions of others.
He taught me that I am a unique individual and I don t need to fake my personality for others
approval. My mother is someone I have always admired. She puts the entire family s feelings before

Fast Fashion On Fast Food Industry
Slow Fashion
Fast fashion is a force that needs constant change from retailers; new garments and new trends cycle
out as fast as a bi weekly basis, putting pressure on the industry to sell fast and cheap to the consumer.
However, with the news publishing more articles about the working conditions in factories,
comparable to the Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh, and the run off pollution these factories produce,
the consumer is demanding more transparency in the supply chain. The introduction to slow fashion
came from this demand of wanting a better understanding of the garments we wear, similar to the slow
food movement that surfaced from the fast food industry. The slow food movement began in Italy in
the 1980s as a reaction to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Slowing down the consumption that is encouraged by fast fashion will help reduce raw materials and
decrease fashion production, allowing the earth time to regenerate and heal from the damage industry
creates to the environment (1B). Linda Greer, a senior scientist at the NRDC (Natural Resources
Defense Council, believes that the slow fashion movement will hold large retailers accountable for its
manufacturing aboard. Clean by Design is a program created by the NRDC that works with retailers to
green the fashion supply chain (4B). These types of programs will assist with the large companies
meeting the needs of the new movement of ethical consumerism where consumers are demanding that
the clothes they buy do not harm the environment or the workers who made them (11B, pg.200).
Another aspect of the slow fashion movement is supporting the development of local businesses by
focusing on using local resources and materials, these companies take the claim of slow and put it into

Many small businesses keep traditional methods of garment and textile making, giving meaning to the

ABSTRACT: Contemporary progress in life sciences, particularly in genetic engineering, is changing
our concept of human being and a whole series of other philosophical and common notions. The
conventional idea of subject will no longer be the final reference for philosophical thinking, since
even the subject qua biological or psychological structure will enjoy a high degree of unpredictability.
The results of gene technology require reinterpreting such concepts as reproduction, individuality,
history, freedom and subjectivity. This paper focuses on the question of freedom, where freedom

Gene technology requires dealing with, and reinterpreting terms such as reproduction, individuality,
history, freedom and subjectivity. Many people consider 1989 as the symbolic turning point, when the
epoch of history and society started to be replaced by the epoch of biotechnology, genetic engineering
or most recently evolution technology. We can say, that we are at the beginning of a genetic epoch
(genepoch) or as Manfred Eigen (Steps Towards Life, Oxford University Press, 1992) calls it the era
of molecular biology . In this vision of history, having solved the disputed questions of society in the
practice and theory of democracy, mankind begins a new historical period, the genetic period, where
even the terminology of history will be a completely new kind. Avant garde philosophers develop a
new approach for investigating the genetic structure of all traditional problems instead of further
exploring the society, language, knowledge or physical world. The protagonists of this new paradigm
think, that after such kind of leading principals of philosophical discussions as democracy , socialism ,
subject and causal sciences , there will be a new leading idea, which by the analogy of neuronalism
and cognitivism, should be called genetism.
It is not our goal here to review all the possible (medical, social, etc.) implications, which could be
involved in genetic research and in the development of

What Is Intelligence Anyway Book Report
What is intelligence anyway?
This autobiography was written by Doctor Isaac Asimov who wanted to hint us on what intelligence
really is. When the doctor went to get his car fixed, he was asked a riddle by the auto repair man and

He was smart by the standards of education but there are different types of being smart like being
street smart. He was so educated that he had no experiences with things like riddles which may have
been common sense to others. The strength of the passage was being an autobiography with real
personal experiences while the weakness was the lack of explanation about how the doctor was
lacking in intelligence.

From its inception in 1996 until recently, The Fashion Channel (TFC) enjoyed great success by
appealing to as a broad an audience as possible. Overall viewer numbers were the main focus, and so
long as TFC had no significant competition in terms of the fashion specific content it offered, this

But competitors such as CNN and Lifetime made note of TFC s success. They began to offer fashion

TFC s senior vice president of marketing, Dana Wheeler, believes increasing both viewership (ratings)
and advertising pricing would increase the advertising revenue that the company was seeking. She
developed three different scenarios to mix their most popular viewing segments and the expected
results it would have on advertising pricing (CPM).
The first scenario would target the Fashionistas, the Shoppers/Planners and the Situationalists. This
would create a broader marketing base, but miss the primary group that advertisers are seeking. Based
on this scenario, the viewership could increase over time from 1.0% to 1.2%, while the average CPM
would decrease from $2.00 to$1.80 (see Exhibit 4). Overall, this scenario would generate an increase
in advertising revenue of 8% from 2006 revenues to $249 million.
Scenario #2 narrows the focus on the Fashionistas, preferred by advertisers. In this scenario, the
average viewership rating would drop from 1.0% to .8% due to the narrow focus, but the CPM would
increase dramatically from $2.00 to $3.50 resulting in an increase of 40% in advertising revenue or
roughly $92 million (see Exhibit 4). This scenario would also require and additional programming
cost of $15 million per year, but given the additional revenue it would generate, the investment seems
like a good one to make.

total of 28 clinical nurses were involved and a total of 210 assessments obtained. Statistical analysis
demonstrated weak or a moderate degree of inter rater reliability. Other authors suggested the water

Edwards (1995) examined the reliability of the Waterlow Scale he did a cross sectional observation

Literature suggests that there limitation to using this scale with elderly people because the continence,

indicating that the score is affected by a lack of adequate definitions in these categories. Furthermore,
this study highlights that the elderly population proves difficult to obtain scores at the low end of the
range. This indicates a limitation of the scale that perhaps the risk thresholds are too high for elderly

She relays to Quincy Adams that his fortune of being born into a privileged family gives him
advantages that makes him all the more capable to do honor to [his] country, and render [his] parents
supremely happy (lines 61 62). She reminds him of who he is, the son of John Adams, who
unknowingly to them will become the president of the United States, and the son of a tender and
attentive mother concerned of his well being and future. The quote describes her expectations of her
son, hoping that he will take her teaching and words of motivation and let them guide him through his
future actions. She alludes to Cicero, how he is known as this outstanding figure because he had been
roused, kindled, and inflamed by corrupt leaders like Verres, Catiline, and Mark Anthony. Abigail
Adams tells her son that he must become a Cicero , that in times of need, of great disaster, his courage
and other virtues will awaken. As a citizen of the United States, he carries the responsibility of
protecting the nation which his ancestors have worked hard to establish, and indeed he did honor to
his country and protected it just as his mother protected him in his youth. He became a great figure in
history like Cicero; he became the president, a strong political leader just like his father, and played a
major role in establishing good foreign

1.1 TITLE
The limitations challenging further integration of information and communication technology (ICT) in
Nigeria s secondary schools: An assessment through secondary school teachers and students.
1.2 REASON FOR CHOICE OF TOPIC
Over the past decade, technology has had far reaching impact on the way we live, changing the way
we work, learn, and communicate even the way we carry out our regular, daily activities (Seifer and
Mihalynuk, 2003). The role of ICT in education extends beyond service learning classes and activities
by providing more effective experiences for faculty, students and community participants (Seifer and
Mihalynuk, 2003).
The need for ICT in Nigerian secondary schools cannot be overemphasized. In this technology driven
era, everyone needs ICT competence to thrive (Adomi and Kpangban, 2010). Although efforts have
been made to ensure that ICTs are available and utilised in Nigerian secondary school. However, the
level of inculcation remains low (Adomi and Kpangban, 2010). Goshit (2006) found out that most
schools, both private and public, do not offer ICT training programmes. The Federal Government of
Nigeria, in the National

Analysis Of The Film Amalia Hernandez And Deer Dance...
Amalia Hernandez was born in 1917, and was the famous creator of Ballet Folklorico. Classical Ballet
was Hernandez s first passion, in which she started taking lessons as a young girl. Later in her life, she
decided to specialize in Native American dance. Ballet Folklorico was first founded in 1952. The
company was a huge success, and soon became the largest and most popular dance company in the
entire world. More than 60 regions of Mexico were incorporated into her performances. Amalia
Hernandez s work and style incorporated many different cultures and themes. Many dances were
fiesta themed and incorporated beautiful different colors and costumes. Fiesta theme performances
were fun and different to watch. The vibrant colors and creativity made them unique and festive. A
great deal of Mexican history was also incorporated in Hernandez s work as well. One on Hernandez s
most famous creations was named, Deer Dance of the Yaqui Indians . This dance was associated from
a Mexican tribe. It resembled a hunter hunting a deer. In the act, a male artist wore antlers, resembling
the deer the hunter was after. The text stated, The Times in 1976, Anna Kisselgoff called the dance a
deeply moving testimony to the empathy of the hunters for the hunted. The message she was trying to
get across was that this is the way one must live to survive. Also quoting, Man must kill his prey, but
he respects that prey and endows it with noble qualities.

How The Water Feels To The Fishes Analysis
Ignorance is bliss as said by many people. As defined in the dictionary it is, lack of knowledge or
information (google). It could be a blessing or a curse. In this case, humans being ignorant is a curse.
Our thoughts have been so conditioned that our curiosity has been stolen from us. We no longer have
her own unique thoughts, we just go with what we are told. In How The Water Feels To The Fishes by
Dave Eggers, he writes how ignorant humans can be to everyday things like, air.
People always ask the fishes, what does the water feel like to you? and the fishes are always happy to
oblige (23).The fish have more wisdom compared to the humans. They are more attendant and aware
of their surroundings. They know how ignorant the humans can be and always try to help them out.
They explain to the humans how water can feel like the fur of a chinchilla (23). Or like the tongue of a
cat (23). It can feel many different ways depending on the temperature or time of the day. When it s
cold out, the water is like cracked glass. Or honey (23). When honey gets cold it turns solid, like an
ice cube and cracks. Cold honey is similar to cracked glass in the way that they look and that they are
sharp. To the fish, that s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We need to question them. We need to stop following people around trying to be normal just to fit in
because that s what everyone else does. We grow up being told what to wear, how we should look and
what to think about. We need to just stop accepting that things exists and start questioning what they
are and why they are. Why is the sky blue? Why do fish swim? Those are thing we just accept and we
do not question them. We take them as they are and do not evaluate them.We need to start living our
lives for ourselves and stop trying to please everyone else, stop following social norms just because

Two Tough Calls Case Study
1.A. How would you describe the HR practices and beliefs of the program manager, the narrator of
this case?
For the most part, I believe the narrator had a good outlook with her HR practices and beliefs. She
understood the company did not always do the right thing, but she wanted to make sure she did the
right thing to make her a better manager. The narrator had the ability to be honest with the people,
which would help to make the department stronger. There is not need to lie to people to make them
happy. If people need additional training or development, then they should be aware of what is
expected and what they need to improve. It is better to be up front with the people, because people that
are lied to believe they are doing better ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adding this step would have shown the company they did not have a full time position available for
Phil. The company still could have used his expertise in the field, but it would have either been with a
part time position or a contract position. The company must ensure they are bringing people on that
are able to perform the job required. It will not help the company to add people with little or no
experience. This will actually hinder the performance of the groups.
3. A. Who s to blame for the program manager s work difficulties with Terry top management, HR
department, prior managers, or the program manager in this case? Discuss. The blame for the program
manager s work difficulties with Terry are a direct result of the handling of Terry by the previous
program manager. While some people would say the blame should lie on the upper management for
hiring Terry, the previous manager was the one that constantly gave Terry above average grades on
performance reviews. If the previous manager was giving Terry above average grades on performance
reviews due to upper management, then I would say it is both the previous manager and upper
management s fault. The previous manager had an obligation to ensure the performance grades were
in line with the performance of the individual. If the manager did grade accordingly, and the upper
management changed the grading, then it is

Salvation On Sand Mountain Analysis
Salvation on Sand Mountain The climax of Salvation on Sand Mountain, author Dennis Covington s
account of his own exploration into the bizarre and small world of snake handling, is when Covington
himself takes up the snakes for his first (and last) time. As he describes in great detail, the experience
of snake handling for Covington was similar to that of an awakening. Covington felt no fear, as the
snake became an extension of himself and the entire room faded to white. As Covington begins to
come back into himself, the sound, smell, and heat of the church all return, and he hands the snake
back to Carl. The most climatic scene in the work ends. As I read this scene, though, my own views
and understanding of religion began to complicate because I am accustomed to thinking of religious in
the context of the quiet of the Catholic Church and not the chaos of the snake handlers church. Thus, I
also became skeptical of Covington s experience due to his previous affinity for danger.
Being a religious person, as I read, I compared and contrasted my experiences in church with those of
the snake handlers. Though there are distinct differences to contrast, when thought about more deeply,
there is also a similarity between the two denominations. The glaring differences include the snake
handling versus no snakes; the loud, chaotic music versus quiet, serene music; and the shouting and
proclaiming God s name versus quiet prayer to God. However, the one sentence that Covington wrote

Basic Terminology For A State Of Affairs
Basic Terminology: Unit Three
Sheila Elyse Brooks
Stanbridge College
April 27, 2015
Introduction As we continue our journey through the trials and errors of understanding basic statistical
terminology. Let s focus our attention on the following: understanding what is the difference between
a hypothesis, statistical hypothesis, and an experimental hypothesis. In addition, I want to explore how
researchers determine the appropriate sample size. Now, some of you might be asking the question
what do we do once we have our hypothesis and sample population? Well, now is a wonderful time to
start experimenting with statistical methods like the chi square test. I will explain this later on.
Hypothesis

However, most clinical research associates do not hold medical degree of any type. This makes it
rather to master the skills I need when I see my patients. Often, we are not allowed to open any lab
kits (because they are in sequential order) which makes nurses prone to more mistakes. When I first
came to Mount
Carmel, I notice we had simulators. So, I began to think how these simulators could reduce the clinical
errors in research. My hypothesis (state of affairs) could be: Clinical research nurses who practice on
simulators are more likely to have fewer medical errors then those who do not. My
Experimental hypothesis: Clinical research nurses are 25% more likely to make mistakes when
performing clinical skills (such as lab draws and administering study medication) then those nurses
who practice on patient simulators. My experiment: Compare the performance of nurses who use
patient simulators to practice specific study related skills versus those who do not. After you figure out
your hypothesis, you must consider what makes a good estimate .
Making Good Estimates We obtain a sample in order to obtain a statistical measurement such as a
mean form our observation. One can say that different sample sizes would produce different values or
variations. The variation between these individual estimates is due to sampling error (Fowler et el,
2002). It is important to note that sampling

The Poetry Of A Red Rose By Robert Burns
Robert Burns
Robert Burns A Red Red Rose On the romanticism era Robert Burns wrote the poem named A Red
Red Rose. In this poem Burns writes about his love for a girl and how strong and deep it is for her, as
he says I will love thee still my dear, till a the seas gang dry. Robert Burns was born on January 25th,
1759 in Alloway Scotland. Parents William Burns and Agnes Broun, his parents were farmers, though
they lived in that life of farming they wanted their son Robert Burns to have and receive a good
education and when he started getting the education they wanted him to have, burns also started to
read more and started to have a huge place in his heart for poetry. Burns father died in 1784 in
bankruptcy and then bruns and his brother Gilbert took over the farm, but that didn t stop him from
reading and getting influenced by different famous people. He was influenced by different poets like
Alexander Pope, Henry Mackenzie, and Laurence Sterne; His hard physical labour on the family is
what increasingly turned his attention toward the passion of poetry. Robert Burns turned his full
attention to poetry after what happened with his family and at age of fifteen he fell in love and wrote
his first poem, burns pursued both love and poetry. In 1785 he fathered the first of his fourteen
children and between 1784 and 1785 burns collected in his first collection which was Chiefly in the
Scottish Dialect and was printed in 1786 and was also paid for by

  • 2. Difference Between Children Literature And Children s... 2.2 Theoretical Orientation 2.2.1 Children Literature Children s literature has been used a lot as a useful and critical material in teaching reading. According to Rebecca (2010) Children s Literature as a concept is defined as literature exclusively about children. Children s literature refers mainly to stories, poetry, rhymes, folk tales, drama, exclusively created for children such as infants, toddlers and the young people as target audience. But to look deeper, because children s experiences, knowledge and interests are limited, their literature differs from adult but only in degree not in kind. Children s literature is a rich resource for vocabulary development that can be the strong fundamental for EFL learner to acquire functional English. For decades, research ... Through reading, the teacher role is to guide student how to comprehend written language so that the student can get the idea and share their thought to other easily. Byrnes (1998) stated that reading is an interactive process that goes on between the reader and the text, resulting in comprehension. The text presents letters, words, sentences, and paragraphs that encode meaning. The reader uses knowledge, skills, and strategies to determine what that meaning is. • 3. Stereotypes And Stereotypes Of The Movie The Single Moms... In today s society, media portrays more stereotypes than we can count on one hand. Latino s and Latina s are particularly stereotyped in media way too often. This overview of the most common Hispanic stereotypes portrayed in the media reveals why sweeping generalizations about Latinos are harmful (Nittle). Whether it is a male or female Latin actress/actor, the stereotypes rage from: Latin lovers and sexpot s to thugs and immigrants. When in reality, not all Latino s are what the stereotypes claim. Have you ever seen a movie or show in which the main male character is a Hispanic hunk who gets all the ladies? He would be considered a Latin Lover , which in other words is the real world Latino Ken Doll with a great romantic and sexual prowess. William Levy, a Cuban American actor and model, is an exact replica of this Latin Ken Doll. In the movie, The Single Moms Club, Levy plays the hunky secret boyfriend of one of the mothers. Of course, because he is a Latin lover he is absolutely gorgeous just as his lady is, he is said to be a master in the sheets and also has a big heart. Although in the real world, just as any other culture or race, not all Latino men are perfect, and mirror Greek Gods. Latina women are often portrayed as sexy, sassy, and spicy on television according to Sexy, Sassy, Spicy: The Portrayal of Latina Women in American Television. As a Hispanic woman, you must be loud, sexy, have a huge attitude and not speak fluent English, or at least this is what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Importance Of Art And Education Art is a way for me to visualise my personal ideas and express myself in a way for others to interpret. I enjoy being able to create something from an idea, as well as exploring my individuality and by choosing this course I will be able to refine my skills to specialise in the areas I really enjoy. So why fine art and education together? I believe that using art within a classroom as a teaching method is a great way to actively involve pupils, and get everybody engaged with learning. I also see it as a way of inspiring children to do their best, and being able to see a child overcome struggles within their education and within their personal life will be very rewarding. I have partaken in numerous activities which demonstrate my dedication to my subject areas, as well as ways of gaining experience and utilising my skills. For example, I have volunteered for the NEC Skills Show with my college where I exhibited work and taught members of the public various ways of using make up to create wounds. I have also visited primary schools to teach them art skills and to help with painting murals of cartoon characters in their playground. Outside of college I have tutored family friends for homework and grammar school entrance tests. At the end of my first year at college I was chosen to have my work exhibited in the Origins 2017 exhibition in London alongside the work of other individuals from all over England. • 6. The Importance Of Drug Smuggling In Australia Nearly one third of the 545 Australians currently imprisoned or facing charges overseas were convicted or arrested for drug related crimes, according to the latest figures from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Drug smuggling overseas is an enormous problem in our generation. Our society has seen countless of offenders in the newspapers and on social media, including the outrageously infamous Bali Nine, Cassie Sainsbury and Schapelle Corby as the drug smugglers most emphasised in the media in the last 15 years. Serious criminal offences committed like these cases see drug smugglers sentenced to harsh sentences in overseas countries like Bali and Columbia. However for large cases like these, special applications can be made for Serious Overseas Criminal Matters through the government. The only way to be eligible for Serious Overseas Criminal Matters is by being sentenced to either imprisonment for 20 years or more, or the death penalty. To be sentenced to convictions like this the person must have committed a serious offence, involving a large amount of drugs. When amounts like these are used in cases it s hard to understand how the convicted person is not guilty. It goes without saying innocent until proven guilty and cases like Schapelle Corby and Cassie Sainsbury continually express their innocence, however with evidence and flaws in their cases it s hard to see how innocent is the case. • 8. Analysis Of Rappaccini s Daughter By Nathaniel... At first glance, Rappaccini s Daughter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is a tragic love story that ends in the death of one man s true love and another man s daughter. But underneath, there is a dark undercurrent that is characteristic of the Gothic Romantic strain. This is not so much a story of love and loss as it is of two scientists desire to come out on top and conquer all who try to stop them. It is a tale of man s struggle to control nature and gain knowledge beyond that which we are supposed to have. It highlights a man who seeks to have a deep understanding of Nature s secrets. It is Rappiccini s desire for this knowledge that causes a rivalry with another scientist. In the end, his obsession is what eventually takes everything he loved away from him in a fashion characteristic of the Gothic Romantic strain. The Gothic Romantic writers primarily focus on the darker side of things. Nature is a destroyer. Additionally, the hero/heroine is solitary and often controlled by extreme emotions. There are characters who attempt to gain absolute knowledge of Nature and bend that knowledge to their will so they can essentially become like God. These themes are quite prevalent in Rappaccini s Daughter. One of the characters, Giovanni Guasconti, is alone in Naples. Beatrice has absorbed the poisons from the plants around her. This effectively cuts her off from the rest of the world. Her very touch harms the skin of the other person (12). When Giovanni first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Persuasive Essay On Acne Your skin is your friend, and you should love your skin no matter what color it is. Your skin likes you. As a matter of fact, it protects you from the elements and literally keeps you together. You, in turn, do your best to protect it from any kind of damage. Then, one day, acne rears its ugly head, and you suddenly no longer love your skin. What do you do then? Turn to harsh chemicals, and overpriced scrubs? That s a great way to thank a friend who s been there for you since day one. Your epidermis isn t at fault here since it can t help that your hormones are causing all that extra sebum to clog up your pores, or the fact that bacteria is running rampant. This is what causes pores to become blocked with bacteria, which causes inflammation and redness. If your skin could talk, what would it say? It would probably say something along the lines of patience, grasshopper. Treat me right and I shall repay you in kind. That s just a guess, anyways. The point is, natural acne remedies are a good way to get rid of it, or at least hold it at bay. They make you step back and really figure out what s going on with your skin, and how to work with it. Chances are, your skin will repay you in kind for not simply ravaging it with strange chemicals and your wallet will probably thank you too. • 12. The Mind And Body Problem Abstract: It is more reasonable to think that the patient has the usual range of mental states. Behaviours visually express mental states better than knowing if one has a Cartesian soul or the requirement of a normal human brain. Body: It is reasonable to think that the patient has the usual range of mental states because she is behaviourally indistinguishable from a normal human. Behaviours make mental states more evidentially obvious than knowing the brain state of a patient or if they have a Cartesian soul or not. Doctor 4 provides the argument that since the patient is behaviourally indistinguishable from a normal human, she has the usual range of mental states. Gilbert Ryle s view on the mind and body problem stems from Philosophical or logical behaviourism (Wk. 8 1, Slide 18). This view means that the idea that ascriptions of mental states correlates to dispositions of behaviour (Wk. 8 1, Slide 18). Behaviourists describe that saying, I am in pain, does not report an inner state, but rather is part of being in pain (Wk. 8 1, Slide 23). B.F. Skinner, a psychological behaviourist, also believes that mental states correlate to behaviours. Psychological Behaviourism is defined as, studying the mind by studying behaviour (Wk. 8 1, Slide 26). Skinner s black box is an experiment to observe stimulus/response pairings (Wk. 8 1, Slide 26). Cell phones have changed drastically from 20 years ago to present. When phones first came out they were only in our homes, I recall when I was younger we would go places and wouldn t have a cell phone to call or text, to let your family know your location, unlike today. In the early 90 s, the bag phone was introduced to the public. These phones were a big deal when they first came out, you would plug them into your cigarette lighter. When you would call someone it took a bit for it to go through but once the call went through you could hear someone on the other line. When you got done with the call you would hang up and once you got home you would zip the phone up and carry it inside. As a kid, this was very interesting. The cordless cell phones were quickly developed. If you had a cordless cell phone you were cool. When the cell phones first came out, your options were limited. At the time talking was the only option available, more options were available; text, check email, and facebook. The more technology rise; the more you can do on your phones, from skype to google and even ask your phone questions and it will answer back. When I did recent research I found that the studies have become more about what the cell phones are doing to people and their health. McKay used the money that he received from this award to go to America to study agriculture (Masiello 245). McKay came to the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama to study agriculture but left within two months. He transferred to Kansas State and stayed there until 1914 when he lost interest in the field of agriculture and returned to his writing (Masiello 245). McKay then had a few years with little success, this was when he initially moved to Harlem. In 1914, he married Eulalie Imelda Edwards, the marriage ended within six months (Ali 201). The shifts in government occurred under various regimes, Rhee Syng Man, Park Chung Hee, Chun Doo Hwan, and the June Uprising of 1987 (Hae Gu, Ho Ki). But the lead up to the democratization of South Korea has a more fluid past though, one of hardship and struggle, fluctuation between authoritarian regimes and military run governments. The pressures that caused the governments to change play a very vital role though too, they are the forces that shape the government and the ruling nature. The current ruling democracy was forged by the previous governments and deserves to be examined and discussed because they are obliviously the ones in charge right now. And lastly, the current military state of South Korea is to be reviewed. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. The Automation And Its Effects On The Environment If the automation in use does not demand a certain level of interaction or has presented several failures of operation to the specific aviator in the past, the operator is prone to a more significant negative event occurring in the future. This is due to the reliance and trust placed on the automation to complete the task as designed (Geiselman et al., 2013). Consistent with the model is the idea that the most likely scenario for complacency in the cockpit is prior to a very reliable system failing for the first time (Parasuraman Manzey, 2010). Similar to complacency in automation is bias. Bias breeds the misuse of automation through errors of omission and commission errors. Errors of omission are in reference to the aircrew not taking action as directed by automation, while commission errors are incorrect instructions provided by the automation that are acknowledged and followed by the operator as directed (Parasuraman Manzey, 2010). Several human factors of bias exist that make it a difficult problem to fix. The most common being that humans are typically drawn to situations that bias toward automation is natural, such as; choosing a path requiring less effort, natural trust in a system that has not failed previously, and the psychological effect of delegating tasks in a shared responsibility environment (Parasuraman Manzey, 2010). Compounding on the issue is that bias does not appear to be resolved by experience of the operator as it influences the natural human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people consider 1989 as the symbolic turning point, when the epoch of history and society started to be replaced by the epoch of biotechnology, genetic engineering or most recently evolution technology. We can say, that we are at the beginning of a genetic epoch (genepoch) or as Manfred Eigen (Steps Towards Life, Oxford University Press, 1992) calls it the era of molecular biology . In this vision of history, having solved the disputed questions of society in the practice and theory of democracy, mankind begins a new historical period, the genetic period, where even the terminology of history will be a completely new kind. Avant garde philosophers develop a new approach for investigating the genetic structure of all traditional problems instead of further exploring the society, language, knowledge or physical world. In (Shukla et al.,2008) study the Waterlow scale was used on 15 patients in two wards. Each patient was assessed daily by two different nurses over a period of seven days. A total of 28 clinical nurses were involved and a total of 210 assessments obtained. Statistical analysis demonstrated weak or a moderate degree of inter rater reliability. Other authors suggested the water low scale too long and time consuming. Pang and Wong (1998). Edwards (1995) examined the reliability of the Waterlow Scale he did a cross sectional observation survey of 40 elderly patients with or without ulcers in a community setting. The results failed to display high levels of reliability and in line with other studies over predicted ulcer development. Literature suggests that there limitation to using this scale with elderly people because the continence, neurological deficit and medication affect on scale result. (Cook et al., 1999) said the Categories where disagreement occurred the most were (skin type), (build/weight for height) and (mobility) again indicating that the score is affected by a lack of adequate definitions in these categories. Furthermore, this study highlights that the elderly population proves difficult to obtain scores at the low end of the range. This indicates a limitation of the scale that perhaps the risk thresholds are too high for elderly people Other Literatures examined the scale parts and examined if the variation ... • 42. How The Water Feels To The Fishes Analysis Ignorance is bliss as said by many people. As defined in the dictionary it is, lack of knowledge or information (google). It could be a blessing or a curse. In this case, humans being ignorant is a curse. Our thoughts have been so conditioned that our curiosity has been stolen from us. We no longer have her own unique thoughts, we just go with what we are told. In How The Water Feels To The Fishes by Dave Eggers, he writes how ignorant humans can be to everyday things like, air. People always ask the fishes, what does the water feel like to you? and the fishes are always happy to oblige (23).The fish have more wisdom compared to the humans. They are more attendant and aware of their surroundings. They know how ignorant the humans can be and always try to help them out. They explain to the humans how water can feel like the fur of a chinchilla (23). Or like the tongue of a cat (23). It can feel many different ways depending on the temperature or time of the day. When it s cold out, the water is like cracked glass. Or honey (23). When honey gets cold it turns solid, like an ice cube and cracks. For the most part, I believe the narrator had a good outlook with her HR practices and beliefs. She understood the company did not always do the right thing, but she wanted to make sure she did the right thing to make her a better manager. The narrator had the ability to be honest with the people, which would help to make the department stronger. There is not need to lie to people to make them happy. Who s to blame for the program manager s work difficulties with Terry top management, HR department, prior managers, or the program manager in this case? Discuss. The blame for the program manager s work difficulties with Terry are a direct result of the handling of Terry by the previous program manager. While some people would say the blame should lie on the upper management for hiring Terry, the previous manager was the one that constantly gave Terry above average grades on performance reviews. If the previous manager was giving Terry above average grades on performance reviews due to upper management, then I would say it is both the previous manager and upper management s fault. The previous manager had an obligation to ensure the performance grades were in line with the performance of the individual. If the manager did grade accordingly, and the upper management changed the grading, then it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Salvation On Sand Mountain Analysis Salvation on Sand Mountain The climax of Salvation on Sand Mountain, author Dennis Covington s account of his own exploration into the bizarre and small world of snake handling, is when Covington himself takes up the snakes for his first (and last) time. As he describes in great detail, the experience of snake handling for Covington was similar to that of an awakening. Covington felt no fear, as the snake became an extension of himself and the entire room faded to white. As Covington begins to come back into himself, the sound, smell, and heat of the church all return, and he hands the snake back to Carl. The most climatic scene in the work ends. As I read this scene, though, my own views and understanding of religion began to complicate because I am accustomed to thinking of religious in the context of the quiet of the Catholic Church and not the chaos of the snake handlers church. Thus, I also became skeptical of Covington s experience due to his previous affinity for danger. Being a religious person, as I read, I compared and contrasted my experiences in church with those of the snake handlers. Though there are distinct differences to contrast, when thought about more deeply, there is also a similarity between the two denominations. The glaring differences include the snake handling versus no snakes; the loud, chaotic music versus quiet, serene music; and the shouting and proclaiming God s name versus quiet prayer to God. However, the one sentence that Covington wrote ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Basic Terminology For A State Of Affairs Basic Terminology: Unit Three Sheila Elyse Brooks Stanbridge College April 27, 2015 Introduction As we continue our journey through the trials and errors of understanding basic statistical terminology. Let s focus our attention on the following: understanding what is the difference between a hypothesis, statistical hypothesis, and an experimental hypothesis. In addition, I want to explore how researchers determine the appropriate sample size. Now, some of you might be asking the question what do we do once we have our hypothesis and sample population? Well, now is a wonderful time to start experimenting with statistical methods like the chi square test. I will explain this later on. Hypothesis A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, most clinical research associates do not hold medical degree of any type. This makes it rather to master the skills I need when I see my patients. Often, we are not allowed to open any lab kits (because they are in sequential order) which makes nurses prone to more mistakes. When I first came to Mount Carmel, I notice we had simulators. So, I began to think how these simulators could reduce the clinical errors in research. My hypothesis (state of affairs) could be: Clinical research nurses who practice on simulators are more likely to have fewer medical errors then those who do not. My Experimental hypothesis: Clinical research nurses are 25% more likely to make mistakes when performing clinical skills (such as lab draws and administering study medication) then those nurses who practice on patient simulators. My experiment: Compare the performance of nurses who use patient simulators to practice specific study related skills versus those who do not. After you figure out your hypothesis, you must consider what makes a good estimate . Making Good Estimates We obtain a sample in order to obtain a statistical measurement such as a mean form our observation. One can say that different sample sizes would produce different values or variations. The variation between these individual estimates is due to sampling error (Fowler et el, 2002). It is important to note that sampling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
